Episode 37

Officer

Now what?

They've found out

100 thousand taels were lost

I never expected

they're so quick

La-Mei

Help me go to

our bank to ask

them to prepare the money

If nothing else we could do

At least we have a backup plan

Yes

We can just sit and wait to die

I'm sure Lu Zhen

has her weakness

If we can find out her weakness

within these two days

Maybe we still have a chance

Officer

I know someone

who we still can use beside Lu Zhen

Who?

Her trusted aide

Ling-Long

Officer Shen

What can I do for you?

Let me be honest to you here

This is the deed of a big house

at the Zhuque Street

You just need to

damage those important account books

before Lu Zhen able

to send them to Ministry of Revenue

This house will be yours

This house will be yours

I said it before

I won't betray Officer Lu

How she treated you

and Dan-Niang?

Don't you understand?

If she really treats you nice

You're already a female officer now

I think you just need to set fire

our hide some of the account books quietly

our hide some of the account books quietly

And you'll live your remaining life

without any other worries

Don't worry

You won't be investigated

The worst case is

just put the blame

on Accountant Qin

If you're willing to do it

When you go out from palace next year

Queen Mother will surely

arrange a good marriage for you

For my dad's side

He has many subordinates

want to marry someone

who is clever and virtuous like you

who is clever and virtuous like you

But this will cause

Officer Lu in a big trouble

No, it won't

She is a Shanggong now

His Majesty favors her too

Even if the account is not correct

They couldn't find out is her fault too

You're helping Officer Lou actually

but not doing anything wrong

Ling-Long

Listen to me

You must plan for your future

You must plan for your future

Officer

All the account books are here

OK

Tomorrow early morning

Send them all to Ministry of Revenue

Send them all to Ministry of Revenue

We have found out the deficit of

21,000 golds caused by Shangshi Lou

These few years

she corrupted many money

This is a really good idea

It attacks the blind side of her

This is not a good idea

It just takes a little effort

Oh yes

Do you give the money

to the officers in Chamberlain Bureau?

Yes

A gold for each

You've been so busy

for these few days

There's something I want to

remind you at first

But I never expected

the order of audit

was placed so urgently

These few days I have been really busy

and I forget about it

But never mind

After few days

When the Winter Solstice comes

and you will know it

When the time comes

You'll know your effort

will be rewarded

Thanks, Officer

Officer

It's late now

You better go back to Qingjing Hall

to take a rest first

Just let me to

finish what is remaining here

Alright

I didn't sleep well for these few days

After sending the account books tomorrow

You go back to

take a good rest for few days too

The new years is coming soon anyway

Nothing much to do

Take care

Take the box to the side hall

Tonight

I want to guard myself here

Yes

It's snowing

You all go back to take a rest

Yes

Zhan

Everything is done?

I've audited all the accounts

Shangshi Lou will have

her hard time after today days

If she collapses

Empress will lose an arm too

Zhan

You can feel relieved after this

Don't talk about this first

Let's go back to Qing Jing Palace

It's cold outside

Dan-Niang cooked pheasant soup

with chafing dish

Come

I want you to carry me on your back

OK

How she treated you

and Dan-Niang?

Don't you understand?

If she really treats you nice

You're already a female officer now

You're already a female officer now

Officer Lu

What is happening?

An assassin came in

and tried to grab away those account books

Luckily Sister Ling-Long discovered it

How is she?

She wanted to protect those account books

and her left shoulder is injured by the assassin

She felt very pain and fainted

But just now doctor came to

check her condition

She is fine now

Officer Lu

Inform Sir Sizheng now

Inform Sir Sizheng now

Don't delay any second

Yes

You all divide into groups of two tonight

Take turn for every two hours

and look after these two boxes

and look after these two boxes

Yes

They're not enough

I bring two eunuchs

to help you here

Greeting, Your Highness

Ease yourself

Why you're here?

Your place is almost having someone get killed

How could I sleep?

If Lou Qing-Wei is cornered

You'll be in danger

I'm good

Everything is fine over Qingjing Hall too

Are the account books fine?

Yes

The seals I wrote are still there

The seals I wrote are still there

Did you go to Western Buddhist Temple?

Any news over there?

Nothing

That's why I'm wondering

Lou used all her efforts

to send people to steal these account books

and because of failed once

She just gives up like that

I think it is impossible

We can't bother so much

Tomorrow early morning

I'll go to Ministry of Revenue with Yuan Lu

I want to hand over

these account books to Minister Shang myself

without giving any single

chance to other person to touch it

OK

I'll go with you tomorrow

Sister

Ling-Long is awaken

I'll visit her now

You don't want wait for the news from Ministry of Revenue?

I can't wait anymore

No news even until now

I guess we have to wait until tomorrow

Let's go to visit Ling-Long

What happened?

Something wrong with the account book?

What's wrong?

I remember you said

Lou Qing-Qiang had a deficit

of at least 22,000 golds

But I went to Ministry of Revenue

to check the account book

At the last page

There's a receipt

stating she already paid

all the deficit two days ago

And there's your signature and chop on it

And there's your signature and chop on it

Impossible

I never wrote any receipt before

I never wrote any receipt before

Calm down

I know someone did something to it

I know someone did something to it

Impossible

How did she do it?

Officer

It's all my fault

I didn't look after those account books carefully

This is not your fault

It's my careless

I never expected Shangshi Lou

was trying to do such thing openly

in this palace

You're unlucky to be involved into this

Then what to do now?

Shangshi Lou, she will...

She will be fine

I sent the account book myself

I remember the deficit inside

I remember the deficit inside

It's a deficit of 20,000 golds

Have you all found out

who is the assassin yesterday night?

How does the assassin look like?

How does the assassin look like?

He covered his face with black cloth

I can't see his face

I just know he is a

thin and tall man

He is strong

I fought with him

and was beaten by him until fainted in a shod time

He was fast

I did a check

After he had beaten you until faint

He opened the bottom of the boxes

He opened the bottom of the boxes

and he added words on the account books

He put them back as before later on

So many account books

How would he know which one

is the latest one?

Then we have to ask Accountant Qin

Fired

and expelled from the palace

She is a 7th degree female officer

She is the female officer who is in charge of Statistics Division

Now someone is almost killed

If she doesn't have to responsible

Who else does?

And

During the audit

Shanggong found out

she had many misconduct before

Really?

Why you're here?

Don't worry

They go to Chamberlain Bureau to watch the fun

No one sees I'm coming here

How could you do so?

The wound is deep

Don't you worry you'll get killed?

Don't you worry

How could I not to worry about you

You're smart

You know to use this desperate measure

to cover yourself

Even Lu Zhen knows

someone was helping us

She won't suspect you either

Why you're saying this?

Officer Lou is fine now anyway

Officer Lou is fine now anyway

Right

Someone thought of

a perfect desperate measure before

And there's Accountant Qin

who will become the scapegoat afterward

She must be happy then

She wanted me to tell you

You're a capable person

If you continue working with us

She will request from Queen Mother

to promote you as a female officer

No need

I said it before

After this is dine

We're even

You're a smart person

Do you really think that

we won't deal after this?

We won't deal after this?

You

You want to regret?

Ling-Long

After stepping on this ship

You'll never go down again

There is no unventilated wall

What is done by night appears by day

What is done by night appears by day

Sister Lu

Why you're so slim?

Oh yes

I heard that

you've been auditing for these few days

and you're dying because of it

Such a clean account book

has nothing wrong in it

Don't you think what you've done is wasted?

No choice, this is my job

Not like Officer Lou

You're so lucky

You don't have to

do anything for now

but accompany Queen Mother

to pray to Buddha at Western Buddhist Temple

People wish can be so relaxing like you

but they couldn't

People say

One half-hour of a night in spring is worth a thousand taels

My relaxing times

are bought with thousands of golds

are bought with thousands of golds

Of course it is precious

Sister Lu

Carry on your works

I have to go first

Officer Lou

Wait for a second

If not mistaken

If not mistaken

I remember you're 30 years old

for this year

It's elder than me a lot

It's not good to be

called sister by you

anyway

We're all sewing in palace

If you don't mind

I would like to call you Aunt Lou

I would like to call you Aunt Lou

Aunt Lou

Good girl

Aunt Lou

Still feel sorry for those golds?

No

Don't forget our Lu's family

have nothing but money

have nothing but money

I'm just not willing

to let Shangshi Lou to escape like this

Looks like

I'm still not as good as her

in this fighting

Don't sell yourself shod

I taught you an of governance

That is the law of the gentleman

Even there's a strategy within

Even there's a strategy within

But overall it is still considered fair and square

Shangshi Lou used dirty tricks

Shangshi Lou used dirty tricks

If you are same like her

You're losing your mediocrity

But anyway

Secretary Statistics Division is still under my control

Secretary Statistics Division is still under my control

You want to exit from palace earlier?

Since I was injured last time

My condition is not as good as before

Since I'll fulfill five years

as an imperial maid

during next year's spring

Therefore I want to ask a permission from officer

to go back home earlier

This is troublesome

I thought your injury

is almost recovered?

Maybe

I was scared too much last night

I was scared too much last night

By right

I shouldn't say no to you

Because you've been

Suffering alont this

But

I always see you as my valuable assistant

I always see you as my valuable assistant

If you just quit suddenly

Don't you have Dan-Niang beside you?

Don't you have Dan-Niang beside you?

She is still young

Not as mature as you

Look at this edict first

Eight-grade secretary

You want me to become 8th degree secretary?

I've requested this edict

from His Majesty long time ago

I thought to bring Shangshi Lou down first

I thought to bring Shangshi Lou down first

and it's Winter Solstice

This is supposed to be double happiness

But I never thought everything fall apart

at the last second

That's why you let me

to investigate Statistics Division?

Yes

I thought if we could

find out the problem of the secretary

I would let you

to replace Accountant Qin

But

Ling-Long

I really hope you'll stay

I really hope you'll stay

and help me for a longer time

But, officer

If you want to put me in an important position

Why don't you let me

to take pad in the female officer's exam?

It is not easy

You have to read books

You have to take ans examination

You've been helping me

to take care of Secretary of Clothing Division

You don't have the time to prepare for the exam

If you couldn't pass it

It will be troublesome then

So why don't I just promote you directly instead

It is more convenience

for you and I

Officer

The great kindness of you is as weighty as a mountain to me

Ling-Long

Ling-Long really want to thank you

Then are you willing to stay?

Then are you willing to stay?

In the end

She was still unwilling

to take the edict

She said she rather become

an imperial maid under Statistics Division first

When the opportunity comes

and she contributes

She just becomes an officer with perfectly justifiable

Your guys are all stubborn like you

Your guys are all stubborn like you

anyway

Be careful of the Statistics Division

Be careful of the Statistics Division

I'm sure there are other minions

of Lou Qing-Qiang inside it

Because I've checked the snow

on the night

There's no any trace

So either the guy

is very good in dodging

or he has a planted agent at your place

You're right

He can wipe away

all the footprints in a shod time

I think it's more than one of them

But never mind

We lost this time

I'll win for the next round

Just let Shangshi Lou

to be happy for couple of days

So you want to stem

from the Lou's side

I really can't hide anything from you

When I was auditing

I found out other than deficits

Shangshi Lou even did many frauds

I've interrogated

the imperial maid in Statistics Division

Those money were used

to cover the cosmetic expenses of Queen Mother

to cover the cosmetic expenses of Queen Mother

Cosmetic expenses?

They are the expenses allocated

to Queen Mother and Empress

It is also called

small treasuries by others

Then how do you cover the numbers?

What else?

Of course take the money from family

Of course take the money from family

His Majesty lets us to

take 10% from the profit

of imperial kiln

These money were used

to help his mother to cover the accounts

I said

22,000 golds were used to cover it

How could you not even blink your eyes?

In the end

You'll have to pay more than this

What is this?

Tomorrow I'll go to

get royal brother to pay the debts

Before being married

The dowry money is already cut into half

Don't you feel sorry about the money

The kiln business is good

We can get back the money very fast

We can get back the money very fast

I know you're good in housekeeping

Therefore

You want to use this thing

to go to take credit from Lou

Don't you want this chance

to eliminate Queen Mother since long time ago?

But if she is hiding in Western Buddhist Temple

We can't do anything to her

Since we have a very good chance now

to approach her

I think we shouldn't let it go

Zhen

Before doing this thing

You have to discuss with me first

Your safety is the most important thing

Because Lou is too tricky

You must take extra careful

and don't make any mistake

I'm not afraid

I had a thought

Since I'm a 5th degree female officer

I can't keep defending all the time

I can't keep defending all the time

I have to attack the enemy sometimes

so that I won't be forced

to defend every time

Queen Mother Lou

had a good impression

towards me at fist

Moreover

She likes money and power

these two thing in her life

these two thing in her life

After getting money from me

She will trust me

No matter what

You must be careful

in dealing with Lou

I will

She is inside for two hours already

Queen Mother even asked

her personal imperial maids

to come out

She just wants to talk

to Officer Lu

What is she trying to do?

She is out

Lu Zhen

This bracelet is for you

Officer

Look

Queen Mother gives the Bracelet Yaoyue to her

Queen Mother gives the Bracelet Yaoyue to her

Isn't that...

Isn't that her favorite treasure?

Isn't that her favorite treasure?

I have to go

Let's go

Follow me to pay the respect to the Empress Dowager

Qing-Qiang is here to pay respect to, my empress

I knew why are you here

You are not happy

because I treat Lu Zhen so nice, right?

Aunty

As you know

I just had a fight with

her at the Statistics Division

So you want to run for your life

and abandon me?

Aunty

Look at this account

It's full of loopholes

If the Ministry of Revenue found out

that Siji is embezzling the public funds

to pay for my cosmetics

How am I going to face others?

How am I going to face others?

It's my fault

I never thought that

she found out about that

She used her personal money

to settle the mistake caused by you

That's why I must

try to fawn her

Qing-Qiang

You really disappoint me

Aunty

I'm sure that

there is a reason why she did that

She...

What about you then?

Why you didn't use

your personal money

to help me to cover the account?

I---

This time she really do me a big favor

This time she really do me a big favor

As long as I promise her

that I will make sure the safety

of her family members

and make sure that she able to

become the imperial concubine

and no other chaise can

become a threat to her

I'm willing to help her in this matter

I'm willing to help her in this matter

You should learn from her

She is able to fawn

Prince Changguang in her young age

You have been wandering

around here for years

but you still unable to

defeat a 18 years old young girl

You really embarrass us

You really embarrass us

But

No matter how clever she is

She won't be able to beat me

Once I regain my power

Once I regain my power

During that time...

I can't imagine she willing to do this

Lu Zhen willing to use her own money

to cover the account for the Queen Mother

Obviously she expects that

she can get advantage from this

Queen Mother is also muddle

She is cheated by Lu Zhen is easily

She is really getting older

We can't let this happen

We must do something

to stop Lu Zhen

Otherwise I afraid that the Queen Mother

will ask her to handle

all the cosmetic account

all the cosmetic account

Go to find Ling-Long

and try to find Lu Zhen's mistakes

and try to find Lu Zhen's mistakes

If you are not able to find her mistakes

Find a good chance

and kill her

No

I don't know what happened to Ling-Long

I don't know what happened to Ling-Long

She refused to help us

no matter how I threaten her

no matter how I threaten her

She said she will rather tell

everyone that she had

amended the account

Think of another way to get rid of Lu Zhen

Think of another way to get rid of Lu Zhen

You have been fight with her

since you are here

What is her weakness?

What is her weakness?

Don't tell me you don't know

Although she is always careful

There must be some minor mistakes

Prince Changguang

asked me to shift to another palace

asked me to shift to another palace

The imperial office

sent their staff to take a look

at every palace today

and they found out that there are problems in the three

main rooms at our palace

Especially your room

The wood on the beams had been decayed

It was collapsed while they

were trying to repair it today

Zhan

Your palace is too unadorned

When father is still around

You rejected him whenever

he suggested you to renovate your palace

Now what happen?

It is collapsed

Yuan-Lu

Renovate Zhan's palace

by following Zhaoyang Hall's standard

Don't try to save money for me

Yes

Your Majesty

Don't try to reject me again

Don't worry

Zhen helped me to earn a lot of money

The exchequer is still very ample

OK

Thank you, Your Majesty

Where should I stay tonight?

The imperial office had made the arrangement

We will stay at Jiafu Hall tonight

You just wait here

Later there will be someone come to call you

Later there will be someone come to call you

Officer

This is too...

Do you want to reconsider it again?

It's OK if you don't want to go

I can find another person to replace you

But

You really want to

miss this opportunity?

Xiuwen Hall collapsed in a minute

Xiuwen Hall is collapsed?

What happened to Prince Changguang?

He is fine

Everyone is fine

Sister Dan-Niang asked me to wait for you here

as she know that you will be worry about the prince

She informed that the prince had been shifted

to Jiafu Hall stem from tonight

Everything is fine

Really?

I want to go to visit him

Why you stop?

Jiafu Hall is different from Xiuwen Hall

It's late now

Sir

You feel embarrass?

Of course no

I'm just tired working in the kilns

I'm just tired working in the kilns

I'm not embarrass

Your Highness

Do you want to rest now?

OK

Fast

Put over there

Who are them?

Yuan-Lu is looking around at Xiuwen Hall

Both of them are the maids

that served Princess Chang

when she stayed in the palace

MY Prince

Do you need me to stay overnight here?

No need

Today is very cold

Go back to sleep

I will call you

if there is anything

Yes

It's weird

How come I feel headache again?

Zhen

Why are you here?

Help me to open the window

I feel very hot

It's very hot in this room

The weather is very cold

The window cannot be opened

Come

Drink some wine

Let's have another glass of wine

OK?

No

Unless you are willing

to have wedlock wine with me

Do you feel cold?

Why are you trembling so greatly?

Why are you trembling so greatly?

No

I'm happy

I'm happy but scared

Don't scared

You still have me

Let me help you to massage

Zhen

Zhen

Your Highness

Although this is the only

way for you to be mine

But

I will never feel regret

It's late in the morning now

The prince hasn't wake up yet?

I don't know

The prince went to sleep very early yesterday

The prince went to sleep very early yesterday

It's weird

Yesterday Officer Lu...

Or...

You go to have a look

I will go to take a look

Oh my God

Yuan-Lu

Why are you yelling in this early morning?

You are disturbing me

Your Highness

She...

Bi

Why are you here?

Officer

It's successful

Does Lu Zhen know about this?

I don't think so

Good

Make sure the Queen Mother

summon Lu Zhen today

Yes

Zhan

What happened?

I also don't know

When I wake up, I realized that...

Oh my God

Bi is trying to committed suicide

Bi

Faster get her down

Faster get her down

Bi

Let me go

Let me go

Don't do silly thing

Faster get her down

Faster get her down

What happened?

Bi

Prince Changguang

If you think that

this is my conspiracy

You can just sentence Bi to death

Bi is born in

a literary family

She won't willing to

spoil herself by doing this

Bi

You are misunderstood

MY Prince

MY Prince

I didn't mean that

Shen Bi

Mind you manners in front of His Majesty

Pay my respect to Your Majesty

Your Majesty, please uphold the justice for me

Bi

Calm down

Tell me what happened yesterday

Tell me what happened yesterday

Yesterday

Yesterday at around 8pm

I went to Jiafu Hall as usual

I went to Jiafu Hall as usual

Shen Jia-Min is my cousin

Shen Jia-Min is my cousin

The orchids outside there is her favorite flowers

After she left

As long as I'm free

I will come here to help her to water the flowers

Yesterday after I watered the flowers

I prepared to leave

But suddenly the door is opened

The prince came out

and claimed that he is very hot

He even try to grab my hand

and...

and...

Your Majesty

MY Prince

I have checked with the imperial doctor

I have checked with the imperial doctor

They found Ylang Incense which can

induce oestrus here

Who?

Who?

Who is trying to trap me?

Enough

You guys monitor Shen Bi closely

Don't let her to talk nonsense

Don't let anyone to approach her

Don't let anyone to approach her

Yes

Zhan

I need to talk to you

Bi is working for Shangshi Lou

Both of us knew about this

Both of us knew about this

Obviously this is a trap

But I don't have any evidence

My intellect tell me that

she did this with a purpose

she did this with a purpose

But

What if she is innocent?

If she is also trapped by others

What should I do?

What should you do?

As a crown prince

there is nothing wrong for you

to have sex relationship with a concubine

Brother

When I wake up

I realized that Bi is a virgin before yesterday

I realized that Bi is a virgin before yesterday

So you want to marry her?

No

I won't marry anyone

except Zhen

Good

Le me handle this for you

Don't worry

I will not let her feel wronged

But

If Zhen knew about this

I think maybe we shouldn't let her know first

Look at you

What if she knows about this?

What if she knows about this?

Zhan

Maybe you can tell her that

You stayed at Jiafu Hall

these two days

as you were not

feeling well

That's why you...

Consort

His Majesty asked someone came

to take the medicine to prevent pregnancy just now

Why he wants that medicine?

Typhoid fever?

Yes

The prince had fever since

yesterday night

The imperial doctor said that it may due to the typhoid fever

and it is contagious

The palace is sealed and

no one is allowed to go there

Even me also can't go there

What happened to him now?

He is alright

Yu-Ming said he just having a little bit fever

According to the imperial doctor

He will recover once the fever is reduced

What if the fever isn't reduced?

No

He vomited blood few days ago

I must go to have a look

No, he will be fine

We have best medicine to treat typhoid fever

Although it is quite troublesome

But it is very effective

I know you really care about the prince

But now you really

cannot go inside

Huan-Yun

Don't get misunderstanding

I'm not the one

that use that medicine

Of course

Your Majesty are a man

If not because of had sex a concubine

Your Majesty won't send people

to Hanguang Hall to take

the contraceptives in the early morning

Don't you tell me that

Yuan-Fu took it

to cook and drink himself

No

Actually he is...

What happened actually?

I can tell you

But you must promise me

not to get mad

after hearing it

Ridiculous

This is ridiculous

How could you all soft heard

in this matter?

But Zhan said

you all are men

You all never know

the rivalry in this harem

the rivalry in this harem

Bi must be purposely

seducing him on yesterday night

And then purposely

show weakness on today morning

Try to think

Now the weather is cold

Why she needed to water the orchid

And

If she was really

forced by Zhan

If she shouts

Anyone would hear it

Right?

Moreover

If she really wants to commit suicide

She could probably do it

after what happened last night

Why she has to wait

until today morning to do it?

I think

There's only one reason behind this

She did it purposely

to show to you all

A woman like her

should be sentenced to death immediately

Don't mention she is a 8th grade female officer

Even if a concubine from harem

seduces crown prince

It is an unforgivable capital offense

Oh yes

Ya n

Is this incident spreaded out already?

Is this incident spreaded out already?

Don't worry

I've ordered people

to close Jiafu Hall

and no one can go inside

You must send people to go and check

anyone slipped through the net

And

Send people to Western Buddhist Temple now

to ensure Lou Qing-Wei and others

won't receive any news about this

why?

Don't you understand?

Bi dares to do so

is because she is ordered

by her master, Lou Qing-Wei

Lou Qing-Wei knows

if only an ordinary imperial maid

if only an ordinary imperial maid

I would probably

chop down her head immediately

That's why she gets

a female officer instead

to make things worse

They could only get benefits

by doing this way

I remember the father of Bi

is currently a 4th degree officer

With this background

She could probably

become the princess of crown prince

Right

Yuan-Fu

Come in

It's been a long time

that I never show up in harem

During this Winter Solstice

No matter what, I should go back to Renshou Hall

to receive pilgrimage

Lu Zhen

Lu Zhen

Aunty

Aunty

Bad news

Bad news

why?

Why you're so panic?

This is rude

I'm begging you

to save Bi

Currently

I just have

La-Mei and her beside me

Officer Lu is here too

Tell me clearly

What happened to her?

Yesterday night, Bi went to Jiafu Hall

and never came back for the whole night

Until today morning

Hu-Po who followed her yesterday night

came to look for me

and said she saw

Prince Changguang pulled Bi into his room

Prince Changguang pulled Bi into his room

And then...

Really?

Yes

Hu-Po was scared

Because it was His Highness

She doesn't dare to tell anyone

That's why yesterday night

She hid at the corner

and squatted for the whole night

Until today morning

She just dared to go inside

In the end

Prince Changguang woke up

and said something

Bi lost her mind

and hanged herself

Hu-Po was so afraid

That's why she came

to inform me on today's morning

Queen Mother

What should we do now?

Even if Bi was...

It was not her fault too
