Original subtitles

I'm not going home.

Let the games begin.

They've proven they're the best...

Yeah!

...of Naked and Afraid.

With my bare hands.

Now, the toughest survival competition

on the planet is back... Ah, yes!

...and more cutthroat than ever... No.

This time you either have the skills or you don't.

...to put 14 elite survivalists to the ultimate test

in an all-out battle of skill

for 45 days in Africa's Munzwa Valley

to crown the best of the best... -Yes! -Ah.

...and win $100,000.

This is what I live for! Yeah!

Failure means elimination.

This challenge will weed out the weak.

Who will rise?

This is $100,000 on the line.

Who will fall?

Ugh!

Makes me feel like such an outcast.

-This is the best of the best. ...With only one winner.

And who will be the last one standing?

I came here to win!

Previously on Last One Standing...

We're all up for elimination if we don't finish this.

Eleven survivalists raced to fill trees

in a primitive axe competition.

This thing, I think, is unbreakable.

I can put two hands here,

and I can just put my body into it.

Finishing first won Dan, Trish and Fernando...-

...a coveted modern axe.

-Yes! ...Oh, my God, we did it!

But after placing last,

Gary, Dani and Lindsey faced elimination.

Good morning, guys.

Jeff soon made a risky play for a bow.

I am willing to take your spot

in today's elimination challenge

in exchange for a bow.

The bows are not mine. They're ours.

So, they stay with whoever stays.

The three camp mates faced off in a fiery tripod challenge...

-Ugh. -Oh.

...ultimately leading to Lindsey's elimination.

Whoever goes home, I promise you,

my offer is gonna haunt their nightmares forever.

So, Dani and I are out foraging for stuff to eat,

and we wanna get baobab leaves.

And that right there is a baobab tree.

And I wanna try to get up there and climb it so we can eat.

I'm feeling ecstatic that I have made it this far.

It has not been easy at all.

And now, it's a lot tougher, just the two of us.

But I'm extremely grateful for Gary out here

with all of his experience.

Awesome, Gary.

Lindsey's gone.

She's missed, but there's a side of it

that's, like, business too.

It is a competition.

And I'm one person closer to be the last one standing.

We got two bows right now, but Dani's a vegetarian,

so it's ineffective in Dani's hands.

And we need to eat.

Mmm.

Oh, God.

Whoa!

Holy crap.

-You see that? -Oh. Gary.

The things I do for food.-

-You were giving me anxiety. ...Holy moly.

I could've killed myself.

I can't complain

because it is nutrients going into my body,

it is calories.

But leaves, that's not gonna make me strong

going through another 30 plus days out here.

How is it?

Yeah, I like it.

Let's see if we can have dinner tonight.

Yesterday left a bad taste in my mouth.

Should we go and give it back?

We'll just say, "We've got some fish today."

No, you don't have to tell them anything.

Oh, we've gotta take those fish back.

You receive a gift and give it back.

I don't get that.

I needed those fish.

I would've eaten all of 'em,

but the camp voted otherwise, so I went along with it.

So, the whole idea is to get into deeper water,

set the bait.

When I was in Africa last time when I did my XLs,

I always said, it's not a sprint, it's a marathon.

But in a challenge like this,

you race to the finish line trying to beat each other,

which changes things.

I'm tired, very hungry and low on energy.

So, my purpose today is to catch a fish.

All right, fish time.

Luckily, we have this net,

so getting a whole bunch of protein ain't that hard.

It's just like scooping fish

in a bucket in this pond at this point.

And it amazes me to think that

we're the only camp out here with a net right now

and everybody else has these same materials.

Been eating better than any camp out here.

We're doing good.

Yeah, let's get out of here before anybody sees us.

All right, let's go.

We gotta look weak.

Trish and Fernando and I, we've had a good thing going.

We've been winning left and right,

we've been communicating well.

How does it taste?

Not bad.

We worked so hard as a team for the pulaski,

we worked so hard as a team for that bow and arrow set.

But you know, we have a long way to go.

We know we have so many more obstacles ahead of us.

But for right now, in the current moment,

we all feel we really can't be doing any better.

Baboon.

You know, we've pushed those baboons out of their home,

and I'm pretty sure they're not very happy about that.

Yeah, they're running down.

That's scary.

Ooh, they are real close.

Oh, my gosh.

Today is day 259 in my Naked and Afraid career.

The most all time.

And how many days have I had a bow in my hands?

Zero.

So, Dani has a bow that she's not gonna use,

and I'm here eating a salad bar.

We're here, sitting on the bench.

There's just not much we can do.

Maybe the time will come when they realize,

"Oh, I'm actually not a bow hunter.

Maybe I wanna trade this."

You know?

We have nothing to trade for.

Like, we're just kinda, like, stuck.

We're stuck in, like, limbo.

-Yeah. ...We can't trade anything,

we can't share anything.

Did you guys notice there's a new scroll

in our skull today?

We have some mail.

What do we got next, huh?

My blood's flowing.

-Oh! -Migration.

In two days, the survivalists will migrate

with all of their survival tools and cached items

to zone two.

Deep in leopard and rhino territory,

the destination is a fertile hunting ground

straddling a massive lake

teeming with catfish and man-eating crocodiles.

To get to zone two,

competitors must hike more than five miles

fully exposed to the punishing African sun.

We have so much stuff and it's gonna be hot and heavy.

There's no shade and it's an incline,

so it could be a difficult migration.

We don't have a lot of energy left in the next few days.

We have to try and hunt

and get some more calories in for this massive hike.

I'm feeling pretty good about a migration.

Although, I don't know if there's gonna be some kind of shakeup.

I can't control what the universe throws at me.

I just adapt and overcome.

Who knows what awaits us?

But, uh, I think this is gonna start to create a wedge

in between some of the camps out here.

And that gives me an advantage.

All right.

Time to head out and see if we can get something bigger than a catfish.

Yep.

At this point in the challenge,

I don't think we've got 3000 calories in.

So, right now, the number one priority is food.

It's a good day to build a blind and go for a hunt.

I will, uh, do the housekeeping.

-All right. -We'll see you a bit later.

See you.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Unfortunately,

all of the animals here are predated on constantly,

So, they have extremely incredible sense of sight,

and smell and sound.

He can smell me.

He just doesn't know where the smell's coming from.

Look at him sniffing the air.

All of these things make them a pretty hard beast to kill.

He's gonna be on alert.

He's not relaxed anymore.

See, he's gone.

Hopefully one comes straight down this path right here,

and we can get a good arrow in it for dinner.

There's a couple of warthogs.

Unfortunately, most of them are just out of bow range for me.

But quite soon a warthog settles into the mud within about 10 meters.

It feels really good.

Hunting out here with primitive archery equipment

is not an easy task.

We almost had bacon for dinner.

But it's one of our best options for a big protein score,

and we're gonna keep at it.

You wanna take a walk to the lake?

Um, I'm gonna go with the bow.

-You can bring the bow. ...I know.

But doesn't make sense to go as a group.

Um...

My plan was to do some target practice and then go.

Subtle things about Dan that I've been noticing,

if I say black, he says white.

He just wants to dominate everything.

If you're gonna go out there, Trish,

maybe I'll let you go out

and I'll go scout around somewhere else.

So far, that worked to my advantage,

because that's been keeping us in the winning circle,

keeping us going.

But this is Last One Standing.

Eventually, we're gonna split up.

And I'm a little concerned at the way the items might be divided

and who's gonna dig their heels in to take what.

I'm doing a little bow practice to, uh, hone in my skills

with just two fingers rather than three,

since I got this giant cut on the third.

Yes! Oh, my God, we're first!

I grabbed the pulaski in a really fast way.

Minor injury.

It's still a little rusty.

There's definitely some honing in that needs to be done.

But, um, I'm a competitive person.

I worked my ass off to get to the point that I was

at the end of the previous Last One Standing.

And I'll do the same out here.

So, I think my bow hunting abilities

are gonna be crucial moving forward.

That's better.

Exactly. Exactly.

Yeah.

Holy. Look at that baboon.

He could jump down in here, feel cornered and,

you know, cause a ruckus.

Reaching upwards of 80 pounds

and sporting razor sharp canines,

African baboons are fiercely territorial.

Typically 50 members strong,

troops have been known to exceed 250.

With strength in numbers,

these powerful primates use their jaws and claws to defend their turf.

If he drops down into our boma.

That could mean some, some trouble for Jeff and I.

Oh. Holy, he's right above us.

And the baboons are, they're taking over their tree.

Tonight, Patrick and I are gonna have to sleep with one eye open

because we are not sleeping next to baboons,

which are one of the more dangerous primates.

They don't like us here.

Hey! This is my crew!

Last night, it was unreal.

I mean, they're only gonna get more and more brave

as the nights go on.

Luckily, there's a migration tomorrow.

Because, honestly, this troupe of baboons,

I feel like they're getting a little bit too comfortable.

Yeah.

With tomorrow's migration,

today, I decide to go foraging

because I'm gonna have to really focus on

making sure I have energy and food

before I leave for this new location.

I've been keeping my eye on these,

but unfortunately they are not ripe.

-Dani. -Yeah.

Come here.

Mopane bees, right up at the end of that.

Yeah, I see, like, the little swarm.

Yeah, and there's, like, I see 'em going in and out.

So, that means there's, there's something in there.

You can see that the...

-There's like, a white, waxy, drippy part. ...Drippy.

So, me and Dani are now seeing if we get some mopane honey

that... I think you can only get in Africa.

And we're hoping that nobody else walks over here,

because we don't think we wanna share.

But we're also not sure how much could be in here.

There's not much we got.

We, we definitely ain't sharin'.

If we were able to get honey,

that is like vegetarian gold for me.

That would provide, like, the most sufficient,

highest amount of calorie.

Found only in Africa,

the mopane bee is a stingless net-like insect,

capable of producing a concentrated pollen honey.

Rich in sugars,

a single teaspoon contains 45 calories.

When it comes to these Naked and Afraid challenges,

I'm definitely the bee man and the honey man.

I got bees all around me.

I'm in my happy place.

Oh, my God.

That's, like, the coolest thing I've ever seen.

What the hell?

I got a reputation to keep up, you know?

Mmm-hmm?

I'm gonna climb the tree and get it.

This is just how I roll.

This is what I am.

It's what I do.

You got this, Gary.

You just have to be extremely careful.

Right.

So, grab both of 'em, Dani,

and walk away so it won't fall on you a little bit.

Good job, Dani.

I like your style.

To find honey feels amazing.

And for me, Dani hit just at the right time.

It's, uh, exactly what we needed before migration.

Welcome home, honey.-

We're going for a hunt today.

I'm thinking Pulaski, Dan, and a fire starter.

This is just in case?

-What else? -Yeah.

It's not a bad idea to be prepared.

So bring the bows.

We'll take just a few broadheads out.

We don't need the whole quiver rattling around.

Migration's coming up soon.

-Right, wish us luck. -Good luck, guys.

We don't really know what's ahead,

but we do know this is a long way away on the map.

And every calorie matters.

So, getting a big impala, that'd be a game changer.

Thank you.

-That's a long bow. -You can't make it too tight in there.

Very long in here.

The bow really, really means a lot to me in this competition.

It might be irrational, you know?

If we're forced to shuffle camps,

We're likely gonna have to split up our items,

which could be tough.

But I'm pretty skilled with the bow,

so I really want the bow and arrow set.

It would really mean a lot to me to be able to, uh,

utilize that and take something down.

It caught me on my draw.

We really just hit, like, a pot of gold.

Oh, my God.

We're honey rich.

This honey really is a vegetarians dream come true out here.

It's going to give me the energy

that my body is literally craving right now.

That's their larva right there.

Oh, my God!

Gary.

I was so... Your eyes just like, lit up.

They taste like sweet tar candy.

What I get from eating the larva

that Dani does not get is straight up protein.

-It's just so good. -Dani.

I guess this feels like this is real life right now.

Dani and I have become close out here,

kind of like beauty and the beast.

And I'm the beautiful one.

Pretty low in energy.

My team is not as weak as I am, but...

they're not in tip-top shape either.

We need every single ounce of energy we can

for the migration journey.

But hunting is difficult in... in Africa,

and hopefully Darrin and Ky get some food.

Oh.

We didn't have any luck yesterday,

but Darrin and I gained knowledge

of how these animals move, what scares them.

Bow hunting is about the stock and the wait

and the knowing your prey.

And the patience to do it.

Oh, man.

We didn't get anything today.

We got very close. But, uh...

these animals are flighty.

Like, we need to learn where they're gonna go

when they hear the twang of the string.

I mean, we're missing by inches at the moment

and another inch in a different direction, we would have had dinner.

How are you guys?

Wow, we're empty-handed.

I'm concerned about this migration journey

because we are depleting quite fast.

It will be another very hungry night.

Right now, I'm just trying to check out some new areas.

I walk for hours every day,

and people think I'm crazy for it

because of the calories I'm burning.

But, as an athlete, I'm backpacking 40 miles a day.

So I'm used to operating in a calorie deficit.

Oh. Look at this right here.

There's some tiny little bees,

and some wax.

Mopane flies make honey. So...

we could maybe open this up.

But I think we would need...

like, an axe.

Maybe if I tell the other groups...

Especially Dan's team, because they got the axe

and we're gonna need that to get it open.

I'm on my way to the other camps to let everyone know the news,

and recruiting people to come and help take down this tree.

I found a mopane fly, uh, hive.

The axe would come in super handy.

Yeah?

We're happy to chip in and help out.

-Oh, yeah. -Dude, that's awesome.

-Absolutely. -All right.

-Let's go. Let's do it. -Nice.

If we do switch teams and we end up getting shuffled around,

this could be huge for me.

Making more goodwill towards others is, uh,

gonna make people trust me more.

Hey, Jeff.

What's up, guys?

-The train's here. -Do you want to head over to Gary's?

- All right. Yeah. Let's... Let's go for it. - Hell, yeah.

-Come on down. -Hunting day, huh?

Yeah, let's go, uh, surprise Gary,

'cause I haven't let him know yet.

-Oh, shoot. ...It's probably gonna be a trip

seeing, uh, a big gang of people with axes coming to his camp.

Yeah. See, there's a bunch of them.

Still flying around.

-I have a feeling it might go deeper in. Yeah. -Yeah.

-There could be a lot more chambers up there... Yeah.

So, I could just... Loop the rope and pull it.

Maybe it will fall right down, like yesterday.

Knowing that we are migrating tomorrow,

the plan for the rest of the day

is to eat as much honey as we possibly can.

That is definitely gonna give us an energy boost or morale boost

for this long day that we know we have ahead of us.

I hear people.

I actually believe that.

Hey, Gary.

Uh-oh. Here they come.

I hope you cleaned up for some guests.

-What's happening? ...We got a whole tribe here.

So we're not raiding the village.

We, uh, actually have good news.

What's that?

I found a mopane fly hive.

-Really? -Yeah.

I feel like if we divide it evenly between the four teams,

we all work together.

-Cool. -Yeah?

Into that?

- Obviously -Not far away.

It's actually, like, right around the corner.

Ten of us splitting a mopane beehive?

-Like, yeah. -Let's go get a teaspoon of honey.

I wonder what mopane honey tastes like.

We're about to find out.

We've never had it before.

Dani and I, so far as, uh, camp mates, have been like,

the mischievous ones.

We're the little devils out here.

We're down.

-Yeah. You wanna go check it out? -Sure.

It's actually, like, right around the corner here.

-I, personally, have never had it before. ...Surprised you didn't see it.

You could've had that whole thing to yourself.

-Damn. You mean I could've had a whole dang mopane hive? -Yep.

-Uh-huh. -Slacking, guy.

-Darn. -Now you gotta share it.

Slipping up, buddy.

-Oh, man, I'm... ...Gary would've shared it with us anyways.

Yeah, I would share mopane hive.

Oh, yeah, we're having fun with this.

All right, let's do it.

So this is it right here, guys,

Uh, you got two little tunnels into here.

One over here.

And my thoughts was this actually looks hollow here.

-We might be able to use these axes. Yeah. -Was gonna say.

It's incredibly hard wood, but you can see through it right there.

If we knock that off, we might be able to reach into the whole damn thing.

Yeah.

We're going to divide this equally among people?

Yeah. I say we divide it equally among people.

Yep.

-Nice. -Oh, good.

That's very good.

Ooh.

-Okay. -That's larva.

Larva in there.

And pollen.

That looks good.

Look at that.

-Wow. -Does it taste good?

-Oh, look at that. -Whoa!

It doesn't taste like honey, but...

-Mm. -Everybody have some of that.

Yeah. It tastes like pollen.

Man, just the mental reward

of having some pure sugar is...

such an amazing relief from the monotony of eating nothing.

Ooh, that's good.

Honey comes in very handy

for tomorrow's migration journey

because it's a long, treacherous journey.

Whoa! Look at that.

-Yeah. ...The first honey score of the challenge.

I was willing to share

the one resource that I could get with everybody.

So I think it's gonna look good for me

when everyone reflects on this day.

So now we need to divide this how many ways?

-Ten. -Ten ways.

This is ridiculous.

As everybody is digging through the mopane,

I've noticed a couple little extra finger licks.

Mostly Dan and, um... It doesn't surprise me.

Mm.

Makes me worry a little bit

for when we have to divide these items.

You guys want to come grab a fistful of this?

Sometimes Dan gets a bit sticky fingers when there's food involved.

Dan puts his portions to the side

and then comes and eats other peoples'.

Dan is sticky fingers deep in this honey hive right now.

He's trying to hide this treachery in plain sight.

But it ain't working.

We all have two eyes that are functioning just fine.

Well, we are still digging into our honey.

I don't want to say it too loud

'cause nobody else knows we have honey.

And we're gonna scoop right in there.

Wow.

-It's like candy. -It's like gum 'cause it's chewy and sweet.

Mm-hmm.

Mm.

My hands are so sticky.

Delicioso.

The baboon's moving closer.

-See them moving across the top there? ...Mm-hmm.

Here they come, bro.

Here they come.

The baboons have finally had enough.

Now, we initially pushed them out of this area when they moved in,

and they are now taking it back.

We have about 20 to maybe as many as 30 baboons

coming in the tree canopy right above our shelter right now.

Adults, babies, the whole damn clan.

And they've decided that enough is enough.

They're taking back their trees.

And there's so many of them.

Look at them climbing that tree.

The baboons are right above us now.

Directly above us. Right above us.

I'm afraid to look up.

-Oh, ! -He's looking at me.

Oh, man. I think that was crap.

I just got wetness, too.

Think the big one above you.

Oh, !- No!

! Dude!

Oh, there's... They're pissing on...

Oh, God! I've got on my hair!

I got on my hair!

-Oh, God. -Look at the on my hair, bro!

Bro!

Oh!

! Dude!

-Oh, God. -Look at the on my hair, bro!

Dude!

Dude, I've got so much baboon piss on me right now.

-Dude, you reek of baboon piss. ...Dude!

He pissed all over me, dude.

I'm covered in baboon piss.

It's all in my hair.

I think my hair, dude, is like,

dripping with baboon piss right now.- I see it.

No, it's not funny here.

God, dude, I don't even know if I can sleep.

I stink so bad.

It's like, dripping out of your hair.

Oh, !

They're taking the there, too.

Looks like little seeds and stuff.

Pick it out, bro.

Let me see.

Oh, my God. No, I can't.

-It's like... -Yes, you can.

Dude, it's like, it's embedded.

Dude, in your curls.

-You're my partner. This is... -This is what you do.

Like you can see the little seeds from the baboon.

Like, picking it out right now.

Oh, yeah.

Dude, no.

This ain't right.

Oh, man. It's like, everywhere.

God, it stinks.

We're getting pissed and all over

by my sleep spot, but I haven't set up yet.

I can't even, like, I'm holding my breath right now

'cause I can't even smell myself.

Oh, yeah, it's bad.

Baboons have fangs bigger than lions.

Yeah.

Get the out of my tree!

Pissing on me and!

Come down here!

This is a very serious situation.

Baboons kill human beings when they feel threatened.

And we're locked in the boma.

Jeff's call prompts the Safety Rangers

to immediately assess the situation.

Straight up here. There's a couple of them here.

There's at least 50 of them there.

I'll pay you $5,000 to borrow that rifle.

Shut up! Oye!

We are both covered in baboon piss.

And I got piss leaking on my face.

I've got in my hair.

Um, our sleeping areas are totally destroyed

and that baboons will not leave

the canopy up here. And, uh,

they've been known to seriously injure,

if not kill people.

So unfortunately, uh, the safety team has advised that

we need to go over to Gary and Dani's camp

and that we're gonna have to spend the night over there,

uh, tonight, in order to be safe.

For their own safety,

survivalists are prohibited from leaving their bomas after dark.

The safety team must escort Jeff and Patrick.

Yeah.

At the Ranger's request, Gary and Dani agree

to let Jeff and Patrick share their boma for the night.

Okay. Um...

Hi, neighbors.

So, they were baboons?

-Yes. ...There were like, 50 of them.

Yeah, it's 50 of them.

Yeah.

We really appreciate you guys, you know,

letting us crash here last night.

- Of course. - Sure. Yeah. I mean... Yeah.

-Sorry you guys had to go through that. -It's like...

We're gonna head down to our camp and...

pick through the and,

you know, I guess we'll see you at migration, huh?

-Yeah. Okay. -See you there.

Well, that was unexpected.

Yeah, but... we gotta eat.

- Yeah - And we gotta eat fast.

I can't believe they didn't notice

all of this honey sitting here.

-Still tastes just as good. -Yeah.

-Watch your step. -There's everywhere.

Oh, yeah.

I don't know what smells worse.

The ground or your hair.

Dude, don't even...- Oh, my gosh. Look.

Everything's covered in, dude.

No.

-Dude, all the leaves... -All the food.

...all my food I collected to take with me.

None of this is usable, man.

-It's all covered in. -Yeah.

I hardly recognize this boma anymore.

I mean, it is plastered with baboon.

This is my trophy after having him on me.

I'm gonna do the same thing.

On these migrations, anything can happen.

But honestly, everything

and anything has happened to Jeff and I in this challenge.

We're prepared for anything.

-All right. -It looks out to me.

See you, baboon hell.

Baboons can go themselves.

That cordage, that cordage, that cordage.

Okay. Rope.

Today, it's all about strategy here.

What are we going to need moving forward?

And also, with a massive hike,

I don't have the energy to be carrying anything

that I don't end up using.

We should all very much hydrate.

Yeah. That's important.

I'm tired.

Very dehydrated.

And low on energy.

-All right. -Well, should we leave this little place?

Get on the way before it gets too hot.

All right.- Today, nothing good will happen.

It'll be a long journey.

We will dehydrate further.

Our bodies will deplete further.

All right. Today's the big day.

-Let's pack all our stuff. -Oh.

All of our stuff has to go.

We've been a team for the last 15 days.

So what happens to all of our items?

This gets really complicated

because many of these we've earned as a team

and they have different values.

Fishing gear's here.

You want to carry the net?

Uh, I can carry the net and the bow.

I'll carry the axe.

There has been some moments

of tension between Trish and Dan.

The bow and arrow is the biggest source of conflict.

That's like, the Holy Grail.

So, Dan, you're carrying everything?

I don't mind.

Just like I predicted.

Dan wants to carry every single thing out here

and just have possession of everything.

Balances out my bag almost, to be honest.

There's 100 grand on the line and I want it.

So if we're split up,

for is going to fly when we have to divide these items.

All right, off we go.

Well, we've got a long journey ahead of us, huh?

For sure.

It's already hot.

Yeah, it is.

For safety, camps must travel to Zone 2 together,

mitigating the risk of run-ins with volatile predators

on the treacherous five-mile journey ahead,

where temperatures are forecast to reach 100 degrees.

And 1,500 feet of elevation must be scaled

through known leopard hunting grounds.

Yeah.

All I'm concentrated on is where my foot's gonna go.

-I'm, uh, drained. -Yeah.

It's the dehydration getting to me.

It's stinking hot and the sun's beating down.

The sun alone could take any of us down at any stage.

God, where does it end?

I love seeing the elephant footprints.

They're so huge.

We've been walking forever in the excruciating heat,

battling the sun, and we're exhausted.

Oh, it looks so different now.

Oh, check that out!

That must be where we're going.

Look at that.

Oh, look at that scroll.

To see a scroll means things are changing.

We could get shuffled into different groups.

We could face an elimination.

It's nerve-racking.

We're like, we're freaking out.

-You ready for this? -Hell, yeah.

I know that when some people see the scroll up there,

they probably get terrified.

They're like, "Another challenge, another competition."

But I love this. I'm excited to see what's next.

Let's see what it says.

Okay, here we go, brother.

The anticipation build is crazy,

and just ready to find out

what is in store for us today,

what does our future hold.

"Your camps are now disbanded."

Oh, no! I'm gonna miss you guys.

Wow

I freaking knew it.

I knew it. I knew it.

Well...

"In this challenge, you will compete as individuals."

All right.

"You must build a four-pronged fire-hardened spear,

extract a catfish from the water and pierce it."

Ooh!

For the first phase of this challenge,

the survivalists must find materials to bushcraft

a sharpened four-pronged spear,

which is a critical catfishing tool.

After constructing their spear,

each competitor will move on to phase two...

where they will need to make a fire

and harden their prongs over the flames.

Finally, the survivalists will advance

to a series of water holes for phase three,

where they must extract a catfish through a process called noodling...

Go up, go up, go up, go up!

...before spearing it, to ensure it can't wiggle away.

Oh!

That's a lot.

But these challenges are getting more intense,

multilayered, more dynamic.

This is a big one. This is gonna start separating

who's gonna be the last one standing and who's not.

"The last survivalist to spear that catfish will be eliminated."

-Damn! -Wow! Someone's gone home.

-Whoa! -Whoo!

The pressure is on.

So, I think it's time the rookie becomes a legend slayer.

I like the sound of that.

Having to craft a fire-hardened spear,

it's something I've done before,

but now I have to race a bunch of other talented survivalists.

So it's anyone's challenge.

This is gonna be rough.

I'm extremely dehydrated, so it's gonna be hard.

But this is the Last One Standing.

You have to fight for your survival.

You have to fight for your challenge.

-If not, you're done. -You're going home.

"But first, surrender all camp items."

-Wow. -Damn.

-Huh? -Ooh-hoo!

"You must continue to earn your use of these assets."

-Wow. -Ooh!

-Damn! -That sucks.

-We gotta give our bows up? -Huh.

That's a game-changer.

The survivalists surrender the items earned from past competitions

or found in previous caches.

After crafting a fire-hardened spear

and using it to pierce a catfish...

each survivalist will select just one of these assets.

Their order of finish in the competition

determines when they get to select

their tool of choice.

-Whoo! -Wow.

-Oh. -Yep.

So we lose everything?

Yep.

Dan wanted to carry every single thing out here.

It's all here up for grabs.

So kind of ironic.

I mean, I bled for that bow.

I bled for the Pulaski,

and, um, now I'm gonna have to re-earn 'em all.

I'm incredibly happy with this.

I've been trying to get my hands on a bow

for my entire Naked and Afraid career.

I'd been waiting for this for 10 years!

And now is my opportunity.

All I have to do is perform.

"Your challenge starts now."

Ooh! Oh.

Starting the challenge,

I'm looking everywhere for the best firewood,

the best tinder, the best kindling.

I also need to source a really good stick to make a spear.

It is always chaos

in the first few seconds of these challenges,

people are going every which direction.

Got my spear picked out.

I immediately spot a good branch

and start to construct my four-pronged spear.

I am so focused at my task

because I just don't wanna go home yet.

After the survivalists select a quality branch,

the next step is to split the ends,

creating four points or prongs.

They must then insert wedge sticks into the cuts

and wrap cordage around the spear shaft

to secure these wedge sticks in place.

Then they will sharpen the prongs

for maximum effectiveness.

I'm so confident for this challenge,

like, building a four-pronged spear,

and I'm like, "I've been making four-pronged fishing spears

since I was a kid." Like, that's so easy.

And that was just something I did for fun.

The order you finish this, determines the order

with which you get to pick your items at the end,

and I want something that's gonna propel me forward in this competition.

I need to be on top of my game.

This is the challenge I've been waiting for,

and I'm gonna get a bow by finishing

in the top four of this challenge because there's four bows.

And here we go again for the second time.

Early on in this challenge, I built a four-pronged spear.

Number 13.

Lucky number 13, baby. Yes!

I know I've got this.

The question is, can I build it fast enough?

Game on.

I'm trying to take my time, I don't wanna cut myself.

But I don't wanna take too much time.

It's gonna be super important for me

to come in between first and fourth

so that I can get that hunting asset.

I haven't won a bow, fishing gear, nothing.

So top four is what I need.

So, I've got my spear.

I need a baton now, whether it's a rock or a thick stick.

My strategy is to finish most of this spear

before going out into the searing hot sun

that's gonna sap all of my energy.

A spear is something I've never had to do before,

and that makes me concerned.

I don't wanna get eliminated, and that's terrifying.

So, I got my piece of wood, I'm trying to split it,

and it's a piece of hard deadwood,

and it starts splintering and falling apart.

Damn it.

I picked the wrong piece of wood.

Oh, man! I gotta find a different one.

As Gary, Trish, Dani and Bulent struggle to secure viable materials,

the other competitors have moved on

to the next steps in this challenge.

I get the tree branch I want.

It's a nice, green mopane branch.

I set the center of the stick on my knife blade

and whack down on the anvil.

There's my first split.

Turn the spear, whack onto that anvil.

There's my second split.

I got a split already.

Getting it sharpened.

I'm telling myself, "I'm not going home today.

I'm not going home today."

This is where I have to use all my brainpower.

This is not second nature to me.

I'm not like this bushcraft survival expert guy.

So, I'm kind of going through the steps in my head.

I have to sharpen this thing,

all four prongs, gotta splice it,

gotta put the little wedges in between,

gotta wrap the base.

I mean, it's a long process.

I got my spear picked out.

I'm just getting the four prongs sharpened,

and then I'll move on to the fire-hardening portion.

I'm not surprised to see Dan and Darrin.

Dan is an amazing survivalist,

and Darrin is the real deal.

Darrin lives this stuff every day of his life.

All right, it's going good so far.

I just need to get my four corners here going.

Sharpen my spear.

Darrin's gonna be the one to beat out here.

Immensely impressive, that one.

I end up going over to a "Y" in a tree

and I place the spear inside of it.

I grab a piece of ironwood

and I hammer my kukri into the spear

to try to make my four prongs.

These trees are not great.

So I'm trying to do the best I can with what I got.

As the top six competitors make progress with carving their spears,

Dani, Gary, Trish and Bulent continue to fall behind,

and one could be facing elimination.

All of the wood over here is mopane wood,

and it's extremely hard to cut.

And I'm not used to using such a big blade.

Let's keep going.

Okay.

Um...

Okay.

Okay.

Darrin, Fernando and Dan lead the pack,

carving four-pointed prongs into the tips of their spears,

while Gary goes back to find a new branch,

after his first choice was unsuccessful.

I chop off a piece of green mopane wood from the tree.

And, uh, sure enough, I'm able to split it properly.

And so we need to play catch-up.

I gotta hurry.

God.

I spread out my splits just a little bit more,

put my wedges in and I wrap 'em.

Now that Darrin has built his four-pronged spear,

he can advance to phase two, making a fire

and hardening the four prongs.

This is awesome.

No one else, I don't even think, has finished a spear yet.

There are fire rings for each competitor,

where they will find a fire starter

and an equal amount of cordage.

After igniting their fire, they must place their spears' four prongs over the flames.

The heat removes the moisture from the wood,

making it more dense.

I wanna have this fire burning.

I know I'm not the strongest or the fastest person in this challenge,

but my bushcrafting skills are par none,

and that gives me a huge advantage over a lot of people.

A fire started with two strikes of the striker,

'cause, you know, I know how to make fire bundle.

And while my fire is going,

I look over and people, like, aren't even at the fire pits yet.

And I'm fire-hardening my spear already.

I, uh, eventually get the four prongs made

and, uh, start on my fire.

There's debris all around me. I throw some on

and the whole thing goes up right away.

I look over, though,

and, uh, not only Darrin is right next to me,

but Fernando.

It's impressive.

Darrin, Fernando and Dan are almost finished fire-hardening their spears.

Trish, Dani and Bulent continue to struggle behind...

while Patrick, Jeff, Gary and Ky

look to finish crafting their spears.

Normally, I would never batter on the back of my survival tool with a rock,

but there's no good solid branches here.

It is a race, but slow is fast in survival.

One step at a time.

I'm gonna use this as my wedge.

I turn my kukri around from the opposite side

so it doesn't damage the spacer

and hammer those into place.

This is an individual challenge for elimination.

I gotta use my own skills rather than teamwork.

So the pressure is on.

Boom!

Now I have to get my fire going.

I'm gonna take some of this cordage off my wrist here.

Keeping a cool head in situations like this

is really, really important, and I feel like that's one of my best skills, so...

All right, four tips.

Okay, stay calm.

I hack away at the sticks and finish that spear.

Get it all ready to go.

Now, I have to just get a fire going.

Sometimes, you'll struggle with fire for hours or days.

I know how to do it.

It's not difficult when you don't gotta do it in a race.

Whoo-hoo!

I hear Darrin running towards the catfish pond.

But, uh, I keep working on mine as fast as possible.

Darrin is the first survivalist to move on

to the final phase of this challenge.

Now, he must secure a catfish and pierce it with his spear.

I know I'm at least, you know, 30 seconds to a minute ahead of anyone.

And at this point, I know to stay in first place,

I just gotta jump in that pool and scoop a fish out.

, damn!

Ow, ow, ow.

Hey, !

Whoo!

I just finished first. It feels so awesome.

Got me a nice, big five-pound catfish for dinner tonight.

Look at this thing.

When I was diving in to get the catfish out...

Ow! Damn.

Hey, !

-...- I injured my testicle. -Like, I crushed it.

But, uh, I can push through any pain,

and, like, pain does not stop me.

I'm in this challenge to win it.

Looks great.

Let's go.

My spear is ready.

The main priority now is to get fire.

Now, I'm running over to the fire location,

and I'm seeing there's already people

running towards the water.

And that worries me because my number one goal

coming into this challenge was to do just good enough to get a bow.

Okay, stay calm.

You've got this.

The pond is not very deep.

There are fish flapping around.

It's just like chaos all around.

You're not going.

Ah! I did it.

My plan out here is always just to go as fast as I possibly can

and assume I'm in last place.

It's really always a surprise up until the very end for me.

-I can't believe it. -So now I get second choice

of all of the items that are out there, which is, uh, very valuable.

I'm that much closer to being the last one standing.

Okay.

Hardening, hardening, hardening.

What I really want is a bow,

and I know there's four bows out here.

I'm feeling confident, but at the same time,

I know it's not time to slow down.

Still going as fast as I can.

Whoo!

The chaos is real.

Trying to get these fish covered head to toe in mud,

not that easy.

Oh, God.

Whoo!

Whoo!

Third place, I'll take it.

There are more than three bows out here.

This would be a good dinner for tonight.

Darrin, Fernando and Dan have secured their spots in the competition

and will have the first three choices of items.

But seven survivalists are still battling to avoid elimination.

The most important thing is not to be eliminated.

I'm not focused on anybody but myself.

I'm trying to get this done as fast as possible.

There's not a big variety here.

I'm really nervous about having to catch up to everybody.

I could go home, and that's terrifying.

This is actually a lot of softer,

and easier to work with.

Just keep going.

Oh, man.

I'm in a battle with the fire.

Man!

It's super important to finish as quick as possible,

because if you're not in the top four,

you don't get a bow.

And everybody out here wants a bow.

The pressure is on right now.

Right side by side, next to me is Patrick,

my old camp mate,

and him and I are going head to head right now.

It's go time, baby!

I got my tinder secured.

And now I got to get fire going.

I use some jute.

All my tinder is going.

I throw more sticks on it.

Go, go, go!

I am in a panic now.

I realize I'm starting to fall behind,

and now I have to race Jeff and Patrick.

They're catching up fast.

Ah!

Come on now.

Three people finished ahead of us.

I have to finish next.

This is getting frustrating.

My rope is really coming in handy right now.

Oh, God.

Oh, man.

Oh, Oh, my God!

Are you kidding me?

I got this. I got it.

At this moment, it's nerve-racking as hell.

Right now, speed is key.

I got to come in the top four to be able to get a bow,

and that is all that matters.

Come on now.

Here it... Oh!

Got it!

I finally get my fire going.

I grab every single stick within my reach.

Yeah.

I grab the last of my tinder out of my bag,

throw it onto my fire and roar as it go up.

I'm gonna sprint like a

I'm gonna go over there, grab a catfish right now,

and hopefully be getting a bow.

Come on!

What the hell!

Boom.

Yeah. Uh-huh.

It's so close.

Patrick finishes, uh, with the fire

seconds before I do.

All right, putting my spear in the fire.

Yeah. All right.

Yeah.

I grab a fish.

It's slippery as heck.

Clear. Okay.

It is hot as hell outside.

I'm exhausted.

I'm tired.

But, uh, I don't care what I have to do,

I'm getting a catfish out of here.

Yes!

-They got a bow. -They got bows.

I'm in fifth place.

However, there are only four bows.

If the first four people ahead of me,

all choose a bow, I do not get one.

Uh, but it's still possible.

And on top of that, I was not eliminated.

And for me,

that's the greatest benefit that I could gain today.

Ooh, that's a good meal, baby.

Five competitors are now fighting

to avoid elimination.

Ky and Gary are in Phase 2

at the fire rings.

While Trish, Dani and Bulent

are still constructing their spears.

Boom. Got it going.

Ugh!

Man!

You got to cool your jets, man.

You can't lose your cool here.

All right.

It's cooking.

I'm so close.

I heard somebody yelling.

That does not necessarily mean anything in this challenge.

Sometimes people yell to put you off.

Yeah!

Okay.

I'm not looking at anyone else.

I have no idea where I am

in the ranking of this challenge.

So I just focus on my own game and head for the catfish pond.

Okay.

I think Dani is behind me,

which stresses me out a little bit

'cause that means I only see one other person.

But that's okay.

I only got a little bit left.

Ugh!

You are dinner, pal.

Wait, don't you... bastard!

Ah! Yes!

I'm a little disappointed that five guys

beat me to the finish line, but I got where I got.

It just means another day to prove what I can do out here,

and keep myself in the running to be the last one standing.

I'm not going home today!

It's time to get into motion.

And go into the final phase.

Ugh, man.

What the hell?

Man.

Yeah!

Seventh place.

-At least it's not last. -I'm not going home.

Still in the fight.

And, uh, that's really the biggest part that matters.

Looks like...

I'm having dinner.

We are eating catfish tonight.

With seven survivalists finished,

Bulent, Trish and Dani

are competing for the last two spots in the competition.

The sun is definitely beating down.

I've got to get this done.

I don't want to be last.

It's hectic. It's stressful.

My... level of dehydration

is definitely not helping me.

Bulent is showing signs of severe dehydration,

which could lead to kidney failure.

And producers are watching him carefully.

It's a nail-biter, isn't it?

Come on...

Thank you.

Looking good.

One step closer to the finish line.

I'm...

I just got finished making my first

fire-hardened spear ever.

And Bulent is up against a tree,

hunched down, looking awful.

All right.

Ooh, ooh!

Oh, my God, they're so squirmy.

Ow!

That was intense.

Whoo!

I'm not eliminated.

I can hear people cheering and yelling.

I see Trish made it to the finish line,

and I'm working hard to sharpen my spear.

It's down to just Bulent and I.

One of us is going to be eliminated.

I just keep I'm telling myself I need to get just a fire pit

in order to fire-harden my spear.

As medics arrive, the challenge is temporarily halted

to focus on Bulent's care.

Okay.

That means we just sit?

Are they walking away?

Who's walking away?

-Everybody. -What about Bulent?

Where the hell is Bulent?

I can't... -Hmm? -I can't catch my breath.

You can't catch your breath?

You can't see?

-Oh, Guys, check it out. ...What?

There's an ambulance there.

Oh...

What's happening?

Whoa! This is a first.

This this is serious.

Did one of them get hurt?

What the is happening?

We've got a split already.

I'm getting it sharpened.

Child's play.

For tips.

Game on.

For this competition,

The PSR or Primitive Survival Rating

weighs an individual's survival skills and items collected.

To determine the likelihood of becoming

-the last one standing. -Whoo-hoo!

Ha!

- Nice -Oh, good.

Look at that.

Patrick shared his honey find

to win over future camp mates.

It tastes like pollen.

And combined with his strong performance

in the four-prong spear challenge,

he's set up well for the next phase of the competition.

His PSR rises from 7.9 to 8.1.-

Are you kidding me? Come on!

After Jeff struggled to build a fire,

a fire to harden his spear... Oh, my God!

...and failed to finish in the top four in the challenge...

Damn it!

...his PSR falls from 9.1 to 9.0.

Bulent pushed through dehydration

during the brutal migration hike...

I'm weak. I'm dehydrated.

...but continued exposure to scorching temperatures,

has led to dizziness and shortness of breath,

requiring urgent medical attention.-

His PSR falls from 8.3 to 7.9.

To see all of the survivalist's PSR rankings,

head over to facebook.com/NakedandAfraid.

We have no idea what's happening.

Yeah, they're so far away, like,

we can't hear what's going on.

We can barely see what's going on.

There are three people still out there.

So, I had just gotten my catfish,

and Bulent is hooked up to some heart monitors,

and he's just broken.

I've never seen him like that before.

Okay.

Hey, Bulent.

-Help you get up? -Nice and slow.

Stay strong, Bulent.

Wow.

I did not see that coming at all.

Wow.

Yeah.

I definitely hit my limit.

It's so hard... when your brain keeps saying, "Go,"

and your body says, "No."

I... I gave it everything I got...

but this is the end of my journey,

Bulent succumbs to heat exhaustion,

and is medically evacuated.

His elimination allows Dani to remain in the challenge.

It was extremely sad to see Bulent leave.

It's very scary.

At the same time, that means that I'm still here,

and I'm still fighting.

I'm grateful for that,

and I'm looking forward to what's ahead.

This isn't good.

Somebody's in that ambulance.

I see Dani and Trish.

That's Trish?

It must be Bulent.

That was Bulent.

Bulent was in that thing.

I feel sick to my stomach right now.

Yep.

So what happened with Bulent?

I think the sun was too much for him.

Well... It's really a reminder

of what we're facing and how brutal Africa can be.

- He didn't look good. It's scary... - Yeah.

-'cause he's a strong person. -Oh, yeah.

Africa doesn't care that you're thirsty.

Africa doesn't care that you're hot.

If you're not keeping yourself in check,

Africa is gonna send you home in an ambulance.

With Bulent treated with IV fluids,

and his condition rapidly improving,

the competition resumes.

-We've got a lot to do for the rest of the day... Yeah.

-I got some new camp mates to find. ...All right.

-Oh, we've got some items to pick up. ...Yeah.

Now, late in the day, the nine remaining survivalists

will each choose a surrendered survival tool

based on the order of their finish

in the Catfish Spear challenge.

Ooh, so many items to choose from.

I'm taking a fishing asset 'cause that'll feed me continuously,

where bow hunting is a huge amount of energy expenditure.

For possibly no gain.

Each survivalist will also randomly choose

a zone to camp scroll,

which will sort the competitors into new camps of three.

Let's go with stuck in the middle.

"Proceed to your camp at the Springbok Skull.

Return to the skull to pick up your map on Day 16."

Second place.

Lots of options still.

I'm gonna go with the bow.

The hooks are tempting, but one fish at a time

is a tedious way to survive.

If I can get one big kill, I could be set for weeks.

It's always a gamble.

Fishing set or bow?

As hard as it is to bow hunt

and as low frequency as the kill is,

one thing we know for sure in Africa

is there are animals.

I'm gonna go with the top.

Moment of truth.

"Proceed to your camp at the Oryx Skull."

All right, all right.

I've played it safe on every...

Naked and Afraid challenge.

The safe and smart choice would be to take the fishing gear.

But, uh, I'll go for a little more high risk,

high reward in one of these bows here.

Coming home with me.

I'm going with the one closest to the brains.

What do we got here?

"Proceed to your camp at the Sable Skull."

Sable skull?

Are either of you at the Sable skull?

-No. -No. I'm Oryx.

-No? Ugh. -I'm Springbok.

Shame.

I think the best choice for me is to take a bow.

Look at this. Ho!

I'll be damned.

There's a bow.

This is what I live for, right here!

You don't even understand what this means.

I am as happy now as if I won the damn lottery back home.

Number six in line, and it looks like all the bows are gone.

There's no bows left. But to be honest,

I probably would have chosen fishhooks anyway,

because I know for sure

there's catfish in ponds in Africa.

And Africa is one of the hardest places

to bow hunt in the world.

I'm okay with the fishhooks.

Of the remaining competitors... Well, well, well.

...Gary picks the axe,

Trish, a hide,

and in last place, with all items claimed,

Dani gets nothing.

"Proceed to your camp at the Springbok skull."

-All right. -Yeah, buddy, we're together.

Patrick is such a good asset,

like, that guy has so much endurance

looking for resources.

He covers more ground out here than anyone.

You got fishing gear and I got a bow.

-Exactly. -Whoo!

The only people I wouldn't be stoked to have in my camp honestly,

are Jeff... Oh,

...I don't trust him as far as I can throw him,

and Trish. I also can't trust her.

"Proceed to your camp...

at the Sable Skull."

"Return to this skull to pick up your map on Day 16."

-Who's the Sable? -Dan?

It was bound to happen, man.

-Hey, you guys got two bows in your camp. ...Hey.

I know Dan despises me.

Dan, he can't even stand to look at me.

He gets uncomfortable when he's around me.

Snuggle buddies.

Okay, don't get me wrong.

If I'm in a camp with people who hate me,

I'm in a better position to sabotage them, right?

Yeah, we need it, which means Ky.

Ky has a ton of bushcraft skills.

She is a... an extremely formidable opponent.

I'm just gonna grab this one by the look of it.

And I'd rather be in a camp with people I can fully trust.

"Proceed to your camp... at the Springbok."

We're together, Ky!

-Darrin! ...We've got all the fishing assets, Ky.

-We've got all the fishing assets... ...And a bow.

-...and a bow. -Yeah.

And the lucky winner is...

-the Oryx Skull. -With Fernando!

All right, Gary.

"Proceed to your camp at the...

Sable skull."

Um, Dan, I've already been with him 15 days.

He wants to control everything, and I don't like that.

-It's frustrating. -It's like dealing with...

a spoiled teenager, sometimes.

-"Proceed to your camp at the Oryx skull. -" - All right.

-Who's in the Oryx? -Me and Fernando.

Gary and Fernando?

-No way! -Nice.

Here I am with Fernando and Dani.

I think Fernando is a good competitor.

Me and Dani are getting along beautifully.

I see a good team.

It's been a long day and we've got so much to do.

We should just get going.

But in the end game,

we haven't even been out here half the challenge.

We don't know what's gonna happen in this shake up.

This competition always keeps you guessing.

Right now, I've got two great partners

that are very skilled,

and I think it's time to turn the competition up.

My camp is now the two people

that I trust the least out here.

This could really set me back.

There's a big shakeup here.

Anything could be coming our way.

But I have never been more determined

to be the last one standing,

than I am right now, right here today.
