My name is Patrick.
I'm a photojournalist and filmmaker.
One day, while scouting a location I thought would be cool for a shoot, I saw
something.
Thank you.
What I saw that day haunted me for months, but it also prompted me to
seek out others who might have seen or experienced what I did.
I found four individuals.
These are their stories.
Hello, my name is Simone Torres.
I'm a bank manager and I've lived in Alabama all my adult life.
I went to Jasper High School in Jasper, Alabama.
After graduating high school, I attended Lawson State Community College where I
majored in business.
I am single with no kids.
I've never really believed in the supernatural, anything like spirits or
ghosts.
I grew up in a God-fearing household, and I always went to church, so I always
had a pretty positive outlook on what happened in the afterlife, or at least
what comes after this life.
That all changed on June the 23rd.
It was a typical Southern day.
I was laying on the couch, you know, being lazy.
The TV was on, but it really was just watching me.
I was kind of zoning in and out.
My mom and dad had gone to Birmingham to go shopping, and I didn't really want to
go, so I decided to just stay home.
So I was laying on the couch, and I remember I had a blanket over me.
It wasn't really cold outside, but we like to keep the thermostat pretty cool
in the summer.
But what happened was the blanket I had pulled over halfway over my body just
slid off of me.
Not like a jerk or anything, but it slid off methodically.
Kind of like a boyfriend would do, you know, if he was getting kind of close to
you, trying to get next to you.
I remember instinctively pulling it back up over me.
And a few minutes later, it slid right back off of me.
This time it got my attention.
thinking someone was playing a joke on me but who my mom and dad had gone and
even if they were there they're not the type of people that will play jokes like
that so i got up and i head to the door that led outside
and i looked out and i didn't see anyone so i walked back into the living room
and when i got to the couch the pillows they looked a little different than
what i had left not radically different just a little different and i was
thinking it was me so i just laid back down and i started to drift back to
sleep
And I heard what sounded like a cabinet door open and shut.
And I remember it was very loud.
And I kept thinking, this has to be a joke.
And I jumped up and I ran into the kitchen fully prepared to curse somebody
out.
But when I got in there, no one was in the kitchen.
But all of the cabinets were open.
And all of the glasses were lined up on the cabinet.
And there was water inside of it, but it was as if someone had filled it up at
different levels.
But as I got closer, there was one glass, just one.
And the water was red.
This totally freaked me out.
So I went to pour the water out. But at this point, I couldn't even touch the
glasses. I was totally freaked out.
I just remember going back to get my phone so I can call my mom and dad.
to see when they would be back i talked to them and they reassured me that
everything was fine and that was probably just a dream so i hung
up the phone with them and at that point i just agreed with them i just walked
back into the living room and then i went back into the kitchen and i was a
little apprehensive
everything was back to normal.
Nothing was out of place.
I mean, what do you do at this point? I mean, I thought I was going crazy.
I'm not on any medications or anything, but I couldn't figure out why I would be
having these hallucinations.
And then I remembered I had took an aspirin and I took it for a headache.
And so at that point, my mind was trying to find any reason to make sense of what
was happening to me.
But even though common sense would tell you aspirins are not the type of drug to
cause hallucination.
But at that point, I was just trying to rationalize and make sense of it.
So I decided that it was just all in my head.
But at that point, I was certainly not going back to sleep.
So I went back to the couch and I started watching TV.
I had talked to my parents and they were on their way home. Yep.
And slowly things just kind of went back to normal.
All of the lights went out.
At least that's what it looked like at first.
But in reality, it was just the lights and the TV in that room.
And then.
Just barely audible.
Just one.
Then one more.
It was about maybe 30 seconds between each step.
But I knew something was walking toward me.
It was moving really slow.
Methodically.
But I had a burst of energy and I thought about the knives and the
kitchen.
And I jumped up, and I ran to the kitchen, and I found the drawer.
And I reached into the drawer, and I pulled out the biggest knife that I
could find.
And to think about it, I should have ran outside, but I was overwhelmed to run
back into the living room.
That was a big mistake.
As soon as I stepped out of the kitchen, that's where I saw it. It came at me.
Faster than anything I had ever seen.
I didn't even have time to scream.
The next thing I remember was waking up on the couch.
I heard my phone ringing and I answered it and it was my mom. And she was
telling me that she had called me multiple times with no answer.
But they was calling me because they was stopping to get food.
And they wanted to know if I wanted anything.
So I just thought maybe it was just a dream.
So I got up and I wanted a glass of water.
And that's when I realized that it wasn't a dream.
When I walked toward the kitchen and I looked down, there it was.
There was a large knife, and it was glass of water, and the water was red.
So, if we gave you a sketch pad, could you, to the best of your ability,
draw what you saw?
Absolutely.
Hello, my name is Kim Weaver.
I am a 26-year-old middle school teacher, and I live in Georgia.
My first encounter with the entity,
that's what I like to call it. My first encounter was almost a year ago to this
day.
It wasn't the only encounter, but it was the most intense.
And I was alone at the time.
My husband and my son were visiting my husband's mom in Columbus and I decided
to stay home and catch up on grading papers.
It had gotten dark, it was about 8 p.m., and I decided to head upstairs to the
bedroom.
I took a shower, brushed my teeth, put on my night clothes, all the usual
things.
And then I remember I had called my husband and my son, and then I spoke to
them for a while.
Then after that, I started winding down.
I always like to read something before I go to bed, so I picked a book I had been
reading that was sitting nearby, and I just, you know, I sat back,
relaxed, and started reading.
Maybe 20 minutes later, I heard the sound of water running in
the bathroom.
And I'm thinking like, did I, did I leave that on?
Okay. So I get up, I go check and sure enough, the water in the sink was
running.
I turn it off. I go back to bed.
I didn't give it a second thought.
It couldn't have been more than what, like five minutes later when I heard the
sound of water running again.
And look, I'm not the type to be easily scared, so I think I was just more
annoyed than afraid.
So the thing that's running in my mind is like, did I somehow forget to
turn that off?
I walk back into the bathroom.
I turn off the sink. I turn it tight.
I look at it for a few seconds.
to make sure it was not going to turn back on while I was watching.
Once I was absolutely certain it was off and it was staying off,
I got back in bed.
After that, I just decided to call it a night.
So... I had started drifting and I think
I was asleep.
With that said, I have always been a light sleeper.
Any sound, any movement and I'll wake right up.
So I was sleeping when I felt this rush.
of cold air.
I know it's common for people to say they felt a cold chill or cold
air or like the room got colder but maybe the reason why so many people say
it is because it's true.
pulled the covers up tighter to get warm.
The feeling when you know you're alone but
you can't shake the sense that someone else is
in the room with you.
That feeling is just, it's overwhelming.
So I sat up and I looked around.
I didn't see anything.
So, of course, I went back to bed.
I got even somewhat comfortable, but I didn't close my eyes.
I just waited.
Nothing happened.
Literally, the second I closed my eyes,
I heard a rush of water coming from the bathroom louder than I had ever heard
it.
Now, now I'm frightened.
Probably more than I had ever been in my entire
life. But somehow, somehow I have the nerve to get up and
go check to see what was going on.
Those steps.
to the bathroom were the most agonizing
steps I have ever taken.
I pushed open the door and I looked inside.
The room, it looked normal at first glance.
But the shower was on full blast and it must have all been hot water because the
steam started to fill the room.
Thinking back, I wonder how I didn't notice
from the beginning, but not only was the shower on, there was something in it.
I... Walk slowly towards it.
I was terrified.
But I couldn't go back to bed without knowing what was in my shower.
In hindsight, I probably should have just left the house.
It would have been smarter to grab my keys and just go to a hotel. It would
have been smarter to just drive.
to where my husband and my son were.
I know it sounds crazy, but that's what I wish I had done.
Because what I saw, it changed me
for life.
I walk slowly to the shower and What I saw,
it defies all description.
It was nothing like anything I had ever seen in any TV show, any
book I had ever read, any movie, the craziest movie I had ever seen.
The only way it can be
remotely described is just ungodly.
The way it looked at me was as if
it was looking at something that was totally at its mercy.
Something that was only alive because it wanted it to be.
Like my existence somehow served it.
I was frozen in fear, paralyzed,
and somehow in all of that, I
got the strength to turn around and run.
But as soon as I did, the door slammed shut and the light shut out.
I woke up the next day in my bed.
My alarm clock woke me up.
6.45, like always.
So it was just a dream.
At least that's how I felt.
Just some dream.
So I sat up.
I reached for my phone.
I needed to check on my husband and my son. Of course, I had 22 missed calls.
and 21 voice messages.
I am completely confused because I didn't hear my phone ring
at all that entire night.
So I'm listening to these voice messages and as
I'm hearing them a story starts to unfold.
There were two messages that stuck out to me more than the others
The first one was my husband
That, that really freaked me out.
Because our TV wasn't even on.
Even when it is on, it's on the Weather Channel.
And some movie station is never even playing.
So, what was that he heard?
My phone didn't even show that I had called him.
Not once, not by accident, not on purpose, nothing.
The second message was so much worse.
There weren't even any words.
Just sounds.
None that a person would ever understand.
Sounds that no one on this earth could comprehend.
That wasn't even the worst part.
There were pictures on my phone.
Pictures I know I didn't take because they were pictures of me sleeping.
If we gave you a pencil and a sketch pad, could you, to the best of your
ability, draw what you saw that night?
Yes.
Yes, I can draw it.
Hello, my name is Marcus Warner.
And I'm 30 years old, and I'm an entrepreneur.
As far as I know, guys don't have paranormal experiences.
At least none that they talk about.
Definitely not to their homeboys.
I mean, it's not...
Let's just say a person can lose a lot of friends if you know talking about
something like that But I think it's time that I come clean and discuss
what happened to me I know a lot of my friends and family won't believe what
I'm about to say I believe in two things above
all else meditation and prayer
I believe with regular meditation, with regular prayer, it's quintessential to a
person's mental health, and I do my best to adhere to that.
My encounter took place one quiet Saturday.
I have a special room in my house that I use for deep meditation.
I replaced all the standard bulbs with red and blue bulbs because I feel those
colors best match my aura.
My roommate was gone, which is how I like it, because I prefer either a low,
consistent sound like rainfall or ocean waves, or either complete silence.
I remember taking a few minutes to get everything ready. I checked the doors,
make sure they were locked.
I closed the curtains. I found a soft pillow to sit on.
And I remember on this occasion,
playing the sound of a snowstorm from my cell phone into a Bluetooth speaker.
It was very serene, peaceful.
Anyone who meditates knows it usually takes a few minutes, even if you've been
doing it for a while, to fully get into it.
It's like your mind eventually finds a way to slip away from the body and then
you kind of phase everything out around you.
Now, I've meditated in this room at least 50 times before and never had a
problem. But on this particular day, I felt something was off from the
moment I sat down and closed my eyes.
It was like I just couldn't get.
my mind to relax.
It felt like I wasn't home alone.
I got up a few times and went to the door and called for my roommate to see
if he was home and nobody else was there.
It was a really uncomfortable feeling.
You know, sometimes you have to convince yourself that what's happening isn't
real. Well, this was one of those times.
I wish I had listened to my first instinct, which told me to run or at
least get out of the house.
But I stayed.
So I double-checked the doors, made sure that they were locked.
And I sat back down and tried to get back into that mental state of
relaxation that you need for deep meditation.
When your eyes are closed, you still can perceive light.
And I could pick up that something was happening to one of the lights.
And there was.
The light wasn't necessarily flickering. It was more or less dimming and
brightening on its own.
Not the weirdest thing that could happen, I agree, but still kind of
freaky.
So I got up, found out which bulb it was, thumped it a few times.
It started working.
Went and sat back down.
I closed my eyes again, and I started doing deep, long
breaths.
In through the nose.
Out through the mouth.
I waited a few seconds.
Nothing happened.
So I started again.
In through the nose.
Out through the mouth.
After a few minutes of this, I felt a chill.
So I opened my eyes.
And there was a singular lamp placed right in front of me.
Now I'm terrified.
I have one goal, to get up and get out of the room as quickly as I could.
But as soon as I stood up, the lights went out. Pitch black. I can't see
anything.
By memory, I know where the door is, so I started moving towards it.
As I get closer, the darkness is cut by the glow of a red light.
I turn around, the light goes out quicker than I can turn around.
It's back to pitch black now.
I can feel a presence in the room.
Someone or something was in there with me.
The lights came back on.
I made a mad dash to the door as quickly as I could.
I didn't know if it was going to go dark again or if the lights would ever come
on again.
I reached for the doorknob and I opened it.
Pulled the door open and there it was.
Looking at me with those eyes and a face I could hardly describe.
I fell back hard.
I must have hit my head because everything went black.
All I remember is waking up on the floor.
I got up and I left.
I've never gone back.
I'll never go back.
So, if we gave you a sketch pad and a pencil, could you, to the best of your
ability, draw what it was you saw?
Yes. Yes, I could.
Hi.
My name is Sandy Wilburn.
And I am 27 years old.
And I run my very own wedding, which is obviously in Grantsville, South
Carolina.
I am single with no children.
I grew up in a Christian household.
And the only spirits we ever talked about was the Holy Spirit.
Demons, the supernatural, ghosts, was only mentioned in...
conversation about hell and damnation.
My dad used to say, if you lived long enough,
you would have seen almost anything.
It was a typical summer day.
I just left the meeting with the wedding planner.
We met in a hotel where we went to go view a room for a reception at a
wedding we both were working.
I popped across the street from the hotel in a parking garage.
You know, come to think about it, I really thought to myself that it was
pretty empty for a downtown area, you know?
But it was a weekday, so I just assumed it wasn't that busy downtown.
Well, the coordinator went to go speak with the manager to discuss some things
we needed for the wedding.
And I headed to my car.
I needed to finish some paperwork, and then I was going to hit the road
because, you know, it's about a 30-minute drive, so...
And I knew that once I get home, I was going to be way too tired to do anything
but sleep.
So I walked across the street to head to my car.
And, you know, this may sound cliche, but I felt like
someone was watching me.
So the parking garage had two levels, and I parked on the second level.
I had to use the staircase to get to the second level because the elevator was
out.
Now, walking through the parking garage and not seeing any cars during the day
is no big deal.
But walking through the parking garage at night is.
I felt like I wasn't alone.
I mean, the fear that I had, it was like, it wasn't the type of fear that
somebody was going to rob you or assault you type of fear. It wasn't a fear of
physical harm type fear.
It was like something was happening to my soul.
I mean, if that made sense.
I mean, I was hesitating. I was stopping. I was looking over my
shoulder. 15 minutes had gone by, and I still haven't made it to my car.
Now, after reassuring myself over and over and over, I finally made it to the
second level, but not without checking every corner and crevice I encountered.
Now, on the second level,
I noticed two things immediately.
First, my car was parked further than I remember and I was at
the back of the garage.
Second, there was a person sitting on a bench near my car.
Now, a person sitting on a bench is no big deal, right?
But until you factor in it's night and no one's around, it kind of is.
Now I say person, for real, I really don't know what I saw.
I saw a head and a body and I just figured it was human.
But I was wrong.
So I went in my purse and I called the coordinator.
She didn't pick up. I didn't know who else to call.
But I knew I wasn't going to go to the car, not by myself.
So I went back to the hotel to see if I could find anybody.
I ran across a man who said he agreed to walk me to my car only if I allowed him
to take me out on the date. At this point, I wouldn't have agreed to
anything.
So as we were walking across the street and we were going up the stairs, I was
telling him about the thing that I saw and the eerie feeling that I was having.
And he assured me that it was nothing.
I believed him. I felt sick with him.
It was okay.
But I still had that eerie feeling.
I just needed to get to my car.
and drive away from all this depressive energy but
you know we were walking and we and i you know we were talking about different
things i i really thought to myself he's a really good guy i mean but
but that changed drastically
So he volunteered to go see what it was.
And look, I don't know what he saw, but he turned around and started walking
towards me really fast.
He pushed past me so fast and ran straight to the hotel.
But I knew I had to go to my car.
So.
Gather my nerves.
And I started walking.
I was so scared.
i mean i felt someone or
something just watching me
as
i got to my car and i was about to go in i turned around and was there
i couldn't move or scream it
was just Inches from my face. I just stood there. I didn't know what to
do And then it was just gone just disappeared
All I remember doing was just crying
So, if we gave you a sketch pad, could you, to the best of your ability, draw
what you saw?
Yes.
As a trained artist, it's easy for me to convey what I witnessed.
I can visualize it.
and even draw it in other environments.
What about the four people we interviewed?
What did they see?
Okay.
Thank you.
Thank you.
This is what I saw.
Um... Thank you.
At the start of this journey, I was optimistic.
Even a little giddy.
I knew there were others who'd witnessed what I had and were eager to tell a
compelling story.
But after these interviews and the drawings, fuck it.
