Back in 1857,
120 people from the Baker-Fancher wagon train
were brutally massacred.
These murders took place right here in Mountain Meadows,
just west of Cedar City, Utah.
50 members of the Mormon militia, along with
Paiute Native American allies, they planned this.
They coordinated this slaughter.
They hunted down, they laid siege,
and murdered nearly everyone.
And I'll tell ya, this town, the locals, they don't like
to talk about this.
It's a stain that they can never remove
from this bloody soil.
And I believe that this horrific event has set off
a chain of events that has haunted this town ever since.
[Zak] There are things in this world that we will never
fully understand. -[echoes] Understand.
[Zak] We want answers.
We have worked years to build our credibility...
our reputation...
working alongside the most renowned professionals
in the field,
capturing groundbreaking proof of the paranormal.
-[Billy] It's working! -[man] Whoa.
I can't give you an explanation.
[Zak] This is our evidence.
Our "Ghost Adventures."
[Zak] In 1857, the Baker-Fancher wagon train left Arkansas,
bound for California.
The party made their way south along the Mormon Road,
eventually stopping to rest at Mountain Meadows.
The Mormons of Cedar City perceived these outsiders
as a threat, so they made an alliance with the local
Paiute Native Americans to eliminate the settlers.
For five days, the Paiutes, under the orders
of the Mormons, laid siege on the wagon train,
but the attack proved unsuccessful.
On the sixth day, two Mormons approached the settlers,
claiming to have made a deal with the Paiutes that would
allow them safe passage if they would
surrender their weapons.
Weak and hungry, the settlers
reluctantly agreed. -[horse neighs]
Once unarmed, the Mormons slaughtered
these innocent people in cold blood.
So to start this investigation, we have a couple different
places that we are going to investigate.
And we received a tip about a man named George Wood.
This guy was a very evil man, but a lot of locals here see
him as a Mormon pioneer.
However, he was not only evil, he was a murderer
and may had something to do with the planning and execution
of the Mountain Meadows Massacre.
[children scream and cry]
So, guys, right now, he's on our radar, George Wood.
His log cabin from the mid-1800's...
-[Billy] Yeah. -...still exists.
-[Aaron] Whoa! -[Zak] Not only that,
but it's in an area that is said to be popping up with
a lot of paranormal activity as we speak.
[man screams]
[Zak] This massacre has stained Cedar City, and for
this investigation, we will be tackling three locations.
One -- the home of George Wood, said to have
masterminded the massacre.
Two -- the house of Joseph Hunter, a neighbor
of George Wood.
Then finally, a subterranean tunnel,
thousands of feet long, that may have opened up
a portal to the pain and suffering of the victims of
this massacre, being fed by a malicious entity.
We just got a call that the person that we were
supposed to meet to talk to us about George Wood
about the massacre...
has just bailed on us last second.
[Jay] No one wants to talk about it.
[Aaron] She doesn't wanna talk.
No, we were tipped off that before we even started...
-[Jay] Right, -...that we might run into
some objection for us talking
about the massacre and us talking about George Wood as
a very bad person. -You can't hide history though.
You cannot hide history.
[suspenseful music playing]
[Zak] This door right here
leads to the home of one of the most sadistic men
in Mormon history.
And right here, you're touching the wood fibers
of where this absolute monster lived.
Before we enter his residence where his spirit may remain,
we just got a tip that, yes, our first historian
interview did not show up. She canceled on us.
We may have found someone else.
A local resident of Cedar City has information regarding
George Wood and his involvement in a savage murder.
-George Wood. -Mm-hmm.
[Zak] I need to ask you a couple questions about him.
-Sure. -Are you Mormon?
-I'm not. -You're not, OK.
-Is my mom gonna see this? -No.
-OK, then no. -We talked earlier.
-OK, got it. -She's not gonna see this.
George Wood, good guy, bad guy?
I'm not really sure.
I mean, he did some really good things to help build the town.
He also made some mistakes.
I know he did confess to killing someone,
and he, you know, he did serve time for that,
but that's actually as much as I know about that.
[Jay] That's a pretty big mistake.
Yeah, that's a bigger, that's bigger than a mistake.
Of course, people -- yeah.
When people are around you and stuff like that,
they talk about George Wood.
Do they talk about this guy more about the good things that
he did and try not to mention the murder?
Can I be totally honest with you?
We would hope so.
You're the first person to ever ask me about George Wood.
-Why? -I don't know.
-OK. -We have some digging to do.
We have some digging to do.
Why are the people of Cedar City so reluctant
to speak of this heinous crime?
What evil are they afraid of?
[Jay] So, about that murder.
"Thursday morning, July 28th, 1862, here in Cedar City,
"George Wood armed himself with a percussion cap revolver,
"mounted, and rode his horse to the Ezra Higby home shared by
"Higsby's new wife, Olive, and her daughters.
"Olive and her daughter, Emily,
were located in the cabin's floor."
I guess they were just waking up.
It was still early morning.
"Wood, without warning, burst into the room
and opened fire."
-No, no, no! -[gunshot blasts]
"A bullet aimed at Olive entered her right thigh,
"cutting her femoral artery and then embedded itself
into her abdomen."
-Run, run, run! -[as Emily screams]
-[as Olive screams] -[gunshot blasts]
"The next bullet passed through Emily's right thigh.
Then this respected citizen," that's what they say,
he was known as a respected citizen, "Proceeded to use
his weapon to club Olive repeatedly on the skull."
-[as George] Woman! -[as Olive] Get off of me!
-[screams] -No, no!
So what happened to the daughter?
"Wood, satisfied they had murdered Olive,
"turned his attention again to Emily, who had fled
"into the street.
-"George left the house. -Come back!
"Grabbed the wounded teenager,
"dragged her back into the house.
"Then, while yelling obscenities, he beat her with
"his gun over and over until she had
cracked her skull."
[Zak] Although Olive was savagely killed, her daughter Emily
miraculously survived, and George Wood was sentenced
to life in prison.
But after only three years, he was pardoned
in a gross miscarriage of justice.
I think maybe she was digging a little too deep
and found out some stuff.
-About the massacre. -About him, his involvement.
-With the massacre. -with the massacre.
-And she was opening her mouth. -[Billy] Yeah.
[Zak] If Olive's murder was an attempt to silence
her knowledge of George Wood's involvement
in the 1857 massacre, this horrific event would leave
a stain on this entire community that would last to this day.
[dark music playing]
[Zak] I was told...
there's another house near the cabin
that is very haunted.
There's a lot of activity there.
Just steps away from George Wood's cabin,
sits the home of Joseph Hunter.
Like George, Joseph was a founding member
of Cedar City.
He was considered by most to be an honorable man.
-He apparently died in the home. -OK.
[Zak] of natural causes.
But being in close proximity to the cabin of George Wood,
maybe there's some chaos going on... -Exactly.
between those two...
vessels, those two chambers of energy.
I said in the beginning of this investigation that we don't
know where the path is gonna lead us.
And I heard there was some multiple locations.
That's all I knew about. But we just found you two.
Tina and...
-Shannon. -[Zak] Shannon.
-Mother-daughter? -[both] Yes.
OK. Our primary focus on coming to
this area of land was George Wood's cabin.
Have you ever been inside there?
-[both] Many times. -[Zak] OK.
-[Shannon] Many times. -What's the overall vibe there?
The vibe is really creepy in there.
It's very heavy.
[sinister chord strike]
And it's just very stifling in there.
I had no idea...
the evil that had taken place surrounding the cabin
and the owner. -Yeah.
Inside this house, have you had experiences
as well? -[both] Yes.
What kind of things have you experienced in here?
We've heard footsteps on the stairs.
We've gotten EVPs.
We've had boards that were leaned up against the wall,
would fly across the room and land in the middle
of the floor. -[Zak]- Uh-huh.
-We've had quite a few things. -[Zak] So a lot of activity.
-A lot of activity. -Yep.
[Zak] We have decided to wait to enter George Wood's cabin
and Joseph Hunter's house until lockdown.
OK, so there's an underground tunnel
that goes under Cedar City. And it's the old sheep tunnel.
What?
[Zak] And it's very active and it's very scary.
-Ooh. -[Zak] OK?
So we're gonna go check that out.
[eerie music builds]
We interviewed a mother-daughter last night
back near where the cabin is, and they told us that we have
to check out a tunnel that runs underneath Cedar City.
So we are walking there right now.
Throughout Cedar City, and the regional area,
what is the darkest event that happened on the soil?
-The massacre. -[Zak] The massacre.
All of the Mormon militia were based out of where?
-Cedar City. -[Zak] Cedar City.
Where is George Wood's cabin? Cedar City.
[Billy] In Cedar City.
We are big believers that the energy of events
like this are stored.
And a lot of times, it's stored in surfaces like
the Stone Tape Theory, but first and foremost,
where is it stored, Aaron? -In the ground.
[Zak] In the ground.
So if we have an opportunity to go underneath Cedar City,
we are going to do it, because if it absorbed
a bad memory, a tragic event where people died,
maybe this tunnel could be some type of portal, connecting all
of the tragedy, all of the pain, all the suffering,
all the bloodshed, and possibly being a gateway
to that spiritual realm.
[distorted screams]
[Zak] Tina and Shannon have agreed to meet us at
the entrance to the tunnel. -Hello again.
-[Shannon] Hello. -[Tina] Hello.
[Zak] Where's the tunnel at?
[Shannon] It just starts right over here.
-OK, so we go this way? -[Tina] Yes.
There's also some Native American...
site here, so there could be activity
that's tied to that as well. -So wait, there's a Native American site
by where the tunnel is?
-Right up here. -[Zak] Right up here.
What Native American tribe is this?
[Tina] Paiute.
[Zak] Paiute are the ones that the Mormon militia allied with
to carry out the massacre. -[Billy] Right.
And here we are
at their land with the opening of the tunnel.
You see how everything connects?
Is there a dark sense in the tunnel?
-Is it scary? -It's scary.
I don't like to be in there.
Yeah, it has a dark, a heavy feeling.
We were here recently, and I saw some movement at
the end of the tunnel. -What did it look like?
-It was just shadows. -It's so dark, you can't tell.
-It was hard to tell. -It's ominous.
-[Billy] Yeah. -[Shannon] You're not quite sure
what it is -[Zak] Is in there with you.
-[Tina] Yes, exactly. -[Zak] OK.
-How long does it go on for? -About, I think, almost a mile.
At least a mile, something like that.
At least a mile? Over 5,000 feet?
-Yes. -It goes all the way to
the middle of town... -Yes.
-...so it's quite a ways. -Yes.
[Zak] The land near the entrance to this tunnel was also the site
of a horrific explosion...
[loud explosion]
that took the lives of two local boys in the 1950s.
And just recently, some local explorers discovered
the remains of a man in a separate tunnel,
also under Cedar City.
Having just been told the entrance of this tunnel
opens directly in front of a Paiute village,
could this tunnel reflect
what we discovered about the Sutro Tunnel acting
as a massive and powerful portal to the netherworld?
We are playing with a very, very dangerous portal.
A portal that I don't think that we have ever faced in
our entire ghost-investigating careers.
Oh, my lord!
Well, there she is.
The opening of the tunnel that goes for over 5,000 feet,
at least 5,000 feet, and that runs
underneath Cedar City.
Aaron, you wanna lead in there?
[Billy] Is that a shopping cart?
[Aaron] Yeah, dude.
-Oh, my God. -[Billy] Wow.
[water splashing]
[Zak] This tunnel actually feels like a gateway to hell.
What horrors lie entombed here?
[Aaron] Oh, my God.
[Zak] And what will we face tonight at lockdown?
[Billy] Hello?
[Zak] As we prepare for tonight's investigation,
we are approached by a local paranormal investigator who has
experiences he would like to share with us.
Inside of here, is there things going on?
Have you experienced things in here, or have
you witnessed others?
I definitely have experienced stuff in the Hunter Home.
-What happened? -[Josh] Our first hunt
that we did, we were in actually the south room
while it was still being remodeled.
And I had asked, are you happy that we saved your home?
And gave him time to respond.
And of course, we didn't hear anything until we went
to the EVP.
You could hear a slight whisper, "Yes."
-Really? -I was very elated,
happy to know that he was happy
that they saved the home. -Mm-hmm.
Um, a while later, like...
we knew that we could catch stuff here,
so we would come back.
My co-founder and I were in the north room.
It was actually during a really beautiful lightning storm,
which they say...
brings out activity 'cause of the energy.
They had the wire mesh that they were using to do something
with the walls inside. -OK, OK.
But as we were sitting there, it sounded like people were
walking on it. -Interesting.
-Yeah, it was. -You could hear that very loud?
We could hear it very loudly. We heard it with our own ears.
We caught it on our EVPs.
Did you or anybody else in your group see anything
or feel anything?
Um, not see anything.
But every time we've come, we could feel something,
but in a non -- non...
violent way.
I know we've caught stuff in the Wood home.
You've been in George Wood's home?
[Josh] We have been in George Wood's home.
-You did? -And it's a different feeling.
What kind of a different feeling?
-Not as welcoming. -[Zak] Really?
Yeah, it's definitely not as welcoming.
Now you have just really validated to us what we were
sensing near the cabin and what type of person George Wood was.
Did you have any other experiences inside
George Wood's cabin besides
feeling a very unsettling presence?
We did capture some EVPs of what we could hear as children
screaming or some kind of screaming.
-It was very faint. -Screaming?
[Josh] But screaming.
It seemed like they were screaming.
That's interesting, considering the fact
of what he did. -[Jay] Right?
[Zak] Before we lock down, I send Billy and Aaron to
the site of the massacre,
approximately 30 miles west of Cedar City.
[Billy] Set up right here.
[Zak] I've given them instructions to fly our new infrared drone
above the killing field in an attempt to capture evidence
of paranormal activity.
All right, we're here at the Mountain Massacre memorial site,
and just below us, behind camera, is the field
where the 120 to 140.
They don't even know exactly how many were massacred
in that field
and were actually buried there as well.
We got my thermal drone.
This is a much bigger drone,
and it has a thermal imaging camera on it.
I have no idea what we're gonna capture with this,
but why not do a thermal scan of the entire field
and the surrounding area and see what we get?
There's literally nobody out here.
We are very, very remote. In fact, there's nobody down.
There's no ranchers around. There's...
I didn't even see any cattle or anything.
There's just this memorial that overlooks the entire valley
where this took place. -[Aaron] Yeah.
[Billy] So I'm hoping that maybe we will pick up some sort of
anomalous heat signature coming out of the ground,
walking around. I have no idea.
Maybe we'll catch nothing, but I would like
to do that right now.
[drone whirring]
You went out to the massacre site.
Were you able to detect anything strange using
your thermal drone?
I wanted to just show you this, Zak.
This was taken before dusk, just to kind of give you
an idea of what the landscape looks like.
The National Park Service has this trail.
There's a parking lot.
You can actually hike up this trail to the top
of this little mountain.
And there's a memorial on that side that has all the names
of the people.
That's where I launched the thermal drone.
And this area all out here is the field.
Now, I'm gonna show you this thermal footage here.
So, once I deployed the thermal drone, I'm out here
and I'm scanning, we're going very slow.
Any type of heat signatures -- people, animals,
rocks that have been in the sun all day long collecting energy,
they're gonna show up as yellow,
bright yellow, that's heat. -Right.
Right. They're storing all that heat.
[Billy] Right.
Cold, that's the purple, the dark purple colors,
that's the actual colors of the field here.
Now... I'm gonna --
As I'm pushing in closer, I notice something
really strange, Zak.
And it took me a couple times watching this to see.
Over here on the left, as I'm flying closer,
there are three small anomalies in this little field.
Well, their remains are still in the ground.
-[Billy] Yes. -They're all buried where
they were slaughtered. -Exactly.
-So, if you look right here
where my cursor is... -[Zak] It's a slaughter field.
...there are three anomalies, and it looks like
they're running across this field.
-[Zak] Go ahead and play it. -[Billy] OK, ready?
-Can you see them right there? -[Zak] Oh, wow.
Um, there is three of them.
It looks like they're running from the field,
The massacre field.
[Billy] They're running directly from the field.
Do you think those are animals?
Do you think they're deer or something like that?
-[Billy] They can be animals. -But are they projecting heat?
-[Billy] Yes. -[Zak] I don't know if those
would be spirits projecting heat.
Remember, um...
what was the place? -Gettysburg.
What side are you on? The Union?
Confederate?
-The Gettysburg one was heat, -And we couldn't explain that
being a living person. -And it had a rifle.
It literally had something sticking up.
Yeah, we couldn't explain that being a living person.
Are they spirits running for their life?
I don't know.
And then the next thing I wanna show you,
I'm gonna zoom in here.
When...
When a wagon train is being attacked, you've heard the term
"circle the wagons." -Mm-hmm.
[Billy] They literally circled the wagons and dug trenches so
that the tires in the box of the wagon was low to the ground
for cover. Think about that.
You're building a barricade.
So the wagon train, that was their defense in this siege.
To circle the wagons and they would put the cattle
and everyone's on the inside.
So that was their form of fortification.
-[Billy] Now, look at this. -[Zak] What is that?
[Billy] So this is in the middle of the...
[Zak] What the heck?
This is in the middle of the field.
Of the massacre field?
[Billy] Yes, of the actual massacre field.
[Zak] There's two circles.
[Billy] The first thing I thought of was circling wagons.
Yeah, but those would be visible, right?
If... Let's say that it was...
Here's the thing. I mean, they can't be rocks
'cause they're not glowing yellow.
No, but what if there's...
[Zak] Are they bushes?
What if there's something in the trench that absorbs heat
during the day sun that is making that area
glow at night because it's retaining heat?
I mean, seeing those two circles, that's really strange.
Yeah, they stuck out like a sore thumb or like that.
That is weird -- And it's a different color temperature.
-[Billy] Right. -Very good findings.
Very good findings.
OK, we have begun our investigation.
It is dark out.
Billy and I are gonna go investigate the cabin
of George Wood.
We're also gonna go back and investigate the house
of Joseph Hunter.
We're gonna see how all these pieces connect together,
because in the center is this very tragic, atrocious
act, a massacre, an absolute slaughter of women,
children, and men.
As Billy and I gear up for our investigation,
Aaron and Jay are a short distance away about
to enter the tunnel.
Right now, we're about to go inside the tunnel.
Jeff's over here. He's just setting up
the thermal camera, and I got our gear ready.
Jay and I are gonna take that wagon
and just go through the whole thing.
We have to go through a little bit of water first,
but that's OK.
[Zak] Remember, just a short distance from the entrance to
this tunnel, two boys were killed in a tragic explosion.
[Aaron] Neil and William are the boys' first names, so hopefully
we contact them or any spirits of the land or anything that
can help bring all this together and maybe give us some
sort of evidence of what happened back in the day.
What we're gonna have is a thermal going
all the way down the tunnel.
You can see how far it goes back.
[Jay] Watch our backs and let us know if anything's
coming after us. -Yes, I will.
[Aaron] So, right now he's here.
He's gonna shoot thermal of us all the way down.
When we get down there, let's set up.
We got the binoculars. Let's set those up.
Shoot that down.
When we get all the way to the end, let's start doing
some experiments. -[Jay] Sounds good.
[Zak] Billy and I enter George Wood's cabin,
and I immediately try to communicate
using the Polterpod ITC device.
George, are you here?
[static]
[Zak] George, can you talk to us?
[Billy] George, we know you're here.
Say something.
[Polterpod] I sense a ghost.
Did you just hear, "I sense a ghost?"
Listen, you can hear there's nothing coming through.
[Billy] No.
I swear I heard a man go, "I sense a ghost."
Listen carefully as we capture a male voice telling us
he senses a ghost.
[Billy] George, we know you're here.
Say something.
[Polterpod speaking]
[Zak] Is he feeling our presence from the other side, much like
we feel a ghost from ours?
[Billy] Whoa! Feel that cold air?
-Yes. -[Billy chuckles]
You feel the cold air that just came through here?
Why would there be cold air here?
-The doors are both shut, dude. -[Zak] George, was that you?
Billy and I are in the George Wood's Cabin.
And to really get answers about his involvement with
the massacre and all of this controversy.
We need to establish communication.
I don't like you, dude, because you murdered a woman
and tried killing her daughter viciously.
You don't kill women or children.
I don't have respect for you, George.
I don't have respect for you.
-[Aaron] Jay. -[Jay] Yeah.
[Aaron] Oh, my God.
[Jay] Whoa, that water is really rushing in here.
Dude, we were just in here just looking because
we realized how we had to go.
That water wasn't coming through like that.
[Jay] No.
It's not raining or anything, though.
[Aaron] It's just getting deeper and deeper.
[Jay] You think we could just carry the wagon across
this little pond? -[Aaron speaking]
[Aaron] Almost there.
Ah. All right.
This is why we brought the wader boots.
[Zak] George, why did you guys try to blame the Paiute
on the massacre? Did they actually participate?
As I stopped the Polterpod, I experienced this.
So I just received a couple... Whoa, whoa, whoa!
Just felt something touch my ear.
-[Billy] Really? -[Zak] Yeah.
I don't know if it was a bug, but we did get
responses right here,
[Polterpod speaking]
[Zak] What sounded like a very angry old man.
And so what I'm gonna do is put this device
in the chair where I believe George is sitting.
[Billy] So right now, it's showing that baseline that
we were getting in here, probably of 0.5 milligauss.
That's why you're seeing very little lights light up.
You'll notice it's not making any sound at all.
When we get a spike or the EMF level raises, you'll hear
a beeping sound from the device.
[Zak] George Wood, are you in here with us?
Were you just talking to us?
[Billy] Are you in that chair, George?
-You know what we should do? -[Billy] What?
Since we just made contact and we got a man's voice,
and that's the only man's voice we got for 20 minutes.
-[Billy] Yeah. -I'm gonna grab the XLS
really quick and see if it can
detect his spirit here in this corner.
[Billy] OK.
[Zak] As I'm retrieving the XLS camera, Billy notices something
is around the chair.
[Billy] Oh, my gosh! George?
Zak! Zak, come in here!
The EMF detector is going crazy, dude.
George?
Remember, we didn't get any EMF at all other than a 0.5.
[Zak] Call him out.
[Billy] George Wood.
-[Zak] Whoa, whoa, whoa. -[Billy] What?
[Zak] Whoa. What the [bleep]?
[Billy] What, dude? I can't see.
[Zak] There's a figure. He's on the chair.
[Billy] No, he's not.
[Zak] Yeah, he's moving all around like he's pissed off.
Billy, oh my God.
Right now, I'm getting a figure, everybody.
And it's over here by the doorway.
Looks like it's leaning through the doorway, like looking
through the doorway. -[Billy] No way.
[Zak] This figure was at first jumping all over the place,
like it was very angry.
Now this figure is sitting by the doorway.
-[Billy] What? -[Zak] He's by the chair.
OK, he just stood up. Now he's over by the chair.
-[Billy] He's walking around? -[Zak] Yeah, this is nuts!
George, is that you?
If that's you, sit in the chair.
He just disappeared over the chair.
This is incredible evidence because not only did we capture
the male voice in this corner, but as I look around,
there's no figures anywhere.
[Zak] Zak, my arm hair is standing on end, dude.
-It is freezing cold right here. -[Zak speaking]
[Billy] Holy, [bleep].
[Zak] And then when we go over here, there's nothing.
That was really incredible.
You can see there's nothing in here.
I'm doing a 360 right now.
That was a really incredible visual capture.
Wow.
[Zak] Back in the tunnel, Aaron is setting up infrared binoculars
on a tripod while Jay is using some new tech.
All right, so now that we're here in the tunnel,
we're trying to race against time.
It seems like the water is filling up the tunnel.
That whole area we just came in, there's water rushing in
and starting to fill up.
Luckily, this area is dry, so we're gonna try to be
quick before, who knows, if we get flooded down here.
What I'm doing, I have a 360 VR camera that sees in IR vision,
and I mount it to my shoulder here so that way we can see in
front of me, but also see behind me at the same time
and actually all 360 around me, above me, below me, and at some
point after Aaron's done his experiment, I'm gonna
walk down the tunnel with this and be able to capture
everything around me.
[Zak] Aaron now decides to set up his ultraviolet extended
exposure Polaroid camera.
So right now, I'm taking Polaroids.
I'm using UV light.
We've had great luck with this.
And what I'm doing is I'm gonna just sit here and snap shots
for about 30 seconds to a minute.
And that will give you a long exposure of the shot because
the shutter is just wide open until I hit a button
that says stop.
So as you can see here, like, this would make it,
like, normal.
But since I put it all the way to the top, I hit it, and I can
control when I stop it.
[Zak] Jay now leaves Aaron and begins to walk further
and deeper into the tunnel by himself.
[Jay] Hello?
Heard there are some children down here.
[Aaron] William, Neil, are you here?
I have a special microphone that's designed to pick
up sub-frequencies, that's ultra-low frequencies.
It's running into this recorder right here.
Rolling.
Are there any children down here?
Can you tell me...?
[Zak] Suddenly, Jay is terrified as he sees a strange,
unexplained light moving deeper in the tunnel.
What can we do for you?
-Hey Aaron? -[Aaron] Yeah?
[Jay] There's a light down there.
[bleep]
-Hey, Aaron? -[Aaron] Yeah?
-There's a light down there. -[Aaron] Jeff?
[Jeff] Yeah?
[Aaron] Run down here and help us right now.
[Zak] Aaron immediately calls for Jeff, who is behind them near
the entrance to the tunnel where they came in, as both
he and Jay begin to panic, not knowing what the source of
these lights are. -This is where it gets real.
[bleep]
We're trying to grab our [bleep] as fast as we can
and get out of here. We don't know who they are
or what they are. -[Jay] What the [bleep], dude.
[bleep]
[Zak] Recently, in 2019, a man's body was discovered in
a tunnel also under Cedar City.
So, the guys take no chances for their safety but to regroup
and retreat until they can try to identify
what these lights are.
Billy and I now head over to Joseph Hunter's house.
Joseph, you were a good member of the Latter Day Saints.
Thank you for that.
What are your feelings about the massacre?
What are your feelings about George Wood, your neighbor?
[faint clattering]
Whoa!
-Did you hear that? -[Billy] Yeah, what was that?
Whoa, again. That's twice.
-Did you hear that? -[Billy] Yes.
[Zak] Quiet, quiet, quiet, quiet.
It was in the other room.
-Oh, my God. -Maybe it's him.
[Zak] Yeah, hold on.
I'm getting anxious right now because we just heard something
move in there twice.
It was light.
It was like tapping, but you could hear it move.
[Zak] Hello? Is somebody here?
Right now, we wanna do everything we can to try to
debunk this. But that was not, like...
-[tapping] -[Billy] No.
You left a digital recorder, right?
-[Zak] Yeah. -We'll have to review that.
[Zak] There's a board on the floor, but it wasn't that.
-[Billy] Yeah? -[Zak] Whoa, look!
-Billy, look! -[bleep]
-There's a pencil on the ground. -Was that there before?
[Zak] I don't believe so.
I saw some up on top when I set the recorder down.
[Billy] Wait, is it on camera?
-Probably got it. -That's probably what it was.
It isn't often we capture
incredible poltergeist activity on camera.
And as we review the footage from our X camera rolling in
this room, we make an absolutely amazing discovery.
The first sound Billy and I heard from the other room was
this pencil flying off the desk.
Whoa!
-Whoa! -Then the second sound we hear
is another pencil moving off of
the top part of the desk. -Did you hear that?
Whoa! Again!
Did you hear that? Whoa!
Again!
[distorted voice] Did you hear that?
[distorted voice] Did you hear that?
Did you hear that? Whoa!
Again! That's twice!
-You hear that? -[Billy] Yes.
[Zak] I'd like to point out that
when we discover the pencils,
we notice they're is another one laying on top of the desk
that never moves, along with a pencil that was already
sticking up out of this pencil box.
And when the second pencil fell from the top of the desk,
it rolled all the way to the right.
If you look closely, you can see it here.
We just wanna take a moment and say how truly incredible
this prized capture is.
Both pencils were laying absolutely still before
something which we believe to be a poltergeist knocks them off
the desk to get our attention.
It's moments like this that truly gives us hardcore
evidence of spirit activity. -That's twice!
-Did you hear that? -[Billy] Yes.
[Zak] Over at the tunnel, Aaron, Jay, and Jeff have
retreated back to the tunnel entrance after capturing
an unexplained light anomaly in the tunnel.
They now set up a thermal camera and infrared binoculars
to see if they can document this anomaly again.
Jay's going in a little closer.
What we got now is just, we're gonna set up all the arsenal.
We're gonna shoot as much as we can and see if we can
capture something in the little bit of time we have.
[Jay speaking]
[Aaron] Coming down to you, Jay.
Yeah, I'm not seeing any movement.
I mean, honestly, if we don't pick up a human,
that's honestly almost even more terrifying.
[Zak] The thermal imaging camera Jay is using can see an extreme far
distance, so for him to see absolutely nothing down in
the tunnel could indicate that these unexplained lights
are indeed paranormal.
[Jay] Hello?
[Zak] After Jay says "Hello," the lights reappear,
and he sees no signs of living persons on thermal,
which if these were caused
by living people, they'd easily see
the heat signatures from their bodies in bright white
and yellow colors. -[Jay] Hello?
-[Aaron] What is that, Jay? -[Jay speaking]
[Aaron] That's what we saw.
[Aaron gasps]
[Aaron] Oh, my God, dude. Look, look, look, look, look.
What is that?
What is that, dude?
[Zak] What is causing these lights?
They are making no sounds, but they seem to interact
with the guys.
It is also at this time that the infrared binoculars capture
this strange-shaped anomaly moving in front of the camera.
The guys continue to roll cameras down the tunnel,
but never capture the lights again.
Could they have documented the spirits of the young boys
who died in the explosion near the entrance of the tunnel?
Or were these lights the Native American spirits who live
directly above this tunnel?
Theory could also suggest the guys captured evidence of
spiritual portals opening and closing as the entities of
Cedar City and possibly victims of the massacre traveled back
and forth between time and dimension.
The Mountain Meadows Massacre has left an indelible scar
on Cedar City.
[Polterpod speaking]
Did I just hear "I sense a ghost"?
We now believe the spirits of the slaughtered Baker-Fancher
wagon train, along with Olive Higby,
roam this land searching for justice.
A debt more than 150 years overdue.
