The Classic of Mountains and Seas - Legend of the Scarlet Shadow

Episode 18

I can understand your disappointment in the king and us.

But today isn't the same as the past!

If Qing Qiu really falls into chaos,

then the ones that suffer are only the innocent people!

All of Qing Qiu originally belonged to you!

I've always been waiting for this chance!

I've always been hoping to send you back to Qing Qiu.

He won!

I won! I won!

Today, you are mine! Today you are mine, Hong Ling!

Did he...?

What is he doing?

Wait a moment.

Wait?

Miss Hong Ling, be quick!

I can't wait anymore!

Hurry, hurry!

Where is he going?

He must be going to find a beautiful maiden.

How can that do?

Why can't it do? Isn't finding a beautiful maiden the only reason to come here?

-Don't you think so, Ah Su? The one that we were talking about last time--That's right.

-What is she doing?-Don't know.

Hurry up! Or else something will happen!

Chi Yu!

Chi Yu! Come out!

-Chi Yu!-Stop making a fuss!

I'm begging you, don't-!

You wild and unruly little brat.

You dare to come to my place to make trouble?

I think you're tired of living!

You have help?

-Hit them!-It's a misunderstanding!

What misunderstanding? Making trouble in my territory is a misunderstanding?

What are you standing there for? Hit them!

Auntie, we didn't do it on purpose!

It's a misunderstanding, really!

What did you say?

Who's an auntie? Do you think I look like an auntie?

Ma'am! No, no, big sister!

Beat them with no mercy!

Stop it!

He is so unruly! And he dared steal my wine to drink!

My big sister! How much money is she worth?

The demon power in this Forget Worries Pavilion is too strong!

Or maybe we should say that this auntie isn't a woman!

Speak! How much money is my big sister worth?

You came to make trouble to sell your sister?

We really didn't come to make trouble!

My big brother...when he's drunk, he can say anything!

The minute he takes his sword out-!

In this world, I've seen those who came to sell daughters,

those who sell their little sisters, but those who sell their older sisters...

this is the first time I've seen it.

Isn't this how life goes?

Right?

-Ten cents!-Ten cents?

I say, miss, what do you know how to do?

I can do anything! If I don't know, I can learn.

Well, you seem rather smart.

What songs can you sing?

How about dance?

You can at least talk about poems and draw!

You can't do anything. Why should I buy you?

She can do cartwheels! She can do ten in a row!

This place isn't a circus. Why do I need her to do cartwheels?

-Listen to me! She can work and carry things!-Really...

She's stronger than a guy!

Buying her is more worth it than hiring a worker!

Really! Do you want her or not? If you don't, we're leaving.

Ten cents! Do you want her or not? If you don't, we're leaving.

Let's go.

Ten cents! Pay up!

Go!

Big sister, take good care of yourself.

Don't look anymore. You belong to the Forget Worries Pavilion now.

I'll have the head servant give you a job. You can leave.

Go on!

There's no need. We're leaving.

So you can talk to women? You were just pretending before, right?

You weren't that bad at acting!

What is it?

You can't be...

You really are drunk?

You! Wash these clothes!

What?

I want you to wash these clothes!

What is up with Miss Hong Ling today?

She doesn't want the rich clients, but sends me over instead.

I almost gave myself away!

As long as you like him, it's okay.

He was ugly, but he had money.

But he only liked her!

Someone like me can't enter others eyes.

Big sisters,

you were just saying that Miss Hong Ling didn't accompany that rich man?

That's right! She said she had to find a fated person.

Then, did she find a fated person?

Miss Hong Ling is our top prostitute here.

Her room has her personally made red lantern hanging in front of it.

She must have found a fated person.

Then...what does that person look like?

Who is he?

That person doesn't look that bad.

It's just a shame that he's a woodblock, he won't even smile.

He wasn't even willing to give one gemstone in the grand hall just now.

He only drank wine by himself. He's obviously poor.

I don't know what's wrong with Miss Hong Ling's taste.

Don't talk about it anymore, maybe she likes it.

Right now, she might be very happy inside her room right now.

-Let's go.-Let's go.

I can't care about so much anymore!

Sir, you have great skills.

Miss has good eyes.

Sir, if you really intended to see me,

why didn't you personally make a move?

You had to help that unruly person in secret.

Miss, you look for fate.

If I didn't do things that way,

how could I make you not forget me?

Sir, you put a lot of thought into this.

If I win the game, but not your heart,

how can I enter your room?

Sir, are you seducing me?

I do not dare to.

You are the top prostitute here.

Only you seduce men, how can men dare to seduce you?

Furthermore, Miss, your martial arts skills are great.

Looking at things this way,

it doesn't seem like you came for me.

Miss, you are smart.

I came to look for a person.

Sir, you put into so much effort,

and it wasn't easy to see me.

But, you only did it to look for another person.

This person is in Forget Worries Pavilion.

It is not covenient for me to say.

What type of person are you looking for?

A person with a mark on their body.

A mark?

Sir, are you talking about tattoos?

In Forget Worries Pavilion, there are many girls with tattoos.

It is a "chariot" character.

Chariot?

Us girls of this type of place

don't know many characters.

Sir, I do not recognize the chariot character you speak of.

I heard the girls say

that you have this character on your body.

I do have a tattoo.

As for characters, do you really want to see?

Miss Hong Li, the dishes you want are here.

Why is it you?

Are you new? You look unfamiliar.

I was sold here by my little brother.

Your little brother?

Enough, put the dishes over there first.

What are you standing there for?

Miss Hong Li, I'll help you change your clothes.

Where did this wild brat come from? Such bumbling hands.

It's enough that you do some small matters. Things like my changing clothes,

are naturally taken care of by my personal maid.

I don't need you here.

I really don't know why Mother bought you.

Hurry and get out!

Miss Hong Li, I'm sorry.

I'm new, so I don't know the rules.

Please be understanding.

That's right.

She's obviously just a little lady. Don't stoop to her level.

Okay. Today, on Sir Yu's face,

I'll spare you. Hurry and get out.

Yes.

Don't disturb us.

What are you standing there for?

New maids never know the rules.

I will drink to you to apologize.

Miss, your martial arts are quite good.

Miss, you are very agile.

What sect are you from?

Singing and dancing,

are things I learned since childhood.

I have embarrassed myself.

As you say it,

all of that just now were just dance movements?

If you like it,

I am willing to dance for you again.

There's no need for a dance.

If you can let me see the tattoo on your body,

I will be quite grateful.

Sir, you worked so hard to see me once.

It was all for seeing a tattoo?

Then what do you think?

It's not impossible.

It's just...

I want your sincerity.

As long as you sincerely treat me,

only then can I

perhaps, I could let you see my tattoo.

To see you,

one has to go through five hurdles and kill six generals. (difficult task)

Does that not count as sincerity?

Then...Sir Yu,

the night is short...

Wait a minute.

My sincerity to you isn't fake.

It's just...

What is it? You are sincere towards me,

yet you aren't willing to touch me?

It's just...

I am already married.

The woman at home is also a tigress.

It is not convenient for me to stay out all night.

I didn't think that would be so loyal!

Today, I'm not in a rush to see.

I'll come again tomorrow.

General.

-Hurry and go get the luggage.-Yes.

-Fu'er, please.-General.

Fu'er,

we might have to make do here for a few days.

What is this place?

A villa.

There is still some distance until Qing Qiu from here.

Everyone is tired, and your body isn't well.

This place is quiet; it is a good place to rest.

Fu'er, go get some rest first.

I still have some things to take care of.

Okay.

Mysterious Lady, please come with me.

Go on.

Timing & Subtitles brought to you by the Dancing Fingers @ Viki

General, I've been waiting.

Talk after we go in.

All the people are in place. They are just waiting for your command.

Very good!

Shuang'er,

you really are the one I trust most.

How about this? Go to Qing Qiu to prepare first.

I'll arrive soon.

Okay.

-General!-Tell them,

to keep a close eye on that brat Su Mo.

Be prepared for my orders at a moment's notice to take action!

Remember, she must be kept alive.

Yes, Sir!

What are you going to do?

Jiu Li and Qing Qiu with Dong Ling are going to war soon.

I am planning my battle strategy.

But this has nothing to do with Fu'er.

Don't worry. This won't affect or hurt Fu'er.

You don't need to be so worried.

Since Qing Qiu is going to war, why are you bringing her there?

She wants to go.

I'm just fulfilling her wish.

You're saying that taking Fu'er to Qing Qiu has nothing to do with the war?

Of course.

I've known you for so many years. I know you too well.

You never do anything that doesn't have benefits.

Of course, I have my own goals.

My goal

is to find the Heart Mansion of the Azure Dragon, Xin Yue Hu.

This isn't only my goal. It is also Fu'er's wish.

This time, Fu'er going to Qing Qiu is also to find someone.

As for who that person is, you can ask her yourself.

Also, the war will begin soon.

As Dong Ling's grand general,

I must take up my general responsibilities.

As for protecting Fu'er,

I'll leave that to you.

Lord Bin!

Miss Fu'er.

What are you thinking about?

You're so out of it.

It's just some things in the past.

Is it...that old friend?

Miss, you really understand a person's heart.

I'm sorry, I was too blunt.

That's fine.

That I can know you, it is fortune built up over many lives.

Sir Bin, why are you always so polite?

I have a favor to ask.

Go ahead.

If you don't mind,

can you not call me "Lord Bin" anymore?

In front of the Mysterious Lady,

I find it hard to be called Lord.

-Then...-Call me Big Brother Bin.

I am just afraid that you will catch a cold.

Thank you...Big Brother Bin.

Actually, there's always been something I wanted to ask.

Please go ahead. I will definitely tell you everything.

General Baili said that you are a brother that shaped the world with him.

But why is it that in these years, you only like to admire flowers and make wine

instead of going to fight with the General?

At that time, we were young and foolish.

I hadn't figured out what were the most important things to do,

nor who was the most valuable to me.

I said that I was going to fight for Dong Ling,

it was only to really satisfy my own ambitious heart for power.

At that time, all I thought

was that the meaning of life was to succeed and do great things.

In the end...

I lost the most important thing to me.

When I discovered all of this, it was too late.

Everything was finished.

What should be lost,

was lost.

When I think about it,

what the use of having more power?

Might as well go back home,

and experience the joy of a carefree life.

The most important thing?

Up till recently,

I felt like the heavens were too unfair to me.

It took away the most important thing to me.

I didn't think that today, it would treat me so well.

It gave me another chance.

The heavens won't forsake sincere people.

I hope that you won't lose it again this time.

I won't make the same mistake again.

Miss Fu'er,

why do you want to go to Qing Qiu?

Because...

Isn't the Azure Dragon star mansion Xin Yue Hu in Qing Qiu?

Is it just because of that?

How do I say it?

He came from Qing Qiu.

So I want to go look at what the place he grew up in looks like.

He?

It's Big Brother Chi Yu.

He's a Vermilion Bird Star Mansion, and is very good at martial arts.

Also, he takes very good care of me.

Vermilion Bird Star Mansion?

But you are the Mysterious Lady of the Azure Dragon.

I have been too blunt. If you don't wish to talk about it...

He might be a Vermilion Bird Star Mansion, but he treats me very well.

Last time, when Shangguan Jin wanted to kill me,

he was the one who saved me!

He's always treated me very well.

This Sir Chi Yu...

is the person you like?

But it's a shame.

It seems like he doesn't like me.

How could he not like you?

I mean, you are so cute.

He will definitely like you.

Really?

As a person,

he always looks very grumpy,

but his heart is actually very warm.

Those who know him know how good he is.

But I still am a bit

worried about him.

Worried about what?

I'm afraid that he will be fooled by a false appearance.

Forget it, let's not talk about it.

Thank you, Big Brother Bin.

After talking with you, my mood improved a lot!

Come.

I'll give this back to you.

I'll go in first.

Sleep well.

You, too!

General Baili, why have you come back?

What is it?

You can let go of your Grand General of Dong Ling's responsibilities?

I was just worried about our Lord Bin and Mysterious Lady.

I didn't know how you two were getting along.

I was just afraid that you are in too much of a rush and will scare our Mysterious Lady.

How is it?

Have you asked?

Do you want to see the Sir Yu in Fu'er's heart?

I'll choke you to death, you stinky brat!

Let go of me!

Are you drunk?

It's the dumb idea that you came up with! Su Mo is gone now!

Nothing happened to Su Mo!

She's just fine in Forget Worries Pavilion!

Speak!

Why did I listen to your dumb ideas?

-What nonsense?-Did I just see a ghost?

Su Mo went in on her own!

We just went along with it!

If my grandpa finds out something happened to the Mysterious Lady,

he will definitely hit me with a pipe rod.

That's too light on you!

He will definitely

twist your neck and break it!

Would you be so happy if that happened?

Don't worry.

Your grandpa definitely won't have a chance to do that.

Because if something happened inside the prostitute house,

there's no need for your grandpa.

Chi Yu would finish us both off first!

No.

I'll go find her right now!

You're going to Forget Worries Pavilion like that?

That place is full of girls!

If you go in, could you find Su Mo?

Timing & Subtitles brought to you by the Dancing Fingers @ Viki

The braveness from the alcohol, is it useless now?

Do you think Chi Yu will really come after us?

I'm ruined by you!

Big Brother Shangguan isn't here either! With Chi Yu's temper, he's going to eat me!

Turn around!

I-!

Why don't we just sneak away?

Sneak away?

Who knows when they can find the Chariot Mansion?

It's useless to just stay here.

Let's go right now.

After eating and drinking our fill, let's traverse Jianghu!

Shi Pei Pei!

Those two brats.

Don't let me see you two.

Tea!

It's tea!

I say, you mountain thieves, why are you so useless?

-Then do you want me to act cool in front of you right now?-Forget it.

Who are you going to be cool in front of on the street?

Hurry and tell me. Why can't you talk to women?

What is there to talk about? I just can't.

Are we brothers or not?

That has nothing to do with it.

If you don't say it, I'll put wine in your food every day!

Could you be anymore selfish?

Look at you!

You're always so fluent when you speak to me.

When you look at girls, you can't talk!

Putting wine in your food,

is to help you interact with girls!

I don't need it!

Then what will you do when you get married?

-The rest of your life...-What about it?

I can already imagine it.

Complete silence.

You don't need to care about the rest of my life!

An illness of the heart!

It must be an illness of the heart!

It has nothing to do with you.

You are running away!

An illness of the heart needs medicine of the heart!

Just tell me!

Perhaps I can help you!

Then swear.

You can be the only one to know.

Okay, I swear!

No. That isn't useful.

Make it a stronger swear.

I swear!

If I tell another person, I will...

I will never have good things to eat again!

I'll never have good things to play with.

Not good enough?

I will...I will...marry a country girl like Su Mo!

Good!

Don't forget your promise.

Actually...

it's like this.

Big brother Ah Su!

Let's go.

Come up!

Come up!

Come! Give me your hand!

You're so stupid!

You're the stupid one!

Stop making a fuss!

Ah He, let's go home.

I..I...

Ah Su,

have you never discovered that I'm a girl?

Actually, I've liked you for a long time.

I...I...!

I...

Then you miss her?

The one that I miss is my brother Ah He.

But she's a girl.

The one I miss isn't her.

The two of them are the same person!

I know!

From that moment on,

I had a phobia.

When I see her, I can't talk.

Then...then what about later?

From then on, besides my mother,

as long as the one across from me is a woman,

I can't say a thing.

Later on, it became increasingly more serious.

When it was the most serious...

How serious was it?

My grandpa had a hen in his yard.

I didn't say a thing for half a month.

Until that hen became chicken soup.

Ah Su!

You are the cutest mountain bandit in this world!

Not so loud!

In case the government captures me.

You are the most cowardly mountain bandit in this world!

I kept on not talking to Ah He.

Later, Ah He married someone else.

I didn't think that it would be like this.

Our Ah Su has such a first love story.

You swore!

You can't tell anyone!

I got it, I got it!

You're such a nag.

If you have the capability, tell that to a woman.

What idea do you have now?

I got it!

After we summon the Vermilion Bird,

you can ask the Vermilion Bird for a wish directly!

Ask it to heal your phobia!

This way, can't you talk to women then?

That's right!

We work so hard to wander around with Su Mo.

We can't just do it all for nothing!

[Forget Worries Pavilion]

The weather is so nice today!

In this sort of weather,

one must drink some tea and eat some honeyed sweets!

Only then can you not forsake this great sunlight.

Then Miss Hong Ling, I'll go get some honeyed sweets for you.

Honeyed sweets are too sweet.

Normal ones are fine.

What are you standing there for?

Hurry and go!

Really...

Hong Ling!

There are lots of capable girls here.

Why do you insist on wanting that country bumpkin?

She's just full of animal strength.

If I didn't like that she was cheap-

She's not cheap!

Why do you say that?

The other day, I saw a Young Lord.

Do you know who he is?

The one who took the first place in your competition?

Such a rough person, I got rid of him earlier.

You-!

You are going to drive away all my bringers of fortune!

The bringer of fortune...

is in my hands.

Who is it?

Mother, do you still remember the young man that day?

He says he is a regular merchant.

But no matter how I look, he doesn't seem like one.

When he took the championship,

he seems like a rich young man coming out to play.

Why am I getting more confused as I listen?

Mother, you only need to know that that girl and Mr. Chi Yu

don't have a simple relationship.

Impossible!

That girl is just a country bumpkin!

And that little brother of hers has a gambler's personality.

Mother, you don't need to know too much.

You only need to know that every day that girl is by my side,

that young lord will spend money in our Forget Worries Pavilion.

My Little Hong Ling!

You really are the precious treasure in my heart!

Enough.

Mother, there's no rush to praise me.

Today, did you forget something?

How can I forget it? I brought it!

Take it well.

So little?

Hong Ling!

It's not like you don't know the situation this year.

With this drought, prices for items are higher than anything!

Besides, there's not a lot of customers.

No one keeps a better record of money than you!

You are our Forget Worries Pavilion's star.

How can I bear to treat you poorly?

Right?

Then let's not talk about other things.

The money that Mr. Chi Yu spends here, give me half.

How can I do that?

-Money for food, wine, it's a lot of money!-Enough.

Then I'll tell him to go back.

Don't, don't, don't!

Hong Ling, how can you think of everything?

Then are you agreeing or not?

I'll agree to it!

Half is half!

Who told that Mr. Chi Yu

to be such a rich, young master, right?

There's one more thing.

It's that girl.

No matter what trouble she creates here,

-you must let her go.-I can't.

What if she ends up getting rid of this place?

Well, there's still that Sir Chi Yu who will accompany you.

Perhaps, you can make a profit!

Really?

When have I tricked you?

I'm looking upon your face!

Let's go. Slowly!

You are a rich young master.

You're not living the life of ease.

Why are you coming along on such an arduous journey to summon the Vermilion Bird?

This is the difference between idiots and smart people!

The seven star mansions of the Vermilion Bird are set by destiny.

Even if you want to avoid it, you can't.

Those commoners and all are too far away from me.

I can't care about that.

But that Su Mo,

she's quite a good person.

Her head is just too stupid!

The most important thing is that she likes to act smart!

Within such a group,

if the leader is so stupid,

of course, someone smart like me to lead them is needed, right?

Then we can proceed quickly and accomplish our goal.

So, I suffered to join your group,

so I can be Su Mo's military teacher!

As I see things,

you like Su Mo.

You can't be at ease to see her alone.

What nonsense! I like her?

I'm not as stupid as Chi Yu and Shangguan Jin.

I'm not talking about that type of like.

It's that type of...

-That type!-Which type?

It's just...it's just that type!

When you were young, you grew up alone.

Actually, you always hoped to have a big sister like Su Mo!

Forget it!

A big sister like her,

I can afford to lose such a person!

Stop slanting your mouth. If you continue, it will be bent.

Originally you were born with no knowledge.

Why did you join the group?

You already know!

I was forced by my grandfather.

Little brother,

what are those people going to do?

The Vermilion Bird God came to our village.

It's said that all wishes will be granted today!

-Vermilion Bird?-God?

-True or not?-Definitely! The Vermilion Bird God is indeed amazing!

Do you want to go look?

-Of course, we have to go!-Of course, we have to go!

When can you stop walking without making noise?

I came in openly.

Not like some people.

Openly?

-You openly let others take clothes off for you to see, right?-Then tell me.

How can I openly

look at the bodies of the girls?

Aren't I thinking of something?

Su Mo,

why are you still here talking with people?

Hurry and go prepare Miss Hong Ling's fresh clothes.

She's going to take a bath soon!

Okay, I'll come right away!

Watch me.

Be careful.

Miss Hong Ling, these are your fresh clothes.

Enough, put them over there.

Then I'll help you dress.

When I bathe, I'm not used to having people around me.

Did you see?

Her whole body is clean, there's not a single word.

Impossible.

Those girls wouldn't say nonsense.

I'll go look again.

So it's like this?

What kind of expression is that?

It's so obvious that you wanted to go look yourself.

Why are you pestering endlessly? (Idiom: Why are you such an annoying troublemaker?)

Okay.

You can't find her, right?

Come back to the hotel with me.

What are you doing?

I haven't found the Chariot Mansion yet!

What is a young lady doing here?

I'll find the Chariot Mansion. Go back.
