Original subtitles

This girl is pretty.

Why does she keep staring?

These itinerant singers, can't really make a living,

Can't blame them for their envy

when they see so much treasure.

Well then, how many wives have I got?

One, two, three... about 28 in all.

Very well, I'll make it 29.

General!

Are you sure?

Don't argue, quiet!

Order, please!

What happened?

No pay again for this month.

Again?

Yes!

Give us the money...

Are they going to start a riot?

No, they haven't been paid in 3 months.

I've been too busy to remember.

Tell them to stay calm, they'll get their money today.

You can leave.

Yes!

General, are you going to pay them?

We've lost all our money

to General Tsao.

How the hell can I pay them?

Go and tell all my wives and children

to get ready to run.

Yes, General!

Get ready to make a run for it.

Do you have to shout it to the world?

Yes, quit yelling.

You're yelling even louder.

Shut up!

Hurry up!

You're so clumsy, don't join us.

Go...

It's mine.

It's mine.

I have a share too!

Let me take it!

Soldiers!

Bring me the jewel box.

Bring to me!

Yes!

I must be dreaming. Don't wake me up

Go and take it!

The General says to go to the backyard now.

Get in the car.

Yes... Let's go.

Take this quickly

or you'll be left behind.

Wait for me, General.

How dare you wear silk? Take it off!

Don't... Never wake me up!

Keep dreaming, you'll gain more and more.

You'll regret it when you wake up.

God, you're too good to me!

I swear, I'd rather die than

to sing for a living again.

The car...

I'm not taking passengers.

Please take me to the railway station.

I have to catch a train.

But Miss, it's not on my way.

Take me to the station and keep this.

Certainly!

There's a team of soldiers coming over.

Go over there.

Nothing suspicious in the car.

Search over there.

What is it?

Stand over there!

I've got nothing on me!

Don't move!

You stay here!

What've you seen?

Somebody suspicious.

Suspicious?!

Go back!

Reporting to the General!

Are there any rebels?

No evidence on the man who was shot.

Are you alright, General?

I'm oK!

Wan, are you scared?

I'm alright, Dad!

You've been away and living in comfort for years

now you've got to get used to

life in your Motherland.

I will adapt.

Commander.

General Tun lost all the salaries

playing mahjong with you.

He has already got away.

The soldiers have started a riot.

He lost everything to me only in a few games.

Send someone to take care of his folks.

I'll move into his house right away.

Let me search her.

Stay away!

Let me do it.

Yes!

There's nothing.

You may go!

Go!

Stand aside.

Chun Wo Troupe, isn't it a theatre group?

The Commander is gone.

Wonder who they will send next?

Towel!

Chun Wo Troupe!

Shape up... you've got to fight.

Boss, the medicine's here.

Hurry! Take it upstairs.

No more delay. Hurry!

We don't have enough actors for the good guys.

Those playing villains should get changed now.

Change the costumes... Hurry!

Hurry up!

Don't you know the rules? No women allowed.

Can I go backstage to see someone?

No women there too.

Otherwise men wouldn't need to play women.

You're so derogatory to women,

you'll be castrated one day

Did you just touch me?

No way. I was looking for my shoes.

Be quick...

Brother!

I've got a few more wrinkles.

The harder you count, the more you'll find

Fa's next.

Go ahead, don't play with me anymore.

He's prettier than the girl last night.

Hurry up...

one by one... follow the leading actor!

Watch your step, hurry...

oh, it's you?

Dad,

Kid Hung has a cold

I'll take his place...

Damn you!

Want them to know we have a woman in the troupe?

I'll lose face!

Go and wash your face.

Always dreaming of acting! What can you perform?

If you want to perform, be a man!

The luggage and the medical kit are back.

Go and wash your face

then wrap them up.

Keep on fighting...

Who would want to see a broad play a broad?

Only you'd want to!

Mr. Liu, have you eaten?

Boss!

Keep working.

Boss, the officer is here.

Commissioner, please!

Mr. Tun, are you hiding any rebels?

How could I even dare? Some tea?

Bring it over here then!

Yes, Captain!

When did the troupe arrive?

Just arrived yesterday.

Go and search the back stage.

Peking Duck

in three different dishes or the whole duck?

So troublesome! Let me have it rare.

Are you Comrade Ling Bei Hai?

You are Comrade Sung.

The man you want to see is standing behind me.

We have to find a more suitable place.

This is more suitable.

There's no one.

Hold it!

You too!

What?

He's a traitor!

We're looking for rebels!

Who's a rebel?

Don't waste time.

She doesn't belong here.

How do you know?

She's the General's daughter.

Everyone knows that.

Stay calm, read this letter first.

We invited her from abroad.

As her dad is connected to this matter,

please keep her identity a secret.

If not, we can't succeed.

There's a woman, lock her up!

This mission is about President Yuan.

President Yuan?!

We have to steal a document.

What document?

We suspect he is taking foreign bank loans.

Borrowing from foreigners?

He wants to build up power to conquer the South.

Back to monarchism.

Why you then?

We suspect that

my dad is the middleman for the progress,

and the documents are with him.

We have to get hold of those papers.

So we can uncover Yuan's conspiracy.

Then we can have democracy.

What's the matter?

We found an unidentified woman

in your troupe.

She's my daughter.

Such an immoral thing!

How can you prove she is your daughter?

Her mother is my wife.

Give me proof.

Take her!

I'll go and find my wife.

Write carefully, if not, they'll get mad.

Give me today's takings to save someone!

That's it! A serious matter.

Yes!

My wife's coming.

You're lying.

She's so thin.

How can she have such a big daughter?

I'll find a fat one tomorrow.

What are you performing outside?

The Tough overlord.

A good one.

We want to watch.

All women are rebels.

What about your mom?

How dare you say that?

Give the pants back to Kid Hung.

Prepare supper!

We're having hotpot tonight?

Hotpot? It's potato!

Go away!

Be smart!

He's from the inspection office. They're everywhere.

Be careful next time.

Remember,

we'll meet at Sung's office.

After I steal the documents, you take it down South.

Not bad,

prettier than the guy next door.

What's his name?

Fa!

Fa!

Dad, you have no money for supper.

Where is the potato from last night?

Is that enough?

Just eat. Beware I'll break your leg.

Courting again?

You want a companion?

I'm a gentleman.

Dad, should I wait up for you?

Why do you think I asked you to stay?

Careful you don't get a cuff on the ear.

What are you doing?

That's a nice car.

What are we going to do to that guy?

Where is the jewelry?

I didn't take it Really?

Tie him up.

If he doesn't talk, castrate him!

Do you have another punishment?

Where's the General?

He's in a meeting with the foreigners.

Miss, have a rest first.

OK, you can go out.

Yes!

Both parties are bound by the contract.

If we breach the terms, the 5 foreign banks

have the right to take everything as penalty.

Can you repeat that?

How much can the President get?

The loan is 25 million pounds.

So he can have 1/3 of it.

And 47 years later,

we'll pay you back 67.5 million pounds.

That's 3 times the loan.

What will the world look like 47 years later?

Who knows?

Give me a pen for the signature.

I'll show the President the contract in 2 days.

There shouldn't be any problems.

What are they doing?

They're toasting the President

Great...

Tell them, I am inviting them to dinner tonight.

Wait for me in the living room.

Yes!

Captain!

Hold it!

Who's that?

It's you?

How come it's you?

Taking action without my orders!

You're too rough.

Don't bullshit, go and get the document.

You're so careless. Just pack it up.

It's you?

Are you one of us?

I don't think so.

Peking Duck!

Tastes good.

She's not one of us.

What's the matter?

I heard a shot, check out the inspection office.

Sounds like trouble.

We must strike while the iron's hot.

How about this guy?

Don't waste time. Bring him along.

Is there a fire out there?

Yes!

Check it out.

Yes!

Someone's coming. We'll try another day.

Madame!

I saw someone over there.

Yes!

You can't run away.

Wait for me at the garage.

I'll go to the study room.

General!

Wait, where are you going?

Protect me.

Yes!

It's too high!

Open the door. Yes.

In the reading room, quick!

Quick!

General, was that a gun shot?

Why are you so late?

The rebels are inside, search!

Listen up! The rebels are inside.

Go in and search!

Yes!

This is the rebel!

After him, quick!

You two protect the General.

Listen, no one goes out or comes in.

Shoot on sight.

Yes!

He's gone?!

Then I have to go!

The house is full of soldiers, you want to be caught?

Do you still want to go?

Sit down!

Tell me the truth.

What is your mission here?

What do you mean, mission?

You don't understand? Why are you here?

I don't really know.

I jumped into the bucket.

And the bucket brought me here

Is that a "mission"? Does that count?

I saved you once, you must promise me

whatever happens tonight, you won't tell anyone.

I can swear to that.

You don't have to do that.

No trouble at all, I always swear.

Jump over!

It's too high, I'm scared.

Scared of heights? Or scared of dying?

Dying!

Then jump now!

Brother, a motor car!

Look at the shining headlights. So beautiful.

It must be pretty expensive.

Nobody's watching, let's move it away.

Good!

Quick, come!

Don't you know it's the General's car...

Let me give you a hand.

Quick!

Come!

Sell it in Tianjin and I'll be rich.

Captain!

I beg you Captain,

please don't tell anyone you saw me here

Stay here!

If this gets out,

we'll never be able to rob like this again.

How about we kill him?

If the General knows about it,

he will shoot me.

I beg you, Captain, please don't tell...

What are you doing?

You guys, don't...

Go!

Don't be so ruthless!

Don't kill him!

What's happening?

We've been discovered by those bastards.

Say no more, close the door!

Why are you bringing her along?

She came here by accident.

Then we are going to take her by accident.

If she gets caught,

she will spill our secret.

OK!

Help me, I don't want to die.

He's not dead?!

What are you doing?

He saved me, I can't leave him like that.

It's getting crowded, get in!

Have we met somewhere before?

You're hurt bad. Your eyes are playing tricks.

Bandage the wound, quick.

Madam!

Open the gate.

Yes!

Open it!

The oil-tank has a hole, the car can't move!

Listen, someone is coming!

Someone from the inspection office.

If they see us like this, we are in trouble.

Maybe we should leave the car.

Take them to a safe place,

or there will be more trouble.

So much blood, I'll faint.

Hold him!

Oh my dress!

Damn, they've seen us.

Don't take him with you.

Dad!

Hey, who are you guys?

What are you doing here?

So you want to get away from these bastards.

Right, lady, that's why you got to help us.

My god, he's hurt so bad.

He needs surgery.

Find a place for him first.

Surgery?!

I'll go to the car to get the tools.

You take him in first.

I'll take him in.

Can't go there, go to my room!

I can't open the door and let everyone in.

OK, our code is "Peking Duck", remember!

Peking Duck?!

I'll come back immediately!

This is even more ridiculous.

You've been searching all over, what are you looking for?

Do you know where the box is?

Backstage!

Where is the backstage?

Over there!

I'll find it!

Come back, no running around!

Girl, do you have a piece of cloth?

Take one and clean the blood for me.

Get away! Bastard!

Tell your friend not to run around, will you?

I don't know her.

Don't know her?

Then why are you together?

Is that strange, I don't know him either.

What?

Do you know the woman who went out?

I know her.

I really don't know what you're playing at.

I'll open the door.

Don't bother, you two watch her.

Peking Duck!

Peking Duck...

It's Tuna Fish!

Wrong, go away!

Open the door, I'm your dad!

Brat, open it!

Dad, I'm sorry!

What Peking Duck, Nanking Duck?

Watch out or I'll tear your ear off.

Dad!

Are you that hungry? Always thinking of food.

What bloody duck?

Why do you look like you're calling for help?

I'm too tired!

Just go to sleep, go to sleep...

Damn, my dad is back, you must go!

Oh no, who is it this time?

I'm dead for sure.

No, I must send them away.

Peking Duck or Tuna Fish!

Peking Duck!

Right!

How come there is Tuna Fish?

Peking Duck is for you.

Tuna Fish is my father, he's already back.

My ears are going to be tortured again.

You better be going!

Bring the alcohol and the cloth here.

OK!

And heat some water.

Yes!

Shouldn't I send them away?

First tear off his clothes.

Take the cloth and wipe off the blood.

Why are you still standing here?

Go get the thing.

OK, he is alright now!

It's too crowded here, take her outside.

You're complaining about the size of the room?

Sit down!

Did you study medicine overseas?

I studied gynaecology.

Now I can go to the backstage.

Really, you can't even hold the lantern!

Go to bed earlier, even your skin will be better.

Give me back my perfume?

I know, stupid!

Oh no, those actors are coming back.

Better leave before someone sees you!

Go!

Go, be quick!

Where is the chignon?

The actors are coming, go...

Just look at the watchdog.

She's still laughing.

Damn you!

I hate this!

Still up, Dad?

So much has happened tonight.

How can I sleep?

I thought about that night.

It was exactly the same as tonight.

She saved my life.

If not, I'll not be alive.

This pistol is a gift from a French person.

It's dangerous around here.

Take it with you!

Dad, I'll take care of myself.

Keep it with you.

I have bodyguards.

I'm worried about you.

You are my only child.

I worry there's no one

to inherit my legacy.

I'm old.

I've seen everything.

Remember, a person has to look after himself.

Dad!

If I lose this key,

we've to start from the beginning.

I work hard

for my children.

Pay attention to what I said.

I've a companion, go to bed!

General!

Dad keeps the key with him.

We have to steal the key and open the safe

at the same time,

we'll blow our cover.

You're right!

Unless we make a mould for the key,

and replace it instantly.

Steal it while he's sleeping,

as simple as that.

My dad has a woman

with him each night.

That woman will notice.

Is he alone when he's bathing?

There's nowhere to hide in the bathroom.

What else can we do?

Can I make a little suggestion?

Why is he here?

It's so easy to be caught running around.

Is it safer to stay here?

Can you stop arguing?

Listen to my suggestion first!

OK.

You mentioned the bedroom and you, the bathroom

Why not the toilet?

Toilet!

When the General is out and about,

he'll need to take a pee sooner or later.

If you can make him to go to the toilet,

and you wait for him there,

then he's trapped.

I've said my piece.

If there are no other ideas,

we can try this.

The toilet? Really?

Which one?

I'm thinking!

Kwok Wo Building!

Mr Wong, they are the actors from Tianjin.

Show them to Fa

This way...

Have everything ready.

Yes!

Go!

What are you doing? Come down!

Just do what you think is necessary.

Just work.

Quick!

Don't pretend to be mysterious.

Pearl... come out!

That way.

The box is up there.

I lost my money.

Why are you rubbing the stand?

It's almost full.

Get lost... we're celebrating.

Big deal!

Get away...

Get away...

Celebrating...

Ask your men to come for their presents.

Put it down!

Don't touch it.

What's the matter?

Don't move, or I'll nab you.

Who did you sent the dift to?

With Commander Liu's order,

send these to Fa.

Who is looking for me?

Someone sent this for you.

When you're in luck

everything goes smoothly.

Even the council will take notice of you.

Our Commander wants you to be happy

after you receive this.

He'll pick you up in 3 days.

Then you'll be his husband.

But I'm a man.

He doesn't want to be the husband.

Only a man can be one.

I don't want to... go for someone else

Will you do it?

Don't touch me!

If this spreads,

I wouldn't be able to get married.

I can't sacrifice my life

just for you.

Are you going to get married to the Commander?

No!

Beat him!

You have the freedom to choose.

Didn't you say that?

It's important to be happy.

You can't force things.

His skin is so soft,

and a woman needs comforting not beating.

Look at yourself!

You're such a flirt.

Too bad.

Liu's present is here.

Don't flirt anymore.

Sacrifice yourself for the troupe.

Get married in 3 days.

Search around.

My dear.

Think of your comfortable life afterwards.

The General's here.

He's here because of me?

If Fa is not with us,

we'll be finished.

Don't do that in front of the General.

General!

Master!

Bai Niu, you must save me.

I'm the inspection officer, Mr Liu.

I'm here to protect the General.

Are you trying to escape?

Where are you going?

Being a flagholder in Cainan.

I have to perform even in the villages.

What are you doing?

Take more costumes with you.

You'll be able to use it.

Take my place.

Don't let anyone see me running away.

You'll be all alone.

Take some medicine with you.

Run.

Run!

Maybe we won't meet again! Take care!

Take care!

Put on the make up.

The General doesn't like this kind of food.

Change it.

I like this dim sum.

Who is she?

Your daughter.

She makes me lose face.

Have you looked for Fa?

Yes!

General!

Who is she?

I don't know!

That's better.

I can't find Fa backstage.

What? He's gone!

Don't let him get away!

Yes!

She's fake, I'm real.

She's fake, I'm real.

Let's go.

Give chase!

Quick...

I'll go over there.

Wrong position.

What should I do now?

Follow me.

Do what I do.

General, I'm hungry.

Take a bite then.

Miss, are you alright?

I'm fine.

Take them backstage.

No need to explain.

Yes Sir!

I'm hurt.

You can't die, you haven't paid us yet.

Can't pull it out.

If they are women,

they can become my wives.

Boss, shall I die or not?

Since you like it so much, stay dead.

A corpse doesn't need make-up.

We can get closer afterwards.

General, I've a stomach ache.

Go to the toilet then.

What are we going to do?

Take him away!

Yes, Sir!

That's difficult.

Who is he?

It hurts!

Taking advantage!

All of them are women. What am I going to now?

Commander Liu!

What's the matter, Miss?

Where's the toilet?

This way, I'll show you.

No, thanks!

I can find my way, you stay to protect the General.

Bei Hai!

I'm here.

You two go to protect her.

By the way, find out

why Miss Choi is late?

What's happening?

I caused her to faint.

Miss Choi!

Miss Choi passed out.

Help her out here.

Yes!

Here!

Yes!

What happened?

A ghost, in the toilet!

Ghost?

Not a ghost, it's Fa.

Protect the General.

Threatening me?

Hold it!

Grab the rebels.

Freeze! Get up!

Beware!

Lie down!

Oh my box!

This way!

Oh my box!

You looked excellent in the air.

Too bad you're not a bird.

But you'll be in my hand

and kept in my cage.

I'll slowly teach you to fly!

Release him!

If not, I'll shoot the General.

Shoot the guy in black.

He's really bad.

No, he's holding my dad hostage.

Hope the gun doesn't run out of bullets.

I only have one bullet.

You can't escape after shooting the General.

I don't care, exchange hostages.

Go there!

Grab him, don't shoot.

Look at me!

Hold it!

Who do you think you are? Fire!

Don't. He doesn't think I'm a human.

I didn't realise I could jump that high.

There are rebels in the theatre.

They're coming, take them!

Close down the theatre.

Close down the theatre?

Dad!

I told you not to go on stage.

You brat, I'll kill you!

Stand still!

Run!

To where?

I want to kill her!

Don't...

I told not to go on stage, but you did.

I'm going to kill you!

Let me go!

The theatre is closing down.

What are you staying here for?

Dad, I left something backstage.

Go home first!

Protect her.

Yes!

Found it!

It's cold outside, put on a coat.

I don't need your sympathy.

Your performance was terrific.

What's the use?

When a woman goes on stage,

she becomes a laughing stock.

Don't be silly,

didn't you hear the applause?

Don't get depressed, you're excellent.

Even if you fail, try again.

Don't give up!

You make us lose face!

Come here!

Quick...

Let's go for a drink.

OK!

I use to wear these clothes abroad.

How come all educated girls

dress so strangely?

Can't tell if you're a boy or a girl.

It's so I can move more freely.

What is this?

This is the globe.

What?

This is our world.

This is China

Look!

Where is Peking?

Here, as a dot.

Where is Kwok Wo Building?

Inside the dot.

You're kidding, there are no houses?

Peking looks like a dot.

The world is so big, where can I go?

Are you planning to go somewhere?

Everyone is running away.

Running for their lives.

I don't get it, this is a nice place.

Why do they have to run away?

We run around

but finally come back to the same place.

Dad!

Have you been to bed?

Not yet!

They're my friends.

I'm sending them home.

They can stay for the night.

I'll be back soon.

Quick!

Who is it?

They were the actors on stage today.

They are women?

Look!

Why are you here?

The Publishing office is being watched.

The officer told us not to go back there tonight.

Right!

We need a place to hide.

It's so cold.

There's only one bed and one blanket.

How can we sleep?

Doesn't matter, we're all girls.

We can sleep together.

Come on!

We can share the blanket.

Sleep.

Come on! No space here, don't come near.

Boss...

What's the matter?

The General wants the theatre reopened.

He's coming tonight.

Look for your daughter,

and that girl.

Why?

If not, you'll die.

Quick!

Bai Niu...

Bai Niu...

Bai Niu...

Why didn't you answer me?

What? Are you feeling alright?

Do you have a fever?

No, I'm shivering.

Cover yourself with a blanket then.

Really!

Dad hits you and scolds you

for your own good.

Don't be scared.

Look at your hands, so rough.

Dad!

Use the blanket.

I've been a performer my whole life.

Look, I've so much grey hair.

Didn't expect you'd want to act too.

Dad!

It'll be a waste if you don't act.

You know I like acting.

Yes, I know.

Dad!

Good girl!

Dad!

Child!

Dad!

Dad, I feel so bad!

How come you yawn differently each time?

Have a good rest.

He's coming to see me?

Right,

also the girl last night.

Where can we find her?

Why are you here?

Are you looking for me?

I didn't see you just now.

Dad!

You saw her already, show your face!

We need to clean our faces...

We'll be on stage tonight.

Why are you dressed like this?

Danger!

You really have to perform tonight.

I've an idea. What?

I've to act tonight?

Yes!

Do it.

It's too hard, I don't want to do it.

Carry on...

You want Sheung Hung to seduce my dad?

You want me to seduce her dad?

And stay with him overnight?

That's only to take off dad's coat.

The key is in the coat.

That means I've to get married to your dad.

And you'll call me mom?

You put this powder

in his drink.

He'll wake up in 1/2 hour.

Wan will wait outside the door.

Why should I help you?

We'll pay you half first

and the balance afterwards.

Why not Bai Niu?

Because we know

you won't be averse to this.

Right!

What?

Nothing!

Sheung Hung, Bai Niu, your turn

Quick!

Bai Niu, Sheung Hung

Congratulations on your debut.

Thanks!

A toast to your success.

Are you afraid you might be discovered here?

I wanted to see you one last time.

Last time?!

After the mission

will you stay or go with us?

OK, I'll see you again.

Are you worried about your dad?

He's my only relative.

If he finds out what you're doing

will he forgive you?

No!

Maybe he will.

Absolutely not.

I'm the person he trusts most.

The General is inviting you for a drink.

You've to go too?

So? Once a woman starts working

she'll have this problem.

If you don't go, we'll be finished.

What are you going to do?

I'll go fetch Mr Ling.

He can think of something.

Where is the powder!

It's oK, just take another pack.

Don't lose it or you can't return tonight.

You're terrific. Let me tell you something.

That day in General's house, someone hit you...

Don't say it.

I knew it was you.

I didn't mean to.

You didn't hit that hard.

It doesn't matter.

1 hour...

The General's here.

Your performance tonight

was truly excellent.

Why don't you sit down?

Look at my hands.

Your hands? Nothing wrong.

The other one, nothing too.

Look more clearly.

Nothing.

Don't you think they'll look better with rings?

Bracelets, diamonds, right?

You're so greedy and lovely.

Let me see your hands too.

Why are you holding your palms up?

Let me see...

Not bad.

Let me look at the other.

Relax...

What for?

General!

What are you doing?

Let's play a game.

What game?

Just guess.

Guess?

Tell me!

It's finished.

You're teasing me.

Your punishment is to drink.

I don't drink...

You have to drink.

Hold it!

Don't!

Drink!

You have to finish it...

What did you do to my dad?

I only hit him slightly.

Don't wake him up.

How come?

Is this the one?

Where did you get it?

In his pocket.

You opened it?

Is this the one?

Yes, it is.

Open it.

This is the balance of the payment.

That's it?

What do you mean?

You'll fail.

If I didn't have a quick mind

you wouldn't get these papers.

So I should have more.

I got the papers already,

you won't get more.

What you don't know is that

when I stole those papers, I kept half of it.

They are with me.

Hand it over!

No!

Hand it over!

You wouldn't shoot me.

Bai Niu and I risked our lives for this.

You have to pay her too.

Don't be silly.

One wants the papers by any means.

The other wants money without shame.

Both of you betray your friends.

I don't want to see you again.

Bai Niu!

Let me go!

You asked us for a drink

because you wanted me to seduce your dad.

That wasn't my intention.

Don't you have a conscience,

treating your dad and your friend like that?

I'm not doing this for myself.

Have you ever thought your dad might not let me off?

What am I going to do?

Help!

Release her.

Sheung Hung, you'll be alright.

Don't be afraid.

He's from the inspection office.

He's been keeping an eye on us.

Has my cover been blown?

Dad...

Go in, quietly.

That's Bai Niu.

Bai Niu.

Mr. Kam!

Your dad and the actors have been jailed.

What?

The General is looking for you and Sheung Hung.

What are we going to do?

Run!

Where are we going?

Nanking!

Our men will meet you there.

Run!

How about my dad?

Don't worry, Tsao Wan will save your dad

Go!

Quick!

This way!

Sheung Hung, why are you back?

Tsao Wan asked me to give you this.

Where is she?

She said her cover was blown.

So she has to go back to her dad's.

She'll sacrifice herself if need be.

What?

Search everywhere!

See if there's anyone.

Yes!

Go over there.

Don't come out!

It's dangerous.

Take care of these documents.

Go quickly. I'll take care of things.

Go!

Don't!

Bai Niu, run!

Don't let them get away, chase them!

Chase!

Go separately!

Quick

You two go that way.

Yes!

That's not going to work.

Take care of these documents.

Let me lead them away.

Hey!

Run!

You stay here, others follow me Yes, sir.

Over there!

Run!

Freeze...

or I will shoot.

What are we going to do?

Don't worry, I'll find a way to save them.

We have proof of Tsao's identity.

Did you get her?

How are we going to handle the General?

Who?

Dad!

Pack up.

We all have to go tonight.

If you go away with all these people

it'll be too obvious.

It wil lead to a fight.

Dad lost something important, we have to go.

That's too serious.

If your people know you've lost your power, they'll rebel.

I think it's safer

if we disguise ourselves.

What?

If I feared danger, I wouldn't be in the army.

I risked my life for years

fighting those who did not support me.

Dad, think of the others.

Think for the whole situation.

There would be nothing without me.

Words are sweet...

But everyone is selfish.

The greater the power, the louder you can talk.

Dad!

Dad!

If all the councillors think that way,

why do we need the government?

We should shoot all dissenters!

Dad!

No matter what's happening,

we'll be together.

Pack up, time is running short.

Alright I'll go!

Give me the key, you two get out!

Yes!

Quick, if not, it'll be too late.

We got help... run...

We're saved.

Yes.

Stop singing,

or I'll put you in jail.

Get away!

Quick!

Dad!

Where is your luggage?

Not packed yet.

Let's go without it!

Reporting! Yes?

The officers are here.

Who do you think they are?

Why are you here? Go!

We want to invite your daughter to our office.

We suspect she is connected to the rebels.

You have no right

to say so;

My daughter is not a rebel.

I'll kill whoever says that.

Dad...

Dad...

Dad!

She's not a rebel.

Wan, run...

Hide the gun.

General Tun ran off with everything.

Why is he back?

I don't understand politics.

Before, Tsao used to have the power.

Then Tun had to run away.

Now Tsao has fallen,

Tun is back.

That's simple.

What did you say?

Just being sociable.

Take him back for questioning!

I'm an overseas Chinese.

That's even worse.

Lock him up.

Here the sand, Captain!

Where are the documents?

I swallowed them.

In your stomach?

Hit!

A drip!

Please stop.

Or, I'll lose my temper.

Wait!

Would you help me test Tsao's daughter?

You can do what you like after that.

OK, send her to the General's house.

Tsao Wan...

You're all too Ionely.

Take care of them when it's dark.

Yes!

Sir, someone to see you!

I'm not seeing anyone

till tomorrow morning.

Shoot him if he insists.

General!

Oh, it's you.

General, she's been looking for you.

Even though she is sick.

Such a pitiful thing.

Why don't you tell me that?

I did.

Take her to the study room.

You can go.

Wait for me outside.

Don't bother me, or I'll shoot you

Where am I?

Oh, it's you, General.

You passed out just now

My heart is beating so fast

Listen, if you don't believe me.

Listen!

What are you doing?

General!

Be patient.

Come...

Give me a kiss.

Be patient!

Hold it!

Don't play with me.

Come...

Don't go!

Come back...

Don't go... come back...

Come back...

Hold it!

I don't trust you.

What are you doing?

General?

What's happening?

General...

Don't.

General, they entered without your permission.

Get out!

Ask my sister to come in.

The General asked you to go in.

Close the door!

Sheung Hung!

Tsao Wan, how come you're here too?

Keep quiet!

Sit down first.

Why are you crying?

Who beat you?

Tell me, who?

I'm fine, don't worry

They'll kill Bei Hai and Dong Min at nightfall.

The sun is setting, what can we do?

Find a way to save them.

Do you see the window of the tallest building?

He's being locked in there.

Bai Niu, do you think you can climb up there?

I'm looking for a way.

Go and get the General's pistol.

Don't faint.

Their lives are in your hands.

You have to succeed.

Be careful!

Tie the bedsheets together.

Tie them up?

Climb down!

Quick!

Open the door!

Ling Bei Hai and Dong Min, guilty of treason,

have been sentenced to death

with immediate effect.

Ready, aim, fire!

How are you?

OK!

Take the key.

How about the soldier? Take a rest!

Go!

Go over there?

The garage is over there.

Quick!

Peking Duck!

Peking Duck is here.

Bei Hai, Tsao Wan!

Dong Min, Sheung Hung!

Are you oK?

I'm fine

Bai Niu, are you oK?

Let's hug outside!

Get in the car.

Captain!

Changing time.

Rebels, chase...

Where are the documents?

In the theatre, let's go back and get them.

Is someone being lazy?

How come there are so few good guys?

Get out!

Mr Kam!

Bai Niu!

Where's dad?

Mr Wong...

Bai Niu, you're back

Dad!

Are you alright?

I'm fine!

We're back for something, and will leave soon.

We're leaving tonight.

Captain, the car is ready.

They must be hiding around here.

Send a team here.

Yes!

Follow me!

Block the streets.

Sit down, there's a curfew outside.

Continue!

Search the theatre.

Yes!

They know we are here.

Go out the back door.

The theatre's surrounded.

They blocked all exits

I've an idea. Tonight we perform the 8 Fairies.

We'll be on stage in make-up.

You?!

The moustache's missing.

Isn't it backstage?

Come over!

We can escape through the roof.

When?

The code is overwhelm the forces!

Captain, all the men

are in position.

Yes!

I want all of them caught.

I can't take off my shell.

Why are they going up?

Overwhelm the forces!

Quick!

Help!

Don't be afraid.

Keep quiet, they're just down there.

Get up quick.

Lie down!

Are you alright?

Don't worry, it's only my shoulder.

Be careful.

Beware, Captain!

Bye!

Tsao Wan!

Wan!

Shit!

Blocked the bullet.

Good shot.

Go up!

That way!

Tsao Wan!

Is it Commander Liu?

Who is shooting?

No one!

Must be the rebels!

We'll go South,

to hand these papers to the congress.

Let them to handle Yuan.

We'll send you off here!

Where are you going?

I'll go to Tianjin to find my dad.

I'll continue singing

and leave China when I've saved enough.

It's chaos right now.

I'll sit it out back on the village farm.

Don't be sad.

We will surely meet again.

After the revolution, I'll see you in Peking.

See you then.

Take care.

OK!
