"Full Court Press" is presented by State Farm.
Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.
I think I motivate my team with my passion and my energy.
I feel like that’s always been how I’ve played,
and I’ve never changed,
and I think that’s just contagious for the rest of my team.
I motivate my teammates on the court mainly
by leading by example and showing them how to get it done.
I feel like our team is really connected
so once one player is playing hard,
we all just play hard for each other.
This is the best team I had the best chemistry with.
And now, "Full Court Press"
presented by State Farm.
It’s not just that she’s great.
It’s that everywhere she pops up now is an event.
The greatest women’s
basketball player we’ve seen.
Caitlin Clark, Caitlin Clark.
She is without a doubt a revelation.
Clark is the platinum certified
rock star of college basketball.
Young fans wanna more like Caitlin, not Mike.
Fame.
I feel like it’s still something
that’s really hard for me to wrap my head around.
I was once that little Iowa girl.
who was inspired to dream big.
Action.
Absolute worldwide phenomenon last year
during the run when everybody kind of got introduced.
It’s that easy.
It’s been so exciting watching women’s sports recently.
Caitlin Clark.
This moment we kinda needed something.
This is that moment.
To just like, yeah and Caitlin’s that moment.
Wait till this girl gets to the WNBA.
She is somethin’ special.
This is not the same as what it was.
Me and you, we cannot go
and just walk around like nobody knows who you are.
That’s not the reality of the situation.
And I think that there’s still moments
where she realizes that, and she’s like,
damn, like, that kind of sucks.
Oh my gosh, I can’t feel my face.
Are we soft?
We’re just too soft.
We drove from Chicago to see you yesterday,
to see the whole team. - Oh, thanks, thanks.
You were awesome.
Thank you.
You’re amazing.
Thanks.
For a minute, I thought they were talking to me.
They are.
Don’t listen.
They are.
They’re not talkin’ to me.
Hardest part about being Caitlin Clark I would say
having to feel like you’re always like on.
We came from Wisconsin.
Ready?
You just have bad days,
and there’s days where you don’t wanna talk to anyone.
But somebody comes up to you,
and this is their 10-second interaction with you
so you better smile and be kind.
But at the same time, it’s just like,
like you just wanna be normal sometimes.
Good game.
Thanks, appreciate it.
Generational player
comes with a lot of responsibility.
It’s not easy being Caitlin.
Anyone who’s doing anything great
is gonna be inundated with haters.
Caitlin Clark is a generational star
and with it comes perks and scrutiny.
I just wanna sleep for like three weeks straight
after the season’s over.
You wanna sleep for three weeks straight
during the season too.
That too.
I love sleeping.
It’s awesome.
- Shoot. - Shoot.
Okay, I’ll shoot.
What’s happening?
But I don’t see any hoop.
No, I said that because of.
I’m sorry, shoot.
- Where’s the hoop? - They don’t have one.
My acting skills are fire.
Can you say the jingle for us right now?
No.
Please?
Caitlin was the right player at the right time.
She’s able to get into the public consciousness.
People say, hey, I don’t watch basketball.
I don’t know anything about sports.
I know who this Caitlin Clark kid is
because I saw her in funny State Farm commercials.
They’re gonna want the jingle for this.
Okay.
Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.
Don’t worry.
NIL, Name, Image, Likeness, enacted in 2021.
Players can’t be paid directly to perform,
but they can make money off their name, image, and likeness.
One of the biggest shifts in college athletics,
you had these players that make a lot of money
for the universities,
and a lot of money is made off of these players.
They couldn’t make any money for themselves.
And then, 2021 hits, and everything changes,
and you finally give these players an opportunity
to not only put themselves in a better situation financially
for themselves and their family
but to also grow their brand.
My name’s Caitlin, and this is Nike Tech.
Before NIL, the narrative of the NCAA was
we start allowing players to make money
it’s gonna hurt the women’s game.
Women are getting paid now,
and they are not only competitive with men.
In many instances, they are out-earning men.
Kiki was the first college athlete
to have the Jordan brand deal, and that’s groundbreaking.
Three, two, one.
Kiki, Kiki, Kiki.
I started talking to the Jordan folks
my senior year of high school.
I wanted to do a shoe that meant a lot in terms of like
where I was from because I thought doing
cherry blossoms for DC and just like my hometown
and where I grew up would be really cool.
So yeah.
- Yeah, Kiki. - Yeah.
NIL has illuminated for people
how valuable female athletes are in the marketplace.
Honestly to have her own PE, I’m just so proud.
Like, that is so cool.
I just can’t.
Goin’ to college in LA, I think the opportunities here
are really different than
if I had gone to a school in a smaller town.
I mean, just the market of LA,
all the people that come through here,
it’s opened up a lot of new opportunities for me.
You know how I did like the deal with Beats?
Yeah, yeah.
So, we’re gonna go to like the Beats studio,
and it was so cool.
They created like a custom headphones, basically, for me.
Kiki represents the next generation in that she’s
kind of like this walking kind of corporation of excellence.
- Hey. - Hi.
Good to see you.
Good to see you.
How are you?
Are you ready to see your custom headphones?
Yes, I am.
All right, let’s open ’em up.
Dang, these are sick.
Yeah.
Dang.
I love the coloring and like little details in the design.
The colors really speak to me,
and I like you know the UCLA blue.
My hair in the ponytail and the poof
is kind of like my signature thing.
I really like it.
I think the NIL environment and experience
has been really excellent for her
as a sort of a four-year long kind of business internship,
requiring her to think about who she is
and how she wants to communicate who she is.
My dreams are to use my platform to impact others
and be more than just a basketball player.
Thank you.
International players like Kamilla,
they’re not allowed to do work
with the student visa that they are granted.
Most of the things you do for NIL’s classified as that,
and so therefore they can’t do that without the possibility
of having their visa revoked.
Money for me is accomplishing my dreams
because my first dream to come play basketball here,
it was to give a better life to my family.
If she had NILs, life would be totally different for her.
It is a big disadvantage,
but we just try like to not be focused on it
and play and and give the best that she can.
All right, we comin’.
Let’s go ladies.
Raiders and Chiefs about to kick off,
and before they do we say happy holidays to you.
We went to the Chiefs-Raiders game on Christmas.
It was good to get all the cousins
and aunts and uncles together
and kind of celebrate Christmas
a little different than we usually do.
Let’s go Hawks.
That’s right, baby.
Let’s go Hawks.
It took me back to my childhood in a way.
I have family that lives in Kansas City,
and we would go to the Chiefs games when I was growing up.
There’s Chris Jones right here.
Just wait, when he walks over past us.
You’re down there with her and watching it all unfold,
and sometimes Brent and I just look at each other like,
wow, she lives in a different world than we do.
You gotta get a picture of this.
Hello.
I’m so happy to meet you, Caitlin.
Caitlin, nice to meet you.
I’m Jim Nance.
Oh, you’re the basketball player.
- I am. - How are you?
No, she’s the legend.
You’re the best basketball player I’ve ever seen.
Thanks, appreciate it, thank you.
Tony, come on, get in.
Come on, Tony.
Woo.
She’s the boss.
Awesome, thank you.
Getting to do something outside and away from basketball
and be with all my family,
those aren’t moments I really get too often.
Pressure from behind.
Somehow got away.
It’s caught for the touchdown.
I miss out on a lot of family events.
It was special to be able to get
to share that with my family.
Pat, Pat, Pat, Pat.
Six older cousins growing up, she was in the middle
of this pack of six boys who just did not give her a break.
If we were playin’ football,
then she was gonna try to play football.
If it was capture the flag
or kick the can outside in the yards,
then that’s what she’d be doin’,
and she’d be running after us, running from us.
They put her in a snow suit
and throw water balloons at her.
I mean, they were just awful to her.
We have nothing to do all day.
It’s hot here and humid,
and she has like all of her snow gear on
so that she doesn’t feel getting hit,
but she just wanted to play with us.
I just wanted to do everything that they did.
On the day my older brother learned
to ride his bike with no training wheels,
I did too because I was so mad
that like he could do it, but I couldn’t.
Princess.
Caitlin had a small pink bike,
and we really hadn’t taught her how to ride the bike,
but we were teaching Blake.
So, I like got out my pink bike,
and I’m like, mom, take my training wheels off.
Let’s go.
Up, put your other foot up.
Oh Cate, now that Blake’s learned to ride,
Catie’s givin’ it a shot, and she’s doing quite well.
If my brother can do this without training wheels,
I can do this without training wheels.
Cate.
There she goes, yeah.
Look at that.
Pedal, pedal, there.
There it is.
Keep pedaling.
Wow, look at that.
Catie, great job.
Everything had to be a competition all the time.
Colin and Caitlin, they were playin’ basketball,
the two of them somehow,
and it always gets physical down in the basement.
I remember I was playing good defense.
She missed a shot.
I like was getting so angry and pissed
that I like just chucked him into the wall,
and it was like the corner.
And he like put his hand back and like went like this,
and there was just like, just blood everywhere.
And then, sure enough, here comes
Caitlin up the stairs with Colin,
and he’s holding his head.
They get in the car.
They go up the street.
Kid gets like five staples in his head.
She just had that fire, that competitiveness,
and wasn’t afraid of showing that to other people.
Another sold out crowd
files into Carver-Hawkeye Arena
on the University of Iowa campus.
The main attraction, Caitlin Clark, of course,
and the fourth-ranked team in the country.
Michigan State’s really good.
They’re not ranked, but they’re a really, really great
solid basketball team.
They played us really well.
We could never figure out a way to pull away.
23 seconds to go.
All tied up at 73.
Gotta hold it for the last shot here,
and Iowa’s just gotta let Caitlin Clark be Caitlin Clark.
It’s a tie game, but I’m feeling really confident.
Pressure is something you embrace as a competitor.
I think that’s always kind of been who I am.
I love the big moments.
I love the big games.
It’s the the desire to take the shot.
She wants to take the shot.
That’s just Caitlin Clark.
I think everyone in America
knows who it’s going to.
Anticipation here.
Davis, time winding down.
Clark for the win.
Oh, she does it time and time again
and walks off with the W.
No one expects more out of her than her.
It doesn’t matter if she’s playing
Colin and I in the basement,
if she’s playin’ Final Four games,
in a National Championship,
to her it’s all the same.
And it’s part of why the biggest of moments
don’t have like much effect on her at all.
That is the most Caitlin Clark way
to win a game.
Logo threes, it’s her signature.
Iowa wins 76-73, 11 wins in a row.
Gotta make it close so I can do that.
She put up a 40 piece, eight threes,
and walks off with the game winner.
76-73, the Hawkeyes win
an exciting game to start 2024.
We win at the buzzer.
It wasn’t our best game.
It wasn’t our best game. - No, certainly not.
But hey, all that matters is we won.
It was exciting.

I wanted to keep everybody entertained a little bit.

Keep everyone on their toes.
Yeah, what the scouting report said.
Keep it close.
Make everybody entertained.
Hit a buzzer beater.
It was clutch.
All right, we play Rutgers tomorrow so.

What were some of your observations?
Coming from the East Coast
I never really had anything against USC
so I didn’t think too much of them,
but then I talked to all like my Cali teammates and friends.
And they’re like, I hate SC so much.
I never like really understood it honestly until this year.
Okay, stop.
They’re not very good in transition
and gettin’ matched up, okay?
Just because they’re in front of you
does not mean they’re guarding you.
I feel like they’re kind of, I dunno, kind of cocky.
We just don’t like each other, don’t match well.
Juju’s goin’ wherever she is.
So whoever Juju is guarding,
you have to know when the ball goes inside,
you need to be calling for the ball
’cause she is going no matter who she’s guarding.
A lot of buzz around at USC.

Reese comes up with the O board.
Van Lith, got it.
Got a three, plus the foul away from the ball.
I mean, Kamilla is just bein’ pushed around.
I gotta get Kamilla out.
Well, Kamilla Cardoso
in that first quarter did not score.
I know she really wanted to play well,

We didn’t.
Kamilla, you hit big buckets when we needed big buckets.
You did.
You can’t.
You can’t dog pound on yourself for the negative
and never come out of it and see the positive.
You can’t do it, okay,
’cause it’ll fuck with your mentals, and you can’t.
Let’s go, nobody. - Wait.
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Angel ain’t get her double-double.
Kamilla was who we needed her to be in the second half.
The game that we played at LSU, it’s gonna be a norm for us.
We got other fan bases commenting on the game.
We got NBA players.
We got Robin Roberts commenting.
We won.
Together on three.
One, two, three. - Together.
Caitlin Clark continues
to transcend the program
in ways that once seemed impossible.
For the first time in the history
of Iowa women’s basketball,
every game for the season is sold out.
The average purchase price is $521.
The highest ticket on StubHub is over $4,000.
The Caitlin Clark invasion
officially took over Evanston tonight.
Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes,
this is the 11th time, folks,
they’ve sold out on the road this season.
We’ve played in a sold out environment
almost every single game, home or away.
From the banks of the Olentangy River
in Columbus, Ohio, welcome to Sunday Big Ten basketball,
as the 18-1 Iowa Hawkeyes, winners of 15 in a row,
get set to face off against a hot Ohio State team.
Goin’ and playin’ in other people’s environments,
it can be tough.
When there’s 15,000 people on the road
cheerin’ against you,
it’s a lot different than 2000.
It just adds a whole nother element.
To find the shot that you want.
One possession game, McMahon, okay.
Look at those long strides.
To keep this ranking,
to perform at this utmost level every single night,
and that can wear on you.
Did it all afternoon.
Gets her own rebound.
Pumped up Cotie McMahon.
Give and go opportunity.
Davis keeps it.
Yeah, they led by 12
with under nine minutes to go in the game,
and Iowa just didn’t play well down the stretch.
10 to go on the shot clock.
Taylor.
Oh, four quarters just wasn’t enough.
So, we gotta keep on playin’.
Overtime in Columbus tied at 83.
Iowa being patient.
Blocked by Mikulasikova.
Mikulasikova holding the follow through.
That’s big time.
This Ohio State Buckeye team,
and they have taken down the number two team in the country.
Caitlin Clark with 45 points.
When we lost the game,
I think we were all kind of shocked.
And then, we’re leaving the court,
and people just start coming onto the court.
We had never been a part of something like that.
As the Hawkeyes suffer
their first loss in Big Ten play.
Ohio State fans stormed the court.
Caitlin’s comin’ off the court.
She gets hit by a fan and falls to the ground.
I was just trying to get out of there,
and didn’t see her, and kind of collided pretty good.
And then, we kind of just both fell over.
Kind of scary.
Could have caused a pretty serious injury to me,
and knocked the wind out of me,
but luckily my teammates kind of picked me up
and got me off the court.
And their AD already came and apologized to me.
So, I really appreciate that,
and you know, that’s just what comes with the territory.
Because Caitlin is who she is,
the reaction to anything that happens to Caitlin
is gonna be polarizing.
Fans do not belong on the court ever.
The NBA, Major League Baseball, they don’t do it.
When somebody gets hurt, we’re gonna get serious about it.
I think we all have seen the Caitlin Clark effect
on the ratings and the money
and how much tickets are and everything.
Can we not get a fuckin’ somebody
surrounding Caitlin Clark when maybe a bunch
of Ohioans are chargin’?
- Did she get a technical? - Who?
Caitlin Clark for that flop.
- Flop? - Whoa.
When you’re the best,
people wanna tear ’em down.
They wanna find something wrong with her.
And that one just became,
oh, she ran into the fan on purpose and faked it.
Like, that’s the craziest thing I’ve ever heard.
Did she flop?
She accentuated the contact after.
She threw her hands.
I mean, she flopped.
Everybody has an opinion.
People thought I ran into her on purpose,
which, why would I ever do that?
I don’t know.
But, yeah, it definitely gets annoying.
There’s gonna be people that love you.
There’s gonna be people that hate you.
There’s gonna be a lot of people
that wanna see you fail.
If you’re going to break a record,
to me, if it’s legitimate, you have to break that record
in the same amount of time that that player set it.
Nobody’s takin’ 40 shots a game
like you see across the country.
We’re not that kind of team.
I hold great, or the levels of immortality
or the pantheon, to when you win championships.
You can not go down as the
greatest college basketball player of all time
without winning a National Championship.
You can’t do it.
You can stay off Twitter.
You can stay off Instagram.
You can mute people, block people, hide comments.
It doesn’t matter.
Eventually you’re gonna see something.
She sees what people say.
I don’t think anybody can understand
the pressure she’s under, the microscope she’s under.
Do I think I’m polarizing?
Yeah, probably.
I feel like the way I like play the game,
the way I carry myself,
the things I can do on the court,
it’s probably a lot of things
that a lot of people haven’t seen before,
specifically on the women’s side of basketball.
Whether they’re rooting for her,
or they’re rooting against her,
that transcendence is what the game has needed.
I leave to Brazil on February 5th
to go play for my national team.
We’re gonna be competing for the Olympics.
If we recruit an international player,
we’re gonna give them an opportunity
to play for their national team
because we want them to be Olympians.
She’ll miss Missouri, and she’ll miss Connecticut.
I know it burns her up.
It was a really hard decision.
But also like I know my national team needs me.
This is very important because Brazil haven’t
been in Olympics for a long time.
Whenever like you talk about the Olympics
and your national team, like this is huge,
and Kamilla makes the difference
in the Brazilian national team.
She is the anchor of the Brazilian national team,
and the hopes of your country are on your shoulders.
I feel like there’s not too many opportunities for kids
that came from poor places like I did to be here.
So, for me it’s really, really, really important.
For me, it was really hard at the beginning
because they used to make fun of me.
They used to bully me,
and I used to go home and cry
And sometimes I used to just fight them
because I was very electric.
When I play for the Olympics qualifier,
it is actually gonna be with my mom and my sister’s
first time watching me play.
I just wanna go out there, play the best as I can
so they can just be proud of me
and see the woman that I’m becomin’.
The FIBA Women’s
Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
Three teams will move on to the Paris Games.
The first two games were Australia and Serbia,
two powers in women’s basketball.
They just fell a little bit short at the end
of both those games,
which set up a must-win game against Germany,
where they had to win by at least eight points
to qualify for the Paris Olympics.
It’s the final game
of FIBA Women’s Olympic qualifying Tournament
between Brazil and Germany.
They played with a bunch of passion
here on their home floor.
The one thing they have not done
is sent the crowd home happy with a victory.
Fiebich for three, and she drills it.
A 9-0 start for Germany,
and they silence and stun this crowd.
Here she is battling, Dontessi.
Goes back to the same move.
Cardoso flies in for the rebound.
What more can you ask for
from a senior in college to come to your national team
and play your heart out?
And now she has 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Two minutes to play in the game.
Brazil with a chance to go to Paris.
They lead by four.
They have to win by eight.
Satou Sabally will go to the line.
And Kamilla Cardoso just picked up her fifth foul
and also shoved Satou Sabally in the back.
Wow.
You don’t wanna see that,
and that’s from lack of experience from Cardoso.
This is something that she’s gonna take away
for the rest of her career.
Disqualified foul, number 10
for pushing from the back.
Disqualified foul, number 10.
Floater in the lane, missed it.
Followed her own and put it up and in.
Ties the game.
And Germany up one after the foul shot goes through.
Brazil’s gonna run out of time at home,
and Germany are headed to Paris.
Brazil is home, family.
It’s the place where I grew up.
But I feel like USA is the place
where I got the opportunity to follow my dreams.
Clark, Clark, Clark, Clark, Clark.
Arguably,
this could be the most watched
women’s basketball game in history.
Goin’ into the Nebraska game, Caitlin wakes up.
She’s really sick.
She’s says to me, "I don’t know if I can play it."
I felt awful.
I had like completely sweated through the entire bedsheets.
Like, it was just really bad.
I had like a gigantic Ziploc bag
full of every drug you could imagine.
She’s going
for the national scoring record today.
39 for the NCAA all-time scoring record.
Here is the road to the record
for Caitlin Clark.
38 to tie Kelsey Plum.
39 to have it all by herself.
She’s like sittin’ on the couch.
She’s like, "I have to play."
I’m like, "Yeah, you do.
"You have to play."
We got a little bit of adversity here.
Not a lot, but a little bit, right?
There’s so many people that count on her,
people who spent thousands of dollars on tickets
to go to that game.
They wanna see her get close to breaking the record,
but they wanna see her perform.
There’s nothin’ as fun
as goin’ into somebody else’s arena and ownin’ it.
For me, like it was never an option.
It was like I was playing no matter what.
Whether I was dying, I was gonna go out there and play.
How do you think Nebraska will deal
with Caitlin Clark today?
Well, I think they’re
gonna give her different looks.
That’s not the look
that they wanted there.
Clark to the bucket, two and a foul.
Caitlin Clark throws a three.
Out of nowhere sometimes.
39 is an insane amount of points.
It’s kind a testament to her that I was like,
I guess I gotta go to that game now
because 39’s pretty in the cards.
Two and a foul for Caitlin Clark.
Eight points for the record.
Will she or won’t she?
Fourth quarter hits.
They’re up 14.
Iowa starts to take their foot off the gas,
and Nebraska comes storming back.
The Big Ten Freshman of the Year
keepin’ that play alive.
And the foul.
You all right?
All right.
Caitlin was exhausted.
She was sick, missed practice the day before.
We were ready to try to give her an IV at halftime.
This is way too tight of a game
to be thinkin’ let’s take out Caitlin.
Caitlin Clark has not
scored here in the fourth.
Nebraska was so motivated to win this game.
Shit, no, no.
They had never beaten her, specifically.
In the fourth quarter,
I literally just lost all gas.
Caitlin Clark with five for the tie.
It’s no good.
The frustration of feeling like
that game was one we should have won.
Bullshit, that team is not fuckin’ better than us.
Are you fucking kidding me?
Are you fuckin’ kidding me?
We had a 14-point lead.
Pissed it away again.
Kelsey Plum will remain
number one in the record books for at least one more game
as Iowa suffers a disastrous fourth quarter collapse
while Caitlin Clark plays maybe the single worst quarter
of her entire collegiate career.
You gotta earn it.
You earn it in practice.
You earn it through your preparation.
You earn it by knowing your scouting report.
You earn it by boxin’ the fuck out.
Iowa, one, two, three. - Iowa.
Omaha.
