The night that Zach was killed, I was blackout drunk.

This is what you do. We need you. We need you the most. This is your fault.

Paris' wife.

You're wrong. She admitted they had a fight after the party.

Still haven't told me your name.

You went on a date with the man that's been trying to ruin my life? He said he

thought that you're selfish.

You're not gonna last out here, girl.

That's an awesome promise. I don't scare that easily.

What happened to your face, JP?

Oh, no, we're done talking. This isn't over.

You hear me?

It's not over!

This is, uh, this is me doing me.

Don't say the Dawson ways ain't reliable.

If I, uh, don't make it out of this, you know that I kept my word.

Most park rangers are seasonal workers.

Only a few of us stay the winter, pick up litter, clear paths.

We do small things and hope they add up.

Others roll the dice, take their chance, make their move.

And we hope that when we need it...

Our friends are there for us, too.

I'm not touching him, though.

That's fine.

Thank you so much. You guys, thank you. I really

appreciate it. I know you guys are all packing up to go.

You sure you want to stay here for the winter? It's end of season. All the

seasonal rangers will be done for the year.

You'll be alone.

Oh, gosh, spend it somewhere.

I'm good alone.

I gotta get him inside.

Well, scary.

I wouldn't want to be here alone.

It's like a horror movie.

The Shining.

Final Destination. That's the one I'm thinking of. How is this like Final

Destination? Like everyone dies.

In the movie?

In life.

Just stay in the back, Sarita.

I'm not far if you need.

I'm just gonna be with my folks.

I'll be fine. We will be fine.

Well, I still got a lot of packing to do, so I'm gonna go. I'll see you later.

See ya. Thanks, guys. Take care of your mom.

See you guys. Thank you.

Ready?

been in hiking boots too long.

Do you remember when mom bought those earth shoes?

Yeah, those were disgusting.

It's like strapping a lasagna needle to your feet.

But hey, if you can survive showing up for sixth grade in a pair of ugly shoes

that your crazy mom thrifted at a garage sale, you can survive anything.

True.

What do you think? Hold on.

Blazer?

Or no blazer?

Blazer. And wear makeup.

Studies show that it makes people view you as more trustworthy.

Really? It hides your face. It shows you care.

On the upside, my nightmares are gone.

Or they're just lurking.

It's gonna be okay, right?

Go get him, Tiger.

I'm gonna call you later.

Hey, Jeff, what's up?

Hey. Thanks for coming.

How's Buddy doing?

He's with the vet.

He's pretty sick.

Is it the water?

Jeremiah Paulson did this.

Poisoned the river and then bought all the land along the watershed so nobody

would complain.

He didn't try to buy your land?

He offered me cash for it.

When I said I wouldn't sell, he said he'd get it for free.

By contaminating it so it's worthless.

Jesse found sulfuric acid in the river.

Where's it coming from?

Should have known it was a threat.

I'm gonna sell my land.

What? No, Jeff, you have to fight him. He's already won, Anna.

It's not over till you fly into the sun and blow up. You hear me?

I'll think about it.

I take the day off and be with Buddy.

Yeah.

Yeah, for sure. Hey, can you do me a favor and send me a picture of Buddy?

Yeah.

Okay. We'll see you, Ranger Pigeon. I'm the county attorney.

My pleasure. Truly.

You investigated Kay's death.

Is that right? She died in the park, so yes, I did.

I wrote out an account of everything that happened while I was in the cave,

as well as everything that happened with Bethany Lopez afterwards.

You know she's going by Paulson now?

Bethany is?

Separate trial.

Let's stick to this one.

I just, um... JP deserves to go to prison for what he

did to Kay.

Do you actually think that will happen?

You'd be surprised.

Sometimes the truth is enough.

This is real cute, Pigeon.

You're not untouchable, Jeremiah.

I want the world to know what you are and the evil shit you do.

Okay, but I have an offer for you.

I'm sorry, what? An offer.

As you know, the county attorneys are just interviewing witnesses right now.

Hell, they don't even have a trial date.

So if you will back away, recant your testimony.

You don't know anything about my husband.

I might.

I call bullshit.

Anna, do you know how many people I know in this world?

Including a clerk at NYPD who says they have a suspect.

I'd love to tell you more.

Think about it.

Mr. Paulson.

Thank you.

Yeah. We're ready for you.

Hey, Jeremiah, you know what I am thinking about? This.

You can shove that offer right up your ass.

Glad we spoke.

Oh, me too.

This time of year, the major station mostly clears out. You find out if she's

sticking around.

Medium roast, it's you and me. You're just going to go stay all over the

winter.

Creamers, come to the party.

Stir sticks, you stay.

And a pigeon.

Ranger Pigeon, this is Surgeon Rescue Coordination. You're on our call-out

list for emergencies in your park.

Okay, what is it?

We have an emergency activation from a spot device.

Latitude, longitude?

It's on Fallon Peak.

Freaky Peak?

Uh-huh. Damn.

That's a tough climb. What are they doing up there?

There's only one way up and down.

That's right.

Okay, I can go in as hasty team.

I'll call when I'm back in reach.

Just it for you, Ace.

I'll be back.

I'm Amanda Pigeon. I'm responding to your SOS.

I'm, uh, I'm Dawson.

I, uh, glad you're here.

Definitely have an SOS.

I think I broke my leg.

Okay.

Okay.

Can you help me?

I need to see.

Can you, can you pull it back?

That's good. Good job.

Oh, that's gnarly.

There's no cell service up here, and you're lucky you had a tracker on.

Yeah.

Yeah, you ain't telling me.

You know, I, uh... started to get a little worried that no one was gonna

come, you know?

It's a real bad feeling, let me tell you.

That really is.

How'd you hurt yourself?

I fell.

Tripped on some tree root.

It came for me like I was its enemy or something.

You're gonna be okay.

I'm gonna clean it, and then I'm gonna wrap it up. I'm gonna head out, get

help, and then we'll come back.

Please, please, don't leave me, okay? I can't carry you out myself. Okay, I can

walk. I can, I swear, I can walk. You patch me up, and I can just hop

slowly beside you, okay? Please, I swear.

Look, you can go back, okay? But my... My mental state, okay, it's...

I could just... I could just use a friend right now.

Okay?

Okay.

Let's patch up and go from there.

Okay? Okay.

You still have that great guide?

Harlan? No.

That name hasn't come up in a while.

What happened to him?

He's in jail.

Speaking of which, how's your nephew?

Gonna beat those murder charges?

I have a lot of faith that justice will be done.

So are we gonna lay down some ground rules for tomorrow?

Each man brings one rifle.

As much ammo as we can carry. No helpers. Then each of us is gonna put a

million bucks in a pot.

Whoever bags the quarry takes it all.

Sounds good.

Where are we hunting?

We'll leave it down.

You're doing really well for a guy with a broken, messed up leg.

Tough as nails.

Yeah, well, I came from a long line of tough guys. Look at my, uh, my dad.

He used to hunt.

He'd never come back until he was successful, which...

Well, I guess it's a good thing since she wasn't too successful in life.

Yes. Various ways to measure success.

I've learned over time.

Yeah, well, hauling copper out of an open pit mine ain't the way, okay?

Your dad mined copper around here?

No. He worked out of the pit mine down by Butha.

What gets mined over here?

Sapphires. Why don't we take a rest here?

You have water in your back?

Yeah.

There's exploratory drilling, too.

Yeah?

Uranium's the new big thing now, you know?

They just leach it out with sulfuric acid.

Uranium? Really?

Near the park?

Yeah.

You know, this lady's really, uh... Do you mind how... Here, let me take a look

at it. How do you...

You're clammy. Let me just see.

Look, you seem like a nice lady.

You don't have to do this. I'm doing what I need to do, okay?

Now give me your phone and throw me those backpacks. Both of them.

Do it.

Hurry up.

Put this on your ankle.

Why would I do that? Shut up! Just do what I tell you to do.

Come here.

Tie up your wrists and your ankles.

Use your teeth to tighten them.

Whoever's paying you, it's not enough. Shut up!

Shut up!

Make sure they're tight.

You don't seem like a bad guy, Dawson. You don't have to do this.

No, I'm a... I'm a pretty bad person, I'm afraid.

Don't follow me.

Don't.

Dawson!

So, they're interviewing you for the Paulson trial.

They're interviewing you, too? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm scheduled for next week.

Hmm.

What are you doing here now?

There's a warrant under your head, Jesse Fields.

We need to talk.

Hey, I came clean.

I talked to the lawyers about the charges. I'm facing them all down. I'm

innocent. Yeah, sit down.

Come on. Hey.

See, your little Sankateri co-op did a lot of damage to work sites across state

lines.

So now... The feds are investigating.

Is this about Anna?

Do you think I'm arresting you because of Anna? I think you might.

Yeah.

Mr. Fields?

I still need to talk to him.

Oh, no, no. It's okay. It's perfectly fine.

We're a package deal now.

What? Are you serious?

That's a heart attack.

Come on. I didn't do it.

I'm fully innocent, man.

Please.

No, after you.

longer. Stop shooting at me, you asshole.

If you come down here, I gotta shoot you.

Why are you doing this? You don't even know me.

Gotta go up. At least give me my pack.

I won't come after you. The sun is setting.

I'll freeze out here. I need my stuff.

Go back up and you'll find something to help you.

What does that mean?

At least tell me what's with the ankle monitor.

Who's tracking me?

You come down here and I'm gonna kill you.

And then they're gonna kill my kids, now I can't risk that!

Who? Go back where you found me!

Hello?

Hey, I've been thinking about you.

Who's this?

It's your friend Jerry D from Montana.

How about a case of that wine? thinking about you, hoping you might come back.

Jerry, I'm Anna Pigeon's sister.

No shit.

I guess I got a pigeon problem.

This is Anna Pigeon. Leave a message.

It's me.

Jeremiah, that guy called me.

I have a bad feeling.

Just call me back.

I love you.

And get my knife, idiot.

Oh, I see.

You're gonna keep me alive until morning.

It's wrong.

Sure we haven't lost a target?

Target's right where we want her. Deep in the park.

Ah! Let's go!

Pick it up.

Let's go!

We're clear!

Gary D, what's the word?

Who the hell are we hunting?

Pigeon. We're hunting pigeon.

So, we've waited for Anna all night. Maybe she's here.

Molly can't reach her.

Why are you cuffing me again?

We're on the same side.

It's satisfying to me.

Oh, my God.

Wow. I am the most stable fugitive you've ever met.

I have a job that I can't lose unless you get me fired because you made me

miss my shift last night.

You know, we're both worried about Anna. I've been tear-getting you past at the

time. And if you didn't kill that guy, why run?

I told... Ow! I told you.

Okay? I... I freaked out.

And I didn't think it through.

Okay, we wait for Zoe to unlock the station. Let's go. Come on.

Ow! What's your...

What's your problem with me? I don't have a problem with you. I was assigned

to pick you up and ask you questions.

My cuffs are a little extra, though.

Thank you.

You are so jealous.

All I want is for Anna to roam and do what she wants and needs to do, and then

when she likes, she comes back to me.

That's what I want.

What with me?

Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa.

That's Anna's horse.

Hey.

Cut. Come here.

Hi.

This has been cut.

Where's

Thanks for the gun, asshole Where

is the

SOS coming from?

Ballant Peak.

And you haven't heard anything else from Anna since she said she was going? No. I

assume she solved the problem.

Anna responded to an SOS?

Yeah, from a spot device.

What's that?

It's a GPS tracker that just gives you a location, nothing else. Like a beacon.

But Anna's been out there for 24 hours by herself.

Okay, so no SOS.

Am I the only one thinking Anna's missing again?

I was thinking it.

Yeah, me too. We need to find her.

Paulson. The time that everything occurred, though, I was Bethany Lopez.

That was my married name.

Miss Paulson, we're not here to get into the charges against you, but against

your cousin, JP.

He's guilty.

That was quick.

He told me how he killed Kay and pushed her body into the cave.

And then he and Jeremiah said they'd kill me, too, if I didn't help cover it

up. That contradicts Ranger Pigeon's testimony.

She said you acted alone.

I have nothing but respect for Anna Pigeon. I would never have hurt her.

I went to work for Jeremiah hoping that he would... hoping that he would

acknowledge me as his daughter.

I was tricked into believing that if I did what Jerry and JP said that they

would love me.

Tricked or coerced?

I don't know the exact definition of...

Coerced. I just... I know that they said they'd kill me.

Who said it?

Jeremiah or JP?

Jeremiah.

And I believed him.

You have no idea how scary Jeremiah D. Paulson is.

Hey, asshole.

Unless I'm crazy, there's only one person who hates me this much.

Hi, Jeremiah.

Girl, you never disappoint.

I like this getting sporty now.

I know you got an alert when I cut off my ankle monitor.

I did. I was very impressed.

You knew where I was.

Left me a bivy sack.

It's pretty sick, Jeremiah.

Speaking me from freezing to death just so you could hunt me.

But, you know.

I'm evening the odds.

I'm not going to make it that easy on you.

God, I'm excited.

You're not by any chance following a friend of mine up a hill, are you?

Because once Kerry stopped answering his radio, I knew you wouldn't sit back.

He's ours now.

Keep your eyes peeled.

He's out here somewhere.

She was here.

Horse tracks.

Could be her or her horse coming back.

Those look like ATV tracks.

We split up, cover our bases?

Tactically, that's a bad idea.

Not much daylight left.

You're right.

We're at our options. Let's split up.

Oh yeah.

Don't even think about it.

Throw me your gun.

Do it.

Now.

You're gonna get yours.

And your pack.

second gun not very sportsmanlike help me which way was jeremiah headed

I'm right here.

We don't have to do this, Jeremiah.

You toss that rifle.

And the other one.

Keep running it through my mind what it is that made you so mad.

So mad that you feel you need to kill me.

You messed with my lifelong plans.

Right.

Your plans for JP, your plans for the park.

So much more than that.

You're mining near the park, you're contaminating it.

Uranium, right?

Dawson mentioned it.

You looked so guilty afterwards.

This little exploratory drilling, if there's runoff, so be it. Break the park

so no one can use it, like Jeff's land.

Poison it so no one wants it, except for you.

You know, money won't love you back, Jerry.

It's not just money.

Then what?

Legacy.

You know, all the great stands, the redwood trees, they'll be gone in about

50 years.

Or they won't, Jeremiah, because people will protect them.

Destruction isn't inevitable. Destruction is a choice that you are

making. You don't get it, girl.

I'm the redwood. Me.

I'm the thing that'll be gone. They're not gonna make him like me again.

I made a promise to myself and to the world that I will get and build as much

as I can.

You don't have to do this.

You don't have to kill me. You don't have to do any of this shit.

You can't let J.P. go to jail.

You don't give a shit about J.P. It's going to take him. He's still a Paulson.

And part of the Paulson legacy cannot be my nephew rotting in prison.

I'm not going to die in oblivion.

They'll look for me. They'll investigate.

You're gonna fall in the woods without a sound, Anna.

Don't think a hunter did it or a poacher.

No one's gonna build you a monument. No one's gonna remember you and no one's

gonna care.

The least you can do is tell me what you know about my husband's murder before

you pull the trigger.

The little birdie told me that you killed Zach.

Me?

Yeah, you.

I have an alibi. I was with my sister at the bar.

You sure you remember that right?

Because the stories we tell ourselves aren't always the ones that are true.

I'm messing with me.

You.

I didn't do this

Nothing

like you

Adam.

They say cats have a special reflex.

They can orient themselves in the air and land on their feet after any fall.

They cheat death.

Lose a life.

Cheat death again.

Fall off a cliff.

All in love.

But I think we have one life with nine chances.

To grow.

To

be

surprised.

to reset.
