chest. Police try to reason with the man, but he refuses to cooperate.

A negotiator pleads to let the baby go.

The man turns away and a policeman acts decisively.

Watch as the man becomes distracted and the officer raises his gun.

The baby is frightened and stunned but safe.

On a street in Butte, Montana, curious townspeople look on as authorities try

to negotiate with another desperate man.

Seated in his car, packed with gasoline and pipe bombs, Terry Rossland has

demanded to see his wife and children or blow himself up.

The sheriffs work in a relaxed manner and seem to have momentarily diffused

the situation.

There's Rossland exiting the vehicle, charred and burning from the explosion.

rossland lies in the street still alive as shocked bystanders watch in disbelief

paramedics

rush to his side and hope to keep him alive

Remarkably, Rosland survived this horrifying incident but committed

suicide by a drug overdose one year later.

In Seoul, Korea, protesters displaced by the building of a new apartment complex

have taken over a construction tower and hurled flaming firebombs at innocent

laborers.

A frustrated worker throws rocks in retaliation and is met with gasoline-fed

flamethrowers.

Taking action, workers cautiously approach the tower and use a wooden

platform as a shield. The defiant protesters hurl deadly fireballs from

above. Watch what happens.

A fireball catches his jacket, but he manages to quickly put it out. But the

next shot engulfs him in a wall of flames.

A fellow worker hurries to his rescue and courageously puts out the flames.

At a different protest in San Salvador, veterans have taken workers hostage in

an effort to pressure the government into paying them long overdue state

benefits. Police surround the building.

and begin firing real bullets and tear gas.

Hostages are quickly ushered out of the building, but as protesters run towards

the police to escape the gas, the police violence escalates to a horrifying

conclusion.

The scene becomes more and more chaotic.

The police mistakenly pepper spray a hostage and grow more and more violent.

With the advent of videotape equipment on highway patrol vehicles, police

pursuits have become seemingly more common. But in fact, we just didn't see

them. A man has stolen a lawnmower from a local hardware store, loaded it in the

back of his pickup, and is racing away from authorities.

The danger of an accident increases as the pickup travels deeper into a

populated residential area.

and then out of nowhere.

In slow motion, the truck approaches the intersection and is completely wiped

out.

Here's a police pursuit in Salt Lake City, Utah that has a completely

different conclusion The

as the police move in to make the arrest the man opens fire the

is shot numerous times but is still alive

Shots fired. Suspect was down. I was involved in the shooting. I wanted my

supervisor.

The man fires another shot at the approaching police. They make sure he

won't fire again.

But approximately around 6.50 this morning, the pursuit from Lancaster, the

city of Lancaster, terminated in the city of Carlsbad.

The highway patrol, at least the Oceanside area highway patrol, took over

the pursuit at approximately 0630 hours this morning in the south of the San

Clemente area.

And we were pursuing the suspect who was apparently being pursued for a possible

burglary incident that occurred in the city of Lancaster.

The pursuit had terminated here on the off-ramp of Las Flores in the city of

Carlsbad. And it appears at that point, upon the termination of the pursuit, the

sole individual, the suspect, exited the vehicle armed, and there was some

gunfire.

The disturbed man holds a shotgun, walks calmly to the trunk of

his car, reaches in for some shells, and methodically loads his weapon.

At a bullfighting festival in Zaragoza, Spain, a young man is pursued by a

rampaging bull and is literally caught with his pants down.

The bull wears the man's underwear as a souvenir.

At the St. Anthony's Festival in Spain, a different bull is provoked into a

fiery rage by a sharp prod.

Led into an enclosed square, The enraged beast is taunted by teasing spectators.

They stab him with pointed darts to heighten his fury.

After his body is filled with darts and the bull is seemingly softened up, the

gate is opened and the bull is released into the city streets.

Luckily, the man escaped with only minor injuries. The next victim is not so

fortunate.

Townspeople rush to her rescue.

Incredibly, the critically injured young woman actually survived this gruesome

attack.

The ocean is home to a different kind of predator.

Seven miles off the coast of Chile, oceanic research students enjoy a dip in

the ocean to cool off.

Unfortunately they weren't alone.

It took her leg off.

It took it off. It's gone.

In slow motion, we see the victim swimming calmly

when suddenly, out of nowhere, the 16-foot great white shark appears and

takes off her leg.

home video captured this devastating attack by a disturbed elephant at a

circus in honolulu her trainer gravely tries to calm the giant animal down but

the beast has completely snapped

Horrified spectators panic in fear.

The elephant escapes outside and continues her rampage.
