[Music]

I won't forget that morning not if I

live to be a hundred I counted the men

as they marched out of the yard they'd

hardly slept the week we have the CID

had slept even less for the nightmare

that kept us awake with all the same

nightmare that's why we weren't

surprised when the Commissioner acted up

the conference room for a bit of a talk

he'd talked to us plenty we knew that it

didn't help any to know what was ahead

of us

[Music]

must we have that window open braixen oh

shut it if you want to see for being

enough of a temper without having a

ruddy blast down the back of it Thanks

gentlemen the Commissioner happy in here

[Music]

you see I bought you gentlemen if you

wish to know what able men you are read

any of the works of popular fiction that

glamorize your achievements but don't I

beg of you read the daily papers they

might give you an inferiority complex I

hate to mention it but we are confronted

with a series of the most atrocious

murders since Jack the Ripper and in the

meantime the CID might as well be

playing at she'll hate me for all the

good we've accomplished now look yeah

yeah and here each of these red flags

scattered through the city stands for a

woman brutally murdered a woman's teller

a woman's death agony these are no

ordinary crimes these are the works on a

fiend who kills first and mutilates

after once and through hex off a part of

his victim body and carries it away with

him

I loathe some souvenir of his butchery

three women murdered so far and you

haven't turned in one clue you haven't

given me one lead here you sit and wait

for news of a fourth victim with your

arms folded well we hadn't lungs away it

was down Lambeth way where a young woman

was hurrying home late last night he saw

something and stopped it was a constable

he spoke to her he walked along with her

just in case

he saw hunger down the stairway to the

basement lodging where she lived I can

only surmise what happened after that

[Music]

my pride in my pocket and went to see

the man had so often helped out

Inspector Lestrade and myself in the

past mr. Sherlock Holmes

[Music]

if ever a man needed help I did this mix

for inspector well defenseless women

here in the heart of London when

everyone with the right forefinger

hacked off not hacked inspector gregson

cleanly expertly severed the work for

skilled surgeon

that's what only too much about the age

of my sister's girl is there no way of

stopping this mr. Holmes

yes there's a way somehow did this I

promise I promise we have nothing to go

on

that's the rotten part of it but can't

get far without knowing the motive he's

you know what the medics were not wasn't

rubber in a fashion thanks Benno your

vengeance they all came up totally

unrelated Emily's city inspector City

sorry Holmes I don't turn a hair when

it's a bloke we can react himself will

stumble the thing like that

it's horrible come on let's get a drink

I didn't miss the house for any business

miss concertedly is in a double for my

friend he inspector gregson pick us up

make mine Irish he's nobody to give me a

handle this thing mr. Holmes was a

pleasure to be of help disgusting

jollies thinking out loud of my line

looking from maniac you it is just for

the fun of it no perhaps just to get a

human finger more for cases murder risk

capture I stopped him to security there

what for

oh no he's just a madman perhaps this

method in his madness you just chased

those missing fingers if if we could

just drag the English Channel we might

find a pennant huh well I think you'll

[Music]

make it worse mr. homn thank you

[Applause]

so George Finnegan me yes that is

daughter with him don't be so naive

inspector you know everyone don't you

garlic well hardly a week ago I collect

these things how very great huh

shall we go are you looking at mr.

Holmes I mean a very handsome woman I

want to put up all but giving an

excellent imitation would you like to

count about that for an odd kid lovely

idea

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

one of where she's taking us George

fennec was so naive

[Music]

[Music]

good evening ma'am hello Graham any

messages

no ma'am thank you

drinks Crandall one of your nice yes no

I say you don't mean it Grantham damar

Archer Grandin yes ma'am you wouldn't

believe the things she can do it hmm ah

Charlie yeah my what a question

I don't mind anything really except

nothing with you now you really don't

want me to believe that is not too

seriously

good we're both quite grown up on quite

you're a treasure gram

and lower the like a thermal flashing

light in any light would be and don't

you know perhaps I do practice you

wouldn't believe it but she's a burly

romantic

she loves drinking music and she thinks

that we but we do well it father

soothing best yes and we all invested I

tired to play to her you've played with

wooden soldier that go hmm funny I mean

father that for a year

toy boats were like this enjoy anything

I could set a slogan like this

toy boat sailing into the never never

land of beauty look your card isn't just

a licence replace little specks of light

like star you know Holmes I'm very

sensitive to atmosphere

oh yes I can tell by the feel of this

room there's been a murder committed

here it may interest you to know my dear

fellow because the other side of that

door put up the stairs with the poor

girl admitted Oh Frank oh and what the

one thing these unfortunate victims have

in common that might give us a motive

for these murders

must be something neither Jack the

Ripper if you ask me a homicidal maniac

no Watson in the case of Jack the Ripper

there was one thing in common

yes victims were all from one walk of

life living in the same section of the

city in this case the murderer chooses

his victims from all walks of life and

from different sections of the city no

my dear fellow this is not the work of a

homicidal maniac it's something

infinitely more sinister it creeps if

you're talking about what I'm convinced

to these murders are only incidental to

some larger and more diabolical scheme

maybe but why the severed finger the

answer to that question my dear fellow

is our only hope of solving these

mysteries yes sister I am so happy has

such a lovely holiday at Brighton with

you and elf I'm looking forward to being

with you again poor little thing little

raises the lump in your throat I can

picture her sitting here happily writing

this letter and are not bitter realizing

that she shot me again to her death

hello Gregson oh they wanna Holmes I've

been looking for you everywhere

what's happened murdering Edgware Road I

have an idea woman yes no right

forefinger cut off tree

[Music]

[Music]

Oh Ramona face it

Olga Simona holies pipe it's all about

my bear that favorite horrible venoth

valli up woman's are burning papers yes

I will let our hey babe hey babe meet

Oliver get your places further engage

Melrose horrible thing the murder

jockeys murder

[Music]

only fancy mum it's been another of

those horrible murders the idea I'll

shock yes mom I really don't feel quite

safe here myself oh yeah

I said your musty miss Marlowe at one I

don't know if I must see how where is

she

Vidya why through George what is it what

happened I don't know you will have to

help me

you've got to help me but I don't

understand listen I woke up a few

minutes ago in a cheap boardinghouse off

Edgware Road I don't know how I came

there I don't know when the last thing I

remember is being here with you calm

yourself did you when did I leave here

well it was about death it was 10:45 mum

precisely

you seem that forgive me just a little

bit string attached not interested I

thought I said something to offend you I

don't remember

my country tell me how this happened to

you before before well there is such a

thing as I'm Muse you know if it was

10:45 when I left you it's 9:00 this

morning when I woke over 10 hours lost

10 ARS that I can't account for and it's

my pocket when I woke I found yeah oh

it's not for you of course it can't be

excuse me mum but there's a man asking

to see the gentleman send him away yes

mom no no no no peace I'll see him

well delightful room not much like the

place to workout in this morning

followed me here

yes are you detective oh no quite the

contrary don't be afraid to George you

know my name oh yes a very old and

highly honored name and being the bear

of such a name and also a very wealthy

man I thought you might care to possess

yourself this trifle rather than it had

fallen into the hands of the fleet is

yours if I'm not mistaken the initial GM

where'd you get this

it came out of your pocket I saw it fall

which we never noticed they were very

busy

bending over something with a knife

[Music]

then you put something in your pocket

[Music]

come along come along come along

how many more talismans I tell you

you're missing a treat this is delicious

we'll jam tarts to follow won't you

tempted Union fleshpots they can we let

them fish is good to the brain

brains haven't any you realize that a

day a whole day and a night run by to

that festive affair and Edgware Road

much in the dark as ever

[Music]

hello becomes a plan to miss I'm very

much mistaken

well elective they execu

obviously she left comment of his

presence I'm very great emotion how do

you know we're wearing any gloves

the stonking omission on a young lady of

fashion oh she didn't put her coat up

open car to other more there's something

in that been she wants to show me what

makes you say the bag doesn't matter

dress neguin he was picked the size

rather than style to accommodate some

bulky object sure base bill elemental

money though well that's interesting

what if they'd cab tell you empty house

one day he followed a here well wouldn't

you

soon oh yes mrs. Hudson it's a young

lady sir

most urgent I'll come in good item this

mr. homn yes this is my friend dr.

Watson

how do you do doctor home miss well

won't you sit down

oh come on man it's quite all right I

try to control your servants medic you

look Fred you know my name no magic I

assure you I have often seen your

picture now the daughter of Sir George

Betty can't you yeah it's about my

father would I what about your father

miss Vinick oh I don't know what to do

he's always been the nice appearance

time honey since mother died right yes

yes we know so I didn't think anything

of it when he was away all night before

last

but he didn't come home until yesterday

at tea time didn't come in for dinner at

all just paced up and down in the

library are after ah I begged until at

the end but he wouldn't steady steady

take your time I couldn't sleep a wink

last night then I started hearing things

hearing things

what sort of things I heard someone in

the garden underneath my window didn't I

see a figure moving down the garden path

and I recognized my father dealing for

his own garden like a thief

he had a spade in his hand and he

stopped by the greenhouse where he

started to dig first morning at daybreak

I throw out into the garden I found this

finger a human finger bring up Scotland

Jerry Watson asked him to get hold of

inspector Gregson and tell him to meet

us once is George the next house

Kingston operator there's coming down

quick thank you we'll see him right away

will you come with me please

thank you I got your message mr. Holmes

she is indeed sad now come in come on

please do thank you

what's it quick come on hey

are they mega rich off to the back

signal third ribs bullet sound doubtedly

it penetrated the Hat look at the Panama

honey cooked afraid of this what do you

mean

and to remember the man in the cab will

follow prosthetic to big Street you

don't think he had anything do it's

reasonable to assume that he tipped on

someone I've been sent Paul George has

obviously been murdered to keep him from

killing me but I knew over the revenues

Oh caliber revolver point-blank range

never came into those French windows the

mud from the garden he brought in his

boots George must've surprised the

intruder past the room to him here

Carlos we can't tell from the location

of the wound I'd say that he turned his

back for a moment and up he turned face

between his ribs and one muffled shot

fired

you mean to say he kept on going even

after he was shot

there's no doubt about it their trail of

blood he detects the disc I know he was

trying to come and help butcher I don't

think so walking there's the devil for

the puppies no you'll notice from the

trail of blood so George made straight

to this disc here I wonder there's

nothing he was desperately anxious to

get hello his right hands clinched a

view natural ya agony the left hand rise

open eye only one hand changed him with

a dagger maybe the right hand that I'm

here is the disc please note that George

took something off this disc something's

so important that he split his last drop

of blood to get it

I want to know what it is

nothing but an ordinary match folder

where does that leave I imagined

something very important Gregson this

match folders from Pembroke house why

shouldn't it be he was there you know we

saw him yesterday

yes but the effort he made after he was

shot to get hold of his match folder

just possible we wanted someone to

remember Pembroke house they wish to

recall it to someone who slide there

someone who I can't those saw him with a

woman

oh man dr. Watson this came by hand for

mr. Holmes not ten minutes ago

thank you yes Appleby the report was

just Bank oh really

I'd have told us but he just tells me

the count I did look into it once hmm he

drew out hidden huh balancing cashed

into 10,000 pounds yesterday just after

that young woman was murdered

what does that suggest you Watson paid

it up someone precisely I'd smelled a

faint sweet odour of blackmail you don't

think he pitted out to someone who saw

him murders of a plain woman George

never murdered anyone he didn't have

that woman's finger and he MZ did to

have a lot of care a lot of cash that I

find thought about back near what the

victim is afraid to fight the accusation

no matter how false when the accusation

is made aim is smeared sometimes it's

like it's ruined

well George didn't commit these murders

what scene did I rather think they're

not the work of any one man hello come

home do not expect me to believe the

whole organization going about killing

people and chopping off their fingers

all quite possible whoever's behind all

this thing the out of his mind on the

contrary my dear fellow if my

assumptions are correct this little

scheme has behind it the most brilliant

and ruthless intellect the world has

ever known

don't mean Professor Moriarty I do

steady Holmes you've got him on the

brain the third time in as many months

you've suspected him of unsolved crimes

he's dead you know city is even though

he is he was hanged in Montevideo well

over a year ago I know that someone was

hanged in Montevideo under that name

that I'll stake my reputation that

Moriarty is alive and here now in London

[Music]

hello yes the dr. Watson rings me there

is dr. Watson speaking no no I'm afraid

I've retired I don't practice anymore

what oh that's a different thing

emerges the kid we're just with it yes

it's what she she's not moved remember

that don't touch until I get there

fractured kissing in the car with mules

heavy woman 14 stone 14 stone sort of

person who would place yourself up on a

stool to feed the canary there ought to

be a law against fat people Dicky Birds

well hon oh man I shot the very long

little Amelia what's name in the world

in a cracker child the name Peter what

media

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

Oh professor my god here after I wish to

appear inquisitive but to what man did

it for the pleasure of this visit

Scotland Yard will be interested it's

very convenient for me to have Scotland

Yard think that I'm still dead in

Montevideo I never dreamed of fooling

you thank you the thought occurs to me

mr. homn that there are some advantages

in living within the law they are very

comfortable if expansion as I get on in

life

the little comforts be with me more and

more why'd we go pardon won't you sit

down thank you and now Miss Molly out

here what can I do for you everything

that I have to say to you is already

crossed your mind my answer is no doubt

crossed yours

yes final what do you think I shall not

rest until you are hanged for the finger

murders there's no proof you know

another shred lie have you I could turn

you over to the police here and now you

could if you did would never see dr.

Watson again oh the telephone call right

I rather assumed you were taking some

such precaution or I should have

snatched up a revolver and indulged in a

pit of sure works when you came in a

smart Archer not smart enough or I

should have anticipated jewel but any

harm comes to dr. Watson ice will seek

you out I shall not rest until I find

you and when I do no harm will come to

dr. Watson this time

but I can't answer for the future mr.

Holmes I had strongly advise you to drop

the skates don't be silly

think it over we've had many encounters

in the past you hope to place me on the

gallows I tell you I shall never stand

upon the camera but if you are

instrumental in any way in bringing

about my destruction you will not be

alive to enjoy your satisfaction we

shall walk together through the gates of

eternity

hand in hand what a charming picture

that's what madness wouldn't it and I

really think it might be worth it

shoelaces dozen times up there and long

enough to hang yourself how many more

times until you I don't want your filthy

shoelaces all your company shoelaces cap

not impertinence run along my good man

I'll give you a charge shoelaces heaven

she raised you got it go for broke watch

only got one arm and you like that mr.

Holmes you can read as a pitcher in

tomorrow's papers oh man just hang onto

the foil looks lonely what for so you

don't think I know my way about you're

right I don't

blasto practical jokers anyhow the world

bein a wild goose chase

exactly there's no such number in

McArdle's news some fools idea of a joke

[Music]

did you see anyone nobody especially

only a whiny old idiot spinning

bootlaces think it was me

thank you like grim death huh you know

find their less true for some one little

prank better pickings

someone my dear Watson was professor

somebody out here himself what just

called on me Mariana here and you let

him girl trust your mind why well he

bluffed me into believing that he was

holding a friend of mine as hostage and

they also Oh nobody very important just

a fat lazy fellow

I believe medical men do I know I guess

I think you do well a little the name of

Watson who me

I'm afraid sir well fella yeah a street

hawkers job was to do away with you in a

certain contingency a new net mariachi

go cuz of me I have no choice can't

afford to lose you or below what do you

know the old chap I must say but what we

should nab him we shall never fear I

know the motive for the finger murders

all I have to find out now is the method

used with a black male victims method

yes how does money on he get them to the

scene of the crime how did he plant

those severed fingers on them and how

did he scare them is believing that them

mean they have committed those atrocious

murders themselves curious very curious

huh sure it what secure that window in

the empty house cross street first of

all front o throw a jokey I shouldn't

feel it wasn't open half an hour ago

stake my life on that oh so now business

stilton i yank

what if you go over over see what's

matter

trusting in slaw welcome stuff like that

ridiculous waste of time

think about shutting windows at this

other night new you better take this

torch don't take what

dignified job for dr. dr. Watson the

torchbearer

what do you propose to do sit in a

comfortable chair rose and read a good

book was very good idea yes very good

idea alright a night watchman you have a

nice read have a good time

[Music]

therefore oh I'm very scary little thing

to keep about the house let's be a pet

[Music]

well he sits comfortable reading a book

[Music]

he came home he took what you and I

found sutures taken the girl ended about

the Julius Caesar incident you may have

noticed but that all through the ages

prominent men have prominent noses huh

bravery terrible trouble again with mrs.

Hudson windows smashed plaster all over

the floor get up you Corporal Williams

Middle States Richard discharge from the

Army is physically unfit yeah you can

seem in order now coq au vin the scene

service in the Far East heading to the

east

I thought so look his complexion wasn't

yellow Steffen taking that Brian sure

for malaria sniper Rancho sniper mmm why

did you try to kill me I had to kill him

I had to oh snap out of it what he's

shamming the reason who told you to kill

me she told me she told you she told me

I couldn't miss well luckily you did

miss you murderer Nevada Watson doesn't

call volumes she told you you had to do

it didn't she I had to do it okay I got

it got what the method used in the

finger murders I already met isn't my

dear fellow hypnotism there wasn't

against his nature that's the devilish

part of it they picked a man for that

purpose whose job smite me who are they

that's somebody out here you think of

murderers we in this beautiful woman I

think you'll find that she asked him

home tonight for a drink nice quiet

rooms off lights music you've got it all

pet mr. Holmes

what's the lady look like Oh 30 nice

figure blonde lustrous eyes really

better phone Apple Williams will give us

her address the captain Gregson

don't think anyone can hear him he's our

key witness and the finger murders

well I hope you're guessing right mr.

Holmes get up Williams now go with

inspector Gregson anybody tells you come

on yeah ring me as soon as he comes to

Salford if I will remember when I well

if you believe that full of Williams was

hypnotized I suppose you think Sir

George fennec was hypnotized too I'm

quite sure of it how a cup of tea thanks

for boiling to eat why didn't these

people make Sir George who the murder

himself though they didn't wanna get him

hanged yeah the one at the blackmail him

who do you think the actual murderer is

oh my god is gang a diabolic his simple

technique kill a woman yes

why cut off the fingers my dear father

don't you understand the severed finger

is what links the blackmail victim to

the murder he waits I'm Steve is living

in his pocket there now I got there you

no idea who's been you can't I wrong he

knows he may have committed the

atrocious crime during some dreadful

lapse of sanity

let's take Willie's utterly demoralized

he blackmailer take over then it

undoubtedly you see I swear that they

saw him commit the murder

and being human the victim will take

anything rather than stand trial on a

charge that will make his very name look

Tim if you believe in hypnotism any

possible explanation

you think the hypnotist is that woman

with a blonde hair left his eyes when

you invent it I didn't invent that I saw

her it

ever that woman malya watson was with

the George when he left in Brooke house

I saw her there I shall see her again

and Williams will leave me to her that's

why it's so important you see he will

identify her well yeah

take the Vixen what okay every constable

in the district

yes I'll be over at once what's happened

home Williams is missing great cop

come on boy cracked into fixing card you

don't confuse them Williams good escape

there no kidnapped came to you don't

think this market money at me

anything's possible Williams dead see

anything is possible

oh good morning Professor Moriarty you

startled me

I'm dressing another dolly dear didn't

know is there anything wrong with your

feeling justice Pinta nasty thing

splinters most trying one can't be too

careful

but I'll get it out I have very sharp

enough to splitter here put those tools

away until they're needed but they're

not to serve their instruments

put them away Lydia Aryan yes really you

should let me get dressed

Holmes and Watson just as paper Street

from there's my trap

Edmund the meeting place of all the top

hypnotism under do you suppose mr.

Holmes it onto our method it is

dispensed with merely a suspicion it's

our business to see that it ends there I

hope they'll right

William has passed away before I could

talk from ever what do you want me to do

Gotham is my club meet Holmes and induce

him to come back here isn't that a bit

dangerous every meeting with Sherlock

Holmes is potentially dangerous however

you say he didn't see your face at

Pennbrook house and how would you

suggest I get mr. home to a customer

here kidnapping

oh no permit says one week is insatiable

curiosity

you've been aroused that isn't leading

anywhere it's up to you to take

advantage of any opportunity that may

arise

this way please Dingle then I'll tell

dr. Onslow that you're here thank you

mumbo-jumbo Oh medical man you must play

bottoms and

that may be but 90% of hypnotist the

crooks are the worst kind

I think wrong a lot of charlatans

exploiting weak willed morons huh

applause well I believe happy to meet

you mr. homn and your brother Mycroft

suggested I might be a cookie he's a

valued member of our little group

perfect charlatans and Brooks I'm been

dr. what ah they're like elemental

session at this very moment it's you

gotta join us very instructive oh thank

you hypnotism that mean our Cornish is

considered by innumerable physicians

especially is value in surgical cases

where the administration of local or of

general anesthetics is in advisor is

advisable

poppycock for the sake of late comers I

may say that I have placed this subject

under profound hypnosis in this

condition he can feel no pain even under

application which normally would be

excruciating thank you excuse me please

Carter you were having a peaceful sleep

and feel nothing your arms and your

hands are without sensation move it

along

Carl give me your right hand

as you observe the needle has been

thrust completely through the subjects

have no feeling no pain

this lack of feeling is the one in

palpable Tet of profound hypnosis

nonsense Joshua drugs

wait up Carter wake up you well and

rested remember no pain anywhere wake up

wake up I say when you going to begin

all through Carter's stand out these all

the people who come here oh no I'll just

keep dropping in all the time suppose

it's alright for those who believe in it

of course I'm a professional man I know

and you don't believe in hypnotism

doctor what I don't deny there are

certain types of hysterical people

minded people who go on what you think

about them but anyone with an ounce of

character I liked you are you see right

through our little articles adultery

right through my dear sir right through

itself but with these people minded as

you say excuse me

step over here when you slip this little

blood let me show you how easily we

charlatans uh take advantage of its

wonderful the attraction on the

feeble-minded of course the continuous

motion if they just let themselves

follow of course you could stare at it

your doomsday dr. Watson with no effect

at all still it might make you a little

drowsy like the white ribbon of road at

night when you're driving the rhythm is

smooth

broken and the road goes on the long

round and round always the same winding

and winding and you're drowsy your tire

let the road coming to you as it where

the long road the smooth Road the road

to see me open your eyes and up then

around and now dr. Watson you're on a

holiday in Scotland the country is

amazingly beautiful we're coming to a

street

it isn't deep does it take your shoes

and socks off

roll up your tractor that will do the

other leg is waterproof mind the pebbles

[Music]

yeah I see what'd I tell you with me

nobody will announce okay laughter

What's in shit here Oh woman you're

looking for

yes I'm gonna meet ya perhaps I can

induce her to take the money out here

just he gets why don't you not be wise

with it to central not all I held me on

with Marie Artie and past but isn't it

dangerous she might be a hypnotist

Myra listen stronger than hers I deserve

to be hypnotized I said I must protest

dr. Ahn's well I was told us with a

gathering of serious students of a great

time and I find myself in the company of

the fool oh hi Jim man and it's an

Airedale brain were those men models for

the truth you may laugh over your

childish cruel tricks I must say I'm in

complete agreement with you madam this

was the most unnecessary performance dr.

Angelo beg your pardon sir

my name is heavens Sherlock Holmes

that's a service madam thank you mister

home I'm afraid I've created a rather

embarrassing situation which is the an

instant area study okay so am i -

perhaps we have something in common

perhaps we have your join me for a

cocktail attend because I should be

delighted good

thank you

I didn't know there was such a

presentation ending with the lacs Jeff

stop coming here I thought a little

pick-me-up or do is good okay I like the

way you look thank you

I suppose I did lose my head a little

asthma crap

but you see hypnotism is almost a

religion with me I know so well what it

can do to help heal that got Barris you

choose for trivial papers I know very

little about it that's when I went to

the MS McLeod

you see I'm rather puzzled just now with

the case of them working on tell me

about it

the murder of Sir George penny penny

would he quite about known it again odd

now I come to view this last time I saw

Sir George was here at Democrats

exchange yes yes you were sitting room

I've never seen any table cigarette

thanks to God it was a charming lady

Bennett he was a cigarette

charming did you see her face

no worse I nearly got back how I know

surprising on yes wasn't it great I'm
