hey what's up guys it's Ivan and in this video I'm going to show you how to use Camtasia 2025 so
that by the end of this video you're going to know how to use it like a pro i've been using Camtasia
for about 5 years now and I love it it's one of the easiest video editors out there especially
compared to more complex tools like Adobe Premiere which have a much higher learning curve my goal
here is to walk you through the most important features where to find everything and how to
actually use the tools that matter there are some very niches specific features that I might
not cover but I'll show you everything you need to get up and running quickly and if you want to try
Camtasia for yourself I do give you a 10% discount if you use my link at go.ivanmana.com/techsmith
that said let's get straight into it and we're going to be using this video here that I recorded
a while ago on my channel so I'm going to first show you how to use this timeline how to play
the video how to cut delete everything like that and then we're going to go from top to bottom if
you've used Camtasia before maybe Camtasia 2024 I'm also going to go over some of the new features
in 2025 which are super super cool they've added a lot of AI capability which makes it super super
easy and efficient to do certain things which I will show you what let me know in the comments if
you want me to go over anything specific or help explain anything and I will do the best I can to
respond to the comments so let's get into it here we have the video you can click properties here to
make the video bigger or to see all the properties associated with this specific piece of content
so for example in this case if I click on video you're going to see all these different options
here that you have for the rotation position width so on so forth you can control the mouse here as
well so you can change the mouse make it any of these options here you can make it bigger as well
here you can see the mouse or you can just reset it to what it was which was 225 you have opacity
here you have the cursor path which allows you to edit the mouse cursor and then here I've added
already some of the things for this video like cursor highlight left click ring so on so forth
and then over here you can make the video fit or you can zoom in you can also use the scroll on
the mouse to scroll down to zoom out and scroll up to zoom in and then if you hold space you can also
drag and select which part of the video you want to see so we're going to go back to fit here you
have some additional settings this is corner pin mode so this allows you to what they call create
3D effects something like this i've never used it i'm just going to control Z to undo i'm also
going to be going over some of the shortcuts here to speed up the process for you guys to edit your
videos you can use this little hand icon to move around like I said and then you can use this to
crop the video so I sometimes do this to crop my face here my webcam to make it you know fit better
so you can do that again I'm just going to undo keep everything as it was and let's just fit this
right here the other cool thing about Camtasia that I really like is that you can record so I
can't record now because I'm already recording using Camtasia but what you'll be able to do
is actually record the computer screen and record your face record your webcam here which is what I
have which is super awesome and then you can shift between editing this part here and editing just
this specific webcam and you can drag it anywhere so these tools are not available with tools like
Adobe Premiere where you need to use a third-party tool to record the video and then upload it into
Premiere and then you also need two separate upload files right one for the screen and one
for the webcam if this is what you're going for so Camtasia allows you to do all of this all in one
super super simple and convenient so let's go over the timeline here and how to use this so it's all
pretty straightforward so over here you can drag where you want to see the video and these parts
here so I'm going to zoom into this timeline here by holding control and scrolling up on my mouse
and then it's going to zoom in right to this part and then if I want to select any specific area I
can select it like this with these little things on the side the red and the green i am using
Windows currently so it might look a little bit different for you if you're using a Mac but pretty
much the same and then I have this area selected and then if I rightclick this I have these options
i can delete ripple delete i can add additional time i can deselect it i can silence audio restore
audio so if I want to delete this part I just click delete and this whole section is going to
be gone okay let's undo that real quick now the difference between delete and ripple delete is
that ripple delete deletes this content but then it also stitches it together so if I click ripple
delete here you're going to see that now it's going to delete it and then automatically move
it together and stitch it you can see if we zoom in this little stitch line right over there right
so that just deletes everything if you want to add more space if you think you need to add something
in between this area you can just rightclick here on this track and you can say insert time and now
it's just going to move everything over and then leave you space to add whatever you want here so
that's how that works and then if we just select this again pretty straightforward you can silence
audio shift S is the shortcut or restore audio shift R so this is just very useful if you have
some background noise you want to remove or some things that you said that you just don't want to
have anymore while keeping everything you show on the screen you can also copy this part so if
I want to copy this specific section I can just click copy and then click here and say paste and
it's going to just duplicate this part that I selected over here as well so this is one
of the examples of the use case scenarios that you might not need to do everywhere but still
something good to know just in case so that's pretty much it for the selection tool you can
also export this specific section or you can save it to your library which I will get into shortly
once we head over into these options over here but that's pretty much it for these options now
to navigate here what I do is like I said I hold control and then I scroll down on my mouse to zoom
out and control and scroll up to zoom in and then if you want to move from left to right you hold
shift instead of control so shift up is going to move to the left and shift down is going to move
to the right so if you're doing edits for your video let's say you make an edit here and then
you start playing the video again you're going to click play you can click shift mouse scroll
down and then it's just going to move like this and then you just keep going like this so that's
how I do it that's how I edit my videos like that and then if I need to zoom out I come over here i
shift and go to the right and then come here for example or I zoom out more and I say "Okay I need
to go to this part over here." And then I'm going to zoom in by holding control and scroll wheel up
now there are some important controls you should know which aren't easily accessible via buttons
so you do need to use shortcuts and let me just make this video a little smaller by the way so
we have a little more space here and if you want to go frame by frame let's suppose you
have something very detailed that might have some sensitive information on the page for example or
on the screen and you want to go frame by frame you have to click on the period and you will go
to the right now this is on Windows on the Mac it might be a bit different so I'm going to attach
some information what it is on the Mac but on the Windows it's going to be the period and you
will go frame by frame you can see here it goes frame by frame and if I just hold it it's going
to go faster and then if you hold the comma it's going to go to the left frame by frame okay so
this is something that will be incredibly useful to you guys once you start editing frame by frame
obviously depending on how detailed your content is or you can do it manually over here which of
course is much more tedious and annoying here you have the play button and then here you have the
options to go to the next media so in this case I already have some media files here i have one
here and one here so if we click next it's going to take me to the next one and if we click back
it's going to take me to the previous one it does have the shortcuts here you can see alt comma and
for the next one alt period but I really don't use these i never use these so I don't bother learning
the shortcut for that and then here also you can control where you want to go but of course it's
easier to just for me personally to just select it and drag where I want to take it now another
important thing that is not available here as a button is the fastforward and the go backward
options these ones are not available so let me see if I can quickly silence the audio here for
now i'm going to silence it and then we can just writeclick and restore audio once we're ready to
hear the sound but if you want to fast forward which I have to do sometimes if I don't want to
listen to the same video over and over again you can click play and then you can click L and as you
can see right over here it says 1.5 speed right so that's the speed at which this is going right
now if you click L again it goes at two again 3 4 6 and 8 that's the maximum and now the video is
going faster and faster right well at eight times the speed so if there's something specific you're
looking for and you want to fast forward the video that's how you would do it you could also go
backwards so if you click on J as you can see here now it's minus one so now it's going backwards j
again and again up to minus 8 so if you want to go backwards for some reason I never had to use
this but that's how you would do that and then if you click K it just goes back to one speed and it
pauses the video so J KKL are going to be your keyboard shortcuts to fast forward fast backward
and stay in place again okay so that's pretty much it for the controls here now let's talk about the
tracks and some of these other options here as well so the tracks here are this default size if
you want to make them bigger you can just click that and make it bigger so if we come over here
and we restore the audio sometimes what happens is if I need to look at the audio the specific audio
chart it's much easier if I make this bigger like that as opposed to if it's smaller right like if
it's smaller if it's the default notice I can't see anything here for example I'm going to zoom
in i'm going to use my shortcuts right shift mouse scroll down to go to the right and as
you can see here I'm zoomed in all the way this is the maximum that I'm zoomed in which you can
control over here by the way i don't see anything here right but if I make this track bigger now you
can see there's some sound here right and this is if you want to remove the sound and work with the
sound on your video you can now come in here and shift S to silence the audio or shift R to remove
it and so that's how you control the track size here you can also rightclick it and you can say
here minimize track and it's going to make it as small as possible or you can make it maximum as
tall as possible okay but I usually just manually adjust it if I need to and I usually keep it at
this default perfect size for me here now if you rightclick this here you also have some options
you can remove all empty tracks so in this case we have track four which let's zoom out over here
we see track four is empty so we can right click here and we can say remove all empty tracks and
that's just going to get rid of that four over there we can right click again you can delete
a specific track by clicking here but in this case it's going to give a warning it's going to say hey
there's some media on it don't delete it so we're not going to touch it let's see what other options
we have here we can insert a track above we can insert a track below pretty straightforward stuff
we can move the track if we want to move it to a different spot to a different position but there's
no need for that we can rename it so you can say this is the for example animations or let's say
boxes or something like that however you want to call it can also rightclick and yeah that's pretty
much it you have lock track and enable magnetic track so let me show you what those are they are
these options right here so we don't have to click on them here we can just select them over here so
let me show you what those do so for example if we come over here and I'm going to rightclick
here and say ripple delete or Ctrl backspace actually let me just delete it here sorry i'm
just going to click the delete button to delete this part here and then if you click on this eye
icon over here this track will no longer be visible so as you can see here if we enable it
this track is my webcam right over here but if we click on this little eye icon over here it's just
going to disable that track okay now if we click on this magnet option over here then whenever you
delete it will not leave any empty spaces so if we click on this option here it's going to boom
just move that track immediately right over there to the left leaving no empty spaces be careful
with this because sometimes if you cut only for example the webcam and you don't cut anything on
the screen then of course things are going to be misaligned so be very careful with this i don't
use this ever because of this very reason because things have to be aligned especially if you have
different tracks one for audio one for a screen so on so forth so I don't use that but that's what it
is just in case you need it let's undo that and then here you have lock track so lock track will
allow you to still see everything that's going on but not actually edit it so if I decide to
for example come in here and cut this part it will not cut anything on this webcam it's only
going to cut everything here on this side so if I come in here and I say for example ripple delete
here then as you can see here this part will stay untouched because it's locked while this part did
get moved okay so that's how that works that's how all these different options here work let's undo
all the changes let's go back to where we were i'm just going to click Z several times to go back to
where we were and now we are at the same spot I believe so another cool option here is that you
can leave markers so let's suppose you have some parts in the video that you want to go back to and
review or you have an editor that you're working with and you want to give them the time stamp
if you already have this up arrow here then you should be able to add a timeline tracker anywhere
here on the video in this case the time script option is selected so we're going to select that
we're going to say marker and then you'll be able to add a marker anywhere here so you can come in
here and you can say checkpoint number one this is something I want to check and then over here
we want to add checkpoint number two i want to check this part later on as well so that's how
that's going to work and then you can just hide it by clicking that over there and you'll still see
them over here but you'll now know these specific timestamps and then you can alternate between quiz
and transcript and we'll get into transcript later on as well quiz is very niche i haven't used this
either but you can come in here and you can add a little quiz placeholder now this will require you
for this to actually work this will require that you export in an interactive video format so not
a regular MP4 so I'm not going to get into this in this video but if you do have questions about
this and how to use the interactive mode here with Camtasia definitely let me know and I'll
be happy to help so we're just going to go back to transcript and if we going back into quiz actually
let's delete this one right over here we're going to rightclick it here click delete and then go
back to transcript and we should see all these different options here sorry not transcript I
meant marker right there okay so that's how that works and yeah that's pretty much it you have the
undo option over here you have the cut you have the copy you have the paste you have the split
so the split is basically if you let's remove that if you select for example these options
here if you click S or you rightclick this line here and you click on split all then it's going
to split these two parts right over here and now you have two separate files right that you can
move so now you can select it and you can just come in here and move it like that so that's
what that is which is the equivalent of this but again it's a shortcut and then here you have save
an image of the current video frame so this is basically what we talked about where if you just
select this you come in here sorry you click here and you say add timeline selection to library or
export timeline selection as and that is that so I believe I covered everything here in terms of the
timeline and how to use it and how to navigate it again let me know if you have any questions
what I'm telling you here is what I've been using for myself for the past 5 years for various
different video types for educational content like this for just talking head videos for sales videos
but if you have a very specific niche and you want to know if something is doable again let me know
in the comments and I'll be happy to help you so that is all for this timeline now when it comes to
the video also you can rightclick here and you can select project settings and the background
color for the video right now is black so whenever you use transparent effects or fading effects the
background color is going to be black if you want to make it a different color you can come in here
and make it white for example and so now whenever you use transparent effects or anything like that
the color is going to be white you also have the frame rate here you can adjust 60fps and
yeah this is the default width and height you cannot change that here but if you just come
in here and you select for example HD 4K you can see the screen will change i'm going to leave it
at this because these are the dimensions of my computer we can hit apply but you can export in
4K and what happens is sometimes even though my video is in 1980p if I export as 4K it actually
does end up showing up in higher quality in the same quality that I see on my actual computer
screen so there is some benefit in exporting in a higher quality even though your computer doesn't
actually have that so that is it for these let's go over these settings here on the left hand side
here from top to bottom and then we're going to go over some of these important options here at
the top as well so the first option here is the favorites so whenever you like any element that
you're going to add later on as we get to them any visual effects any transitions any parts here you
can favorite them so I notice that I use a lot of fade transitions or barn door transitions and
so I can just favorite them and then over here I'll be able to just come in here and quickly
access everything i used to use a lot of cursor highlight effects a lot of cursor ring effects so
I just save them as favorites and then I'm able to use them anytime and then as you can see here
this mouse has that little highlight effect right makes it easier to spot so that's that
pretty straightforward you can sort by specific parts like if you only want to see the transition
favorites or the cursor effect favorites you can see that here i don't have that many so I just
leave it at all the next part here you have is the media so these are all the recordings so as
you can see here I had some test recordings here done you have the audio files so everything all
the content that you've recorded using Camtasia recordings are going to be here but this will
also include general video or audio files that you import into Camtasia you're going to see them all
right over here as well okay you can choose to make it go like this or other way around however
you want to pretty straightforward now if you come in here Camtasia has some assets they've
added some new assets here as well for Camtasia 2025 some of them are free if you click over here
you have some free assets and then you also have some that you have to pay for for Camtasia premium
assets which has the little icon there you see there it has the little premium icon right there
and you have to pay I believe $200 a year to get access to these different assets that they
have that they give you access to so these are all premium here premium premium you can see but these
are free for example so if I want to come in here and drag this over here I just click on it i drag
it and boom it's right here readily available and we're going to make this fit on the page so
we see the whole thing and that's what that looks like you can come in here see what you like they
have some photos they have channel kits some of the things I like here if you go to See All
I like the buttons here they have if we go back I really liked they had the Can't find it now where
is it oh never mind it's under the library which we'll get into in a second but you have all these
different assets you have access to pre-built for you ready to use you have some music you
can use and then once we zoom in here you can also click on this plus icon right here to see what's
included so there are three media files here right one is this desktop windows which is this one one
is this dock you can click on that and that is going to be this part right here which is just
the background basically and sorry that's the wallpaper that's the dock so if I use my up and
down arrows here I can move it around so that's what that is right that's just that bottom part
just the taskbar so you can see all the elements included if you just click on that little plus
and then within the desktop windows there are even more elements right so here we have the
content area we have the window for this specific element and then if you want to go back to where
you were you just close out of that close out of that and then boom you see now the full big
picture okay so that's how that works you have all these assets if you go over here you have
the library so this is my default library that I use some of the most common elements and effects
that I've been using for example this let me see pop message 2 i come in here and this is going
to be a message that I can come in here and I can change anytime right so let's delete this
one here for simplicity and then over here you can see two things are included one is the pop
sound i've included a pop sound here and the other one is the call out so let's see if you guys can
hear the pop sound here account and you can use your a little laggy but account and you can use
your right so basically I've created this i've added a popup or a pop sound into this call out
i've added them into one and then I saved it as a library so if there's any specific combination
of assets that you like what you do is you combine them by for example selecting them you just select
it like that you rightclick and then you can say group right over here so you're going to group
them and then you can add to library so if I like this part again I can right click it i can add to
library again and then I can give this a name and I can choose the library so my default library
that's what it's called i just called it default but you can create a different library here so you
can come in here and you can just say create new library so you can do a YouTube library a website
library whatever it is you want and then this is what you have and then you can manage library you
can rename it you can export it so if you want to give your library to another Camtasia user you can
just export it and give it to them and then that way they'll have all these assets they also have
the default asset here or the default library here Camtasia 2025 and you have all of these available
options and here's the part that I wanted to show you the channel kit here they have the subscribe
so this is really cool so you can come in here and drag this over here we'll keep the project at 30
fps let's delete this to keep things nice and tidy and if we play this let's remove this sound here
boom you got the nice little subscribe button up and ready for you right and this is mainly
for YouTube I'm assuming or any YouTube related content like this you know this won't apply to
everyone but it's nice that it's ready so if we for example drag it here right in the middle of
my video it's a little bit laggy because I'm recording within the Camtasia itself but yeah
so that's what that looks like and then you can come in here and again you can click on
the plus to see what's included and then you have all these different options so it's going to have
the sound here or what is this which part is this this is the Okay so that's just the button itself
and then you have the bell so that's where the bell comes in right and then the button
here itself and then you can come in here and change the color so that's the border color if
I want to make it green for example now you see it's going to be green okay close out of that
and there you go so that's how you use all these different library assets super super simple so
let's close out of that or let's zoom back out let's delete this and let's keep going so next
we have annotations so these are cool little boxes you can add basically what I have let me see here
i've added this little annotation box let me zoom in like this right and that's basically
what I did i just added one of these or I think I did if we go to all I think I added one of these
something like that and then you come in here and then you just add whatever you want to write your
text here and then you can change the color so that's what I did i went in here and made it red
and then for the text I came in here and made this white right and then you can just make it a little
bigger like that so pretty self-explanatory stuff and then you can just drag it anywhere so super
super easy and then in this case that's what I've done right i've made it like this and then I've
made it so it if you notice here it has the fade in effect which we're going to get into shortly
once we get into visual effects and transitions but that's what I've done here and then I've made
myself a little smaller too which I will show you how to do as well so yeah so that's these
you have different options here you can add arrows you can add different shapes just shapes without
the text you can add blurring effects so this is school blurring or highlight effects so if I
have something sensitive here let's remove that if I don't want to show my campaign author name
let's suppose this is my credit card information or something right i can just come in here i can
drag this onto the screen or drag it onto here and then come in here and select this box and
move it like this and then boom right and then I'm just going to change so as long as it's active as
long as this box is active so I'm going to use now the comma and the period to go back
so we would need to add it over here as well at every specific frame point but just to keep
things simple for this video I'm going to add it you know assuming we're just starting here
or here let's say we're just starting here right and then you can see it goes like this
but normally if let's say you want to blur it out here too then you would just copy this part
you would paste it here and then you would move the blur up over there oops there's no blur there
you would just copy that and then move the blur up right and then you would have to do that for
every single frame so that's how you would do it if you really want to block it out entirely
but in this video we're just going to do it like this and then you can see here it is blurred and
then we're just going to keep going until the screen no longer shows up which is just around
here right about I'm going to use the comma to go back frame by frame period to go forward and then
here it no longer shows up so I'm going to come in here and drag it up to here and now you can see
if we zoom out this whole thing is blurred right doesn't show so that's how that works so you have
all these cool features you have the animated the sketch motion which is really cool so I like these
because it looks more real and you can come in here or it looks more not real but it just looks
more attention grabbing I guess you can change the draw time here and then let's suppose I want
to bring attention to this hey this is important guys right for example I'm going to come in here
you can make it bigger make it smaller and then come in here and drag it like this and then it's
going to look like this boom really cool and then if you think that's too slow or too fast you can
change the draw time make it shorter make it longer you know that's way too long so if we
want to reduce it boom okay so that's how that works and then you have keystroke call outs so as
I was doing I was telling you you know control up you can come in here and just you can say
oops okay yeah so here you just actually do it and the mouse up and down effects aren't being
detected but you just click on whatever button let's say Ctrl D i just click control D and boom
you know easy down here you don't have to look for an image that says control D right so that's how
that works super simple to do so that's these annotations that's how you use them you have
the visual effects here so background removal I believe is one of the new features in 2015 and
they're using AI to detect the background and they're doing an incredible job of doing so so
let's come in here and delete these to keep things nice and clean and let's focus now on
this here right so you have all these different options the video effects you have the filters
play around with them this will depend on what you guys want to do obviously right if we come in
here and drag this here for example it's going to add that effect and then if you select this track
here over here you see it right over here and you can change it around and we're just going to close
out of that so play around with all these effects the one cool thing I do want to show you though
is the background removal so if you come in here and you drag this here it's going to do a pretty
damn good job of removing the background you can see here it's done pretty well so if we zoom out
a little bit or keep it like that you can see here that it's done pretty well the background's
gone right pretty much pretty much gone it's not perfect and if you do want it perfect I recommend
you guys get a green screen and then you just remove the color here with a green screen that's
how that would work but it does a pretty damn good job especially if the webcam is smaller it does a
pretty good job of removing the background here you can see it's gone right pretty good job you
also have the clip speed here so if there's some parts that maybe you're showing your audience and
it's taking a while to do like if you're fixing something and you're saying "Hey like I'm going
to fix this and I'll be right back." What you can do is you can for example let's come in here and
let's split this part i'm going to hit S or you can just rightclick and click split and then come
in here and again oops we're going to select this track here we're going to hit S and then depends
if you want to do it here too actually so let's select everything here let's go back hit S here
back here hit S here and now if we select this we can come in here and drag the clip speed here
okay so we have to deselect it and drag it one by one so we're going to drag it here and then
we can drag it here into the camera as well for example if you want to make it match sometimes
it lags a little bit there you go and now both of them have clip speed and then you can come in here
scroll down and you can see the clip speed here so if you make it two 2x the speed you can see
now this part becomes much faster 2x and then if we come in here you'll see now everything is done
much quicker right so you can play around with it you can make it two three four five I think
the most I've done was eight 8x the speed I think that's the most I've done but yeah that's how you
use the clip speed you have the color adjustments colorize all of these just play around with all
these options okay freeze region this is another thing you don't need to use this visual effect
here if I want to freeze the screen let's suppose over here I want to freeze this let's suppose I
want to freeze this part here i want to freeze it right here i'm going to hold alt and I'm going to
drag my mouse to the very end or to wherever you want it to be and then here you can see there's a
little line here like a little stitch line right but this part is now going to be frozen like that
so that's how you can freeze the screen okay if you want to freeze it on a specific element and
yeah so that's how that works let's undo some of the changes that looks good okay so that's
the visual effects so let's go into transitions transitions behaviors and animations are fairly
similar so over here under transitions you have all these different effects you guys can play
around with them really cool that's where I got the fade effect from right so if you add let's
come in here and let's add a little random box over here for fun from a different color
let's make it black so it's easier to detect let's suppose I want this box to appear in a certain way
so we're going to select the box we're going to go into the transitions and then you can choose how
you want to do it maybe you want to do a wheel and then you just drag that transition into that and
then you can see how it's going to be added like that let's drag it a little bit more and then what
you can do is you can select it select that effect and then just change whatever you want so here you
have all the options as well so here you have the fades that's the fade that I've been using so just
a regular fade right it's just going to fade you can make it shorter or longer in duration so you
can come in here and you can adjust this you can make it 12 frames rather than 30 like that
and then don't forget to do that there too on the other side and then yeah you can just do whatever
animation you want or whatever transition you want here you have blinds so play around with
that make it a little longer make it 1.12 boom blinds like that right so that's how that works
pretty straightforward you have animations here so this is the zoom effect right the zoom and pan and
the animations as well for that so smart focus motion path scale to fit restore custom so this
is easily done with keyboard shortcuts as well so let's remove this and let's suppose in this
case we want to zoom into a specific part on the screen and we want to make me smaller here so we
want to keep me big but in this specific section we want to make me smaller so I'm going to select
this part here and I'm going to use the command shift A and that's going to insert this animation
okay and then you can come in here and make the changes right here so we want to make me smaller
i'm just going to select myself over here and just make me smaller so shift A is the command and then
you can see here it just moves me like that right which is the same thing here as you have under
animations as well for that the option scale down or scale up it's the same thing if you drag any of
these here for example it's going to add the same arrow and then you just choose how you want to do
it right so it's the same thing but I find it much easier to just do with shift A and yeah that's how
that works and then if you want to let's say I'm talking about this part I want to zoom in here i'm
going to select this screen now i'm going to go into zoom and pan and I'm going to click shift A
and then I'm going to make this for example actual size and then I can move to wherever I want to so
I want to show this part right here for instance right and then notice how when you do that it does
it for both parts here so if you want to keep yourself on screen you just have to delete that
other arrow so that the webcam stays then you come in here and boom it zooms in right and then if
you want to make it a little longer if you want to make it last a little longer you just go like that
and then boom right that's basically how it works that's how you get the zoom in pan options
right here done okay so that's it that's it for the animations you have behaviors
over here which are similar to transitions very very similar so you have the sliding effect or
let me see if there's the fade one yeah here's the fade effect let me show you the difference
between the two so let's add a little box here and let's remove these animations there okay so
here we have a box let me show you the difference between the two this a little bigger so if we go
into transitions and we add a fade effect here or let's say slide in it's going to be better
so if we do slide left for this one it's going to the box itself is going to slide right as opposed
to if you use the animation or sorry the behavior slide in then this is going to move the box the
whole box from outside of the screen okay so the difference is that the transitions mainly focuses
on the media file itself whereas the behavior focuses on the media file as it pertains to
the whole video here right if that makes sense so over here we did the slide in and you can see it
slides in like that now what you could also do you have the options you can choose the directions you
want to make it slide from the right you can do so and then notice here how it fades in and out
during right so you click on during and then you just say none i don't want any animation there or
any behavior and then boom and then here at the end if you want to make it go the other way you
say direction go left and boom so that's the behavior right so depending on how you want
to do it whether you want to make the box itself show up here or whether you want to make it kind
of slide in from the direction from outside of the video that's what you would use behaviors
or transitions so that's that we have cursor effects which I have over here if we zoom in
on the cursor let's make myself smaller here and let's zoom in i'm going to scroll up with my mouse
cursor and over here you can see that I've already added that effect so if I select this track over
here and I come over here and select this mouse icon option here and I scroll down you can see
I have the cursor highlight and the leftclick rings effect already added right so that makes
it easier to track the mouse now the mouse might be hard to track so I'm going to make it a little
bigger let's say 450 and now you can see the mouse itself is bigger and then if I want to make this
cursor highlight a little bigger I can do that as well so we can just remove this let me show
you how to do it if you just for example come in here and add any effect here highlight you just
come in here you drag it over there and then you select the color and then you change the opacity
the size okay so anything you want you simply drag it over into here you have the leftclick
effect so when somebody leftclicks it's going to add one of these options so I had rings enabled
that's why you can see here it's a favorite and by the way here's how you can favorite anything
so if you like these rings or you like the burst you just click favorite and that's going to show
up in your favorites and you have a right click so if you right click it's going to have a different
effect so you can do that all here whatever you like you just come in here and just drag it over
into the track and that's it so let's undo it i'm going to Ctrl Z to make it back the way it
was which I believe was something like that there you go and that's it for the cursor effects pretty
straightforward if we go into captions this is another cool addition that they've added so if
you go into closed captions this is what they used to have where you would come in here and
you would just be able to add the captions for your video so hey it's me let's say you add that
and then it's just going to show up like that now they've added with Camtasia 2025 this new
dynamic option which is really cool so instead of this let me click here and click delete they will
automatically add the captions kind of like with YouTube how YouTube has automatic captions so you
can simply come in here and drag whichever one you want here give it some time to populate and then
it's going to automatically generate the captions so you don't actually have to write anything
this is one of the really cool additions here that they have with 2025 and if we just give it a few
moments to load you can see here that this track here is loading right so it's loading the words
what am I going to say and then you'll be able to come in there and change them so I'm going
to give it a few moments here and then once it loads we're going to revisit this again all right
so there you go that's been added and you can see here it's been dynamically added here and now you
can change it you can move it wherever you want to you can move it here and then here are all
the different types that you have so you can come in here and adjust the theme you can adjust the
font over here right which is basically what you have over here you can change the colors
as well however you want to if you want to make it green so be it of course white is better and
that's how you would do it so this will apply only where this part is added so if you scroll
all the way to the end here and you select this track over here scroll all the way in you will be
able to see the exact words now doesn't show up yet so let's give it a few more moments but for
the time being for example let's come in here and let's drag this and make it fit all the way here
all the way like that and so now you should see the automatic captions done for you which
is amazing and then if you click here and you want to be able to adjust some words let's say some of
the words aren't correct you have to zoom in all the way and what that's going to allow you to do
is to actually be able to change the words so you can come in here and it's going to tell you which
word is where so right now it's not done yet it's not done loading yet but what's going to happen
is over here once it is done it's going to say for example that this word here is here and this
word here is and and this word here is your and then if something doesn't match you can come in
here and you can just fix it so instead of your it's actually your not your for example right and
then you hit enter and then that's going to be changed and then instead of add it's actually ad
like a Google ad for example so that's how you would do that again once this actually fully
loads you will be able to once you scroll in all the way you have to scroll in all the way to the
end you will be able to see the specific words and come in there and adjust them but for the
time being you have to do it over here like that so yeah that is it for the caption super super
cool a really cool addition to the 2025 version now you have some additional options here if we
click on more you have audio effects and voice narration so audio effects is really cool they've
added this AI noise removal which is absolutely fantastic it is something that as far as I know
DaVinci Resolve had and used very well because a normal noise removal does not do a good job of
identifying outside sounds and with the AI noise removal it uses AI to determine whether
the sounds belong in the video or not and this works very very well so over here I actually
recorded a video for you guys just to test sample audio hopefully you can hear it with background
noise but then when we use AI noise removal it completely removes that noise super super cool
so let's see if you guys can hear this let's come in here and let's test so you guys can see
the difference hey what's up guys it's Yvon and in this video I want to show you how to use this
Camtasia recording here in 2025 and how to get started that's the background noise right there
so if we come in here and we click on this AI noise removal and drag it over here now you
don't hear the background noise anymore look at that hey what's up guys it's Yvon and in
this video I want to That's a huge difference huge difference before without the AI noise
removal it did not do a good enough job so let's undo this real quick let me show you again the
difference you guys hear that right very very bad and it's able to detect it very very well
and with the AI noise removal
Boom you don't need to do a single thing you just drag it over there and it does the job for you if
you have specific music playing or anything like that you also have the fade in effect the fade out
clip speed audio compression you can also use these options emphasize to make a certain part
louder but the one I use mainly is the AI noise removal super super cool and by the way I didn't
tell you if you select a specific area like if you select this area here and you want to undo
that you just double click anywhere else on the timeline here and it's going to deselect it so
come in here select this boom all right all right one more thing here before we get into the saving
options and things like that if you go to more let's go into voice narration so if you just want
to record your voice here it's using a different mic just the computer you can enter your script
here enter script here and then you can say start voice recording and it's going to record and then
upload that as the audio file onto your file here so an easy way for you to be able to just record
straight from within the app so that's pretty much it for that like I said you can click record and
just record right away and now let's talk about some of these options here at the top so you have
the file obviously where you can save so Ctrl S to save quickly same as with any other software
save as you'll be able to choose your file new project open project straightforward stuff
import export very easy and then you have library so you can import the library that we talked about
or export it to somewhere else so this stuff's pretty straightforward now if we come in here
to edit you have all of these options that we did talk about like the split all the ripple delete
the duplicate right so all these options that we've discussed over here you have them here so
it's the same thing however one of the important things I do want to bring your attention to is if
you go to preferences over here you will notice that if you have autosave enabled every 1 minute
for example as I have here your videos might become very very choppy and laggy now this is
a short video so every 1 minute saving is fine but if your video is over 30 minutes
long I found that when I have autosave enabled every 1 minute the video becomes very laggy and
choppy so I usually set it to 5 or 10 minutes and that way it becomes very very easy to edit
okay so that's one of the things I want to bring your attention to that you should have autosave
enabled absolutely but if you have a long video if you see a choppy video then the reason for
that is because you have autosave enabled to a short duration everything else is fine as is you
can go into timing these are all the defaults for the captions for the images i haven't changed any
of these in my 5 years of Camtasia everything is straightforward here everything works fine
partners I haven't used any of this shortcuts so here are all the different shortcuts that
you have here available with Camtasia some of them that we've discussed like timeline editing
or timeline navigation so if there's any specific thing that you're looking for you can come in here
and just take a look and see what's available like these playback ones they're not available anywhere
other than these shortcuts okay so take a look at these if you want you have project so these
are the default project settings so 1080p not 1980p as I told you before but yeah these are the
settings here the frame rate that's the default settings for your project and then advanced okay
so here's another important thing here is if you have trouble saving files or playing the files
anything like that take a look at your hardware acceleration and make sure your graphics card
is updated and if this doesn't work then you can just select the Microsoft basic render driver or
just the most basic driver that you have and see if that makes a difference so here you can adjust
that graphics card the temporary storage file things like that everything here and then you
can reset Camtasia to factory defaults in case you have any issues so that's what that is you
have modify again these are all the settings that we've discussed that are available now one of the
things I didn't show you let me quickly show you actually that is pretty cool if you add like a
box here for example again or any image anything right you can add an image a box you can come in
here and you can rightclick this and you can add some effects here as well so you can add visual
effects like you can add a background you can add a border you can add anything like that you can
do that here you have filters right so basically some of the features that we saw in these tabs
over here that you can apply specifically to the individual elements so over here if I want to add
a border I'm just going to click border and then over here now you can change the border color so
let's say we want to make it red want to apply thickness right so any element you want you can
rightclick and also adjust the visual effects and filters here so that's that right there so that's
the modify very simple you have view so you can show the canvas ruler if you want you also have
options for timeline you can zoom in zoom out canvas zoom in zoom out so everything that I told
you how to do with the mouse with the shortcuts like if you hold control and use the up and down
mouse scrolls then you'll be able to zoom in and out so same thing just much easier to do than
clicking on modify here or rather view you have export so this is where you'll export the files
right so something to bring to your attention is if you click on file here so I always export
in 4K because the quality ends up actually being crisper and sharper even though I'm only recording
in 1080p and then one thing to bring to your attention is if you go to encoding make sure
the frame rate is what you want it to be when you export and if you start seeing trouble and
problems in your Camtasia file after you export it make sure you have GPU encoding enabled this
saved me because for some reason sometimes when I export the file it ends up looking pretty bad
there are some issues various issues happening sometimes especially for long long long videos
like over an hour over two hours long so make sure if you have such issues you have this enabled or
just have this enabled at the very start and I haven't had issues ever since knock on wood so
that's an option you want to have frame rate audio and yeah you can include watermark here as well
you can come in here you can click options and you'll be able to add a watermark to the video
you can choose the placement as well and the scale want to make it bigger want to make it
smaller and then you can upload your file right over here here and then if we want to move it to
the left we're just going to offset it like that okay so that's what that is help is usually used
for if you have issues with the software and you want to contact support you'll be able to reach
out to their support team and they usually ask you to click on I believe it's technical support
here yeah and then they'll ask you to copy this to clipboard or to launch support tool and give them
the data from your computer so that's what that is here you can also click on about Camtasia and
see what version you're on they will usually ask you for this as well to make sure you're on the
latest version things like that so that's pretty much it that is how you use Camtasia i added
as much detail as I could at least as to what I usually do and what I have been doing in my past
