Original subtitles

Today, I fight.

I will compete to the death if I have to.

There's no group out here.

It's every survivalist for themselves.

I will be the last one standing.

I'm not going home!

Let the games begin.

They've proven they're the best of Naked and Afraid.

By dominating the harshest environments on Earth.

With my bare hands!

Now, the toughest survival competition on the planet is back.

Yes!

And more cutthroat than ever.

This time, you either have the skills or you don't.

To put 14 elite survivalists to the ultimate test.

In an all-out battle of skill for 45 days

in Africa's Munzwa Valley.

To crown the best of the best.

Yes!

-Ah! -And win $100,000.

This is what I live for!

-Yes! -To win...

-I got it. -...they must master their environment.

Pass grueling tests of skill.

We need to build torches in the dark in Africa at night.

-Bushcraft. -You have to bring out all the primitive survival skills.

Trigger it!

-And innovation. -Three, two, one, go!

Come on!

Let's go, let's go.

Or face immediate elimination.

Right now could be my last day. It's insane.

-With more pressure. -All right, you got it, Dan.

To do these challenges, it's brutal.

Anybody can go home on this challenge.

And zero mercy.

Oh, my God. I'm starving.

-You think that makes me want to give you food? ...You guys are pricks.

Dude, you're pissing me off, so stop.

You're talking to the legend, bro.

Who will rise?

-This is $100,000 on the line. - -Who will fall?

Um, makes me feel like I'm such an outcast.

-This is the best of the best. -With only one winner.

And who will be the last one standing?

I came here to win.

Previously on Last One Standing,

14 Naked and Afraid survivalists

entered the Munzwa Valley in a competition for $100,000.

The only reason I'm here is to be the last one standing.

Only to face immediate elimination.

It's getting real, real quick.

This is crazy.

As a grueling test of bushcraft skills.

Boom.

Got it.

And survival ingenuity.

Whoo.

Sent two Naked and Afraid veterans home on day one.

I did not see this coming.

Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face,

and Africa just gave me a left hook and a right.

Goodbye again, Africa.

The remaining 12 survivalists were split into four distinct groups,

but a shocking twist shattered all plans of collaboration.

There is no sharing.

-Whoa. -Yes.

No sharing. This changes things.

It could kneecap literally everyone.

A race for critical hidden tools

gave one competitor an advantage.

And led to a mad dash for hunting assets.

-Support me good. -Yeah, yeah, we got you.

My life's in your hands.

But now, gale force winds

blowing up to 50 miles per hour.

Wow, look at that wind.

Threaten the survivalist's chances

of becoming the last one standing.

-I just wish it wasn't so windy. ...Yeah, I know.

-It's freezing. -This is not typical Africa.

It is frigid. It is cold.

But this is Naked and Afraid. This is what happens.

And if you don't come out here with every intention on

pushing yourself to the absolute maximum of torture,

then you're not going to make it.

I mean, I see tears in your eyes. How are you doing?

Not good.

I'm freezing. I've got goosebumps all over my body.

For the last two nights, I have been shivering my ass off.

And then all morning this morning, just freezing.

This is like some sort of Hunger Games right now.

I already have bad blood flow.

I wish you guys could have felt my feet this morning.

-Like, I couldn't even feel them. -They're completely white.

They're still freezing now.

I know that Kate has tapped out

voluntarily on both of her challenges.

I can't stay out here anymore. Get me out!

I can't walk.

I'm sorry I came out to Africa.

Kate complaining right now makes me realize that

she might not be willing to do what it takes to be the last one standing.

I might take some of these back

to Bulent, and he can get started.

And then I'll come back and get some more.

Okay.

The storm clouds are coming in here.

With this wind and the location we're in,

it's really hard to find something that's going to make our shelter waterproof.

All of these thorny bushes, their leaves are no good.

So we're resorting to these reeds that we've found here.

But that's what survival is about.

It's not about complaining about what you don't have.

It's about looking at what you do have and making the best of it.

I don't know how people are surviving in this,

the rest of the people out there.

You alive over there, Dani?

I'm alive, but I'm suffering because it is so cold and windy.

A strong cold front pushing north from the Atlantic Ocean

has slammed into a high-pressure system

over the mountains, resulting in fierce wind gusts

and temperatures dropping to unprecedented lows.

It's freaking brutal cold today.

The wind feels like there's ice on the tips of it.

The survivalists have been trapped in their bomas for two days,

unable to hunt or fish, as the production

and medical staff closely monitor the situation.

So we've received a national weather alert

for a massive cold front coming in.

-Yes. -They're expecting winds of up to 80 kilometers an hour,

wind chill factors that are going to drop

the temperature severely.

If we don't address this, we're going to run a risk of hypothermia.

If you lose the ability to regulate your body temperature,

you could go into multiple organ failure,

you could slip into a coma and you die.

If we do not intervene, we will have

a medical catastrophe on our hands.

Due to the severe risk of hypothermia,

the survivalists are given animal hides to keep them safe.

The difference between making it through the night or,

you know, getting potential taps.

We might not have made it through tonight if we didn't have some.

No way. This is great.

It's like 100% wind block.

-This is life and death right now. -Yeah.

I always knew coming out here that the environment alone

would be our biggest competitor.

I'm pissed the medics came in.

I was the only one out here with a hut.

Do people hate me?

Do people just want to eliminate any kind of

advantage that I get?

It sucks.

How are you feeling?

I'm still freezing. My hands are cold.

Yeah.

It's a high, not a magic stove.

It just sucks because, like, I can't help how I'm cold.

Like, my body aches just from shaking,

and I can't get warm, so I can't sleep.

I've only gotten a couple hours of sleep

between the first night and now.

The fire won't even keep me warm because the wind just blows it.

That's enough to make you go mad.

Just because I have the hide doesn't mean I'm still not freezing.

I'm still freezing.

It doesn't cover your whole body.

I'm a six-foot-tall woman. You think I'm hiding underneath this wildebeest?

No one should have to be naked out

in this weather with the wind.

I think the weather is hard on everybody,

but you gotta fight.

She's here and she's not here mentally.

You're not thinking about what's tapping, are you?

-I want to be here, but not during this weather... Yeah.

I'm sorry.

If the weather was anything but this,

I'd already be, like, bushcrafting the hell out of that camp.

I just can't move. Like, that's how cold I am.

I want my producer to come.

I want to go home, and I want to go home right now.

You're leaving? I'm not going to risk anything with my circulation

for $100,000 that I may or may not get.

This is not a surprise to me.

I kind of saw this coming, but I can't predict the future.

We don't know if not having Kate here is going

to be an advantage or a disadvantage.

Yeah, ready to go. Let's go.

I am tapping because I'm freezing.

I can't feel my feet. That's how cold I am.

So you are telling me specifically...

-100%. -100%. Right now.

Yes, ma'am.

You've been a great partner.

Well, I mean, sorry. I just can't handle it, you know?

There's only, like, so much we can do out here.

You take care of yourself.

-You do what you have to do. -I believe in you guys.

We support you.

-Okay. -All right. Bye, boys.

-Do you think you need the hide? -Huh?

Do you think you need the hide?

I'm taking it.

It would be a huge benefit to us, Kate.

I mean, I don't want to put that pressure on you.

Kate didn't even look back.

I gave her my hide for an entire night

as I froze my ass off, and she walks out

of here wearing that hide, knowing that hide

would help Patrick and I so much.

In my head, I thought we were a great team.

Now I'm looking back and thinking, "Was that real?"

No way did she take her kukri, right?

-Because that's yours. -That's mine.

-That's probably yours. -That's mine.

There's the rope, but that's it.

Now we've just lost not only a partner,

but two survival items.

So we're down a partner, we're down a kukri,

and we're down a hide.

We were a team. Like, those guys stepped it up,

and I wasn't feeling the best. But this is a competition.

And I might be leaving, but I'm still playing the game.

Sorry.

I wanted to be the last one standing,

but here I am, leaving again.

You know, this is my third challenge

and my third tap out, so there's nothing proud about that.

But at the same time, like, even going out

is something that most can't do.

Kate succumbs to the cold and taps out

of the challenge, leaving 11 survivalists competing

to be the last one standing,

and Jeff and Patrick the only group of two.

All right, well, now it makes me a little bit

more worried about what's to come,

because if we need a teammate...

-Yeah, if it comes down to three people... -Yeah.

-And we're one person down... -Yeah.

Now, to be honest with you, what I'm scared of is

what awaits us in future challenges,

because if it's a team challenge and we're short a teammate,

Kate tapping out could have just killed us.

All right, good morning, you guys. Day five.

Day five.

-It's so good to feel those sun rays peeking through. -For sure.

Wow.

It's day five, and it looks like the weather's getting better.

And thank God, because we need it.

Hey, guys, I think there's a scroll out here.

-Oh, we've got a scroll. -Yeah, what do we got?

What's the news?

With the cold front pass, all camps must meet at

a large baobab tree where they will receive further instructions.

Where we are, we've almost got

to go directly north to find the tree just above the pond there.

We're going into this today, and we don't know what's going to happen.

We don't know if it's an elimination challenge

and one of us is going home, two of us are going home.

You know, that puts a lot of tension in the air.

We haven't been eating anything at all.

It's been cold. We've been shivering.

We've been expending tremendous amount of energy.

Some food would be tremendous advantage to anybody.

Everybody's excited and nervous.

What is in store for us today?

I'm trying not to put pressure on myself,

but I don't want to go home.

And I'll do everything I can to make sure I don't get eliminated.

Where's everybody else?

Isn't there another team out here?

Oh.

-Whoa. -Two.

-What's up, homies? -And then there were two.

-You're down a partner. -Here we are.

-What happened? -She med tapped?

She tapped, tapped.

-Tapped, tapped. -She quit, quit.

Whoa.

Now with Kate gone, if this gets the others

to kind of doubt us a little bit.

Hey, sounds good to me.

Should we start this thing before it starts raining or something?

Let's do it.

Today we'll test your camp's bushcraft skills.

Each camp must work together to build a baited Arapuka bird trap.

For the first phase of this challenge,

the survivalists must find bait for their bird traps.

The best bait in the area are mopane seeds,

which can be found in elephant dung.

Advancing to a water source

heavily trafficked by elephants,

each camp must dig through the dung

and dig out 20 undigested mopane seeds.

Craft a trap large enough to capture an adult sand grouse.

Set and trigger your trap.

After collecting their seeds,

each camp moves on to phase two,

where they will crush the seeds and collect materials

to build their traps.

South American natives developed the Arapuka bird trap centuries ago.

Oh, my God.

The ability to craft a nine-layer trap

and functional trigger system from available materials.

Makes this a true test of bushcrafting skills.

Oh, my God. There's a bird in there.

Oh, my God.

-Have you guys ever made one of those? -Yeah, many times.

Have you guys ever made one of those?

I never have.

There's a quick way to do that?

Yeah, many times.

If we can make it heavy enough on top,

then the critter can't crawl out underneath either and can't burrow.

How are you with that?

I've never built one before.

This is going to be a camp team challenge,

and we're down a set of hands.

The first camp to complete their trap earns a cache of

three ostrich eggs.

-Whoo! -Yeah!

-Baby! -Big, big.

-We got dinner. -That's a lot.

Oh, God. Ostrich eggs. I can taste them already.

Whoa.

That's a meal.

That's a meal, dude.

Three ostrich eggs are about 7,500 calories.

My tummy's growling now that I know there's ostrich on the menu.

As a vegetarian, I do consume eggs.

There's not much food out here for me to begin with.

So having a giant ostrich egg would mean so much.

All right. The second earns a cache of two ostrich eggs.

-Nice. -They're big.

-They're so good. -That'll be good.

Okay.

-Third earns a cache of one ostrich egg. -Okay.

The last camp to complete their trap will earn nothing.

-Oh. -Ay.

It's not an elimination.

But out of these four camps, one of them is going

to go away with nothing, a giant zero.

And now I'm like, we have to win.

Like, it's not even an option.

If we become the last team that didn't get any eggs,

that would break us down, at least emotionally.

Your challenge begins now.

-Go. -Go.

Believe me, it's terrifying, okay? It's scary.

But it's supposed to be scary.

You're in a competition with the best in the world with only one winner.

If you're not scared, you don't belong here.

-Ooh. -Oh, jeez.

Just racing across this thorny,

thorny ground is insane.

One thing we know is that seconds matter out here,

and we're going to have to work together in a very stressful situation.

Our first objective is to find elephant dung.

It comes down to each individual challenge.

It might be something you're terrible at,

and it might be something you're good at.

The whole goal is to not be last.

Competitors are in phase one of the bird trap challenge.

They must collect bait for their traps by finding

Mopane seeds inside elephant dung.

Man, they're just diving for it.

I am not risking my feet, so I take it quite slowly.

I can't believe how fast people are racing.

This is just so nasty.

There it is.

I'm first right now. I'm first place.

This could make up for any disadvantage Patrick and I had going in.

The team of two has to do the impossible.

Right here, guys. There's a big swampy area.

Doesn't look very inviting.

Just nasty elephant dung everywhere.

But that's our ticket. That's our goal to get past this challenge.

I dive into just a big heaping pile

and begin to just sift ferociously through this elephant dung.

Elephant seeds.

I got this.

One, two.

We're knee deep in who knows what kind of poopy,

muddy water.

And we're having to pull out these delicate seeds

and make sure we have 20 to get through to the next stage.

Three, four.

Where are we, team?

-Trish. -Okay.

I got eight.

-Fernando. -Two.

-Two. -Three.

I'm, like, ripping through it, trying to collect these seeds.

But I'm smelling it.

The dung is, like, coming up in my face,

the dust that's getting in my mouth.

Six.

Seven.

I'm breaking it open, and there's seeds everywhere.

I'm picking them out. One, two, three, four.

I'm at 10 before I even know it.

Where you at, Patrick?

-Nine. -Okay, I've got 10, Patrick.

Ten, 11, 12.

Guys, I have 10. You have 10? We're good.

-We're good. Let's count. -Patrick, I've got 11.

Okay, we're good. We're good. Go, go, go.

Count out the 20 seeds.

One, two, three, four.

One, two, three, four, five, six.

Twelve.

I have four, Dan, four. 13, 14.

How many you got, fellas? Talk to me.

Six, seven.

I got eight.

-Oh, I got a massive giant centipede. -Let's go.

Sixteen, 17, 18, 19, 20.

We are the first to collect all the seeds we need.

But this is awesome.

Like, we could win this thing.

Now that Gary, Dani, and Lindsey

have collected all 20 seeds,

they can advance to phase two,

where they will construct their trap.

-17, 18, 19, 20. -Okay.

-All right. -We're one of the first teams done with

the seed collection, and now we're on to building the trap.

-Dani. -I'm going to put our seeds right here.

I'm just dumping a bunch of sticks.

-I'm going to put our seeds right here. -And then I sort.

I think we'll sort through them.

Each group has been provided an equal amount of cordage.

After crushing their Mopane seeds and placing them on

a bait stick, they must build an arapuka bird trap

consisting of nine layers, large enough to trap the sand grouse,

but with gaps tight enough that the bird can't escape.

Yeah, look for a long one, too,

because we can break them in half.

And we need a good Y-shaped piece.

I'll keep looking. You start building.

And this.

How many has Bulent got?

-Nine. -I've got 10.

Bulent, talk to me.

-10. We have 20. -I've got 10.

-Twenty. -We're good, guys. We're good.

-Trish, we're good. It's good. -We're good.

-Okay, come here. Hands out. Hands out. -One.

Put your hands together. Three.

-Seven, eight. -Eight, nine.

-Twelve, thirteen. -Eleven, twelve.

-Sixteen, seventeen. -We have so many more.

-Eighteen, nineteen, twenty. -All right.

We have plenty of Mopane seeds.

Fernando, Trish, and I book it.

-15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20. -Awesome.

-There we go. -We've got all the seeds.

We're coming in last, though.

But I'm confident we'll be able to make up

some time making this arafuka.

Now that all camps have collected 20 seeds,

they can move on to building their traps and crushing

their seeds into bait.

-I'll work on these, okay? -Okay.

-The seeds, girls. -Yep, yep, yep.

-All right? -Yep.

So the strategy, they're going to assemble the frame

while I'm chewing Mopane seeds from elephant dung.

The seeds need to be crushed, small enough to be applied

as bird food directly onto the bait stick.

Okay, let's start to chew on these.

-So you take some. -Okay.

-Okay, you take some. -Yeah.

There you go.

-Okay? -Okay.

Jeff and I each take half of them Mopane seeds

and chew them up as fast as we can.

Get all the sticks. Crush them up.

-All right, we're crushing these? -Yeah.

-Are we chewing them or crushing them? -Yeah, chew.

Chewing up Mopane seeds, it is way, way faster.

I know we have to win, and every second matters.

This is, like, gross.

We've got to, like, put Mopane seeds into our mouth

that was just pulled out of poo and not rinsed off.

So I need the straightest branches I can find for this.

Bulent's chewing Mopane seeds like his life depends on it.

They're not tasting good.

I'm not very thrilled to put those seeds in my mouth.

It's like insane, like we're trying to go fast.

We're just working together. It's like we just

literally fished all these seeds out of big piles of crap.

That's teamwork to the max.

Oh, yes, nothing like some good old-fashioned

elephant to make your day in Africa better.

They taste absolutely awful.

They taste how you would imagine.

I'm gagging. Jeff's gagging.

I don't even know why the elephant eat these seeds.

They don't even, like, get any nutrition out of them.

They just kind of, like, flow right out.

So what are they going to do to us if we eat them?

Ugh.

Take one for the team, Gary.

You're going to vomit? Do it.

Elephant dung is a great resource,

but those seeds taste horrible.

It's got my nose running and everything.

Going on the bait stick.

Okay, there we go.

There that's then.

-There's a bait. -Good job, Gary.

-Nice. -There we go.

-So good. Damn. Oh, wow. -It was so nasty.

-Seeds are done. -Okay, I need long, straight sticks.

Got you.

Jeff and Patrick are first to complete their bait stick.

Now, camps must focus all their efforts on building

their Arapuka bird trap with a functioning

trigger mechanism consisting of a Y-shaped stick

that holds up the trap and two trigger sticks.

When a bird walks in to eat the bait,

it sets off the trigger and is caught in the trap.

-So you want to work on the trigger? -Uh-huh.

My job is to make the trigger mechanism.

And Jeff is going to get started on making the basket.

-I need straight sticks. -Okay.

-Because if they're crooked, they're going to leave gaps. -Yep.

When it comes to the Arapuka bird trap,

it's like a log cabin.

You lay two horizontal, two vertical on top of that.

Two horizontal on top of that, two vertical on top of that.

And you crisscross back and forth,

back and forth, back and forth.

-Jeff, make the X first. -What do you mean?

Jeff is making the basket completely wrong.

He's just stacking sticks on top of each other,

making a log cabin.

He doesn't even have the X done.

Put the X with the rope on the two corners.

-On the two corners? -Or on the four corners.

Okay.

That way you're tightening it as you go.

You want the end stuck out just long enough

that when you tie the rope up and over,

it goes through the ends so it ties everything

in place nice and tight.

The thing I'm trying to be careful of

is I want to do this one time. I have a feeling people

are going to have theirs built,

and it's going to fall apart,

because straight sticks are crucial.

-What do you want me to do? -You want to start working on the trigger sticks.

Trigger stick, okay.

I have one here that I grabbed that had a Y at the top.

You got it.

Lindsey and I are gathering the sticks.

Gary said that he would work on

the trigger part of the trap.

Okay.

Sounds good.

Looking around at the other competitors,

I already know many of them have done this several times.

Ky has. Darrin has.

There are some skilled survivalists out here.

-So each layer, you're tying to the layer before? -Yeah.

Okay.

I practice building a lot of different types

of primitive bird traps.

When it comes to the arapuka, I have a lot of experience.

Knowing this about Dani, I do have a confidence that

her bushcraft skills are going to be what get us through this.

-Oh, sorry. -We need longer, straight sticks.

Right now, I'm trying to just measure out a bunch of sticks

that will fit as the guys are getting the rope situated.

Trish, those are good, but we want most of it

at least can be bigger, like this big if possible.

All right.

-Okay, like this. -Maybe straighter, though.

It's funky because we're trying to do this

as quick as possible to get it to work well.

If any stick is bent, it leans down

and then creates a hole in the trap.

Spin, and we start feeding them through.

Get this out of the way.

We want to make sure we get this right the first time,

but this is a very nuanced trap.

You can't just slap it together.

It has to be under attention.

It has to kind of hold itself taut.

And so we have to go fast, but be careful.

Okay, this one goes here.

This one goes here.

Hey...

I look over and see Ky and Darrin and Bulent,

and they're ahead of us, but not by much.

Crap, we got to get this now.

One small misstep, one little mistake

that makes this trap not function properly could set us back.

Like, one little stick could take you out of this game.

I can do this.

I just need you guys to collect the sticks.

-Thick? -You mean thick?

You want thick?

-Yes, please. -Or long?

Both, please.

Yeah, I need long sticks, please.

Long thick sticks, please.

And straight.

These aren't straight enough.

It's tricky.

The sticks around here just don't go straight.

Straight sticks are usually in tropical areas

where they get a lot of rain and things grow quickly.

Here, you don't get much rain.

Stuff grows slowly, so it tends to have some bends in it.

I've made one of these recently in Columbia

and caught a armadillo with it.

So I know what I'm doing, but these sticks

are definitely not ideal.

They're all a bit crooked.

Straighter the better, guys, please.

Otherwise, the bird can escape.

In survival, if you rush, you're actually messing up

your chances of survival.

This is doing great, guys.

Thank you.

I am the tortoise in a race.

I am slow and steady.

I want to make it right the first time, but we are in a competition.

And this is one of those things where

I'm trying to do it fast.

I'm hoping I can do it well and fast.

Come on, team.

You got this.

All right, trigger's about done.

Okay.

-I need straight sticks. -Okay.

Right now, Jeff and I's teamwork,

we're learning how to trust each other.

And it's becoming apparent that Jeff and I both lack

a lot of experience with bushcrafting.

I've made trigger traps.

I've made the little basket to catch the birds before.

But it's hard when you've got the adrenaline going.

Okay, we got this, bro. We got this.

We got this.

While Kate lacked the mental ability

to survive out here in the wild,

she did have the bushcraft skills.

And that was kind of the one reason why

we were trying to keep her to stay for the first few days.

It would be nice to have another set of hands,

-but then again, Kate was... -We need another one to go across there.

Okay.

Tell me if this helps.

Lindsey and I are laying sticks together

and building the stack up.

Gary said that he would work on the trigger part of the trap.

All right, next layer.

This one needs to be tighter here.

We're staying very calm.

It's a lot of pressure when you're competing against

three other teams for such a nice food cache.

Well, we want to make sure it's a really good trap,

but we also don't want to be too slow.

I'm looking around, kind of gauging

where everyone else is, and I don't know

if we're in last place at this point,

second to last place.

I just know we really need to pick up the pace.

Let's work a little faster, guys.

Can you start checking my holes between the sticks

to see if we've got any holes that will fit that thing through, please?

This is too big.

We can just plug in more at the top if we need to.

Yeah, and then pull the next one towards you.

That's it.

Everybody's hungry.

Everybody's super motivated to get some food,

and this is the chance.

-So we just need to close the holes right now. -Yeah.

-I'll just put another one in here to keep it tight. -Yeah.

And just making sure we have trigger sticks,

Our team's doing a divide and conquer technique.

And there's Patrick and Jeff as two people.

And they can't specialize in one task each.

They have to scramble because they don't have three sets of hands.

Okay, we're getting damn close. Good job, bro. Good job.

Here's a couple small ones.

The hardest part of this process is

making sure we get it on the first try.

And right now, that means spending some extra time

to make sure it's stable and secure.

-How close are you with the trigger? -Right here, okay?

-Done. -Great.

We're seconds away here.

Okay, let's count.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.

Okay, we need one more layer.

And we need nine.

The top is nine. We need eight, and then the top is nine.

And it needs to be taller than that.

Yeah, that's the issue. So many. That's okay.

The layers of sticks, it's really slowing us down.

We really need to not be quite as methodical

with everything we're doing and just do something that

honestly is good enough for the task.

It's getting there. It's getting to form, right?

How many layers we got?

Three, four, five, six. Seven.

The top layer counts as one.

Eight.

So a few more small ones should be good.

-Yeah, that thing is close. Yes, yep. -That's it?

-The holes are good. -Okay.

-All right, you ready? -Yep.

Ky, Darrin, and Bulent are the first camp to

complete the required nine layers of their trap.

Now they must set the trigger mechanism

so a light touch will trigger it

and cause the trap to collapse.

Do you need a hand anywhere?

Wait, do we have nine?

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine.

-So let's get the trigger set. -Get the trigger going now.

-Trigger's going now. -I have to play with it a little bit, so.

Our cage is looking pretty good.

Our trap is fully built.

Looking around in other camps,

we're also wrapping theirs up as well.

Are we there yet?

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine.

Looks a little bit unstable.

-Let's adjust so that they don't come loose. -Okay.

-How many layers do we have? -Six.

I look around, and the other team's

got their trap stacked already.

And I'm like, oh, man.

Okay, you ready?

-Yeah. -Trigger it.

That's not good.

The stick was twisted around, so it wasn't straight.

We might need to replace the whole bottom stick.

As the trap springs, one of the branches jumps,

switches to a bend in it, and we've got a hole big enough

for the sand grouse to get through.

We need to do it again.

-I got that thing. -Go, go, go, go.

It's got to be stable when it falls.

Okay, so here's our lever, guys. The lever's already set.

Hit the trigger.

It collapses. There are a few holes.

It's not a proper trap at this moment.

It's not something that's actually going to keep one of these birds in.

We got to reset it again.

-Come on, let's go. -No.

My hands are kind of shaky with adrenaline,

which affects me when I try to set the trigger.

You're turning it too much. I can't get there.

Gotcha. Okay.

I feel like sweating right now.

This is worrying me.

How are we looking?

Okay. Okay, they're still adjusting. They're still adjusting.

Okay. Try now.

It's so frustrating. We get it done so early.

Now we've got to hustle.

Other teams are catching up to us.

-You ready? -Yeah.

-What's that? -Let's go. Let's go.

-What's that? -Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go.

Okay, bring it to me.

I'll just replace that whole stick.

Unfortunately, I put one of those

bendy sticks on the bottom of the trap.

Okay, let's reset it. You start with the trigger.

I'll fill that hole.

Any big holes there? Or are we good?

-It's not there. -It's okay.

- Let's go. Let's go. - At this point, -we're just seconds

behind Ky and Darrin and Bulent.

It's nerve wracking. We're like, we're freaking out.

We're resetting our trap.

Just Fernando and I are shoving sticks in all

different places, just trying to get it to be good.

-Go, go, go, go. -Okay.

If this thing sticks, we're going to win this competition.

Let go of it.

This is adding increased stress

to the trap I already built.

Patrick rushed the trigger on this thing.

Dude, it's all over the place.

Look, there's no way.

Look, do you see this?

It's like it's just falling apart, dude.

Jeff made the basket for this trap completely wrong.

I thought that he knew how to build this,

but it becomes obvious that he doesn't.

I'm going to have to start all over again from scratch.

Look, I'm going to need two long sticks to go in that way.

-Yep. Come on, guys. -We're getting close.

Designing your trap once and making sure it works is important.

But what's just as important is making sure

it'll work again and again.

So you only have to do that work once.

Do you have your long sticks yet, your thin sticks?

No, I don't. That's the thing.

The trigger stick, now that is very delicate.

And it takes some time to finesse it correctly.

The trigger mechanism must be set with

a precise amount of tension.

It has to be strong enough to hold up

the trap, but if it isn't balanced correctly,

the light weight of a bird may not be enough to trip it,

and the trap won't fall.

Okay.

Here's another one.

Just keep your own time.

Don't rush it. You guys have got it. You've said it before.

You know how to do it.

All hands are shaking.

I'm just trying to calm everybody down,

and then we wait, hold our breath.

Good job.

The trap stayed together, got all the holes filled.

We're stoked, but we still have to reset it.

-Go, go, go, go, go, go, go. -Just relax.

-Trip it, trip it, trip it. -Trip it.

Trip it easy.

No holes, no holes, no holes, no holes.

We're going to reset it again.

Come on, let's go.

Oh, man, we're neck and neck. We're so close.

I got this part. I got this part.

Guys, we've got it. Come on.

-There we go. There we go. -Ready?

You got it.

Go! Go!

-Yep, yep, yep, yep. -We almost had him.

Yeah!

Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Here.

-Take one. -Holy son of a bitch.

-Look at this thing. -Oh, I'm so stoked.

We really needed this win.

We've got three ostrich eggs.

We got it done.

Very, very, very happy with my team.

Great teammates.

-Couldn't be happier. -This is awesome.

Total win. Total win.

And Ky is amazing.

Like, her knowledge is so vast,

and her skills are just unprecedented out here.

Get inside my belly.

Let go, let go, let go Come on.

-Let's give it a try. -Go, go, go, go.

-Go, go, go. -Come on, baby.

-Let's go. -Yes.

-Go. -Go.

Yeah, baby.

Good job.

Two teams are already getting the bulk of those ostrich eggs.

I am so happy for me and my camp that we accomplished this.

We're going home with two ostrich eggs tonight,

which are huge.

Great job.

This camp is kicking ass.

We're going to eat tonight.

We're going to sleep like big fat babies.

And I could not be more proud of our teamwork.

These are over like 2,000 calories per ostrich egg.

This is a huge, huge victory.

And dinner!

-Woo! -That's like a lot of weight.

-Yeah. -Whoo!

It looks like it's down to us in the final group.

We're out here burning thousands of calories.

It's okay. It's okay.

Now that it's down to just my team versus Patrick

and Jeff, that is a lot of pressure knowing that

one of us is going to walk out of here with an ostrich egg,

and the other is going to go home empty handed.

During the rebuild, I'm collecting all

the sticks necessary to make it as fast as possible.

I'm prioritizing the sticks in groups of size,

small, medium, large, extra large.

That way, all Patrick has to do is grab from

a certain pile and stack.

Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam.

-Come on, guys. -We're getting close.

It's neck and neck with us and Jeff and Patrick.

We just need to get the trigger.

I'm just focused, pure focus.

Close.

Okay, here's your Y. Here's your Y.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine.

Let's set this trigger and let's win this baby.

It's wobbly.

-What, towards them? -Yeah, you have to sit on this side.

The only thing left is one egg.

I'm scared that we're not going to get any.

If we don't get this ostrich egg, it's going to be a blow.

We haven't eaten in five days.

It's like leaning to one side.

-I need you to hold these sides, can you? -Okay.

I feel like winning one of the ostrich eggs

is absolutely make or break, but that is a lot of pressure

knowing that one of us is gonna go home empty handed.

That one goes right there, yeah.

Coming into this as an underdog, everyone likes a hero.

And if I can rise to the top with Jeff,

and we can take at least one of these eggs home, it'll be huge.

Let go, yeah.

And put that again on there. Get this.

Go back with your stick.

There you go.

Here we go.

All right, we're doing good, buddy.

We're a hair away.

You got this, Gary. Take it off.

-Yep, you're good. -Yes.

Good job, guys.

We did it. It's beautiful.

-Let's kiss it. -Here, Dani.

You cherish that girl.

This thing is huge.

This has a lot of calories in it.

As a vegetarian, I do consume eggs, honey, dairy.

So this is definitely on my menu tonight.

Good job. We're eating tonight.

This is a huge win.

Gary and I had never built an Arapuka trap.

But thankfully, Dani has.

So once again, it's Dani to the rescue.

Woo.

All right. We did it. We're going to eat tonight.

You know, at least we didn't finish last,

which means no food.

-Hey, man. -Good effort.

-Yeah. -Hey, bring it down.

Who are the underdogs going into this with a man down?

With a man down, I mean, at the first half of that,

-we were leading, you know? -Yeah.

-With a man down. -It would have been nice

to have those, at least one of those eggs.

Yeah.

Good effort, guys.

We just lost this challenge.

We don't get any of those six ostrich eggs.

This is big hit for our team.

And I try to stay as positive as possible,

but it does weigh on you mentally.

I can't lie. It's nice to beat Jeff.

We're talking about a man that's completed two

60-day challenges and beyond,

almost at 300 days out here in the wild.

Cold and getting dark.

We got eggs to cook, fire to build.

Let's go home.

-Yeah. -Sounds good.

-Good job. -Good job, guys.

That was rough, you know?

I'm exhausted.

Me too.

Patrick and I did everything we possibly could today

to win this thing.

And Kate tapping out us.

Having just those few extra hands

could have made all the difference.

Patrick had one job and it was to build the trigger.

All that had to happen was that trigger

had to stick and we were going to win that challenge.

The trigger didn't work.

If that trigger would have been ready

when he said it was, we would have won this challenge

and we'd have three eggs for two people right now.

We just scored three big, beautiful ostrich eggs.

We're gonna eat two of them tonight.

We are very excited about the fact that

we're gonna smash these eggs.

There's that membrane that he's talking about there.

All right, here we go. You mush it up.

Oh! And then comes out the bottom.

And we are going to have a scrambled delicacy tonight.

Scrambled ostrich eggs for dinner.

For the first time in this game, we're out on top.

We just won an ostrich egg in our challenge.

And Gary is over there prepping it.

Making some eggs.

-Oh, yeah. -Look at that.

We are going to eat good tonight.

Wow. That is a meal.

Ostrich egg is ready.

It's been hard boiled for like an hour and a half.

This is going to be quite the feast.

Mmm. Oh, it's so good!

My God.

This egg is so delicious.

Mmm. Oh, God.

-Mmm. -Look at that, right?

-That tastes like an egg. -Yes!

It's orgasmic.

I can feel the energy already, like, popping in my body.

I've never had ostrich egg before.

Mmm.

Creamy, delicious?

It is absolutely amazing.

The verdict?

Great.

Just need some hot sauce and we're money.

Oh my goodness.

Isn't that beautiful?

Creamy deliciousness.

This is going to be the best meal I've ever had.

Lindsey cooking up some eggs in the kitchen.

-Oh, yeah. -Eggs.

-That looks so good. -Yeah, it does.

-It looks amazing. -Look at that.

Scrambled eggs.

-Oh, yeah. -Cheers.

-Oh, my God. -It tastes better than you could ever imagine.

We're all going to sleep excellent after this meal.

Yeah, we are.

This is a competition, of course,

and three teams got to walk away with food

and one team did not.

I bet they're pretty disappointed tonight.

Dude, you spit seeds out into my hand today.

Yeah.

Losing the egg competition.

Worst thing ever.

It sucks.

Now, really have to step to the center of the octagon,

touch gloves, and go head to head.

Man, we've had some bad luck, huh?

Yeah.

We're definitely the underdogs,

and I feel like a lot of it's not even from our own doing.

I mean, if the medic hadn't have stepped in

-and given everyone a hide... -Mm-hmm.

That could have possibly been, you know, trade fodder for us.

-100%. -My biggest...

The biggest item that I had to trade

that I found via the caches was my hide.

And we all know that night the medics

came in and gave everyone a hide.

It killed me.

It killed all of my trade opportunities.

It killed my strategy because I don't have

anything of super high value to trade.

To be able to get one of those eggs.

-I was going to trade for a bow. -Yeah.

You know, Lindsey, Dani, and Gary's group, they have two bows.

And, you know, Gary's really

the only bow hunter over there.

And he doesn't bow hunt in his normal life.

I've been bow hunting since I was 12.

It's like, come on, man. It's frustrating.

Maybe we should open communication with Gary.

Brother, great idea.

So I'm sitting here in a natural blind by

this water source, hoping something comes by.

At least I'm out here giving it a try.

We got to eat.

What I'm seeing out there, it's geese.

They have the most potential at the moment.

But those things are very skittish.

They won't let you get close.

Hey, Jerry, any luck?

So who else in your group's using the other bow?

Lindsey.

-Yeah. -I, um...

I was wondering if you guys might be up

for kind of a little barter.

Not an official trade. I wouldn't keep anything.

You guys wouldn't necessarily keep anything.

My idea was if you guys would let me use the bow,

and anything and everything I kill with that bow,

you guys get half.

I mean, let's be real.

The chance of either of these girls shooting anything

with that bow is minimal.

Think about strategically placing the bow

in a bow hunter's hands where you're gonna get meat back.

I get 100% of what I kill.

Like, I... To me, we have two people with bows...

We both get 100%.

If you don't have confidence that you can kill something with the bow,

then I understand why you'd give it away.

I'm known primarily as a scavenger,

but between me and Lindsey, I have confidence.

No, uh, I don't think it's a good idea.

Well, be it known that if I shoot something

with one of your bows in this challenge,

you'll get half of whatever I kill.

Oh, well, I'm going to go over there real quick,

-and I'll talk to you guys in a bit. -Sounds good.

-Good talk, bro. -Yeah, good talk.

-What's up? -What's happening?

Do you go down to the other water source?

Yeah, I cut through and kind of ended up

right in that other water source.

Were there other people out and about?

I heard Jeff and Patrick up in the hills.

Okay.

So Jeff wants to make a deal for a bow.

Oh.

I'm fine with trading one of our bow sets.

There's no need for us to have two bows.

I mean, I think it's still a huge asset

to hold onto to trade in the future.

That bow is coveted to barter with later.

Yeah, so I spent a little time,

and I was like, yeah, this is pointless.

In an ideal world, I would love to trade the bow

for multiple eggs.

I don't know if it's because Gary and Lindsey

have been partners in a previous challenge.

They already have a huge bond together.

But Gary and Lindsey kind of just claimed the bows

and arrows to themselves.

You think Trish and Dan still have both bows?

Not sure.

Right now I'm just scoping out the area,

looking for tracks and signs and feeling

which way the wind blows and whatnot,

and gaming out our best options for food here.

You know, I've done this before.

I came in second in the previous Last One Standing,

and I know how much fuel you need to get to the end.

You know, you can't just sit around

and conserve calories in a challenge like this.

You're running around in the competitions,

trying not to get eliminated.

The more food you get, the more energy you have,

the more likelihood of success you have,

the faster you can think on your feet,

and that's what this is all about.

These tracks right here, all Impala.

There's a lot of fish in there.

We're likely coming down to this watering hole.

This might be a place I have to build a blind.

You know, I've hunted plenty with a bow,

but I haven't had much success,

and neither has Trish or Fernando.

Dan!

How'd you make out?

A couple nice game trails.

Maybe some opportunities to set up blinds there.

But I think, like, it'll be a good idea to trade

one of these bows to Ky and Darrin and Bulent's team.

Yeah.

Try to get the fishing gear.

Yeah.

-But, um... -But remember, let's let them...

Let's say what they want to offer first before we, like,

make a push into any decisions.

Like, let's just see if they're willing to offer up

that fishing gear, because that'll tell us

how desperate they are for that bow.

I want to see where their game is at.

I want to see where their strategy is at

before we go making offers.

It's like poker.

Let's just hold our cards and see what they say.

Okay.

The bow and arrow sets out here,

those are by far the most valuable item.

And I know there's four bows out here.

So in my head, I'm like, crap, we gotta get this now,

and we gotta get this moving.

-I'd say these are ready. -I'd say you're right.

Oh, they smell just as good. They're hard to dispute.

Still almost a full second egg in here,

but then we've got one more.

I think that puts us high on the trading market today.

Yeah.

Marco!

Oh!

-I mean, sorry, Paolo. -Hey, that was easy.

We're just hanging out in the boma,

and I hear Dan yell out, and Dan, Trish, and Fernando

head on over to our camp.

-Welcome. -Thank you.

-Nice to see you. -And they have a beautiful 35 pound bow with them

and I'm hoping they're looking at trading.

-So, we obviously have two bows, but... -Mm-hmm.

-And we have none. -And you have none.

There's no point in keeping a bow from, you know,

the most capable bow hunters in a challenge.

At least, in my opinion.

Like what are you guys thinking?

What, what would this bow be worth to you guys?

What do you guys have to trade?

Well, we only have the fishing hooks,

which you already have, but we have an egg.

-So... -Is fishing hooks on the table?

I don't want to speak for us all,

but I think we're pretty... we would keep our fish hooks.

Yeah, I mean, that's... that's easy money.

Okay.

-Doesn't get you rich, but it gets you by. -Fair.

Catfish is an easier get than an impala out here,

and we're keeping our fishing hooks in line.

If we give you a bow, then we're just basically

giving you something for nothing.

No, you get the egg.

Yeah.

So they offer up the egg, which is great.

I'll take another egg.

But that's not a fair trade.

I don't want to keep a bow away from you guys

if you're willing to, you know, share your kills,

your major kills and stuff like that.

Dan, Trish, and Fernando feel like Darrin

and myself might have more experience with

the bow, so they're looking to trade the bow for the egg

plus a little interest in the future.

I feel like the reciprocation possible for you guys

is quite big if we get a big animal.

So what you're saying is we'd have to just trust everybody's word.

Well, yeah, of course.

I don't cheat out of deals.

-Once you've got my word, you've got my word. -Okay.

So with the understanding that, you know,

we share equal portions of our kills,

our major kills, would you be comfortable

with trading this bow for an egg?

-Yes. -Yes.

-That's three yeses. -Cool.

-I'll go get the trade item. -All right.

Thank you.

I'll hand these off to you.

-And this is yours. -Glad we made this happen.

Yeah, me too. Thank you.

We have a bow.

Trading the third egg for a bow, like,

we're giving up a lot of food out here.

But that bow gives us the possibility to feed ourselves.

Our camp can be stronger going forward.

We're going to take our bows out.

Fingers crossed that there's good tracks.

And maybe we'll find a good blind and get lucky.

Just trying to scope out, you know, a natural blind.

Be a good blind.

And I'm hungry for some meat.

Hunting is being patient and waiting and waiting

and waiting.

The animals are way spread out here.

It is a little frustrating.

It doesn't look like a real promising place, really.

Well, our expedition slash hunt this morning

didn't yield anything.

You know, that's okay.

Very rarely does a first time out hunt do anything.

I didn't have much luck, but I did some reconnaissance,

and I did set up a spot for the future.

Look at that squirrel.

Where is he?

-Look at that squirrel. -Where is he?

Oh, you got him.

You got him. You got him. You got him.

Yeah, Terry, good job.

Gosh darn it.

He hit this little squirrel from really far away.

It was an amazing shot.

My first bow kill.

Dude, that's so hard. The thing is so tiny.

It does feel good to know that my aim's on, you know?

And I mean, it's not a big game kill,

but we're going to eat a little something.

The squirrel means just morale builder.

Me and you are going to eat.

Good job.

We are having roasted squirrel for dinner.

Now I can go ahead and just freely cook it.

-Hey. -Hi, guys.

Hi.

-How's it going? -Good.

-Gary got a squirrel. -A squirrel.

Awesome.

-I, uh, yeah, just hit a squirrel. -Yeah.

-It was a hit. -Congrats.

So sorry.

Oh, it does not. You guys can eat all the meat.

It does not bother me. You don't have to apologize.

It's difficult having a vegetarian partner.

We're aware that whatever we kill doesn't benefit her,

but we're all starving.

We've all not had a lot of food.

Yeah. I think that's got to be done.

You think it's done? You good with it?

Yeah.

I mean, it's super lean meat.

Yeah, I mean, it's hot through and through, I'm sure.

-We'll let it cool off. -Yep.

I mean, it really does just taste like chicken.

Chicken.

It kind of sucks to feel like I'm, like,

the odd one out in a trio, but that's how it always is.

Like, in any group of three, there's always going to be

two that are more connected.

-Well, enjoy your meal. -Thank you, yeah.

I need to go see what I can find.

-See you guys in a bit. -Yeah.

It sucks missing out on that ostrich egg cache.

You know what?

A few ostrich eggs is not going to make the difference

on whether or not you are the last one standing.

You finding anything spear-worthy?

Found this stick. Should be pretty good.

I know it gets you to the end of these challenges,

and that's buckling down, and that's being a badass survivor.

And that's what I'm going to do for the next 40 days.

So right now, I'm fire hardening my two-pronged spear.

I'm going to wrap it in some cordage.

I think this will be fine for lizards,

snakes, and some of the bigger catfish.

Oh, for sure.

Yeah, we got a couple of tools in our arsenal.

Right now, Jeff and I's teamwork is not good.

But it's just the two of us.

So all we can do is work together, not get at each other.

And you better believe I am motivated

to get us some protein.

Let's go to the grocery store.

Protein on the menu.

Patrick and I have decided to divide and conquer,

walking into a pond with a spear.

We are risking our lives to crocodiles to catch dinner.

This is not normal. But you got to try.

I really would like a belly full of protein right now.

I've been losing weight and I don't want to lose anymore.

If I can get some protein in me,

this could be a game changer.

That's a nice one.

That's a start. I got one.

Oh, awesome. Nice.

Number two.

Oh, my gosh.

There's another one.

Those ones you just scoop right up and out.

They are all over the place.

Number 13. Lucky number 13, baby.

I told you all that I was going to get meat out here.

That I didn't have to care about eggs.

But I got a huge bag full of fish.

We don't need no stinking eggs.

Oh, I love fishing.

Dinner's up!

48, 49, 50.

50 even.

-50 even? -Yeah.

Yeah. 50 fish, baby!

Yeah!

Yeah, like, that's a lot of meat right there.

That's like an egg.

Yeah, right. Yeah.

-Four fish, an egg. -Yeah.

Mm-hmm.

Yeah, you know, we were the underdogs this morning,

but right now, I'm feeling like a winner.

-Heck yeah. -Look at this.

How could you not?

Everybody thinks that Patrick and I are disadvantaged

because we don't have any bows or arrows.

-Bon appetit, dude. -Bon appetit.

-Hells yeah. -Cheers.

Cheers, bud.

I hope they think that we're not a threat,

because I promise you, we're the two strongest

competitors out here right now.

What this does, this puts us

not even just back on track with everyone else

that had the ostrich eggs.

We're ahead right now.

-Yeah. -Mm.

Mm, bro.

-Dude, that's a fish dinner right there. -Mm-hmm.

Hell yeah.

Looks good this way.

Try and avoid all these thorn bushes.

I'm excited to have a bow.

Bulent and I are heading off for a scout.

I want to go and check out the big pond

that we found the fish hooks at.

It's the most undisturbed in this area

and maybe our best chance at big game.

Lots of little tracks.

A whole mix of things went through here.

-These look like paw prints almost. ...Mm-hmm.

That's big.

That has to be really big.

More than likely a cat.

As great as 2,000 calories of egg is,

if we can get an impala, that's a game changer.

There's some big birds over the other side there.

-I wonder if they're like... -Really big ones too.

We can hunt those.

I wonder if it's worth creeping around

to see how easy they are to get up on.

Okay, go ahead. I'll observe you from here.

Okay.

Hunting is difficult in Africa.

Every animal is skittish. Every animal is trying to survive.

So are we. So it takes a lot of patience.

It takes a lot of tech.

Ky is very experienced, very knowledgeable.

So I'm happy we get a boat.

It's a different ballgame.

There's a couple of Egyptian geese on the pond.

I was trying to get downwind of it,

get within arrow range to see how close I can get with these geese.

I know I can definitely get into bow range.

Hunting is difficult in Africa.

Every animal is skittish.

Oh, so close.

I think coming back here the next couple of days

and seeing if it's worth setting up a blind there,

'cause one of those is definitely big enough for a meal for three.

We know that we just gave up our ostrich egg,

so no food for us tonight.

Next time.

Looking for bait on the way to fishing.

Oh, yeah.

I'm getting some grasshoppers pretty quick today.

Got one.

We've had eggs, and we know it's going to run out.

So it's time to use that energy that we've gotten from

these meals to go start looking for

some more food options.

Gross.

The water is so murky and filled with algae

that the fish might not even be able to see bait on a hook

right in front of them.

So I don't know how much success we're going to have

with the hooks, but we're damn well going to try.

The fish are practically right there.

We can see them, and they're just not fighting.

I had an idea.

It'll take a little bit, but...

We could potentially make a net out of the rope

that's left.

Yeah, that's a crazy idea.

I made one in the Amazon, and it worked.

What'd you use?

Fishing line.

-Oh, my God! Woo! -Success!

-Wow, that's an idea. -Mm-hmm.

It's a great idea. Let's do it.

-I'm excited about that. -Yeah, me too.

So today my plan is to go foraging

and scouting, if you'd like to join me.

Yeah, I'm good to go for a walk.

I'll bring my bow and arrow.

You never know what we might come across.

-Opportunities. -Yep, exactly.

It's extremely hard to be a vegetarian in this environment.

It just looks scorched.

It looks like things are just set on fire.

I'm looking for eggs, berries, some kind of plant

that would have, like, edible potatoes or tubers.

I'm not seeing too much yet, and just judging by

the soil type, I know not many forms of vegetation

can thrive in this environment.

I've never seen such, like, dry ground.

Yeah.

Yeah, all the poop here is super dry too.

My body is just craving calories.

Compared to all of the other competitors

that are eating fish and animals,

it definitely puts me at more of a disadvantage

because that excludes so many calories.

They have a lot more opportunities than I do.

Dani, there's some weaver nests over here,

but I don't know if they're active.

Maybe you could reach them with a bow.

We're just kind of scouting for birds' nests around here.

Oftentimes, they have eggs inside them.

Look at that.

It's so delicious.

There you go.

Maybe poke it up.

I find it hard to hold.

Something to grab onto with my feet.

-It's empty. -Yep.

Oh.

Not having much luck finding vegetarian food out here.

Nope, it is definitely barren.

I've seen a couple of lizards out in here.

I hit one of them, but not well enough to kill him.

Plan for today, I'm going to get a little bit

better idea of my surroundings.

I swing by Gary's camp, and I see that everyone there is away.

Ooh.

There, I see a baobab tree.

And underneath it is a treasure trove of flowers.

These flowers here are the baobab flower.

They bloom for just a day.

And then after that, they fall down to the ground,

as you can see here.

So these ones, looking this fresh, perfect.

They probably just fell down today.

I just found a gold mine in the enemy's camp.

Forty baobab flowers will provide 500 calories,

which is equivalent to five apples

and is high in fiber, vitamin C, and calcium.

Yeah, boil this.

It's going to be delicious.

Right now, I'm getting nutrient-rich flowers.

I can see their boma from here.

Dani's a vegetarian, and this is a nutrient-rich source

that is a vegetarian's delight sitting right by our shelter.

Smells like victory.

Hey, buddy.

So I was walking around looking for lizards,

stopped over by Gary's camp, wandered around,

and then I found something.

Freshly fallen flowers from the Baobab tree.

-That's a massive score. -Right in the enemy's camp.

Just laying on the ground.

You know, it's one thing to find a resource

in your own backyard.

It's another thing to find a resource in

the enemy's backyard.

I like this guy right here.

Patrick is a snake in the grass.

And I love it.

I can see the competitive spirit.

It is ramped up.

He's playing this game aggressive.

-Matt, you ready? -Okay.

Oh, my God.

You know, I think if Dani could see Jeff and I

munching down, I think she'd be really jealous.

It's crazy. There's this much baobab flower

sitting right next to a vegetarian.

A vegetarian that shot the first shot of the war.

Dani stole my rope on day two,

so she's already acknowledged herself as a threat.

Whoa!

If you make an enemy out of me,

I don't care if it takes me out of the challenge.

I will take them with me.

My hands are shaky with adrenaline.

We got to reset it again. Come on, let's go.

Come on, guys.

With this competition, the PSR,

or primitive survival rating,

weighs an individual's survival skill and items collected.

To determine the likelihood of becoming

the last one standing.

Great job.

I can do this. I just need you guys to collect the sticks.

Ky's bushcraft expertise led to an ostrich egg feast...

Go!

...and a bargaining chip for the ultimate hunting tool.

Her PSR rises from 9.5 to 9.6.

All right, next layer.

We need longer, straight sticks.

Even though she has strong primitive survival skills,

Dani struggles with the area's limited resources.

The ones I find are not edible.

And her team's refusal to trade a bow for an egg.

I'm fine with trading one of our bow sets.

There's no need for us to have two bows.

That bow is coveted to barter with later.

Drops her PSR from 8.7 to 8.6.

It would have been nice to have at least one of those eggs.

Yeah.

Despite losing the challenge and missing out on an egg,

Patrick's primitive survival skills,

making a spear, then harvesting numerous fish

and baobab flowers, raises his PSR from 8.0 to 8.1.

I just found a gold mine in the enemy's camp.

If you make an enemy out of me,

I don't care if it takes me out of the challenge.

I will take them with me.

To see all the survivalist PSR rankings,

head over to Facebook.com/NakedandAfraid.

All right, we can go look for pieces to construct this net.

Here's a good piece.

So we had the idea to make a dip net.

I'm kind of excited about this idea.

Just need a regular Y stick like this.

So get another bendable stick, put it right through here

to sort of make a teardrop shape,

lash it on, and then build a net off of the bottom

of it using the extra twine we have from the rope.

To create netting, the survivalists will tie knots

between each of the strings fastened to a wooden scoop.

I should be able to scoop up the sunnies

in the water very easily.

I would go a little smaller, because you just...

Dani, do you mind if we make it tighter?

-No. -Okay.

If we have big success catching fish

using these materials

that every other team has access to,

that'll be kind of funny.

Feel free to watch me as I go, and if I'm messing up,

please stop me.

This is his first time.

I wouldn't put too much pressure on yourself for each knot.

It's not perfect. Move on to the next one.

They just gotta get together.

Did it.

-Yeah. -All right.

I'll go try my luck with our new net.

Good luck, Dan.

There are very large crocodiles all around this area.

It's good to check for slides and check for activity

before you go up to the water's edge.

I guess my plan is to risk crocodile death at this point.

Holy.

Oh, that's awesome.

Another one.

That's eight. Whew.

Well, I just got to move faster.

Holy.

Yes!

Yes!

What's that? Nine, 10, 11.

These are all big.

I know how important it is to have fuel in your system

to keep you running, to keep your mind up

and your speed up and your energy up for those competitions,

those elimination days.

Things like this are a big deal.

-Hey, hey. -Hey, Dan's back.

How'd you make out?

Well, you know, covered myself in mud.

I keep getting spined in the hip because I have

a giant bag full of fish.

Woo!

Yeah! Yes, buddy!

-It worked. -Get over here.

-Dan, awesome job. -Hey, did anybody see you?

-No, nobody saw me. -Nice, nice.

-There you go. -Oh, awesome.

♪♪ It's raining fish ♪

- This is crazy. -So crazy. So many fish.

This is incredible.

Yummy fish tonight.

We are having a lot of fish tonight

and it is going to be amazing.

All of these that aren't even cooked yet.

Fish heads.

That's where all the good stuff lives.

We're on a roll. We're going to be strong.

We've had a lot of fish, over 20 fish.

We've had three ostrich eggs and I think

we're the most fed camp out here.

And it shows.

Isn't this great?

Mm-hmm.

-Oh, we've got a scroll. -Yeah.

Have a scroll.

These are big deals on this challenge.

-Time to send some home. ...Oh, yeah, baby.

Who wants to open it?

A game for whoever.

-Ready for this? -I'm ready.

You need to fell a tree at the X on day 10.

To compete, your camp must craft a primitive axe.

And this is an elimination challenge.

-Oh. -Oh.

-Wow. -Yeah.

Okay.

-Well, damn, we got a day to do this. ...Mm-hmm.

You know, I think there's a little bit

of disadvantage having only one guy.

Our team has a lot of girl power,

and I have a feeling that this girl is going to be

the one doing a lot of heavy chopping.

We got to get cracking.

This is, like, designed for you.

I'm so stoked about this challenge.

This is what I'm good at, and I know that

we've won this challenge already.

I say we find a nice big chunk of quartzite

Oh, this is going to be hard.

We're going to have to flintknapp an axe blade.

Dude, like, a professional axe sometimes

falls apart when you try to chop down a tree.

It's a huge undertaking, and we're the only two-person team.

-Let's get working. -Let's do it.

I mean, I'm a little bit worried about Patrick.

I'm not too confident with the skills that

he's bringing to this challenge.

And that worries me.

The last thing in the world that I want

is to be eliminated from this challenge.
