[door squeaks] [door opens]
- Hi, Kevin.
How are, oh my God, Kevin.
Kevin, please, have a seat.
Oh my God.
[Kevin grunts]
- Yeah, that.
That was a, that was a bit worse before,
but it's much better now.
- Okay.
You also smell like you've been drinking too.
Does that have anything to do with the black eye?
- Probably.
Maybe,
maybe not, but I had that nightmare again.
- Do you wanna talk about the nightmare?
- [Kevin] Yeah, I think we can.
That would work.
- [Jan] All right, then, let's talk about it.
- The dream was surreal.
It was about my mom's funeral again.
And this time the, the casket lid came flying open.
There was someone in there, but it, it wasn't her.
- Oh, so, tell me, what was it?
- I don't think I wanna go into that right now,
but I'm far more interested in making it stop.
- [Jan] Understood.
You really haven't had the time to grieve
your mother's death.
Maybe we should break this down
so we can get a fresh perspective
on why you've been having these dreams.
How about your health?
Have you been nauseous, had any headaches lately?
[Kevin sighs]
- No.
Nothing like that.
- Have you, tell me a little bit about the drinking.
- I still struggle back and forth,
but as for two weeks ago,
I really can't remember.
- Okay, fair enough.
How about the job hunting?
How's that going?
- Yeah, it's, it's not, I mean,
in the last few weeks...
I still collect unemployment, so, I'm okay for now.
- Okay, well, let's start with something easy.
How are you feeling right now?
[soft suspenseful music]

[man grunts]
- Oh, fuck! [panting]
- Don't you know it's a little late
to be out jogging, Fordo. [laughs]
- Who the fuck are you? [brick clatters]
[tense music] [man panting]
No, no, no, no, no, no! [grunts and chokes]
[man coughs]

[Shawna sobbing]
[door squeaks] [Shawna screams]
[door closes]
[Shawna crying]
- Just take the fucking drugs,
just take the fucking drugs.
- Don't mind if I do.
[sword thuds] [suspenseful music continues]
[suspenseful music continues] [Shawna crying]
[lighter clatters]
[suspenseful music continues]
[foot taps]
[suspenseful music continues] [Shawna crying]
[suspenseful music continues]
[Kevin blows] [suspenseful music continues]
[Shawna sobbing]
Crack. [lighter clatters]
[Shawna screams] [table clatters]
[Shawna screams] [suspenseful music continues]
[Kevin exhales deeply]
All right, crackpot. [chuckles]
It appears your bae is taking you for granted.
All of your love,
all of your concern,
all of your affection.
So, I can only assume it's not my lovely presence
that's causing you all of this
emotional meltdown.
The words he was using weren't exactly becoming
of a nurturing boyfriend or a gentleman, [chuckles]
but just like every other woman
with little to no self-respect,
you stand idly back
and absorb every single blow
just like the punching bag he had
in the garage when he was a kid.
[suspenseful music continues] [Kevin exhales deeply]
"We only accept the love we think we deserve."
Stephen Chbosky.
The perks of being a wallflower.
You know, I believe in fate.
So, I was walking by the house tonight,
right at the right time, for a good reason.
And you're in luck,
because tonight I am going to teach
that fucking asshole a lesson.
We,
[Shawna crying]
we are going to teach that fucking asshole a lesson,
together as a team.
[suspenseful music continues]
Your pain is about to end.
[Shawna screaming]
[tense suspenseful music]
- I'm gonna kill this bitch.
[tense suspenseful music continues]
Shawna?
What the fuck?
Shawna?
[man crying]
Shawna? [crying]
- So, people handle grief in many unique ways, Kevin.
A little anger is quite common,
especially after what you've been through.
So, if you don't mind, can we talk about your friends?
How are things with Jason in particular?
- I haven't,
I haven't talked to him in several days.
We had a, we had a good time last time we hung out.
It was okay. - Good, that's good.
And what about, what about your other friend, Richard?
- He seems to be carrying on okay, you know.
Considering everything that has happened to him lately.
- Yes, yes.
I mean, with everything I've, I've been seeing in the news,
I can only imagine.
And oh, how were things between you guys when,
when you spent time together the last time?
- You know, those two go together
like oil and water.
[upbeat music]
- Well, look who it is,
the pussy of the week.
- Huh?
What?
- W-E-A-K.
- So, how's it going, Rich?
- Oh, not too bad.
Baltimore's beating Cleveland's ass.
It's swing you three.
- Right on.
So, where's my drink?
- Coming right up, motherfucker.
Hey, hun, get my buddy a drink, would you?
- I am not your hun.
- Can you believe this chick, man?
Probably eats pussy.
So, how thing's been after the funeral anyway?
- Well, just taking it one day at a time, you know?
- Sure, I guess.
Rich, when's your sister coming to town?
- Day after tomorrow.
And no, you can't fuck her, dude.
- I didn't even say that.
Get your fucking mind out the gutter.
- Oh, my mind?
Dude, I can smell yours from a mile away, dick cheese.
- Yeah, she'd fuck me.
Kev, you've seen his sister, right?
- No, I don't think so.
- Ah, here you go, champ, drink up.
- Where's mine?
- Uh-uh, hot shot,
your ass is getting next round.
- I'm fucking almost broke, man.
Come on, cut that shit.
- How are you almost broke?
You make enough money for all of us.
- I got laid off, okay?
I got canned.
They had major layoffs yesterday.
I was at the top of the chopping block.
- Dude, that's a bummer.
Tell you what.
Hey, sugar tits, bring my boy a deer.
What the fuck, babe?
There goes her tip.
[upbeat club music] [indistinct chattering]
[soft suspenseful music] [indistinct chattering]
- [Jan] Should we go back into the breakup with Lana?
- I feel that situation explained itself
far better than she or anyone else could,
especially considering what I saw at her apartment
that night.
- Do you still have feelings for her?
- Yeah, but not in the way you might be expecting.
Those feelings can be down right nasty at times.
And certain day, you know, it's a reminder
of how I failed to pay attention
to the bright red flags from day one.
- Yeah, and, and what did you see at her apartment?
- I didn't fully understand what I saw, honestly,
to compare that to the behavior
from the person I was presented with
for the duration of that relationship,
there was no way.
And all the things she was saying,
I left there that night with polarizing feelings.
I walked into a disaster area.
It was a total mess.
I saw a woman pulling her hair out,
making no sense, you know?
As if there was something to hide.
Something that was just exposed against her will.
I still wonder if that was just creative writing?
- Hmm.
It sounds like she had some demons of her own,
and you told me how much she loved writing.
So, you know, it sounds like she was a bit too wrapped up
in her own work, as well as not being able to process
her depression, right?
I mean, it, it does happen to the, to everyone
and it really makes it harder when you have problems
of your own to be so,
so much in a heavy relationship, right, Kevin?
- Yeah.
And while I was investigating
what was going on with her,
I stumbled into what's going on
with the rest of the world too, which includes me.
- You know, you've come to some kind of conclusion, I guess?
- I've concluded that most people
will do just about whatever it takes to be validated.
[birds chirping]
[soft ethereal music]
[soft beat music]
[soft beat music continues]
- Yeah, she gotta get out here and make daddy some money.
Yeah.
[soft beat music continues]
[soft beat music continues]
- You looking for a ride? - Hmm, sure.
What do you do?
Going to some kind of party?
- Babe, that's all I do is party. [laughs]
Get in. [door opens]
- You look like my type. [door closes]
- Okay, so, why don't we get outta here
and see what else we can split.
- That motherfucker looking weird as fuck thought.
But I don't give a fuck, as long as she come back
with my motherfucking money.
So, yeah, here go that hoe right now.
Here she go right now.
Hey, what up, bitch? - Hey, daddy.
The coast is clear.
- The coast is clear? - Yes.
- Well, I tell you what, bitch,
you better make sure you have all my money.
You got me?
For real, you got me?
- Yes, daddy. - Okay.
And you better make sure you clean that pussy
real good, okay?
Because I don't want that shit dripping all over
my Italian leather when I come pick you up later
and get my bread, you heard me?
- Yes, daddy. - All right.
Now, go ahead and handle your business, bitch.
I hit you later.
[woman crying]
- [Woman] No.
No! [crying]
- What wrong, huh?
Not the kind of party you're looking for?
Why you sobbing?
What's wrong?
- No, please, let me go. [crying]
- I'm going eat your brains.
[woman screaming] [Kevin laughs]
I'm just playing with you. - No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- Oh, you fucking piece of shit.
[woman crying]
Okay, come on.
[Kevin knocks] [door opens]
[woman crying]
- No! [crying]
[Kevin grunts]
- Tonight might be your lucky day.
Because tonight, we're giving life again.
[upbeat music]
The light guns.
Yeah, because they're loud, quick,
and everybody is afraid.
But I'm lazy, see,
because I don't have to touch people like you.
[upbeat music continues]
[woman screaming]
- No, no, no, no, no, no. [screaming]
No!
No! [crying]
No! [crying]
[woman screaming and crying]
- Tonight, you have an opportunity.
- No. [crying]
- An opportunity to get away with your life.
- No!
- I'm gonna give you to the count of five.
- No! - Try your damnedest to run.
- [Woman] No!
- Five.
Four.
Three.
[gun booming]
[woman screaming] [woman crying]
[gun booming]
Goddamn, I love this jam.
[upbeat music continues]
[bag crunching] [footsteps crunching]
[bag crunching] [footsteps crunching]
[Kevin grunts]
[shovel clanking]
[Kevin snorts and spits]
[shovel crunches] [soil crunches]
[shovel crunches] [soil crunches]
[shovel crunches] [soil crunches]
[upbeat dramatic music] [shovel clatters]
- Dammit Chad, you better not drink and drive.
- Now, why is that, Sandy?
I thought you loved me.
- What-the-fuck-ever, shithead.
- Listen, you don't fuck Russians and I won't drink.
[upbeat dramatic music continues]
[gun clicks]
- I never cheated on you.
Just wanted to make you jealous.
Currently, you don't pay attention to me.
- Sandy, my sweet Sandy.
Of course, I love you.
[upbeat music continues]
[Sandy laughs]
[gun booming] [Sandy screaming]
[Sandy panting]
- Don't you fuckheads know?
There's a noise ordinance here.
[Sandy screaming] [gun booming]
[upbeat dramatic music continues]
[door opens] [alarm beeps]
[upbeat music continues] [alarm beeps]
- Is this what you think happened between you and Lana?
- That's initially what had triggered all of it.
But this applies to everyone.
Everyone from the top high school athlete,
all the way down to your typical prostitute.
Everyone deals with adversity or failure differently,
but most don't do it healthy.
So many people aren't even taught how to deal
with failures in a healthy fashion.
Hence the mismanagement of extreme emotions.
- You know, Kevin, as we get older
sometimes we have a tendency to not process our emotions
as well as we used to.
Have you ever felt that as you've gotten older,
the way you handle certain situations
has become more difficult?
- [News Reporter] Over the weekend,
a 38-year-old mother was shot
and killed inside her apartment.
- I don't fucking get it.
- Get what?
- [Jason] Why can't these worthless cops
catch these assholes?
- It takes time, man.
Remember Richard Ramirez?
Took the cops over a year to find him.
- Dude, that was in the fucking '80s.
No excuses.
- What do you think makes a guy do all that stuff?
- [Rich] Hypersensitivity?
- What do you mean?
- Well, I'm just saying that it's possible
that he just had a shitty childhood.
I mean, maybe he grew up in a life of, I don't know,
abuse and neglect or, but who knows what.
- So, what was Manson's excuse?
- Well, Charles Mason didn't kill anyone, man.
Remember his dirty hippies did it for him.
- Ain't that something?
Hippies killing people.
- Well, what about Ted Bundy, man?
I mean, he didn't have shitty a childhood.
He just started killing women,
'cause he probably watched too much porn or something.
- So, you think watching people fuck
is gonna make someone kill? - Yeah, dude,
if they're not getting enough action,
dude, these goons aren't getting laid.
That's their whole problem.
- No way, man.
Porn's the only thing stopping some people from killing.
- Okay, maybe you. - Oh shit, check this out.
- [News Anchor] It shows what they believe
to be the killer himself caught on camera.
As you can see, he's wearing some kind of face paint-
- Well, guys, you were wrong about this one.
- Resembling the devil- - About what?
- Well, he is obviously a complete fag.
- Based on what?
- No straight guy goes dancing around
in a parking lot like Julie fucking Andrews.
- Oh, come on, man.
I don't think it's that simple.
I mean, I still stand by my original statement.
I mean, the guys obviously not getting enough dick.
- Dude, gays just don't kill nine women like that.
And they'd go after boys like Dahmer did.
Besides, pretty sure it's easier for fags to get laid.
- Oh, man, I think sensitivity's still an issue here.
The way he's dancing in the streets like that.
- [Jason] Bullshit!
He just needs to put some hair on his nuts
and man the fuck up.
- [Rich] Oh dude, what if he's your neighbor?
- Oh, the guy you never see come outta the house?
- Yeah. - What the fuck
is wrong with you two?
There's no way a guy with a family runs around
killing people while dressed in a Halloween costume.
- Telling us- - Dude, I have no idea
why the hell we're still talking about this shit.
- [News Reporter] She's been identified as one,
Sarah Wise, of Munroe Falls.
- Jesus. - Her immediate family
has listed her missing for the last few days
and police are questioning the friends and family
about the incident.
Mark, when you have more information-
- Why the fuck is my sister on the TV?
Why? [crying]
- We don't believe- - It's a lie, okay?
It's a fucking lie!
- Whoa, whoa.
- Come on, man, we'll get you home.
We'll figure out more, all right, come on.
- Shut the fuck up.
Shut the fuck up. [crying]
I have to get outta here. [crying]
[door opens]
- I'll call you later, man, I gotta get him home.
[door closes]
[suspenseful music]
[bottle clinks]
[Kevin wrenching] [footsteps squeaking]
[suspenseful music continues]
[suspenseful music continues]
[suspenseful music continues]
[suspenseful music continues]
[suspenseful music continues]
[suspenseful music continues]
[suspenseful music continues] [door swooshing]
[suspenseful music continues]
[suspenseful music continues]
[door closes]
[Kevin laughs] - Oh God.
What?
Who the hell are you?
I'm calling the police.
- The police?
You know the police?
Name one [indistinct]. [laughs]
- Oh my God. [crying and screaming]
- What the fuck?
Give me that. [woman crying]
Fucking coat hangers?
Are you kidding me?
- Don't you know my son is the mayor?
- What?
Your son's the mayor?
- Yes.
You need to get out of here right now.
- Isn't that special? [woman crying]
- Leave me alone.
Leave me alone.
- Let's go for a little ride. [laughs]
[woman crying] [suspenseful music continues]
You can cry all you want.
But we're still going for a little ride?
Matter of fact, I got a nice little surprise for you.
Yeah, this is perfect, right there.
[woman crying]
Let me ask you a question.
Feel like going to a barbecue?
[Kevin laughs] [woman sobbing]
[Kevin laughs] [woman crying]
[fire sizzling] [suspenseful music continues]
[fire sizzling] [suspenseful music continues]
[fire sizzling] [suspenseful music continues]
There's a stark beauty in having depression.
It is not the disease as society claims.
It's awareness.
The awareness that humanity has a backstabbing crabs
in a bucket nature.
And that the concepts of love, kindness, and loyalty
are just cheap pyramid schemes to abuse.
[woman crying]
You can see right through most people
and others wear very thick masks
that they can only hide behind for so long.
The depressing side of this awareness that most feel,
is the loneliness that comes with it as you age.
[suspenseful music continues]
The realization that you may very well be alone
for the rest of your days and the perils of your mind
driving everyone away.
But these are feelings that can be resolved
with the care and worship of only one being.
[woman crying] [Kevin grunts]
Yourself. [laughs] [bat thuds]
Depression is not created through a mere chemical imbalance,
is created through social conditioning
caused by our degenerate society.
We're all conditioned to believe that we need people
and we need things in our lives to validate us.
We don't.
Through isolation,
no phones, computers, internet, TV, radio,
people, et cetera.
You have the ability to focus on only yourself
and to find out the root cause
of what's causing these negative feelings.
Then you can deprogram them.
You may also find out who you really are as a person.
The world and the people around you
will never get any better.
In fact, it will become much worse.
But you can become better than you were yesterday.
After all, it's your life, isn't it?
[suspenseful music ends]
[upbeat guitar music]
[guitar music continues] [gun clicks]
- I am ready for pie, dad.
- Yeah?
You ready?
- Y'all done, love?
- Mm-mm. - Yeah, all right.
I'll give you four minutes.
You done, honey? - Hey, guys.
[door closes]
Sit down.
Down!
Nobody moves,
nobody dies.
[hand taps]
[footsteps tapping]
[floor squeaks]
What's this, huh?
"Live, laugh and love?"
You guys live by this crap?
[glass shatters]
[floor squeaks]
[Joan gasps]
[floor squeaks]
Well, what's this?
"Let Jesus take the wheel."
What's that supposed to mean?
[footsteps tapping]
Don't you guys have a license to drive your own lives?
I've got a good one for you.
If you can dream it, you can do it, yay!
So, if that were the case,
why the fuck would you give Jesus the goddamn wheel?
[Joan sniffles]
[chair swooshing] [footsteps tapping]
[Kevin sighs]
[flask taps] [liquid sloshing]
[flask taps]
- Look, what do you- - Shut up!
Why don't you have any pets?
- [Joan] I'm allergic.
- This suit is covered in cat hair.
Why aren't you sneezing?
Do you have any hides?
What else are you lying about?
Why don't we just find out.
[phone taps]
What's the passcode?
The passcode?
All right.
I'm gonna take a guess.
Five, four.
- 4321. [gasps]
- Oh my God.
- All right.
Pretty good guess on my part, huh?
All right.
Let's see here.
Brother Jimbo,
Papa,
Sarah Lee, Betty fucking Crocker. [chuckles]
Rick Heart.
Hey.
Wow, this is getting really juicy.
Dad, did you know anything about this?
Who's Rick Heart?
Is that his real name?
Or do you just spell it with that little heart emoji
because you love his cork so much?
You know, that's how it starts, right?
I love the cork so much
and everything gets all fluttery and shit.
I've been there.
Never married, you know, just a few wives, but still,
[sighs] you just can't trust them
any further than you can lick them. [laughs]
Hmm?
You see that picture, dad?
- Oh my God.
- Oh, God.
[phone taps]
- Let's see your phone, super dad.
Cough it up.
[phone taps]
All right, ooh.
Oh.
- I knew it, Stewart.
I knew it.
- She knew it. - I didn't have a choice.
My mother was dying and Rick was there for me, and you were-
- I don't understand.
- I'm sorry. - I don't understand.
- You were here. - Well, Joan,
there's nothing in his phone.
Yep.
Joan, you're off the hook.
[gun booming] - Mom! [screaming]
- Shut up. [gun booming]
- Oh my God.
- You see what happens when you live in neglect?
You throw away the things that matter the most.
And now, that I'm pressed for time,
I'm gonna get straight to the point.
Joan wasn't full of excuses.
She didn't need them.
She had reasons.
And although what she did wasn't fair,
it wasn't wrong either.
See, she broke the vow in one way
and you broke it in another.
Marriage is an unnatural contract bonded by fear.
You don't own anyone, okay?
Only yourself, and that's all you're responsible for.
Wife works late with the boss,
little kid left at home all alone.
And now, I'm here for dinner.
Typical all American family.
You couldn't even bother to stop me, could you?
You know why?
You don't have any balls.
Now, I'm gonna go ahead
and take the one thing you wasted in vain.
Your life. [gun booming]
- Let me ask you something, Kevin.
Have you ever felt dependent on substances
to get you through your issues?
I mean, do you feel that your drinking habits
might be manipulating your perspective on things?
- No.
But I know people who do.
- Kevin, we both know
that you have a drinking problem, okay?
It's clear the moment you walked in
that you were injured from whatever you were doing,
and it was alcohol induced, was it not?
Kevin, please, honest with me.
- You, you remember the first time
you were offered to smoke weed,
or the first time you were offered a drink at a party,
what would be the allure
to the inebriation in the first place?
An altered state of mind
as opposed to reality?
If you really think about it,
addiction is brought on by the need to ignore all of this,
or to at least take a quick break.
And sure, a chemical addiction is a physical transformation
over a period of extended abuse.
But the addiction, mentally,
it was already there, but how?
- [Woman] Lany?
Lany, wake up!
Lany, wake up.
Lany?
Lany, wake up.
Lany, wake up.
- Mom?
- Keep your voice down. [shushing]
- Where are we? - Keep your voice down.
- What? [Lany's mom shushing]
- Listen, listen to me, honey.
I don't know where we're right now,
but I need you to, I need you to stay calm
until I can figure out, figure a way to get us out.
Listen, listen, can you move your wrists?
- I think so.
- Okay, okay, listen, I think I can,
I think I can pull this tape off.
I just, listen, I just need you to,

and as always you can keep to yourself,
but I'd like to know, do you or your friends
have any faith, belief, or religion?
- I've always tried to believe in God ever since childhood.
You know, I would be told to pray when I wanted something.
Sometimes it was for toys or some bullshit like that.
And obviously it doesn't work that way.
But even as an adult, no prayers were ever really answered.
And when something like that happens,
especially as a developing teen
or a young adult in this world,
you can't help but to wonder if it's just you. [sighs]
As if you were a castaway, unwanted by God in a world
full of people telling you how wonderful heaven

I was never as interested in money

pretty high as a result.
Man, those were some good times.
- Let me ask you, have you ever thought about
the consequences that you had on others
while you did what you did?
- Yeah, of course.
Sometimes that was the point, though.
Remember what I said about God?
It seems we've replaced that concept with law,
but we still carry on with how God will save us.
Why should we need any of that?
We create our own criminals anyhow.
Remember what I said about drugs?
- So, you believe that
because the concept of God has no valid place in our society
and that we are governed by a system,
that we should have our own sense of justice
based on each individual?
It sounds like a bit of anarchy to me.
- No.
It feels like anarchy to you right now,
because you don't understand the several different holes
in our justice system are flawed mainly from greed anyhow.

I had to see through someone that seemed

I mean, I could understand what I was feeling

Who do you idolize?
- [Instructor] So, what makes a suppressor suppress sound?
Basically what you're trying to do is trap the gases
and delay their release from the gun.
So, you can do that by providing a large volume suppressor,
making a really, really big suppressor.
But that's not always the most practical thought
because that's gotta be on the end of your rifle
and it makes it harder to carry.
You can also do it by getting intricate with your designs
