Original subtitles

I'm going to be meeting the people at Caesars Palace.

I've such a long way to go with my voice.

I came to Vegas anyway. I said, "Why not check it out

"and make my mind up as I go?"

The anxiety was settling in a little bit.

But it didn't stop me from walking through it.

So that's how you prepare Vegas?

That's how I'm preparing for Vegas, yes.

This is gonna be fun.

Hear that?

You gotta feel that part.

This will be the most exciting part, right here.

Big vocals.

I'm the director director, who directs the music director.

The band waits and waits and waits and waits and waits on that bar.

Until I release and then the song carries on again.

We are in New York City, and we are in January,

we're at the very beginning. Actually, this is our first official meeting of January 2012.

And we are meeting creative directors today to

hopefully find our production architect.

We just got back from Christmas in the mountains with the snow.

And now I'm fat.

I was fat before that, but Christmas made me more fat.

And now I gotta hit the gym. I'm looking forward to it.

I'll be in good shape, don't worry. Nobody worry!

I'll be ready.

And just for the record, I'm not planning on having dancers in the show,

but watch, probably we will.

I'll probably end up with dancers.

I don't mind having dancers, as long as they can double as violinists.

- Hi, how are you? - Hi, nice to meet you.

I'm Raj, nice to meet you.

I'm Shania.

So, Fred, don't be worried about that.

You never know. Sometimes I say things, and a year later it actually happens.

And it's really... And then we never...

Someone'll say, "Yeah, God, I remember you talking about that."

And then we don't have it on film,

so it's really cool when you can connect the dots like that.

That's a big piece of equipment on that stage, there.

Yeah, I'm really excited about the screens

because a lot of the music,

or a lot of the bigger music that I have, the images are very...

They're well known, they're epic images, the imagery could be a really important tool

throughout the songs and throughout the segments,

so the screen is going to be creating a lot of drama.

- The image is already created. - l say drama too.

I'm Canadian.

You say drama?

Yeah, that's one of the words I always slip up on.

- Drama. Drama. - Drama.

So when I say strings it is not because I want to have a Frank Sinatra...

Shania does Frank Sinatra.

It's going to be the contrast that's already there

of all the fiddle parts I've already got in my songs...

- Right. - ...and magnifying it all.

So, my hair's normally here, it's now going to be here.

A horse isn't gonna be just any old horse, it's gonna be a Friesian.

Everything's gonna be... It's Vegas!

We have to do me, magnified.

My main thought was, how we could actually transform the space.

And create these moments of it feeling very epic,

and feeling very intimate.

I'm really trying to close down that space so all the focus is on you.

Somewhere in the middle I think we should just strip it all away,

whether pieces fly away, or we close it all down,

I think that would be very special to do in The Colosseum.

You land into the space and the entire thing transforms into the inside of a bar,

that peels away and now we're outside in nature,

to do something Western, but something fun, too.

And kind of reinvent what that actually looks like.

Yeah, my sister is going to be doing one of the backup front vocalists.

She doesn't play an instrument, she'll just sing.

She has no stage experience at all, it's going to be a really great experience.

Excited about that part because I've always had a female singer in the band

but now it's going to be like another me, which is what's on the records.

I have my work cut out for me.

But I have been practising, I have been rehearsing.

- What's the main part? What do you call that? - Melody.

That was good.

Carrie and I sound like the same person.

This is our first day of singing together, Carrie and I.

- I hit the wrong note? - Yes.

So that second week we can... Between me and Carrie...

Because it's complicated, the backing vocals.

It sure is.

- It's not a... - Just 000's and ah's.

- No. - That's it, yeah.

Let's be stupid.

That wasn't very nice.

- I'm doing it. - Right.

And I want to do it. And I know I can do it. But I know I can do it.

I will look good when I'm there.

- I don't right now, but I will. - Well, Carrie's gonna walk and run.

- I'm going to play tennis. - I've been doing it.

It's just on holidays, I haven't been.

She's gonna love watching this back.

And I thought since Carrie's in the show, and the idea of having her there,

other than the fact that I love her and want here there,

it's always just been a dream to be onstage with her.

To have a sibling blend with her is just going to be a musical dream come true.

But then I thought of this brother duo that I'm a big fan of

and I've loved for a really long time.

I thought, "Wouldn't it be amazing to have Carrie and I's blend

"and their sibling blend, and then join the show as backup singers with Carrie?"

So there would be two sets of sibling voices.

I just can't even think of anything more magical and spectacular than that.

And then I called my manager and said "Could you please reach out to see if

"this would even be interesting to them?"

No, Aunty Carrie's doing backup vocals for Mommy in the show.

And, so is RyanDan.

That's cool.

They are, like, freakishly...

So they are like the trio: RyanDan and Aunty Carrie.

- Hello! - How's it going?

So this is Ryan, I'm Dan, and we are background vocalists for Shania Twain.

We just got a call from Shania and she asked us to do the show.

- We didn't even think about it. - There wasn't even a question.

Well, that's what's amazing with Carrie.

Because we sort of sound so great together with Shania,

Carrie steps in and she has such a similar tone.

It's her sister.

So, it's really the two of them with the two of us,

it's just such a great blend. When we sing together I get goose bumps.

No, no. No, you just switched.

You stay on my part.

Try that again.

They're both totally top notch,

and both of them worked on some of the biggest shows in the world.

I think the difference is sometimes there is just the construction.

I just want to be responsible and professional about it, that's all.

It's not just light bulbs at all, it's actually video pixels.

I don't think anybody's ever done it like this.

That's what I want to hear, Raj!

Is that a running cost, or weekly, through rehearsals?

- Running cost. - Per show.

I think we're going to need our contingency,

because at that point we want to just go, "Wow,

"we really loved that, we want that bigger."

The horses in the show are very powerful.

And I've got to get reacquainted and back into the nature of being with horses,

so I'm in Iceland with probably, so far,

the friendliest horses I've ever met in my life.

I wonder if I should go for a pee first.

But where?

We need two electric lead guitarists.

I think Cory's trying to take my part.

- I'm honoured to have that type of genius... - I know.

...in my show.

The other thing we noticed, as well,

is there's been a lot in the press about Shania's

voice, and I know that she's been having vocal problems and things like that.

I would do it whether... For whatever, because I have to save my jaw.

Because my jaw is falling apart.

This is gonna change the way your teeth meet.

Even when you take it out.

- I can't talk. - You can.

So how was your day?

Okay. And this muscle back here,

which is one of the muscles that helps to open the jaw.

You see? I think you can sing with that.

Yeah, yeah.

Great. She looks good.

This is easier.

You're going to give yourself a back rub.

Stretch the eyes, okay?

Good!

She's doing different exercises, warm-ups in the morning.

She's teaching us all kinds of different exercises.

Bette Midler recommended, through my voice coach...

Oh, yeah?

And it's a pill, I don't know what it is, it's for dry mouth.

But it lubricates your throat.

- And it's a pill? - Yeah.

That's awesome.

But working with her, her voice is, literally, better than ever.

Well, I was so scared to do it.

I think just feeling insecure about

working with somebody so iconic, right?

And then, what I consider his most iconic song.

I'll get that right. I just need to be on the mic for that.

- See, that's... - I really do need to be on the mic for that.

I was having an internal meltdown.

Until I got to the point where I realised that I could actually do it.

Welcome back, Shania. Welcome back.

And by the way, I told you so. Thank you very much.

It's July, 2012, and we have to be on stage December, 2012.

So, I'm walking my butt off.

Instead of being in the gym, I'm outside in Switzerland enjoying the view

of the mountains, so this is a much better way of getting fit.

Oh, yeah.

- Right or left? - Left.

I'm the only one affected. I'm fighting my own battle here.

Because I'm the only one. First of all, you have to appreciate as my manager,

I'm wearing several hats.

So I'm creating and I'm trying to focus on all of that.

I've got to make sure that my audience goes home happy,

that I perform well, that everything's all good in Shania world,

in Shania artist world.

But at the same time, you know, I'm the only one with any risk.

- You got it. - Okay, talk to you later. Thank you.

Have fun with it. Don't worry about it.

- We'll figure it out. Thanks. Bye. - Okay. Thanks, bye.

So this is our first trip back to Vegas to stay.

We're moving in.

We're on our way to Vegas.

It's our first time!

I'm pretty excited.

I'm not doing an overhaul because we're only there two weeks at a time

when we're there. But we're there for two weeks at a time for two years.

We're lost. I told Fred, in two years, we're still not gonna know it.

Big golfer?

- Yes! - Look at that.

When do we know if it's even an option?

Of course it is, of course.

How can you beat that?

I'm so sorry about tonight.

- It's crazy, we... - Both our shows.

First we came here to see Elton and Celine...

We don't think anything like this has ever happened in Vegas in its history,

having two headliners

- back to back cancelled. - Imagine.

I remember doing costume fittings with you and you were so specific

on how you wanted everything to be on you.

And remember when we did dogs?

Of course! I was a poodle.

Oh, my God, I'm so excited!

I'm so happy to have you here!

Isn't this crazy?

Yeah, this is so much fun.

I think it's awesome that you film stuff.

- Yeah, you know. - That's awesome.

I'm ready to go another five hours.

- Yeah, that's great! - I did pick up speed there.

Yeah. Around that curve, I was like...

Good.

- Nice. - Good lift on the camera there,

it made it look even more impressive.

- Yep. - Okay, great.

I never really thought I would do Vegas.

I don't think I said I would never do Vegas.

Even if I did say I would never do Vegas,

I've the right to change my mind.

I think Vegas is a lot cooler now.

Always going to look my best in the show.

- Good exercise. - Beauty. It's stuck on the same song.

After two hours you don't even seem tired.

- But I don't want that. I was wrong. - Was it too much of a smile?

No, it's just a smile to an old friend.

- l want a smile to a happy fan that sees you. - Okay.

Hi. I'm Shania Twain and I'm teaming up with... Sorry.

Hi. I'm Shania Twain. And I'm teaming up with The Talk to give one lucky couple

the chance of a lifetime.

I think we got it.

- Up! - There you go.

Good boy!

That horse from yesterday...

That is like a knight.

That's not even a prince, that's a knight.

That is a knight right there.

A knight with testicles.

They have spirit.

I'm not sure how low risk he would be.

Hold that.

- So are you the other Shania? - Yeah.

- She is. - From here down.

Yes, thank you.

It's not fun being me, see?

That's why I'm laughing.

It is torture to be me, I totally relate.

What I'm worried about is the train wrapping around his leg,

when he's running.

You ready?

Yeah.

I think so.

I don't want you to be scared.

No, no, no. I want to try it.

It's more just...

- It's just a few factors. - No, I understand.

What I don't want is for him to jolt forward on me and I'm not ready.

So we're gonna go ride a black stallion through a forest.

It's true.

You're gonna see.

I'm just saying let's just get it.

Yeah, we're rolling.

That was fabulous. He was easy-peasy.

Just when he comes in, it's incredible.

I had to give him a kick to go fast. I wanted him to go fast.

And you're really riding him.

Yeah.

I'm really riding.

It's very cinematic, that is rock and roll cinematic.

Cut it!

Tilt down more. Tilt down.

At this point in the story, you were riding through a storm.

Lightning will strike right here, the horse rears up.

What about this?

You rear on the horse and then you can make a quick transition with her rearing up

on the back of her bike, or something like that.

That's not a bad idea either.

All right, Shania's a wrap, we will finish her tomorrow.

- That's the question. - Am I ready for what?

- The next meeting? - Yeah, I know. I am, I'm all right.

But I normally edit all of my own video stuff.

I enjoy the technical side of it.

It's part of what I do, actually.

It's not so much that I want to control, I think that

that's just an unfair perception of things,

that a lot of people do have of some artists.

- It's really just that it's my vision. - It's your baby.

So this is exactly half my face without makeup.

- And half still with the makeup. - Yeah.

My natural side and this is my...

Glamorous.

This is our creative presentation and this is hopefully close to the final.

We see Shania's body, but, again, it is a back shot of her...

Now we're at the opening of the show and Shania's revealed on the bike.

Michael actually made a model of the motorcycle.

Be careful, it's a little delicate but you can set it down.

That's pretty cool.

That's awesome.

- So, we'll show you all the... - A little prototype.

- It's got a kickstand. - Nice! It does have a kickstand.

That's awesome!

Right now we plan to do five total sets.

It's already been worked out live.

When they can and cannot leave their paddocks.

And we need Cory here for that.

And then when the glass breaks,

the wind gushes through the break

and as it comes out toward everybody

it's the new Shania fragrance in the air.

It's original, it is nothing you would see in a concert performance.

And why are we doing it? Because we have the room to do it.

We're gonna take that into a musical show

and walk through my story, if you will, in a very organic way.

And that's where all the contrast is. You can smell the horse,

you can smell the fire, you can feel the heat, the breeze.

And it's all happening to you, the snow is falling on you,

lifts, and all those other set things really are the least...

They're at the bottom of the list of priorities.

It's a birch forest setting, the horse is with me,

and there is a fragrance in the air.

And this is the fragrance.

You're attacking all the senses.

Look at the visual. Can you feel that?

A campfire. A campfire.

That's nice.

This is my entrance, okay? So when a woman enters a space,

part of her statement, even before you see her, maybe, you can smell her often.

The way a horse smells isn't the manure.

There's sort of a slight tone of that,

but it's more what comes off the body of the horse.

So when we break the glass, we're gonna break the glass when I enter.

- I'm breaking a glass. - Okay.

It's gonna shatter, and when that glass shatters

we're gonna have a breeze effect that comes through.

- You're gonna actually have a breeze? - Yes.

That's really good. That makes this easier.

That's just gorgeous. I smell the sandalwood.

I smell a little bit of muskiness in it, but it's...

It's just fresh, I don't know, I love it.

This smell?

That one's more Christmas than the other.

The snow is kind of killing the smell on that one so I'm saying snow is the one.

So this is a snow thing, the white birch forest.

It's going to snow on the audience

and onstage, and I want them to smell the winter.

I just think the people are gonna... The scents that they're gonna have,

the fragrances, they're not gonna realise they're smelling it at the time,

they're just gonna know that they're

enveloped in the experience.

'Cause they're not gonna know, nothing's indicated saying

"horse smell" or "forest smell" or "fire smell."

There's that bottle.

Which I thought was maybe just a bit too masculine.

- I think my favourite is probably this one. - Yeah.

It's just really stable.

I love this one but I don't think it's feminine enough, somehow.

It almost makes me want to make the perfume black to white.

Like a smoke to white.

Maybe we need to do night to day, or something.

It's perfect, night and day.

So smell the cap, and you can decide which one you want to wear tonight.

- That's night. - Okay.

And that is day.

- I like night. - Okay.

All the women like the night.

- Which do you prefer? - I like the night too.

All the men like the day.

So this is how we're thinking of achieving this.

Right now the stage is totally bare, there's no band,

no strings, there is no other set. It's Shania basically suspended in midair.

And we're thinking of doing this on a gimbal arm,

so you're not seeing the actual movement, it's behind the motorbike,

so as she's actually on the motorbike in the video, the motorbike is tilting,

and going in places but Shania's up in the air, there could be a little bit

of smoke effects and stuff to cover anything that we need to.

But it's Shania up in the air, like that high.

There's actually a better one that might...

I love this!

Super tripped out.

It's got that dominating... It's actually very sensual all the way through.

That's the Harley horse.

Pretty cool.

This isn't gonna give us a killer beam, but it sure looks correct when it comes out.

The fan you were asking about is here.

That's not bad.

It's a little rough over here, but it won't be a tornado,

and we can certainly move it to a better position.

We want to have some continuity as well.

I want to look like I'm really going somewhere,

like I'm on the horse, like there's intent.

I think the rotation needs to happen while I'm up on the screen,

because it doesn't make any connection

to me, I don't know.

- At the very last part? - Yeah, because...

And then I should just drop down.

The bottom's got to be billowing, I like the idea of the silk, the satin light,

the ice blue dress. 25 I love, I just love the whole idea of

you know, with the wide open shoulder,

the flowing bottom and the more structured bustier. I just think that's gorgeous.

I would go with pink on the first one, and I would go with

the fiery red on Man! I Feel Like A Woman.

You could work out the shirt to go over the collar.

As long as the shirt can rip off, you know what I mean?

I have to be able to rip the shirt off, so it can be done up at the back or whatever.

What I wanted to do with this hat is I wanted to wear it to a certain point and then

throw it into the audience and whoever catches it will be able to come backstage

and get it signed, so I'll be giving those away every show.

This is the fabric

for the Getcha Good look.

- A little bit of tummy. - Oh, my God, look at that!

Super hot.

- This is before fitness, by the way. - Come on.

It is! I'm not fit yet, I'm gonna be rocking by the time the show starts.

That's quite pretty, isn't it?

- It's prettier. - It's very nice, actually.

So this is pretty much

what it's going to be like.

Here, we did a little display for you.

So we have two beaded catsuits for you.

This one I did personally by hand, I put every bead on there.

It's a much lighter one, it's almost see-through.

This one was the original one that was done, this is all hand-beaded.

It took three months to do.

This was all done in India.

This we need a spotlight on it,

because when the spotlight goes on, it looks much brighter.

- That rocks. - Oh, my God, come on.

This is a voyage of discovery.

So was it always like that when you did videos with her?

This is much more difficult because of all the quick changes

and things that have to work.

One thing has to transform into another.

So itis a lot more difficult to get this to really work.

Everything here is matching. Everything is matching.

- Gonna be a nice... - That's what's so camp and cool

about this whole look, that everything's just...

I would just space them equally, sO wherever your ankle one sits,

this one should sit in the middle bit between this one and the ankle.

- Yeah. Amazing. - Okay.

Mark?

Okay, the alterations lady, as wonderful as she is,

she did something completely different to what I wanted to do,

and I just fear that I've made it much thicker inside.

We're gonna cut the piece out and put an elastic in it.

- She didn't cut the piece out. She added... - Would you... Let me suggest.

Would you like to cut that open?

- No, no, no. I think we're good now. - All right.

Good for her.

- Sorry. - No, I'm the one who's sorry.

- I'm just wanting to do the very best for you. - It's so gorgeous already.

Just looking at it again.

Go on either side of me, and just take the coat

to my shoulder while I'm singing.

You can't, see?

They take my mic.

But I'm singing.

- See what I'm saying? What do I do? - Do you need to hold a mic?

- They may have to hold the mic for me. - Yeah.

- All right, that's fine. - You hold my mic.

- Okay. - I'll hold my mic.

No.

Hold it.

You gotta put it to my mouth.

That won't work.

I'll be better. I'll get better. Come on, that was my first one.

You've gotta bring it to my... I mean, the dancers are bringing it...

- Take it to her mouth. - I got it, I got it. Okay.

I'm the production designer, and I'm trying to make the platforms for the band.

So we have keyboard, background singers,

drums, guitars and steel.

Bass, fiddles and cello,

and anybody else who wants to join on.

If they move like they're supposed to,

it's going to be great, because then Shania can have the band very close to her

or expand out or various combinations.

I've never done anything like it.

I've done all sorts of productions.

Usually they keep the band in one place and they want predictability.

Where is the band, where is the orchestra at all times?

But if Shania is willing, we're going to have a space that breathes.

She asked me to create a space that breathes and has dynamic range of movement,

so that's what the whole stage does.

Not just the show, not just the video,

but the band members and the scenery itself breathes.

Everything looks like natural world, organic kind of forms.

Well, we're in May now, so we're going to do the planning in June

and then we'll build our, construct all of our scenery in July and August.

So, we have a good length of time to go.

"I believe in me."

Yeah...

I'm insecure, it's just deep down in me.

It's my karma.

I was not born to be confident.

Yet, I'm in this place of

where I'm supposed to represent confidence, it's a strange conflict.

It's serious. It's a serious mental exercise.

- Today... - I sang so hard today.

I'm exhausted. I probably won't even be able to speak tomorrow.

If I can speak tomorrow, then my voice is in good shape.

I think it'll be harder just to stomp, stomp,

like you're, "Don't be stupid, you stupid idiot!"

The idea is not just like that.

You got to... It's more of a side thing.

- That'll work. - We have this idea

that as you walk through the door, it disappears to black,

and instead of us doing an Alice In Wonderland thing,

the leopard face would actually appear through the door

and then it would slam shut.

- Right. I know, yeah. - Okay.

Like, the horse can stay still.

- Yeah. - Like, it won't move at all.

- And then you go around... - I'll walk around it.

- You go around... - Great, yeah.

- And then touch his face like this, and then... - Yes.

- And then hug him... - Yes.

Who's in charge of when...

Who's in charge of communicating with Ramon and Sheridan?

- Well, myself and Bugsy. - Okay.

So, they've got to be heard, because look what happened.

That could be the end of that number.

Like just like that.

They've got to be heard the same way we treat all those when everybody goes,

"Nobody walk there! Don't go here."

And they boss us all around so that we don't get killed.

That applies to the horse. It's the same thing.

Did you see the letter pictures I sent you? The huge letters?

Yes, I did. Yes.

They're finishing the "S" and they're done.

Just that energy, we gotta pump up the energy, you guys.

Why do we need stands and microphones for you guys? Why is it necessary?

- No, it's not. - No, not you guys, I'm talking...

The musicians.

Is it just 'cause you don't like it, ors...

In my opinion, it's not going to sound any different.

It's a lot better for our ears to get right in a mic

and it sounds better. It doesn't have to be turned up as loud,

and we don't get as much bleed. That was our argument.

This is not at all what we're doing during the show.

We've got sets moving every 10 minutes.

When people in interviews say, "So Shania, do you wear wigs in the show?"

And then I say, "Is that a trick question?"

She's on a horse.

She's on a horse, she's on a horse, horsie, horsie, horsie...

Wind, wind, wind and close-up.

- Yup. Go ahead now. - Here come... Put your chin up.

Okay, not that up.

This hair is so beautiful.

I like it looking dishevelled.

Yeah, this is great, great shape. Do not lose this, spray it right now.

I feel very diva-ish.

Gotta watch those pins. Don't want my hair to go flying.

Now I feel like... What the hell that guy's name is...

- From The Flintstones. - Chewbacca.

You don't want it much bigger. You won't be able to fit through the door.

Wait, stop, let the hair in.

Chewbacca's here.

Hair looks good.

I just feel like we've got way too much right there.

The town is rising around you.

...just walking this way.

Straight along, this is your guide.

And then you'll stop.

Right here. And then the saloon is slowly rising in front of you.

Pretty much you're facing directly on a chair, like room four.

- I'm gonna have you... - My feet are not in this, right?

No, not even close.

I'll say, "Walk."

This is when you will start doing sidestepping,

and you start circling around this way.

Ready and pose! Fourth one, turn side. Fifth one, superstar.

We'll just cut earlier and edit it. Great!

Matthew, this is a fairly close shot,

so Matthew might want to look at the monitor.

What's happening is the camera is pulling back

and it'll seem like you're zooming by the camera.

You too, you're naughty too.

I think this is fantastic. We're just waiting on the leopard.

And then with the wind machine, it's going to be blowing all of this.

- Like this the whole time. - Yeah.

- This one. - This will be wonderful.

That's Diane Von.

These? So do these for sure.

- l want all three. Yeah. - You want all three? Okay.

What I think is that this'll be Carrie's dressing room.

If you want to ask me where the shampoo is, I'll tell you where the shampoo is.

You want me to set up a display of shampoo,

I'm going to set your shampoo up like there's no tomorrow.

But, you want me to...

- I'm not saying I won't do it... - It's hard.

But I'm kind of freaked out.

Maybe we need some wine for her.

No, I'll relax. It's just not...

- You gotta bring out that rock star. - It's not my thing.

Gotta bring out the rum.

- Just side to side. Not just like that. - Okay.

You gotta... 'Cause they're doing that

- and you need to be doing that. - Okay.

I am kind of freaking out a little bit, because I have trouble

concentrating on singing,

looking at the two people beside me,

'cause they're so animated and they're like

- in the groove. - Yeah.

So I'm trying to sing and move my feet.

- I should be a little more advanced than I am. - No, it's day nine, it's good.

But I'm actually moving, but then they added the little shaker,

so when I'm trying to concentrate on singing

- and the shaker... - Who added that shaker?

- My sister. - I see.

Carrie, you gotta use that shaker all the time.

So I've got the shaker and I just got my two-step down.

I just got that down, and singing, and then she added the shaker.

So then I'm doing the shaker, trying to sing, and my shaker's

off-beat and my feet are off-beat and I'm forgetting notes, so...

- We need to do that together. - Okay.

- And then I sing "a woman" by myself. - Okay.

- You said that to her. - You.

Are you ready?

- Then we're gonna have... - That's why we built the extra stage.

And then we were gonna have the two...

Potato rock.

Potatoes, no go.

We're setting up the first of the mobilators for Shania's show.

This is one of our floating mobilating cloud forms

that we're using to house Shania's band.

We are going to talk about choreography.

I don't know her name yet, I'm just going with his recommendation

because I'm not a dancer. As long as she's qualified,

that's all that really matters.

- Who's on? - Hi, I'm Mandy.

Hi there. We still want to be innovative, so we don't want to give them something...

It's familiar already, because it's a line dance, it's a saloon...

We want to set another trend. I'm not known for line dancing,

so this is a licence for us to create our own version of what that is.

What is Shania's version of a line dance?

We're there to make the audience happy, so when the audience leaves there,

they're happy!

No, it's good. It's awesome.

But that's how I see it. So we have an audience to please

and it's a very diverse one.

This all sounds so exciting. I'm really excited for you, too.

It's going to be an amazing show.

Yeah, I like her attitude.

Okay, hold on a second.

Oh, my God, this girl is so not the way I'm going to be moving.

I don't like that. I don't like it when I see it in shows,

and I don't want it for myself.

I just don't even like that...

No! I'm never going to be able to do that.

Are you guys out of your mind? No.

Choreographing them around what I'm doing,

but that's not what I'm going to be doing. I'll tell you that right now.

Let's get this back on track now.

I feel like that should be remembering again.

I'm sort of almost... It's like a country rap.

The song's all about lyrical attitude, and you guys should be doing something

more in contrast to country.

Which is hip-hop.

We're doing a little strings rehearsal, but the exciting part is that

the male dancers have to learn how to play the string part.

We're really trying really hard.

They didn't give us the rosin yet, but you know...

We're working up to that.

...you guys for a change.

- So excited! - l am proud around here.

All of us are literally grabbing you and grabbing...

Then I'll turn you like that. Yep, exactly.

Should we stop on the smack, smack?

- Yes, please. - She loves it!

That shit was hot!

Fred's smiling!

- It was hot! - Hot time!

- Is this hot? - I'm not touching her at all, man.

I'm just barely...

I feel like the movement behind you when they're really unison,

wherever you go, it's still going to look really strong

and gorgeous with him, so...

It needs to be very sexy.

You're letting this leg kind of release in its hip socket.

I feel like I'm resisting it,

so I'm not allowing it to go all the way out, I'm kind of resisting.

There you go.

There you go. It'll take a little practise, but not impossible.

Yes!

Exactly!

No, that works. That works. That's all going to work.

And we can lay it out just on a lyric sheet or whatever if you want,

"This is stage right, this is centre, this is stage left,"

and then you have the freedom to go wherever

but then the guys will at least know where you're going.

I love myself right now.

You guys doing the "Faster, faster."

Come in on "Rev it up."

- Okay. - I don't know why I said that so loud.

Two, three, four...

In, out, that's it!

Basically we're kind of saying it's lacking a lot of mid-range.

We're going to try and get through everything,

rough blocking for the entire show before we come back to this.

So tomorrow, my plan is to do the first four numbers of the show,

even though we don't have all the band risers,

but we can at least block everything here on stage,

lighting can start working and we can at least get through those four numbers.

It's still pretty concentrated though.

Yeah, it's coming kind of straight down.

You know what I saw yesterday? I said to Fred, I said,

"Fred, they've got mounted police here."

So the three police officers riding down the Strip,

and then that night, doing that once a week.

From here on, it's a trio... It's almost a trio.

- Right. - Of like...

...scenes going on with me...

- Lights got to go off and on... - Right.

...who is being featured, and then when they're both being featured,

- then the light's on both at the same time. - Right.

So if I could get you to do that...

We weren't doing any hits, that's the problem.

We just slide off the chord.

There really aren't any, though.

The last hit is...

- It's on that last hit. Only the last one's... - Exactly.

I think I need to start off mic.

Maybe slowly bring it in, because...

And then softer.

Oh, my God! Swoosh!

Yeah, all right!

Well, I don't know how many days it is before the first show,

but it's two days or something like that.

The sound isn't right.

We're having mechanical problems with the mobilisers,

so they're gonna have to be run manually today, which we were warned about.

But Michael Cotton was, "No, it's going to be fine."

We've come a long way.

All right.

There's a lot of positive things, it's just that I...

There's no point in focusing on the positive things right now,

I gotta focus on the things that aren't working and that need to be fixed.

Don't miss your entrance.

We're putting the final touches on the show.

We've been in rehearsals here at the Colosseum since November 9th,

and everyday there's been more elements added to the show and more refinement.

Costumes are amazing.

There's tons of great original video pieces that we filmed for the show.

Shania's band is made up of 13 members. Some of them are old, some are brand-new.

We have some really special moments in the show.

It's the first time Shania is singing on stage with her sister, Carrie.

Shania spearheaded the entire vision.

I think she had this whole show mapped out before we even started,

so we've been trying very hard to bring her vision to life.

I really... I've got the right guy. Let's put it that way,

'cause a lot of the wish list that I had when I walked into our first meeting,

I thought was probably very wild dreams.

But really, he's made it happen.

So that's really exciting for me, and I'm very proud of you

and all the work you've put in, and I'm very proud of everybody that's involved

in pulling it all together, and it was a pretty wild dream.

We put a whole different spin on it,

we've kind of brought a little bit of Vegas style to it sometimes,

and everything is a little bit bigger and better

and then we have these really beautiful moments that are quiet and intimate

and very special that Shania is the only person on stage,

and it looks very beautiful, and it feels very beautiful,

and it's all about her, because she is the centrepiece of this creation.

I just don't want to mess anyone else up, that's all I'm saying.

I don't want anyone to be impatient with me.

Your sound is already there.

It's just a part. That's like the easy part.

I only have one sister that sounds like me, and that's you.

Here it is, the first show

for a long-standing career for me.

This is the beginning, so just remember this face.

You're scaring me.

I'm in another zone right now. I'm preparing!

I'm totally ready. I think I'm ready to accept my mistakes.

I'm ready to enjoy all the good parts,

and I'm ready to laugh at anything that goes wrong.

So, that means I'm ready!

Okay, I'm going to get dressed now.

Okay, well, last thoughts, feelings, before you go on the opening night?

It's time to party with the fans, man!

Let's go!

Cool!

I can't even believe we're standing here together,

'cause seriously, she was eight and I was 10 and that was the last time

we ever sang together.

And when I was planning to come and do Vegas,

I was really scared about the whole idea, haven't been on stage in eight years,

and Carrie said, "You've got to do it. You just gotta get up there and do it."

And I said, "Well, I'll do it if you do it with me."

So she's here as my support.

I pulled out my earplugs.

Am I plugged in?

Yes.

Okay, go!

Sorry.

Thirty seconds! Thirty seconds.

That was so awesome! Good job!

Good job, you guys!

Good job, you guys. That was a total success.

You rose to the occasion.

You're all extremely talented people, you all deserve to be here,

and the audience was very lucky to have you.

Still the one, baby!
