In order to pass on the throne

With the witness of the spirits of our ancestors

I want to announce that...

the queen's seal is here. Bow down

What's wrong?

I saw yesterday that they pour oil

on the firewood

Why can't them burn?

Change the firewood. Yes

In her will

the the Empress asked me to look after the little prince

All of you should respect and follow her will

You will die young

and you can't get happiness

Guys

Congratulations

Congratulations

Thanks a lot

It is my duty to save Qi when it is in trouble

I don't want you to

hold a Heaven Worshipping Ceremony for me

Nor do I need to ascend the throne

in Taiji Hall

Because from now on

I am the king of Qi

Long live the king

Long live the king

Long live the king

Long live the king

Long live the king

The little prince is not in good shape

you need to feed him more

Yes

Look at him

He looks like my brother very much

Which pad? Only the forehead looks like him

Look at his eyes and eyebrows

The are the same as the Empress

You like kids very much

Right?

Why don't you try to have your own one

with the king?

You can leave now Yes. Be quick

Lu Zhen I never thought it

would be the first time

that I can sleep in Qingjing Hall justifiably

You got the wounds in the river

Does it hurt?

No

It is nothing

compared with the pain

of know that you are in big trouble

Me too

Knowing that you are in deep waters

how I wish I could

go save you as soon as possible

Frankly, I was ready to

die with the enemies

Thank god

the truelove knot gave me lots of power

Stop talking about this

We are so luckly to

be alive

right?

How did you

run away from the king of Wei?

Bi saved me

Bi?

Didn't she go with the Empress?

Where is she?

She died in order to save me

Shangyi Wang also died for the Empress

And Dan-Niang also

also died for me

Lu Zhen

I will announce tomorrow that

you will be the new Empress of Qi

I told you that

I owed you

a bid wedding party

I will make our wedding

the grandest in the world

Prince Gao Wei

son of the previous Empress Xiaolie

integrate and upright

will be the Crown Prince

That's all

Thanks a lot

Zhaoyi Lu, hardworking, thrifty

and kind

will be the Empress

No

why?

Zhaoyi Lu can't be the Empress

Are you too old to do right things?

Zhaoyi Lu

is responsible for taking care of the little prince

and has the queen's seal and the Imperial Seal

At the Heaven Worshiping Ceremony ,

She also denounced the Empress

and brought to light her plot

Such a good girl

doesn't deserve to be my wife?

Your Majesty

It has made clear

in the will of the previous Empress

that Zhaoyi Lu is the concubine of the previous king

How could she

be your wife?

What?

Uncle Zhong, how many people

know about the will?

Many people in the house of Princess Chang

know it

Lu Zhen and I

had a wedding ceremony long before

Our marriage contract is

in the temple now

Though we didn't made it clear that we were husband and wife

she was my

wife long ago

But the mass

they have no idea

They think Lu Zhen

as a widow

You just became the king

We can't let them admire her

for being faithful to the previous king

while

call her the new Empress

You want Lu Zhen

to be my secret lover?

Your Majesty

She can't be your secret lover

Leave me alone

I feel dizzy

Yes

Your Majesty

Do you need the medicine from Chen?

Dan-Niang

The king said he wouldn't make you a big official

He will make you your favorite

Sishan

Your dream

has finally come true

Here is

your favorite snack

Have more

I am so unlucky

I can't wait till you are 30

Sir

You know everything?

Yes

When I took the will

from the Empress

I had a feeling that

it would be a

big stone

between us. Lu Zhen

But in that condition

I had no choice

I didn't blame you

for it

I know you did it for

your brother and Huan-Yun

You did the right thing

So you don't have to care about me

I don't care if I could be

the Empress

Lu Zhen

Whatever the officials may say

I will make you the Empress

But I am a widow

It is OK

You know I am not a Han

But Zhang tries to repress me

with the traditions and etiquette of Han ethnicity

But he forgets

that in both Xianbei and Rouran

there is a rule that

when the elder brother dies

the small brother can marry his wife

My grandpa

did this before

Huan-Yun

thought of this too

Yes

Though Han people may disagree and the mass may talk about it

but I believe

I can deal with them

Don't forget

you have made lots of contributions

for Qi

They all know it

Zhan

What is wrong?

What is wrong?

Let me see

What is wrong?

It is his old injuries

Come on, help

It is OK now

They are just old injuries

I can have some medicine

How could you say that?

You have no idea

how scared I was

seeing you in pain

Your Majesty, I think it is very strange

You wounds

are supposed to get better

So you need to

less medicine

I felt the pain in every two days

then every day

Today

it attacked me

during a few hours

I never give it a thought

No, something wrong with the medicine

Yu-Ming, take it to

the doctors

Yes

Your Majesty, General Chen Guo-wei wants to see you

This is the restroom of the king

How could he

come here?

The king is sick now

Tell him

to come again tomorrow

No

Lu Zhen

General Chen helped me a lot

to come back

again

So I permitted him

to come here

He is a polite man

He wants to see me now

Maybe

he has something urgent to say

I am OK now

Let me see him

Nice to meet you, Your Majesty

What do you

want to say?

The king of my country

asked me to be here

He told me to

tell you that

several days ago

you made ally with him on a few conditions

Do you remember

the third one?

Yes

I will

keep my promise

Please fulfill your

promise

What is the third condition?

Get out of the house

and you will know

Your Majesty

1000 pi of golden silk

9 white jade Ruyis

4000 Southern Pearls

48 Dawan Horses

a couple of Shibao Silk Tree

36 Offspring-Bowls

Why does your king

give me so many presents?

No

it sounds like...

Your Majesty

this is the gift list

here you are

General

Thanks to the help your king

I returned home

safely

Thank you so much

for so many gifts

General

please take my gifts

to your king

Your Majesty

please take all these gifts

You need them

when you

get married

I see

They are the wedding gifts

from

the king of Chen

General

What do you mean?

I mean the third promise

that we hope

you can keep

Please

Nice to meet you, Your Majesty

Nice to meet you, Your Majesty

I am Princess Tongchang from Chen

Stand up

Thanks

Your Majesty, the third condition

is that

our king wants you to marry me

and make me a Empress

From now on, Qi and Chen

will be good friends forever

Chen's king is so mean

He sent the princess

here

What does he want?

Your Majesty

The three conditions

Emperor Wen of Chen borrowed soldiers to you

without hesitation

He planned to marry his princess to you

What do you think?

I think

It is a good opportunity

to be friends with Chen

Your Majesty, Chen's king borrowed soldiers to you

while you are in need

He did this because he is warm-headed

He gave you so many gifts when you become the king

He did this because he is happy for you

He wants you to marry his princess

because he wants to be friends with you

As far as I know

Emperor Wen of Chen's wife gave birth to Princess Tongchang

when he was not the king

and she is his only daughter

He loves her very much

The princess has many lands

and she is very beautiful

She is deserved

to be our Empress

Zhang Xiang, you know me

and Zhaoyi Lu

In the mud

you oppose me to marry her

I have standed you

Now you want to

go further?

Sorry

You and Zhaoyi Lu love each other

Everyone knows it

But the rules...

Stand up

I obeyed the

rules

So I plan to

hold the Empress Canonizing Ceremony after

three months of mourning

You know

the kings of each dynasty

are all from Xianbei

In Xianbei

it is a tradition since the ancient times that

the small brother should marry his elder brother's wife

Everyone knows that

Lu Zhen is the widow of the previous king

But it is justifiable

for me to marry her

Good

That is the spirit of a king

Please think carefully about it

I don't oppose you to

marry her

But it is not proper to make the

Empress

Princess Tongchang

is here

You want to send her back?

I did accept

the three conditions

But I need to keep my

third promise

I need to keep my country intact

Princess Tongchang

is here

He is forcing me to marry her

You know?

When I was

a Crown Princess

The previous king and Empress

was present

I had a wedding ceremony with Lu Zhen

At then

the mourning period of my sister was not over

so we kept it a secret

Actually her name

was engraved

in the royal genealogy of the temple

She was my wife long before

What?

I am serious

Jia-Yan, Uncle Zhong

you know it

Yes

But

If

we refuse the proposal

Will they...?

You know

The 30,000 soldiers

are still stationed in the suburbs of the capital

If they want to fight

don't forget

I have 50,000 strong soldiers on standby

Your Majesty

Don't risk the future of Qi for a girl

Without Lu Zhen

I won't be the king

If I have to choose between her and the country

I will choose her

Miss Lu, don't worry

Your Majesty only loves you

Don't

think too much

Leave it to the king

Yes, Lou left a mess

in the Imperial harem

I need to deal with it

Madame of Yue

Nice to meet you, Your Majesty

Make yourself at home

Please stand up

Thanks

I also invited Princess Tongchang

Why

she is not here?

She comes all the way from Chen

She felt tired

and went to bed early

So she can't make it here

Please forgive her

Does she like

Jiafu Hall?

Yes

It seems that the women officials here

are not very polite

She will be the Empress

How can she live there?

Please find a better place

like Hanguang Hall

I never thought

you would know

so much about the halls

of here

Of course

After our kind decided

to let the princess to marry you

the princess's servants

started to learn the rules

of Qi

I don't think you should say

decide

The king of your country

is my relative

Emperor Wen of Chen

once said that

his cousin Princess Hekang

is the aunt of my wife

Then

how can I

marry Princess Tongchang?

Our king knows about

this

You need to keep in mind

the three

promises

Yes

Qi and Chen are allies

We help each other on military

and food problems

You know

that

your last condition

should be justifiable

It is a good thing for you to marry our princess

very justifiable

Don't you remember?

Zhaoyi Lu

is my wife

Then?

Since the ancient times

many women who was the wife of a king-to-be

ended up

not becoming the Empress

In Han Dynasty

like the wife Emperor Guangwu of Han, Yin Li-Hua

In near times

as far as I know

your father

his wife before he got the throne

was Lou

But your mother Yu

became the Empress

You need to be careful with your words

Your Majesty, I am just a servant

I don't know so many rules

If I said something wrong

please forgive me

I think

you will not

bother to hate me

Our king

knows that

you love Zhaoyi Lu very much

He doesn't want you

to divorce her

She is a princess

Zhaoyi Lu is just an ordinary girl

So many differences

So

Let our princess

be your Empress

and Miss Lu Continues to be a Zhaoyi

Isn't it great?

Madame

You are not in the position

to arrange the things of Qi

You want to break your promise?

If you want to break it

the generals of Chen

will...

As your marriage with our princess

I will write to

our king

Madame

I am not afraid of

being threatened

If Chen thinks that

I insulted the princess

and wants to stem a war

I will fight it to the end

You have my words

But I believe

you will agree

within 3 days

Yuan-Lu

send her back to Jiafu Hall

For these days

let her and Princess Tongchang

stay in

peace. Yes

OK, I am waiting

for your good news

The Madame of Yue

is so mean

She wants to marry her princess

to the king

Like she is selling

her Pigs

Yuan-Lu, you are a

master-eunuch how

Stop talking garbage

Teacher

Why is the Madame of Yue

so arrogant?

If I am right

she is

the aunt of Princess Tongchang

so she is arrogant

Her aunt?

She is the small sister of the Empress of Chen?

No, Emperor Wen of Chen was

just a military official of Liang

His wife was

born by a concubine of a 3rd degree general

He and his wife

only had a daughter

they both loved her very much

Ten years ago

Emperor Wu of Chen, the elder brother of Chen's king

killed a traitor of Liang

and founded Chen

Emperor Wen of Chen was made the Crown Prince

Emperor Wu thought that

the wife of his brother

came from a humble family

she didn't deserve to be the wife of the Crown Prince

So he tried to find someone else to replace her

But

the wife of his brother

was so angry that

the night she got to know this

she jumped into the river with her daughter

She died

as a result

But her daughter

was very lucky

She was OK

Emperor Wen regretted very much

Though he had a few sons

he has given most of his love

to

his daughter

When he became the king

he made the girl Princess Tongchang

and given her the same amount of land

as those for the princes

Her aunt

who brought her up

was made the Madame of Yue

In Chen

She is very powerful

Emperor Wen loves his daughter

so he founded another king

to be her husband

But it is very strange that

Princess Tongchang has very good family back ground,

and she is very beautiful

but why she wants

to marry our king? He doesn't like her

Uncle Zhong, the letter has been sent out?

Yes

A fast horse is used

It will be in Chen the day after tomorrow

Your Majesty

Don't worry

Marriages between the two countries

even if there is a contract

there are many cases of regret

A pretty amount of compensation

will solve the problem

Emperor Wen

is a wise man

If so

he wouldn't have

sent his daughter

here

Something is hidden

in the words of Madame of Yue

I had a feeling that

8 war

will not solve all the problem

Anyway, tell the public that they are

here to visit

and

take good care of them

Let wait the news

from Emperor Wen

OK

It is my second day as a king

the country is in a mess

I have no time

to fight with them

What is wrong?

Your Majesty

Uncle Zhong

Give me the medicine

You want to have it again?

Too much

I have a sharp pain in my head

Go get it

Go

Here you are

Your Majesty is not feeling good

Go get the doctors

Uncle Zhong

Don't tell Lu Zhen

Princess

I will protect you

No one can hurt you

You are here

Liu-Li, leave here

Yes

Lu Zhen

I know you are awake

can you

talk to me?

Don't be angry, OK?

I am really tired

I am not angry

I have no idea

what to say to you

Anything will do

Please talk to me

I don't want to give you a hard time

The words of Zhang Xiang

makes sense

Stop

I told you that

I would take care of it

Forget it

Lu Zhen

Remember the Rouran song

you sang for me?

Can you sing it again?

The Chamberlain Bureau

has suffer great losses in the disorder

Almost a half of the women officials and maids were dead

I invited you here

to help me reorganize the Chamberlain Bureau

We are glad to help

I have drafted an order

and sealed it with the queen's seal

From now on

Madame Du will be the 5th degree Shanggong

in charge of the Chamberlain Bureau

Diansi Chen will go to the Justice Division

Liu-Li will be Clothing Division

Linlang will be 8th degree Chengzhen

in charge of the Treasure Division

Yan Wan qiu will be the 8th degree Zhangshan

and be Food Division

I will take charge of

the Statistics Division

Besides

Liu-Li will be in charge of the Qingjing Hall

Please try your best

to make the Imperial Harem come to life

Yes

Princess Tongchang

is living in Jiafu Hall

Her supplies

are the same amount as

those for Princess Chang

But Madame of Yue doesn't think they are enough

Her maid came to me this morning

to ask for spring water for shower

What?

The spring water are for drinking

Give her some

It is a special time

We can't afford to have big troubles

over some water

OK

You can leave now

I need to get out of the palace

to check the Dyeing Bureau and the Royal Klin

Liu-Li, you go with me

Yes

Aunt

I heard about the

Madame of Yue

Your Majesty is the king of a country

It is inevitable

Even if you are the Empress

but in the future

there will be concubines

Try to have a big head

and be wise

I know

Don't worry

Zhan and I

have been through so much

to be together

We will row over

small things

Good

Madame

What is wrong?

Is the king...?

Yes

He had a headache again this morning

He had some medicine

but the pain was still there

He feels very bad

He is insane again

What?

Lou, I will kill you

Zhan, look at me

I am Lu Zhen

I am your wife

Liar. Zhen is dead

Look at me

I am here

Zhan, please be sober

Look at me

I am Lu Zhen

I am your wife

Lu Zhen

You know me?

Lu Zhen

Zhan, I am so scared of

your sword

Take it out

Come on, have a rest

Zhan

you are the king

be brave

You will be OK

Listen to me, have a good rest

and everything will be fine

OK?

Come on

Uncle Zhong

What is wrong with the medicine?

The doctor said that

there is Five Stone Powder

in it

It is very strong

it can cure a badly-injured man

very quickly

But it is kinda like poppy

we will be addicted to it

What?

It has took the doctors

lots of time

to find it out

No wonder the king is demanding

more of it

The medicine, if taken for long

will stimulate

his old injuries

So he

Madame of Yue

said that

the king will regret his decision

with 3 days

They are counting on

this

They must have the cure

No wonder Emperor Wen would be so generous

as to lend soldiers to the king

Keep it a secret

Listen to me

Keep it a secret

Yuan-Lu, ask the doctors

to find a cure

against Five Stone Powder

Liu-Li, keeps a close look on Jiafu Hall

Try to keep them from

getting in touch with General Wei

Yes

Wei, look

your uncle wakes up

stop crying

Zhen

Am I insane again?

No

Just talked some nonsenses

Don't cheat me

I know

my illness

I remember

most of what I did

Is there something wrong

with the medicine?

It contains Five Stone Powder which is

addictive

Wu Shi San?

Emperor Wen

is a snake

No wonder he dares to send Princess Tongchang

here

He has a triumph card

Don't worry

Wu Shi San

is not that strong

we can find a cure

if Emperor Wen

threatens us again

we will make it

public

and let the world know

that he betrayed me first

Zhen

every time I hear you

I feel better

Come here

Come here

Wei has become much bigger

My sister said

he looks like

2-months-old kid

Kiss him

He looks like my brother very much

How I wish

we could have

a child like him?

OK

If we can take good care of Wei

we can also

take good care of

our own child

No hurry

We have plenty of time

No hurry

Stop crying

No cure? Why?

I have invited

all the famous doctors in the capital to work on it

There is a kind of Chen's poison

in the Wu Shi San

If we can break it

The poison will attack

The king will be in danger

Now we can only

make some cures

to restrain the poison

The final cure is not available
