TARZAN: The jungle.
Here I was born.
And here my parents died when I was but an infant.
I would have soon perished, too,
had I not been found by a kindly she-ape, named Kala,
who adopted me as her own,
and taught me the ways of the wild.
I learned quickly and grew stronger each day.
And now, I share the friendship and trust of all jungle animals.
The jungle is filled with beauty
and danger.
And lost cities filled with good and evil.
This is my domain
and I protect those who come here,
for I am Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle.
(YELLING JUNGLE CRY)
(SQUAWKING)
(TARZAN YELLING JUNGLE CRY)
(GIBBERING)
(NKIMA SQUEALS)
(CREAKING)
-(GIBBERING) -TARZAN: Easy, Nkima.
There is nothing to fear from this giant.
It's only a large balloon that has dropped from the skies.
Curious.
(GIBBERING)
Many men have recently been here.
Nkima, I am worried about the pilot's safety.
Let's track them and unravel this mystery.
(GIBBERING)
This day is filled with surprises, eh, Nkima?
Surprises with striking similarities.
Someone does not wish us to travel any farther.
But I have not come this far only to turn back.
Hmm. This rock, it is worn smooth as if from use.
Well, little friend, the surprises continue
and so does our journey.
(GIBBERING)
(SNIFFING)
The scent of man is strong here.
And I feel many eyes upon us.
(GIBBERING)
(WHOOSHING)
-Nkima, away! -(SQUEALS)
Hold, knave!
What business have you here in the Valley of Nimmr?
I come in peace, searching for a balloonist who landed in my jungle.
Ah. Thou meanest the fair young maiden from the skies.
Young maiden?
She will be well cared for.
Take me to her, show me she is unharmed
and then I will leave your valley.
Thou whilst take thy leave when our queen so says
and not a moment sooner.
Fetch the cart!
(HORSE WHINNIES)
My Queen, we have brought an intruder if it pleases thee.
QUEEN: All who enter Nimmr are welcome.
Come forward, friend.
Od's zounds! What manner of hairless beast is this?
Some cruel trick nature hath played on a jungle ape?
I am Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle.
And I am quite as human as you.
Hold thy tongue, monkey-man!
Sir Malud, thy rudeness is unwarranted!
Yes, my Queen.
From whence commest thou, Tarzan?
And what doest thou in the Valley of Nimmr?
(DOOR CREAKING)
Oops.
Didn't know you had company.
I seek her.
Lady Anne?
She be a friend of yours?
No. I am only concerned for her safety.
Hmm. Thanks, but I'm a big girl. I can take care of myself.
Which is more than I can say for thee, Tarzan.
He is a spy, my Queen, and should be dealt with as such!
Dear brother Malud,
thy imagination sometimes gets the best of thee.
Please, arrange a banquet.
I wouldst dine with Tarzan and hear his story.
Yes, my Queen.
And thou wert actually raised by wild apes?
How fascinating!
Methinks apes to be disgusting creatures.
And my ape brothers are disgusted by humans.
Who kill more than they can eat.
I've heard of you, Tarzan.
Always wanted to do a story on you.
A story?
I'm a writer. Name's Annie Talbot.
I'm traveling around the world looking for adventures to write about.
I sure hit the jackpot here!
These people are the actual descendants
of an ancient English crusade!
Enough questions.
Let us be entertained!
Whoops!
(LAUGHING)
Thou wilt pay for this, Apeman!
Sir Malud, enough!
Hey, relax.
Accidents do happen, you know.
It was no accident.
That is the first truth you have spoken today.
Do not be foolish, Malud.
I am in no mood for further of your "jokes."
ANNIE: The Queen!
Something's happened to her!
It is but one of her spells.
-The guards know what to do. -But she needs a doctor.
She will be cared for.
And now, Apeman,
thou wilt suffer the consequences of thy ill-mannered ways.
To the dungeon with him!
Move, varlet.
Whoa! Set us down!
As you wish.
Stop him!
(YELLS JUNGLE CRY)
He must not escape!
Do any see him?
Me thinks he hides in the moat.
To the moat!
(BLOWING TRUMPET)
(DOOR OPENING)
Thou art under arrest by order of Sir Malud.
And how doest my good sister, the Queen?
-She's resting comfortably but-- -Good, good.
Tell me, Lady Anne,
wouldst thou savor being Queen of Nimmr, thine own self?
Nimmr already has a Queen.
Alas, Queen Guinalda's spells grow worse.
Soon, she must give up her throne.
Then I shall be King With thee as my pretty queen.
Well, that's very flattering, Sir Malud, but no thanks.
As soon as my balloon's repaired, I'm going to be on my way.
Thy travels are ended, my sweet.
The kingdom of Nimmr shall soon be ours.
So,
the Queen be ill again?
How could you know that chained up down here?
Whenever good Queen Guinalda suffers a spell,
her evil brother seizes the opportunity
to imprison his enemies.
And you are his enemy?
(WHEEZES) I be Sir Ronald, the Queen's Royal Physician.
I could easily cure her illness with the proper medicines.
But then, Sir Malud would have no chance of stealing her throne.
TARZAN: We'll escape and set things right.
Escape? (CHUCKLES)
There is no escape from here.
ANNIE: It's looking good, ladies.
Just make sure those stitches are tight.
They have to last me all the way home.
Pray tell, m'lady, is thy home as beautiful as our fair kingdom?
I must admit, Nimmr has a beauty all its own.
MALUD: Lady Anne!
And also a few bad points.
Methought I had made most clear that I wished thee to remain in Nimmr.
Unfortunately, your wishes don't coincide with mine, Sir Malud.
Thou wilt have a change of mind this afternoon.
Oh? And what's going to change it?
The sight of Sir Malud, thy future king,
winning every contest in today's tournament.
(NEIGHING)
ll cannot remain in this tower while such treachery goes on below.
(GRUNTS)
Ods bodkins!
(THUDS)
(GRUNTS)
GUARD: The noise cometh from the corridor!
I must go quickly, but I'll soon return for you.
Flee while you might, Tarzan!
The Apeman is gone!
Like the wind.
TARZAN: Annie!
Tarzan, where have you been?
Never mind that now.
As soon as your balloon is ready,
you must leave Nimmr.
But why?
You're not safe here. Malud is a dangerous man.
Hey, I appreciate your concern, Tarzan.
But don't worry, I've run into guys like him before.
Besides, the book I'm gonna write about this place,
will make me a million bucks.
(FANFARE PLAYS)
ANNIE: The tournament's starting!
Now, stop worrying about me and come see the fun.
CRIER: Hear ye, hear ye!
Let the tournament begin.
(CROWD CHEERING)
And Sir Malud wins the first volley.
(CROWD JEERS)
(APPLAUDS)
My brother always wins, though the crowd ill favors him.
I'm with them.
Why say you that?
Queen Guinalda, when this is over,
we'd better have atalk about your brother.
And the winner be...
Sir Malud!
(CROWD JEERING)
It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
Silence!
Once again have I proven I am the best man in all Nimmr.
Henceforth, from this day forward 1 shall be King Malud.
(GASPS) What sayeth he?
MALUD: And Lady Anne Talbot
will be my Queen!
He's mad!
Yet none will challenge him for he is the finest archer
and horseman in the kingdom.
Let this arrow be a reminder to all
that no shaft flies so straight or true as mine.
Malud, you would rule Nimmr with lies and treachery.
That I cannot allow.
(CROWD CHEERING)
I stand by Queen Guinalda.
Step forth, Apeman, and pay for insults on the field of honor.
But Tarzan knows naught of jousting.
If he be a man, he will accept the challenge.
Else, let him depart Nimmr forever, in disgrace.
Tarzan, wait!
(NEIGHS)
(NEIGHS)
I am ready, Malud.
Then prepare to meet defeat.
Hiya!
Somebody stop them!
It is too late.
(CLATTERS)
-(NEIGHING) -What say now, Apeman?
Dost thou yield?
Never.
(GRUNTS)
Malud, you are finished.
(NEIGHS)
-(GASPS) -Lady Anne!
Stop. Put me down!
In time!
(NEIGHS)
ANNIE: Help!
Help!
Doth this Tarzan never quit?
Apeman, the final victory is mine!
No!
You can't do that!
MALUD: I can and I willt!
(YELLS JUNGLE CRY)
(SQUAWKS)
Yud, Neeta. Yud!
(AIR WHOOSHING)
-Begone, you vile creature! -(SQUAWKS)
Away!
(ROPE SNAPPING)
Tarzan!
(GIBBERING)
(SQUEALS)
(GIBBERING)
Nkima, it is good to see you again.
Behold!
The fool speaketh to a monkey!
More than a monkey,
a friend.
(GIBBERING)
And that, Malud, is something you will never have.
Well, I guess this is good-bye.
-We shall miss thee greatly, Lady Anne. -And I'll miss you.
All of you.
But especially you, Tarzan, for caring enough to help.
Even though I didn't think I needed it.
We all need a helping hand once in a while, Annie.
Yeah.
That's why I'd like you to help me once more
by destroying this.
But Lady Anne.
These are the notes for your million dollar book.
There's not going to be any book.
It would only bring the outside world into Nimmr
and spoil it forever.
I couldn't bear to see that happen.
Goodbye.
Annie Talbot, you have truly grown in wisdom.
