"Full Court Press" is presented by State Farm.

Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.

For me to have cameras following me around,

like, it’s nice,

but as you can tell, I’m very camera shy.

This is something really important for me

and I’m just excited to be doing it.

I think that’s the greatest thing about my team.

Like it doesn’t really bother us.

Maybe a few years back it would be a lot different,

but I think now we’re just at the point

where it’s kind of what we’re used to.

It’s kind of normal.

At first, it took some time getting used to feeling

like I was like always being watched,

but then I kind of just learned to like be myself

and just take advantage of a really cool opportunity.

And now, "Full Court Press,"

presented by State Farm.

Another Big 10 road loss

gives the Hawkeyes a chance to regroup

as Caitlin prepares to break the record

this Thursday at home.

When Clark didn’t break the record

on Sunday against Nebraska, ticket prices went up immensely.

Fans are driving long distances

and paying big bucks to watch Clark smash the record.

This class is learning about intuitive eating.

Clearly I’ve learned a lot, as I drink a coffee

just filled with calories.

Whatever.

I’m gonna look up how much tickets

are going for on Thursday.

Let’s see.

My family sits in A.

Average ticket price, $394.

Ooh.

What’s unique about this moment in women’s basketball,

they can no longer hold us back.

- My goodness.

A show-stopping highlight.

I like that.

Now starting for the Iowa Hawkeyes,

Caitie Clark!

These are the moments I’ve worked for.

People are gonna want to see you fall

when you get to the top.

You gotta get a picture of this.

I don’t think anybody can fully grasp

the pressure that she feels.

Kamilla’s why is her family.

I’m just so proud of myself for never giving up, you know?

We’re making history. We changing the game.

Kiki Rice,

she came to UCLA for an opportunity

to do something that’s never been done before,

a Women’s National Championship here.

Kiki Rice gets the and-1.

Once you get to NCAA tournament time, you know,

you lose one game and your season’s over.

This has been an incredible ride.

Cardoso for three. Bakes it in!

It’s a heavy load.

It’s only bestowed on those who can handle it.

Good morning, good morning, good morning.

How we doing?

Already know, that’s good.

Workout is on the whiteboard. Got a lower body day today.

We also have a game tomorrow.

And we also have a game tomorrow.

You know, you start out undefeated

and you have these big wins and going into conference play,

we had more top 25 wins than anybody in the country.

Season started off fantastic.

I don’t think you could have hoped

for a better start of this season.

We, undefeated for a while.

Let’s go, Gabs - Coach Hart,

what weight? - 25, yeah.

We were killing, you know, doing our thing,

and then adversity hit.

Trojans.

They’re gonna hand UCLA their first loss of the season.

Osborne, the heave to win it.

72-72.

Overtime in Salt Lake City.

The Utes

beat the highest-rank opponent they’ve ever beaten.

94-81, the final in overtime.

I think it really started to feel like we hit our slump

when Lauren went out.

I really struggled to, like,

I think the pressure of everything got to me.

You’re a person first, and the athlete comes second,

and you have to take care of yourself.

Yeah, I decided that it was probably best if I step out

and take a break mentally.

Lauren really wanted to play, but she couldn’t.

She had medical things she had to take care of,

and it was a tough decision

but she needed to put herself first.

A lot of me still feels resentful towards myself,

because of what that week was like for my teammates.

When you lose your center,

it’s really hard to make adjustments.

And so your wheels start turning.

What do I have to do to make up for this loss?

Bruins will get another chance

with eight seconds remaining in the game.

At the end, it came down to a last-second shot.

I had opportunity to tie it

with the three seconds in over time.

Charisma Osborne.

No good. Bruins with another chance.

Two seconds remaining.

When it went up, I like, I heard it bounce off.

I was pissed.

And it was frustration, anger and, like, sadness.

Washington Cougars

take down second branch UCLA.

Just to feel like things

were like falling apart, in a sense.

It was tough.

We are here at Stanford.

The Cardinal can accept to host UCLA.

It is a Top 10 showdown for the sixth time this year

in the Pac-12 conference.

Going to the Stanford game,

one of our biggest games of the season,

we only had eight eligible players.

How’s she feeling today? Do you know?

No.

I love Stanford.

I’m a very proud Stanford alum, but Kiki is my family,

and I love her and I love her team.

My aunt has always been really tough, hardworking,

holds those around her accountable,

and a lot of those qualities are things

that I try to emulate.

I served in the Clinton administration,

the Obama administration, and now the Biden administration.

We have a great deal more to do on all aspects

of equity and justice.

Working in the world of politics,

a lot of people have opinions,

and I think she never let those derail her.

For her to go through all that, stay strong,

keep her voice and never really falter,

it showed me that me giving my all

and just leave it all out there is the most important thing.

Whenever things are tough,

particularly when, you know, expectations are high

and you feel like you may not be meeting those expectations,

that’s when you have to dig down even deeper.

Cori Close talking to us

about how her guards need to be aggressive downhill.

But right off the top, you see no more in Betts.

Stanford looking to exploit.

Good job!

How do they respond to adversity today

in a hostile environment?

Rattled in, Kiki Rice.

They were hoping that she’d be able to hook more shots.

This is what you wanna see if you’re Tara Vanderveer,

production from multiple players.

That’s great. That’s the end one here.

It was a rough day, and we just came out flat.

UCLA on the brink of what could be

their poorest shooting night

and their lowest scoring night of the season.

It was embarrassing.

We’re like guys, like, we have to get one weekend

where we win two games.

And the Stanford Cardinal take down UCLA

in this Top 10 Pac-12 showdown.

Everything that we set out at the beginning

of the season just continued to feel

farther and farther away.

We are going to start the day

with the biggest story in the sports world.

This is the hottest ticket in town.

Everybody wants a chance to witness history this evening.

I never wear makeup when I play, ever.

One because I sweat too much,

and it would be all over my white jersey,

all over the towels,

all over the other team’s jersey,

but always do my hair.

It has to be stick straight, come on.

I think I’m just superstitious about it,

and my teammates know, too.

I think it would throw my teammates off

if I showed up without straightening my hair.

I always get very excited for games,

especially home games, but obviously this one

that’s just a little different.

Got a little,

there’s gonna be like an extra buzz in the air, I feel like.

So I’m excited.

The sports world focused

on Iowa’s Caitlin Clark tonight

as she is set to make history.

Eight points away from passing Kelsey Plum

and becoming the all-time leading scorer

in NCAA women’s basketball history.

She will go for that mark tonight at home against Michigan.

- Are you ready to go now? - Yeah. Feeling good.

Good. I feel like it’s gonna be fun.

- Yeah, for sure. - I saw them carrying

like, all my trophies up to the concourse.

Really?

I was like, what are they doing?

I guess they’re like making some-

- Plotting some crazy stuff. - Yeah.

The records have now reached to a point

where she’s broken so many that it’s one after the other,

and they just kind of keep coming.

Now, this next one’s pretty big,

and when she breaks this one,

that’s gonna mean a little more.

Kelsey told me that they’re shooting off streamers

after the game, so prepare yourself to not get scared.

- Oh okay. - It’s what she told me.

I was like- - I wonder what Michigan’s

gonna be thinking.

Why are these people so extra?

That’s what they’re gonna be thinking.

- Go Hawks! Go Hawks! - Go Hawks!

A lot of extra energy

in the building today.

The Big 10’s all-time leading scorer has the opportunity

to become the NCAA’s women’s record holder.

Caitlin has changed the economics

and changed the eyeballs on the game of women’s basketball

because there was a reason always, not only to tune in

just to watch her as an exciting basketball player,

but, oh, she’s going to break the next milestone.

And I think, certainly, that fed into the fervor

of why people wanted to watch her play.

Caitlin, obviously this is a historic day.

It’s historic for our program,

but it’s also historic for women’s basketball.

And so just thankful that we are all a part of it.

Tonight we’re celebrating Caitlin. You bet we are.

We could go on and on

about what Caitlin Clark has done

for the game of women’s basketball,

but tonight, she’s eight points away

from cementing herself in the history of the game.

The energy I had inside myself,

I just knew that it was gonna be one of those nights.

I feel like sometimes as a competitor,

like you can feel that.

Number 22, Caitlin Clark!

It is a great honor to be up there

next to Kelsey Plum at the top

and the litany of other names that are up there.

I think she’ll probably try

to get out of the way pretty fast.

Six points away from an NCAA record.

Point two from the outside!

Oh, this is gonna happen quick.

She is three away. Just a bucket.

Recovered by Gabby Marshall. Here comes Clark.

How will she go for history?

Yes!

The all-time leading scorer in women’s college basketball.

Okay, she’s gonna set the record.

She only needs eight points,

but like how is she gonna do it?

And of course she pulls up from 33 feet,

two minutes into the game, swishes it, buries it.

Caitlin Clark now has

3,528 points in her career.

She has officially broken Kelsey Plum’s record.

If you would’ve told me that my freshman year,

I would’ve like thought you were crazy

and you never set out to break the NCAA, you know,

women’s basketball scoring record.

Like, that’s never what I was trying to do.

Clark trying to go for more.

Yes!

Clark keeps coming.

38 added to the total.

A new career high,

a new Iowa’s women’s basketball record.

We’re going for ’em all! 49 points.

Not only does she break the Kelsey Plum record,

but she also breaks the school scoring record as well.

It was a perfect night.

I mean one of the best performances

of Caitlin Clark’s career.

Wow, Caitlin, congratulations, love you so much.

Huge milestone, huge number.

But remember, it’s all the smiles,

memories and so many special moments

that are behind that number that are yours for a lifetime.

I’m lucky enough to be in the same realm

with all these really great players

that I idolized growing up.

It’s just really unfathomable

and I’m just really grateful, honestly.

Caitlin! Caitlin!

Caitlin! Caitlin!

Kiki’s first summer here,

her trainer was out here and I said,

"What do I need to know about Kiki that maybe I don’t?"

He said, "Her confidence isn’t what you would think."

I set goals and standards for myself,

and sometimes when I feel like I’m not living up to them

or I could be doing better, I should be doing better,

I get, like, frustrated.

What’s been your experience like the last couple months

and like what is it that you wanna get out doing this work?

Playing fearless, playing with, like,

the utmost confidence I think that can be an area

where I feel like I can improve in

and that can help me get to that next level.

I started seeing a sports psychologist.

Obviously I’m seeing trainers, I take care of my body,

and I think adding someone who can help me

with the mental side of the game

is something that could be really helpful for me.

So playing freely

and playing with more confidence.

Right? - Yeah.

Do you have a sense of like

what gets in the way of that?

- I would say fear of results. - Mm.

- Yeah. - Mm.

Missing a shot or not making the right play,

that kind of stuff. - Mm. Yeah.

Fear of loss, fear of failing, you know,

really play a factor

in any decision that I made on the court.

How long has this kind of fear,

your words, right, like fear of like outcomes,

how long have you been noticing this?

- I was in college. - Yeah.

- Since I started college. - Yeah.

So you felt a little more free

before you got here? - Yeah.

I mean, I think when you get to this level,

obviously each level up, there’s new expectations,

better opponents, all that stuff, new pressures, so,

like, each mistake I feel like carries more weight

because the consequences, I guess, are greater.

It’s pretty natural to be afraid, right?

Especially when you really care,

but hopefully wanna leverage it

rather than have it create like the stuckness

that you feel maybe sometimes. - Yeah.

Where you’re hesitating or kind

of like overthinking, right? - Mm-hmm.

So like to be confident in those moments,

we wanna notice like when the thoughts are constricting,

and get back to like what works, right,

a little bit more consistently.

Which is what I’m hearing from you

is like more technical cues, right?

Like get my feet set, what’s it sound like?

Yeah, my footwork, my mechanics, my release.

- Yeah. - The specific things

within my shot that I’m focusing on.

Yeah.

And how many times when you focused on the mechanics

and being grounded in your own body, have you made the shot?

- Basically every time. - Yeah.

Most times, yeah.

And this, like, doing this work is really,

like, what creates that freedom.

Right? - Mm-hmm.

You’re doing all the right stuff.

- Back to the tacos. - I know.

Do you wanna do rice? This box?

- Yep, first time. - Yes. Okay.

I’m scared.

In a large skillet, combine rice, okay, and butter.

I feel like during season, like-

- You don’t cook. - You don’t cook at all.

- At all. - Yeah.

I think tacos were actually literally

the first thing that I ever made.

- In your life? - Yeah, my life.

- Really? - Yeah.

My mom would make them.

She, like, made me do something to help out.

Oh wait, I need to bring it to a boil.

That’s boiling-ish.

That? No.

- Keep it boiling. - I know.

Let it do more.

Okay, now it’s going.

Maybe it’s good that we don’t cook that often.

Yeah.

Cheese is cheese.

- Yeah. - I think.

Now that does look pretty good.

Oh it’s good. Not gonna lie.

When I see, like, old videos of our games,

when we were undefeated,

I was like, dang. - Yeah, literally.

That feels like a long time ago, but it was like,

I feel like this season went by so fast.

- It was in January. - Yeah.

It was on my birthday, our first loss,

when we played SC.

I feel like tomorrow will be good for us,

because like when we were watching film today,

I realized, Utah was our second loss right,

of the season? - Yes, after SC.

And that’s what kind of started, like,

some of the struggle. - Yeah, the hardship,

adversity, because we really never beat Utah before.

Nope.

Get ready for a fun Pac-12 matchup.

It’s the number 12 Bruins taking on number 18 Utah.

I knew all along that in order for us to achieve our goals

and get where we wanted to be at the end of the season,

Lauren needed to be playing with us,

so to have her back made me believe it again

that okay, you know, we can do this.

When I was going to the locker room

to get ready for the game, people were just like,

"Oh my God, Lauren, like, you’re back at Pauley.

This is amazing."

And it was just like we were whole again.

They are trying to really dial in

and get back to what made the beginning

of their season successful.

UCLA, early on this season,

they were the number two team in the nation.

They lose Lauren Betts for a little bit,

stumble without her.

She’s back now.

We just came out ready to play,

and to feel the mojo and the energy

and the environment like within the team and in the gym.

It just felt like, okay, we’re rolling again.

Hey, tougher, more together. 40 minutes, let’s go.

Come on now.

Here we go.

From Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, California.

Rice sends up with it for UCLA.

Rob inside.

Betts just has so much side.

Another chance here for UCLA.

Osborne cut in, it’s on a three.

UCLA off to a terrific start.

When I play my best, even though generally

I’m quiet and stuff, you’ll see like little moments

where I get really hyped or really into it.

Yell "and-1," something like that.

Rice able to finish plus the foul.

And UCLA has really completely controlled this first half.

Keep playing with that kind of talk,

intensity, communication, that’s everything, okay?

There’s really no cookie-cutter, one way to lead.

It doesn’t have to be loud, but it has to be impactful.

and so Kiki trying

to figure out how to do that

is where her leadership is going to continue to grow.

And we’ve gotta fight to be us. We can do that, right?

I think there’s more in us right now, okay?

There’s more in us.

We gotta have energy, we gotta have focus,

we gotta have more talk.

Let’s get it done!

Kiki!

You’ve gotta shoot off the catch.

Let’s go!

- Osborne, the steal. - Beautifully done.

And Rice lays it in.

Handoff! Handoff!

Yes!

Yes!

This is a final-four-caliber team.

No doubt.

You can see them in Cleveland come April.

Rice rattles in a three.

An impressive and authoritative win

as number 12 UCLA dunks number 18 Utah.

The biggest thing I’m proud of is your fight to be us.

Really proud of you. Now, how hungry can you stay?

There’s kind of a moment there

and after that Utah game where we all felt, like,

you know, the energy that had kind of gone away

for a little bit in that tough period of the season,

it was back and you know we were just finding our way again.

Here we go, family.

One, two, three. - Family!

I am a senior and I have the option to choose

if I want to declare from the WNBA draft

or stay another year here,

because I have a fifth year of eligibility left.

And I honestly have no idea.

Like, at first I wanted to leave,

and now it’s just like, you know,

I wanna stay but I also want to leave.

I have no idea.

- The pros are,

she gonna get the money, okay?

She’s gonna be top five draft pick.

The cons, she knows that being in college,

there’s some innocence to it.

You know, going to the WNBA, it’s adulthood.

I think a great example

to describe Senior Night would be just

a basketball graduation,

which is just like your last home game of the season.

Also everybody is gonna be able to have their family

and walk across with their family.

Unfortunately, my family was not able to make it.

They couldn’t get the visa situation straightened up.

Does she know? Is she suspicious?

I don’t think so.

Yup, yup, go!

Kamilla, come on. Yup, Kamilla, good!

Good, good!

Way to stay with it!

Let’s circle up for a second. Listen, listen, listen.

This is kind of an incredible moment

for someone that’s made, like, incredible sacrifices

for her family for the past eight years,

just for the game that she loves, okay?

We got a chance to do something pretty special.

Yep, Kamilla, Kamilla.

Let’s bring the people who also made that sacrifice

for the past eight years.

Bring out her mom and her sister.

from all of us.

Yes.

It was one of the happiest moments in my life.

It was like a dream coming to reality.

It feels amazing to just look back

and look at everything that I went through in my entire life

and everything that I’m accomplishing now.

South Carolina,

the only undefeated team.

Caroso playing in front of her mom and sister

for the first time in the States

since she moved here when she was 15 years old from Brazil.

She cannot ignore six-seven in the paint.

Not only can she score on putbacks,

drop offs and lobs, she’s a tremendous defensive player.

Caroso, 18 points, 14 rebounds

on her Senior Day.

No one has been to stop South Carolina.

29 and oh feels pretty good for the Gamecocks.

The first thing my mom said to me after the game

was just how much she was proud of me,

and how many people walked to her and was like,

"Can I get a picture? I love your daughter."

Well there were a lot of questions heading

into this season on whether this would be

Caitlin Clark’s final one as a Hawkeye.

Clark has not yet confirmed

if she will be entering the upcoming WNBA draft.

The reason it is even a decision for women

is because a rookie salary in the WNBA is 70 grand-ish.

Good job!

A rookie’s salary in the NBA is millions of dollars.

It is a very different enticement for male players

to go from college to the NBA.

- What’s your major? - Marketing.

Are you on schedule to graduate this year?

Yeah, I graduate this semester.

I have like one more class I need, so.

So you’re gonna start your master’s

when you stay here next year?

Maybe. I don’t know.

Yeah? Huh?

I’ll probably just take some random classes

and call it a day. - Huh, yeah?

What are you gonna,

you gonna get a good work study going on next year?

- Oh, I don’t know. - Huh?

Ah, I don’t know.

Does that weigh on your mind a lot?

Yeah, I mean, if this is my last year,

I mean, it would definitely be sad leaving so,

but it would also be like I did everything

I needed to do kind of thing, so that’s what makes it hard.

Like two really good options, but...

An embarrassment of riches.

As the course of the year kind of went on,

I realized what more is there really for me to do here?

I just like kind of feel ready for something new,

and I don’t know like it’s scary thinking

about being a professional and like a working professional,

like, it’s not like college anymore,

and like I’m only 22 years old and I still feel like I’m 10,

but I feel like it’s something I’m definitely ready for.

Iowa women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark

announced on social media Thursday

she’s entering the WNBA draft.

Iowa Star Caitlin Clark said today

she’s gonna go pro.

Clark declared for the WNBA draft

just days Iowa’s Senior Day.

I felt more pressure with that decision than, like,

ever stepping on the basketball court

and playing in front of sold out arenas.

I think the biggest thing like I was worried about

was telling the coaches,

just because you never want to disappoint anybody.

Once I did tell them, like, I felt the weight

of the world was off my shoulders.

Caitlin has had a great college career,

a great college experience as a student,

and it’s time to move on.

It’s time to move on to the next challenge, basketball-wise.

It’s probably time to move on as a human being as well.

And I loved that she announced it when she did

so she could put it behind her,

so the fans could give her

the kind of send off that she deserves.

Just getting that off my chest and, like,

allowing closure for myself, but everybody else around me,

I wanted them to know, like, this is the end.

Take it in.

This is Iowa, where tractors Rumble and Hawkeye fans roar.

The fanfare follows Caitlin Clark wherever she goes,

but especially at home, and as the sun sets on this chapter

of her career, the team eyes the ultimate harvest:

a championship.

When you sort of reflect on the last four years,

where do you think that you’ve left the biggest impact?

Honestly, I think our fans, I think the young kids,

and I think that’s what means the most to me,

is seeing the young girls and the young boys

that scream and wear my jersey every single night.

That’s what makes it so special,

and I think as somebody growing up,

like I used to be that young kid,

and time goes really fast

so that’s never anything you ever take for granted,

and you try to make as much time as you can for them,

and that’s something that just never gets old.

You talk about being inspired as a young kid,

you’ve said it tons of times that it’s Maya Moore

that inspired you to be this generational type of player.

We wanted to make your dream come true.

You’ve made so many dreams come true.

State Farm knew it had been some time since you’d seen Maya,

and like a good neighbor,

State Farm is there. - Oh, jeez.

- And Maya Moore is there. - Oh my gosh.

- Hey, it’s nice to see you. - Oh my God.

My favorite player. I feel like I’m fan-girling so hard.

Oh my God. Thanks for being here.

Hey, this is special.

I’m excited for you. - Oh my God.

- How does it feel to have- - I still feel like

I was this tall and freaking out and I ran across the court,

gave you a hug. - You look taller now.

I know. Now, I’m like taller than you.

Oh my gosh. - Maya, how does it feel

that the best player in the women’s game

was inspired by you?

Oh man, it’s a full-circle moment.

I remember being 10-year-old Maya going up hugging,

you know, Cynthia Cooper or one of the legends,

and just to see that we’re still continuing

to be able to be connected, to be inspired by each other,

to be, you know a family, right?

I just, I love the connection.

It really is a full-circle moment, Caitlin,

’cause who knows, there’s a little girl

that maybe we’ll be talking to in 10 or 12 years from now

that got a hug at Carver from you as well.

That’s right. Oh my gosh.

I feel like I’m just a little girl fan-girling.

Thanks for coming. Oh my God.

Absolutely. This is so awesome.

Welcome to Iowa City.

Caitlin Clark has a chance to pass Pete Maravich

and become the all-time leading scorer

in major college basketball history.

She needs 18 points. She averages 30 on the season.

And on guard, a six-point senior,

from Iowa, number 22,

Caitlin Clark!

Clark, quick release.

Caitlin Clark is on the board.

And that one blocked.

That’s hers. Couldn’t get to the basket.

Rim runner.

That Killer Cate.

22-10. Timeout Buckeyes.

Clark again from downtown. She’s six points away, folks.

Got Caitlin at the line.

For the record.

She ties it with that one.

This, for college basketball history.

It’s in!

She does it with a foul shot.

Caitlin Clark becomes the all-time leading scorer

in major college basketball history,

passing Pistol Pete Maravich,

a record that’s lasted for 54 years.

Passing Pistol Pete is an incredible,

incredible accomplishment, and I think it’s fair

to recognize that he played for three years at LSU,

and he played without a three-point line.

It’s also fair to recognize that no other player was able

to pass it in the last 54 years.

Have you ever heard such an ovation

in all your life?

The whole team runs out on the floor.

They hoist Maravich to their shoulders.

Like, let’s acknowledge how incredible that is.

Not only did she do it,

she did it on a team that won basketball games.

It wasn’t a singular mission

of "I’m going to score a lot of points."

She scored a lot of points

in a way that nobody had done it in 54 years.

The Hawkeyes of this year.

cedes a loss to Ohio State.

I think I would’ve been a really good player,

no matter where I went, but I don’t think

it would’ve been to this magnitude.

Let’s go Gamecocks! Let’s go Gamecocks!

It’s the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament

Semifinal, we’re in for a show.

After South Carolina

finished the regular season undefeated,

they get ready to play in the SEC tournament,

at the game against Tennessee.

They found themselves in a dog fight and down,

about to lose this game.

South Carolina will have to inbound with 1.1.

South Carolina, Tennessee.

They need a three to win it or a two to tie it,

but there’s only one second left on the clock.

Even though there was 1.1 seconds in the game,

we was just like, "We still in this."

We prepare for moments like this.

Raven went to the sideline, the ref gave her the ball,

and then, like, Coach Staley, like, called my name,

and she was like, "Kamilla, Kamilla, you shoot it."

But Kamilla at 6’7", you don’t think,

"Hey, she’s the one we’re gonna give the ball to

for a three point shot."

Cardoso for three! Makes it in!

A miracle for the Gamecocks!

There’s no way that just happened.

Kamilla, who hasn’t made a three in her career

and that’s the one she hits to go

to the SEC championship game?

That night it was hard for everybody to sleep.

I felt like the adrenaline was still kicking.

But I gotta flip the page.

We got a big one coming tomorrow,

and we gotta get ready for it.

And 24 hours later,

you go from this high

where Kamilla is like the hero

to this low where Kamilla is the antagonist,

where Kamilla is the villain.

This might be a little spicy

in the paint today, Peck. - Oh yeah.

As a former post player, I love it

when you have a great post battle,

and we certainly had that with South Carolina and LSU.

I think Angel said "I’m bringing it."

Kamilla said, "I love it."

That was a game where it was really physical,

and probably allowed to become a little too physical.

Six-oh-one, Gamecocks.

For Wiley.

And that could be an intentional foul.

Flau’Jae pushes Watkins.

That’s when Cardoso comes up and pushes Flau’Jae down.

Everyone but five players for LSU were ejected.

Six players remain for South Carolina.

Kamilla Cardoso, the only one ejected for fighting,

so she will not be able to play

in their first round NCAA tournament game.

It was the manifestation of a lot of frustration.

Things that she felt like weren’t getting called,

some hair pulling, some pushing,

just a lot of physicality between these two teams

who have been clear they don’t like each other.

In South Carolina,

an eighth SEC tournament title

in the last 10 seasons.

That sort of mark on her, I think,

left an image in some people’s minds like,

hey, is this an issue for her?

There was the push in Brazil, there was this.

The big headline

and the most entertaining game,

the greatest theater was South Carolina-LSU.

I’m not buying that this is good for the sport.

I guess it brings them into the zeitgeist,

’cause more people will see that there was a melee

at a women’s basketball game.

She went and protected and enforced,

and I’ve never used enforced in the context

of women’s basketball. - Women’s basketball.

But that’s what happened.

I don’t have a family here and these people is my family.

The Coach Staley, my whole coaching staff,

my whole teammates, they are my family,

and I’m gonna defend them no matter what,

because they are more than teammates.

They are more than friends. They are my sisters.

My mom always teach me, "When you make a mistake,

you gotta go and apologize."

I wanted to apologize to Flau’Jae in person,

but I couldn’t leave the locker room.

So I was like, "Okay, I’m gonna go to Twitter.

I’m gonna apologize."

Now South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso

released this statement on X post-game saying,

"I would like to extend my sincerest apologies

for my actions during today’s game."

Honestly, I felt really bad because I made a mistake,

and I gotta deal with the consequences.

Tonight doesn’t just start

a march towards madness.

Now, for these 68 teams,

it represents the first steps towards destiny.

Chance to separate the good, the great,

from the champions.

All right, let’s get going.

We’re only gonna be out here for another hour and 20,

so let’s make it great.

Iowa on three, one, two, three!

Iowa!

Pick up!

By the time the NCA tournament came around,

I think it’s the biggest thing we’ve ever seen in our sport.

Go make contact, Hawks!

I wrote down the things

that I’m the most worried about facing, you know, teams.

I wrote down a big post, we need to double,

crashers, people that crash really hard

and really intense ball pressure.

Those are the things that fear,

I fear in the postseason, probably, the most.

Good. Good.

There we go. There we go.

Nice job!

Once you get to NCAA tournament time,

it’s tough, ’cause I knew in the back of my head,

like if we had won a few more games,

we could have put ourself in a position

to have maybe a slightly easier road.

This is my 31st year of Division 1 coaching,

and this is such a special time.

It never gets old to see their faces

as we get to find out who we’re gonna play

and what our road to Cleveland is going to be.

We have got quite a night for you ahead.

Brackets open right now

as we talk about the full 68 reveal in women’s basketball,

South Carolina entering this tournament, undefeated again,

what are you guys most looking forward to when it comes

to what this bracket will reveal?

Not only who the one-seeds are,

but their path to get to the final four.

As we get ready

for the regional one in Albany,

your number one overall seed,

it is the undefeated South Carolina Gamecocks.

They’re your number one overall seed,

fourth straight year as a one-seed.

For instant reaction, we get it out to South Carolina,

Courtney Lyle standing by with Dawn Staley.

You guys will be without Kamilla Cardoso

after the altercation on Sunday.

Since you’ve get gotten to talk to your team,

how did you address that with them

moving forward into the tournament?

I mean, we talked about it, we debriefed.

We don’t want that to happen ever again.

We see the impact that it will have.

We all know we’re a better basketball team

when Kamilla Cardoso is in a lineup.

We’ll make do hopefully until she’s able to come back.

- Wanna get a spot? - Let’s do it.

We’re gonna go sit down.

I’m feeling good. I’m excited.

You always feel like a little anxious

when you sit down to see your draw,

and I think our group knows better than anybody,

you gotta gotta come ready to play.

Turn it up!

No, like actually turn the volume up.

Let’s move on to regional two in Albany.

And your one-seed is the Iowa Hawkeyes.

They’re piecing it together.

Yes, Caitlin Clark is lighting it up,

but the other pieces also have contributed as well,

and they’re looking to get back to a final four.

And we move on now.

Third seed, the LSU Tigers.

Look, LSU is playing

some of their best basketball.

I don’t think anybody in that bracket wants to see them.

I think we’ll be at two.

They have a 29-game winning streak,

second-longest...

Moving on,

and your two-seeded, UCLA Bruins.

Highest seed in program history.

Well, listen, I have UCLA and LSU in my final four.

So when you talk about these two teams

being in the same region,

this is definitely going to be a tough battle.

We do better with teams like LSU.

We wanna go down this way? - Oh yeah.

That we can, you know, hunker down in the paint.

- Yeah. - Make sure

we control the rebounds. - Mm-hmm.

It’s good.

What are your thoughts?

I think it’s a difficult,

more difficult than like Notre Dame.

- Yeah. - Or (indistinct),

that game. - Mm-hmm.

I think LSU is a better team than them.

I haven’t watched ’em a ton though, honestly.

They haven’t played that many Top 25 teams either.

Mm-mm.

But I think if you can get past them,

I feel like I’d rather play Iowa

than some of the other one-seeds, you know?

Yeah.

Which one-seed is the most vulnerable?

Iowa. Iowa has a really tough road.

I’m not saying they can’t do it,

but this is a tough way for them to go.

God, that’s so much easier than ours.

That is so much easier than ours.

That is an easy bracket.

I thought the Selection Committee did us a little dirty.

I thought they would’ve helped us out a little bit,

to be honest.

If you look at the overall picture, it’s overwhelming.

Just to get to the final four now

we’re gonna have to see LSU or UCLA, too.

That’s what I thought.

I thought they would give us a little easier path,

but I will say if I gotta pick our two-seed,

I would’ve picked UCLA.

Like, I think they’re very beatable.

For Iowa to be, not only with LSU,

but to be with UCLA, just blew me away.

They’re the number two overall seed,

so they should have the second-easiest bracket.

We see UCLA, which is just a dominant powerhouse team

built to win a national championship.

You see LSU, who has been playing

really high-level basketball,

but as I’m looking at that bracket,

I was like, this is the murderer’s row

just for the right to get to the final four,

and it seemed, it seemed daunting.

Full court press is presented by State Farm.

Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.

Sometimes I feel like my identity gets so wrapped up

in like one game or my performance,

and I think I just have to remember I’m working

for like a collective body.

With my teammates,

they always helping me and supporting me

and some days, you know, when you’re a basketball player,

you have bad days and they always there for me.

Everybody’s going through so many different things

and we all have lives outside of basketball,

but also that’s what makes us so great on the court too.

I just have to continuously remind ourselves

like it’s a grind, it’s gonna be a process,

but this is what I love to do

and this is what I signed up for.

Omaha!
