Original subtitles

You're so very welcome to the show, one and all.

Do you like my outfit?

You like it, yes?

I made a very swift visit to the tailor earlier today.

He seemed very excited about my suit.

Now, look, there is a lot of excitement in the studio tonight. We have a world

-class line-up for you, singing for us later. Look over there, it's the

brilliant Lewis Capaldi!

Welcome back to News. He'll be performing his new single, Something in

the Heavens. But, heavens above, who's on my sofa tonight? Well, first off,

this Irish actor stole our hearts in About Time, endured the wilderness in

The Revenant, and defied the resistance in the Star Wars franchise. Now he

brings us a new sitcom, The Paper. It's Donald Gleeson, everybody!

Two ass-kicking stars from the new sci-fi film Tron Ares won the style icon

who rocks every red carpet and made her big screen debut in the indie hit Queen

and Slim.

The other is the scene-stealing star of Russian Doll, The Morning Show and the

heartbreaking Past Lives.

It's Jodie Turner-Smith and Greta Leigh!

This actor first made his mark in the post-apocalyptic 28 days later before

going on to star in the hit TV series Peaky Blinders and winning an Oscar for

his performance in Oppenheimer Now he stars in the intense classroom drama

Steve. It's a first time. Welcome to the great Killian Murphy

And there's someone else.

This singer-songwriter broke every record in the book with her sold-out

era's tour, and now she's back with her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl. It's

the biggest pop star on the planet. Please welcome Taylor Swift!

It's very nice to see you all.

And there's a lot to congratulate Taylor Swift about, but the one that I feel I

ought to congratulate is the new bit of finger jewellery. The hardware upgrade?

Yes. Check it out.

Oh, my God.

Oh, my God.

Yes.

Yes. Wow.

It's like, watch it like it's a TV.

Yeah. I thought Greta was going to get out one of those things.

It's my favourite show other than the paper. Here's a very quick reminder of

the engagement announcement that broke the internet.

What is it, 35 million likes or something that photograph got? Oh, my

God. And is that the actual proposal?

It is, actually. So, he really crushed it when it came to surprising me,

because we had actually filmed a podcast episode. He has a podcast called New

Heights. Yeah. And we... Oh, yeah!

Americans we've got yes fantastic.

So we we filmed the podcast for about three or four hours or whatever and

Meanwhile behind his house. He was having the whole back garden turned into

this Wow and one of the things that he put in there very strategically was a

wall of hedges that weren't there before and Inside the hedges was my tour

photographer hiding in bushes that had not previously been there It was he went

all out 10 out of 10. Oh, people are now going, oh, Jesus, I was going to propose

this weekend.

What's the point?

That is amazing. Yeah, it's really fun that we actually have the exact moment.

Yeah. Well, congratulations to you. And, Cillian Murphy, congratulations to you.

You went and won an Oscar last time out. Oh, yeah.

Last year.

Thanks to that.

This is a great pour.

Was it after that Oscar win that you then met Taylor Swift?

Yeah, we were at a party

I had the whole gang and my family and my kids. I don't think my kids were

legally allowed to be there, really. I mean, I don't know, but they were

delightful. Your sons are the future of our world.

Oh, that's... They were such great conversationalists. They were

interesting and interested.

Like, that's the real accomplishment, is if you can... They're here, aren't they?

Yeah, one of them is here, yeah.

Yeah, Aaron, yeah.

There was one clown.

Put the camera on him.

Where is he?

Maybe he's not here.

They're hiding.

Oh, my God, he is so Gillian Murphy-style.

If this was a game show, we've all just won a prize.

That was easy.

And, Joni, Joni Smith, you're unusual, I think, in that you know that you've met

Taylor Swift.

I don't know why everyone's saying that. I don't remember where I met her.

Because we were drunk. Oh, okay.

It was at the gold party, and I remember that... No, no, no.

It was at Madonna's party. Was it at Madonna's party? It was at Madonna's

party. I think it was at Beyonce's party. I was at Beyonce's party, but I

didn't meet you there. I mean, we got to link up. We got to get the group chat

going. This is how I know it was at Madonna's party.

I've not been invited to any of these parties.

But I remember that the gossip was...

Incredible, but I don't remember what it was.

We were having a great night.

It was fantastic.

And Donal.

Hi, Graham.

No, no, no.

Thank you for having me.

I'll bet, I'll bet good money, I'll bet good money you know Cillian Murphy.

Not really, no, no, no.

Yes, yeah, yeah, one of my...

I mean, like, maybe my third or fourth filmed job was in a film that Cillian

was the lead in, and he was... And I met you when I was, like, 19, doing my first

job, and he's always been amazing.

Yeah, an amazing actor, an amazing person. Yeah, I met Donald when he was

doing a Martin McDonagh play in the West End, in Broadway, and he was, like,

magnetic back then.

Back then?

You should have seen him then.

Listen, we've got lots to talk about tonight, but let's start with the big

one. Taylor Swift's new album, her 12th, is The Life Of A Showgirl.

This is exciting.

Here it is.

This is the actual album.

And you've gone all out.

Yeah, there's all kinds of stuff in there. And this is cool.

The album is the same colour as the glittery... Thank you for noticing.

Are they all like that, or is this a collector's...? They're all like that. I

love creating vinyls that are completely unique inside and just doing different

things. There's also a poem on the inside.

Saw it, saw it. Vinyl flap, and there's different poems on each variant.

And if... No, I'm not going to tell about that, but they'll figure that out.

There's something about the poems that's fun.

Oh. OK.

Yeah. Please hold. Yeah.

No, because I just got there, so I haven't read the poem.

Now, it's out today, and it's kind of... I mean, you were writing these songs

while the Eras tour.

was going on. Yes, I was riding it during the European leg, which was last

summer. And it was actually like the craziest schedule that we had on the

European tour.

So I was more physically exhausted than usual because it was a three and a half

hour show.

It's all in heels.

It was...

I was starting to sort of get sick and kind of worn down. And so I thought I

really need something to sort of spark up my imagination and creativity. And

hopefully that will fuel my physical exhaustion. And it did, because I would

do like three shows and then I would fly to Sweden and make three songs and then

do three shows. And it was having that little like secret passion project

behind the scenes that really helped me not ever hit a wall on that tour.

Wow.

Listen, we've got a little taste of the first single on the album, The Fate Of

Ophelia. Here it is.

That was so good!

They couldn't have liked it more. And you know what strikes me?

I remember you were on this show before and you were talking about how you write

songs that are, you know, kind of in your wheelhouse. They're easy for you to

sing. Mm-hm. That song sounds like...

more of a stretch. Am I right or wrong? Yeah, I think it's a little bit harder

to sing, but I think the wheelhouse is a little bit of a bigger wheelhouse now

that the Eros tour happened.

Like, I'm a little bit, like, I think I could, you know, sort of do anything

while running in heels. I'm just sort of, like, it's given me the confidence

to write, like, higher choruses and jump the octave and do falsetto stuff and,

like, don't take a break for 35 seconds. It's like, I'm like...

I don't know. I'm pretty sure I could do it now that I've done that tour.

Let's talk about some of the other tracks on the album.

Opalite is such an earworm.

Thank you. It really is. Thank you. My dad is excited somewhere. That's his

favourite. Oh, great.

It obviously appeals to the dad demographic.

It's also, it's also... Yeah, this is great!

No, it's my fiancé's favourite too, so it's great. Oh, OK.

Yeah, but... But opalite, I think there's a beautiful idea behind the idea

of opalite. Yeah, it's basically, I become obsessed with certain phrases or

words, and one of the words on my long list was opalite, because I learned that

just like they can do man-made diamonds, you can do man-made opals, and it's

called opalite. And I just thought that that was such an interesting metaphor.

If you take it and you apply it to the fact that oftentimes in life we have to

make our own happiness It's not just there.

It's not just naturally in place We have to make our own happiness and get

through life and it says like you had to make your own sunshine But now the sky

is opalite and it's just basically like you you are happy because you did that

on your own It's kind of like fake yourself happy kind of thing. Exactly

fake it till you make it. I do that all the time. Yeah I believe you've done it

really successfully

Write the book.

And I mentioned the ears to her. I'm sure lots of people here were at that

concert.

It was phenomenal.

It was so, so good. The thing that was... And this is not a complaint. Wow.

Yeah, I think that was Wembley. That looks like Wembley.

Three and a half hours. When did you know?

Was it, like, opening night when you realised, oh, this is three and a half

hours?

We tried so hard to get it to be shorter than that, but I wanted

to over-deliver.

I really wanted people to get more than they expected.

It just really felt like something that I had to do, because I'm like, I know

these tickets are gonna be hard to get. I didn't know how hard they would be to

get.

And people are gonna like...

I don't know, people have lives and priorities, and if they're going to

dedicate any part of those lives to coming to this big show, to packing

stadiums like this, I want to over-deliver on production, over-deliver

on the length of it, the exertion, the kind of surprises they're seeing. And

I'm really, I'm endlessly proud of feeling like we achieved that.

Oh, you so did. You really, really did.

And I'm sure people were there.

I thought...

It was so lovely being in the stadium the atmosphere you knew that in that

stadium have only been like 90,000 people Nothing bad was happening. No one

was having a fight. There was no argy-bargy kicking off. Everyone was

having the loveliest time. It was the loveliest time.

Yeah. And I would hear all these stories about people making friends, and the

whole friendship bracelet thing was pretty beautiful, too, where people

would make friendship bracelets and they would trade them with each other and

they'd meet each other. They are the friendship bracelets. And it was kind of

the sweet thing that the fans did on their own. We didn't, like, market this.

This wasn't, like, a thing that we did, or else I would have invested in beads.

So, uh... Taylor, we'll talk some more as we go on, but for the moment, just a

reminder that the album The Life Of A Showgirl is out now.

Right. Yes.

We're getting there. We're getting there.

Cillian Murphy. Cillian Murphy brings us an extraordinary new film. It is called

Steve. It is in select cinemas and available globally on Netflix now.

And to give us a taste, here's a bit of the trailer.

So they're asking everyone to describe themselves in three words.

Okay. Very, very tired.

Focused.

Cheeky.

Sexy little bastard.

Angry and bored.

These are extraordinarily complex young people.

Please tell me you know it's not alright to be out here at like breakfast time

getting fully baked.

Steve, you dick.

This is the thing, you can't just casually call me a dick.

So how you doing?

I've been worried about you.

All I want for you is to just speak to us.

Because you're not alone, Shai.

I don't know about you, Steve.

Let's talk about you.

Steve, you can't do it all at once. Okay, all right, I'm here for you.

Perhaps there's a limit.

You don't know me!

Why do you fucking give a shit?

It really is an extraordinary film and brilliant, brilliant performances in it.

And people might know Max Porter, he's written many books, and this is based on

his book, Shy.

Yes. Which apparently you read and thought, that isn't filmable.

Yeah, Maximir Pals, and he gave me the proof of the book. I was very lucky to

read it before it came out.

It's like this beautiful, compassionate piece of work, but it's all inside of

Shai's head. It's like a stream of consciousness, you know, inside of his

character's head. And I thought, like, well, some books shouldn't be adapted.

And then we were, like, we'd made two pieces of work together and then we

thought, we were trying to figure out what next, to do next, and then...

He had this brilliant idea to kind of spin the story on its axis and to kind

of adapt the world of the book rather than the book itself. So there was this

minor character in it, who was Steve, and he kind of began to show the... It

all happens over 24 hours.

He began to show, like, you know, what happens over that day through Steve's

eyes and then overlay it with Shai's experience. And who is Steve?

So Steve, I guess, is a very overworked, underpaid...

quite broken, trying to do the right thing, headmaster of a kind of reform

school in the 90s in Britain.

And it's interesting you decided to keep it in the 90s. Yeah. Why did you decide

to not bring it to now?

I mean, well, there's a few reasons.

The music was so good then.

And, like, Max is obsessed with drum and bass, and he wrote the book, Listen To

Drum And Bass, and I was 20 in 96.

My kids, you know, Aaron, he's like 18 now.

And also, we could tell a story where we didn't have to deal with smartphones and

the internet and all that.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

And you talk about the music in this film, the kind of 19th drum and bass.

Was that... Because you took music very seriously. Was that your music?

I love drum and bass. I always found it really difficult to dance to.

Do you know? There's a lot going on. It's very... Thrashing.

Yeah. It's all that polyrhythms in it. I was never that guy, no.

But I did listen to it and... Yeah.

But when I say you took your music seriously, you were in a band, and not

just... And often people were in bands.

You got a five-album deal.

What? Well, yeah, technically we did, yeah.

What does that mean?

I mean, yeah, we were kids and we got offered this record deal.

I don't know why I'm telling you.

So enjoy your chart success.

It could have been me.

Five albums is too long a term.

It's too long a term. They'll just sign us up young for five albums. That's it.

That was part of it. Because my brother's in the band and he was only 18

and my parents went, no.

Oh, was that... Because normally you would pick... The first bit of success

you find, you cling on to it, but you turned it down.

Well, they wouldn't let him ruin his life, so they allowed me to go and

potentially ruin... But then we all just disbanded and it didn't happen.

And this was Mr Green Jeans? Sons of Mr Green Jeans. Sons of Mr Green Jeans.

We've got a picture of you here. Now, is that the bus station in Cork?

That's the bus station in Cork City, yeah. Oh, yeah, I thought it was. I

don't know... That's fantastic.

Isn't it good?

I mean, I don't know, is that building still there anymore? It is, yeah. Poor

people might not... It is? It is, yeah, yeah. Is that lovely old...? That I

don't know. I haven't been inside for some time, Killian. Don't get the bus

anymore.

Who do you think I am?

And actually, talking of you, Greta, you were in a band.

Oh, really?

Uh-huh.

What? No, you were. You took music really seriously.

I did?

Yeah. So, Killian and Taylor, I am also a musician.

Well, no, we've got an adorable... I want to know more.

This isn't quite a radio tour, but it's kind of there. You're very young and

you're doing a gig.

Is this a shopping mall you're in? Yeah.

Now, here you are. How old are you here?

Oh, my God. Yes!

I think I was 11.

Wow. And I'm singing... You can see the Vocal Power Institute.

Yes. I'm in front of Mervyn's in a mall.

That's incredible.

Is it Christmas time?

I hope so, for that matter.

But it just doesn't look like there's any Christmas decorations or anything.

Yeah, no. You look like you're dressed in the French Resistance.

Yeah, I know. Great outfits are... They've been happening for a very long

time, I see. I think I was doing a cover of New York, New York, which is... It

all makes sense. It's amazing. We were in LA, it's Christmas for only one

person, and there I am.

And again, what happened to that dream?

What do you mean? Well... No, that's just what I'm doing.

Aspiring... I'm here to announce my... ..my album.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Taylor didn't know that there's some competition. Yeah.

It's the past life of a showgirl.

Exactly. A Christmas album that nobody wanted.

A spectacular event.

Well, look at you now. Our next movie tonight is Greta Lee and Jodie Turner

-Smith together in the new Disney blockbuster Tron Ares.

It's in cinemas from the 10th of October. That is next Friday.

So, a lot of people love Tron. Yes. The previous two Tron films.

Thank God. So, what's happening in the Tron world now?

Take it away, somebody. OK, well, normally, this is about, like, humans

are always going in... into the grid, right?

That iconic first film, 1982.

Some of us weren't born yet.

You know, Jeff Bridges.

Goes into the great he goes into the computer which was so and it was also

the 1982 film was the first time that any film had Computer-generated images

which at the time was absolutely they were like this is not filmmaking Yeah,

they were qualified from the Oscars that year because it was considered cheating

to use special effects So it really it really changed the face of our business

as well So it's like incredibly iconic and then the second film wasn't was

scored by Daft Punk Again, just like visually so incredible and now

we are coming out of the grid into the real world. Sweet Jesus.

That's what's happening. Oh, that's amazing.

And by we, I mean me.

Alison, we've got a clip. This is the two of you as Eve and Athena.

And we're sensing here that you don't get along.

Time to get back to the grid.

Leave alone!

You're very persistent, user.

Ooh, what up with that?

Anything can happen.

Anything.

Greta, you kick ass in this film, so you decided you were going to get in shape

for this film.

Actually, I was reminded of something.

Taylor, I had heard that there's something you do to prepare for your

tours.

It's horrible.

Treadmill, while singing. Doing the whole set list while running on the

treadmill. It's one of the worst things I did. Three and a half hours. It

worked, but it's incredibly... It didn't work for me.

I tried that and failed And it's I don't think it's a spoiler But there's a I

have to run a lot in this movie and there's a difference between you know an

athlete I have to play a human person who is running for their life. So when

you read a script You have to pay attention for things like running for

your life running and how many times that appears in the script Yeah, yeah,

because actually that's tiring

And you can do all the things to train and prepare and we certainly did to get

into top physical form to do this movie And we got all the trainers.

I would I had you know, the the guy who trains Brad Pitt all the Chris's and me

Yes. Wow.

And, you know, former ex-Navy SEAL. And then we realized, because you were also

doing your thing, and we looked good. I'm in my 40s. I had abs for the first

time ever. Wow. Thank you.

Shout out to abs. However, we realized...

none of it would be shown.

We were covered head to toe. Deeply upsetting.

Yes. And I even... I mean, all that hard work, can you imagine? I mean, with the

Chris's and... Sometimes it's OK to object to our women, OK? Yes.

It genuinely was so upsetting after our first fittings, our light suit fittings.

I even pitched to the director a fight scene where...

our characters could tear each other's clothes off.

And strategically sort of like rip Athena's stomach.

Just to show the work. Can you show three of the abs? You didn't go for it,

unfortunately. And this was not about sex, this was strictly vanity.

I am working so hard. So hard.

Someone see this eight o'clock.

Yeah, I know. But now you know, so at least there's someone. You got the word

out.

You guys know, right?

Yeah.

But, Donald, you have been through the physical rigours of big fantasy movies

and things, because you were in Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Black Mirror.

Now, Black Mirror, you really suffered for your arc. That was crazy.

Thank you, Taylor.

Thank you, Taylor. It was crazy. I thought about that for months. So good.

So did I. It was shocking.

Yeah. So, basically, this was Channel 4, Black Mirror. This was before it went to

Netflix and got the big bucks.

So this was quite low budget. And I am in it at the beginning, and then my

character dies, and then he comes back as a sort of a replicant of himself.

And the decision was made away from me that he should... He appears for the

first time from the bathroom naked.

and the decision was made by somebody else that he should be also hairless

from the neck from the neck down and i was like sci-fi baby i mean how are we

going to go about this and they i just got back to my trailer at lunchtime

there was a chicken salad and electric razor the

saddest lunch i've ever had yeah and uh and i probably

had an egg pack but i can't remember yeah yeah and uh Now, Cillian, you are

such a big fan of Tron. Tell us what you did.

Oh, yes, I asked to be in the Tron... Which one was it? The one... The second.

Legacy. Legacy,

yeah. Yeah. So I was in that briefly.

I did, like, one day in it.

Yes. Wow. Because I was such a big fan. I know.

Uncle Dillinger here.

Oh, is that who it was? You are the... It was a long time ago.

Well done for knowing, though.

I know, well done for knowing.

That's who you are in the family tree, you know?

And then, Taylor, am I right to think the video for Bad Blood, the bit, is a

bit of that a Tron reference? Yeah, we made a little reference to it.

I did a music video for the song Bad Blood with Joseph Kahn and, yeah,

Jessica Alba. Yeah. She had one of the... We've got a clip. Let's say a

little clip. Let's say a little clip of you doing your Tron. Oh, cool. Oh, yeah.

Yes, giving Athena... Right?

Look how... She's so amazing.

Yeah, that was one of my favorite directors to work with Joseph Kahn and

Taylor We should celebrate because of course, you now own that video

Okay, so basically it's been my big, long, lifelong dream came true recently,

which was that I was able to buy all of my music, all of my music videos.

I didn't realize it was also the artwork, the album covers. It's

everything. It's your entire catalog. And thankfully, they didn't split it up

first. They didn't sell it off, sell the music videos to these people, the album

artwork to these people.

This album to this.

Thankfully, it was all still one acquisition.

But thank you to everyone who came to the Heirs Tour.

That's why I was able to.

Make that happen, but I love I love because you imagine it's man.

I'm sorry. It's crazy to still talk And you know like this is you you've

changed the business by what you've done. Thank you I mean, this is this is

so cool. It's thank you. I feel exactly the same way

Everyone's

problem

I have this policy where I do not respond to rage baiting, people who

wanna try to provoke me in a multitude of ways.

I don't respond to stuff.

But this pissed me off so much that I did say what was going on in my life,

which was that all of the music I had made for my first six albums was sold

out from under me. I had been trying to buy them for a very long time. I didn't

think I should be given them. I know that they're worth money. I wanted to

buy them at a premium, was willing to, was never given the opportunity to.

And so I ended up rerecording and rereleasing

Four of those six albums and I think that that was a huge part of why I was

able to get them back the fans really got behind them and Championed this

entire cause I could not be more grateful. I still can't believe it

happened It's it's the craziest thing ever and thank you for bringing that up

and for caring

Bought it all back from a big corporate entity, and you imagine there'd be an

army of lawyers talking to another army of lawyers, but that is not how it went

down. No, I sent in my mom and my brother.

Were you on the phone? Were you on the phone? No, no.

So, basically, my music was owned by a company called Shamrock Capital.

we had to try to figure out how to convince them to sell a very lucrative

entity to us, even though it was still making them loads of money. And so I was

like, the only people for the job are the people who have known me my entire

life, who know this entire journey I've been on, who have been supporting me,

and who I work with every day. They both work with me.

And they are, like, the smartest people I know.

And also the most compassionate, the kindest, the people who could tell the

story of what we've been through as a family.

So they went in and they got my music back for me. Very good.

By the end of the night, Jodie and me are going to be gossiping on the couch

like, you know what I heard about him?

Girl, I heard that same thing but worse. I think we started there, actually,

before. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I was like, girl.

Listen, we move on to Donald Gleeson's latest work. It's a very funny new

sitcom. It's called The Paper.

All episodes are streaming on...

Cheers, everybody.

Cheers. Cheers.

Thank you very much. Cheers.

Thank you.

All episodes are streaming on Sky and Now.

And now, this show, people have heard about it, they know that it is related

in some way to the American office.

Yes. Discuss.

Discuss, you said? Well, tell us.

At length. Yeah, go on.

Basically, it's the documentary crew from the American office... Yeah.

All these years later, go looking for Dunder Mifflin, which was the paper

company that they all worked in.

They kind of run out of road, but end up in this place in the Midwest, a place

called Toledo, Ohio, and they find a...

an old sort of newspaper that's fallen on hard times, a local newspaper, and

it's really not doing well. And they're sharing half the floor with a toilet

paper company who are doing way better than them. And just as they arrive to

film this newspaper, a new editor-in-chief arrives who really wants

to make them a great paper again, because they're really bad.

And he wants to make them... He wants to make them matter.

Listen, we've got a clip. This is you trying to impress your new bosses.

Marv and some of his team are working on this floor while his offices are being

painted. which means he can see everything that we're doing. We're

enjoying this meeting. Everyone's sort of nodding, nodding a little bit. Okay.

Yes. Right. Yes, I am actively agreeing with you. Now, you act like you came up

with another good idea. Put up your hand. Put up your hand. Yes. I don't

know. Yes, yes, yes. That is a great idea. I'm going to write that down. Does

that look like I'm writing it down? Yeah.

Good, good, good. This is weird. Maybe we should just have a real meeting.

Now, Adelola, you're pointing. You're pointing.

And everyone's nodding, and I am agreeing. And Barry, you stand up. You

stand up. I think everyone's nodding now. We're all nodding at Barry. Yes.

Now, Detrick, you're gonna jump out of your chair with enthusiasm. You're gonna

high-five Oscar. Go.

Yes. And... Oh!

Fantastic! Fantastic! And we're clapping.

We're clapping. And we're thumbs-upping.

We're thumbs-upping, and we're nodding. Feel the energy, and we're smiling.

It's properly, properly funny. And I heard you talking about, as an actor,

how weird it is to...

then be in a kind of mockumentary. That's hard as an actor. Oh, yeah, you

spend your life being told not to look straight down the lens and somebody will

scold you if you do that and they have to scrap the take and then all of a

sudden you're on a job and they're encouraging you to look down the lens

more and kind of have a real relationship with the camera, which is

part of what made the UK office great and made the US office great. And I

think it's part of this. Everyone does it in a different way. It's kind of

really cool.

Is it something you had to learn, if you know what I mean?

Oh, yeah, I was terrible at it. Yeah, yeah. I wasn't doing it enough.

And Chelsea, who was in it, who's fantastic, plays Mare, they told her

after, like, three episodes, you need to stop looking at the camera so much. And

they told me you need to look at the camera a lot more. Yeah. Can I just

say... Donald is magnetic in that show. I love that. I love that show. I want to

say to him, I'm so happy it's coming back and his character is like... It's

so good.

..the loveliest, most romanticising character.

He, like, romanticises his life.

And it's really sweet and beautiful. And also, I don't think that you just sound

American, you seem American.

I know. Your accent is so good. You are American. You have to leave that in the

show.

Your numbers are about to skyrocket. Thank you, Taylor Swift, very, very

much.

Thank you, Cillian. Thank you, Cillian. No, both.

You started it. Thank you. Can I also say, it's just worth watching for

Donald's dancing alone. Oh, my God. Yes, absolutely.

What? Yes.

I'm hoping to get in a Taylor Swift music video.

I'm hoping.

There you go, yeah.

Have you always been able to do the American accent?

Yeah, why is it so good? So good.

Thank you, that's very nice. I'm terrible at accents normally and I've

worked really hard on that, so I'm happy it worked. Yeah.

This is the first time you've ever lived in LA.

You moved to LA for this. Yeah, I was over there for, like, four or five

months. I was over there. Tim Key was also over there. He was a fantastic

actor, a very funny man. So, yeah, there was a few of us away from home on that.

It was amazing, because you're, like, working in an old, like, the old studio,

like Universal Studios, and you go in past the fake New York Street and all

the rest of it, and then every morning you're going to work in this place where

they've built an office. It was beautiful, yeah.

And the good news is you can stay in LA because, am I right, it's been

recommissioned? Yes, it's season two. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Thank you very much.

Thank you very much. Thank you.

Yeah. Very nice. Yeah, yeah, we're really happy with it, yeah.

Well, I think we go back January or February, we go back and we do another

season, yeah.

Listen, also returning is Peaky Blinders, Cillian.

So, there's a movie.

Yeah. So, is the movie done or...? Yeah.

So it's done. Yes. And now, here's the thing. I love the fact that Peaky

Blinders was so successful that that haircut, Tommy's haircut in the early

series, it kind of took off. It became, like, you know, it became a thing.

I mean, it's so disgusting, really.

But it's everywhere.

Yeah, but, you know, the story behind that is it's to prevent lice

infestation.

Wait, what? How?

Because if you have no hair, the lice can't... But there's still all that up

on top.

But maybe they don't know how to travel. You get, like, a 60% better chance of

not getting them, I guess.

Dr Donal, I mean, in my trailer, just doing the thing.

That's amazing.

And when is the movie going to be in the world? Next year.

Next year.

OK. All right.

And because you're here, Taylor, I've got to ask you, is next year the wedding

year? Is that when it's happening?

Oh, you'll know.

So you're going big.

I just mean that I was going to invite you to it.

If you're inviting me, it's very big.

I think I can see Taylor.

Well, I'm sure it'll be a fabulous day. Are you in the middle of planning it all

now? No, I just am doing the album thing now, which is a big thing. Yes.

And then I think the wedding is what happens after that in the scheme of the

planning. But I'm really, you know, I'm so excited about it. I'm just like, I

know it's going to be fun to plan because I think the only stressful

weddings are the ones where you have a small amount and people are on the

bubble.

Yeah, right. Yes, and you have to evaluate or assess your relationship

with them. Yeah to see if they should be there Yeah, I'm not gonna do that

There's no bubble

you'll be there

I'll take it. No, it's like, oh, we have to have hung out eight times. It's like,

you're on the bubble. Yeah.

We've hung out five times. You know what I mean? We don't have to think about it.

It's going to be fun. I shouldn't have said any of that.

Well, listen, seriously, we just wish you all the best. Thank you. Thank you

so much. And have a lovely, lovely day.

Right, it is time for music. This great Scott has had six UK number one singles,

including his latest release, Survive, which became the fastest-selling single

in the UK this year. Here performing his new single, Something In The Heavens, it

is Lewis Capaldi!

CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

More precious than gold Hands as soft as

the sand But harder to hold Tonight

could be the last time Your heart beating mine Forever this close

Life can cut like a knife That's just how it goes

But till the day I die, I will dream of you.

In a million lives, you're the one

I choose.

of gathering clouds are all that I hear

just days of permanent gray since

you disappear but till the day I die

I will dream

I was so happy I fell down.

Good to fucking hear it.

Lewis Capaldi, welcome back to the world. Hello, nice to see you.

It's good to be back.

You know Donald, don't you? We met... I stood behind you.

I stood in front of you. I admired your back.

At a Fontaine's DC gig.

Yeah, that's right. In New York. I kept on asking if you and your friends wanted

to stand in front of us. You're the most conscientious tall man I've ever met in

my life. Thank you very much.

Yeah, that was lovely. Good times. And do you know anyone else on the Coyote?

I've met Taylor before, and I've met you before, Jodie, obviously, as well, on

this very sofa.

Oh, OK.

I should have known that. Don't you remember?

Yeah, and I swore and I apologise to your baby bump. You did.

I've often wondered if your child's first word was, I don't know, cunt.

I wondered if it would be that too.

Thankfully, it was mama.

That was probably the three years of breast milk I gave her.

Leave it.

The song is beautiful. Oh, thank you very much. Cheers. So gorgeous.

Thank you. Stop it. Oh, my God. I've got the single here, Something In The

Heavens, but it's from an upcoming EP.

Yeah, I was told I wasn't allowed to talk about it. Oh. What? By who?

What, Emma?

Fuck it, yeah, it's coming out.

The EP is coming out as part of... Oh, yeah, it's called Survive and it's

coming out later in the year.

Fantastic. Yeah, thank you very much. There's two songs. He's singing like a

canary. Yeah.

Don't tell me about your EP.

Yeah, yeah. Two more songs on it. Oh, I said... Songs.

I mean, I'm excited about it.

Yeah. Well, it was so gorgeous when that triumphant return to Glastonbury, which

was just... It made everyone so happy.

Got the same outfit on.

Yeah.

The identical outfit.

You've very graciously pointed out that we're on the exact same fucking train.

If it looks good, yeah.

If it looks OK, let's wear it again.

And I hope you don't mind me bringing this up, because I think people should

know this. You took... Between Glastonbury's, it was 734 days off.

Yeah. And you did an amazing thing.

Tell the people what you did. We... Yes, we partnered with BetterHelp. They'll be

glad that I'm saying their name on this programme.

And we, yeah, we partnered with BetterHelp and we gave out 730,000 hours

of free therapy to people.

Wow. What is it? Yeah.

Very... It's such an amazing thing to have done.

Yeah.

There's a lot... There's a lot of mentally ill people out there, Graham,

and they need my help.

No, but seriously, that's a serious amount of time to donate.

Yeah, it is. And, listen, I hope people use it. And therapy's been a big thing

for me in getting, like...

you know getting back to this position and getting back to a place where I can

feel comfortable enough to come and do this stuff and Obviously, it's not

accessible and some some people, you know different people's situations So I

want to try and give you know, let's just get back to the people, you know

Talking of people, you've got to see a lot of them, because you've got your

tour coming up. A lot of it's sold out, and the ones that aren't are all new

dates.

I'm glad you said that. You can see it says, sold out, sold out, sold out, new

date, new date.

If you notice, there's space next to Leeds.

And I would like to use this moment, if I can speak from the heart, Cillian.

Can I look into the camera and speak to the people at Leeds? Yeah, one of those

over there, yeah. Which one? There you go. You're in it, you're in it. Leeds,

what the fuck are you playing at?

Honestly, the tickets... The tickets are not selling well at

all.

So if you're in Leeds, just buy it for someone you don't like. I don't know.

Yeah, it's...

It's all going really well, except from that pocket of the country, which seems

to hate my fucking gut.

Well, we don't. We're very happy to have you back. Thank you so much for that

gorgeous performance. Lewis Gabaldi!

That is it for tonight. No time for red chairs, so please thank the rest of my

guests. Donald Gleeson!

Jodie Turner-Smith!

with music from Robbie Williams, pop legend Gloria Estefan, acting greats

Benedict Cumberbatch and Colin Farrell, and Oscar winner Julia Roberts. I'll see

you then. Good night, everybody. Bye-bye.
