Original subtitles

Lieutenant Harkin, did you know Code One priority files have been hard copied and

removed from our SFXG secured system?

Yes, sir. We've been revamping our computers to run independently of

MILCOM. Strike force capabilities, troop activation plans, national defense,

satellite early warning systems.

These aren't exactly stats on how many rolls of TEP the military used in March.

Colonel Russell, I'm sorry, sir. I can assure you there was no security breach

and the material has not been compromised.

I like you, Harkin.

You've done an excellent job since you started here.

There must be some perfectly rational explanation for all this. Yes, sir.

I'm relieving you of all your duties.

Your reinstatement will depend on Internal Affairs and their decision.

Sir, I don't think that's... Harkin!

That's the way it is.

And you better get used to it.

Dismissed.

Please, sir, if you would just... I said... Dismissed.

Permission to speak freely, sir.

What... What's she doing?

Harkin?

What are you...

Perkins, look!

In 1564, Nostradamus predicted the destruction of Earth in three terrifying

waves. The first wave is here.

My name is Cade Foster.

These are my journals.

They killed my wife, framed me for murder.

Now I run, but I don't hide.

With the prophecies of Nostradamus as my guide, I seek them, I hunt them.

I will stop the first wave.

Special Forces Colonel John Russell died suddenly of extreme internal

temperatures.

literally boiled to death.

And his first lieutenant, Alex Harkin, disappeared immediately after.

Harkin was suspected of being a deep cover spy and was due to face an inquiry

before his hasty exit.

Quatrain 18, century 10.

The town will not ring its cracked bell, but the hero has gone astray.

The crimson banner lures the one and the many.

With each victory, so will victory undo.

Lieutenant Harkin, West Point grad, and twice decorated for heroism, hailed from

Philadelphia, home of the cracked Liberty Bell.

More importantly, he was also the winner of the Red Flag, a little-known award

given to the best of the best in the military.

The Crimson Banner and the hero gone astray are both mentioned in

Nostradamus' quatrain.

I want to know how the Red Flag and the aliens are connected.

Eddie and I cooked up some AAA credentials, and I became one of five

contenders for this year's Red Flag competition.

Time for me to be all I can be.

I thought there were five of us.

Yeah, so did I.

Hubba hubba.

I think I see numeral five approaching at three o'clock.

Yeah, well, low legs.

You said red flag wasn't going to be any fun.

Let's go, let's go. Hustle up.

Red flag candidates.

Fall in.

Sit up.

Prepare yourselves to meet your CO, Major Birch.

Red Flag is a tradition, gentlemen and ladies.

It's a high honor, a distinction.

Red Flag is an opportunity for the best and brightest to realize their maximum

potential and to serve our nation in a high-level capacity.

So maybe someone can tell me why the hell, out of 243 hopefuls from every

outfit in the armed forces, they sent me your sorry asses.

You think I'm wrong?

You've got 72 hours to prove it.

Two days of intensive training with individual point scores.

On the third day, you will compete against each other for the red flag.

Your points and the flag will determine the winner.

Do I make myself clear?

Yes, sir, Major, sir!

Second Lieutenant Jordan Vincent.

101st Airborne, expert at demolitions, tactical strategy.

Thinks he's here for a good time.

Ain't gonna be laughing in three days.

Yes, sir, Major, sir!

First Lieutenant Joel Langley.

West Point. Army Delta.

Two stints at Field Ops in Kentucky.

They must have lowered the bar over there.

Oh, you're smarter than you look.

Yes, sir, Major. Sir!

Second Lieutenant Amy Lopez.

Reinforced recon degree in law.

Maybe you're expecting a special treatment here, Lopez.

Or else you're gonna sue me. No, sir! Major, sir! We make up our own rules

here, Lopez.

We answer to nobody.

Remember that?

There's Lieutenant Trevor Payne.

Naval Academy Annapolis, Trident Scholar, Navy Intel, fluent in three

languages, including Mandarin.

Fourth generation at Red Flag.

Some kind of overachiever, Payne?

Yes, sir, Major, sir!

What have we got here?

First Lieutenant Martin Sloan.

Special operations.

Asia, Somalia, Bosnia, Falklands, two tours in Central America.

You don't look like much of a soldier to me, Sloan. Must have been collecting

postcards. Yes, sir.

I never trusted any special ops types.

And you're just too good to be true.

Let me keep my eye on you.

Listen up.

I'm going to make you tired.

I'm going to make you hurt.

I'm going to make your empty and worthless lives a living hell.

So if you're thinking, maybe I don't really want that red flag,

now's the time to get back on that bus.

While you're here, no visitors.

No outside communication.

No ins, no outs.

If the NPC you outside the active perimeter, you'll be arrested on sight.

Don't test me on this one.

Welcome to Red Flag.

Check your bags.

You'll be issued gear.

If you need anything else, ask Sergeant Instructor Climpton. He runs this

operation.

No outside communications.

That means no phones.

Listen up, that goes for all of you.

So, Sloan.

Spent some time in Central America, huh?

Honduras. Yeah, that's right.

You know, I had a friend down there, 16th Infantry, Wilson.

You ever meet him?

Wilson?

No, I don't think so.

That's right, 16th Infantry wasn't in Honduras.

Was it?

Then I definitely didn't meet him.

Lopez, why don't you and me bunk together?

I'll give you special treatment.

Hey, Vincent, you sure you got what it takes? I wouldn't want you all worn out

and on that bus tomorrow.

Why don't you both save yourselves a heap of trouble and get on that bus

together? You wannabes ain't got a hope in hell.

The red flag is mine. You got it?

Yeah, whatever.

Kiss my butt. Yeah, yeah.

That includes you two heroes.

Hey, you just keep talking, Langley.

We'll just see how long before you run out of air.

Yeah, that's right, Payne. We will.

Fourth generation, huh?

That's a lot of pressure.

Family honor, all that?

Yeah, maybe.

Your whole family in the military?

Most of them.

My CEO recommended me for this.

I'm not even sure what the deal is with Red Flag.

All you gotta know is this.

You win Red Flag, you write your own ticket.

Oh, yeah?

So just say, for instance, I didn't want to travel anymore.

Then I'd put you behind a desk.

Pentagon, Bureau, Joint Chiefs, whatever department you want.

Is that right?

You said Wayne isn't everything.

It wasn't me.

You're physical and mental. You're here because you think you can hack it.

My job is to create a stressful environment and make you perform at

optimum capacity within that environment.

If you cannot perform, Lopez, then go home.

Agility and endurance.

Sloan hits the dirt too late.

Ten-point deduction for killing himself.

Ever heard of the words team player, Langley?

Let's get something straight, Navy boy. I'm here for one thing, and one thing

only, that red flag. I'm not here to make friends.

Langley, 1105.

Not bad.

The rest here I want to see better.

Sloan?

Dead last at 1219.

Not good enough.

Tactical scenario.

An urban center.

A building occupied by conventional opposing forces.

See the attached report from Recon regarding Op 4 stats.

The five of you make up your team.

Your objective is to engage and overtake your primary target.

with minimum casualties.

You will be graded on your essential task list, operational security and

procedure analysis.

Use your heads.

I'm not looking for the school solution.

You got that?

So make the most of your time, soldiers, because you ain't hitting those bunks

until every last one of you is finished.

Begin.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Hey Foster, where are you?

I'm starting to get worried about you. There's no outside calls allowed, so I'm

hiding in the shower.

Only had two hours of sleep, but I'm here.

So was the quad train right?

Oh, they're definitely here, Eddie.

I found one of those alien transfer machines.

An husk.

Looked like Harkin. The lieutenant who murdered his colonel disappeared.

You think they could have transferred the Harkin consciousness from that husk

into another one?

Certainly looks like it.

But who? Could have been anybody.

That could be your fellow flagman, my friend. Yeah, but which one?

Do me a big, really handy rod check on them for me.

Yeah, well, I'm already on it. I swiped the profiles from a Milcom database.

Vincent Lopez, Trevor Payne, Langley.

They're all A1.

Although Langley's stat sheet was a little harder to wrangle than the rest.

Langley's the one I'm wondering about.

He'll do anything to win this thing.

Well, I'm trying to corroborate his background. A lot of it's classified.

All right.

I also checked on a Major Birch, and especially a Sergeant Plimpton, where I

found the Huskers in his domain.

Gotcha. Also, Eddie, I found another room, a computer room full of files.

Some of them dated all the way back to 1862.

That's the Civil War.

What's the connection here, buddy?

Harkin, Red Fly, the Civil War.

The aliens are here, but why?

Officer, listen to me. Get out of there.

I can't leave yet, Eddie. I don't know who the aliens are.

Or how much of this they control.

I gotta go.

Whoa.

I didn't know anyone was here.

Not that it matters.

Thanks for the hand yesterday.

No problem.

Not many women make it here, you know. None that I know of.

I was top military recon.

Then I got stuck in legal affairs.

Winning this could help me move into the operations arena.

Legal affairs?

I spent two and a half years in courtrooms.

Believe me, you don't want to be there.

Oh, I believe you.

So slim.

Maybe we can be a team.

Watch my back, I'll watch yours.

What do you say?

Let me think about it.

Don't think too hard.

Your objective is to reach this enemy post unseen.

Congratulations once again.

You have just sent out an APB to the enemy. Here we are. Come on over and

kill us. All of you, get down and crawl.

Hands and knees.

I want to see your faces in the dirt until you can show me some semblance of

strategy and mental alertness.

Let's go, let's go, let's go.

Come on, people. Life is at stake here.

Just like Honduras, huh, Sloan?

Maybe this will motivate.

You want to successfully negotiate

red flag?

You better show some enthusiasm for the task at hand.

Remember, stress can be a positive force.

Use it as a motivator.

Make it work for you!

Hey, Lopez.

How's about you and me?

We get together when this is all over, huh?

How's about you shove it, Vincent?

Anytime, babe.

I saw you leave your bunk last night.

Why?

No reason.

Just looking around.

You're right.

What do you think I was doing?

I don't know, but from what I've seen so far, some people do anything to win Red

Flag.

I guess your family must have thought this thing was worth winning, huh?

Otherwise, I wouldn't keep coming back here.

That's right, Sloan. My family likes to win.

No guts, no glory.

Well, you are who you are.

Does winning this make that much difference?

What's your deal, Sloan?

Do all special ops guys ask this many questions?

The only guy I ever heard of winning the red flag was Harkin.

Well, his boss dies.

He goes AWOL.

I'm just wondering how a West Pointer, a red flag winner, could get caught in a

situation like that.

Well, I don't know the answer to that, Swan.

But I can tell you this.

Red flag is worth winning.

Not too many people know about it.

Those who do, people will count.

What are you doing up here?

Nothing, sir.

Thought I might lie down for a few minutes.

The hell do you think this is?

A vacation?

I'm on to you, Salome.

And I don't like it.

You understand me?

Now move it!

As of right now, these are the standing.

Delay. Grab her pain.

Followed by Langley, Lopin, and Vincent.

Not quite as we have in law.

This river is rated a five, a six with runoff.

In order to cross it requires exceptional strength, talent, grace, and

dedication, traits I am dying to see displayed in your sweet young thing.

Get out there, Penn!

Okay, Sloan, let's see those mitts.

Ow, you got burned bad.

Does it hurt?

You kidding? It hurts like hell.

Don't you worry.

I'm going to make it all better.

It's like somebody burned through that with a laser.

Trevor could have drowned.

You're a hero, Sloan, for now.

Enjoy it while you can, huh?

Foster, you sound terrible.

Had a near miss today. Trevor Payne is the number one contender. Someone tried

to take him out.

Who do you think did it? Well, it's hard to say.

I'm sure Plimpton had something to do with it.

Langley, maybe.

Hey, well, I got some news.

You're gonna love this.

I looked into that Civil War angle.

I talked to this expert in Bonner Springs, Kansas.

He's a fellow conspiracy theorist.

He believes that Red Flag is part of an independent military subsect not

governed by the usual checks and balances of placement and promotion.

Yeah. A fast track into a high-profile position.

It gets better.

See, Red Flag was created by Lincoln during the Civil War.

1862. The same year as the file that you found.

When it was discovered that Confederate spies had infiltrated the military.

Then the aliens could be doing what the Confederates were doing 137 years ago.

Trying to get their spies, like, harkening to the military.

Only now they're using Red Flag to do it.

Exactly. See, it's like a military farm system.

Top seeds are drafted into the big leagues.

The crimson batter, there's the one of the many.

With each victory, civil victory undue.

If the aliens can use Red Flag to get their spies into the military, we've

lost this war before we even start fighting.

Foster, listen.

You gotta be careful.

We should get the authorities in there.

Eddie, I'm going to have to call you back.

Did you or did you not understand the words no outside communication?

Yes, sir, I did.

We'll see if you understand this.

You're under house arrest.

You are not to leave this building.

Are you catching my drift, Sloan?

Yes, sir.

I don't think you are.

Let me make it a little clearer.

You're no longer a contender for Red Flag.

You're on that bus tomorrow morning.

You're out of here, Sloan.

Where's Sloan?

Birch just busted him out of the program.

That's too bad.

I thought he was kind of cute.

Since when does Birch talk to you?

He doesn't.

I heard Bert's chewing them up.

Sloan got caught calling his mother or something.

Hey, Sloan.

I heard you're taking an early bus ride.

That's right, Langley.

I guess Bert had you figured out, Sloan.

You ain't got what it takes.

And how the hell would you know?

Because I do.

That's why I'm gonna win.

Well, good for you, Langley. Maybe you win enough of these things, you'll be

somebody someday.

That's it.

We got a red flag tomorrow.

It's not bloke.

Weirdo.

Remember what's with you.

Why'd you go get yourself kicked out of here?

You saw that Rome today, Trevor.

That was no accident.

Someone doesn't want you to win, Red Flag.

Yeah, like everybody in this room.

What of it?

There's a battle going on here bigger than any flag.

A real battle.

Life and death.

I don't know what you're talking about. Hey!

Cut the chatter and go to sleep.

Some of us have a big day tomorrow.

Do you know how dangerous it would be if an enemy infiltrated Red Flag?

Well, it's happening.

And I know who that enemy is, Trevor.

Who? Come with me and I'll show you.

No.

This means too much to me.

Just for an award.

How are the points at now?

Trevor Kane's gonna win.

Red flag all the way.

What happened to Sloan?

Broke the rules, so I booted him.

I'm not gonna let Sloan or anybody else thumb their nose at the flag.

If he wanted to win, he should have played the game right.

Special ops, my ass.

Yes, sir.

Our estimated actualization is 0.573.

It is unusually low since a human contender has displayed such a

pronounced aptitude.

In fact, he's currently leading the pack in point standings.

If we weren't replacing him, I would recommend taking him out.

No, sir.

I am only set to do one husk at a time.

Yes, sir. It's already been taken care of.

I was able to get a DNA scraping and we have grown a replacement husk.

No, sir. This will in no way jeopardize the operation.

Commander Burch is completely unaware.

Sir.

end of today, one of you will be in possession of Red Flag.

That will no doubt be the high point in your shallow and pampered lives.

Yes, sir, Major, sir.

The first quality of a soldier is constancy in fatigue and hardship.

Courage is second.

You know who said that?

Napoleon.

We're looking for individual effort here.

A final test of your enhanced physical and mental skills.

Sorry, sir.

There was a fire in the supply depot.

Anybody here seen Sloan?

I'd bet he's on that bus already.

I don't give a damn where he is.

He's got nothing to do with the mission at hand.

Now listen up.

You'll be dropped at separate locations.

You'll enter into what you can consider hostile territory.

You will consider each other the enemy and avoid contact.

4272422 North, 570414 East.

That point.

Here's your objective.

Red flag.

That's right, Eddie.

4272, 422 north and 5704, 14 east. What does it mean?

All right, it's called UTM, Universal Transverse Mercator. It's a metric

system the military uses for global positioning.

It's also called easting and northing, east of 180 degrees and... Enough,

Eddie. Where am I going?

Basically, you're going north.

Looks like the exact location of Red Flag is on a high ridge.

All right.

I'm going to try and get ahead, Eddie.

Set a trap.

Maybe today's the day we catch ourselves a guava.

I'll set a vector with alternating waypoints.

Keep moving and you'll come to higher ground.

Thanks, buddy.

I know who you are, Langley. I know you're one of them.

What a ho!

You're not healing.

You're not the Gua.

What? You're nuts, Sloan!

You're nuts!

I just want the red flag.

All right?

I'm already out.

Why don't you just put your knife away and let me go?

Okay?

Huh?

The gun down.

The hell are you doing, Sloan?

It's his red flag. I don't think so, Plimpton.

I know who you are.

I saw Trevor Payne's husk.

Heard you planned to replace him with an alien.

The question is who.

Lopez, I was wondering where you were.

What's with the gun?

Where's Vincent?

I don't know. I haven't seen anybody.

Except you, doll.

They've healed.

So it's you, Lopez.

You're the Gua spy.

Where's the Harkin? First it was Harkin.

Now it's Lopez.

And next it's Trevor King.

Hey, Trevor.

Hands on your head, Lopez.

Come on, Trevor.

He just doesn't want us to win the red flag.

And you deserve it, Trevor.

It should be yours.

Well, at least he's human.

If Lopez had won the red flag, the Gua would have been able to place

another one of their spies deeper than the military system.

With access to our defense secrets, they would have had the ability to destroy us

from the inside.

Eddie bombarded every branch of the armed forces with emails to try and

alert them to the Gua.

I'm hopeful that any evidence left at the proving ground will wake the

military up to the threat within.

No, sir. An investigation will not be necessary.

I don't know where the hell that phone is, but I can assure you he's not on

this base.

No, sir.

I don't know anything about any files or foreign-looking equipment.

Yes, sir.

If I do, I will contact you immediately.

Yes, sir.

Thank you, sir.

Trevor Payne made the choice to fight a more important war and give up the

prizes and medals that come with recognition.

Payne sacrificed winning the red flag to become a soldier against the Gua.

He's a believer now, and I count him as an ally.

A time will come when I will call forth all my believers and allies.

A time will come for us to end this war.
