(My Sassy Girl)

Episode 21

There was a secret transaction using my marriage?

It might have something to do with the treason.

How dare...

You did a great job.

I will tell the King of Joseon about your loyalty...

I did not do it out of such loyalty.

I did it for my own sake.

You did it for yourself?

Do you recognize...

the handwriting?

(I want to keep you here no matter what it takes.)

So this is...

the famous fan designed to recruit talented people?

The Emperor gave me this as he wanted me...

to stay there and work for Qing.

And...

the Emperor promised you he would grant your wish...

anytime you take out this fan, right?

Please give up on the royal marriage.

That is all I want.

Jerk.

Jerk!

"Jerk"?

What does it mean?

It means you feel great.

Jerk...

If you desperately long for something, it brings you a miracle.

"I learned a lot from you."

"I will not forget all the moments I had with you."

"I wish you happiness."

"I will always pray for your happiness."

You look quite sad.

Of course. The prince is handsome.

Why do you not go to Qing with him then?

It is not too late.

Master Gyun, are you upset?

What do you mean? That is totally absurd.

Come on. I know you are upset.

Please stop it.

I must have gone out of mind.

How could I think this petty man is better than the prince?

Pardon?

What did you just say?

- I know you heard it. - I could not hear it clearly.

You are more handsome than him.

You are so beautiful.

Do you really think so?

They are so lovey-dovey together.

Who did you collude with?

Your charge is treason.

You cannot just take the responsibility alone.

Master.

You will never be able to get out of here...

before you reveal everything.

If you ever...

think someone would let you free,

that is nothing but a vain hope.

Your Majesty, put the criminal to death by dismemberment, please.

We have already secured the evidence,

and he clearly has diabolical greed.

There is no reason to keep him alive anymore.

Please behead him immediately and make it an exemplary punishment.

Your Majesty, that is not right.

You cannot punish him without a proper interrogation.

I agree. A thorough investigation must precede.

Your Majesty, please question the criminal yourself.

There may be accomplices.

Please interrogate him yourself...

and eliminate all suspicions.

What do you think about it?

Answer me.

I believe it is a reasonable suggestion.

I will hold an official investigation in three days.

I ask you all for your presence...

and cooperation so that we can get to the bottom of the case.

- Yes, Your Majesty. - Yes, Your Majesty.

An official investigation?

What if Minister of Taxation reveals everything?

Office of Investigation is on high alert.

Since the devoted retainers of Lieutenant Kang are on guard,

it seems difficult to break in.

We have three days left.

Then get rid of him immediately.

You know what happens...

when we fail to remove the rotten flesh.

I heard you made a contribution to arresting the minister.

Let me thank you.

I cannot take credit...

for being patriotic as a subject...

and rectifying injustices.

I will reward you.

Is there any position you want to take?

I did not do it for a reward.

Just tell me.

I really want to reward you.

You were reinstated as the Prince's teacher?

What is the matter?

The King said you could take up any position you wanted.

Why did you just decide to be the Prince's teacher again?

What is wrong about being a teacher?

I am just saying there are many better posts than that.

I will be able to see you more often and easily then.

Also, I believe the position to give right instructions to the Prince...

who will govern the nation is more important than any other jobs.

Why are you gazing at me?

Because you are so lovely.

Your Highness.

Your Highness.

- Your Highness! - You scared me.

Do you have a death wish?

I called you so many times.

You were so engrossed in thinking of Master Gyun and did not hear me.

How do you know...

if I was thinking of Master Gyun or not?

It is obvious. You were smirking...

with flushed cheeks.

Do you think we are that slow-witted?

Did I really look like that?

Do you like him that much?

Do not ask! I do not know.

Do not look at me.

My lady,

please wait here.

My lord...

What happened?

I asked you what happened.

She heard...

that the Princess's marriage is called off because of Master Gyun...

By the way, who requested for a royal marriage...

with the Princess?

Why do you ask?

It is just out of curiosity.

Resignation?

Why do you not take a look at yourself...

and devote to training young scholars in Jeonju for a while?

Father, why...

When a tree grows taller, it has to withstand more wind and rain.

Sometimes, it needs to find...

and stand under the shade rather than basking in the sun.

I understand how worried you are but I cannot do that.

- Woo. - A tree that runs away...

from the wind and rain out of fear can never be a strong tree.

Please trust me and watch me.

Do as your father says.

Mother...

You have had bad dreams and become lean recently.

Get him better invigorating tonics. He does not have to resign.

What is the matter with you and Father?

- Be quiet. - Am I wrong?

Working as the Prince's teacher is...

I said be quiet.

Mother...

Woo, I do not want you to risk yourself.

I do not want you to get along with the Princess either.

Please give a second thought to his suggestion.

Do not go.

Do not.

Please do not leave.

Please.

Show me the other side too.

Your Highness!

What are you making a fuss over?

Queen Dowager wants you to come over.

Grandmother wants to see me?

You look well now.

I know it must have been painful to you.

I have not felt at ease either.

It must have been the same with the King.

I heard everything...

from why you had to leave the palace in secrecy...

to why you had to stay silent.

However, whatever the reason for your going outside the palace is,

people who had no idea about it...

must have thought you were an uncivilized and sassy princess.

You caused the King troubles so many times.

I apologize, Grandmother.

It is not too late.

Show people your dignity and behavior as the Princess.

Thank you, master.

- Pardon? - You stopped...

my sister from leaving for Qing.

It mattered a lot to me as well.

Are you that happy?

Pardon?

Well...

You must be happy as you returned to work.

Well, of course.

I am more than happy to teach you again.

Prince.

Gosh, you are here too.

It is great to see you.

Did you not know I study at this hour?

Prince.

Eat this.

It is honey rice cake.

Try some.

Have some too.

I made it myself, so make sure to finish all.

Yes, Your Highness.

You made these yourself?

I did. Dig in.

Please have it first.

I will.

How is it, master?

Wow. I have never tasted something like this.

It has a very unique taste.

- Does that mean it tastes good? - Yes.

Gosh, what on earth is this?

What did you put in the rice cake?

Did you put salt instead of honey?

Why? Is it salty?

Master, does it really taste good to you?

It does.

It is full of salt.

Did I pour too much salt when I kneaded the dough?

It is just perfect to me.

Why are you looking at me?

You have...

Do I have something on my face? Or do I look too beautiful?

You could have just told me if I had something on my face.

How rude you are!

I apologize.

Hye Myung, why are you so mad?

You just saw what he did to me.

I cannot let it slide.

I need you to follow me.

What is the matter with her?

I think I made a mistake.

Please do not worry. I will go and apologize to her.

Gosh.

I will start working at the Bureau of Medical Services today.

- You will work? - Grandmother ordered me to do so...

as a punishment for sneaking out of the palace.

- You deserve it. - What?

You know what you have done so far.

Do you want to die?

If you say you would die with me, yes.

Please take care there.

Do not worry. Byul and Young Sin will accompany me.

By the way, what happened to Minister of Taxation?

He has not opened his mouth yet.

Stop.

Bring it to me.

Lieutenant Kang.

They already planned to kill you.

Are you mocking me?

The King will interrogate you two days later.

You should tell him everything.

That is the only way to save your life.

He still remains silent?

I offered him a commutation of punishment,

but he did not even blink an eye.

He still believes they would get him out of prison.

I am sure it would be hard for him to accept that he is abandoned.

I will do my best to persuade him until the investigation.

You failed?

Fortunately, the minister has not betrayed us yet.

Are you joking me?

I apologize.

The Queen wants you to come over.

I told you to stay quiet until I take care of everything.

How am I supposed to stay quiet now?

The marriage is called off.

The Prince of Qing left for Qing, and the Princess is still here.

And Minister of Taxation...

happened to be arrested on the charge of treason...

for having a secret transaction.

I did not know he was such a greedy person.

You really did not know about it?

How could I know what he had been up to?

You suggested the marriage to the Qing Dynasty.

It is Qing that offered the marriage first.

Sure.

You are right.

By the way,

You seem to be curious in so many things, Your Highness.

Do not try to know everything.

If you do,

you will only put yourself in danger.

Master,

what on earth do you have up your sleeve?

Although it is a punishment, you must have dressed up.

Everyone there must be waiting to see how pretty you are.

Are you saying that I do not look pretty now?

No, Your Highness. Of course not.

Your beauty never fades no matter what you wear.

I am not going there to show off my beauty...

but to help the people in need.

So you need to work hard too.

- Yes, Your Highness. - Yes, Your Highness.

(Congratulations! The Princess pays a visit for a helping hand.)

Gosh, I hate such a thing.

But you do not have a choice.

(Congratulations! The Princess pays a visit for a helping hand.)

Are you from the palace?

By the way,

where is the Princess?

So...

the Princess is not here today?

Well,

I apologize, Your Highness.

Please forgive me.

I said it is all right.

Is it really okay?

Everything is fine. I am not that uptight.

I see. Please follow me.

We prepared a place to rest during your stay.

A place to rest?

Yes. We also prepared sumptuous refreshments with tea.

I will show you the way.

I am not okay with that.

Pardon?

I am here to work not to idle away.

So please assign work to me. I will do my best.

I see.

It is dangerous. Play over there.

Come here.

What are you doing?

Let us go take the medicine.

It is time to take the medicine.

Good job. You are a good girl.

One more.

Please open your mouth.

"Hearing only one side of story..."

"causes estrangement only."

"Hearing only one side of story..."

"causes..."

"estrangement only."

People will be estranged from each other...

if they listen to only one side of the story.

Are you okay, master?

I am.

Why did you eat that salty rice cake that much?

You will understand me when you grow up.

When I grow up?

Master Gyun.

I found it on my way here.

Are you here to see me?

I just happened to pass by.

I know you came to see me with flowers.
