This is it.
One last battle to determine which dream team of cake, sugar, and pumpkin carving
artist wins the Halloween Wars trophy. Let's go, let's go, let's go. The
championship title.
And $30,000.
Now, just three teams remain.
Fright Squad.
Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.
We want to see just a little bit more of a pop of color. I do agree. You had an
opportunity to have some more fun.
Can they finally pull off a win?
What do you see when you look into it?
The Howlers.
The surprise of the season.
A wolf butcher shop. Brilliant.
The Howlers are the winners.
But do they have one last trick up their sleeve?
Just got to finish strong. Keep pushing. We got this. And Team Ghoul. They said
this got to be big, so we're going big.
One of the most dominant teams in Halloween Wars history.
Will they become the first two-time champions? Nothing matters but this
challenge right now.
Victory.
The finale of an unforgettable season starts right now.
Fright Squad, Team Gould, and the Howlers.
Welcome to your final battle.
We made it to the finale, baby. And I'm ready for this.
Let's go.
Today, one of you will stand alone as the Halloween Wars champions and take
home $30,000.
Yeah! All right!
Let's do this!
Through every battle, you've heard the judges' expectations.
This is your last chance to really impress us.
We have worked and clawed our way into this finale, so...
this is bloody important we really really want to win this the entire
competition your final challenge create a killer carnival showpiece
featuring haunted attractions and horrifying characters okay
for your tasting element the judges want a dessert inspired by the outrageous
over-the-top world of carnival food
I never go to Carnival.
Go big or go home empty-handed.
Let's freaking go.
I can't wait to just unleash every bit of creativity that we've been holding
back. Your six hours starts now.
All right, guys.
It needs to be dramatic and it has to stand out. Yes. Okay?
100%. I think what makes us shine is our attention to detail.
Yeah. True. So we've chosen to do a fortune teller, a creepy psychic kind of
gazing into her crystal ball.
To make her even creepier, we're turning her into a spider-like creature by
giving her extra eyes and legs.
Tons of layers, tons of like details.
Patterns. We want like it to be a visual just...
just a feast to the eyes. This is a very complicated and elaborate piece. I think
it's going to be in a big risk, but big reward. I'm feeling like so emotional to
be here in the finale again, but 10 years later.
This one, we need to stay focused. We need to work as a team as we always do.
And we need to work as fast as we can.
We're going like traditional scary killer clown, but with like a little
twist. I really want this to be...
The first time in 16 seasons that a whole team has won Halloween Wars two
times. That's never happened.
I want to freaking win. Me too.
The faster I can get these legs built and at least up, it'll give Kristen more
time to be able to shape the elephant's body.
For our circus act, the Howlers are bringing a giant elephant beast coming
to steal your soul.
And it's going to look crazy.
I'm doing four giant legs out of pumpkin.
A 210 cake for a 210 elephant.
And Kristen's going to be coming in with a nice cake body and head as well.
I'll be cutting circles out of the pumpkin to get nice slabs to stack it
and layer it and then carve away and shape away and make that leg just right.
So right now I'm just making these rounds.
as flat as possible, looking on the table just to see if I see any air gaps,
because those air gaps will create a scene. I want it to be as flat as
possible when it's going on.
Today, I added a little extra braid in.
Is that your battle braid? Battle beads in my battle braid.
All you need is one, right? You know, whatever it takes to win.
Whatever it takes.
I'm coming for them. It means a lot to be in the finale on Halloween Wars.
I've been in the semifinals before, but never the finale.
Team is feeling amped.
I'm feeling amped. It's time for this dogfight.
Let's get it.
David, the legs are coming along really well. Thank you.
So right now I'm kind of working out where the shoulders and like the hump in
the back would be.
It's going to be a heavy cake. For this final showpiece, I am going to be making
a giant elephant body and then a giant elephant head.
We started this journey, we blew the judges away because we focused on one
centerpiece and we made our piece work together as a team. The thing that's
difficult is because we are all working on one central piece, so many of our
next stages hinge on the other person being able to finish their part first.
So it's really hard to see how it's going to come together because
everything's so segmented right now. That's true.
But I feel like it's a metaphor for our team. If we all come together, it's
going to be good.
This is the biggest cake I've ever made in this time frame.
So I know it's a lot to take on, but I think elephant was a smart choice
because I have to add a lot of texture. And when you add a lot of texture, it
can sometimes hide imperfections. Kristen, that's looking killer.
I love that. Your faces are just to die for. I couldn't ask for a better cake
artist to be on my team with me.
Seriously, that's amazing.
We are here. We are in the Halloween Wars finale with these incredible dream
teams and what a dream this season has been, huh? It is just electric in here.
This is... The most exciting moment of my life, getting to be here with the two
of you.
Oh, stop. And these three incredible teams, I think they've all definitely
proven themselves.
And I think each team really excels in one very specific area, right? The
Howlers, they are so fast.
It's such an advantage to work that quickly because they have a lot of time
to think and pivot. We have the Fright Squad, and they are so good with filling
the whole environment with so many details, really setting that mood. And
Team Ghoul, they are definitely our... the best carvers are our best sculptors.
So this is so exciting. Yeah. I expect to see some impressive pieces today.
It's been 40 minutes.
OK, let's move, let's move, let's move.
Faster, faster, faster.
This showpiece is very cake heavy.
The whole clown is going to be solid cake, except for his face and his hands.
And he's going to be on top of like 80 pound pumpkin that Mike cut in half to
make the tunnel.
Squish it together with your hands.
So I'm feeling very stressed.
It's all about proving once again that we are the undisputed champions of
Halloween Wars. We can't be beat.
Today I have to really push the very limits and to do the very best that I
can to make the most memorable dessert in the entire history of Halloween War.
For the tasting element, I am going to make the candy, the apple.
On the outside of the apple, I will have cream with cinnamon spice.
Inside will be caramelized apple. And on the bottom, I will have nut paste mixed
with chocolate spread on the top of a spice cake.
I'm going to start to make my pecan praline.
So I'm doing 50% sugar, 50% pecan.
I can't say pecan.
Pecan. When I say pecan, people think I say bacon.
Does it sound? Yeah, bacon.
Does it sound the same? I don't think so. We are really happy. I mean, two
times, same team being in the final of Halloween War.
It feels good.
I have my white chocolate. I'm going to mix it with the oil over here.
Then cinnamon flavor oil.
But I have to push and to give the very, very, very best today because I want to
go home with the title.
Something's burning.
That's my... Not this.
No, no. Who's burning chocolate?
No, no, my tasting element is over here. Oh!
Oh, no!
My chocolate is burning!
Christophe! Stinks real bad.
Oh, no!
My chocolate is melted.
Actually burn.
He's frazzled now.
I have to do it again.
I've been, you know, always wanting to do, like, a frozen dessert, and I
figured, why not do it for the finale? It's a little more risky.
But, you know, we're in the finale.
Let's go big or go home. So, like, yeah, let's give them something different.
For my final tasting element, I'll be making a chocolate-covered banana
semifreddo. And it's just like a chocolate-dipped frozen banana, but
elevated.
I'm adding my banana puree with some sugar and some gelatin.
I'm just going to slightly whip that into my egg white and cream mixture.
So a semifreddo is essentially like a mousse, but it's almost like ice cream.
So I want it to be like a frozen dessert. It's not going to be fully ice
cream. It's not going to be really a mousse. It's going to be kind of like a
mix of the two.
So I'm making my caramelized hazelnuts. It's going to give a nice crunch and
sweet profile to the banana.
Just take it to the next level, especially when you have something so
creamy and light.
You get that nice crunch in the center. It's going to just give it like a nice
pop. Oh, that looks amazing.
Yeah, it's delicious.
You'll be able to kind of get the idea that you're eating a frozen banana.
It'll have the nice chocolate crisp coating on the outside.
Putting my cake now on top of it.
Cutting little ovals.
That way they have all the layers.
These go in the freezer and they need to set.
When I think of furniture that is just, like, really cool, I immediately think
of, like, ball and claw foot tables.
Psychics, fortune tellers, they're all just, like, the cool, eclectic people of
the world, and I feel like they would have the most outrageous furniture.
I am making the ball and claw legs for our table, as well as the base.
I am using a V-cut gouge to create these little grooves in my faux wood grain.
I love to be able to bring my woodworking skills to the finale.
So I'm just bringing in all the different art mediums for their tools to
use in the pumpkins.
Those little bits of extra bragging rights definitely go a long way. I know
that the judges are asking for fine detail and refined detail, so I'm making
sure that they see all of that just in this one piece.
A lot of your pieces look so real.
Literally, when you make something that you say it's going to be a furniture
piece, it looks like a furniture piece, like legit.
Yeah. Elizabeth, I am nearly done with my legs for this table. When I finish
this, is there anything that you need help with?
Yes, actually. If you can cover some of the arms in black modeling chocolate.
Okay. So we're going to give the fortune teller the actual hand movements that
make her hands move around the crystal ball.
I'm just making sure that none of the cake mixture is getting in the way or
interfering with the movement of our arms.
So for this piece, I'm going to be making our psychic.
She's kind of thin and spindly. You know, she's not really bulky.
I need them to be nice and floppy and loose.
How are you going to make that, like, move? Like, I don't know. You two have
brains that are, like, out of this world. I don't understand.
Can you just take a moment to appreciate?
Can you just hold it up? Oh, my gosh.
It's not even done.
And it looks like wood. She put wood grain in there.
I did.
A champion will be crowned in five hours.
Come on, Jonathan.
You okay, Mike? Yeah, this is just really tedious.
I don't do letters.
I am creating a sign that says Killer Carnival.
I've never worked on letters before, so it's a little challenging for me.
I must, must be the most beautiful showcase we've ever done.
It will. It will. I believe in us.
Teams!
the judges have one final terrifying twist and We've saved
the best or worst for last Each
team must add a fully playable carnival game to your showpiece
With clever mechanics and a creative Halloween twist
Oh, my God. That's a lot to accomplish in a short amount of time, so I suggest
you get going.
All right, let's chat. How are we going to do this?
Have you ever seen that, like, catapult a frog game?
I have these tusks here. What if we have ring toss on the tusks? That's genius,
actually. Is this wheel going to move?
Yes. Yeah, we're turning. Yes, of course.
So we're going to make sugar bulbs on this Ferris wheel, right?
That's the plan, like the light of the Ferris wheel.
What if we had the judges compete and they can throw a ball and see how many
lights they can break?
Oh!
OK, I'm pulling. I'm about to pull, guys. All right.
How big the Ferris wheel is, 100% of chocolate.
It's really important to spread the chocolate evenly.
If the chocolate is too thin, it might break.
I have my template, so I have to cut every single detail off the Ferris
wheel. I cut the fairy wheels with a toothpick over here. That's going to be
easier. I really need this fairy wheel to don't break because I think my fairy
wheel break today, I'm going to hear this for the rest of my life. You see, I
told you to do so, blah, blah, blah.
So pressure is on, but I take the challenge.
Okay, looks like we have a chocolate fairy wheel over here.
That looks beautiful.
All right, I'm going to school up the school guys.
Okay, guys.
It's going to be really terrifying.
If you've got one last trick, it could mean a $30,000 treat.
Four hours left.
We are two hours in. How are you feeling?
We need to push.
We need to push.
I never thought I would be in a Halloween Wars finale again.
I hoped that I could make it here, and the fact that we have is so
exhilarating. Mike and Kristoff, they're like... My brothers, they literally are
my family.
I am trying to get this space to be really terrifying, like he's kind of in
the middle of a scream.
I believe that Mike and Christoph would do anything for me, and I would do
anything for them. And at the end of the day, that kind of loyalty and teamwork
is just priceless.
So the number one advantage you could possibly have is that kind of connection
with your team.
I'm going to cry.
I want to get the ears covered.
Kristen, how big do you think that tusk, the center, is going to come to a sharp
point? Yeah.
Okay, so I'm going to give you about a two-inch hole. Okay. For the inside of
the ring. Sound good? Yep, sounds good. All right, cool.
Ring toss.
And it'll be throwing rings at our elephant's tusks. I want it at a pumpkin
so it's nice and slippery.
You know, carnival games are rigged. So is mine.
You ready?
Yeah.
Do we need Reba?
No. Are you there?
You got it, Reba? Yeah.
Okay, right there.
Okay.
Thanks for your help.
I'm just shaping these rings right now to get a very nice, quick shape so that
I can move on and finish working on those legs because those legs need a lot
of work.
Yeah, they do.
I'm a little nervous right now.
Because feeling a little bit behind and to get the shape of the body right and
make it look good and seamless, it's kind of tough.
That's what we all knew we were getting into, I guess, huh?
Yeah.
I'm honored to work with Tater. I'm honored to work with Kristen again. And
now we have a chance for the $30,000.
I promised my daughter when she turned 13 that I'd take her to the Philippines.
So that is actually going to be what I do with this money, to be honest.
Really?
It's such a bonding trip.
Need that money, baby, money.
I'm just making my rice cereal treat head and then I'm going to put modeling
chocolate on it so that way I can have it suspended forward so she's looking
down but still looking, making eye contact with the judges, making it
creepy. Hungry smash. And it won't fall off because it's nice and light.
Since it's the finale, we really just wanted to do a piece that we would
enjoy. Yes, we're listening to the judges. We're trying to make sure we
bring color. But at the end of the day, we're just going to be able to do a few
little things that maybe some of the other teams just aren't able to do as
well. We're making the most of our team skills.
Oh my God, that's creepy.
Well, it's meant to be creepy.
So much sugar work.
For this piece, I'm contributing a lot of different elements as far as the
scene. I've pushed myself to go bigger and better constantly with my sugar
work. And I think the judges are really noticing how much work I'm putting into
everything. So I have my little candle here. We're going to soften the edges a
little bit so it looks like it's dripping.
Sugar work lends itself really, really well to kind of glass-looking things.
I have to do this massive crystal ball.
And I've never blown anything this big before.
I know it's risky because it's big.
I try it. What do I have to lose, right? $30,000?
I have to very slowly blow this crystal ball, and I have to get it to this
really, really big size, because literally the focal point of our piece,
it's right in front of our fortune teller.
So I have to do it really slowly and surely, constantly rolling it and making
sure that I'm blowing in the right areas, no hot spots.
One wrong move, and I've completely shattered this crystal ball, along with
my chances of winning Halloween Wars.
Is this big enough? Can I just do this size?
No, a little bit bigger.
Heart is like racing right now. The trick is to just keep going and going
and going and going and going.
Somehow it's working.
I think we're going to have a ball.
After I finally get this size ball, I have to cut it off, which is very hard,
especially since it's so fragile.
So I have to be very delicate to cut this off and make sure I don't break it.
Do you ever have that moment in your life where it's like, I did it. I'm so
happy.
You ever have that?
Yeah, normally then something happens and I break it. Oh, okay.
Ta-da! I freaking did it! What do you see when you look into it?
Victory! Ah!
It just shows that I know what I'm doing when I really put my mind to it.
Which killer carnival will crush the competition?
Three hours left.
The elephant's looking fabulous, but we just have to get all the stuff.
To put on the elephant now. Yeah, for sure. I mean, if we just quit at the
eyes right there, we'd be winners.
But don't. Just got to finish strong.
Keep pushing. We got this. Keep pushing. Keep pushing.
We've been doing this, working together as a team.
We can't stop now until we have that money.
I'm trusting in you.
Taking on the bulk of the elephant is a lot of pressure.
It feels like if I don't deliver, then the entire team can't succeed.
Time just flies when you're having fun and when you're stressed and trying to
win $30,000. I just want to bury my competition in this cemetery.
The howlers have this elephant coming to life. It's getting so big. Another giant
animal from the howlers.
When they first started off, they were so good about presenting a character
that looked like it was coming off the board. And then I think in the past few
challenges, they kind of resorted back to static presentation.
So I really hope that this elephant's going to come to life and look like it's
going to charge at us. I agree. Hopefully there's some more life to
that. There's a lot more work to do, especially since we decided to go so
big. Can I borrow your torch for two seconds? Thank you.
I'm going in with a little torch because heating up the modeling chocolate
sometimes helps smooth it out a little bit.
Are you okay?
It's on fire.
Are you spraying that?
Oh my God. I didn't know you were spraying anything, Tater. Sorry. Are you
okay? Are you okay? Yeah.
Yep. Yeah.
I'm so sorry. I didn't know you were spraying anything. It's okay.
I'm sorry.
If you're not okay, let us know. I have no idea.
Let me look at you.
You're okay. You're good.
You're good. Your beard is still intact.
Okay. Take a minute. Just walk away from it.
I can't even think straight right now.
I gotta take a minute.
I feel really bad.
You need a minute?
No, I don't have time. Yeah, your time.
Tater's pretty shaken and I feel terrible. I've never seen him shaken
before. I'm just feeling like the pressure of this competition, the amount
of work that I have to do, the fact that I almost destroyed our cake and that
Tater might be hurt. I don't, I don't know how I'm going to do this.
I need to start covering the tents and the clown pretty soon here. We need to
get the chocolate ferris wheel assembled and painted gold.
You got to get the face sculpted. We got to put in all of our special effects and
lights. Need to finish my bulbs.
We just got to stay consistent.
We're working fast, but not sloppy.
Make it really clean.
I'm moving as fast as I can. In the back of that tunnel, I'm creating a face.
which is something that I'm more comfortable with, more known for, are my
faces. It's going to be tough to get it done, but I'm probably going to have to
just learn how to go a little faster than I normally do.
You know, this is the last opportunity that we have to show everybody what we
can do. So pushing, you know, the scale of it a little bit and the complexity of
it, bringing the story to the front of what we're doing, and then letting those
details tell the story, that's our goal.
Your best work, Mike.
I don't know.
Your best work on the show, on the pumpkin?
I think so.
Yes.
We have got some amazing show pieces coming to life. Let's just talk about
right here with Team Gould, Killer Carnival, and this carving that Mike's
doing. What I'm concerned about is that that is a really thick slab of pumpkin,
and I know it's going to go into that opening section of the big tent, and we
have a face coming through.
If that face is not lit properly or if it's set too far back, we'll lose all
the details.
Think it's okay this far back?
Yeah, that's good You think it's not too far back? No, that's right where I
wanted it to be and then the smokes gonna go through his teeth The trophy
goes to the team with the best big top of terror two hours.
I Think I'm back and I'm ready to do this. Sorry, let's just finish strong
and let's get this one under our belt Let's just be a little more careful with
this now without her with a torch.
I'm not giving up off a little fire We got this, homie. You hear me?
Yep, we do. Hey, we're good.
Don't worry about it.
I mean, if you want to be a memorable Halloween Wars character, all you have
to do is start a giant fire on TV. Hey, you're a badass. You understand?
I'm really happy with how this is coming out.
Just keep going.
Yeah.
Let's win this thing.
I'm tired of making it so far and not taking the prize.
So I'm going to make the peanut brittle now, and it's my family peanut brittle
recipe. So today for our tasting element, I'm going to be making a freak
show funnel cake.
It's going to consist of a funnel cake bowl and then a mascarpone cream and
also some peanut brittle dust, peanut brittle and a raspberry chipotle sauce.
And you got to have chocolate as well. So a little bit of chocolate drizzle.
I'm using a wet sugar so that it's hydrated and it's hydrated with the corn
syrup. My grandmother did this, so this is what I do.
At the same time, while the brittle's going, I'm going to start with the
raspberry sauce to go with it.
I've noticed over the past few challenges that people have tried to add
in some spicy elements to their tastings, and they haven't really hit
the mark. So this time, I'm going for the punch, and I am going to be using
habanero. Tater, should I just be like, the whole pepper?
I would say split it, at least.
I'm writing a fine balance here, but we're going up against two amazing
teams. So this is going to be truly the battle of all battles.
It is Halloween Wars, so it should be spicy.
So when we look at the Howlers, what are some things that are going to be their
strengths and what are some of the things that are their weaknesses?
Their strength for sure is their speed.
The last few challenges, we have seen them not be as complete with their
finish. And they know that they're going up against Team Gold.
their masters at finish, and the Fright Squad, who they know how to pack in all
of the details.
If they want to win this, they're going to have to really hone in those textures
and the final details that take it from really cool piece to really perfect
piece. We got a lot to do.
The judges want to see the spookiest show of the year. One hour.
Guys, we're going to have to speed it up.
OK, here, let me take over striping.
Are you ready to do the first row? Yes.
Okay, let me finish these real quick. You can bring it on over if you want.
This ferris wheel is so big that if it's breaking, there is absolutely zero time
to put another ferris wheel.
We're not going to have time.
It's... Yeah, it's stressful. Let's go, let's go, let's go.
Faster, faster, faster, faster.
Hey, this is not wood, okay?
Mike? Yeah, I know.
Oh, gosh, be careful.
If they break the Ferris wheel and it collapses, we're just screwed.
Okay, we have to move it forward, okay?
Hold it tight. That's not done.
Okay.
Hold it still, Christoph. You got it?
Ah, it's perfect.
C'est bon. That's enough. Sweet, it's enough. Okay, it's enough. Okay.
I'm going to go in and put a base layer of gray.
Mm-hmm.
All right, we're going with these two.
I would...
Can you tilt one this way?
Just so it's a bit more dynamic.
Judges, less than 30 minutes to go.
And I think in 30 minutes, we're going to a carnival or three.
They all feel so different, right? The Howlers has a really larger-than-life
animal. Team Gould has this very creative kind of fantasy tent.
And Fright Squad, they're going with details and atmosphere.
Nobody is out there finishing touches.
These are all finale-worthy pieces, that's for sure.
Oh, boy.
We got a lot to do. We have a lot left to do.
Not enough time.
I'm just trying to knock out as many of these as possible because we have so
many lights going on.
So I'm making these daikon lights, and the way you make them is you use a melon
baller, and you get a nice, perfect sphere.
With daikon, it's got a lot of moisture in it, so you could literally, even how
thick this is, you could see the light shine right through it.
So when I put a light behind it, it's going to pop.
There is no next challenge. This is the finale. We're trying to bring everything
we got.
You guys, I really don't think these lights are going to cut it.
I think we should scrap it. What's that?
I don't think these lights are going to cut it. What's wrong with them?
Like, what do you not like?
Tater.
You don't think, you think that looks good? The wire? Yeah.
Your daikon looks great. If you're okay with that, then I'll continue on.
We've come this far in the competition and we know that the other teams are
going to be pulling out pristine showpieces and I don't want to get up
there with something that's less than perfect.
As a pivot for the string looking bad, would you be okay as putting flags there
instead? I don't care. That's fine. Are you sure? Flags work. Okay, let's do
that. Thank you.
20 minutes!
Guy with the white round.
Donovan, hold on.
It's like the last 20 minutes and these moments are the most stressful and this
is really where it either makes or break you as a team.
Just mind her arm.
Thank you. Ouch.
If you don't gel well together, this can be a time when like arguments break out
and there's fights.
So this is like do or die time.
Is she Flandeth properly?
Yeah, there she is.
Now she is.
Gosh, she's scary.
With Fright Squad, I think that their character is definitely the smallest
that we see here tonight. But there's so many great details.
This is just come forward, maybe.
Are her elbows hitting?
Yeah, she's like touching the wood here. She needs to go that way.
This is the finale.
And the judges have mentioned, you know, finesse a lot. So I don't want to just
throw something together.
It's not going to fit because she'll hit it.
They're still finishing everything, and nobody is fully finished.
We're trying to get this light base to get a light inside of this. We're doing
last-minute surgery.
We want to put lights in our crystal ball, and the lights that we have are
just too high, and it's pushing the ball up and kind of in the way of the fortune
teller. I have to cut a bigger hole to see if I could put this inside the ball.
This is literally the focal point of our piece. It's right in front of our
fortune teller.
Perfect. It should be good.
Okay.
Oh, this is not going to go anywhere.
Okay. That should be good.
Final 10 minutes left.
Let's go, let's go, let's go.
Got to get everything covered. Nothing's showing. No lights.
There isn't one bad showpiece.
They are not going to make it easy for us.
You just keep airbrushing.
Oh, I will.
The lights aren't looking good, and so we have these awesome poles, and I think
they look great even with nothing on them.
But I visually want them to make sense, so I'm just going to sheet some modeling
chocolate and make some flags.
I really want to pivot.
It looks not very professional.
It needs a wave in it or something.
I can tell that there's some tension, but I just think it's really important,
and I need to go with my gut and do what I think is best for our team. It's
looking great, guys.
We got this. I think that they're going to look good, but the time is so tight.
It's a matter of minutes that I have to do this, and if this doesn't work, then
it's on me.
Two minutes, we got this. Two minutes, we got this.
Torch the base. Torch the bottom. Yep, I am.
Lilith, work your magic with that airbrush.
One minute.
Last minute looks, last minute looks.
Be careful, huh?
Be careful, be careful, be careful.
I'm just trying not to break anything.
seconds the tusks the tusks need to be sprayed i'm like are you going you want
pearl oh ten nine eight seven six
five four three two one that's it
oh my
gosh
We've been through so much as a team. There's just been so much pressure.
But we crossed the finish line together.
This was like experience of a lifetime.
We have to win this.
Team Gould, tell us about your killer carnival showpiece.
So this abandoned carnival has been taken over by an evil entity who lures
you in with beautiful lights and playful games. But you're not playing for
prizes. You're playing for your soul.
This is so creepy.
There's so much story here. There's so much depth here.
You can just keep looking and keep finding things.
The nuance that it took to create the lettering for Killer Carnival does not
go missed on either one of us. And that's pumpkin, which is wild to me.
And this is such a gigantic chocolate Ferris wheel in the back. And on top of
that, extremely fragile sugar work, and you're spinning it around. You're nuts.
Stunning piece.
Thank you.
I was really worried about that face inside, that it was going to be lost,
but you understood the lighting, and it actually makes this even creepier
because, you know, when you go to, like, a fun house, you're just so terrified
about what's inside, and that is luring us in.
Tell us about your carnival-inspired tasting element.
So today, our tasting element is an inspiration from a candy apple. It is
composed of spiced cream, caramelized apple, and the spiced cake topped with
pecan gianduja.
The cinnamon.
So strong.
I think the cinnamon is just reading super, super loud.
It's like the first thing I taste is the cinnamon.
We came here and we did everything that we could to get all the way to the end.
And I definitely don't want to lose just because of the tasting element.
And I would prefer to taste the apple. I would prefer to taste the cream part
before the cinnamon.
I would leave that as like a lingering note. And right now it's like an extreme
high note.
So what carnival game are we playing today?
You're going to take one of our tricks and throw whoever has the most broken
wins.
Challenge accepted.
Here we go.
Nice.
Andrew.
That was fun.
I love any opportunity to prove that I am the athlete of this season.
Team Gold, well done. Thank you so much. Thank you.
Howlers, tell us about your killer carnival showpiece.
For the killer carnival, we made an enormous circus elephant who's coming to
steal your soul.
You should be so proud of yourselves. This is an amazingly beautiful piece.
Really seamless transition between your mediums there. Because you've done such
a great job matching those shades, it's really hard to tell where the cake
begins or where the pumpkin ends.
But the tusks feel a little bit farther down than where I feel like they should.
I feel like they should be higher up on the face.
Very impressed with your pivot. I know that you struggled with your lights and
weren't able to get them on, but the flags, they really frame your elephant
nicely. And with that one leg, just that one leg lifted off the platform, I can
see that it's in motion. So really nice detail there.
Tell us about your carnival-inspired dessert.
Well, what you have there is a freak show funnel cake.
The base or the bowl is actually a funnel cake bowl, and then inside there
is peanut brittle dust with a mascarpone cream on top, and then a raspberry with
a slight habanero kick to it, and a little bit of chocolate, and then more
peanut brittle. Oh. What was that kick you said was in here? Habanero. Oh, I
just got it.
This is so good.
The funnel cake is fried perfectly because it's airy.
but it has the crisp all around and the habanero kick.
It's so subtle.
I didn't get subtle from that heat at all.
Wow, I felt PTSD just now.
I got that kick pretty hard. No notes on this dessert. Delightful. Super
delicious. Thank you. What carnival game are we playing? Welcome to our circus,
where the price of admission might be your soul.
Play our ring-toss game and hit the tusks.
And you may save your souls.
Shemin, ladies first.
I think at the line. Definitely at the line. Right at the line.
Oh.
Nope. Your technique was so wrong.
Let me show you how it's done. I'll just give you two at once. Thank you.
Mm-hmm.
Ready?
Wait, I got it. I got it.
God darn it. Andrew, get the... Just sit right here.
And with this touch.
Woo!
You made it.
I love ring toss so much, and I have lost so much money playing ring toss, so
I'm glad to have redeemed myself in front of the whole world.
Successful game.
Howlers, thank you so much. Great job.
Good job.
Bright Squad, let's talk about your killer carnival showpiece.
Esmeralda, the fortune teller of our carnival, spent too much time peering
into the dark side and found herself attached to a dark spirit.
And now, lately, her fortunes have ended with a tragic ending.
This color work and the color palette is absolutely gorgeous.
You leveled up the sophistication on your coloring on this.
It's aged.
It's dark.
I love all the details that you got in here.
I thought, Jonathan, you wasted your time on too much sugar because I saw how
much sugar you had. Or that it was just going to be this cluster. And you really
did a great job. Your interior design is great.
There's so much witchery going on here. I think my very favorite thing are those
legs in that table.
It's so beautiful.
Couldn't tell by looking at her what she was. I wasn't quite clear what the
character is, but the details are so clean. This is probably the most
cohesive and the cleanest showpiece that you've created yet.
Thank you.
Tell us about your carnival-inspired treat. My carnival-inspired treat was a
chocolate-covered frozen banana.
So I went with a banana semi-freddo and a chocolate cake with a caramelized
hazelnut center and then a chocolate crunch tell.
This tastes expensive.
I would never expect to find something so refined as a semifreddo at a carnival
because semifreddo means half cold, right? So it can't be frozen all the
way. You need it to be smooth. You need it to be silky. And your banana
semifreddo is definitely both of those things, silky and smooth.
It's a powerful crunch.
And putting a crunch in the middle of all of this cold, sweet creaminess, it
can be difficult to do.
But you really pulled it off. Beautiful piece.
Thank you so much.
Fright Squad, what carnival game are we getting into today?
So you are going to be playing Frog Flinger.
And as you can see, we've got a bunch of gelatin frogs ready as our ammo to hit
as many glass bottles as possible on the shelf.
Oh, I got this.
Yeah, but are the gelatin frogs a match for the sugar work, though?
Well, I guess we'll find out.
One, two, three.
I hit her. All right, let me show you how it's done. You go against him and I
quit. Yeah, I got it. Okay.
Got it.
Yeah, we both hit him. I got it, yes.
That's right. Did you get one?
We both did. That game was so fun.
Fright Squad, great job.
You should be very proud of yourselves. Congratulations.
Fright Squad, Team Gould and the Howlers.
The judges demanded your very best in this final challenge, and you all
delivered. The season's been a wild ride, and it all comes down to this
point right here.
Tonight, legends have been forged in sugar, pumpkin, and cake.
But only one team can win the title.
