Welcome to the season finale of Survivor 45.
Well, this has been a season driven by a familiar battle between two often
opposing forces.
Having the numbers you need to control the vote versus being loyal to the
relationships you made in the game. But this season, there's been a real
emphasis on the relationship part of that battle. And that's going to be one
of the biggest obstacles for the final five. Can they separate personal from
game or are the two?
indistinguishable once again they're going to be starting over on a new beach
with no shelter tonight we'll have two immunity challenges two tribal councils
one fire making showdown then the final three will face the jury and we will
crown a winner of survivor 45 and immediately go into the after show while
they're still raw and we're still here in the jungles of fiji all right our
final five julie katura d austin and jake Who will be the sole
survivor and go home with the million dollar check that goes along with it?
Here we go. Season finale.
Survivor 45.
My idol.
I'm not out of this game. I'm a wolf in goat's clothing.
Previously on Survivor.
This is the best day of my life.
Dee is so cool.
I love talking with her. I love hanging out with her.
I swear Drew wants me out.
Drew is the master. Drew has to go next.
Dee's down for writing Drew's name.
Who are you voting for?
My morals are coming in the way.
Austin might feel like I betrayed him.
I don't know.
Should I tell Austin or should I not tell Austin?
Thirteenth person voted out and the sixth member of our jury.
Drew.
The tribe has spoken.
Tonight, you will be taken to a new island where you will start over and
begin the final push to the end of Survivor 45.
This camp is really nice Oh
man,
this tribal council is the first time in the game where I did not know what was
gonna happen I got blindsided and my best buddy drew
got sent home so i wouldn't mind a recap we'd love to talk to you one-on-one if
you want yeah i'd like that until today i've had two number ones in this game d
and drew and now with drew gone i just have one number one and that's d
but d did not tell me about the drew boat well first of all i'm really sorry
about drew but most importantly i'm sorry that i didn't tell you
It is what it is. I'm not like upset personal because I know it's like this
is survivor, you know, like If I had a tip-off, I probably would have given him
the amulet. Yeah. Yeah, so It makes sense. Yeah So
sorry, okay,
okay Like not hate me but like, uh
-huh I thought you were just going to be, like, really upset.
It... Because of the fact that you told me about Julie and then me not telling
you about Drew. It's fine.
I trust you still. I promise.
Even after I played a part in the Drew blindside, Austin took it so freaking
well that it made me, like... It made me feel for him more. Like, it made me want
to, like, hug him even harder, you know?
Maybe we should head back? Or do you want to stay out longer? No, I want to
stay out longer.
Okay.
Do I go over and say, we're not going to be able to sleep until y'all come back?
Nah. This is crazy.
Let them go. We just let them go. This is a whole relationship.
I mean, right?
This is a freaking relationship.
Dee is connected to Austin at the hip. It's so annoying.
And it's really disgusting to me that we allowed this pair to get this far
because we really have to be strategic now in how we act because they really
are a block.
I'm getting really nervous about this pair.
I'm mad that we didn't recognize this earlier.
I don't want to fumble the ball this close to the end.
So I'm really trying to figure out a way for me to make it in the final four
without the D-Austin pair.
This is beautiful.
Oh, wow. It's pretty.
Oh, my God.
What's happening over there? Yeah. Is that a box?
That's a box. Oh, my goodness.
I see a box. It looks like there's some kind of handle coming out of it. There's
some kind of combination locked.
Oh, my goodness.
There are three stations scattered around this island.
Each station contains a set of items.
A box of crabs.
a pile of coconut, a stack of bamboo pieces.
Race to count the number of items at each station, then use those three
numbers to open a combination lock and retrieve your advantage.
When you reach the combination lock, you get one guess.
If wrong, you must race back to each station before making another guess.
First player to solve it earns the advantage.
So do we just take off?
Oh my god!
Let's go!
We say go, we don't really know where to go.
So I just start running.
And it's far.
Sounds good.
Oh, you guys are living.
I'm counting 18.
Yep.
I do want whatever advantage I can get, because I need to win this immunity
challenge. So I'm going to try and keep Couture and Jake behind me, but I'm
already exhausted.
Okay.
Running's not my forte, so I know if I'm going to do this, I need to be accurate.
I have very minimal room for error, because these guys will all outrun me.
I've already had an uphill battle in this game, but if I win this challenge
today, my stock shoots way up. But this is tough, dude. These are not near each
other whatsoever.
This is a little bit of an expedition.
Counting is so hard when you're starving and you're exhausted, but Dee and I help
each other out.
43. I'm trying 42.
We're telling each other the numbers that we're getting, but we're stuck on
the coconuts. 42, 43, no, 43, 42, no, we need to be on the same page.
142.
42, maintain.
Okay,
aggressive.
I'm counting angry snapping crabs and running back and forth literally at far
ends of the beach, and I just want to be like, oh, my God, I give up. But today's
challenge... and tonight's vote is the most monumental time in the game. So I
told myself, you must keep going. And that's exactly what I'm doing.
Oh my God, what is this?
The bamboo was like so hard because they're all stacked different ways.
Super hard.
I count 17 bamboo and I am first to the law.
But I don't have to write numbers.
The worst is every time you guess it wrong, you have to go back to a station
to recount and then come back. So everyone's getting it wrong.
Everyone's running around trying to get this advantage. You're just thinking,
okay, and then you go.
My strategy going into this is that I know if I get an exact number, I got to
remember it.
So when I come up with a number, I match it to what survivor won that season. So
I count 18 crabs.
That's survivor token chains. JT wins survivor token chains.
So I know, okay, crabs, that's JT. For the bamboo, I get 25.
That's Denise, survivor Philippines.
Denise, she's bamboo, she's sturdy, she's solid. And then I'm running to the
coconuts, and I get survivor 43.
I know that's Gabler.
Gabler is coconuts. He's a little nutty. He's little coconuts.
JT, Gabler, Denise.
I pull it.
Yeah, baby!
Comes right up.
Yeah!
JT, Gabler, Denise.
Sorry, 18, 43, 25.
Damn it.
Congratulations. As a result of your hustle and accuracy, you have earned an
advantage in today's immunity challenge.
That feels good.
I needed this more than anyone else here, and I need this to win the game
right now. And if I win the game, it's because this is helping me.
This could be my million dollars right here.
45 seasons in and still going strong.
Want to be part of the adventure?
Apply to Beyond Survivor.
Come on in.
And here they come.
Looking sharp, Jeff.
Day 24. Thank you, Jake.
Oh, man.
Hi.
Hi.
Shall we get to today's immunity challenge?
Yeah. First things first, Dean, for the second time, I have to take back the
necklace.
Thank you.
Once again, immunity is back up for grabs.
For today's challenge, you're going to crawl under an obstacle and dig up a
machete.
You'll use that machete to drop a pile of sandbags.
You must then toss those sandbags into three baskets, releasing three numbers.
Those numbers will help you solve a combination lock, which will release a
set of keys.
Then you gotta climb to the top of a tall tower, where you will use those
keys to unlock and then solve a three-tier survivor puzzle.
First person to finish.
wins immunity, guaranteed a spot at four, cannot and will not ever be voted
out of this season of Survivor. In addition, playing for a reward.
Oh, my God.
Want to know what you're playing for? Yes, I do.
The winner will be taken to the sanctuary.
But good things happen.
I like good things.
Steak dinner.
Baked potato.
Little carrot cake and some wine, if you like.
I like. I like.
Losers, tribal council, where after 24 days, somebody will be the 14th person
voted out and become the seventh member of our jury. Now, this morning, you had
an opportunity for one person to earn an advantage in today's challenge.
How did that go?
Yeah, so as a result of my hustle and accuracy, Jeff, I got this little
advantage right here.
Thank you, Jake. Thank you, Jeff.
Congratulations. All right, so, Jake.
Your advantage in today's challenge is that two of your sandbags will already
be in those baskets, revealing two of the numbers.
So all you have to do is land one sandbag in the closest basket in that
section. Decent advantage, not too big, but if this comes down to the end, that
could be what does it. Absolutely.
All right, should we drop our spots?
Yeah. Let's do it.
We'll get it on.
Here we go.
All right, here we go for immunity and a guaranteed spot in the final four.
Biggest stakes of survivor 45.
Here we go.
Survivors ready?
Get it. Go!
First, you're going under this obstacle.
You're looking at that flag and that sand pit. You want to dig up your
machete.
The faster you dig, the faster you'll get it.
Austin has his machete. He's out to an early lead.
Jake has his. Dee has hers.
Keturah has hers.
Julie's still digging.
There she is.
Now you've got to untie the machete, chop that rope, and you'll release your
sandbags. Dee has hers free. So does Jake.
Go. You're good.
Austin's through.
Grab your sandbags.
Keturah, you're good.
You can gather as many or as few sandbags as you think you need. It is
Jake first.
Here comes Austin.
Julie chops.
She's good.
Everybody trying to get through those knots as fast as possible.
Austin is through first. He can start throwing sandbags. Jake's through. Jake
has the advantage.
Two of his numbers.
are already up he's just got one sandbag to land in his nearest basket jake
lands here jake has all three numbers 23 14.
that advantage coming in handy right now jake is in the lead heads to his
combination box austin lands one katura lands one austin lands a second very
quickly just misses with the third she has one here's julie she's in on it
Austin has all three. He's got his three numbers. But everybody's got different
numbers. He quickly heads to the combination lock.
Steve with another one. She's looking for one more.
Julie snags one.
Jake has solved it. He heads up.
Austin solved his combination.
He's got his keys.
Jake forgot the keys.
A massive setback.
Here goes Austin. He's heading up.
Jake had a big lead, and he gave it away because he forgot the keys that he
worked so hard to get.
Katara has her third. Katara has her numbers. She's in on it. 41.
Dee's still working for that third and final sandbag.
Just misses.
Julie lands her second.
You've got to get up here to have a shot. Right now it is Austin and Jake.
Katura has it. Now she's got to release those keys and get up here.
Dee lands her third. She's got her numbers.
Katura quickly gets up here.
She's going to be in on this puzzle.
Julie, still working.
There, she's got it.
Dee solves her combo. She's got her keys.
You will use all these pieces. You are looking for all six to be the same
height. Then you can put disc on there, and it'll be flat and allow you to build
that second tier.
Keturah now is in on it.
Dee is now up here.
Austin and Jake trying to figure out they must be even.
You've got a bunch of pieces, different sizes.
Finally. Come on. There it is.
Finally, Julie's up here.
It's a three-tier puzzle. It is a long way from being finished.
Austin now thinks he has his six.
Put that disc on top.
If it lays flat, then you know you got it right. You can move on.
Looks good.
Austin now decidedly in the lead can move on to bag number two.
Julie getting in on it.
Jake, you've got five that are right.
Is that six that are right? Jake thinks he has it. That's how quickly it can
come together.
Jake in a place is now.
Jake has his first tier.
Places the disc. You're good. Move on to bag number two. It is now Jake working
on that second tier alongside Austin. Dee trying to get back in it. Couture
trying to stay in it. Julie was dead last, but she's back in it.
Julie thinks she has tier one. She's right, and she is. Julie can move on to
the second stage.
Julie's now in on it with Jake and Austin.
Another reminder why you keep digging on Survivor. Julie was dead last.
Austin thinks he has that second tier sorted.
He's going to give it a go. Now has to place them on that first ring.
Do they line up?
Looking good. Will that ring drop?
It does. Austin moving on to the third and final tier.
Julie looking next door. Hard to pick up anything by looking at those pieces.
Jake thinks he has the second tier. Jake going to start putting his stacks in
place.
If he's right, Jake will be in it moving on to that third tier.
Is he right? Looks good. Jake moving on.
We got a showdown now.
Austin and Jake.
Now it's on.
There is no resting for anyone.
Jake's got to catch up. Austin wants to keep his lead.
One step closer to a million dollars in the title of sole survivor if you can
solve this final tier of this survivor puzzle.
Don't give up just because you get frustrated or stuck.
It can be just one or two pieces you have to move to solve this, figure out
your problem.
So just keep moving. Don't slow down.
Keep trying different combinations.
Jake moves pieces again.
Again, just short.
Austin moving pieces around.
Is this the right combo? Let's go.
He thinks it is.
This would put him in the final four.
We cannot be voted out of this game.
If he's right, this is it.
For the win.
He's got to place it without knocking anything over and get that third and
final ring on top.
He's got it for the win. Here it is. Let's go.
There you go, Pitt.
Austin wins immunity.
Guaranteed a spot in the final four.
He cannot be voted out of this game.
Wow. That was a showdown. Great
challenge. Just want to point out
one thing.
That piece.
I was missing it. Was there the whole time.
Oh, wow.
Whoa.
Damn. Austin, come on over.
austin safe tonight at tribal council cannot be voted out not only tonight you
aren't going to be ever voted out of this game doesn't mean you get to the
end but you have a spot in four walk me through the feeling right now especially
knowing that it literally came down to one piece and for jake it was a piece he
didn't know he was missing it it's almost no words there's just so many
things coming in part of me wants to cry part of me just wants to like scream
it's just i don't know it's It's going to take a hot time to process. I'm just
in a whirl right now. It's amazing.
All right, Austin, in addition to immunity, you have earned a nice reward.
Afternoon at the sanctuary.
You're going to choose one person and only one person to join you.
Who's it going to be and why?
Jake, you haven't gotten many rewards, and you had me till the end, man. Yo,
thanks, brother. That was a battle, man. That was the funnest one yet. Thank you
for that. Thank you.
Thank you very much, brother.
Austin, cannot be voted out of this game. As for the rest of you, after 24
days, somebody will be the 14th person voted out, the seventh member of our
jury. Austin, Jake, head out.
The boat will pick you up. Have a good afternoon.
D, Katara, Julie, got nothing for you. Grab your stuff, head back to camp.
Not even close.
Losing the challenge today because I lost that puzzle piece, it's kind of
representative of myself in this game because I'm just looking for that...
last piece of a move that I can own.
But it's like, I got the idol, so I'm not out yet. Like, I'm not ever gonna
quit and ever stop fighting for number one.
I'm tired of being so pathetic at these challenges.
Ugh. It was so damn hard. That was difficult.
Losing brought up a lot of mixed emotions for me.
I wasn't worried about the steak and the potato. I didn't care about the food.
But there's something really different about this being the last challenge
where you can vote somebody out before the final four fire making.
I think I'm going to get in the water. And so I'm going to have to grovel
because I know that if I do want Dee to go, I'm going to need Julie to vote for
Dee. Dee is connected to Austin at the hip. I mean, and they really are.
This is the main reason I'm thinking about having Dee go.
I would love to take out Dee.
How do you feel about that?
To be fair, Keturah, I'm going to be honest with you. I would love to go to
the end with you.
Okay. I'm serious. How is that to be fair and be honest with me? That sounds
like you're leading up for a but.
Yeah.
I feel like we'd have more numbers if we just got Dee to vote Jake with us.
Really? I just don't trust Jake.
I would prefer Jake being the next vote. He's been after me for a long time. And
Dia's had my back this entire game. And I will have hers.
Okay. Well, let's go talk her up about Jake. Let's just at least try.
And even though I have done a lot of cutting and backstabbing and
blindsiding, I need to show some loyalty. And I think the jury will want
to see a loyal mom with at least one relationship.
How crazy would it be if we just finally did what we've been trying to do for
like five tribals and just got Jake out?
I'm freaking down.
Really? We got the three.
Might as well just take him out. So far, the main name being thrown out there is
Jake. It's better for my game if Jake goes home because he's good at fire
making. I don't want to go against him.
And Jake is an attorney. You know, he persuades a jury for a living. So I'm
just hoping that.
They don't get that close.
I mean, I don't think Jake can get as close to Austin as you.
And there's the smile.
Oh, my God.
Cheers, man.
Cheers. Oh, that's beautiful.
What is this, a cap?
You know what?
I decided to take Jake on the reward for a couple reasons.
Firstly, this dude has been struggling the most. Like, he's been on the least
amount of rewards. But the big reason why I wanted to bring Jake was
strategic. Because I know that if I take Jake to the sanctuary, he will spill all
his secrets and tell me everything I need to know to make sure I can make the
best decision going into Tribal Council tonight.
All right. So you think Julie's looking for idols right now?
Yep. Julie doesn't have it.
I have it.
You have it? Yeah.
No, you don't. Yeah, I do. Dude, for real?
Bro. I'm going to Final Four.
Yo!
I tell Austin about my idol, and I tell him, I'm playing it on myself.
Me and you, Austin, we're going to be at four.
We cannot be voted out of this game. Can't be voted out.
But I don't just need to make sure I get to tomorrow. I need to make a successful
idol play.
I want to be in the end with you. I think you want to be in the end with me.
So my entire game plan right now is Julie goes tonight.
Okay.
I'm not sure. What's your argument for Julie? I just don't see Katora as a
threat whatsoever.
Julie's a bigger threat. I think my best shot at winning is between you and
Katora. Jake very clearly wants Julie out. He thinks Julie is going to win
this game if she gets to the end.
So I'm voting for Julie tonight.
Yeah. However, Jake tells me that he has an idol.
I'm sorry, but...
Why'd you tell me, bro?
Why'd you tell me?
Is that them already?
Oh, don't tell anyone about my tank.
You can't? Yeah.
Thank you.
Jake has an idol.
Oh. He found it. He found it? And he made me promise not to tell anyone. He's
gonna play it tonight.
Uh-huh. On himself.
So then we gotta vote for Troy, then. Yeah.
Jake having an idol at this point in the game ruins my plans.
He wants Julie out, right? He wants Julie out.
So now, because Austin has immunity, Jake has an idol. That leaves me, Julie,
and Katora one in three chances of going home, and that's so damn scary.
Do you believe him? He showed me. It's legit.
I want Katora out.
But Katora is a danger to be in this game right now because she's kind of
played the middle game.
and she's been at the right side of the votes from Merge and on. So she has a
story to tell, and she's good at telling her story.
I mean, there's still a possibility that the three of them vote me.
But he was pretty clear what he wanted.
I think it is a foregone conclusion on Julie, don't you?
Yeah. I don't think Julie has an idol.
She does not.
She's desperate.
She can keep looking.
You have it!
No!
Oh, my God!
Son of a biscuit eater! Like, if J.K.'s an idol, and the three girls are voting
for Jake.
Damn, that sucks, because Jake's gonna negate our three votes. So you gotta
play this tonight.
Yeah, I'm just gonna save myself.
Yeah, I mean, you should anyway.
But if Jake negates the other girls' votes, and me and Jake vote for Dee, it
doesn't matter what Austin actually does, and we can send Dee home.
I really think it should be Dee.
I think we blindside Dee now, we take Julie out tomorrow.
Dee has always was viewed as a strong competitor.
She's won two immunities. She could potentially win a third immunity
tomorrow. Of the people left, she's the most likely to win this challenge
tomorrow.
And then she walks in that jury at final four, having won three immunities, she
takes Austin, and that's one spot left for me and you.
Sorry, I'm just thinking. No, I agree. I wanted to.
It's a really good argument.
I'm genuinely torn.
Today during the steak dinner, I was telling Austin, I'm like, yeah, Julie,
100%. And I felt that way.
But now I'm like, Katora just made a really good argument for D.
Going back and forth. And I'm honestly conflicted. But the thing about my idol
is that I need to have the most impact possible.
I don't think the votes are on me tonight.
But I know Katora's name has come up a couple times, so I can use it to do
something flashy and potentially save an ally.
It's funny because, like, this whole game, I've been dying to be in control,
and now I feel like I have a little bit of power, but what the hell do I do with
it? I just can't be missing another puzzle piece.
It has to be Katora tonight.
Sucks, but it has to be her.
Well, I would really prefer Jake.
What? I have to tell you something. Okay.
He has an idol. Jake does?
It could be a lie.
But, like, you can never believe anything 100%. You can't. When Dean
tells me that Jake has an idol, I don't believe it. I mean, there is still a
chance that he's just bluffing, because that's the only move he's got.
And it would help his game.
if he was able to get me out. So I'm going to have to do Jake and hope that
the idol is fake.
Is this the best move right now to do Keturah?
Is it?
So who do you want, Julie?
I don't know.
I've been thinking I need to get rid of Keturah. But the more I started thinking
about it, is that actually what's best for my game?
Or should I just vote out Julie?
I've already tried voting out Julie twice because I think she is closest
with the other jury members, and it's hard to compete against a mama out here.
If I don't have to write Julie's name down, I would appreciate that. I know,
but if she's gone, it's so easy to take out Keturah later.
I'm gonna still write Keturah's name down for sure. So you do what you think
is best for your game.
Either or, I'm gonna support you.
and we're gonna go to the end. I have to just make sure I separate my emotional
side, my personal relationships, with what's actually best for my game. And
that's been a struggle that I've been having this entire time out here, and
it's only gotten worse today.
Are you okay?
No.
I'm 100% in on D.
If you're 100% in on D, we have the numbers.
Yeah, D's gone.
Okay, I'm trusting you, Jake. Yeah, you should. Like, tonight's the night I'm
trusting you.
Yeah, you should.
I do not trust those eyes.
If we don't, the jury won't be in the majority. What do you want me to swear
on? What are you willing to? Anything.
Say something.
Swear on my necklaces, dude.
Nana. Sure, Nana. Whatever. I'm voting for D. Say it.
I swear on Nana. I'm voting for D.
Okay, all right. I'm good. I hope this works. Let's come back tonight, please.
We are coming back tonight. Okay. Because you are coming back tonight.
Okay. We are coming back tonight. We are coming back tonight.
I would love for my plan to work, for Dee to go home, and for me to make it in
the Final Four without the Dee-Austin pair.
But my name could very well be on the block tonight.
I do not want to go out at Final Five.
I'm at the finish line. I can see it. I'm right there.
And I am super freaking stressed out because I know it all hinges on Jake.
But can I trust Jake fully to vote out Dee with me?
start with this morning everybody had an opportunity to earn a small but
still worthy advantage in today's immunity challenge jake you earned that
advantage get out to the challenge it gives you a decent time lead which you
instantly squandered nonetheless we end up in a showdown you and austin side by
side win once again an opportunity was missed because you had one puzzle
piece that you didn't know you were missing how much have you thought about
that today thanks chef uh i'm just happy i didn't have to recap it all myself so
i actually do appreciate the recap uh yeah it was close but i was missing a
piece and it wasn't gonna happen and it's unfortunate but there's a game to
play i'm not dwelling on it julie when you left here last tribal You didn't go
back to your old beach. You went and had to start over again. Yeah, I think that
we all woke up this morning and thinking I've got this.
Unfortunately, I did not.
I couldn't pull it out and that's going to hurt. What do you mean that's going
to hurt? Are you implying you're going home? I think there's a chance I've been
dodging bullets. They've been watching it and I don't know if I can escape one
tonight. Katara, is it fair to say that everybody here sees everybody as a
threat on some level?
Absolutely, Jeff.
And I, like everybody else, woke up standing up a little straighter. I'm
like, it's, you know, final five. Let's go. I'm ready to win this. And now I
feel a complete shift from this morning's high energy excitement.
And now it's like we're at tribal and I have a 25% chance of going home. And I
know for a fact that everybody views everybody in some way as a threat.
So Dee, what do you do today when you're trying to get the vote off of you and
onto somebody else?
Every time you hear your name, you've got to pop up with somebody else's name
because it's you or them. And it's like, hey, this is why they're a threat to
your game.
Especially now that we're getting closer to the end, it's hard to kind of really
read between the lines. And it sucks because sometimes you do know who's
going home, but you can't tell them that they're going home.
It's really hard.
Jake, it's a real conundrum because...
it takes relationships to get the votes at the end and yet if you make
relationships it's more difficult to vote somebody out so you can get to the
end to get the votes from the relationships you made you know what i i
think that juxtaposition right there is why survivor's been on for 45 seasons
survivor is not a chess board people might be saying it moves from numbers
numbers numbers to relationships relationships relationships depending on
the portion of the game i think it's both it started as both in the middle of
us both and now it's both i agree with that i don't think it changes and i
don't think that changes tonight well it doesn't sound like it's going to be
an easy one but it is time to vote d you're up
I'm changing my vote because I'm pretty sure everybody's voting for me.
i'll go tally the votes
anybody
has an advantage or an idol and you want to play it tonight is the last
night you can do so jeff have you heard my tony
impression nope
Would you like to? No.
Could you validate this for me?
Playing this for yourself?
I'm playing that for Katora. No!
No!
No!
Yes. Thank you. Thank you.
This is a hidden immunity idol. Any votes cast for Keturah will not count.
I'll read the votes.
Is it going to be D?
First vote, Keturah does not count.
Yes!
Jake, one vote Jake.
D,
one vote Jake, one vote D.
Julie. That's one vote Jake, one vote Dee, one vote Julie, one vote left.
Fourteenth person voted out and the seventh member of our jury.
Julie. Need to bring me your torch?
Want me to tell you something?
Yes.
Go to law school.
Huh?
Love you guys.
Love you.
You made me swear on Nana, dude. What the hell?
Julie,
the tribe has spoken.
Time for you to go.
I'll see y'all.
Congratulations on making it to the final four.
Tomorrow you'll compete in your final immunity challenge.
Try to get some sleep.
Grab your torches, head back to camp.
Good night.
Thanks, Seth.
My biggest fear was to be the first person voted out, and it turns out I'm
the last person voted out. I guess they didn't want to take me to final three,
and I'm going to take that as a compliment.
right now i'm hoping i made my kids proud
all
right so let's break that down yeah get back from the wood katora wants you d
she tried to tell me d all afternoon i finally said okay she said swear on your
family or something and i said all right fine and then tomorrow switched your
vote had trouble good doing
Honestly, at the end of the day, Jake, you can be upset, but I just don't trust
Jake, and I just didn't feel like I could go on a plan with him. And I'm
sorry, and I understand that you're upset. No, that's fine, but then if
you're gonna make me swear on something, how do you not go with that?
Oh, man, dude, that tribal sucked.
My plan was to play the idol for Katora. She would be safe, I would be safe, D
would be gone.
Like, I thought, like, towards the end of the game, you know what I mean,
things would shake up a little bit.
and i could do something and i just haven't been able to and it's ah that's
why i'm frustrated i don't like if you didn't trust me like why did you make me
swear on something that i was gonna do well jake i mean i think there needs to
be some personal accountability here too i didn't make you do anything jake's
strategy is literally all over the place why would you play your idol on me and
not tell me you were gonna play your idol on me if i knew jake was gonna play
his idol for me and i could trust that he would have
to vote for Dee.
It literally, Jake, it literally came down to me saying, what do I feel with
my gut? And I was like, it's likely that there will at least be one Julie vote
out there. And if I throw another Julie vote on there, that could be the one
vote that saves me. And that's the only reason why I did it, Jake. It was
literally self-preservation. Yeah.
Right now, 100%, I'm kicking myself.
If I had stuck to our original plan and voted for Dee, Dee would have went home.
And now I'm in the final four with Dee and Austin.
two people who love each other and who are going to go to bat for each other no
matter what
come
on in
look
at that
Warriors. Yeah, baby. Day 25, Survivor 45.
It comes down to this.
Good morning, Jeff. Good morning. Good morning.
Welcome to the final immunity challenge of Survivor
45. Okay. Let's do it. First things first, Austin, for the second time.
I got to take it back. Thank you.
For the last time, immunity is back up for grabs.
For today's challenge, you're going to maneuver through a grid of ropes while
using a long fork to place a bull on a perch.
Once you get a bull, you go back and get another one.
Here's what's going to make it tricky. The entire structure is connected to
that perch.
So if you hit a rope just a little too hard, that perch will wobble, your bulls
will drop.
You'll have to start again.
First person to finish wins in unity.
Guaranteed a spot at that final tribal council where you will get a chance to
plead your case to your jury about why you deserve the title of sole survivor
and the million dollar check that goes along with it. In addition, as you know,
you also have power because you decide who you put in that second seat next to
you and who you force.
to make fire to earn that third and final seat biggest stakes of the season
shall we draw for spots and get to it let's do it here we go all
right
here we go for a guaranteed spot in the final three on survivor 45.
survivors ready
Go! You're transporting bowls using a long fork. You can't use your hands.
You're trying to maneuver quickly through this rope grid.
It's really easy in the beginning because you don't have anything at
stake. You don't have any bowls yet.
So you can hit that rope a little bit. It's not going to matter.
But the more bowls you get and the higher that stack gets, the more
difficult it will be.
It's tricky going out. It's tricky coming back.
Everybody with their first ball quickly.
Couture taking a little longer.
Austin sees what happens with just a little wobble. Austin loses his first
ball. Now he's got to pick it up and head back, start over.
While Dee places her second ball. It's now Dee in the lead.
D has won two immunities. Austin has won two immunities. Nobody else has won any.
Keturah working very slowly.
Jake racing back.
D heading back for another.
D, a little bit of a wobble.
No damage.
You have 17 total, so a long way to go in this challenge.
It is possible to do this entire challenge and never drop.
But it requires precision.
You cannot make a mistake.
Dee has eight. Here comes Jake with his eight.
Dee has led this challenge from the beginning.
Jake's been right in it. Austin trying to stay in it.
Austin racing back with his seven.
Keturah placing her sixth.
Everybody doing a nice job on day 25 of high stepping this grid of rope.
And yet, if you are not the lead, you've got to think about picking up your pace
a little bit.
Austin stumbles and loses everything.
You can see it on his face. A moment of just giving in.
He's got to pick up all his bulls now and start over.
That gives a huge advantage right now to Dee and Jake.
They only have each other to worry about.
But you never know what's going to happen in this challenge.
Dee coming back with her tenth ball.
Jake right on her tail with his tenth ball.
And a million dollars on the line.
It would be Dee's third individual immunity win. It would be Jake's first.
Keep digging!
He has been perfect, has not dropped a ball.
Jake has been perfect.
But now it's gonna get a little more difficult.
The higher that stack gets, the more treacherous any movement on that perch
becomes.
Keturah working slowly for her ninth.
She's in it, but still far behind.
Austin, slow and steady, hoping for a tragic mistake by both Dee and Jake.
Jake with a big wobble, but no damage.
We're tied again.
Here comes Dee with her 13th.
He has been very steady once again in a challenge in which balance and dexterity
come into play.
Dee placing her 13th ball. There are 17 total.
Jake right on her tail.
Come on, Jake. Come on, Jake.
Jake places his 13th, but he slowed down on that leg a lot.
Dee has almost caught him now.
No! Jake loses everything.
Wide open for Dee right now. There is nobody close.
Dee places her 14th bull.
Relax.
Jake has to start over again.
And now it is Dee firmly in the lead with only three bowls left and a
guaranteed spot at three on the line.
Dee coming back with her 15th bowl.
Can she be perfect in this challenge?
Jake struggling even to get all his bowls at once. He has to make another
trip. Jake, you break that challenge, you're out.
Jake! What?
You're out.
You gotta be kidding me, man.
Jake, that's on you.
Sorry, I was trying to go quick. Yeah, I know.
Jake, hustling, too aggressive on the challenge, broke the challenge.
Jake, with no shot at winning this.
Dean, two balls left.
Very high, with a nice touch.
Relax. Austin and Keturah continue to work because you never know. It's still
a long way to the end for Dee.
She's got to get the final goal, get out here, stack it, not drop and get back.
Jake can only watch.
Good job, Dee.
Frustration of 25 days showing itself.
Here comes Dee for the win.
Keturah coming back with 11 now.
Couture loses everything.
She's got to start again.
D, last bull.
Got to lift it high.
There it is for D, the final bull.
Now all she has to do is get back to that starting platform, and it's over.
With every step, she is getting closer to the final three, where she will get a
chance to plead her case to the jury.
Dee has won the final immunity challenge of survivor 45 her third
individual win Guarantee yourself a spot at the final three
Dee, come on over.
Oh, man.
For the third time, maybe the biggest, individual immunity is yours. You cannot
be voted out of this game. You are going to the final three. Before we get to
everything else, I remember the first time you won this necklace.
You talked about the American dream.
What is that about? What is that feeling for you, and how is it represented now
that you've done what you set out to do, is get to the end?
Jeff, Survivor has been such a journey for me.
Every single moment I stack something up, I thought about my parents and the
American dream, and I wouldn't be here without them. And I feel proud of
myself. I really do.
So here's the deal, Dee.
You have a seat at the final three.
You also have the power to look at these three, Keturah, Jake, and Austin, and
decide, who do I want to bring to travel with me? And who do I want to force to
make fire for that third and final seat?
There is still a lot of uncertainty in this game. The only thing we know for
sure, D is in charge.
Grab your stuff and back to camp. I'll see you tonight at Tribal Council.
Congrats. Thank you.
Congrats, D. I'm sorry about breaking the challenge.
Jake, you're good.
Me being upset at the challenge, it's not even getting beat by D.
Thanks, Jeff.
But to break the challenge today and be told I was just like, it's not my
breaking point because I'm still going and I'm still fighting, but it's just...
I got a snowball's chance in hell, dude, but you know what? The snowball's gonna
keep rolling, and that's all I can do, and it's... I wish I was a bigger
snowball, but, like... I gotta work with what I got.
Look at all that wood.
Oh, yeah.
Not only did I win on this final individual immunity challenge, I have
won the most individual immunity challenge on season 45.
Loser. Dude, congrats. Good job.
And this is probably the most power that I've had in the game and that anyone
will have on Survivor.
I get to choose who sits next to me in that final three.
And then I also get to choose who goes for the fire making.
I know I have a hard decision to make, but if anyone wants to talk strategy, if
anyone wants to talk as a friend, if anyone just wants to be alone, like I
get it. And like, I'm here.
I feel like I've checked so many bucket list items that I don't need to put
myself in fire. But of course I have an idea of who I'm taking a final three.
I'm not going to lie.
Ideally Austin's next to me because.
We have a plan to go to the end together.
And the reason why I would throw Katora and Jake in the fire is because I know
that Jake can beat Katora.
I think Katora has played a better game than Jake. She's more of a social
threat. But I'm open because it's the most important decision that I'm going
to make in this game.
I've made so many swings in this game and I just keep missing, missing,
missing, missing, missing, missing, missing, missing.
So what is your ask? To take you?
No, to not.
To not take you? Please don't. You don't want me to take you? No.
Please don't. You want to go in with just working hard. I want something,
man. Yeah.
No plan, like, went, like, my way, and I just, like... Like, if I lose this game,
like, I lose this game, but I want to be able to say that, like, I did something.
You know what I mean?
Mm-hmm.
If I'm in this game, I need to make fire. I need it so bad. Like, I don't,
like, even beyond the million dollars, even beyond this game, I want to make
fire. I just want to do it for me.
Do you feel good with fire?
I think I can do it.
Up until this point, Jake hasn't really had any big moves. So I can feel for him
because I know that he wants to go out with pride.
You're going to do that? You're going to put me in? Yes, I will honor that. Thank
you. Can I give you a hug? Thank you so much.
Let's go.
Are you just automatically thinking take Austin?
Yeah.
I mean, I guess when you think of sitting beside me, like, what's your
biggest concern?
So, I freaking love you, man.
I'm afraid that the jury feels you more than they feel me.
Because I feel you a lot.
So it scares me to take you next to me.
But take that as a compliment.
I am afraid of bringing Keturah into the final three because she's loving, she's
sweet, she knows how to articulate her words.
She has a chance at winning.
I do think you should work on your fire.
That's what I was expecting anyway.
So I want Jake.
to beat her in fire making.
I know that Dee wants to get me out at this fire making challenge.
It's going to be my undoing. I knew it. I caught it. I predicted it like to a T.
If we keep Dee in this game, she'll win the last challenge. She'll have three
amenities under her belt. She'll make us go to fire.
She'll take Austin to the final travel council. And it's happening.
I can literally only blame myself.
Like, I switched to vote at the last minute. I made a decision that I knew
was poor out of peer.
I'm gonna lose this game for this.
Damn it.
I have not given up. I just... I want it so badly, it's gonna hurt so much.
But... I am Keturah.
And I can't usually do things that I don't know how to do or that I find
difficult. It's not real.
I am going to suck it up and give my all to this fire-making challenge. If I pull
this off... Oh, my God. What if Keturah pulled
it out and beat Jacob? Ooh, D would be so bitter.
So you're thinking Drake versus Couture? Yeah, of course. I don't want Couture at
the final. You want to put me in fire?
No. Is it that easy?
Huh? Is it that easy? At a strategic level, obviously, I would love to go to
fire because I'm very confident that I would win against whoever I compete
against. I think Couture definitely needs to go. Yeah.
Dee wants Keturah out, I want Keturah out, but Dee knows exactly what it means
to send me to fire with Keturah. It means I'm going to win it, and I'm going
to have some flashy little move in front of the jury right before final tribal
council, and she doesn't want that. So it is in Dee's best interest that Jake
does it. I do think he should put me in if it seems like Jake can't do the job.
Oh, no, Jake will definitely beat her. I think he will definitely beat her.
That's a given.
That's a given.
Now is the time for me to put every last bit I got in the tank and throw the tank
in with it and make this fire.
You can say so many negative things about my game, but no one is going to
say in this game that Jake ever gave up.
Not bad.
Knowing that I'm not going to be put to fire, the next best thing I can do is
make sure Jake wins.
That can get fire. It's about, like, building it properly.
Yeah. Okay, so light that and then put it here, and then I can show you how I
build it up, I guess. Okay, yeah, no, that's a good idea.
But he's got this, like, super weird pyramid.
No fires happening right now.
I would probably use a little more than that, especially in the actual
challenge, you should use a lot more than that. There's not that much time
until we're going to the fire-making challenge, and I'm like, oh, no.
He... is not nearly as good at fire making as I gave him credit for in the
beginning. I'm going to call a day on this one in another minute.
All right, man.
Thanks, bro. No problem.
So now, best case scenario is I'm able to convince D that it needs to be me to
take out Couture in the fire making challenge.
I went over to Jake and... Yeah, I was going to ask you to hold that. He's not
very good. He's not very good? No.
Dude, Jake is terrible at building it up.
Just to be safe, you should put me against her.
Right now, I don't know what to do, because if I throw Austin and Katora in
the fire, I know Austin's gonna be Katora. And then he's gonna have another
add-on on his resume that is fresh on the jury's mind. And do I really want
that? Ah, you know, it's a lot.
This is the biggest decision that I will make on Survivor. And if I mess this up,
it can potentially cost me the million dollars.
Okay, so Dee wins the final immunity challenge of the season. Your
third individual immunity win.
You are safe. You are in the final three.
You accomplished what everybody dreams about, which is, can I put myself in a
spot that I can at least plead my case to the jury? So walk me through what
happened when you got back to camp, because you have a big decision. You're
going to bring one person with you to three.
And make two people make fire.
Right. I came back to camp, and right away, Jake pulled me aside. We had a
conversation. Then Keturah pulled me aside. We had a conversation.
And then Austin and I had a conversation.
And today's conversations that I had were very open and honest.
Keturah, what was your conversation with Dee about?
It was open and honest.
She basically told me that she doesn't feel comfortable sitting beside me in
the final three.
That she believes that I've, you know, made a lot more moves than other people
realize. And she's afraid of me talking at the end.
How does that feel to have somebody tell you that they see your strengths? They
see the game you played, even though you are and could be her competition.
mixed feelings because my game has been to hide my strengths.
Dee has had the privilege of being, you know, by my side for a few of them. And
so she does know some of them. And at this point, I kept my moves hidden so
that I wouldn't end up on the jury. And it's actually backfire because now today
I'm making fire.
Austin, what was your chat with Dee like?
Right now, I feel pretty good with my fire making. I kind of told her, like,
put me in, I'd be happy. But understandably, I don't think she really
wants to do that right now.
Why? Well, I mean, it's just, it's another thing, like a potential move to
be made.
Meaning if Dee put you in fire and you won, that's another notch on your belt.
Potentially, yeah. But at the end of the day, it's like you come to Survivor to
be able to pitch your story and your game to the jury.
You know, whether I get there through fire or being brought with her, you
know, I'm grateful either way.
Jake, what was your pitch?
I asked to make fire tonight.
You want to make fire? Yeah, I want to make fire.
I didn't want to be taken to the end. I wanted the opportunity to experience
every single part of this game, so I asked Dee if she'd allow me to make fire
tonight.
All right, Dee, so it sounds like you've made your decision, but let's be
official. Who are you bringing with you to the final three?
I'm bringing Austin to the final three.
So, Austin, you now have done...
What everybody who plays Survivor dreams of doing is getting a shot to pitch my
case. They're going to get that shot. You're in the final three. Yeah, I mean,
I'm stoked. Obviously, it's something that I've dreamed about, so I'm just
excited to be here next to Dee, and it's going to be a showdown. We're going to
be going at each other for sure. So, Keturah, before you and Jake head over
to make fire, where is all the energy and adrenaline and anxiety living?
I think the energy is just focus again.
All I can do is zone in and put my best foot forward, and I'm going to continue
to fight like hell, which is what I've been doing this whole time, and I'll do
that here.
Jake, how about you?
What's going on inside right now?
I'm making a fire. I'm burning a rope. I'm doing it as fast as possible.
That's what's up.
All right, Katura, Jake, take a spot. Either one is okay.
Jake and Katura, I'm going to give you both a moment to settle.
Calm yourself if you need to. Think about your strategy, and then we will do
our final four fire-making challenge for Survivor 45.
All
right,
Keturah and Jake, are you both ready?
Heck yeah. You both have the exact same supplies.
What you're looking to do is make a flame.
that burns hot enough and high enough to burn through that rope first person to
do it will get the third seat at final tribal shall we begin yes this challenge
is on here we go day 25 survivor 45
katura did not want to be here wasn't her first choice but she's
here jake pleaded to be here he got his wish
One will prevail.
I don't know if I can watch this.
Who will it be?
Keturah.
Getting some magnesium shavings.
Those are good igniters.
Jake now working with his flint, doing the same thing.
It's a common approach is to build a little pile of magnesium and then try to
spark that. See if you can get something going.
Okay, getting a little bit of spark.
Couture getting a little bit of spark.
Couture trying to nurture that into a flame.
Right as she did, a little gust of wind came up. Jake now has some Hessian
string burning. It's impressive, but it'll burn out quickly.
He's going to have to build something now that will grow and sustain.
Couture now going to feel that pressure.
Jake now adding some smaller sticks, trying to get something to take hold.
Keturah has a bit of a flame. Can she nurture it without smothering it?
Keturah's flame is
out.
Jake said, I'm going to sit down and make fire. That's what I'm doing.
Right now, that is what he's doing. It's a small flame, but it's sticking.
Katara gonna give it a go again.
She's got spark and she get flame.
Jake's got a single flame now starting to burn higher, getting closer to that
rope.
Katara striking again.
Lots of spark, no flame yet.
Jake's fire growing now.
Keturah's got a little flame.
Once again, goes out.
Jake's rope starting to burn a little bit.
Jake's fire getting bigger now. Keturah continues to work. Jake's fire doing a
nice job now.
He's right on that rope.
One fiber at a time is all you need. When that flag pops, it's over.
Burn the rope, not me.
That is a big flame.
Yes!
Jake wins the fire-making showdown of Survivor 45 and takes the final spot in
the final three. It will be Jake, Austin, and Dean making their case
tomorrow night at our final tribal council.
Great job.
You're speaking. You're going to be an amazing lawyer.
That's what you decided to do.
I know.
Jake,
congratulations. Thank you. You did what you said you were going to do. You are
in the final three of Survivor 45.
Well done.
Thanks, Jeff. Thank you.
Look at that fire.
What's the emotion for you, Jake?
I just, I like... want to go back in time and give 15 year old jake a hug and
say hey buddy guess what we did you know what i mean like it's it's it's why 15
year old jake what's significant about you at that point in your life when i
was 15 i always thought i'd be like the fat kid forever the fat guy forever i
always thought like i'm not loyal material i can't do that like survive is
just a tv show it's pie in the sky it's not real but i want to go back in time
and tell myself like it's real and you can do it and like you're gonna get
there man you know and i did and i jeff
that's that's one of the best moments of my life right there burning that
rope congratulations thank you jeff thank you guys thank you for letting me
do that and on the other end what has this been
about for you katara i knew coming in here that would be giving up a lot of
control and there would be a lot of unknown that may occur and that's why i
was terrified i'm very planned and i've never lived with my heart i leave with
my head i'm very strategic i'm very logical um you know you guys don't know
this but i am a lawyer yes this girl is way too good of a speaker i'm like dude
she's great a hell of a lot better than me but you know i'm proud that i was
able to put that to the side and it wasn't really me trying to be dishonest
it was me saying what if i set it to the side and i was just katura and these
people only know me as katara and it was really cool to see that they accepted me
for that they loved me like julie hugged me and was like you need to be a lawyer
we love you and i was like honestly like five years ago couture really would have
loved to hear that and i can kind of take it and put it in this couture right
now and i've just been on such a healing and learning journey and i'm grateful
for that experience i love you couture i love you guys all
right couture you need to bring your torch
Jeff, I never wanted you to say that.
Damn.
Didn't even think I would like this look.
Dude,
I know it, dude. She's so good. You know what I mean? Damn.
So good with words.
Katara, the tribe has spoken.
Time for you to go.
Love you.
Love you, Katara. Love you guys.
Good luck. Give them hell.
Austin, Dee, Jake, congratulations.
You did what 15 other people couldn't do in this game. You got to the end.
Now the power shifts from this side to this side. Eight people voted out.
are the jury. And tomorrow night, they're going to ask you questions.
They're looking for somebody to stand up and claim their victory. Why you deserve
the title of sole survivor and the million dollar check that goes along
with it. They're going to bring their best game.
Hopefully you will too. You have one more night in Fiji. I hope you can enjoy
it and get some sleep. I have a feeling you're going to need it. Grab your
torches, head back to camp. Good night.
Oh, we're final three. Yeah.
Final three.
Last sunrise on PG.
I literally am living the dream. I'm living the survivor dream.
Final three on day 26.
All I can think is, mama, I made it. Mommy, papi, this is for you.
And whether I win or not, they're going to be proud of me. I am going to win,
though.
breakfast man did you have breakfast this morning so did i first time in 26
days but i'll take it all right let's put this somewhere the final three
breakfast i've been daydreaming about this since day one it symbolizes so much
the breakfast at a time where we can all sit around 45 baby
Just reflect on what a journey it's been and how grateful we all are to be here
together, regardless of what's going to happen tonight.
Wait,
should we put the bags? Yeah.
All right. Let's talk about the jury.
The jury, man.
Let's do it.
I'm so excited. I'm also nervous. I don't know what the jury is thinking.
And tonight comes down to whose game the jury respects the most.
All right, well, clearly we're going to start with Caleb.
Caleb, he had this ability to just talk with everybody, so I felt like him being
here was trouble.
That kid's an absolute, like, fighter.
Jake might deserve my vote because he had the hardest path here out of anybody
in the final three.
He was the person who was fighting against this majority reba alliance and
was trying to pull in pieces that refused to understand the bigger
picture. I do think he had more of the right instincts than people realize.
All right, who's next?
Kelly. Kelly, damn.
Kelly, from the moment that I met her, I knew, man, this girl's going to be hard
to beat if she makes it to the end.
I think, indeed, she had the social relationships where people were
unwilling.
to vote her out even though it was probably their best move.
That's really powerful.
Okay, after Kelly was Kendra.
I've never met a more free spirit than Kendra, and she just lives life her way,
and I think that's something that very few people in this world have. Her
facial expressions crack me up. And she's funny. She's a funny-ass chick.
Austin played an extremely great game, coming in as a big threat, as a big
physical player, creating strong alliances, never getting your name
written down, and also took Survivor by the horns and played this game.
i just think that is so badass all right and then next up we'll have bruce the
old man he's just like a fountain of deep knowledge of the game you know he
came back for a reason like he was special yeah he was to get my vote own
who you are in this game own what you've done in this game the good the bad and
the ugly jay could turn into the greatest trial lawyer in the entire
world and i'll look at that and be like oh man and he could get my vote
Emily could have won this game. And no one had a better story than Emily.
Nobody had a better story than Emily. Emily had more growth than anyone in
this game. End of story.
Who are you?
Jake was the most lied to and gaslit person in this game.
everybody treated him like a pawn and he said to himself i can either let that
ruin my game or i can roll with it and there's a reason why he's sitting in the
final three because he was always a number that everybody needed nobody
could actually get rid of jake we all talked about getting rid of jake but
nobody could get rid of jake because if jake left their game was gone I really
think he could be a dark horse.
Drew. He is one of the coolest people ever.
He's so interesting. He was one of the few people in this game that I trusted
100% with everything.
Drew wins!
Yes! It makes me emotional talking about him because we just had such a close
friendship.
Austin is my main man, and I am rooting for him. He walked through every barrier
in front of him, and the guy never got a vote. I mean, there were ways in which
he was invincible. Even when things didn't go his way, he walked out
unscathed. And you really have to appreciate that.
Austin made it to the end through determination.
Mama Julie.
My God, she's my best friend.
I feel like I have two mothers now.
Like, it's that deep. It's that deep with me and Julie. I think we can go
far. I know we can.
and she was a good freaking player like she could relate to every single person
on this tribe d decided i'm going to find my alliance and i'm going to make
it work and that's an amazing game plan she insulated herself with people that
had her back and she was rock solid but you're not going to go home you're going
to play idol and we're both going to put it on emily she risked her game to keep
me alive That's huge.
Oh, Keturah. Last but not least.
She played such a different game from the rest of us.
She was always on the right side of the boat. She was so good at getting people
to talk to her and telling people what they needed to hear so that you keep
talking to her. Somehow her name never came up until the very end.
I'm looking to vote for the person who had the strongest gameplay overall, who
can show that even when they were focused on relationships, their head was
still in the game. I'm not going to reward passive gameplay.
I'm looking for people to show me how they were actively making moves.
Tonight we're fighting for a million dollars.
I'm literally unleashing myself.
I can't wait.
I know that I'm going to go full force at these guys. They're going to see a
side of me that they've never had to see on this island.
I got to just stop talking to you.
It pokes us in right now.
Don't worry, I'll give you a big hug when you lose.
I think it's going to be a brutal night, and I'm going to do everything in my
power to make sure it is me that wins this game.
What if I just turn into a completely different person this final trial? Then
good for you.
I think that Dee and Austin, while they played great games, they played safe
games. I never played safe.
I made fire last night. No one took me here. I took myself here. I might not
know a lot about Survivor, but I know how to get to the end.
I think I did a lot more with a lot less, and I'm going to fight to the
bitter end.
This is the one chance in a million dollars. I didn't come this far for
Austin or Jake to beat me.
I absolutely cannot wait to go head-to-head against Dee. And I do think
I played the best game, and I will beat her in the Final Tribal Council.
It's like I told Jeff I'm gonna make fire and I'm gonna burn a rope.
Tonight, I'm gonna go into Final Tribal, and I'm gonna argue my ass off.
And that's what I'm going to do.
Final Tribal is every- It's gonna 100% affect who I vote for. I want to see
Austin and Dee go at each other. I know that they might have lovey-dovey eyes
for each other, but, like, there needs to be shots.
I'm expecting, like, a knock-down, drag-out fight.
Like, it's gonna go to the marrow.
You have to prove your game.
This is a speech for a million dollars, so act like it. I am hoping for a
showdown tonight.
I need them to fight for their lives.
So here we are.
Jake, Dee, and Austin.
Anybody who plays Survivor imagines and hopes they'll get to this spot, but most
don't. It means you have to survive every tribal that you go to, and that is
tough to do. But you did it, and you've gone as far as you can go. Tonight, the
power shifts to the jury.
Eight people voted out of this game are going to cast a vote tonight, a million
-dollar vote for the person they think played the best game. Your job tonight
is to convince them it's you.
that's most deserving of the title of Sole Survivor and the million dollars
that goes along with it. This is your final test. Tonight, one of you will
claim your victory.
Jury, I'm going to give you a minute.
Organize your thoughts, and then we will get underway with the final Tribal
Council of Survivor 45.
It is time to begin the final interrogation of the jury to our final
three so you can gather the information you need to make a million dollar vote.
Obviously, most of the topics are going to center around social, strategic, and
physical, but there's a lot of overlap.
Kendra, get us started.
Hi, guys.
Hi, Kendra. Congratulations from the bottom of my heart. I'm so proud of all
of you.
Tonight, I'm here with a completely open mind.
So when you're talking, it's not about being the most eloquent talker. I want
to feel your truth.
How did you take Survivor by the horns and play this game?
Like, how did you take this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and make
it yours and not waste a single second?
Jake? Yeah, sure. Why not? I love this question. I'm just going to move this
way. Yeah, absolutely.
No, I appreciate that question so much. I mean...
My dad told me right before coming out here, he's like, Jake, juice this thing
for everything it's worth.
And you know what? I really feel like I did that. Like, there was nothing in
this game I was like, no, I'm not going to do. I went out spearfishing. I didn't
catch as many as Aquaman over here. But yeah, man, what am I going to do? Leave
and say I didn't do that? Like, come on.
And challenges, like, they weren't my forte. But I did bust my ass. I busted
my ass so hard that I broke a challenge.
Like, I had a lot of moments of sadness out here. Like, I...
i cried a lot out here but like every single second no matter how sad it was i
was still going but you sat on survivor you know what i mean so it was like but
like you know what like i love this game i've been watching it for 10 years thank
you so much jake thank you thank you for the question oh i felt that beat oh my
girl i know oh my god i i love the energy that you brought out because i
feel like i can relate a lot to your answer
Obviously, my reason for being here and making it to the end was my family and
retiring my parents and taking care of my loved ones and just giving back. But
I also told myself the good old days, they're going to be happening right now.
And of course, we have to be present. We don't have phones. We don't have social
media. We don't have anything. So we're forced to be present.
And I decided to say, D, just detach yourself from the outcome. You know, the
outcome is to win the million dollars, but take it day by day.
And, like, we're going to war, but I hope that we're all having fun, because
what is Survivor if you don't have fun at the end of it?
Wow. Thank you so much.
Awesome. Yeah, I mean, wow. I think the crazy thing, I guess, about my story is
I didn't know I was going to be playing this game until 72 hours before we hit
the beach. I was the alternate on the season.
So I just wanted to do absolutely everything. When I found the beware
advantage on day two, it was like, open it up. I don't care. Let's do this. If I
get voted out, whatever.
I ate everything that I possibly can.
Earthworms, eyeballs, anything.
Sea cucumber.
If it's given to me, I want to do everything I possibly can.
Watching myself develop and just trying to digest everything.
That's kind of the mentality that I've just been bringing on. Just experience
the most that I can and just have a great time and meet great people.
Absolutely. Thank you guys all.
wanted to see your guys's passion for this game which definitely shown through
so thank you guys i love kendra's question because it was all of your
answers were beautiful and so i kind of want to flip and think about facing your
fears what's a moment or moments that you've had in this game that terrified
you or made you extremely fearful and that you pushed through and conquered
them anyway And we can start with Austin.
I think the biggest thing I was scared about is the whole, I mean, like,
blindside things of things. Like, when you get close to people and having to
lie to their face, that was the thing I was most worried about. You know, the
vote against Julie at the very end was really hard. Like, I wrote her name down
three times, but the third time I wrote down her name was the hardest time for
me because it felt like this was actually my decision. And my heart was
like, don't do it. And it was hard, but I think that was something that I wasn't
able to do a vote or two before that.
Thank you.
I'm going to continue on Austin's answer because I feel like I'm the same way.
For me, I was extremely fearful of blindsiding or even betraying anyone in
my alliance. My two number ones was Julie and Austin, and I never had to
vote her out. I never had to vote him out. And the moment that Julie knew she
was going home, Austin told me, you know, I had already brought her along as
much as I could.
But at that point, I'm like, man, it might be the time that Julie's going
home. And I ended up telling Austin. I'm like, look, Austin, I'm going to be
there with you to support you. Whatever you decide to do, I'm just not going to
write her name down.
Jake. Thank you, counselor.
Of course.
So going through law school, like, there's a lot of pressure of, like,
failing out. And, like, one of, like, my big fears has always been, like,
failing. And that's something that happens on Survivor because not
everything goes your way.
and so just to fail and like know that i was okay and that i got
right back up and i started smiling again and like i really tackled a real
field of failure in this game for me and i'm i'm not i'm not afraid of it
that was beautiful jake i mean all of you that was perfect and i really
appreciate it thank you thank you true
So, Dean Austin, you talked about this kind of core four of RIBA, which Julie
and I might have some insight into, but is really like a mystery for a lot of
the jury. How did it stay together? How did it function?
Clarify a little bit for everyone what you brought to the core four of RIBA and
how that made the alliance so successful.
Okay, I'll start.
I love this alliance because it was the four of us and we stuck through it the
entire time and we would have a bunch of like honest and open conversations and
then from there we would vote together. Honestly, I can't sit here and say that
I pulled most of the moves. To be completely fair, I really had a lot of
luck in this game. Being put in Riva, I had a huge advantage over all of you.
It's just the truth.
I agree with most of that. We were very close. We did share all the information
together. We had our own kind of little separate webs. But that said, I feel
like I was a big reason for that. You know, during these tribal challenges, I
would give 120%, throwing the coconuts, climbing up the wall, doing the big
puzzles as well with Drew.
I felt that Dee was viewed as a really big threat.
And because of that, I think she was in more of a state of, I need to just make
it to the next vote, not how can I set up the alliance to be able to be, you
know, stronger towards the end.
You mentioned that I was scared because I was being seen as a threat, which I
was. I've heard my name come up. But I wasn't really scared, honestly, because
I had a core alliance and I knew that they weren't going to vote me out. And
that's how strong my social game was. And then my strategic moves came in in
that tribe swap. Once Drew and Austin went away, and then from there on, I
played a role in every single moment after that. You mentioned that her
strategic moves happened when there was that tribe swap.
When I was in the tribe swap, that's when we really had to make strategic
moves. I had to go in with Drew, where there was two Reba, two Bello, and one
Lulu. So we were able to not only take one out from Bello, but strengthen Reba
by bringing in Emily.
So then afterwards, I think my biggest move in the game was the Kelly vote, and
that goes back straight to the amulet. I sold this idea that, you know, I just
really want these sandwiches. I knew we were going to get these amulets. So not
only did I upgrade my first idol, but I also upgraded my amulet.
Afterwards, Kendra, I sent you home because all I needed was you and Bruce
to be gone, and then I felt really comfortable that I would make it here on
this spot in the end.
So, yes, you did bring in Emily, but I also brought in Keturah. So this was a
cumulative effort.
And then also Austin mentioned that the Kendra vote, it was his idea.
And I'm so sorry, but the reason was because I kept seeing you go and talk to
Austin and Drew all the time at the beach.
And then Kendra's out here saying that I have a crush on Austin. And then I'm
like, I need this girl out of here because she's bringing in the drama and
I can't have her in my game. And she's trying to take my men away from me and I
need them right now.
So I told them I want Kendra. were out.
I just wanted to clarify that. My ultimate goal was just to make sure I
was always the most insulated player in this game. I was the only person to have
never gotten their name written down. My moves to get us on the numbers was
ultimately what led everything else to happen afterwards.
Flip side.
Of course.
At one point in this game, I said, heart doesn't win survivor.
corrected me she said heart alone doesn't win survivor austin brought up
great points that you've made strategic brain-based decisions but d i need to
hear from you one succinct simple example of a time where you made a
decision using your brain not your heart do you have any of those so my heart and
my brain they're not separate it's the same And that's how I make my moves. I
can't really say that I just played a strategic game and I didn't use my
heart, because I actually think that that's a downfall, being too strategic,
because people want to pull these big moves. I don't care about that. The game
is gonna play itself out. I just need to focus on building my relationships.
And my strategic moves will come from my relationships.
And the biggest strategy that I knew that I would have in this game was just
being authentic.
And I think it showed.
Caleb. Awesome. First of all...
it's been a while you guys congratulations a lot of days so i want
to also congratulate jake for how much fight you had throughout this process
and want to know like what did you did that i couldn't do you know how did you
get so deep into the game as somebody who was so on the outs after my vote
like what was working so obviously i did everything i could to try to keep you in
the game is a failed move but Right after you got voted out, I really tried
to focus on the relationships to the point where people didn't want to vote
me out.
But I really think that kind of undersells the game that you played. You
know, don't sell yourself short. You continued to make and attempt big moves.
Yes. And I think it's something we all really admired.
Was there a method to the madness? Yeah, so like the vote with you, Drew, it was
a situation where I know a lot of attorneys who have been working for 30
plus years and don't speak as well as you do, but I was just really impressed
by you.
I would argue that my big swings didn't always work, but I don't think these two
tried to make a big swing. I think they got comfortable in an alliance of four,
but I was taking cracks every opportunity I had.
That was a good answer. Yeah, I think that's good.
I think I want to go through advantages and idols because we brought the amulet
up. Austin, you made the correct call in taking me out. It was absolutely the
correct move, which is why I was nervous and should have listened to my gut, but
then neither here nor there.
What is the execution of those advantages that you found?
Obviously, it's really cool to make a flashy move with an idol, but I think
it's equally as cool to not even need to use your idol to stay in the game.
I never end up having to use my idol.
Either of them, I guess, you know, I gave it to Julie. I tried flushing that.
To push back on that, though, you did let your number one get voted out while
you had an idol in your pocket that you played on yourself.
I did.
You know, if Drew was sitting next to me, I would have loved that, but... We
would have been splitting votes for sure, you know? It would not have been
the right play, to be honest.
Now that the Drew blindside is coming up, I could have let Austin know.
But I didn't tell him about that because I knew that if I told him, he would try
to save his number one. But his number one is a threat to my game. So I didn't
tell you about Drew. And that was the first time that Austin was left out.
Even though I didn't find idols, I didn't find advantages, knowing all the
information was just as important as having an idol in my pocket. If not even
more important, because look at Bruce. He had an idol.
I did. You did? Well, damn, Bruce, you should have played it. But anyways... I
just want to give Jake an opportunity about idols' advantages in
your game.
Yeah, so I found an idol. I think we all saw it. I don't know.
So I tried to make people think that I would play it on myself.
Obviously, I don't think anyone knew what was going on at the final five
vote. But that was my plan with the idol to make people think that I was going to
be safe that night. And I was hoping to take Katora to the next round. What
essentially happened was I felt I was going to get votes. I got afraid and
said, I don't trust Jake. He's not giving me the heads up. So why play it
on me and not tell me that you were going to play it on me? Yeah, because.
Your genuine reaction of thinking that you weren't safe and you might get votes
is what I wanted. I thought it would make a better impression on the jury.
Julie, how about you?
Congratulations.
Thanks, Julie. My question is for Dee and Austin.
I'm just going to state an obvious that, I don't know, maybe y'all are in a
showmance. What?
What? I would like to know.
Like, are you sure? No, I'm kidding.
I'd like to know.
i'd like to know more about that is it real and how did this influence your
gameplay i'll answer first um for me it was real um obviously
he's an attractive man so i'm gonna look and you know i'm sure a lot of you can
see that but i genuinely liked him as a person and as a player i respected his
moves but yeah it did develop later on which wasn't strategic it just was
natural and then strategic just ended up coming into play yeah I don't know,
something started happening around day 20 or so. It definitely was a real
thing. It wasn't a strategic thing.
We were playing to win this game. I knew voting you out would hurt her. She knew
voting Drew out would hurt me. But we were willing to make those moves because
it was best for our own individual games.
Can I push back on that? Yeah.
Because the time where I was blindsided, we had made the decision previously to
vote out Julie, and the decision was made to not tell Dee.
for exactly the reason that happened, which was Dee told Julie and Julie wrote
my name down. So do you feel like it was a sign of weakness on your part that you
allowed a strong ally to be voted out because you couldn't keep a secret from
somebody who you were clearly close with?
So from what I understand, the reason why Julie found out was not because of
Dee. Dee never told Julie. So I felt really badly that you ended up going
home. But it didn't make a difference for your game. But in the end, I don't
think it made a difference in my game.
And... can i say something austin sat me down on the beach and was like d it's
time like i think we're all thinking of taking julie out how do you feel about
that and i just agreed to it um so you don't know this but i did tell julie
i did tell julie i'm so sorry so sorry but i knew that she had an idol and the
moment that everyone spread out i told julie everyone's coming for you but
you're not going home tonight you're gonna play the idol that we found on
yourself and we're gonna blindside emily and then julie says why don't i just
write austin's name he wanted to write my name down and i told julie i'm like
do not do that julie i'm saving your ass right now don't do that and not only am
i saving you you know you're my number one and you know that austin's my number
one so if you vote out austin my game's done and i'm literally saving your ass
like how are you gonna do that to me julie came here and wrote emily's name
down did not write austin's name down so i also did risk for you going home but i
knew deep down my social game was so good people trusted me when i gave my
word it was my word and i still didn't tell him for the rest of the days that
we were here together we're final three and he didn't know and indeed for what
it's worth i was coming for you next i know it i know it all right
jerry great final tribal
Shuri, I'm going to give you a moment to take in everything you just heard, and
then we will vote. Oh, my God.
All right. There is only one thing left to do. For the
last time in Survivor 45, it is time to vote.
Caleb, you're up.
Great job guys Jay
Austin I am so proud of the way you played this game from start to finish
hearing all of your strategy When they just thought you're a cool surfer dude
kudos to you you played survivor
I guess heart really does win survivor.
But girl, if you spent one penny of this million dollars on that boy, I will
personally fly to Miami and take it from you.
I'll go get the boats.
That's so freaking fantastic.
Well,
when you start a season of Survivor, you have no idea what's going to happen.
Who's going to be out early? Who's going to be there at the end? Which is why, as
a player, you have to fight every moment of every day.
You three did that, and now one of you is going to be crowned the winner of
Survivor 45.
I'll read the votes.
Wow.
First vote.
D.
Austin.
D, two votes D, one vote Austin.
Austin, we're tied.
Two votes D, two votes Austin.
D, that's three votes D, two votes Austin.
Austin, we're tied again.
Three votes D, three votes Austin.
D, that's four votes D, three votes Austin, one vote left.
The winner of Survivor 45, D.
Well, there it is.
We have a winner. Come on over, jury. D.
is the winner of Survivor 45.
Listen to that.
This has been a season that was about relationships and secrets.
We had the first ever successful use of a shot in the dark when Caleb wiped out
11 votes.
There were some vicious and delicious blindsides, including Kelly's, who we're
going to talk about.
Plus, we got to watch Emily transform before our eyes.
austin wasn't even supposed to be on this season and we have another survivor
romance is it the magic of fiji maybe it's astrological we'll talk to kendra
all right we're gonna have the after show survivor 45 we'll be right back i
need some champagne too up next we
have just crowned a winner d congratulations we have the lovebirds in
the middle
austin you didn't find out until the last moment you're playing i am actually
here is your first look at survivor 46.
all right welcome to the survivor 45 after show you are an
excited group
We have just crowned a winner of our 45th season. Dee, congratulations.
Let's go.
Worth noting, closest vote of the new era. One vote shy of a tie.
I wasn't sure how that was going because it was clear that even though all three
of you were making great cases, I could feel that ebbing and flowing.
Kendra, did you come in with an idea and did it shift?
I came in open-minded tonight.
And, you know, I knew that there was going to be kind of like this toss-up
back and forth, and I literally was standing up there saying, I didn't think
it was going to be this hard to make a decision because these guys absolutely,
Jake, too, you all knocked it out of the park tonight. I could feel all of us
shifting back and forth with every single answer from these two all night
long. I went back and forth consistently.
kelly you're nodding yeah i mean that was completely reflective of my
experience i think we all come in with like a slight inclination either way and
for me what i wanted to see in the final tribal was the fire was the fight was
them kind of coming at each other especially in this little mystery
relationship over here so let's just
yeah can i comment like i was like as soon as like that was over i knew i was
out of it but like I was thinking, who am I voting for?
I was like, I think I might end up going. And you started reading the
votes, and I'm like, oh, jeez, I think I'm going.
So, Emily, let's go back to the opening moments on the barge when everybody's
being their friendly self, and you immediately pick a fight and say,
listen, I'm going to say what's on my mind. I'll push back against Bruce a
little bit.
You know, I think it's really in his advantage to come out here and say,
look, I'm just like you. I'm like everyone. But we've all been looking at
him. We recognize his face. He's had the experience leading up to this. He is in
some way more mentally prepared, even if he hasn't physically experienced it than
we are right now.
Was that the beginning of you slowly getting some life lessons from people
who didn't know you then that altered how you played the rest of the game?
A hundred percent. And for the first.
three four 18 days a survivor i continued to put my foot in my mouth and
i'm extremely thankful for the people that were around me during part of this
because When somebody holds a mirror up to you, you can't just close your eyes
and look away and be like, I'm going to ignore that. You have to look, and it
might be hard at points, but you learn a little bit about yourself, and maybe you
can, you know, fix your hair or something in the process.
One of the biggest reactions I've ever seen at Tribal Council happened when
Caleb played his shot in the dark, and it worked.
Caleb, you are safe.
Caleb, what do you remember about that moment?
I don't remember any of it.
I was just sitting here, and then you read all the votes, and it was literally
every single person voted for me.
It's so funny, coming into the game, I was like, I'm the luckiest person I
know.
There was no way that all of this thing that happened to Survivor could hurt me,
and I could not believe everything that worked against me. It felt like the
entire game.
but i tried to have as much fun with it as possible it was cool to make a little
history in the process so i want to dive into something that was talked about a
lot from the jury tonight this season more than any i can remember in a long
time really did center around relationships and secrets within the
relationships we had austin and drew
as a primary relationship and we had julie and d as a primary relationship
and then amazingly we had the lovebirds in the middle as the third relationship
d and austin so austin how did it feel to learn that in a couple of situations
in one d took information and used it and in the other she had information and
didn't give it to you you know i mean i guess girls are better at playing guys
than the other way around i think you know
So Austin, do we need to do any couples therapy right now? There's been a
betrayal.
By the way, Kendra, you're the astrological energy
woman.
What is happening? How did we become the show that's the most successful
relationship dating show? This is Survivor. Jeff, I have been waiting for
you to ask me this question.
This is what I'm here for. I'm pretty sure that this is what I was cast as. Is
there, like, a Survivor astrology lady? Because I want to be her. Then let me
ask the obvious question. Perfect. Could you have predicted this? I did predict
this.
Their signs line up. I 100% predicted this before I even met Dee.
Wait, really?
Like, you said...
Kendra, you're really going to like Dee. You guys are a lot alike. And I said,
subconsciously, in this little, like, Libra Scorpio brain right here, you
know, there's, like, this quiet intensity about him. And I see Dee, who
is, like, this, you know, firecracker. I see this compatibility already from the
beginning. Austin, she saw it, man. I saw it. She saw your quiet intensity.
Just from a show of hands, who all saw it happening?
No, that's me. There's no way.
Yeah, let's bring some champagne in bring in some pizzas especially for our
final three All
right,
so Dee, you seemed to play a really strategic game, driven all
the way, and yet this was okay to happen. Were you concerned about the
risk of people seeing it? Honestly, I wasn't concerned because it wasn't
something that happened right away.
But I think the moment that it kind of, like, flipped was the tribe swap when
him and Drew left. And, like, four days went by and I was like, oh, I wonder
what Austin's doing. Like, honestly,
like, whatever, it's the truth.
Honestly, I actually missed him, and I'm like, why am I missing this guy that I
have known for X amount of days, right? But I didn't come on Survivor to find
anything, you know? I've been single for two years, so I am ready for something.
And I think that it happened because at the point that we were kind of like
getting closer, it was already too late for everybody else.
I could read a lot in this game. I saw that coming.
That's one Jake got right.
Damn.
That's one that I got wrong then. I don't know.
So, Dee, one thing that you talked a lot about out here was your family and the
reason you were out here. You fulfilled that goal. You won a million dollars.
Jeff, I had to win. There was no other option for me because I came on Survivor
to retire my parents and take care of my loved ones. And I was born in Cuba,
immigrated to the U.S. Like, my parents have been through so damn much. I knew
that I was going to take care of them. I knew it. And I knew that I was either
going to be a millionaire myself or marry a millionaire.
Where it's the truth and I'm so freaking grateful that I am the person that
became that you know And I know my parents are gonna be so damn proud
because before I left I wrote them letters.
And in the letter, I told them, I'm leaving. Don't miss me. I'm coming back
as a winner. And I know already that you guys are proud of me. I know that I'm
not doing this for you guys to be proud of me. I'm doing this to take care of
you guys.
And the million dollars is just going to make me more of a giver because that's
who I already am. And I'm proud of that. And I feel like that's why I won this
game. Beautiful story.
Congratulations to Dee and for your family.
all right we'll take a quick break it's a survivor 45 after show be right back
up next you seem like you sort of blacked out apparently i said what the
hell guys i don't remember saying that at all where did these references come
from i spent all my time reading at the library like it's all i do austin you
didn't find out until the last moment you're playing i am actually plus
your first look at survivor 46.
Welcome back to the Survivor 45 After Show. We have a lively group.
You all really got along well, and it was great, but you still had these
great, delicious, vicious blindsides.
Kelly, the night of your blindside, everybody was stunned. I don't think you
remember much. You seem like you sort of blacked out. I did black out, Jeff,
100%. Apparently, I said, what the hell, guys?
I don't remember saying that at all.
Initially, I knew that my name had already been thrown around as a big
threat, which I was like, I am 5'4". I'm a freaking nurse.
Like, are you kidding me, guys? I'm the smallest person on this cast. Why am I
the huge threat?
But I'm honored to have been the first vicious blindside, even though it did
hurt. Bruce, you, too, had a blindside, a little different situation, because
you had the power to save yourself.
So what happened?
I was looking you dead in the face, and I did not know what I wanted to do. I
really did not. So even as I came up and asked if anybody has an advantage or an
item... Even as you came up and asked, I'm looking at you, and I'm like, wait a
minute. So the person that blew me up at the marooning was so convincing to me.
So Emily persuaded you that you were okay. She did.
So, Emily, you persuaded Bruce. You did your job.
you got him to not play the idol was your mistake then in telling people that
was me yes so i i wanted credit for a move that's entirely my own and i was
proud of myself for that and bruce is an incredible sport i did him dirty on the
marooning i lied to his face voted him out celebrated voting him out took
credit for it and then my butt went home next Drew, you were on the end of a
blindside. Were you aware enough to feel it and remember it? I was, Jeff, was the
thing, is that I had waltzed all through camp that day like a king. And I was
humiliated. But almost immediately after, I was grateful, too. Because,
like, to be blindsided is in many ways a badge of honor. It means that you were a
threat. And even though, you know, my Reba family did divorce me, like, I was
so happy with those relationships that it didn't end up mattering. So, Drew, I
got to ask. Yeah.
I loved your analogies and clever quips and your literary references.
I do envision a time when my realm will stretch to the whole beach.
First, a historical reference.
Please. When the philosopher Hegel first met Napoleon.
She's hanging on to greedily like Gollum to the ring.
It's like a Sword of Damocles situation where you don't have the necklace.
I felt like the nerd who accidentally walked into the frat party.
Where did these references come from? Well, the thing is, Jeff, is that, like,
in the real world, not in Survivor World, I spend all my time reading at
the library. Like, it's all I do. And so out here on Survivor, I want to attempt
to, like, be relatable and talk about, like, sports. But at the same time,
there are certain things I can't leave behind.
You know, like my tall height and my bad eyesight and also my love of, like,
literature and history. And so much of Survivor is trying to, like, fit in. But
those quirks that don't fit in a lot of times can add to the group, too.
Absolutely. Cheers to that. We love Drew. Here's to Drew!
Austin,
we've only had a few alternates that end up on the show, but the way Survivor
works, we typically bring a couple of people out just in case something
happens. It rarely does, but Tina in Survivor Australia was an alternate,
went on to win the game.
Davey in David vs. Goliath, an alternate, didn't win, but did very
well, was very popular with people.
You didn't find out until the last moment that you were going to be on the
show. You're in the game.
And... Wait, what?
You're playing. I am? Mm-hmm.
Actually? Mm-hmm. Yep, you're being put in.
Are you serious right now? Mm-hmm. Oh, my... I don't even know how to process
this right now. Oh, my God! I was... Oh, my God.
I, like, seriously don't even... Like, I need to just... That night, like, I
couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep, and then it's like I have 72 hours to mentally
prepare myself, but...
i think it was almost better for me because it didn't let me get too much
into my head like oh my gosh you know i might go out first i might go out second
like you play a little bit scared but when i got out there like that wasn't
really a thought i was like i'm just playing i gotta go aggressive it's all
borrowed time i'm playing on house money and like every time that there was an
opportunity to do anything like eat a fish eye or whatever i was like you know
i would never have had this opportunity so i'm gonna take that and i'm gonna
enjoy the most of this all right we're gonna take another break we're gonna
have a little more survivor 45 after show right after
Up next, it was fun to have the auction back. Was it fun to be a part of it?
Yeah.
Emily dancing Austin with the giant fish eye, Katsura.
You confronted and conquered so many fears. I know what you're thinking
about. I'm dropping.
Well, you got it, kids. Let's go. Plus, your first look at Survivor 46.
Welcome back to the Survivor 45 After Show, where Dee has just won a million
dollars.
So, Julie, you were very open, even during casting, that you're in a second
phase of your life. Why was Survivor important in this part of your journey?
So, Survivor was extremely important. Now, everything that I've told this cast
has been...
absolutely the truth. I'm 49, muralist, artist, my kids.
What I didn't say is that at the age of 40, when I found myself a single mom, I
went to law school.
Oh, another one. What?
So I've been an attorney for the last four and a half years.
So I was doing everything that I was telling y'all in addition to going to
Knight Law School. That was 2015, Second Chance, Cambodia.
And I'm in my second chance of life. And I just went, I'm going to be on
Survivors. Wow.
All right, I want to just talk in general about the auction. It was fun to
have the auction back. Was it fun to be a part of it?
It was amazing.
110%. We had Emily in the sand dancing.
Austin, I was very impressed with the giant fish eyes.
We also had a $900 milkshake.
I thought there was a more likely chance that I got hit by a media than I would
ever have a chance of doing the Survivor auction.
And the fact that I got to do, like, the cake thing with the hands, with the
timer. Like, I remember Ceri in Micronesia back in, like, 2008 doing it.
And I got to be the dude to go do that. Like, that's awesome, man. Like, I,
like... I'm like, it was amazing.
Jake, you saw from the jury tonight, you got a lot of respect from everybody
saying, dude, you hung in there every single day.
So is there anything that you're going to take away from this experience that
will influence how you deal with the young people that you deal with in your
life as a prosecutor?
Yeah, no, I'm not a public defender. I'm a prosecutor. I do work...
Wait a minute. You didn't tell the truth either? No, no, no, no. So I said I was
a public defendant. All the lawyers lied.
I told the most truths, though, out of these lawyers.
Jake, I got to say, I think people are going to really have a great take on you
when this is all said and done because you are absolutely authentic.
Oh, my God. I love you. Thank you. Oh, my God.
Keturah, as much as anyone this season... Oh, no, Jeff.
I want to focus on you from this standpoint. What I saw was a woman who
confronted and conquered so many fears. I know what you're thinking about. I
think you're thinking about when I had a panic attack at a challenge.
I honestly, I think back to that day, and I don't know what happened.
I think I like to. Okay, you do you. Go ahead and do it. Slide down and get
right over here. Take care of yourself.
Let go and start swimming.
Drop and start swimming toward me immediately.
Ready? Come on, you got it, kid. Just go. Just go.
I don't know why. I'm so sorry, guys. I'm so sorry. No sorries, Keturah.
Come over here. Emily, you want to give her a hand?
Oh, my God.
I had practice. I had practiced for this. I had planned for this. I had
trained for this. And guess what? Turns out you're human, and you can't plan
everything out, and you can't make everything as logical as you always do,
which is what I do for everything in life. But it feels so refreshing to know
that I can have those moments of absolute weakness, uncertainty, have no
idea where it comes from, and, like, damn, I pushed through. Yes.
We're going to have to wrap up 45, but Drew, coming to you.
But here's my question.
What's your best literary reference for why somebody would apply to be on
Survivor and come have this experience that you all just had?
Well, Jeff, there's a genre of literature called the Bildungsroman. It
comes from Germany, and it's a story of young people.
who grow and who find themselves and all of us out here are 20 you know some of
us are 40 but we're all in this kind of middle threshold stage of our lives and
i think if you want some kind of transcendental experience that could
show you who you really are then look no further than Survivor. I urge you, put
out an application.
All of us did it. It was a Hail Mary for everybody.
And six months later, a year later, some of us are a million dollars richer, but
all of us had such a wonderful adventure. And that is why you were on
Survivor, Drew.
Well done.
When we come back, your first look at Survivor 46.
Drew, well done. Well done. I put you on the spot.
it takes a lot to commit to doing something insane like this
welcome
back to the Survivor 45
After Show. I want to raise a glass to all of you, as well as all the players
from this season who aren't here with us tonight, who didn't make the jury.
It's always fun to watch a new group of players come out, test themselves, see
what they're made of, sometimes transform or change their lives. It's
always bittersweet to say goodbye.
So here's to you, the cast of Survivor 45.
Cheers.
And as bittersweet as it is...
For 23 years, we've been lucky enough to be able to say, as one season comes to
an end, another begins. Here is your first look at Survivor 46.
A new tribe is
forming.
Since I got the first call, I was so excited.
I know tens of thousands of people applied.
And I always said, I'm going to be on that show one day. I'm going to do it.
Oh, there we are.
What's happening, baby?
Good morning.
What's up?
Yay.
Pick me for this show. I'm perfect for this game. I want this so bad.
I can outwit anybody.
I got a four-year-old. As I always say, stay positive, test negative. See y'all
soon.
thousands apply but only 18 are chosen to be abandoned in fiji for the
adventure of a lifetime it takes a lot to commit to doing something insane like
this so i'm ready to manifest the shred i'm going to be the very first persian
winner of survivor because honey it is long overdue in real life people think
i'm a nut but out here i'm about to kill it
what it takes to outwit, outplay, and outlast all the rest.
I thought about it. I was like, I should apply.
I could do this. And now I'm here doing it. I'm doing it.
We're doing it!
Survivor 46 this February.
All right, that is it. If you want to bid on props from this season of
players, you can do so. And if you want to be on Survivor, I mean, if Drew
didn't get yet to want to be on Survivor, then you probably don't want
to be on Survivor. All right, that is it. We will see you in the spring for
Survivor 46.
Let's go sign this, baby. Come on, y'all.
Dee, you're up first.
I should have worked on my dance signature.
Who needs champagne?
All right, everybody sign. Let's go.
Dee,
call it. That's a wrap for Survivor 45. You call it.
