The Classic of Mountains and Seas - Legend of the Scarlet Shadow

Episode 3

They wanted me to do something for them.

They want to kill Sir Yu. But they didn't tell me,

that you are the prince of the State of Qing Qiu.

This matter today,

you can't blame Mo'er.

If you want to blame someone, blame those

who wanted to take and exploit the Mysterious Lady's power.

No!

Some of you come over to help. Okay.

Come over!

Here. Lift it up, this one, this one.

Move aside, move aside, move aside.

Thank you, Brother!

Thank you!

What is this place?

What place is this?

I don't know either.

Miss, where is this place?

-This is Dong Ling.-Dong Ling?

Isn't Dong Ling that General Baili Han's place?

Why did we come here?

I don't know either.

It's because of you; you slept so deeply on the horse carriage.

Weren't you the same?

Forget it. Since we've come, let's go in to take a look.

Okay!

They have been brought here.

Got it.

- They didn't find out anything. - Good.

-Mother, I'm hungry!-Father, I'm hungry!

I am hungry, too!

Isn't Dong Ling abundant with food and rich lands? Why are there are so many refugees?

Mister Shou Shu already said that there was drought everywhere this year.

But the common folk should still have stores from last year.

Sirs, please give us some food!

-The child hasn't eaten all day!-Wait a minute!

There are so many refugees. Can you give them all food?

It's good if I can help one!

If you give her food, they'll all come rushing over!

Helping one is good!

Thank you! Thank you!

-Look, they're too pitiful!-Thank you!

There's food! Give me one!

Su Mo, what do we do?

Give it to them first. We'll think of something later.

Here. Yours.

It's empty, it's all gone!

It's really all gone!

It's empty. We'll have to go hungry for the next few days.

It's fine. I still have some herbs here.

In a bit, we'll exchange it for some food.

I should sell them instead and perhaps we will be able to sell them at a good price.

Okay, I'll wait for you here.

I'll give it to you for a cheaper price. Cotton prints!

Take a look! Fresh mushrooms!

Why are you here, Cold Face Ghost? You scared me!

Why are you so dumb?

Why did you say I'm dumb?

Do you think you can arrive in Dong Ling fine just like that?

What do you mean?

Think about it. Idiot!

Can you not call me an idiot? Are you the only smart one?

Are you here to find your friend from your village?

Don't look anymore. Go back.

Why?

Because you won't find your friend.

Big brother, you are so good at martial arts.

How about you help us look, okay?

Why should I do that?

Didn't you say that we were not very close?

Why are you here?

One can't avoid their enemies.

Give up. You won't find your friend.

Based on what? Forget it if you don't want to help.

Don't stop us.

Fu'er, let's go.

What are you doing; getting so angry?

I hate arrogant people the most!

He didn't have bad intentions!

We don't know anything about this place. It's safer if we have someone we know around.

Your attitude is always like this.

I forgot his name again!

It's better not to know. Someone like him,

it's best not to meet him again!

Let's go!

You brat, hurry and leave!

So many people! Let's go look!

Don't interfere in others' matters. Let's just leave after selling the herbs.

How is this interfering with others' matters?

How can we have come to Dong Ling without seeing what's up?

Hurry up! Leave!

Leave!

-Don't be rash!-You are all grown men! Why are you bullying a kid?

Who are you? What does it have to do with you?

Hurry and scram!

As a soldier, aren't you supposed to protect your own citizens?

Don't you feel like you're being too much?

Too much? We don't care about all that.

We only care about following the grand general's order.

The grand general has orders. Whoever steals in Dong Ling must die!

We are just teaching these brats a lesson!

Not killing them is already mercy!

You bastards without brains!

What did you say? Do you want to taste a beating, too?

-No, no, no!-Go ahead! Hit me!

-No, no, no!-Capture them!

What do we do? I told you not to create trouble!

Look at what has happened now!

Will we die here?

Don't talk about such unlucky things!

We won't. We definitely won't!

Your words aren't even convincing!

General, we've already captured the troublemakers!

-Take them away!-Yes!

General Baili! General Baili, it's me!

I'm Fu'er of Peach Blossom Hollow! She's Su Mo!

Miss Fu'er?

Miss Su Mo?

Why are you two...?

This is great! You still remember us!

What is going on?

How can it be like this?

The soldiers' job is to protect the people!

Not to bully the people!

Shuang'er,

capture those soldiers!

Hit them 50 times each!

Yes.

Miss Fu'er, Miss Su Mo, I'm very sorry.

I didn't keep a good eye on them.

We cannot blame you for that.

There are so many people, how can you deal with them all?

You two came to Dong Ling this time for...?

We came to find those girls of Peach Blossom Valley.

You two aren't suspecting they're here?

-We aren't.-We aren't.

We just happened to come here.

Then that is great.

That means I have a lot of fate with you two ladies.

General Baili, do you not have news on those girls?

Not right now.

But I've already added people to go investigate.

Once there is news, we will know.

Fu'er, let's go look somewhere else.

Wait a second!

You two are in such a rush to leave.

The people I sent out will return tonight. They might have news.

Really?

Su Mo, how about we wait a bit longer?

If you two don't mind,

you can wait in my residence.

It is too dangerous for you two to be out alone.

Okay!

Come here!

-I don't think it'll be very good...-Listen to me!

General Baili isn't an outsider! It's fine!

General Baili, this time, actually

we secretly came out!

We just wanted to find those girls earlier and bring them home

or else Father will definitely worry.

You came out secretly?

Then how about this? I'll send the tribe leader a message.

You two can wait here for a day at ease.

Once the sun rises tomorrow,

I will send people to escort you to where you want to go.

Su Mo! I think his suggestion is quite good!

-What do you think?-But I don't like him!

I feel like his smile is kind of strange!

-It'll be fine!-I just don't like him!

Then what do you want to do? You don't even know where to go!

You just said you'd listen to me. You're changing now?

Then fine.

We'll just stay one night and leave at dawn tomorrow.

Okay!

General Baili, we'll have to trouble you.

It's no trouble.

Yao Li!

-General!-Give the tribe leader of Peach Blossom Valley a message.

Tell them that Fu'er and Miss Su Mo are here, so they won't worry.

I will definitely keep them safe and send them back.

Yes, Sir!

What is that?

He is our Dong Ling messenger.

Don't just see that he's small. He can travel a thousand miles a day.

If you two like him,

you can play with him next time.

Really?

That's great! Then what else is there to play with here?

This is the clothing General Baili prepared for you.

There's no need. Our own clothing is quite good.

What is quite good?

Look at how dirty your clothes are!

This clothing is so pretty!

It is quite dirty...

I didn't think that there's so much to play with in Dong Ling.

There's a lot of herbs I've never heard of!

Yeah!

Then after we find Wu Yang, we have to come play next time!

We have to go to Jiu Li to play, too!

General, it is all prepared.

Let's begin.

Su Mo, stop pacing around.

Don't be so anxious, take a seat!

General Baili already said, there will be news at night. Why isn't he here yet?

Maybe the night he is referring to, is later than this?

Stop worrying so much.

No, I have to go and ask.

Su Mo!

Miss, General Baili has invited you over.

Finally. We've been waiting.

Is this the wrong way? I remember his room being that way.

Miss, Miss Liu.

Maybe we're not going to his room.

Just follow her.

Then why isn't she replying to me.

Even I find you nosy, don't talk about others.

It's you who is nosy!

Master Yu?

Seems like you have investigated my identity thoroughly.

I have no evil intentions.

I just want to know if you are a friend or foe.

Now?

You are a Vermilion Bird constellation. Of course, you are a friend.

Just now the ones who followed Baili Han into the temple

were they Su Mo and Fu'er?

Yes.

I already investigated.

Peach Blossom Hollow's ladies were indeed captured by Baili Han.

Just that we don't know their whereabouts.

Master Jing you are indeed naive.

Do you think Baili Han will leave behind live witnesses?

I just want to have some hope.

RIght! Then Master Yu, you are here because...?

For fun.

Baili Han brought Su Mo and Fu'er into the temple.

It's definitely to find out who the Mysterious Lady is.

I don't care who is who.

I just want Baili Han

to be unable to accomplish his goals.

Wait! Baili Han is a cunning man.

We should observe carefully before entering!

A cunning man?

I think you're the cunning one.

Haven't you always wanted to see who the Mysterious Lady of the Azure Dragon is,

and who the Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird is?

Timing & Subtitles brought to you by the Dancing Fingers @ Viki

The Azure Dragon!

Baili Han, what did you bring us here for?

What are you doing?

Fu'er!

Fu'er, let's hurry and leave!

Fu'er, hurry and leave!

Fu'er! Fu'er!

Fu'er!

Fu'er!

Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird?

Fu'er!

Vermilion Bird Star Mansion and Vermilion Bird Ghost Mansion.

Don't even think of running! Set the spell!

Capture them!

Sir Shangguan,

don't think of harming our Mysterious Lady of the Azure Dragon.

This is our Azure Dragon's place.

There is also a spell set.

You two probably can't use much power.

I don't want you all to be harmed.

Especially you.

Fu'er!

-Fu'er!-You're awake?

Brother Shangguan!

Cold Face Ghost...

Why are you two here?

You don't remember what happened at all?

-Fu'er! Where is Fu'er?-Fu'er is okay.

Then where is she?

Baili Han took her away.

Right! It's that Baili Han!

He led us to the temple!

I knew he was a bad person when I saw him!

You knew, yet you went with him?

Didn't I tell you early on?

Are you an idiot?

Right! I'm an idiot!

I don't want fall as low as you!

Brother Shangguan, what do we do?

Let's hurry and go save Fu'er!

She can't be with Baili Han!

-It's too dangerous! Let's go!-Mo'er!

Don't rush, get some rest first.

But Fu'er-!

Fu'er will be okay.

Baili Han definitely won't do anything to her.

Because she is the Mysterious Lady of the Azure Dragon.

Mysterious Lady of the Azure Dragon?

Inside the Dong Ling temple,

her power connected with the Azure Dragon.

What? Fu'er?

Fu'er isn't the Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird, but the Azure Dragon?

The Mysterious Lady that protects Dong Ling?

The Dong Ling temple will protect the Azure Dragon's people.

On the flip side, it will harm others.

I still don't understand.

It's like Chi Yu and I. We are star mansions of the Vermilion Bird.

So inside the Dong Ling temple,

our power will be weakened.

Then...how come I feel so weak?

Because you are the Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird.

-That's impossible?-Why is it impossible?

Looking at what happened in the Dong Ling temple,

you are the Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird.

Me? I'm not!

I'm just guessing.

Whether you are or not, we have to go back to Jiu Li

and clarify things in the Jiu Li temple.

Then...what about Fu'er?

We can't leave her here!

I know that, too.

But looking at things now, none of us can escape.

If we want to save her, we have to get out first.

That's right. Why do you say that you cannot be the Mysterious Lady?

Because I'm not a girl of Peach Blossom Valley.

I was adopted.

A child of the river! Tribe leader, look!

What a cute child!

Tribe Leader, we don't know where this child is from. She might be a calamity star!

Nonsense!

Old Father didn't throw me away.

He adopted me to be his daughter.

Cold Face Ghost, why are you staring at me?

Actually, the Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird

doesn't have to have Peach Blossom Hollow's bloodline.

Overthinking things will be useless now anyway.

No matter what, we have to find a way to escape first.

The Mysterious Lady of the Azure Dragon is awake?

What Mysterious Lady of the Azure Dragon?

That's right. You shouldn't be so stupid

that you still don't understand what's happened?

Where is Su Mo?

That girl? She is the Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird.

She is also our General's enemy. Naturally, she was disposed of.

What?

The General wants me to take good care of you.

So naturally, I can't slack off.

Just be good and stay here.

Where is Baili Han? I want to see Baili Han!

You can't see the General just because you want to.

Baili Han! Baili Han! Baili Han!

Be quiet! If you keep yelling, don't blame me!

Come, come, come! Let me hug you!

What did you say just now?

Baili Han! You're becoming more rude!

Why did you come in without sending a message?

I just wanted to tell Your Majesty

that the Mysterious Lady of the Azure Dragon has been found.

That's great!

You have merit! I won't hold it against you.

At the same time, we have captured the Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird and Jiu Li's Shangguan Jin.

That's even better!

Your Majesty, how do you intend to deal with them,?

Jiu Li's Shangguan Jin...

If we fight with them, it'll be quite troublesome.

Just let them go.

General Baili, what do you think?

Kill.

Kill? That's what I want, too!

You must kill them!

I'll leave this matter to you!

This Baili Han is being too rude!

He talks to you like that!

I'm just using him!

Okay, okay. Let's continue!

Can you calm down?

I can't! Because it's not your friend, of course, you're not in a panic.

Brother Shangguan, why did you come to Dong Ling?

I came to investigate the kidnapped girls.

Were they captured by Baili Han?

Then where are they?

I was useless. I haven't found them yet.

How can it be your fault for being useless?

If we are to blame, we have to blame Baili Han for being too evil!

Dong Ling is so big. He must have hidden them away so we can't find them.

Why won't you tell her the truth?

What truth? What are you talking about?

Brother Shangguan, what is he saying? What truth?

If you don't want to be the bad person, then allow me.

They're already dead.

That's impossible!

Brother Shangguan, he's lying, right?

Right, Brother Shangguan? Hurry and say it!

She'll know eventually.

Brother Shangguan, say something!

Baili Han!

Baili Han! Come out!

I want to kill you! I'll kill you the moment I see you!

Give Fu'er back!

Baili Han! Come out!

Stop yelling. Would they come back to life that way?

You cold face ghost! Not only is your face cold,

so is your heart!

Enough!

You want to cry?

Chi Yu!

I definitely won't cry in front of you!

Who's there?

-Young Master, I've come late!-You're not late.

Idiot, stay close to me.

Where did that brat go?

This place is so big! How should I search?

Fu'er! Fu'er?

Fu'er!

Fu'er! Fu'er!

-Su Mo! Su Mo, I'm here Su Mo!-Stop yelling!

Let me out...

or else I'll kill you!

Kill me?

Okay!

I'll see if you are that brave.

Don't come over!

I really will kill you!

Come! Kill me!

I'll give you the chance!

Then I'll kill myself!

If I die, let's see how you report to Baili Han!

Drop the knife, or else I'll make you regret it!

-Put it down!-Worst comes to worst, I'll just die!

If I die, you won't be able to live either!

Let me out!

Let go of me! That hurts, Cold Face Ghost!

-You are too rash!-Stop there!

-Su Mo!-Fu'er!

Don't move!

Brother Shuangguan!

Fu'er! He's a bad person! We've come to save you!

Save her? I'm afraid it won't be that easy.

Miss Fu'er is our VIP guest.

If you want to take her away, you have to ask me first.

Baili Han, you low life! Give the girls of Peach Blossom Hollow back!

Why don't I understand your words, Miss Su?

You killed Wu Yang, and you stand there acting like you know nothing?

Where is the evidence? Without evidence,

based on what you are saying those girls are in Dong Ling?

So it was Jiu Li's Mr. Jin who told you.

But you need to know that Jiu Li and Dong Ling have always been on bad terms.

Mr. Jin, are you being an instigator?

Brother Shangguan wouldn't do that!

Brother Shangguan?

I got it.

In your heart, you've already split us into good and bad people.

Bad people like me, you won't believe anything I say.

Mr. Jin.

Why did you break into my residence late at night?

Also you, Brother Yu.

Last night, we were still drinking and talking together.

Today, why are we meeting with swords?

You are friends with him?

If I said that we weren't,

would you believe me?

I would.

General Baili, you should understand very well what you've done.

Tonight, I will take away the Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird.

I have no opinions on anything else you do.

Then if I won't let you?

Then I can only force my way through!

Stop it!

-If you don't stop, I'll die right here!- Fu'er!

-Fu'er, be careful! Don't hurt yourself!-Mo'er!

Baili Han! Let Su Mo and the others leave.

I promise to stay in Dong Ling.

Don't you hear me?

You really are the Mysterious Lady of the Azure Dragon.

You are brave.

Previously, I always thought that you weren't as brave as Su Mo.

Then let them leave! You cannot make things hard on them!

Okay!

Since the Mysterious Lady said so, I will do as she says.

Shangguan Jin, you broke into my residence and slandered our Dong Ling.

Let's let this matter pass.

If you do that again, I won't let you go!

You can leave!

No! We cannot leave! If we are to leave, we're taking Fu'er with us!

Miss Su Mo! We will definitely save Miss Fu'er!

But that's not going to happen now! Let's go and plan first!

If you want to go, then leave yourself!

-You-!-Su Mo!

Miss Fu'er, we will definitely come back to save you.

Let's go!

Shuang'er,

how many years have you been with me?

Ever since I was eight, I've been with you, General.

You can leave.

Leave! You are not needed here anymore!

If you don't want me,

I would rather die!

You couldn't even keep an eye on a helpless person!

You let the Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird and Shangguan Jin run just like that, what use is keeping you?

I know I was wrong!

As long as you keep me by your side,

I will definitely bring merit upon my crime!

Don't forget.

Your life is mine.

Go punish yourself!

Thank you, General!

Where is General Baili?

General, why are you getting mad again?

-Your Majesty, why have you come without an invitation?-What do you mean, coming without an invitation?

This entire Dong Ling are the emperors!

Your Majesty, why did you come today?

I wanted the emperor to take me to see what that Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird looked like.

What that famous Shangguan Jin looks like.

I didn't think that only when we arrived did I hear

that the Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird and that Shangguan JIn made a big scene at your residence.

And then they left!

Emperor, what are you afraid of?

I'm speaking the truth!

And I thought General Baili was so amazing!

He let them run away in his own residence!

Actually-

-Your Majesty, save me!-Baili Han, you're being too much!

That is my favorite concubine! You-!

She's a spy from another country.

I only did what a vassal should.

Come! Escort the emperor back to his rooms!

General!

-How is she?-There are no movements.

-I want to go back!-Okay.

But not right now.

I just knew you weren't that nice.

I definitely won't help you revive the Azure Dragon!

You have misunderstood.

I kept you here not to help me revive the Azure Dragon.

It is to ensure your safety.

You ensure my safety?

You didn't know. In the temple, Shangguan Jin wanted to kill you.

Brother Shangguan wanted to kill me?

-Impossible.-There is nothing impossible in this world.

Then tell me! Why did he want to kill me?

Because you are the Mysterious Lady of the Azure Dragon.

In the past, Shangguan Jin might not have done that.

But now, he knows that you are the Mysterious Lady of the Azure Dragon. Also, they have found the Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird.

-Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird?-It is your best friend.

Su Mo is the Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird?

That's even more impossible!

I don't understand that matter very much.

But, what I do know now is,

you are the Mysterious Lady of the Azure Dragon. You need to know how many people want to kill you right now.

But what I know is that you want to kill them! You want to kill Su Mo, and Chi Yu, too!

I'm just protecting myself.

I have to protect your safety!

Of course, not only as Dong Ling's lead general.

It is even more so as the guardian of the Mysterious Lady of the Azure Dragon, to protect you.

But...

-But they, they said you-!-What others say isn't important.

The important thing is what you see.

One day, you will understand.

The truth isn't what they say it is.

Miss Fu'er, get some rest.

Previously, you said I wasn't as good as Su Mo.

What did that mean?

You are too tired.

Have a good sleep.

[Gui Yun Inn]

You-! You dare to hit me?

Do you want me to knock you out one more time?

I don't mind.

Tell the General that the Mysterious Lady of the Vermilion Bird has been found.

Ask him to send reinforcements.

-Hurry and go.-Yes.

You're notifying Jiu Li?

-It's just in case.-Just in case the Mysterious Lady is taken away?

Yes.

-Are you sure she is the Mysterious Lady?-In the Dong Ling temple,

as one of the seven stars of the Vermilion Bird,

did you not feel it?

I only went to save her. I didn't make the effort to notice anything else.

Did I think too much?

Why do I feel that you're hostile to me?

-Am I?-As one of the seven mansions of the Vermilion Bird, our goal is the same.

-Revive the Vermilion Bird and protect the Mysterious Lady.-That is you.

-Not me.-But on your body, you have the mark of the Vermilion Bird as well.

-That is our destiny.-Destiny?

It seems like you quite believe in fate.

You don't?

If I did, I wouldn't be here today.

Where are you going?

-You-!-You are quite stupid.

You think that the same trick can be used several times?

Say whatever you like.

Where were you planning to go?

I only wanted to take a walk. I'll go where I want!

Do you need to use the window to take a walk?

I was playing! What are you going to do about it?

Then play slowly.

That's right, I'll tell you.

Even if someone like you entered Dong Ling,

you will die very soon.

Take care!

You're not stopping me. Do you have a trick up your sleeve?

I'm not stopping you because your life or death has nothing to do with me.

Okay! Then don't block me! If you block me again, you're a pig!

Miss Fu'er, this is our Dong Ling's Zhaoyang Palace.

Dusk is Zhao Yang Palace's most beautiful time.

It is the Mysterious Lady's chambers now.

My chambers?

The Mysterious Lady is Dong Ling's most precious person.

Of course, you must live in the most extravagant place.

Get on the horse.

-I...-What is it?

You don't know how to ride?

Who said I can't?

-What are you doing?-What am I doing?

You can leave now.

What are you doing?

I want to go save Fu'er.

Why aren't you stopping her?

Shangguan Jin,

why should I block her? What is she to me?

If she wants to go die, no one can stop her.

You can stop her today, but she can secretly go out tomorrow.

I'm telling you.

Saving her is your matter. Whether you can keep an eye on her is also your matter!

Chi Yu., our bodies both have the mark of the seven stars of the Vermilion Bird.

-We live to protect the Vermilion Bird!-Guardians of the Vermilion Bird?

Mr. Jin, you make it sound quite nice.

I think you only want to find the Mysterious Lady to summon the Vermilion Bird and help you protect Jiu Li.

Do you really care about other peoples' matters?

I know that this identity has brought you many troubles!

-But the heavens mandated it!-Don't say that to me!

I'll decide my own life!
