The Imperial DoctressEpisode 22

All the traditional herbal therapies and prescriptions are only intended for usage in this drama. Please do not test or imitate.

Now, Consort Dowager Wu is also not causing trouble anymore.

This way is good.

Also, your marriage with Qiyu

is all prepared

It's not that quick, yet.

Although Consort Dowager accepted me,

but she still wants to let Prince Cheng marry a main wife.

She's dreaming.

If I didn't favour Qiyu so much, I would have gotten rid of her a long time ago.

You better not let those Eastern Depot guys come up with some bad ideas.

Don't you worry. It's not those methods.

I know Consort Dowager is afraid of things like ghosts.

I plan to find some Eunuchs to act like ghosts to scare her.

Act like the Previous Emperor Dowager or the Previous Empress Dowager, she'll definitely be so scared.

One kind of idea is that?

Letting a eunuch dress like the Previous Emperor. If this thing gets known by Empress Dowager,

She will scold you.

I just want to scare her.

Right, Yunxian,

in the future, no matter what happens,

stop avoiding me already, okay?

You must remember, when I am in front of you, I am Zheng Qi

not the Emperor, okay?

And also, you promised to watch fireworks with me.

You can't go back on your word.

Okay.

When the time comes, you'll bring Qian jiejie, and I'll bring Qiyu.

Okay. Whatever you say.

It's decided then.

You really can't go back on your word.

Then that's good.

♫ I only want to protect you, ♫

♫ so don't hesitate ♫

♫ We are only a breath apart ♫

Your Highness is back already? Your Highness.

Your Highness. Your Highness!

Is Official Hang feeling better?

Don't talk to me.

I want to be alone for a while.

♫ It's hard to console me ♫

♫ Though I am disappointed, I pretend to be enthusiastic ♫

♫ Yet I cannot escape the palm of your hand ♫

♫ Though my heart aches, I cannot stop ♫

♫ When the winter sets in, the pain is numb ♫

♫ Whatever I cannot possess ♫

As you wish. Okay?

♫I instead choose to care for you in secret ♫

♫ Since I am disappointed already, there is no need to face reality ♫

♫ All my love belongs to you ♫

♫ All my pain belongs to you as well ♫

♫ I have decided ♫

Xiao Ma'zi.

I am here.

Ask to meet Official Yang of the Imperial Guards.

Tell him I want to

meet him in private tomorrow night.

Yes.

Master, that's all that happened.

So that's what happened between him and the Emperor.

Great.

Great. You may get your reward from the housekeeper.

Initially, I thought of just letting Your Majesty and Prince Cheng

have some misunderstanding.

But never thought that this is a very good opportunity.

What opportunity?

Meilin, do you still want to be Empress?

If Prince Cheng wants to be Emperor.

But, Empress Dowager doesn't have this thought.

If Empress Dowager and the Emperor get into a fight again,

Prince Cheng and the Emperor don't get along,

then, our opportunity will be stronger.

Your Majesty, the officers of the Inner Palace have their own responsibility.

How can you change it just like that?

The reason the Previous Emperor established the Imperial Pharmacy

is to dispense medicines.

If the Medicine Bureau can accept consults

and the Imperial Pharmacy can also do consults, won't that cause confusion?

Prime Minister, you're overthinking.

Didn't I just said

that after expanding the powers of the Imperial Pharmacy, they still will not mind matters concerning the Concubines and Consorts.

They will just focus on treating small illnesses of eunuchs and maid servants.

Everyone respect and admires Your Majesty's sacred heart.

But...one must always act according to rules.

If the Imperial Pharmacy can also examine and diagnose,

doesn't it mean then that the Ministry of Defense can also assemble soldiers without going through the Guard Station?

Right...that's reasonable...

So, requesting Your Majesty,

not to easily believe the words of a woman.

The rules of the ancestors must not be easily changed.

Right...

Fine, fine, fine!

Isn't it just a small matter? Why do you guys have a lot of opinions?

How about this. I won't get funds from the Ministry of Revenue.

Get it from my personal fund. Is that okay already?

Your Majesty, it's not a problem of where the funds will come from.

Since Empress Dowager left you sole power in court matters, you keep doing things your own way.

If it continues this way, the country will become like not a country.

We must remember the government's guiding principles. We shouldn't easily change them.

ENOUGH!

I'm already decided. You guys should stop talking anymore.

Your Majesty, an honest advice is unpleasant to the ear.

How can you favor an Inner Palace Lady Officer

and cause disorder in our ancestor's regulations.

Right...

Where did you hear those rumors?

Your subject is willing to risk my life to state my advice. Hope Your Majesty will accept it.

I heard that there's an Inner Palace lady officer named Minister Hang

who uses the fact that Your Majesty favors her and commit outrages.

Since she started heading the Inner Palace Imperial Pharmacy,

her actions are against etiquette.

Frequently have skin contact with Eunuchs.

- She give palace eunuchs... - This is such a scandal!

dressing changes in private areas of the body.

Such obscene acts, I've never heard them in my whole life until now.

Your Majesty is already of age but still has no Royal children.

It must be because you are

bewitched by that demonic girl.

Shut up!

Lady Officer Hang is a benevolent medicine practitioner.

She treats every patient as the same.

How come when it comes out from your mouths it becomes very cheap?!

Wang De Chao, you unlawfully insulted a lady officer of the Palace.

Such heart should be punished to death. Drag him out and give him 50 floggings.

I won't accept it. I am the Minister of Censorship. I have the privilege to report rumors.

How can Your Majesty bully a High Minister because of a girl?

Add another 50 floggings! Drag him out!

Wait.

If Your Majesty must proceed in punishing him, please flog me too.

I heard that Your Majesty plans to grant that girl the title

of Prince Cheng's Consort. Miss Hang is just new in the Palace but she has caused trouble everywhere.

Hence, she lacks morality and good conduct.

You must not make this girl a consort of Prince Cheng.

Hope Your Majesty can think about it more.

Do not let the disaster brought upon by Madam Hua Rui

to be repeated.

We all agree.

Fine...!

You all want to go against me?

All want to go against me, right?

You can!

- Wang Zhen - I'm here.

Take all those who are kneeling out and flog them 50 times each.

Yes.

Your Majesty...you must not...

Your Majesty, please think about it again.

Your Majesty, think about it again.

STOP!

Your Majesty, are you crazy?

Just for a woman,

you wanted to flog half of your court subjects?

Mother, you've already been resting well,

these kinds of situations, care about them less.

If I don't care about these situations,

then you might have done matters of making fool out of others over lies.

I do don't interfere with court matters anymore.

But I tell you, if you keep making a mess,

I can resume ruling behind the curtains.

About the discussion on the expansion of the Imperial Pharmacy, it stops now.

Anyone who's against it will be put to death.

Empress Dowager is brilliant.

Everyone's dismissed.

Thank you, Empress Dowager.

Come back! You all come back!

Your Majesty.

- This shop is indeed not bad. - That's right.

Previously, I had to trouble you to let me borrow your clothes. This time, I have to trouble you again.

But whatever you find out,

absolutely must not let anyone else know.

Actually no need to investigate.

Your Highness, I know who she is.

You know?

During the epidemic, I used to protect His Majesty and went to Yongqing Convent in incognito.

At that time everyone was talking how

His Majesty would even risk his life for her.

Later, something bad happened to her,

His Majesty frequently went to the Hang Manor in the middle of the night and visit her grave.

I'm not the only one who knows these things.

Many guards know. If you don't believe me, you will know once you ask any of them.

Your Highness, we have known each other since we were kids

so I want to give you an advice.

If your feelings for this woman is not deep yet,

I advise you to keep a distance from her.

I'm afraid she's not a good person.

Impossible.

She can't be that kind of person.

Your Highness! Your Highness, not good!

Empress Dowager vomited blood!

What happened?

Official Hang wants to extend the Imperial Pharmacy,

but somehow angered the ministers instead.

Quite a few people are badmouthing her,

saying she doesn't deserve to be your princess consort.

His Majesty turned the court upside down for her.

After Consort Dowager heard of this,

she... she vomited blood!

Your Highness

Mother. Mother!

Mother, what happened to you?

Supervisor Cheng, what is wrong with my mother?

Replying to Your Highness. Due to anger attack,

Her Highness suddenly vomited blood.

Mother, wake up.

I am Yu'er.

Yu'er.

I'm not trying to separate you two.

There have been many complaints about Miss Hang in court.

They say that she's a loose woman who has lost her purity, sinful and wicked.

If you marry her,

how can I face your father in the afterlife?

Mother, don't get mad.

It's just a misunderstanding. It really is just a misunderstanding.

No.

Mother, don't cry, okay?

Don't cry, okay?

I clearly want to save more people.

How could it turn into a disaster?

Now even His Majesty is implicated by me.

You are sometimes smart and other times not so bright.

To put it in a good way, you're honest and brave.

In the bad sense, you're just impetuous.

Everyone knows about the Emperor's bad temper.

Yet you still bother him.

Just because you're acquainted with him,

you get involved in everything, only wanting to appease yourself,

while not thinking about the consequences.

I didn't.

You didn't?

Think carefully. If it weren't for the Emperor,

would the Imperial Medical Bureau allow you to take the entrance exam?

Would you have been able to enter the Imperial Medical Bureau?

You're unwittingly ordering the emperor around.

The Empress doesn't even dare to do that.

I am too impetuous.

Prince Cheng has arrived.

Qiyu.

I really just want to save more people.

Those officials don't even know me. Why would they say those things about me?

It's not like what you think.

But don't worry, I'm here.

Ding Xiang, you can leave first.

The situation is out of control.

What should we do?

Actually this matter

is not as simple as extending the Imperial Pharmacy.

The court officials are actually unsatisfied with

how the Emperor is currently dealing with politics.

They're using you as an excuse to express their opinions.

And you just happened to sit on this fiery pit.

Therefore,

the best way to handle this matter

is to not get involved.

Resign from your position

and leave the palace. Stay away from these matters,

okay?

Resign?

I can't do that now.

The investigation for my family is not done yet.

There's also Qian jiejie. I've agreed to help her conceive a little emperor.

Are these things more important than our wedding?

I feel that ever since you went to the Imperial Pharmacy,

you think less and less about me.

I know you love medicine as much as your own life,

but you must think of my feelings. Think of my mother's feelings.

When you chose to examine the eunuchs without a second thought,

have you ever thought that I would feel uncomfortable?

When you went to Qianqing Palace at night,

have you ever thought about whether it was proper?

Qiyu, do you also... believe those rumors?

I don't believe them,

but you must also do something to make me believe you.

That night I saw with my own eyes you two chatting with arms around each other.

Moreover, others have also told me,

when you were at Yongqing Convent, the Emperor went to see you almost every day.

Even if right now I believe there's nothing going on between you two,

other people don't think that way.

Today,

the officials even mentioned the story of Madam Huarui as a comparison.

Yunxian, at this time

can you not be so stubborn?

Listen to me for once, okay?

Who is Madam Huarui?

She was the woman loved by both

Emperor Taizu and his brother Emperor Taizong, causing the latter to kill Taizu for the throne.

Zhu Qiyu, what did you say?

Yes,

His Majesty did go to Yongqing Convent, but I didn't tell you because I was afraid you would misunderstand.

But at that time, next to me was either Abbess Jingci or Zisu.

Even Empress believes that there's nothing going on between me and His Majesty.

I didn't expect... I didn't expect you to doubt me.

I... I misspoke for a moment.

Yunxian...

Ding Xiang.

Your Highness, the day is not young anymore.

My lady needs to rest.

Please leave.

Yunxian.

I don't want to see you right now.

Passing on Empress Dowager's order.

Doctress Lady Hang to immediately present herself to Renshou Palace.

Greetings, Your Highness.

Read the order.

Lady Official Miss Han interfered with official court matters and is against ancestral rules.

Immediately granted a cup of wine to warn against others from following such bad example.

This is the order.

Your Highness!

Your Highness, I haven't done anything wrong!

I really didn't do anything wrong!

I initially wanted to grant you to be a Lesser Princess Consort.

But just because of you, Your Majesty didn't care to offend court ministers.

If I allow you to live longer, won't you eventually become a woman that brings disaster?

The Empress has arrived!

Take off your hands!

Mother, please don't be angry. I can vouch that Doctor Hang

isn't a seductress.

I beg you to spare her just because she was able to cure your illness before.

Please let her go.

I already considered the fact that she has done merits, hence, decided to allow her to have an intact corpse.

How many years?

I didn't kill anyone. Today, however,

For the country, I must do this.

What are you waiting for? Get it done!

Mother, you can't!

Mother, I beg you!

My Lady!

My Lady is bleeding!

Let me take a look!

My Lady!

Your Highness, wake up.

Don't... Don't kill Yunxian...

Qian jiejie, do you still recognize me?

How is she?

Let me look at the other one.

What actually happened to her?

Let me take a look again.

Hurry, say what actually is wrong with her.

Your Highness, please quickly find imperial physicians to come over.

I believe Empress is pregnant.

What?!

Mother, pharmacist Hang has been taking care of my body.

If I'm apart from her,

the royal fetus definitely won't make it.

Mother, you absolutely must not...

-My Lady. -Hurry and call imperial physicians.

My Lady!

Your Majesty! Your Majesty.

Your Majesty, something bad happened to Empress.

How is it?

Congratulations, Your Majesty!

Your Lady Highness' pulse flow is very fluent.

It's no doubt a sign of pregnancy.

I'm having a child. I'm having a child.

Hurry, give rewards!

Your Majesty, it's just that Your Lady Highness pulse is also slippery and weak. Maybe it's because her pregnancy is only at its early stages.

Just now, she just had an incident

so Empress must take good care of her health.

Otherwise, she might have a miscarriage.

Had an accident?

Ru Xiang, what happened?

Your Majesty...

Say it!

Mother. Mother, don't kill Yunxian.

Don't kill Yunxian. Mother,

don't.

My Lady.

Mother, you want to kill Yunxian?

She intervened with politics and seduced the Emperor. Why can't I kill her?

As long as I'm here, no one can even think of killing Yunxian!

Today, seeing as Empress is pregnant,

I'll spare her for the time being.

Can be considered doing good for the sake of the royal baby.

Mother, then I also will say one word.

If something were to happen to Yunxian,

I also won't spare Princess Anhe.

-Your Majesty! -Yunxian

Yunxian!

Yunxian.

It's fine.

Yunxian, don't cry, don't cry.

It's my fault. This time it's my fault.

I won't get angry at you randomly again.

Let's make up, okay?

Don't cry.

Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry.

Don't cry.

It's all my bad.

Don't cry.

Qian jiejie, you must take good care of your health.

Is it still painful?

It's not the least bit painful. I can't be compared to pain.

You don't know, but before, when my father hit me, it hurt even more.

He used a whip on me.

Enough, this is not good to talk about.

Hurry, take your medication.

If you want to talk with Qian jiejie in private, just say it.

Don't look for an excuse.

She really is no ordinary lady.

She herself clearly was frightened,

but she still thought of a way to comfort me.

Here.

This time, I got pregnant is all because of her.

Empress, I must thank for protecting her all this time.

In the future, Your Majesty no longer needs to thank me.

I only...

only treat her like a sister.

I know.

Right now I

only hope our son will be born soon.

After he is born,

I'll declare him as Crown Prince.

It's only over one month old, how would you know it's a son?

My word is absolute. I say a son, so it's a son.

Once he's born, I'll give him a peaceful and wealthy country

waiting for him to inherit it.

Let me.

You can leave first.

Does it still hurt?

I said those words before because I was angry.

When I hear others slander you, I get really angry inside.

I won't be like this anymore in the future.

Yunxian,

forgive me, okay?

It's too dangerous in the palace right now.

Let's hurry and go to Chengzhou.

Wait until Qian jiejie's fetus looks stable,

then we'll leave immediately.

Okay.

Grandmother and father-in-law will come just in time in a few days.

We will leave this place together.

We won't get tangled in this bloodbath anymore.

Qiyu.

I was really afraid just now.

Afraid if I was a step too late,

I wouldn't be able to see you anymore.

Your Highness,

This time, although we didn't eliminate Miss Hang,

you should still come out of retirement and take charge of the situation.

I did say that in court,

but in history,

there's no Empress Dowager who resurfaced in the court again after giving full power already.

Today Emperor has a child.

I must bear a little even if I am not satisfied.

Since you control the Ministry of Revenue, and the military is in my hands,

even if the Emperor torments us again, he won't be able to cause any big trouble.

Your Highness, you appease the Emperor too much.

Today, because of a woman, he got into a big argument

with the Ministers. Tomorrow, because of something else,

he might brandish a sword at you.

Then I

will also say one word

If something were to happen to Yunxian,

I also

wouldn't spare Princess Anhe.

Your Highness, we cannot keep the Emperor anymore.

This country needs a new Emperor.

Isn't Prince Cheng back to health now?

Should we try our previous plan?

Support Prince Cheng again?

Now that Prince Cheng is at odds with the Emperor

because of Miss Hang,

we should find a good opportunity to draw him to our side.

No.

If I want to kill Miss Hang,

and Prince Cheng is treating her like this,

then he and I cannot be on the same path.

But since the Empress is pregnant,

As long we're sure it's a son,

we still don't need the Emperor.

At that time, I can similarly use

my title as Empress Dowager

to control the throne.

Yes, Your Highness.

Your Majesty! Spare me! Your Majesty!

Your Majesty!

Leave!

No! Your Majesty, spare me!

Your Majesty, Your Majesty!

The entire disturbance was plotted by Duke Wang.

He's going into a frenzy because of Princess Anhe.

What a good man Duke Wang is.

Your Majesty.

The motive of the Empress Dowager's move in court yesterday

is all too clear.

Firstly, it was to prove your reputation as a selfish ruler.

Secondly, it was to sow discord between you and Prince Cheng. Thirdly, it was to depose you,

and appoint Prince Cheng.

Wang Ban Ban...

you say the Empress Dowager

is being played by Duke Wang. I believe it.

The Empress Dowager hasn't done anything recently.

It's just that,

don't you think you are thinking too much?

Your Majesty.

Do you still believe the Empress Dowager treats you like her own son?

Only Princes Anhe carries her flesh and blood.

What won't she stop at?

Yesterday, behind your back,

she could have killed Minister Hang. What about tomorrow?

If she hadn't pushed, the baby

that the Empress is carrying

wouldn't have been in danger.

Your Majesty.

You can't even protect those by your side.

Do you still that the world is at peace?

I can't even protect the people by my side?

Then in your opinion, what should I do?

Make your move first.

The Empress Dowager can harm people.

Our Eastern Depot has poison.

No.

As long as the Empress Dowager doesn't kill me,

I can't commit matricide.

Now that the key is in Duke Wang's hands,

as long as dispose of him,

it'll be like the Empress Dowager losing an arm.

It's fine that we didn't topple the Empress Dowager this time.

If something happens to Duke Wang,

won't she mourn for him?

You are insightful.

This matter must be done cleanly.

We must not let any of those officers get any evidence.

Don't worry.

Duke Wang has offended many officials during his years at court.

Between them,

if there are 1 or 2 descendants who will try to seek revenge,

is also logical.

That is right.

During the past few days,

there was nothing happening between the Empress Dowager and Your Majesty.

Hence, the Eastern Depot has lost its use.

And instead, Yu Dongyang and Prince Cheng became more favored.

The only way to keep the Emperor by our side is to make him feel unsafe.

But if the Empress Dowager really gets defeated, won't we become useless again?

By that time, based on the Emperor's mood,

would I be controlling only this small Eastern Depot?

There a eunuch during the Song Dynasty called Qin Han.

He was able to become a General, a Commander.

Director, that's brilliant!

I'm feeling much better.

His Majesty doesn't trust anyone now,

and only lets you come to take care of me.

Troubling you.

My life was saved by Qian jiejie.

This small thing doesn't even compare.

Yunxian,

when there is an opportunity, talk to His Majesty.

No matter what, Liu Ping'an is still trustworthy.

Empress, how do you feel today?

I feel much better today.

This wound on my head will dry soon.

That's good. When your body is better,

I'll take you to walk outside.

I heard pregnant women must walk around a lot to be healthy.

Okay! What puts Your Majesty in such a good mood today?

No reason.

If you have news, say it. It'll make Qian jiejie happy. T/N: "-jiejie" is an endearing term used to address older females

All right then.

I'll tell you.

Do you know why the court officials criticized you that day?

The mastermind was Duke Wang.

He was trying to push Wang Meilin toward Qiyu

while causing problems in your relationship with Qiyu.

He's also the reason why Empress Dowager wanted to kill you.

Have you thought of what to do next?

Yes.

The Eastern Depot is prepared.

They'll kill him when he leaves the Ministry of Revenue.

You can't, Your Majesty. If you kill Duke Wang, the Empress Dowager will become suspicious.

Don't worry, I'm all prepared. There won't be any issues on Empress Dowager's side.

Your Majesty, you mustn't. If you kill Duke Wang, there will be chaos in court.

The court officials aren't blind. How would they not see the connection?

Isn't that enough? Court matters are not your business.

I've made up my mind. You should go rest.

Your Majesty, you mustn't go.

I'm the Empress. It's my duty to convince you.

-Your Majesty! -It's none of your concern!

Qian jiejie! T/N: "-jiejie" is an endearing term used to address older females

Empress

Qian jiejie! T/N: "-jiejie" is an endearing term used to address older females

How is she?

I'm checking. Stop talking.

Alright.

How is she?

Fortunately, she isn't bleeding.

Empress.

I'm sorry.

I didn't mean to.

I know. I don't blame you.

It's just, Your Majesty.

Duke Wang has been in charge of the Ministry of Revenue for so long.

It's easy for you to kill him, but who will take over the Ministry of Revenue?

(Yun Lai Hotel)

Just the tax, the country's treasury,

no one can manage it better than him.

When there is chaos in court,

isn't that giving Empress Dowager the reason to resume interfering in governance?

Your Majesty, I beg you.

You mustn't act rashly.

No matter what, we must focus on the long term plan.

I promise you.

I'm not going anymore. I won't go.

Your Majesty.

The ministers of the court have always misunderstood you.

We mustn't act rashly in anything.

Even...

even if it's for the sake of

our child.

I promise you.

Whatever you say,

I'll promise you. All right?
