[Music]

it's going to be a sacrifice

[Music]

i bring you the life of your son

this man's a murderer

[Music]

tarzan

orphaned at birth in darkest africa

raised by the great apes

he grew up in the primitive world of the

jungle

until fate brought him face to face with

his past

taking his rightful place as earl of

greystoke tarzan soon became

disenchanted with civilization

he returned home to africa

tarzan

lord of the jungle

[Music]

oh

you're looking at two years of research

now by all accounts as shaw should be

right there and that's where we'll find

the father of diamonds on the other side

of twin bog you've been to the mountain

no it's tribal legend no one knows if

ash how really exists i'm sure it does

the natives believe that twin bacca is

bewitched

i doubt you'll get anybody to go with

you

i was rather hoping

you would

if ash air does exist his people went to

a lot of trouble to not be found why

dishonor that

tarzan i'm an anthropologist

according to legend this father of

diamonds cast a spell over the asharians

we've got a right to know how and why

and what of their rights

i honor that

but you know western man we are curious

by nature

and sometimes greedy by whose standards

by his own

the beast in you still rears its head

tarzan

i remember emptying many a glass of grey

stoke over this very argument

brian

my opinion hasn't changed

and i admire my friend you have

conviction

me

guess i'll just have to go it alone

hey brian brian excuse me it's a friend

uh

timber

i've been listening

i'll go with you

temba

what can you gain from this

maybe nothing but i won't know unless i

go i'm only interested in learning

and not in hurting anyone

[Music]

[Music]

some people think this thousand is a

spirit

when he kills gives a cry of a bull ape

said i have a feeling this spirit

bleeds

stay here

what are you doing protecting the

asharians no

now only three of us will know the way

[Music]

this is where i leave you

it's becoming clear to me why ashar is

known as the forbidden city

as clear as the eye season the darkness

and just as uncertain

be careful

get out of my way

[Music]

would you please get bogani to move

just tell him

i've tried he won't listen

be firm make him respect you okay

[Music]

[Music]

i don't see any need for this but in

case something happens will you see that

my sister gets this

be here when you get back

[Music]

i met tarzan in biology class at oxford

he could never fathom the benefit of

dissecting animals unless he was going

to eat them

nature takes care of its own

we are the animals our respect

yes of course

animals

what is it

listen

to what i don't hear anything that's

just it

look out

[Music]

uh

ah

[Music]

task

we meet again

if you will

the map i don't know what you're talking

about

come on professor

you're not the only one who does this

research i don't have it

of course not

lindani

then danny won't be joining us

can't trust the hide help these days

this is task

soldier of fortune thief and murderer

hello he knows about the diamond

we'll take him to luango and wait for

the territorial magistrate if he knows

it's a sure bit others know too

if a shah exists someone has to warn

them

don't be a fool

you can't put a price on that diamond

you can make all of us rich

all of us

let's go

[Music]

there'll be plenty for you

[Music]

[Music]

yes

[Music]

i know

[Music]

sorry

ma'am

would you know if the magistrate is

around oh he's away until thursday i

also have business with him

thank you

how about a little uh liquid refreshment

uh

would you care to join us i'd rather

have a drink with a crocodile excuse me

can be arranged you stay here

is anybody

here bartender

[Music]

about time you showed up

brian doesn't have the map

neither does this fool

that leaves tarzan

[Music]

[Music]

three men

brian went that way

tempo and another there

[Music]

toward

luango timmy can take care of himself

brian's the one who needs my help

[Music]

i hear

[Music]

hello

i'm not gonna hurt you no no i know you

won't die i know you won't tell zen

you know my name

i'm helen charles

brian's sister

[Music]

i know you're afraid of tarzan's anger

but you'll never know about this

no one will recognize him when the lions

are finished feasting on him

[Music]

thank you

now that's a much better welcome

you shouldn't be in the jungle alone

i know but

i had to

i was in luango when a voice behind me

said don't move

and then he said that my brother was in

trouble and that i'd find him where the

trail met the river

did you see this man

no by the time i looked around he was

gone what were you doing in lawango

waiting for passage

my brother's not the only adventurer in

this family you know

the wongo is evil

the spoils of civilization

well they forgot to mention that in the

travel guide

my brother told me what a strange man

you were you didn't say you were such a

suspicious type

brian entrusted a map to me

to a place called ashar well

you're lucky it's more than you ever

trusted me with

he was trying to save isha from the same

fate as luango

that means keeping away

outsiders

i'll find him for you he might be your

friend but he's still my brother

and i don't know if this man is speaking

the truth or not but i'm not going to

rest until i find him

now either you can point me in a

direction or i'll choose one myself

in any case i'm going after him

[Music]

am i glad to see you

we must find tarzan get me down

i i do not have time for this okay

oh you dumb guerilla

hit the rope on the tree right now oh

you think that's funny huh you are

mindful god are you

okay

i'm just gonna stay here and swing the

rest of my life on

if you're my brother's friend how come

you didn't go with him to a shop

he's my friend because he respects my

way hmm but do you respect his

at times

maybe brian would have been all right if

you'd gone with him

we don't know if he's not

what are they saying

there's going to be a sacrifice

us

what are you doing

stay here till i get back

[Music]

oh

[Music]

[Music]

uh

[Music]

[Music]

ugh

[Music]

it was the spirit we spoke to

a false spirit

[Music]

i bring you the life of your son

there's a warning

not kill the white man

[Music]

i don't know who you are friend

you got more guts in my porter's head

i'm in your debt

oh

[Music]

[Music]

yeah i'm a romantic heart

i read somewhere in harper's about the

great white hunters in africa i fancied

myself with one

it's an expensive fantasy

money is the maker of dreams my friend

there's one for my wall

damn it that could have been a trophy

so could you

i want you to take this trail to a

stream at least to a village

there you can hire a guy to nairobi

wait a minute you're gonna leave me here

alone i was nearly the main course of

the and banquet no no no i'm going with

you it's not possible

you risk me only to abandon me

it's a short walk and should be no

problem for a great hunter like yourself

[Music]

it's about time

what took you so long

ants

[Music]

if the forbidden city exists should be

here

but maybe there isn't a forbidden city

i i mean maybe the father of diamonds is

just a tale

maybe the joke's finally on brian

he was here

he crossed the lake

how

[Music]

uh

natives often keep canoes hidden

[Music]

brian was always smarter

wittier

i always walk to my brother's shadow

who puts you there

nice try

but in my family brian star always shone

brighter

and that bothers you

is it

is it so wrong to want respect from your

own family

you need to get that for yourself first

[Music]

brian

asked me to give this to you

in case you didn't come back

[Music]

maybe you ought to read it now

you're a strange man tarzan

a bit grim even when you do smile but

you've been kind

and a loyal friend to brian

i'm grateful

[Music]

are you crazy yeah about you

oh

taken with the wild man are we i think

the sun is out of your brain no no no

i've seen the way you look at him

maybe i should just kill him right now

oh that'd be really smart then we'll

never find a shark or the father of

diamonds

as long as your goal and mine are still

one

what's that

is this how you're going to get your

starter shine

we'll be able to buy many stars with

what that diamond will bring

now get in the canoe i'm not going any

further please he'll kill you

i made a promise to your brother

even if it means

her life

task

i don't get that diamond then neither

will you

now

what is your promise worth

[Music]

don't even think about it well man

i can shoot quicker than you can swim

we should go back to shore what is it

keep pedaling

[Music]

[Music]

woman's footprints

[Music]

someone's tracking tarzan

oh ghani i must find tarzan

again

why don't you understand

[Music]

oh oh now i see showing off your friends

huh

well well

i don't have time for this

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

uh

what are you doing here

i'm looking for a friend your friend

must have been up to no good if he

passed this way

he's a student

of people

no one comes to ashar unless he's

looking for something to serve his own

needs

you have nothing to fear from me

fear you

no

i fear the poison you bring

the friend he speaks of is my brother

his name is brian a tall man

please have you seen him helen

tarzan

brian

the only crime this man has committed

seeking knowledge he came for the same

reason that others did before him

to steal the father of diamonds

no

that's not true

so the diamond does exist task this man

is an idiot

please

release us release my brother and let us

go you act as though you are truly

sincere

but i don't believe you do the cages

with them

does life mean so little to you that you

are willing to end it here

better than to be caged you already put

bars around your heart by your greed

starve them slowly

so that every pang of hunger and every

cry of thirst will remind them of what's

important in life

[Music]

i don't care very much for their

lodgings

all the clientele

at least i could pay them every now and

again task

no need to defend me he is already

punished oh my god

you don't have to hide from us old man i

don't hide from you

i just don't wish to look at him

let him go

you must rest the beast within

uh

[Music]

i thought i'd never see you again

i'm here now aren't i

yes

but how

i told you nothing of my journey

hello

for the same reason you're here

for the diamond what

i was angry brian

i just wanted a little piece of this

world that you wouldn't share with me

but

this man's a murderer

i didn't know

i'm sorry

brian

[Music]

so

raw yes

that's all you get to eat in here and

just enough to keep us from dying too

fast

but enough to keep you alive

that diamond

so close

but i can't even touch it

they may as well burn my eyes out rather

than torch me like this you may still

get your wish

oh

is that why they guard your eye out

i'd be my humble man that you too were

after the diamond the diamond is there

for everyone it is the meaning to life

maybe for you

for me it is the key to the world

you are blind to its real power just

like the asharians

their helmets extract oxygen from the

water

well that is an observation that will

surely have a bearing on our lives

they built temples underwater

what are you driving at

how can a race once so advanced live so

poorly

built magnificent cities our scientific

minds were equal to none but we've

diminished under our own complacency

we should have ruled the world instead

living caves

because

the real guardian of our souls lies with

another power

the diamond

people have lusted after the father of

diamonds long before your arrival but

they wanted the jewel

without accepting the spiritual law it

is meant to convey

like the law of the jungle

we once lived as you pure in spirit

but

we crumbled under the evils of greed and

ambition we live underground to purify

our thoughts

here we'll remain until we rediscover

that

which connects us all

as one

they must have gone across the lake

now what

i can't think of you making so much

noise

[Music]

all right

all right

i'm coming

[Music]

[Music]

where are they going

once each day the bell strikes three

times

to signal our call for meditation

everyone is ordered to stay in their own

quarters

uses the time to sleep off his

drunkenness

brian

get to the water chamber right

where are you going what are you doing

it doesn't belong to you done

[Applause]

[Music]

that diamond is mine i'm not living

without it

come on

come on save your friends my life is

already destined to go go

[Music]

[Music]

oh

we shouldn't stay long

they're sure to come after us no they

won't

groomer has all he wants

hercup

he knows that if he keeps the asharians

from the light

the more they'll come to accept the

darkness

so then we're safe

but not hercule he's not our problem

you are the one who was against our

coming in the first place that was

before i met him

what's changed

i have

[Music]

i was kind

merciful

this is how you repay me

you suffer by your own delusions

maybe i should take out your other eye

i'd still see better than you

you must use the power of the diamond

treachery will not be tolerated in asher

you will be an example to all asharians

who are tempted to follow your way

how long do you think you can keep the

light from our people's eyes

forever after you're gone

don't touch that

but your eminence

if it wasn't for me you'd still be

asleep and haircut would have got away

that is why you do not die today

but your eminence

you and me we're the same

why would you want to kill one of your

most loyal followers

take him away

[Music]

where are you going

we must find tarzan

[Music]

um

you can still be a god hercop

to the fish

[Music]

ah

[Music]

my lovelies it's a day for celebration

your mind at last

[Music]

[Music]

ugh

[Applause]

[Music]

[Music]

it's over

her golf will show you mercy

even that won't soothe my soul

uh

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

shhh

ah

[Music]

brian

brian

i read you later

i didn't realize that you felt so fondly

about me then either i didn't talk loud

enough or you didn't listen

please i don't want you to go back

knowing you hate me

you're my sister i love you

you ask my forgiveness

i ask yours

i'm also to blame for what happened

between us

our people have

much to be grateful for because of you

tarzan

they have the freedom to discover the

truth so there really isn't a father of

diamonds

of course there

is

you're looking at it

the time has come

[Music]

i don't understand

what about the casket

filled with our hopes for a good life

that is the true value i bring

brewer tried for it through manipulation

yes but you my friend live it

but that should be lived

share it with others

and the diamond will always shine over

you

[Music]

[Music]

you
