I don't think I've been this excited
about a skate release in forever. I was
like a kid at Christmas opening these
yesterday. This is the Flying Eagle
Heron SF60 and SF60 Pro skate. It's the
first go, proper go that Flying Eagle
have had at an aggressive skate. They
made one before. It was a bit rubbish,
but I don't think they were trying. So,
this is them making all new parts and
having a really good go at it. And
spoiler alert, I think these are really,
really special. So, I'm going to go
skating on these a little bit later on.
We'll report back later in the video
about how that went. But, let's just go
over the spec of the skates. There's a
lot to say about these. So, two models.
What are the differences between them?
Well, this is the lower end model. I
really like the white and the black one.
Actually, I I think I prefer it. I like
the the contrast. I like the lines on
it. The way you can see the lines
better. That is going to be £200 UK. And
this one here is about £280
UK to be confirmed. And the main
differences are this. Well, the main
difference is the liner. So the lowerend
one comes with a stock Flying Eagle
liner and the higherend one is not in
there. It comes with this
suspiciously intuition looking liner,
but it's not exact copy. We'll talk
about that more later, but yeah, they're
obviously trying to go for a low volume,
high density premium liner, a little
like an intuition. And then the other re
the other differences between them is
the lower end one doesn't have a
replaceable cuff bolt, whereas the
higherend one does. I don't really know
why you'd want to replace the cuff on
these. And then the higherend one has
waxed laces and that one doesn't. I've
just put these yellow laces in. They
don't actually come with yellow laces on
this one. They just come with black
laces. And yeah, there's a Oh, the
buckle is plastic on this one. You can't
really notice to be honest. You got to
look really hard. This one's got a metal
buckle on it.
Hard to tell really. And then the only
other thing I think is the higherend
one. It's got like this little orange
wedge in that kind of insert that you
you put in the bottom of the skate
to give it a little bit extra shock
absorption. That said, there is a shock
absorber. There's another shock absorber
kind of a squidgy gel like one in both
of them. So, we'll we'll look at that
later. So, not that much difference
aside from liner. Um, but not that much
difference in price actually. It's only
£80 more. So, let's go over the spec of
the boot. And let's start with the kind
of headliner, which is this soul frame.
That's why it's called the SF60,
soulframe 60. And I really buy into the
soul frame thing. In fact, I buy into it
so much that that's what we were
supposed to have when we made the loco
boot aggressive, which has been put on a
shelf for the time being because it
makes no financial sense to do. However,
Flying Eagle have kind of I almost feel
like they've taken taken the the reigns
and then just and they have got the
financial
um ability to do it because they own
their own factory, but also we worked
with Kenneth Doo on the design of that
frame just before he went to work for
Flying Eagle and created this frame. So,
it's come kind of from the same place.
And yeah, this is kind of exactly how I
would have wanted it to be to be honest.
It's got a raised heel in there, but
also a sole frame. And the one thing I
really wanted with our sole frame was
this perfect proportion thing where the
the side of the frame there hits the
ground at the same time as the sole
plate with the wheel being just a
millimeter off the ground. So, it makes
it perfect for cess slides. And I'm
surprised no one's done this before. It
was something I was really keen on
having. And I'm so glad that somebody's
done it where we couldn't. And um yeah,
I just can't wait to do some say slides
on them. I think that would be really
good for grinds as well. Obviously, it
protects the wheels better from grinds
on ledges like that as well.
So
really really excited and maybe a little
biased towards this skate because I feel
like in a roundabout way had some kind
of input I suppose
um or maybe like a subconscious
influence. The sole plate is really wide
40 mm on this size. This is a size 40 to
41 and that's about as big as a sole
plate gets on that size of skate. The
negative plate's really big as well if
you like your negatives. And I did just
notice as well that the sole plate is is
angled this way a little bit. So that'll
make it faster on soul tricks. And it
just wears down a bit better. There's
just more material to wear into and just
wears in nicer when it's angled like
that. Lasts a bit longer as well from
wearing down. And just to explain to all
the people, well, like the two people
watching who don't know this already
because we keep talking about this on
the channel. So, sorry to everyone else
who has to keep listening to me saying
this. The benefit of having a solo skate
is because you don't have to put bolts
in here and you can move the wheels
further out. And having wider wheels in
the middle is better for grinding of
course. So just like the USD AON, this
is doing the same thing, but the
difference is that this is just a sole
and frame one piece part on the on the
base of the boot, whereas the USD AON 60
is a an entire one piece boot. And
disadvantage of that is they have to
make the boot have the same plastic as
the frame. And you want the boot to be
softer because you want it to be a bit
more flexy and you want the frame and
the sole to be harder because you want
it to grind fast. So this um finally
well Teneck have done it as well um but
the Tenic one isn't as wide split as
this. This is the first person to
successfully do a really wide split soul
frame I think. And I'm I'm here for it
completely. I love it. I can't I can't
find anything wrong with this. I'm
completely invested in this. As you can
see the frame really nice proportions. I
don't know how they could have made that
frame any better. Not Oh yeah. Notice
the um the straight edges. This is a nod
to old school skates
um having these kind of straight bits
instead of the usual angled frames
you're used to seeing. That's just
because on normal removable frames you
want them to be symmetrical. So you can
flip them over and to make them last
twice as long. With a soul frame you're
not ever flipping it over. So you can
you have a luxury of kind of making a
slightly different design and they
wanted to have something a bit old
school looking like an old 50/50 frame.
So, I think that's quite cool. I think
some of the guys here thought it looked
a bit old school and budget, but I think
it's just getting used to used to that
look when you're not used to it. I like
it. We'll find out about Royale in a
little bit when I go skating cuz that's
if you know me on the channel, you know
I'm big on like how a Royale will feel
on a skate and that'll be a make it or
break it kind of thing for me. Let's
move on to the boot. So, the boot, love
the silhouette. Love the lines here.
It's not just an aesthetic thing, these
lines. The plastic goes from thick to
less thick to thin like this. And that's
so that the laces, the top of the boot
with the laces can be pulled down right
over your foot. That plastic is really
thin on top. So you can really tighten
it over your over your foot. And h yeah,
it gets gradually thick as it goes down.
So nice and solid on the bottom of the
skate. Really like that. They're not the
first people to do that. I'm sure I'm
sure them skates have something similar.
But yeah, that that is the best way to
make a hard boot skate in my opinion.
And the plastic, it's TPU plastic. I'm
sure it is. I can feel it's like really
elastic. Really good quality, really
high quality plastic.
And then you've got the liner.
So, shall we talk about the liner?
We've got the stock liners here
on this one.
Now, I've put this on already.
And immediately I was just like, "Oh my
days, this is the most comfortable skate
I've put on in a in a really long time.
They just perfectly fit me." Obviously
that is unique to the individual. Like
everyone's got a different foot shape,
but for me, whatever they've done with
this this shape and this size, 40 to 41
fits me perfectly. fits about the same
as a themkate size small shell or a 40
to 41 in a Mesma Eclipse or Icon or
something like that.
Maybe like slightly larger than a UK 6
in like a Razers SL by a couple of
millimeters, something like that. Um,
yeah, this is the stock liner and I love
it. I think it's an amazing stock liner.
It was so comfortable.
um just just as soon as I put my foot in
it, I felt just very at home like almost
couldn't believe how how good it felt.
The insole is like that. Oh yeah, that's
one of the other differences. The insole
on the non pro version is just like a
foam insole like that. And the Pro
version is like an orthotic style
insole. So it's like the one that like
um supports the arch of your foot a bit
more. Not much else to see on the liner,
but
high quality, looks good. And then the
higherend liner for the SF60 Pro is this
um kind of thing which is a nod to
intuition liners. I'm not entirely sure
how I feel about this kind of imitation
of intuition liners that companies kind
of keep doing, but I was having a proper
think about it. And because intuition
has become such a it's such a category
of its own when it comes to liners like
you either have like it seems to me that
there's intuition liners and there's
other liners and intuition being this
kind of low volume high density foam.
They've got a patent on their foam of
course. So everyone else who's trying to
make a liner like to replicate that or
be like that has to like communicate to
their customer base that this is that
category of liner. And the way that
Flying Eagle have done it is I mean I
guess these holes on the liner kind of
emulate the intuition liner and the
eyelets look very similar but also this
gold color. We know intuition uses a
gold colors as kind of part of their
detailing on their branding. So clearly
they're saying like look this is like an
intuition liner. Get in the comments
like what do you think about companies?
Do you think that's that's okay to like
just kind of signal
that's what we're trying to do? We're
trying to make that category of liner or
do you think it's like they're they're
doing a bootleg and they should just
kind of be a bit more unique in their
branding. The problem is if they're more
unique with it, then it makes it really
hard for the customer to know that that
that is a really high-end premium liner.
That's kind of a shorefire way of
letting the customer know is by doing
this kind of color way to make it look
like a an intuition liner, but I don't
know. What do you guys think? I don't I
guess that's a point of discussion.
Either way, that liner, it does have
this uh it's not is not quite the same
as an intuition liner. I guess it feels
a little thicker around the edges. The
tongue isn't quite as shaped, but it
does feel really high quality. high
density, low volume, and like a really
precise liner. It's exactly what you'd
expect. It It will perform in a similar
way to an intuition liner where it's
just like it's so dense, the foam. And
trying these on side by side with the
stock liners, I could feel that this was
a more premium line. It was supporting
me more. It made the skate feel a little
stiffer
or at least a little like when you're
flexing over the skate, supported all
the way, if you know what I mean.
There's no bend point. It just felt like
the whole thing was coming with you.
Whereas the lower density foam maybe
felt like there was more of a like a
flex point in there, which you might
like. You might think that that's um
something you prefer if you like flexi
skates. So, you make that decision. I
actually did decide in the end after
standing at my desk all day that I think
I do like possibly the stock liner
better. It's just a little bit more
forgiving on my ankle. And weirdly, I
felt like it offered me a little bit
more width. Um yeah, it definitely did.
like when I was stood in the the
intuition liner that on my left foot I
felt a little like narrow towards the
front of the foot whereas that one I
didn't feel it when I when I put that in
the same foot. So
um definitely works to be a more premium
liner. Um but if you don't need to spend
the extra £80 like I really just think
this like stock liner is really really
incredible and it feels so comfortable.
So yeah, I think each person is going to
have their own opinion on that. And then
let's look at the shock absorber.
Yeah. So there you go. That does that is
the um lower end kind of little cover
thing that goes in the the kind of the
cheaper skate. So it doesn't have the
orange bit on it like the pro version of
the skate does. And then
yeah, a little shock absorber like this.
This is actually that orange color on
the other one. There you go. Like a
little orange color just to go with the
brand in there. Uh same same shock
absorber on the Pro model as on the the
basic model. I did actually find when I
put both on side by side, I preferred
again I preferred the basic model not
having
that extra orange bit on the back. I
felt like the heel raise was then too
high with that little extra orange bit.
And I did find it really noticeable
actually weirdly cuz that's only
probably
8 mm or something like that. But it
definitely could feel it in there. And
because this has got a ra it's got a
raised heel already underneath. If you
were to take that soul frame off, you'd
see it's got a raised heel. Quick
intermission. So, this is the sole frame
without the boot on. There you go.
Raised heel at the back and then the
second wheel really close into the foot
there. And they feel very substantial
and very weighty. And you'll notice that
there's no dampener piece of material
over the top of this between the boot
and the soul frame. So, you could always
add your own later if you felt the need
to. Then the hardware in here. Um, yeah,
really solid. It's got that bridge
hardware that everyone's using now. So,
it looks like it'll be really easy to
take that song frame on and off. And
then, um, sizing. Yeah, I skating I'm
skating the size 40 to 41.
And,
um, like I said, it fits fits me
perfectly. I'm usually a size 41. I'll
put the size charts up on the screen.
They're slightly different size charts
between the normal white version and the
Pro version.
because of the different liner that goes
in them. Just read the size chart, but
they're saying that there's an extra
half a size kind of available in the
more premium liner. Um, I don't think
that's necessarily true. I I put them on
side by side and they both felt about
the same size to me. So, just keep that
in mind. And I think like that's all I'm
going to say about the spec for the time
being. I'm going to go and have a little
skate on them and then report back.
Can you film my first Royale, please?
Oh no.
Okay,
second Royale.
It needs a little bit of braking on the
curb.
Yeah, it looks a bit shallow.
Yeah, it was shallow. Yeah.
Oh, it feels good. But, um, they're
definitely really hard. The soul frames,
the plastic's really hard. So, it means
they're really fast. Like, especially on
soul tricks. Um, but on a rough edge
like that, you also feel a lot of
vibration through it. So, let's go to an
actual skate park and skate them. Good
morning. I'm wearing my uh flying eagle
gear.
So, I I slammed the skate on a curb for
like half an hour yesterday and
absolutely grooved the out of it.
So, um, hopefully we'll get some whales
done. Quick spin around the skatepark.
See how they roll.
Okay. So, yeah, the way out does feel
pretty set in now that I've grooved it
in. And, uh, the sole kit, sole frame is
really fast. It's definitely really
fast. Quick back slide test.
So, yeah. Feeling good on the back
slide.
Solid. Okay. Royale on a square ledge.
Test that wheel split.
Do you know what? I didn't do that very
well. And I did stick a little bit on
the front. So, it's not completely
immune.
Obviously, if you do it perfect, it's
going to do it. uh than any foam would.
Still, it gives you that kind of peace
of mind when you're feeling a bit timid
about your groove tricks.
Topside test.
So top sides feel incredible actually.
Feel really easy on the flex cuz the
sole's big and then the flex is perfect.
So I was quite surprised how good that
felt actually. So the best thing about
these skates though is this. Watch
the cess slide proportions
with the sole in the frame actually
works which is a dream come true for me.
You ready? Stomp test.
Mesma
fine eagle.
Mesma
fine eagle.
Okay. The reason why I was using a Mesma
Throne in that last shot is cuz it's my
kind of baseline standard for a skate
that I think is really good, a skate I
really like. And you'll notice that the
stomp on the Flying Eagle sounded just
as good as the stomp on the Mesma skate.
And that's a stompy skate. So, passed
the stomp test.
And
about this Royale stuff, I know I'm
fixating a little bit on this Royale
position and it probably doesn't apply
to most people. A lot of people probably
don't care. Um, I will say that the
Flying Eagle, it royals just like a lot
of those other modern skates on the
market. Standard Omni, them skates 901,
Icon ACT, Mesma Eclipse, Echo Verve, all
those kind of they all just feel similar
on the Royale. this modern position of
Royale, whereas a kind of mess throne
and maybe a Razor Cult
like maybe Ros's M12 with the old sole
kit feels more on the side of your foot.
Um, which is a really nice feeling. Um,
but I will take I'll take the hit on
that one. Um, for all the other amazing
features that I love on this skate and
you will just get used to whatever
position you're used to anyway,
obviously. Um, and as you can see from
the video, I could I could control
backslides. So, that's that's all that
matters really. But the main thing, and
I can't accentuate this enough that I
liked about this skate, was really the
way it felt totally part of me. As soon
as I put my foot in, it felt really part
of me. It felt really controlled. It
felt like I didn't have something alien
on my foot, more so than any other skate
I've ever tried. Um, and I mean that
sincerely. I really just felt
immediately I don't know why. I don't
know if it's just the shape of the boot
or the the liner and boot combination or
whether it's got something to do with
the sole frame and the way that's kind
of this one piece thing and it's making
it more responsive or or just the sizing
is perfect for me. But then sizing is
perfect me on perfect for me on a few
other skates and they don't quite feel
as with me. There's no there's no
sloppiness. There's no anything. It
feels just so secure. Uh, obviously
that's for me and everyone's got a
different foot shape, but I will say
that Gaston said the same thing when he
had them on. Rob Kelllet said the same
thing when he put them on. He rides for
the company, so it's probably a bit
biased, but still. Um, he he did mention
that particular thing about the fit.
They're fast to skate in. The sole frame
is really fast to grind in. Um, they're
very solid. And the other thing that I
noticed I really really liked was the
the flex the cuff. Um so I I often get
kind of digging into my ankle here when
flexing over and the cuff digging into
my ankle. I didn't get any of that on
this. I got no discomfort and I really
suffer from discomfort from like flexing
my foot over um doing grind tricks these
days at this age. And so I this is I
know I keep saying this on the channel.
Every time I review a pair of skates, I
go, "Ah, that's amazing. I'm going to
skate that skate. I really, really feel
strongly about this one. Um, I'm
definitely going to be carrying on
skating this skate." Obviously, I only
review skates on the channel that I like
anyway. So, it goes without saying that
I probably I'm going to end up liking a
lot of skates, but I really, really,
really, really liked this skate. So, um,
I'm totally bought into it. And the
thing is is this one here, which I think
is the better buy, the lower priced one
is only £200.
Um, obviously the higherend one, it's
just a different feeling with that
liner. And some people will like that.
Um, different feeling. And then the
other components, like I said, that are
lower end on this one don't really
matter. Laces, cuff bolts, buckles, like
who cares? So, for £200, I think a lot
of people are going to like really like
this skate. Um, I think it's going to be
the new go-to when someone walks in the
shop and says, "Oh, I want to get a pair
of of aggressive skates and I don't
really know what." Previously, that was
the USD Ion. And it still will be the
USDON for a lot of people cuz it's such
a great skate as well. But I think this
is here to compete at that end of the
market with that USD basic AON boot.
It's a little bit cheaper now that AON
basics 220 230 now. This is 200. Um, and
it's got advantages. soul frame being
harder, the flex being being better, and
the cuff being better, I think. So, um
yeah, watch out USDA on basic. I um I've
only got good things to say about these.
So, you can pre-order these. We're going
to fly some of these in cuz I want to
get them quickly. So, we're going to fly
them in from China. Um so, do pre-order
on the website. they'll I'll put a link
in the description or something. But
just do make sure if you want the skates
early enough then then do pre-order with
that link to make sure you don't have to
wait too long for them. We'll bring in
more later on a boat. But in the
meantime, let your pre-orders in on this
one and the SF60 Pro if you prefer that
one. Okay, thanks for watching. See you
in the next video. Bye.
I don't think I've been this excited

having. And I'm so glad that somebody's
done it where we couldn't. And um yeah,
I just can't wait to do some say slides
on them. I think that would be really
good for grinds as well. Obviously, it
protects the wheels better from grinds
on ledges like that as well.
So
really really excited and maybe a little
biased towards this skate because I feel
like in a roundabout way had some kind
of input I suppose
um or maybe like a subconscious
influence. The sole plate is really wide
40 mm on this size. This is a size 40 to
41 and that's about as big as a sole
plate gets on that size of skate. The
negative plate's really big as well if
you like your negatives. And I did just
notice as well that the sole plate is is
angled this way a little bit. So that'll
make it faster on soul tricks. And it
just wears down a bit better. There's
just more material to wear into and just
wears in nicer when it's angled like
that. Lasts a bit longer as well from
wearing down. And just to explain to all
the people, well, like the two people
watching who don't know this already
because we keep talking about this on
the channel. So, sorry to everyone else
who has to keep listening to me saying
this. The benefit of having a solo skate
is because you don't have to put bolts
in here and you can move the wheels
further out. And having wider wheels in
the middle is better for grinding of
course. So just like the USD AON, this
is doing the same thing, but the
difference is that this is just a sole
and frame one piece part on the on the
base of the boot, whereas the USD AON 60
is a an entire one piece boot. And
disadvantage of that is they have to
make the boot have the same plastic as
the frame. And you want the boot to be
softer because you want it to be a bit
more flexy and you want the frame and
the sole to be harder because you want
it to grind fast. So this um finally
well Teneck have done it as well um but
the Tenic one isn't as wide split as
this. This is the first person to
successfully do a really wide split soul
frame I think. And I'm I'm here for it
completely. I love it. I can't I can't
find anything wrong with this. I'm
completely invested in this. As you can
see the frame really nice proportions. I
don't know how they could have made that
frame any better. Not Oh yeah. Notice
the um the straight edges. This is a nod
to old school skates
um having these kind of straight bits
instead of the usual angled frames
you're used to seeing. That's just
because on normal removable frames you
want them to be symmetrical. So you can
flip them over and to make them last
twice as long. With a soul frame you're
not ever flipping it over. So you can
you have a luxury of kind of making a
slightly different design and they
wanted to have something a bit old
school looking like an old 50/50 frame.
So, I think that's quite cool. I think
some of the guys here thought it looked
a bit old school and budget, but I think
it's just getting used to used to that
look when you're not used to it. I like
it. We'll find out about Royale in a
little bit when I go skating cuz that's
if you know me on the channel, you know
I'm big on like how a Royale will feel
on a skate and that'll be a make it or
break it kind of thing for me. Let's
move on to the boot. So, the boot, love
the silhouette. Love the lines here.
It's not just an aesthetic thing, these
lines. The plastic goes from thick to
less thick to thin like this. And that's
so that the laces, the top of the boot
with the laces can be pulled down right
over your foot. That plastic is really
thin on top. So you can really tighten
it over your over your foot. And h yeah,
it gets gradually thick as it goes down.
So nice and solid on the bottom of the
skate. Really like that. They're not the
first people to do that. I'm sure I'm
sure them skates have something similar.
But yeah, that that is the best way to
make a hard boot skate in my opinion.
And the plastic, it's TPU plastic. I'm
sure it is. I can feel it's like really
elastic. Really good quality, really
high quality plastic.
And then you've got the liner.
So, shall we talk about the liner?
We've got the stock liners here
on this one.
Now, I've put this on already.
And immediately I was just like, "Oh my
days, this is the most comfortable skate
I've put on in a in a really long time.
They just perfectly fit me." Obviously
that is unique to the individual. Like
everyone's got a different foot shape,
but for me, whatever they've done with
this this shape and this size, 40 to 41
fits me perfectly. fits about the same
as a themkate size small shell or a 40
to 41 in a Mesma Eclipse or Icon or
something like that.
Maybe like slightly larger than a UK 6
in like a Razers SL by a couple of
millimeters, something like that. Um,
yeah, this is the stock liner and I love
it. I think it's an amazing stock liner.
It was so comfortable.
um just just as soon as I put my foot in
it, I felt just very at home like almost
couldn't believe how how good it felt.
The insole is like that. Oh yeah, that's
one of the other differences. The insole
on the non pro version is just like a
foam insole like that. And the Pro
version is like an orthotic style
insole. So it's like the one that like
um supports the arch of your foot a bit
more. Not much else to see on the liner,
but
high quality, looks good. And then the
higherend liner for the SF60 Pro is this
um kind of thing which is a nod to
intuition liners. I'm not entirely sure
how I feel about this kind of imitation
of intuition liners that companies kind
of keep doing, but I was having a proper
think about it. And because intuition
has become such a it's such a category
of its own when it comes to liners like
you either have like it seems to me that
there's intuition liners and there's
other liners and intuition being this
kind of low volume high density foam.
They've got a patent on their foam of
course. So everyone else who's trying to
make a liner like to replicate that or
be like that has to like communicate to
their customer base that this is that
category of liner. And the way that
Flying Eagle have done it is I mean I
guess these holes on the liner kind of
emulate the intuition liner and the
eyelets look very similar but also this
gold color. We know intuition uses a
gold colors as kind of part of their
detailing on their branding. So clearly
they're saying like look this is like an
intuition liner. Get in the comments
like what do you think about companies?
Do you think that's that's okay to like
just kind of signal
that's what we're trying to do? We're
trying to make that category of liner or
do you think it's like they're they're
doing a bootleg and they should just
kind of be a bit more unique in their
branding. The problem is if they're more
unique with it, then it makes it really
hard for the customer to know that that
that is a really high-end premium liner.
That's kind of a shorefire way of
letting the customer know is by doing
this kind of color way to make it look
like a an intuition liner, but I don't
know. What do you guys think? I don't I
guess that's a point of discussion.
Either way, that liner, it does have
this uh it's not is not quite the same
as an intuition liner. I guess it feels
a little thicker around the edges. The
tongue isn't quite as shaped, but it
does feel really high quality. high
density, low volume, and like a really
precise liner. It's exactly what you'd
expect. It It will perform in a similar
way to an intuition liner where it's
just like it's so dense, the foam. And
trying these on side by side with the
stock liners, I could feel that this was
a more premium line. It was supporting
me more. It made the skate feel a little
stiffer
or at least a little like when you're
flexing over the skate, supported all
the way, if you know what I mean.
There's no bend point. It just felt like
the whole thing was coming with you.
Whereas the lower density foam maybe
felt like there was more of a like a
flex point in there, which you might
like. You might think that that's um
something you prefer if you like flexi
skates. So, you make that decision. I
actually did decide in the end after
standing at my desk all day that I think
I do like possibly the stock liner
better. It's just a little bit more
forgiving on my ankle. And weirdly, I
felt like it offered me a little bit
more width. Um yeah, it definitely did.
like when I was stood in the the
intuition liner that on my left foot I
felt a little like narrow towards the
front of the foot whereas that one I
didn't feel it when I when I put that in
the same foot. So
um definitely works to be a more premium
liner. Um but if you don't need to spend
the extra £80 like I really just think
this like stock liner is really really
incredible and it feels so comfortable.
So yeah, I think each person is going to
have their own opinion on that. And then
let's look at the shock absorber.
Yeah. So there you go. That does that is
the um lower end kind of little cover
thing that goes in the the kind of the
cheaper skate. So it doesn't have the
orange bit on it like the pro version of
the skate does. And then
yeah, a little shock absorber like this.
This is actually that orange color on
the other one. There you go. Like a
little orange color just to go with the
brand in there. Uh same same shock
absorber on the Pro model as on the the
basic model. I did actually find when I
put both on side by side, I preferred
again I preferred the basic model not
having
that extra orange bit on the back. I
felt like the heel raise was then too
high with that little extra orange bit.
And I did find it really noticeable
actually weirdly cuz that's only
probably
8 mm or something like that. But it
definitely could feel it in there. And
because this has got a ra it's got a
raised heel already underneath. If you
were to take that soul frame off, you'd
see it's got a raised heel. Quick
intermission. So, this is the sole frame
without the boot on. There you go.
Raised heel at the back and then the
second wheel really close into the foot
there. And they feel very substantial
and very weighty. And you'll notice that
there's no dampener piece of material
over the top of this between the boot
and the soul frame. So, you could always
add your own later if you felt the need
to. Then the hardware in here. Um, yeah,
really solid. It's got that bridge
hardware that everyone's using now. So,
it looks like it'll be really easy to
take that song frame on and off. And
then, um, sizing. Yeah, I skating I'm
skating the size 40 to 41.
And,
um, like I said, it fits fits me
perfectly. I'm usually a size 41. I'll
put the size charts up on the screen.
They're slightly different size charts
between the normal white version and the
Pro version.
because of the different liner that goes
in them. Just read the size chart, but
they're saying that there's an extra
half a size kind of available in the
more premium liner. Um, I don't think
that's necessarily true. I I put them on
side by side and they both felt about
the same size to me. So, just keep that
in mind. And I think like that's all I'm
going to say about the spec for the time
being. I'm going to go and have a little
skate on them and then report back.
Can you film my first Royale, please?
Oh no.
Okay,
second Royale.
It needs a little bit of braking on the
curb.
Yeah, it looks a bit shallow.
Yeah, it was shallow. Yeah.
Oh, it feels good. But, um, they're
definitely really hard. The soul frames,
the plastic's really hard. So, it means
they're really fast. Like, especially on
soul tricks. Um, but on a rough edge
like that, you also feel a lot of
vibration through it. So, let's go to an
actual skate park and skate them. Good
morning. I'm wearing my uh flying eagle
gear.
So, I I slammed the skate on a curb for
like half an hour yesterday and
absolutely grooved the out of it.
So, um, hopefully we'll get some whales
done. Quick spin around the skatepark.
See how they roll.
Okay. So, yeah, the way out does feel
pretty set in now that I've grooved it
in. And, uh, the sole kit, sole frame is
really fast. It's definitely really
fast. Quick back slide test.
So, yeah. Feeling good on the back
slide.
Solid. Okay. Royale on a square ledge.
Test that wheel split.
Do you know what? I didn't do that very
well. And I did stick a little bit on
the front. So, it's not completely
immune.
Obviously, if you do it perfect, it's
going to do it. uh than any foam would.
Still, it gives you that kind of peace
of mind when you're feeling a bit timid
about your groove tricks.
Topside test.
So top sides feel incredible actually.
Feel really easy on the flex cuz the
sole's big and then the flex is perfect.
So I was quite surprised how good that
felt actually. So the best thing about
these skates though is this. Watch
the cess slide proportions
with the sole in the frame actually
works which is a dream come true for me.
You ready? Stomp test.
Mesma
fine eagle.
Mesma
fine eagle.
Okay. The reason why I was using a Mesma
Throne in that last shot is cuz it's my
kind of baseline standard for a skate
that I think is really good, a skate I
really like. And you'll notice that the
stomp on the Flying Eagle sounded just
as good as the stomp on the Mesma skate.
And that's a stompy skate. So, passed
the stomp test.
And
about this Royale stuff, I know I'm
fixating a little bit on this Royale
position and it probably doesn't apply
to most people. A lot of people probably
don't care. Um, I will say that the
Flying Eagle, it royals just like a lot
of those other modern skates on the
market. Standard Omni, them skates 901,
Icon ACT, Mesma Eclipse, Echo Verve, all
those kind of they all just feel similar
on the Royale. this modern position of
Royale, whereas a kind of mess throne
and maybe a Razor Cult
like maybe Ros's M12 with the old sole
kit feels more on the side of your foot.
Um, which is a really nice feeling. Um,
but I will take I'll take the hit on
that one. Um, for all the other amazing
features that I love on this skate and
you will just get used to whatever
position you're used to anyway,
obviously. Um, and as you can see from
the video, I could I could control
backslides. So, that's that's all that
matters really. But the main thing, and
I can't accentuate this enough that I
liked about this skate, was really the
way it felt totally part of me. As soon
as I put my foot in, it felt really part
of me. It felt really controlled. It
felt like I didn't have something alien
on my foot, more so than any other skate
I've ever tried. Um, and I mean that
sincerely. I really just felt
immediately I don't know why. I don't
know if it's just the shape of the boot
or the the liner and boot combination or
whether it's got something to do with
the sole frame and the way that's kind
of this one piece thing and it's making
it more responsive or or just the sizing
is perfect for me. But then sizing is
perfect me on perfect for me on a few
other skates and they don't quite feel
as with me. There's no there's no
sloppiness. There's no anything. It
feels just so secure. Uh, obviously
that's for me and everyone's got a
different foot shape, but I will say
that Gaston said the same thing when he
had them on. Rob Kelllet said the same
thing when he put them on. He rides for
the company, so it's probably a bit
biased, but still. Um, he he did mention
that particular thing about the fit.
They're fast to skate in. The sole frame
is really fast to grind in. Um, they're
very solid. And the other thing that I
noticed I really really liked was the
the flex the cuff. Um so I I often get
kind of digging into my ankle here when
flexing over and the cuff digging into
my ankle. I didn't get any of that on
this. I got no discomfort and I really
suffer from discomfort from like flexing
my foot over um doing grind tricks these
days at this age. And so I this is I
know I keep saying this on the channel.
Every time I review a pair of skates, I
go, "Ah, that's amazing. I'm going to
skate that skate. I really, really feel
strongly about this one. Um, I'm
definitely going to be carrying on
skating this skate." Obviously, I only
review skates on the channel that I like
anyway. So, it goes without saying that
I probably I'm going to end up liking a
lot of skates, but I really, really,
really, really liked this skate. So, um,
I'm totally bought into it. And the
thing is is this one here, which I think
is the better buy, the lower priced one
is only £200.
Um, obviously the higherend one, it's
just a different feeling with that
liner. And some people will like that.
Um, different feeling. And then the
other components, like I said, that are
lower end on this one don't really
matter. Laces, cuff bolts, buckles, like
who cares? So, for £200, I think a lot
of people are going to like really like
this skate. Um, I think it's going to be
the new go-to when someone walks in the
shop and says, "Oh, I want to get a pair
of of aggressive skates and I don't
really know what." Previously, that was
the USD Ion. And it still will be the
USDON for a lot of people cuz it's such
a great skate as well. But I think this
is here to compete at that end of the
market with that USD basic AON boot.
It's a little bit cheaper now that AON
basics 220 230 now. This is 200. Um, and
it's got advantages. soul frame being
harder, the flex being being better, and
the cuff being better, I think. So, um
yeah, watch out USDA on basic. I um I've
only got good things to say about these.
So, you can pre-order these. We're going
to fly some of these in cuz I want to
get them quickly. So, we're going to fly
them in from China. Um so, do pre-order
on the website. they'll I'll put a link
in the description or something. But
just do make sure if you want the skates
early enough then then do pre-order with
that link to make sure you don't have to
wait too long for them. We'll bring in
more later on a boat. But in the
meantime, let your pre-orders in on this
one and the SF60 Pro if you prefer that
one. Okay, thanks for watching. See you
in the next video. Bye.
