[Episode 6]

Benefactress, this is the Five Phases Amulet you requested.

It can care for the primordial spirit, bless you with peace and luck,

and can dissolve the evil spirit in your life. [Five Phases Amulet]

Please take good care of it and live safe and happy.

Thank you, Master.

I'm not cold.

Don't worry. I'll try my best

to keep you safe.

Since you promised to protect me,

I will return the favor.

Cui Jie?

This is my nephew.

What did you do this time?

Uncle, when Miss Mu was

at her mother's grave yesterday, he broke into Fayuan Temple

and tried to do something indecent.

What? You!

He said he worked for Mrs. Mu.

And that Mrs. Mu ordered him to do that.

M-Me?

It pertains to Mrs. Mu's reputation, so I brought him here

and am handing him over to you for questioning.

What's wrong with you? When did I let you go to Fayuan Temple?

How can you do such a heartless and evil thing?

Do you have a conscience? You!

You bastard!

Even a dog won't bite its owner.

Guangyao, I'll leave this thing to you.

Beat or punish him as you wish.

This has nothing to do with the Mu family.

Uncle! Uncle! Why would you think that I would do that?

I would never do such a thing!

I… I wouldn't do that! It's as if a toad tried to swallow a swan!

Wait...

Cousin Wanting said…

- She said… - What did she say?

She said that my aunt intended for me to marry Miss Mu.

And so she asked me to go to Fayuan Temple to meet Miss Mu.

She said if I was fond of her, that I could molest her.

Me?

What I said is true! Help me! Help! Aunt, help me.

Really! Cousin Wanting really said this to me!

No!

Is he telling the truth?

Sir, do you think I could possibly say that?

- Go and bring Wanting here. - Go!

Wanting.

Yesterday, this bastard snuck into Fayuan Temple

and tried to rape Wanqing.

He said that you told him to go there. Is that true?

I-I didn't.

Cousin, how could you say that? I didn't do anything wrong to you!

How could you say that?

But you did tell me that!

You said… You said that Aunt intended to have Miss Mu marry me.

You told me to go to Fayuan Temple to meet her.

And if I liked her, I could rape her.

What are you talking about?

Father, I'm an unmarried girl. How could I let him do such a thing?

You did say that!

You specifically went to the Jin Casino to look for me!

Young Master Cui. [Check: Two Thousand Silver Dollars - Mu Wanting]

Let go of him.

It's the young lady from the Mu family. She's my cousin!

Let's go.

Those servants were all witnesses!

If you didn't tell me, how would I have known about Ms. Xiao's funeral

and that Miss Mu was there?

I did run into you at Jin Casino yesterday.

There, I happened to see you being chased due to debt.

So, I helped you pay it back.

Cousin, how can you say that about me?

You told me Miss Mu came from Japan and grabbed your spotlight,

so you asked me to help you take revenge. Did you not tell me that?

I didn't! You're lying!

You! My Lord, it's all my fault.

I spoiled you too much; look at you now.

You are now behaving irrationally and saying random things.

But she may have just used words without thinking.

She can't do such harmful things.

You said Miss Wanting ordered you.

- Do you have any proof? - Proof?

Yes, I do have proof. That check.

That's the evidence!

- Check? - Yes.

Wanting,

is there such a thing?

I…

I…

You asked me for a check yesterday.

You said that one of your classmate's family members was in trouble,

and you wanted to help him pay off a debt.

Were you lying to me? Tell me the truth!

Father, I did bump into him yesterday.

But I did it because you are a part of my family.

I didn't want to see your fingers getting chopped off and our family being disgraced.

- That's why I helped you and didn't tell Moth– - You brat!

Mu Wanting, you have to tell the truth or you will get me killed!

Do you understand? I'll get killed!

Please tell the truth. You said it was a reward! A reward!

- I'm not lying. - Reward!

If you don't believe me, call the men at Jin Casino here

and they'll confirm it!

Wanqing.

It's all your father's fault. I didn't think it through.

I should have sent someone to go with you.

Of course, Wanting also has her issues.

If she hadn't said something wrong,

it wouldn't have given this shameless guy a chance.

For the sake of Wanting's unintentional mistake

that she also admitted to,

please forgive her.

Is that okay?

Older Sister, I didn't mean to hurt you.

I was also used by those people.

Please forgive me. Okay?

It's up to you, Father.

You shall be grounded for a month and won't be allowed to go anywhere.

Mother, thank you.

Otherwise, I wouldn't have known what to do.

Whatever you do,

you should consider the immediate consequences.

Do you know how dangerous things are these days?

I know. I was wrong.

Whatever you do in the future, don't do things by yourself.

Come to discuss it with me first.

But this time, that bitch got off easy.

Don't worry.

We have plenty of time. We will get our chance.

I can't believe

Uncle Mu would accept those explanations so easily.

Because in Father's mind, he can't believe Wanting would do all of that.

It would've been futile to keep trying.

I really hate that.

How can he not think about you?

You don't have to try and defend me.

When my brother died,

my father immediately brought Aunt Cui and Wanting home.

This is nothing.

I understand.

I'm worried about you staying by yourself in a family like this.

I'll help you figure something out.

Come in!

Brother Guangyao,

I told you to give me some time. Please stop pestering me.

If you need more time, I'll give it to you.

As long as you're not afraid of running out of money,

I can have a longer discussion with you.

Brother Guangyao, thank you. Please, have a seat.

I came to see you not because of the plan,

but for another matter.

I'd like to ask you for a favor.

Are you asking me to help you?

Sure.

I'll do whatever you want if it's within my abilities.

It's not a big deal.

I want Wanqing to be my foreign language secretary.

Wanqing has agreed to this idea.

Are there any problems with that?

If it's for work,

I'll get you a secretary

from the Commercial Press who can speak five languages.

Wouldn't that be better?

Wanqing excels in both Japanese and English.

And for the Mu family's sake,

if you want to make good deals with the Municipal Council in the future,

she can also help.

You're right.

Okay, let Miss Mu come to work tomorrow.

If she can't work alone, I'll find her an assistant.

I've known her since we were young.

I know her very well.

I'm certain she will do her part.

I'll go and tell her right now.

I'll thank you for her.

Don't bother.

Who cares if you knew each other before?

[Five Phases Amulet]

That's enough.

Morning. Morning.

- Good morning, Madam. - Good morning, Uncle.

Good morning. Please have a seat.

Did you sleep well?

Eat some more. You have to go to work later.

Okay.

Sir, have some porridge.

Thank you.

Guangyao, Commander Tan called just now.

He wants Wanting to be your foreign secretary.

All formalities have already been completed.

Uncle,

I clearly told Commander Tan to have Wanqing go.

Commander Tan said Wanqing is still mourning for her mother.

And regarding the kidnapping, he feels sorry for Wanqing.

So he thinks it's better to let Wanting be your foreign secretary.

Also to avoid embarrassing everyone.

That Commander Tan. He really went back on his word.

Guangyao, in fact, between Wanqing and Wanting,

whoever is your secretary is fine.

As long as you think you two will cooperate well with one another.

Madam, the Command has very high requirements for a foreign language secretary.

Someone who speaks English, Japanese, and Chinese.

I'm afraid Wanting is not a good choice.

Brother Guangyao, when I was at school, it's true, I wasn't good at studying.

But now I've tried my best to catch up.

Besides, you don't even let me try.

How do you know I can't do it?

Miss Wanting,

this is a job, not a game.

Guangyao, you probably do not know.

Once Wanting works hard, she will do very well.

You should give Wanting a chance, okay?

Brother Guangyao, since Wanting wants to try, let her do it.

I'm tired today and would like to take a rest anyways.

Yes, Wangqing.

You look so exhausted after the past two days.

Since you came back from Japan

and have been busy with your mother's funeral,

you haven't been able to take some rest.

I happened to stew some blood-swallow soup.

I'll send it to you when it's ready. It'll be good for your health.

Thank you, Aunt Cui.

You're welcome.

Brother Guangyao, you should eat some more.

We're going to work later.

I'm full. Enjoy your meal.

Mother. Father. I'm leaving, too.

Brother Guangyao, wait for me!

Brother Guangyao.

Brother Guangyao.

Let me hold the door for you.

Brother Guangyao, come and sit in the back with me.

Drive.

If you are willing to help me,

I will give you 10,000 silver dollars.

20,000 silver dollars.

Tan Si, the tea is a bit bitter today.

I'll go check it out and make a new one.

30,000 silver dollars. Does 30,000 silver dollars work?

Miss Mu, you may leave, please.

50,000 silver dollars. I'll give you 50,000 silver dollars.

Tan Si, pour the tea.

[Defense Command of Shanghai]

Commander, are you going out?

Here comes Miss Fifty Thousand.

Hello?

Isn't this your first day at work?

Why didn't you come?

Stop pretending. I have something to ask you.

Let's meet at the usual place.

Okay.

I was stopped when I was about to go out.

Your sister is going too far.

Stop acting.

Do you know how important it is for me to be a secretary?

Of course, I know.

As a secretary at the Command center,

your status in the Mu family will be totally different.

You still did that after knowing?

Did Mu Wanting pay you?

Not bad.

You guessed it right.

But your sister was being very generous. I had no way to reject her.

Commander Tan,

you're the one who wanted to cooperate with me at the beginning,

and even set ground rules.

The first rule is to trust each other and be consistent.

I can't believe you're ungrateful now because of a little money.

That's not a little money. It's 50,000 silver dollars!

It'll be a waste if I don't take it.

At the time of my mother's wake, I thought you would be a reliable ally.

But I didn't expect you to be so ungrateful so fast.

We shouldn't work with each other. Let's go our separate ways.

[Five Phases Amulet]

[The Supervisor's Office]

[The Business of the Telegraph Office]

Today, your job is to translate those two documents.

Brother Guangyao.

Look, I read the Japanese document for a long time

but I could only understand one sentence.

And this English one. I can't understand it at all.

How about this?

You dictate and I'll take notes.

Sorry. I have many files here. I don't have time today.

Look things up in the dictionary if you don't understand.

Miss Wanting, welcome.

Your arrival has given the Command center a glow.

On behalf of all the men in the Command center,

I extend a warm welcome to you.

Thank you. But let me set things straight.

I'm the secretary of Brother Guangyao, not yours.

Okay.

Since Commander Tan welcomes Miss Wanting so much, you two talk first.

I have something to do.

Why are you leaving so suddenly?

Brother Guangyao, what about this file?

Let me take a look.

[The Business of the Telegraph Office]

This is really hard to translate.

I told him to get a translator from the Commercial Press.

But he has a tender heart for fair ladies.

How about this? Use the dictionary and give me a call if you need anything.

[The Firearms Room]

Supervisor Xu.

This is from our commander. [Supervisor Xu]

What is it?

These are tickets to Miss Gu Yueshuang's film premiere.

He hopes you and Miss Mu Wanqing

- could attend it together. [Ticket to the Grand Theater]

What exactly is your commander up to?

He asked me to tell you,

he will do what he promised you.

But you can't be aggressive

when facing a woman.

You'd better know how to do one thing

under the guise of another.

Your commander has really experienced a lot.

[Urgent]

[An Improved English to Chinese Dictionary]

I told him to get a translator from the Commercial Press.

But he has a tender heart for fair ladies.

Hello, is this the Commercial Press?

Yes.

I need a translator who can translate quickly.

I need one right now.

[Purple Towel]

Brother Guangyao, why are you back?

Today is the premiere of Gu Yueshuang's film.

Commander Tan has given me two tickets.

I'd like to invite you to see it together. [Ticket to the Grand Theater]

What on earth

is Tan Xuanlin trying to do?

Why? Don't you want to go?

I want to go. I'm also a fan of Gu Yueshuang.

I really enjoy watching her movies.

[Return to Your Hometown] [Vanity Fair]

[Defense Command of Shanghai]

Are you Mr. Wei from the Commercial Press?

Yes. Miss,

were you in need of a translator?

Are you good at English and Japanese?

Yes.

I told you. If you do well,

[Mail Box] I can double the price.

And I have work every day.

Well, Miss, am I working inside here?

Send it back when you're done translating.

After two hours, come here and I'll retrieve it.

Here.

[Documents]

Let's go. Stop there!

What are you doing here?

I was here to receive a file.

What file? Show me.

What are you doing?

- Don't move. - Don't move. - What are you guys doing?

You handed over a confidential file out in secret.

You'll have to face military court.

This is what your Supervisor Xu wanted me to translate.

He's the one I asked for help.

I'm the secretary of Supervisor Xu.

We need to lock you up now

until Supervisor Xu gets back.

I'm Supervisor Xu's fiancée.

Are you his secretary or fianceé?

I'm his fiancée and secretary.

Don't you understand?

I see. You're a soldier's wife, aren't you?

What nonsense! You two.

Call Brother Guangyao back right now and tell him straight.

Sorry, Supervisor Xu is not here.

We can't find him either.

You two should come with us first.

- Move. - Go.

- Hurry. - Hurry.

- Go. - Hurry. Go.

[Miss Gu Yueshuang]

[New Film]

Supervisor Xu. Miss Wanqing.

Miss Gu.

Congratulations on the new movie.

Thank you, Supervisor Xu.

Commander Tan, thank you for your tickets.

It's nothing.

Brother Guangyao, let's go inside first.

Let's go.

Please.

It's our turn.

Hello.

- Thank you. - Thank you.

VIP seats in Hall One. It's a loveseat.

Please.

Thank you.

Please.

Who provided them a loveseat?

I did. I've come this far.

Today is the launch of my new movie.

Smile!

Miss Gu. Here. Miss Gu.

Here.

- This way. Miss Gu. - Okay.

Miss Gu.

Junior Marshal Su. Junior Marshal Pei.

Commander Tan is also here.

Mr. Su, thank you for coming in without an invitation.

Miss Gu's new movie is on.

I'm your fan. I've been paying attention.

Old Pei and I are here to support you.

Miss Gu, you'll welcome us. Right?

Of course.

Come. Provide Junior Marshal Su and Junior Marshal Pei

a loveseat.

Let's go.

Let's go. [Fairy Sending Flowers]

Please. Please.

A loveseat.

[The Singing Girls of Shanghai]

Miss Gu is so pretty.

Yeah.

- Have you seen her films before? - Nope.

Young Uncle, are you jealous?

So you pulled a stunt on Mr. Su?

No.

- Excellent acting. - Yeah.

It's great.

Please enjoy the movie, okay?

Fine.

I'll go to the bathroom.

I need to go to the bathroom.

Old Pei.

Sorry, Brother.

I have to put love before friendship this time.

Mr. Su, that's someone's seat.

Nobody's here, right?

I'll say a few words and leave.

[Bathroom]

I told you to go your separate way. Why are you stopping me?

Today,

you left this and I found it.

I told you I didn't want it.

I've been curious. Why did you throw it away after arguing with me?

I was in a bad mood, so I threw it away.

You didn't put a spell on me, did you?

You really got a suspicious mind.

I found it, so it's mine.

I'll go back and study it,

I'll deal with you after I know what it is.

Crazy.

I'm not as good as him?

When it comes to family, talent, and appearance,

he has no advantage over me.

I really don't know you well, Mr. Su.

Please leave.

What are you going to do this time?

Nothing.

I swear.

I'm not lying to you this time.

I'm here to give you a present.

We're done talking here. I have to go.

Move.

She's still not interested in me.

This Gu Yueshuang

is definitely my failure in love.

You've seen so many of her movies

but made no progress at all.

How do you know?

Old Pei, I really got hurt.

I need your consolation.

Get lost.

[Correct Your Mistake. Know Courtesy and Shame]

Miss, I was really unlucky picking your job today.

How dare you ask an outsider to translate that confidential file?

Even if you don't fear death, I do.

The seal was so small. Who could see it clearly?

Besides, if I had known it was a confidential file,

I wouldn't have asked for your help.

When your boss comes, you have to make things clear.

Don't get me into military court.

What court? He is my fiancée.

Wait and see.

When Brother Guangyao comes,

he will definitely punish those two guys for me.

But it's getting late.

How come your fiancé hasn't come back yet?

Somebody get in here! Come here!

I need to see Brother Guangyao. Is anybody here?

Don't shout. I told you Supervisor Xu is not here. Stay there.

How dare you shout at me? Wait, I will punish you later.

[Cathay Theater] Here. Take it. Thank you.

Sir, buy a flower for madam.

Each flower is one dollar.

Okay, I'll pick this one.

How can you call such a pretty girl "madam"?

You should call her "sister."

Little kid, you know a lot about business.

Here. I'll take all these flowers.

- Here you are. - Thank you, Young Uncle.

Here.

Here's the money. Keep the change.

Including Supervisor Xu's flower.

Thank you, Uncle.

Go.

Commander Tan, you got a bouquet of flowers.

But I only got this one here. It's quite fit for the scene.

So as I said you're a cultured person.

I'm a rough guy and I don't know how to say nice things.

But what I do know is, if the beauty likes it, the more the better.

It seems that Commander Tan does not know

the sense of cherishing the only thing he likes.

Thank you for your flower, Brother Guangyao. I like it a lot.

In that case, I shall leave you two alone.

I'll leave first. See you at the Command center tomorrow.

Let's go.

It's so pretty.

[Far East Hotel]

Brother Guangyao!

Sorry, Miss Wanting.

My men are such fools. They didn't know you. I'm sorry you were wronged.

Yeah, exactly. Those two guards are so clueless.

They shut me in there without saying a word.

Commander Tan, you should teach your men well.

Of course, I'll teach them.

Listen.

Do you hear that? They are being punished right now.

Okay.

But how come you are here?

Where is Brother Guangyao?

Do you mean Supervisor Xu?

He seems to have gone to the film premiere with Miss Wanqing.

The movie should be over by now.

What? To watch a movie?

Didn't you know?

Miss Wanqing is a fan of Gu Yueshuang,

so Guangyao asked me for two VIP tickets.

I think it was the loveseat, too.

Miss Wanting!

Please go back, Mr. Wei.

Don't tell anyone about what happened today.

You may stop. It might still be needed tonight.

Yes, Sir!

Oh, you...

Military secrets should be kept confidential.

How can you not understand that?

Mother, I worked hard all day there.

I didn't even have lunch.

But that bitch went to the movie premiere with Brother Guangyao.

I worked all day long, but she took advantage of it.

What's the use of me?

Are you still blaming others?

You do things without thinking.

Please.

What are you going to do?

You.

Are you going to fight with Mu Wanqing? You—

You screwed everything up.

Do you want Xu Guangyao to see your mistake?

Mother, I worked all day and went to jail.

Yet, they could stay together? I quit.

Screw being his secretary. Screw his Command center.

I'll never go there anymore!

It's better if you don't go there.

On your first day at work,

you make a huge mistake by leaking military secrets.

If time goes on, I don't know what other mistakes you will make.

If Governor Xu finds out, how can you have a good image?

Well, wouldn't it be cheaper to let that little bitch go?

She'll spend every day with Brother Guangyao.

The Command is a military agency.

She will go to work as a secretary. She has to work.

Do you think she's going to date someone there?

Forget it, I won't go anymore.

Well, you! You're foolish.

It was 50,000 silver dollars in exchange for one day of work at the Command.

It was all for nothing!

Please, Miss Secretary.

Yes, Sir.

[Defense Command of Shanghai]

[Make every effort for national prosperity]

Miss Wanqing, welcome.

I would appreciate your guidance later.

You give me a great honor.

You're the secretary Supervisor asked for. Of course, I'll take care of you.

I have also prepared a special office for you.

Even Miss Wanting didn't get such treatment.

Let's go. Let me show you.
