Of all the people to bail Hayley out of jail
for literally trying to kill Bill,
why in the world does it have to be my mama?
After the way I helped you,
we're friends forever now, girlie.
Vanessa's in the emergency room.
NICOLE: What? Why?
I thought Joey was protecting you.
He is.
You could have been killed.
I'm not taking a plea deal.
-And why is that? -I know
what Martin did on that dark, dreary road.
That little con has the fate of our family in her hands.
MARTIN: Jacob is great at his job.
We just have to be patient.
In my experience,
patience is a very bad strategy.
Don't tell me you're doomscrolling again.
I just...
I can't get my mind off of the Lia situation.
Have you heard anything else from Shonda or Kendra?
Yeah.
They're working to convince the Coleman campaign

What?
That the reason I get so angry
is because I'm terrified to lose you.
I know that Dad and I had our thing, but so do we.
You're fierce
and inspiring.
And I want us to hang out and get brunch
and sell houses together until you're 100.
Oh, baby.
Mom won't be working when she's 100.
What I meant was
is that if something happens to you,
Donnell and I would be utterly alone.
Sweetheart, nothing is going to happen to me.
But that's a promise that you can't make.
'Cause as long as you're with Joey Armstrong...
I'm begging you, Mom.
Please.
Leave him.
Please. I don't want to lose you, too.
Hey.
Are we okay?
I'm getting there, Dani.
I love you.
I love you more.
Excuse me.
Have you seen Deanna?
I wanted to finish our conversation.
Yeah, I-I spoke to her.
And she went to find Vanessa to make things right.
I couldn't get her to open up,
but you did.
Maybe I should have walked the runways of Paris
while you studied psychiatry.
Ah, you as a model? I know you would have given Beverly
and Cindy and Tyra a run for their money.
Party bus is here.
Let's round everyone up.
Okay, I will get everybody in this room.
All right, I'll get the grands.
If I didn't know any better...
You'd think they were together?
You see it too, right?
-You're stupid. -I know.
I'm serious, though.
You really don't think Darlene would leave you for this,
-do you? -My wife is a principled woman.
She won't take it lightly, that's for sure.
Okay, let's, uh...
let's all just calm down
and trust that we will get ahead of this like we always do.
Anita's right.
Joey and Bill are figuring out
how to handle this problem even as we speak.
Which problem is that?
Bill.
How about you take a walk.
Let me have a talk with my employee.
Don't buy into the suit and the rep.
I'll show you who I am real quick.
You remember
I told you that if you allowed this mess
to come to my front door,
we'd have an issue.
Joey, I swear, I don't know anything about a con.
And if Hayley put my name in--
The former Mrs. Hamilton
isn't just threatening Mr. Hamilton.
She's threatening me.
And you know how I deal with threats, don't you?
I do.
Well, your partner, your lover, whatever the hell she is...
...Hayley Hamilton is a dead woman walking.
Leslie Thomas has gone to the HOA demanding
construction resume on her shouse.
She's using her clinic as a badge of honor.
And since Joey's a partner,
she's asked him to write her a supporting statement.
That woman.
I'll talk to Dana and rein her in.
Do I even want to know what Leslie has done now?
I can issue a restraining order and finally give you some peace.
Restraining order on who?
Enough. Everyone, let's move out.
I'm sure the bus will be here any moment.
It's here, Granddad. That's what I was coming to tell you.
ANITA: Oh, fantastic. Let's go.
That was quick thinking, baby.
Yes, well, it's only going to get us so far.
And I know we talked about filling Nicole in tomorrow.
And Martin after the election.
But maybe we should do it sooner
so they can be prepared for worst-case scenario.
Well, tomorrow's soon enough to tell Nicole.
But as for Martin, uh...
But what would we do if Bill is too distracted
and Joey too damn ruthless?
Then I'll take it on myself
and neutralize the threat.
Nobody's gonna hurt my family.
Are you with me, my love?
Now and forever.
