Episode 4

Don't forget to hang the white flag!

Stop!

-Princess!-Princess!

-Princess! Where are you?-Princess!

-Where are you?-Let's see how you'll be able to follow me!

Princess!

You stepped on my flower!

-It's you.-It's you.

Aren't you that bad egg?

What bad egg? I am a particularly smart

handsome, and cool gardener!

You're not here to commit some sort of crime are you?

Let me tell you! I cannot decide what happens in Yong'an City,

But this is my place.

If you don't act obediently, see how I'll finish you off!

-I'm really a bit scared!-You don't believe me?

Okay.

Okay okay, fine. I knew you'd pull that trick.

Forget it.

I was wrong before.

I'll give this flower to you as an apology.

How did you conjure up a flower? Make another one!

You want to learn, right?

If we can forget about what happened before, I can consider teaching you.

I don't desire to.

We've talked so long but I don't know what you do in this palace.

I'm the princ--a palace maid. A very skilled maid.

Let me tell you. As long as you have me watching over you in Cui Sha Palace,

no one will be able to hurt you.

This is my first time seeing a palace maid dressed like you.

Well this is my first time seeing a gardener who wears grass.

You don't understand. This is a sign of status!

Fine then. Then, gardener with status,

what is your name?

My name is Jun Wei. If you don't mind, you can call me Big Brother Jun Wei.

You are quite daring!

You dare to have the same name as the Son of Heaven?

Can I not be the Son of Heaven?

What a joke.

I haven't ask you yet. What is your name?

Just call me Zhen'er.

-Zhen'er.-Yeah.

Yong'an City has sent news that the Son of Heaven might be in the Kingdom of Wei.

Send someone to secretly investigate. You must not let the news leak out.

-Yes.-Conjure it up one more time!

-No, look at this.-That one.

Your Majesty, that is the new gardener who has come from Yong'an City.

He's supposedly really good at planting flowers, so he was let into the palace.

I didn't think that he would dare associate with the princess!

I'll immediately send someone to kick him out of the palace.

What's the rush? Give my orders,

no one can bother that gardener.

Let him have full freedom in the palace.

Your Majesty! Why?

The Nine Land's Son of Heaven is in front of our eyes.

I didn't think that this girl would have known the Son of Heaven already.

Let's go.

-Isn't it great? -Amazing!

If you have something to say, come in to say it.

Don't just hesitate outside the door.

General, the white flag has been put into place.

Got it. You may leave.

Yes.

Ning'er.

Big brother! Why have you come here instead of staying by the king's side?

I especially came to give this to you.

One of the ten mystical artifacts of the Nine Lands - Dragon Scale Protective Mirror?

Big brother, this is...?

This belongs to you from now on.

This is our Song household's treasure passed down through the generations.

It is only passed to the eldest son. I cannot...

It's okay if I say so. Take it.

Ah Ning, you may be a girl,

but you are born to be a warrior.

Father once said that if you were born a boy, you'd definitely be our era's hero.

You are more of a match with this chest shield.

But this is still something Father left to you.

What, you don't want it?

Then I'll take it back.

I want it. Since you gave it to me,

then it's mine!

You brat, you've always been like this. You always have to argue with me.

Big brother, what's wrong?

I came this time...because there's something else too.

What is it?

That little kid rescinded his marriage offer again.

Which little kid?

Cheng Xiang's son. That rotten kid,

A few days ago, I went to their mansion to pay them a visit.

Before I thought, that with the battle ahead,

if you two got married, then one of my wishes would be fulfilled.

I never thought that after that brat heard it,

he even fainted!

After he woke up, he cried and begged to rescind the marriage!

How useless.

I wanted to rescind this marriage long ago.

Since it's like this, it's good too.

Ning'er, I know you must feel terrible in your heart,

but it's alright. I have my ways.

I will definitely make that muddle headed kid marry you!

What's the meaning behind an unwilling marriage?

The rumors are spread all over the city. It's said that whoever marries me will die.

Who said that? Who's so daring?

I'll go back and beat them!

Big brother! Those are all your friends!

Don't listen to them speak nonsense.

Is our Ning'er such a person who doesn't care for emotions?

I am.

If neither is willing, then what is the point of staying together until the end?

Seeing the man you love be loving with another person,

Then what difference is there between that and being executed?

If I am to marry, it will be to one who fully loves me.

If I am to marry, I will marry a hero of our era.

If there isn't anyone, I am willing to wait for my entire life.

General Shen, what is the bet today?

Today the one who loses has to hang the white flag on themselves!

Kill!

Kill! Kill!

The deity device of the Nine Lands, the chest shield.

You would have never thought of it, right?

The Kingdom of Wei's Song household's treasure throughout the generations. It indeed can save lives.

What? Are you not willing to admit defeat?

Don't forget to hang the white flag on yourself.

Reporting!

Eldest Prince, recently there was a lot of rain so all the rocks fell down in an avalanche. The road cannot be passed.

This means that we must take another path to meet up with General Shen's troops.

The closest path would be the small town a hundred li (50km) from here.

But doing things this way would require another two days.

I wonder how things are going with General Shen.

Time isn't a problem for General Shen.

If that General Song didn't have such a good chest shield,

General, how could you have lost?

What she said was right,

On the battlefield, losing is losing, and winning is winning.

General, that spiteful Song woman set traps.

There is no such concept as 'too much deception' in war. That is the best way to gain an upper hand.

Previously, I was the one who weakened and let my emotions come through.

I'm the one who was wrong.

But General, will you be able to swallow this?

Previously, I only treated her as a female warrior. Even though I knew she was very strong,

But I still had my prejudices.

Right now I know, I was the one who was wrong.

Song Ning is indeed a strong soldier.

She is an opponent who is worthy of my respect.

At the next battle, I will use all my strength.

For my Kingdom of Chen's reputation,

and at the same time, it is for my own crime.

Big brother?

Ning'er, leave with me.

I'll take you to see something great!

What thing?

You'll know once you go. Let's go.

Big brother, what are you taking me to see?

Big brother, what is this?

This is our treasure to help us win!

Wandering flame?

The smoke is poisonous. Hurry and drink this.

Legend has it that a previous King of Chen collected sulphur smoke from northern volcanoes

and mixed it with the most poisonous things on earth, creating flames, now known as Wandering Flames.

The Wandering Flames are invincible - it only leaves destruction in its wake.

The Wandering Flames are seen as unorthodox, and due to its destructive nature, caused much anger throughout the lands.

Hence the flame was completely annihilated a hundred years ago.

While the northern volcano exploded into smithereens during an eruption.

Big brother, where did you get all of this from?

What's important now is not where it came from,

but how we can ensure our Kingdom of Wei's land!

-But-!-Ah Ning,

I will not tell you where it came from! You should stop asking.

This is an extremely poisonous weapon! I cannot use it.

Ah Ning! The Kingdom of Chen is savage, if we use the Wandering Flame to combat them,

We are just giving a tooth for a tooth!

The best way to win a war is to launch a surprise attack on the enemy.

In these three days, you have fought too hard with Shen An.

You are not aware of the fear that is spreading in court due to the lack of a complete victory.

If we don't win this battle, I'm afraid our entire country runs the risk of being destroyed.

Ning'er, it's time to be cruel!

Princess!

Princess.

Princess, are you okay?

It's fine. I just had a nightmare.

Hey, if I dreamed that someone was in danger,

then would that person really be in danger in real life?

-It's just a dream.-But what if it's a dream telling the future?

Princess, who are you worried about?

No one.

Careful, there's an ambush!

Sir!

Retreat!

Is there any news of the Eldest Prince?

There has already been three days without news of the Eldest Prince.

Logically, he should have arrived at the rear of Yeying Canyon.

If we keep dragging things on, will something bad happen?

What your meaning is...

As I see things, why not retreat for now? It is for everyone's safety.

If we wait for the support army from Middle General,

it won't be too late to enter the city then.

General,

The Eldest Prince is a detailed and secretive person.

Not many know this, including the military tactician.

That there was an attack this time..

Someone must have leaked news.

General, what are you saying?

General, I am entirely loyal!

-I only-!-You don't need to keep talking.

Immediately send some soldiers to get some news.

This is the first time the Crown Prince goes into battle.

He definitely cannot become the world's laughingstock!

Even if I die,

I will win this battle!

If General wants to charge ahead relying on strength alone,

then there's nothing else I can say!

General, I...

I will leave now.

Su Yu, is this the worst case scenario you were talking about?

I wonder if I can pass through this trial with you this time.

Thank you, Sir.

Is there still a need for thanks between us?

It's the mark of the Kingdom of Wei.

But why did they have to hide their identity?

You are saying that the ones who ambushed us...were from the Kingdom of Wei?

But, how did they know that we would take that road?

Could it be...someone leaked our plans?

Yes.

I only decided to take that path yesterday.

How did they find out?

You are injured, get some rest. I'm going to go investigate.

You are not from the Kingdom of Wei. Hurry and tell me who you are.

-Then I will save you.-We are...

Sir!

Why are you here?

I heard movement, and was afraid it would be soldiers coming after us.

I was also afraid of your safety, so I rushed over.

How are things? Did you find any clues?

All the clues have been broken off.

Then what do we do?

Both men and horses have been lost. We cannot complete our plan now.

What we can do now, is return to the military camp.

Since the other side could find out about our plans,

then they would also know that General Shen doesn't have many forces with him.

We must hurry and go back to plan.

Then how about we send a letter to have General Shen retreat?

At this time, we can only keep going. This is also for those lives of the thousands of soldiers.

If the Kingdom of Wei knew we are low in forces, they'll definitely come after us.

And we are low in rations. In the end, we'll be completely destroyed.

and also be called the army that retreated without a fight.

Sir your meaning is..?

Someone doesn't want me to be the Crown Prince.

Ziyan, even if I make it past this time,

there will only be more in the future.

Let's go. Since we are going to die, we will kill as we desire with General Shen!

General, please spare my life!

An'er, the power of the powder still hasn't faded yet. Get some rest, or else you'll hurt yourself.

Father?

Why did you do that?

I will tell you tomorrow when the hour comes.

No! With the battle in front of me, as the general, how can I run away?

The Kingdom of Wei is right in front of my eyes!

If I am not in the camp, everyone will be in chaos!

If the Kingdom of Wei finds out, then that is the same as sending all my soldiers to die!

No matter why you kidnapped me,

As long as I am still the Kingdom of Chen's general,

Even if I die, I must die on the battlefield!

Stupid! Why did you think that I would take you away under the risk of being discovered?

Because you will definitely lose this battle! I don't want you to go die.

Though your son isn't very talented,

I will never fight a battle that is destined to be lost!

Do you really think Su Yu's backup forces can really help you?

Do you really think that if you drag on a few more days, then you and Su Yu's forces can meet up

and force your way into the city and beat the Kingdom of Wei?

Let me tell you. Su Yu and his forces were all killed along the way!

You are destined to lose this battle, then what are you going to do?

You were the one who sent people to ambush them,

you were the one who sent people to kill Su Yu and his forces!

You're afraid that we'll lose.

You're afraid Eldest Prince will win against all odds, and gain the hearts of the court officials.

You are even more afraid that if you cannot use your soldiers, even your life will be in danger!

You are threatening the King!

How dare you!

Can you not appreciate my intentions?

-But Father!-Don't talk!

You don't understand. Su Yu will definitely lose.

He cannot properly do the position of the Crown Prince!

-Father, why?-I have no way of telling you that.

You know that you'll definitely die, and you still want to return to camp?

I would rather die on the battlefield,

then become a traitor in the midst of danger!

I am also not willing to be irresponsible!

You really have no regrets?

I do not.

Before I change my mind,

you can leave.

If I really do not come back this time,

I ask that you, Father, take care.

I have already sent people to disperse the antidote water.

How long is it useful for?

About two to three hours.

You are still mad?

Once the Wandering Flames are released, our troops will score a definitive victory.

Why should I be mad?

You think it is a dishonourable way to win.

As long as we live, what methods can't we use?

Get my horse ready!

Soldiers,

do you know what our mission is as soldiers?

It is to fight! Until our last breath, until our last drop of blood, we must still fight!

After one battle, what we must face next is the next battle!

With one loss, we will taste death.

But we cannot back down!

Our lives cannot have the words "back down" in them!

So...even if we are destined to die on the battlefield,

let's make every battle beautiful!

Let's make sure our enemies are quaking in their boots when they hear our battle cries.

Kill! Kill! Kill!

Kill! Kill!

General Shen,

the battle between the two of us today is the battle between our two countries.

If we weren't enemies on the battlefield,

your personality really fits my taste.

It's just a shame that I am tired of this boring game.

Today, let the two of us really decide who is better!

As you wish!

Why aren't you killing me?

Why must I kill you?

Song Ning, you set a trap!

Kill!

General Shen? General Shen!

Shen An, even though we are enemies with our own soldiers to lead,

But I always noticed that you were brave and willing to go into anything, a true man!

You spared me, yet I used explosives to attack you!

Even though it wasn't originally my idea, you died because of me!

I know you aren't happy because you lost.

If you hate me, I will wait for you to get revenge when you are reincarnated.

Please rest in peace.

Shen An! Shen An!

Shen An! Don't die.

You didn't die!

Shen An! You spared my life once, so I will definitely return the favor!

No matter what the price is, I will pay it all!

Let's go!

It should be explosives.

This isn't regular fire. Look, the body has been turned completely black by the fire.

It's clearly poison.

Poison within the fire?

Is this the legendary Wandering Flame? But wasn't it already annihilated?

Could it be that the Kingdom of Wei found a way to make it?

It shouldn't be that simple.

Crown Prince, I have come too late! I deserve to die!

General, please do not feel remorseful.

Where is An'er? Crown Prince, where is my An'er?

At the moment...I...

Reporting!

General Shen was beaten by the Kingdom of Wei's Song Ning,

-out of a thousand people, no on lived!-What did you say?

An'er he..?

- Your Excellency! - General, please accept my condolences.

-Did you find General Shen's body?-No.

Since there is no body, we have no proof that General Shen died.

-Send people to look in detail!-Yes!

Crown Prince, I do not understand. Didn't An'er set off with you?

Why is the crown prince safe and my son dead?

Not one soldier survived. Why did this happen?

How dare you!

Because..I was always one who was afraid to die.

You-!

You-!!
