[Episode 17]

This guy!

What are you doing?

Are you crazy?

This can't be...

Man Geum... Where is it?

How can I believe what you're saying?

You can just dig the grave and open the casket.

Inside it

is the truth.

Year of Gyesa (1713), Month 4, Day 12. Baek Man Geum taken in by Lee In Jwa for treatment of hemostasis.

You're the last person to see Father that day!

Why are you suddenly looking for Orabeoni Man Geum?

Let's cut to the chase. What happened to my Father's corpse?

Stop right there! Stop!

Stop! Catch him!

Take him out of water.

Pulling Orabeoni's corpse up,

I took it to the White-Faced Scholar.

Bury him in a place with lots of sunshine.

Yes, Sir.

Then, I'll be going.

Is that all?

What else could there be?

At that time, we thought that Man Geum really died.

But that person is alive...

I'm sure Lee In Jwa must have done some kind of trick.

Wait.

Oh.

I just remember it.

There was indeed a patient who was shot by an arrow.

There was and?

He survived like it was a miracle.

Then... Man Geum... has been alive?

Does it make a sense?

What happened to that patient after that?

Was it probably on the third day?

He was the unconscious man.

It appeared someone must have taken him.

It's Lee In Jwa.

Are you sure that the patient was alive?

No need to think.

I'm sure he's alive.

T-that!

I will not watch the plight of a water maid's child seated on the royal throne.

I cannot bear to see such lowborns soil the royal court.

Your Highness.

The King is looking for you.

Do you know the reason why I didn't cut Lee In Jwa's neck off right away,

and I gave him two days?

Is it because you want to lurk in order to draw the traitor Jeong in?

But I changed my mind now.

He won't fall into.

Jeong will never fall into the king's trap.

It's very natural that someone who has experienced the calamity won't do it.

That person is probably testing me.

Don't even mention that rotten White-Faced Scholar.

If you think about what I went through because of that person...

He must be thinking.

Whether I'm a card that needs to be kept,

or a card that can be thrown out.

But(Hwang Jin Ki)

why that person is not making a move...

Whether he considers me as a discard...

He is not convinced of him.

He is the one that has at least a thousand of monster serpent in him.

For a long period of time, evading me,

that's how he has sustained his life.

Then... What do you have to do now?

Instead of chasing two rabbits and missing both of them,

I'll catch the one in front of me, first.

Mobilization of Military

Is this the tag for the authorization of mobilizing the military?

Military Training Command, Royal Brigade Command, Northern Garrison Command, Southern Garrison Command, Capital Garrison Command,

I'll pass you on the authority over all those departments.

Since the traitor's knife point came under your nose,

you must kill him.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Your Highness.

Lee Geun Myeong, Lee Yi Myeong, Kim Chang Jip

Mobilization of Military

Is this the tag for the authorization of mobilizing the military?

No need to think. I'm sure he's alive.

Your answer is important.

Who is this?

The chartered merchants, the boss of the gambling den, and even child named Dam Seo,

have abandon Lee In Jwa.

I asked who you are.

But there is a case that one commander is more important than one hundred of soldiers.

I want to hear your opinion.

Whether you join Lee In Jwa's side.

Clansman Jeong will seek Baek Dae Gil's answer.

And he will mobilize by that answer. Whether to save me or not.

But those Soron punks aren't even showing their noses.

Why those ministers...

No, they must be putting in their convulsive efforts.

Since they are next if this Lee In Jwa dies.

Your Highness, Crown Prince. Shouldn't you accord to customs?

I said I will meet my teacher and why are you opposing it?

Crown Prince, to meet the traitor Lee In Jwa who's been arrested at this hour

is a matter of grave danger. Better to persuade His Majesty

and open a royal interrogation

to get an innocent sentence on Lee In Jwa.

If he is named a traitor and dies,

wouldn't it also bring about a great flaw upon the governing of Your Highness which has had him close by?

Why are the heads not matching up to the tails?

Clearly we said to abandon Lee In Jwa and grip a different sword.

It's matter that our Soron's survival hangs upon.

How can we just do as what you solely say!

What does this appear to you?

To me, it looks to be a military authority to behold the traitors.

No, before that, this is a horse without feet.

Horse without feet?

As is said, rumors travel faster than horse, no?

Before they mobilize their treacherous minds, there is a need to corner them just a bit more.

Until the mice that are cornered show their claws,

we are to wait?

[ State Tribunal ]

Please let me in. It'll only be brief.

Not so. No one is allowed inside at this hour, and a grand traitor, at that. Go back now.

Are you here to see Lee In Jwa?

Your father is alive?

His real father, Baek Man Geum is alive?

Follow me.

Explain so I can understand.

I was with him. When you came to see me.

When you came to me to ask why I killed Baek Man Geum,

Baek Man Geum was also present there.

Father was there?

So then? Where's Father?

Why has he not shown up once all this while if he was alive?

Baek Man Geum also wished for you to become king.

At first, he couldn't comprehend.

Are you awake?

Lee . . Lee In Jwa.

To see you laying here, I do feel a rather.

Look here, Baek Man Geum.

How about making a deal with me as though you've died once?

I plan to make Baek Dae Gil the king.

But upon grasping the depth of the great cause, he also agreed

to my will.

Stop babbling dog crap.

Father wouldn't have abandoned me to follow the likes of you. Father...

Baek Man Geum knew all the truth.

That you are the child of the current king and Consort Sook. That you are a royal descendant carrying the blood of the Three Jong (Hyojong, Hyeonjong, Sukjong).

So for the sake of this grandiose cause,

he let go of your link as father and son.

It's your time now. Time for you to draw your sword.

Not for me, but for the sake of this nation Joseon, for the people.

So where's my father?

As of now, Baek Man Geum is at a place where his life hangs by a word from me.

So what will you do?

If you touch a finger nail of my father's,

be prepared. Before you're taken to have your sentence enforced, you will die by my hands first.

Then make your move.

You alone can save me.

Mark my words. Only I, Lee In Jwa,

can find your father, Baek Man Geum.

Will you do it?

I asked, do you intend to save Lee In Jwa?

It's Lee In Jwa's cajoling. If your father was alive,

why hasn't he appeared?

All you have is Lee In Jwa's words but no way to prove it.

San Gil.

Yes, Your Highness.

[ Bliss Palace (Buddhist Temple) ]

What do you mean? Baek Man Geum is alive?

You didn't know?

Can't be. I saw his corpse with my own eyes.

No, father is clearly alive.

Father's tomb was empty and Lee In Jwa's glance was not of a lie.

Baek Man Geum who was deemed dead is alive?

Master, did you hide that even from me as well?

While on the account of Baek Man Geum's death, I have...

Tell me where my father might be right now.

Can't be. My teacher...

I can't lose my father again to that filthy ambition of Lee In Jwa's.

The capital is all in the teacher's clutch. You'll never find him like this.

No, I must find him even if I have to flip the capital upside down.

I can only tell you one thing. Don't stand by my teacher no matter what.

You should also let it go now.

Toward my father...

your feeling of guilt and regret.

I'll let go of all those feelings from now on.

It's a relief.

It's a real relief.

That your father is alive.

What?

No way. What on earth did Lee In Jwa say to you?

He probably suggested a deal.

He probably said, if you save him, he'd tell you where your father is.

What are all of you doing without going to bed?

Hey, this punk, while you look like grieving, do you think we can sleep?

Dae Gil. We are your side.

No matter what you decide, we'll follow your decision.

A saving tag?

Kim Che Geon, since I will be entrusting and supporting you as the King's Swordsman,

use your great martial art skills for Joseon.

Also, the saving tag that I bestow on you

will save your life one day.

With this saving tag that the King bestowed on me,

you are probably able to save Lee In Jwa's life.

The Saving Tag

The King bestowed a military authorization tag on you, didn't he?

Yes. Royal Mother. Are you worried about me?

We don't know how the cornered beast react.

Don't be worried about me, Royal Mother.

Nothing will happen.

Are you worried about Hyung-nim?

We'll come to the greeting together, tomorrow.

Thank you, Prince Yeoning.

What happened?

She is staying in a small temple at In Whang Mountain.

Did you notice any hint of the movement?

The Sorons still discuss on the table.

The boss of the gamble house at the Six Ministries Street will be restrained until carrying out the execution.

Then, everything is ready.

Now, is this the turn of riding a horse without feet?

Your Highness the Crown Prince, are you there?

What happened at this late hours?

This Prince Yeoning came to request earnestly something to you.

Something to request?

As the King issued a royal order to me,

A royal order?

Is this military authorization tag?

The King granted me the authorization power of the five military departments,

and ordered me to definitely take Lee In Jwa to the death,

even by mobilizing the military.

There must be someones who are in collusion with Lee In Jwa.

There must be someone who knows the traitor Jeong.

Nobody can prevent Lee In Jwa from the execution by beheading.

Because these words without feet have already

gone adrift 1000 Li (about 250 miles) so tied up the traitors' hands and feet.

You're rude. Just by the Royal Father's arbitrary decision, without the criminal interrogation, Lee In Jwa...

Lee In Jwa is a traitor.

Your Highness, you can't move even your one step until Lee In Jwa's execution.

Moreover, you can't reach out your help to him at all.

Geum, are you threatening me right now?

This Prince Yeoning dares to suggest a honest advice to you with risking my life.

Your Highness, tomorrow, without fail,

I'll end Lee In Jwa's evil deed.

From this time on and until finishing the Lee In Jwa's execution,

all the military authorization is left to this Prince Yeoning.

So, heed what I'm saying.

Put your lives on the line to protect His Highness the Crown Prince.

Do you understand?

Close the 4 Gates into the Capital, and do not allow anyone to enter or leave excepting those with stagehorse ids.

From this point on, guarding of the Royal Investigation Bureau will be done by the Capital Bureau

Any invasion nor jailbreak by any person shall not be tolerated

It is his highness's will to save you. So please go inside.

Since it is an earnest plea. Do not interfere

Make sure that my two hands

don't arrest you.

What are you planning on doing with that sword?

What. Are you really planning on saving Lee In Jwa?

If that's so, then pull out your sword.

If it must be done.

Is there a younger brother who puts a sword in his older brother's path?

And there exists an older brother who blocks the way of his younger brother?

Don't think of needless thoughts.

What are you planning on doing?

Whether you save or do not save Lee In Jwa, by now you should have an answer.

If you want to hear the answer, show your face first!

Did you meet the traitor Jeong?

By any chance, because you can't trust me, that's why you came?

Is there anyone who wouldn't be shaken after knowing that their father believed to be dead is actually alive?

My father isn't a weak person.

We will get it using whatever way possible.

Royal Mother is seeking you.

Early tomorrow, come to the palace.

Just a bidding of well wish.

Then.

Father, just be alive.

Your Highness, you must lie down.

I'm not dying.

Lee In Jwa.

Before that beast of a man dies,

I cannot close my eyes first.

Baek Dae Gil.

Truly this is your choice?

You've given me difficult footsteps.

This is a filial piety, isn't it?

Thank you.

Thank you so much.

So it's today. Lee In Jwa's last.

In two hours, he will be executed.

Lee In Jwa, his death,

I had wanted to see with my eyes but I will watch

from here.

You two, listen to your mothers well.

You are brothers, are you not?

The one closest to you above everyone else in this world.

Do not worry.

Even in death,

I will protect you two.

Then, Royal Mother, I will take my leave.

Your Highness.

You are very beautiful today.

- Is that so?- Yes, Your Highness.

Stand up. Everyone is waiting.

I, Lee In Jwa's fate only amounts to here?

To turn Joseon over and complete the great cause.

Is my, Lee In Jwa's, fate

Move aside.

Baek Dae Gil, I believe in you.

Baek Dae Gil, it's not too late yet.

It's not too late yet.

Why are you faltering? You can do this.

I'm the only one who can save you.

Save me at once, I said!

So say it. Where is my father?

There is only one path for you to choose.

To save your father and to save me.

As of now, Baek Man Geum

is where his life hangs by a word from me.

Well, what are you going to do?

Save me at once and save your father.

Lies until your death? How befitting of you.

What?

- You're finished now. - This bastard!

Father.

Carry out the execution.

Watch closely!

This is not the end.

I, Lee In Jwa,

will not die at last.

Even if I am to become a ghost

I will change this Joseon for sure.

So with your eyes clearly open,

- What's the problem?- Your Highness.

I'm very sorry. Very sorry.

Crown Prince, even if there's a ban on punishments,

the custom excludes the grand traitors.

Lee In Jwa's execution cannot be postponed any longer.

Your Excellency, Prime Minister. Royal Consort Sook has passed away, but to carry out an execution?

It's a given.

Crown Prince, this is not the way.

Lee In Jwa, not one moment...

It's a courageous decision made by the regency, His Highness the Crown Prince. Why do you...

To carry out an execution of a grand traitor...

it is not a matter that requires the courageous decision of His Highness the Crown Prince.

Please postpone it.

- Your Highness!- Your Highness.

As her son!

My royal mother's death...

I cannot allow it to be disgraced.

Why have you sought me again?

Your teacher survived and I came presuming your answer might have changed.

My will has not changed.

I still, with my hands,

plan to kill my teacher.

Do not deceive yourself.

You should verify yourself. Your true intention and your teacher's true intention.

It's only for a brief, so return quickly.

Dam Seo.

So, how have you been?

You've withered a lot.

I am ashamed.

So then, did you come to rescue me or to kill me?

I will pull you out from here.

Your life, I will collect afterwards.

This is the last repayment I can give you.

Go now.

Do you wish to be in the band of traitors? I don't need your help, so leave now.

Verify yourself. Your true intention and your teacher's true intention.

I said, go back!

If it's to offer my life for the sake of this nation, Joseon, I shall.

Hence, if it's too replace this rotten crumbling Joseon

and to open a new nation, that great cause, I will do it.

Hence, Dam Seo, you go on your path.

Go back, I said!

That child's pain must be followed by the paying of responsibility.

Baek Dae Gil and

Prince Yeoning as well, all need that responsibility.

Did you summon me?

What is your thought?

To postpone Lee In Jwa's execution, your reason!

However, Her Consortship Sook still...

Shove that useless babbling.

What is your true intention of shielding that man?

Please save him.

What?

Lee In Jwa. Please save that man Lee In Jwa.

Do you even know that man's true thought?

Royal Father, it's a misunderstanding.

Misunderstanding?

The day Royal Mother was exiled.

The day Royal Father cast out Royal Mother.

Lee In Jwa, that man extended his hand to me.

I grabbed baduk pieces. If I were to grab white pieces,

he said he would save me.

Those baduk pieces! Did you think there were any black ones?

From the get-go it was his scheme to bewitch you!

You truly do not know that?

It was not that I did not know.

I knew, but I still wanted to lean on him. I to him!

To that only person who extended a hand out to me. I wished to lean on him.

Shut your mouth!

How can you fall into his witchcraft and unable to free from it?

He is one who advocated for me and protected me and one who gave me power.

He is one who promised me he'd have me ascend to the royal throne!

You are truly wishing to die?

To some petty beast, you play fool in his clutch.

And you call yourself a crown prince of a nation,

the foundation of this nation?

I will now, that Lee In Jwa's neck...
