Fire!

No need to fear. Aim and fire!

Oh my goodness!

Gosh, it's so frightening!

Unyun, get over here. Quick!

What are you doing here?

Can't you tell? We should move these rocks to the castle.

You useless thing!

Have you not heard of the firelock(gun)?

If you go about like that, you'll get shot and be killed.

Is that what you want, huh?

It's no use. You go there and hide.

Gyum is fighting against the pirates. I'm going!

Over my dead body! No, Unyun, no!

Let me go!

Listen to me, Unyun!

It is not safe out here, Your Highness. Please come inside.

No, I'm fine. Do not worry about me.

Prince!

What kind of a King deserts his people?

How can he be called a king without his people?

Your Majesty, please forgive us

for failing to find a place that matches your dignity.

I am the King, on the run, who failed to serve his people.

Even on the street, I would deserve it.

Absolutely not, Your Majesty.

Please show mercy and forgive our incompetence.

Show mercy, Your Majesty.

Your Highness!

What is it?

The Prince has just fainted.

What?

Prince.

Prince, please wake up!

Prince, please wake up!

Prince, please wake up!

Come on, my boy. Please open your eyes!

What becomes of my boy?

Tell me. What's wrong with him?

What made him faint all of a sudden?

The Royal Physician must elaborate on his condition.

Were you not the one who guaranteed us

that the Prince could sustain the trip to Weeju!

Please do not be concerned, Your Majesty.

Prince fainted because of severe fever.

But he will recover soon with decoction and acupuncture.

Can I take your word?! Can I?!

Yes, Your Majesty.

If there is any misfortune upon my Prince,

there is no way you will get away from my punishment!

At your word, Your Majesty.

Sir, I was told the Prince is seriously unwell.

The Prince was not physically strong.

It's a temporary fever, due to a long travel.

But don't you deem it weird?

If it is a fever, he should recover by now.

I fear something else has caused his symptom to worsen.

Isn't there a possibility of an endemic you're unaware of?

Nonsense!

You watch your mouth and just follow this prescription.

I will, sir.

Isn't there a possibility of an endemic you're unaware of?

Make haste, quick!

The Royal Physician must feel terrible within.

I see, sir.

The karma between you and Doctor Yoo seems very strong.

You two have come all the way here together.

Do you still have him on your mind?

Sir!

I was only teasing you.

Did you not bring the medical books and the memo...

...the lord physician had brought during the flight to Weeju?

Did you not say we should reduce travel gear as much as possible?

Therefore, I left them all at Pyungyang castle.

Why are you seeking them?

It's nothing.

If there is any misfortune caused upon my Prince

there is no way you will get away from my punishment!

Sir.

I would like to be alone.

- Yes, sir. Nurse. - Yes, ma'am.

Junghwa.

She doesn't want to have the gruel.

He should be fed some milk.

How about yours?

Don't act like you don't know me.

Why don't you let me hold Junghwa?

What for?

I have an idea. Here.

Look at my son. What a strong kid!

- Yangtae. - Yes?

I'd like to have a word with you.

What's the occasion with you holding Junghwa like that?

There is something I must ask of you.

What is it?

You ask your wife for some milk.

So that my Junghwa can be fed.

What?

He cannot swallow the gruel and he might die soon.

Please consider.

I know how things are with you, but...

Don't be so stingy. He is just an infant.

Don't I know it! And you know it better.

My wife hasn't had much food recently.

So she only has the amount to feed our Jangsu.

So you mean you cannot share?

I do understand your situation, but I can't help it.

I didn't know you were this stingy.

All I ask is for one of your wife's breasts!

Curse you!

I don't need your dirty milk!

Sir.

Let me hold Junghwa.

Yoowol...

What are you waiting for?

Thank you.

- Have some rice balls. - Thank you.

- Gyum. - Mother.

Have some rice balls with me. Let's have a seat there.

Yes, Mother.

Are you hurt?

No.

Your father is all tied up looking after wounded soldiers.

Do you still have pent-up feelings against your father?

When he lived in Sanum,

he was once expelled by his master, Doctor Yoo.

He resorted to drinking to soothe his devastated mind.

He lived like a dead person.

I carried you around on my back

and struggled to sustain my family. Along with my mother

selling arrowroot on the streets in the town.

And your father left me and your grandmother without a word.

I didn't know what to do.

My belief in him shattered and I felt so resented.

When I was told he was staying at Julgang, near Sanum,

I went to see him myself.

In that freezing weather, walking down the mountain path

I kept pledging to myself.

If I get to see him again, I will pour out all the resentment I had, on him.

I will ask how inconsiderate he can be to his own family.

But I couldn't.

Do you know why?

When I finally arrived in Julgang...

I saw your father

looking after the wounded from a mine cave-in.

Upon seeing him tending to the patients with all his heart,

all the resentment I had towards him melted at once.

That scene was the most beautiful. And, I was the

most proud of him since I first met him.

Since that day, no matter how difficult it has been...

I had deep respect for him.

Your father believes what he does, is the most precious

and the most valuable task. More than anyone in the world.

Thus, I believe it was the same for him in this evacuation.

So I ask you to shake off your disappointments in him.

Since that day, no matter how difficult it has been...

I had deep respect for him.

Your father believes what he does is the most precious...

and the most valuable task. More than anyone in the world,

Sir.

You're having a tough night.

Oh, our soldiers spying on the pirates' movements,

have carried a man on their back to the castle.

Before fainting, the man said he's the Royal Physician.

He's seriously injured and on the way up here.

So please take a look.

Let me take a look.

Sanghwa!

Prince... Prince!

- Where is the decoction! - It's being prepared.

When was the last time I told you to prepare it!

- Do I have to wait any longer? - It's on its way, sir.

- Let me do it. - Give it to me!

Prince! Prince!

Wake up, Prince!

Prince! Prince! Open your eyes!

Prince! Prince!

What is it?

When was it?

Not too long.

Prince... Prince!

Your Majesty, I believe you have to make a decision.

For now, we must escape to Ming and seek security.

To maintain your safety is the only way to save the country.

I have sent the messenger to Ming asking for backup forces.

So let us wait a little while for their answer.

Your Majesty! Your Majesty!

Come in.

Your Majesty, it's an emergency!

What is it?

The Prince is gravely ill.

Prince!

What has become of it?

I asked you what it has become ...

He passed away.

It can't be! How can this be!?

Examine his pulse. Do it again!

I ordered you to feel his pulse!

Prince... my son!

Please kill me, Your Highness.

You cannot just leave me here alone.

Open your eyes... my son...

Don't leave here like that.

You cannot just do that to your mother.

Open your eyes!

Prince, my boy!

Please, don't leave me.

I cannot live without my son. You have to wake up.

Wake up, my son.

Please order them to kill me!

You have to kill me, Your Majesty.

Sanghwa!

Do you see where you are?

Sir.

Lie down.

No, I'm okay.

Here, have some decoction.

Tell me what happened.

I only remember I was shot and fell down.

When I woke up, I was lying down alone on the ferry.

Then I realized the bullet had passed by my neck.

Since then, my only determination was

to reach the castle.

You've been brave.

Your sacrifice saved all of us, but we were heart-broken.

Nothing can compare to your grace,

when you saved my life at Samjuk Temple.

Sir. Lord!

The pirates are attacking again.

Gyum!

- Gyum! - Gyum!

- Carry him on your back! - Yes.

Get out of the way! Get out of the way!

Gyum!

Joon, Joon!

Gyum has been shot!

Lie him down!

Gyum...

Gyum! Gyum!

Stop crying!

Sir!

Prince wants to see you right now.

Prince, it's the Royal Physician.

Send him in.

Please be seated.

I'm fine, sir.

Prince, is there something wrong?

The Prince had just passed away.

Prince!

You must leave for Weeju now.

They said my father is unwell to boot.

Prince.

Pack your belongings and go.

Yes, I will.

Does your family mean nothing to you, Father?

How can you be so unconcerned towards them?

Gyum...

You couldn't care less about your family.

Everything on your mind is only work.

Hasn't it ever occurred to you...

...how much grandmother and mother have suffered?

Hang in there, Gyum.

Joon! What becomes of our Gyum!

It's not serious, so do not be so concerned.

- Gyum... - Father.

I fear that I cannot live up to your expectation as father.

I must leave for Weeju now.

What are you saying, Joon?

Where are you going with your son hurting like this?

Joon!

His Majesty, in Weeju, is gravely ill.

It is my duty to protect the safety of His Majesty.

Then, what should we do about our Gyum?

Joon...

Father, do not mind me and leave.

I have faith in you that you do the most precious

and valuable task; more than anyone in the world.

Please go.

And please look after the safety of His Majesty.

Gyum...

I will never have resentment against you.

Do not worry about me and just leave.

Gyum.

It will not be easy to get out of the castle,

as the pirates thickly surround the walls.

These are the soldiers who will escort you to Weeju.

You, do not worry about your son.

We will take good care of him.

I appreciate it.

We must leave now.

- I'm leaving. - Take care.

Are you okay?

It's nothing. Just a light cut.

It won't work.

We'll take care of those guys and you hurry your way.

Go straight this way and you'll see the wide path.

Then go straight that way and you'll find Weeju.

Make haste.

Will I be alive and well?

Your Majesty.

I will wholeheartedly focus on looking after your illness.

I assure you of your recovery.

Please have faith.

- How is His Majesty? - Majesty's totally listless.

Please elaborate.

He's suffered from worries and resentment.

And the long journey further worsened his condition.

Now, the Prince has die. So, the illness struck suddenly.

Is there a way to rejuvenate him?

I will do my utmost.

Weak points consist of the weak Yang, from weakened spirit.

And the weak Yin from weakened bloods.

Either one of these symptoms is easy to cure.

But both of them at the same time... it's dangerous.

And His Majesty...

Displays these two symptoms altogether.

His spirit in the heart and nose is especially weak.

Thus, one should be extremely sensitive in acupuncturing.

First, we should refill his weakened yin and yang

with Chunwangbosimdan and Gwibitang.

I need Chun Wang Bosim Dan. Please prepare the decoction.

Yes, sir.

I will supervise the decoction part.

There is something I must ask you.

By all means, Sir.

What has become of Doctor Yoo?

Doctor Yoo

is locked in prison.

He was the one who drove the Prince to death.

Even if he survives, his post in the court is gone.

You saw my misery now. Please go away.

Sir. Something came up.

There is not much herb left for His Majesty's decoction.

What about the herbs brought from Pyongyang castle?

Only a little is left for Chun Wang Bosim Dan.

Nothing's left for Gwibitang.

These herbs are hard to obtain at this time.

How much herb is left for Chun Wang Bosim Dan?

About 3 days worth.

For now, use them for the decoction.

I will figure out how to get more of those herbs.

Here is the decoction.

- Is it the last decoction? - It is.

I'm here.

Did you get the herbs?

Not for those that we need right now.

Where should I put them?

Take this too and put them all in the rear.

- Watch for snakes when taking out. - I will.

- What is that? - It's charcoal.

I found a charcoal burner's shed in the mountain.

So I asked for some to see if I can use them for decoction.

Where is the shed?

Are you going to bring in more?

Go this way and you'll find the shed.

Sir. The nurse brought some herbs for His Majesty.

It's wood vinegar.

Where did you!

I found out that there is a charcoal burner's shed nearby.

And the nurse went and obtained this liquid.

What is wood vinegar?

It's a sap formed by the smoke from burning oak tree charcoal.

Is that a medicine?

If used directly, it's poisonous. But if purified, it can replenish

the spirit and facilitates the blood circulation.

According to Chinese medical books,

bamboo sap also works.

Has the toxin been removed?

Yes, the people at the shed have already used it.

This will help rejuvenate His Majesty's spirit.

Hello, Doctor.

I heard His Majesty's condition has improved.

Yesm he has. So I'll continued treating him with acupuncture.

When does that acupuncture start?

I'll do it early tomorrow.

The life of His Majesty and his country depends on you.

Give your utmost.

I will, Sir.

But I would like Doctor Yoo, who's in prison,

to do the acupuncture. - What are you saying?

I know how this may sound, but I was shot in my right hand.

On the way to Weeju ... by the pirates.

It is not possible for me to acupuncture with this hand.

Please let Doctor Yoo do it on behalf of me.

You are being ridiculous!

Your Highness.

He let the Prince die for nothing.

How could I let him look after His Majesty's health!

I won't deny his grave mistake before.

But he is such a competent medical officer.

The only person who can cure His Majesty with acupuncture

is Doctor Yoo.

Please consider my suggestion.

I heard Doctor Yu is assigned for His Majesty's acupuncture.

Is that true?

It is. Doctor Hur cannot do it because of his wounded hand.

His wounds are not too deep.

How weird that is.

Sir!

I think you should do the acupuncture for His Majesty.

What are you saying?

Doctor Hur...

Doctor Hur gave you the chance to survive.

Unravel that rope and back to your positions.

Yes, sir!

Let's go.

For what do you give me a chance?

Do not read anything into it.

The only person who can acupuncture now is you.

Let's go.

Do the acupuncture.
