It all started when my dad would point to the moon as we were coming up from
swim practice.
She's following us, he would say.
Every night, I'd look through the rear view mirror to confirm.
Halfway home, I'd take off my seatbelt and hide under the glove compartment.
I didn't want to be followed.
I didn't want the moon to know where I lived.
There was something unsettling about being seen by something so fast and
constant.
We isolate ourselves on earth, forgetting how deeply we're woven into the
fabric of the universe.
How often do we look at the sun and think about its capacity to destroy us with
a solar flare?
The sunset just looks like a painting, not the reality of nuclear fusion.
Millions of miles away.
Do we really know how to look at the sky?
Most people never look at the sky, but I think it's a great shame.
I think everybody should be forced to look at the sky.
They look at their tables, their books, and now they look at their screens.
People are told that life is meaningless.
People have got a strong religious faith don't think that.
People have got a strong political faith.
Don't think that.
And then the idea of interconnection with the wider universe I think provides
meaning.
It says, I'm part of this greater whole.
So I'm not just the atomized me.
I was born on a particular date, a particular time in a particular place with
the planets here and there and
the zodiac signs here and there.
And I am part of the universe.
So everybody inside their own minds is this mass of competing voices.
Insecurities, uncertainties, hopes, desires, wishes.
Then someone else comes along and says, you are like this, it brings clarity.
But it's all based around this common idea that people's lives are
connected to the wider cosmos in a meaningful way.
Like the sky, we don't always see what's in front of us.
How patterns form, how meaning take shape.
Sometimes it hides in the noise, slipping past us, waiting for the right moment
to be seen.
I had been trying to escape my own patterns, only to turn right around and
chase them.
>> My name is Gary Kristin, and my work in astrology has basically been around
the Iranian system.
And we're gonna talk a bit about that, I'm sure.
Astrology is the financial world's best kept secret.
And simply because we always have had the left track played at us while we were
really delivering results.
It'll always be that way, you know, if everybody got a handle on astrology,
began using it financially, it would overweight the markets.
So the fact that the markets aren't being driven astrologically, per se, right?
It gives us the idea that the astrology is much stronger at this era,
in this time, in predicting markets and market movements.
For example, if everybody gets hip to the idea that Mercury retrograde is a
turn in the markets, right?
Of course, we're not saying whether it's up down or sideways, but
if everybody understood that cycle, particularly, it would no longer have a
dramatic effect.
Gary was the first.
I cold emailed him after reading an old forum post titled Why Your Career Feels
Like a Black Hole.
I'd come to him lost, my career stalled, my 20s adrift.
But he saw my chart as a paradox.
Cancer mid-heaven wants to nurture the world.
Virgo rising won't stop editing it.
I laughed until I started tracking planets like a survival tactic.
He handed me coffee brewed so strong it tasted like tar.
Then pointed to a 19th century astrological femoris.
Same math that built Wall Street, he said.
Why was he talking about the financial markets?
How did it connect?
Oh, yeah, that, that, that, okay, I didn't know if it should happen with no
clones.
Okay.
He needs some more time.
He needs another five?
Yeah, I know.
Okay.
Oh, by the way, we have the days installed.
Oh.
How do you use them?
I have used it for day one, so what are you exact?
This is Japanese style.
What is astrology?
Astrology is the correlation of planetary movement and human events or events
on Earth
in general.
But the truth is astrology is the original sin of modern science.
It was modern science that went to the church and said, "We'll get rid of your
problem
for you," of this magical thing left over from the pagan days.
The modern churches all had a problem with it because it was a competitive
belief system
in many respects until the libertarian times start happening.
And science in its nascent form had a problem.
Guys like Galileo were getting put in jail for noticing stuff happening in the
real world.
Guys like Copernicus had to save their works until they were dead and make sure
their family
wasn't going to get attacked by Eretics but because they were being called Eret
ics.
This condemns it a priori without testing.
They're first sin.
I mean, they're supposed to be looking at the natural world and testing, making
a hypothesis
and replicating the tests, right?
But with astrology's case, it was just condemned a priori.
It was a magical thinking.
We don't have anything to do with this.
So astrology was the horror Babylon, it was the scapegoat, it was kicked out.
Astrology has existed for thousands of years.
It's seen the rise and fall of empires, guiding rulers and revolutionaries
alike.
Today as we face our own uncertainty, economic instability, divided populations
, political
upheaval.
It's no surprise that people are turning back to the stars.
Maybe a sense of order amid chaos.
But a desire to bring order to my own chaos and my relationships, my anxiety,
and my future
pulled me in.
And the effect that sin has had on the lives of many of history's most famous
and in some
cases, infamous personalities.
Over the years, astrology has played a major role in the lives of many people
in many different
parts of the world.
It is possible to create a very complex and accurate charge, which goes into
meticulous
detail.
This is based on the exact time and place of birth and takes all of the planets
into consideration.
However, our study will concentrate on sun signs.
When astrology was popular in the '60s, it got a new language.
It got the language of the counterculture.
Not the whole counterculture.
The counterculture itself was a concept cluster, Marxist radicals through to
peace and love,
stereotypical hippies.
In some parts of that, astrology was considered suspect.
But through the idea of the age of Aquarius and now your birth sign, it
achieved a kind
of hippie-ish language, whereas prior to that, at least in the USA, it had
often been associated
with quite conservative.
Really?
Types, yeah.
And I'll tell you an example of an astrology who came out of that.
Culture was shown quickly.
Roddle Reagan's astrologer.
That makes sense.
So she was a good Republican lady, Joan, quickly.
So it was quite natural for her to, well, I think it was Nancy Reagan who found
her.
And, of course, astrologer set the calendar, so the king set the calendar, and
he's sending
the calendar aloud, particularly in the Middle East, growing cycles, when the
floods would
occur, when the droughts would occur, when the monsoons would come.
But God would not have given us to heavens if He did not want us to see His
work.
If He did not want us to see what He's going to do, He tells us.
And so you had these two thoughts in the Catholic Church.
The two canons was the one that, no, no, no, no, free will, astrology stuff,
the Hoover
of Babylon.
Right?
And then you had St. Tom's point and saying, no, no, no, no, no, you can't
diminish God's
work.
But meanwhile, astrology is running medicine, running world of sciences,
anything that's
going on in the medieval times, astrologically based.
The wealthy and powerful have pursued astrology to uncover cycles and patterns,
to reveal
insights about our emotions, desires, and choices as people and as a collective
.
But if astrologers can offer that kind of prophecy, where do I fit in?
Where was my power in wealth?
You had clients who were narcissistic, they just wanted to hear about
themselves.
Those are the ones that paid the bills, you know, and then you would have the
desperate.
So it was the curious and the desperate.
And for the desperate, we drop everything.
It didn't matter if they had money or not.
And that meant that for somebody to come to an astrologer that's in a desperate
situation
means they've exhausted everything else, because we're at the bottom of the
list.
And that's why you have to drop everything for these people, you know, there's
a very
genuine need when they come to you.
Yeah.
Also, yeah, I thought it would be a nice combo, especially when they bloomed,
like the orange.
Yeah, I just wonder, I think there, I'd have an aspect that attracts
controlling men.
Yeah, it attracts control, you're a filmmaker.
Right.
Filmmakers are control freaks.
They're vaping again.
Oh yeah.
People are dying with that.
I thought you gave it up.
I picked a pack up, it's been a hard time, Anne.
You know, you'd see now they're dying and their lungs are falling apart, right?
Oh, you can't make this up.
You know, it's kind of like...
I met Anne in New York.
She'd quit working in finance during her Saturn return.
When mine hit, I went to her.
I wanted to know how my life fit into something larger.
Kodastrologists showed me why it felt like everything was on repeat, why I had
only ever
dated men with scorpion moons.
See, people come to you to really just make sense of their lives.
Like bottom line, they can't make sense of things and...
Are there any big crossroads?
Yeah.
Or big crossroads, where you're like, sometimes your whole chart blows up and
you'd really
do see patterns repeating, people repeating the same thing over and over and
once you're
conscious of the pattern, then you can choose to do it in a different way, or
you can have
a different outcome.
There's more choice and free will with it than...
Yeah.
It seems even more unforgivable to keep repeating the pattern if you recognize
it.
Is it...
This is a D.D.
Shea piece.
You should...
Rob Hand is a medieval astrologer.
Oh, wow.
Yeah.
Wow.
I'd really love to like see someone do.
This is us in Newsweek.
We have piles of trash that we have to clean up in various parts in the shop.
Let's go down into the dungeons.
The dungeons.
Now, we used the manufacture computers and stuff down here back in the day and
this was
our manufacturing room before we shut it down.
This has not really been touched since 1998.
You come out into here and we start getting into the history of microcomputers.
There's a couple of Apple twos in the way back.
What do you think the new technology is now?
The help astrology.
The help astrology continues.
It's gonna be the AI.
It's gonna be AI.
And techniques like we're developing, it's an egotistic thing to say what you
're doing
is the best stuff in the world, so to speak.
It is the best stuff in the world.
I mean, you gotta realize that right now you're talking to the person who
helped create
Astrolabe in the first place, one of the first computer companies to commercial
ize this stuff.
We've been in the business forever.
We have seen things that are not available to the average astrologer.
I've even talked to you about some of these techniques that just are not out
there that
we know of and they're really valuable and they really work.
Now if people were properly educated, they'd know the limits of it, but they're
not.
So they go ahead and they start making up systems that are completely
fictitious and
then try to go through chi-square testing to prove them.
Astrology's way beyond chi-square testing.
We need multi-variant analysis.
You need to have 14 or 15 items going at once to even begin to start thinking
about quantifying
an astrological research.
So it's an all-a-big mess.
Now he has an old machine, this is a French, this is a French, a French tele
type machine.
I've encountered skepticism from those who view astrology through a narrow lens
, dismissing
it as frivolous or unserious.
But before the discovery of gravity, Isaac Newton was mocked for studying al
chemy.
Edward Lorenz was dismissed for his research on chaos theory.
Charles Babbage, the father of the computer, was ridiculed for his belief that
machines
could replicate human thought.
We don't like what we can't quantify.
We'll call it God, luck, gravity.
What we dismissed today might simply be what we just don't yet understand.
Because it does work, it has a reality, and when you look at it, it feels like
everything.
But what I'm saying is it's simple, what I'm going to do is I'm going to
picture the
rocket ship blast out of that reality and you'll see other beautiful ornam, you
see what I'm
saying?
So it's valid, it's true, but it's not the only truth.
And the Hindus live in different truths from the Christians.
And if we understood this, not only do you better astronomers, but we can
understand it.
Can you imagine that?
I'll tell you this.
If I would have been Hillary Clinton's advisor, she would have won the election
.
I have no doubt about it.
Do presidents, like, presidents before these instructs on astrologers, and I
haven't
ever even...
Yeah, Reagan did.
I also know from the great astrology grapevine, I've heard that the Bush family
also.
Probably there are a lot of some of my friends in astrology or consultants to
celebrities
and people in politics.
But they keep it secret.
It's all secret.
Yeah.
I haven't spent so much time with somebody in about 20 years.
Yeah.
Well, but he read my chart and there's success, so...
Yeah, I think it's going to be successful, though, worth it.
What I'm most interested in is quantitative research, which means you have
numbers.
Like, there's qualitative research, quantitative research.
Quantitative research means you have numbers as your results, so you could say
something
like, and we have, that people born with bipolar disorder are more likely to
have the
planets arranged in a certain place at the moment they're born, so that's
factual.
That's it, man, like, that's more likely to happen when they were born.
So that's what we found, is that there are these intricate patterns and you can
collect
data, you know, like we started accident research, and there it was again.
It's like, this looks like it actually works.
It's crazy.
Latinos, the astrologer, academia, refuses to cite, despite his rigorous effort
, journals
just shrug, and he's grown tired of it, tired enough to hang up the moniker of
astrologer
and stick to data scientists.
Here's some of the research tools that we use.
It's not all statistics.
Statistics is a big, important part, but there's also data visualization.
It's really important, but these graphs show when some expected result will
happen.
And this is a forecast I did for the Ukraine war, where I show my predictions
of when the
Ukraine war will swing to Russia's advantage and when it swings to Ukraine's
advantage.
I think it's this peak is when she died of the overdose, and we did the same
thing for
Judy Garland, who also died of a drug overdose.
We have confidence that astrology does produce measurable effects.
It's more likely that it does than it does not, and every day the research
improves.
The research has gone to a new level where we're very confident that there's
something
going on.
Anything in the next ten years, there would be a how.
We already have the how, too.
Oh.
Yeah.
I don't think you've ever said on camera what that is.
Yeah, we have a very strong theoretical framework for how astrology works.
Zodiac signs are structures in space.
There's something called space.
Like Einstein said, space is curved.
What the heck is space?
It says space is something that's hard for our minds to understand, and not
only is space
curved, gravity curved space, but there are structures in space, and the zodiac
signs
are structures in space.
The earth that we live on has spin, according to astrophysicists, the earth has
two kinds
of spin.
It rotates on its axis, which is a kind of angular momentum, and the earth
revolves around
the sun, which is another kind of angular momentum.
It says spin, a.k.a. angular momentum, operates from the subatomic level all
the way up to
the solar system and even galaxies are swirling around, and what I propose is
that embedded
in spin are number sequences, like the Fibonacci series.
When you embed the Fibonacci series in what we call a modulus function, like in
a beach,
it creates twelve structures, twelve sectors of thirty degrees, so there are
structures
in space created in a higher dimensional space, so this idea of higher
dimensional
space is a common idea in physics.
Like in some super strength theory, they say there's eleven dimensions, and
they collapse
into three dimensions of space in one dimension of time.
So astrology operates in a higher dimensional space, and the aspects we don't
understand
as well, but there's some kind of vibrational relationship that's created, what
that vibration
is nobody's discovered yet or seen, but it seems to be primarily geometric, so
it operates
at the same level as a lot of relativity theory and quantum theory.
It's a little bit the same way, it works in a higher dimensional space.
So when people say, oh, Aries is a warrior towards, oh my God, Aries is an
energy force
in a higher dimensional space with an intention and a purpose, that's like what
it actually
is is very far from what astrologers are saying.
Why is it dismissed as superstition?
Is it too intangible, too immeasurable for us to trust?
Perhaps it exists in a realm we can't fully quantify, like the shadow of
something just
beyond our grasp.
Again, you have to always be careful of where you go with your moon, you always
have, like
I said, you really do have to guard yourself in terms of fame, you know, listen
, we don't
want too much fame in this world, we don't want too much money, both of those
things
put us on a bad path, we have too much money in this world, also what we do we
spend our
time worrying about our money, you know, becomes a burden, the same thing with
fame,
you know, fame is a situation where you want some fame, right, you want, you
want recognition
by your peers, people you respect, you want recognition for what your abilities
really
are and that sort of stuff, you know, and you are a borderline, you really are,
I mean seriously,
if you wanted to become famous in the public eye, it's not a problem for you
and I really
do warn you against it because it's got a high seductive value, you know, once
you get
a taste of it, you start wanting more, it's one of those things, it's like
heroin.
The astrologers I've met often point to fame, success, recognition and money in
my chart
and for a while, I wanted to believe them but the more I heard, the less it
felt like
a promise and more like a mirror reflecting not what I would achieve but what I
wanted
most. Most advised from most of you, you don't have a bear marks magic, you
hope you can
weather it, you hope you won't get out too late, you have a different look as
it's not
drilling deals or mineral rights, Jeremy's speaking on Saturday too, so trust
me, yeah,
I'll introduce you to Jeremy tomorrow when he gets here. He runs a educational
trading
platform, so he's a full time trainer, runs an education course, he's one that
showed
me the moon pattern, so yeah, Jeremy's an awesome dude.
In 2013, I had a gentleman fly me out from Nashville, Tennessee, I was in a
small two
bedroom condo in Brentwood. He flew me out because he wanted to build an astrol
ogical
hedge fund and so I worked with him and his team in L.A. for three months
building astrology
indicators and when I talk about astrology into here, I'm talking about all of
them,
the Mercury retrograde, the moon, the pattern of the sun, the pattern of Saturn
and take
the pattern and then plot it visually, which is not the easiest thing in the
world, and
I'm not a math specialist by any means. What I was there to do is help him
understand why
it equates to the market and how to use it. I tell people that the stock market
's the
greatest revealer of what you need healed internally. It's a huge mirror and it
's organic
and it's living and breathing and shifting and always just churning and it's
creating
opportunities for people. I just see it as this amazing parallel to create
wealth but
to create joy. The stock market has saved my life more times than I would like
to count.
I like finding patterns and I also really like money. Money's a shapeshifter.
For Gary,
it was a puzzle for Anna pastime. For me, maybe a way to fund my films and I
understand how
astrology may work but I don't know if I could say the same about the markets.
Is the market rational? That is a difficult question to ask. I mean, I would
say...
The best thing, we like to think of markets as... We like to think of the
market as something
that exists outside of human activity. It's something that's out there but it's
not.
The market is just the sum total of people's actions. I would say that the
market can be
both rational and irrational, that there are moments where markets can act in
sort of stable
rational ways and sort of... The markets can act based on certain sort of
fundamental
laws and precepts. But there are moments where markets fall prey to irrational
ity in the
same way that people fall prey to irrationality. Some of the things that we
look at and study
make very little sense to us today unless we can actually put ourselves in the
sort of
minds of the people who are living at the time and try to think about how they
acted
and why they acted certain ways and try to make sense of it.
In finance, patterns and models define boundaries we can measure and manipulate
. Money grounds
us in reality, providing a sense of control. But both astrology and finance are
part of
a larger system. They're both attempts to interpret something vast,
interconnected, and
beyond full comprehension. I feel like one of the reasons why, you know,
guys on Wall Street who may use astrology would never tell you they do.
In essence, those are the more serious astrologers. When money is on the table,
they start getting
really serious. The flamboyant astrologers that screw around and think they
know things
and they start playing in the markets, they lose their shirt kind of thing.
These are the
guys that have to produce. They have to, if they don't produce, and they, you
got to remember
just as many crazy people in the financial world as there are in a regular ast
rology world.
My relationship with money was complicated. I grew up feeling like there was
never enough.
Others talk about cycles of scarcity and abundance. How money is energy, not
math, but
obviously energy can't pay the rent. So do I have to straddle two worlds? The
corporate
pursuit of money and artistic poverty. How are people feeling? Like, what is
their
sentiment, not just people kind of conflate sentiment with? If you could
actually just
know the mood and how optimistic or pessimistic people are feeling about the
future, that's
ultimately how you time. Wait, you don't have the thing.
Hi, I'm Rick James, president and CEO of Bridgewater Associates. I used to be a
systematic portfolio
manager at a large hedge fund. What that means is that I was trading, in
particular
this hedge fund, traded everything from currencies to commodities to bonds to
stocks. I was trading
mainly, we call it investing, mainly investing in stocks using algorithms, but
picking stocks
to hold over six to nine months. So I don't really care what the rules are.
Just care
if I can win. So would you say that the market as a model is rational or as a
rational as
a person who is playing it? Yeah, I think the market's just like, it's really
just a bunch
of irrational, like semi-rational people playing. So like the market itself,
therefore, I think
is a bit more rational than all of the irrational players. But at the end of
the day, like we
are humans and we're fallible, and you have a bunch of humans playing a game
together
that are all fallible. So I mean, ultimately, like, yes, is there some kind of
anti-fragility
from there being so many participants, sure, but like ultimately, at the end of
the day,
it is not perfectly rational or perfectly efficient because it's ultimately a
bunch
of humans playing. Right. Is it good here? Hold on. That's what I'm checking.
They're
still working on our order. They eat it? Yeah, it's disgusting. Maybe while we
can let them
out. I don't know if they get cooped up in there. Yeah, we left them out now.
So these
apple trees, these generate about 3,000 apples a year. Are they in there edible
? Oh, yeah.
But I also make, can I pick one? I also make my own cider. Hi. They're not
completely
right, but you probably eat them. Maybe dodge the bullet working at home. Yeah,
I think
so. I think I've been very lucky. And so I worked for Salomon Brothers, and I
started
off on the technology side. I developed their first really modern trading
system,
which probably has still been used in some form at Citigroup now, which is what
Salomon became.
And I think that's what we talked about earlier on. We try to project, the
danger is we try to
project too much certainty in a certain world. But on the other hand, we also
talked about the
importance of taking agency and making decisions and investing and trading are
all making decisions.
when you really
want to buy. It's really Warren Buffett's whole statement about be fearful when
others are greedy
and be greedy when others are fearful. I would be a culprit as an investor in
some of these
in some of these mistakes as well. Like more trendy? Yeah, I mean,
we also see patterns where patterns don't exist. It's just been well documented
And that's why I tried to use certain mathematical techniques to eliminate that
.
And I would have models that would behave very well in the past. And when you
project them out
of the future, simply don't work. And that's an example of where the past is
not always a good
predictor of the future. The market, like the planets, thrives on fear and
desire.
Do the same forces that astrologers trace in the stars, shape markets.
If I had to explain what I learned to someone, maybe I'd say, if you want to
know what's going
on in the world, look at the stock market. If you want to know what's going on
in your life,
look at the stars.
And so that upsets, I think, a lot of people who want to believe that they're
fully in control
of their life. Yeah. So sometimes I have a hard time coming back at them.
Nothing to come back at. You just say, does the tide move the ocean? Yeah. Do
you think it
doesn't have an impact on you? You menstruate at the same time every, you know,
and under
certain longer conditions. You wear a coat in the winter, you sweat in the
summer. You know,
those are two planets that affect your behavior. All that astrology says is the
other ones do too.
And that we're part of a cosmic collective and we're all united. We're all
interconnected.
So the whole, you know, those are the people that go the butterfly wing fl
apping and India
doesn't affect me. And then there's the people that say, oh, the butterfly wing
flapping and
India does affect me. Right. So it's, you know, I'm totally cool. They can have
that belief system.
But if they're an acorn, they're going to grow up to be an oak tree. And if
they're a walnut,
they're going to grow up to be a walnut tree. And that's okay. I think it's
helpful to know
that you're an acorn or a walnut. They may not want to know that. They may just
want to know
that they're going to grow up and be some kind of nut tree when they're older.
You realize that, you know, what do you, I don't know if I told you about this
thing,
but we have a rob hands or other. The astral analyst stuff.
The astral analyst. Yeah. We've discussed it, you know, because it's true, like
essentially kind of what I'm gathering is that it's can be a pretty powerful
predictive tool.
Gets beyond that. Right. And it could crash the market if people are realized.
That we could do this. How accurate it is because then it's like, what's the
market for?
Correct. Right. So that's why it has to be a secret. And not only has it has to
be a secret,
it's like honestly, you know, Roy is correct. The implications of it as a
technique
makes an extremely powerful astrology that is not like anything anybody's seen
before.
Right. This is layering cycles on top of one another so that it matches any
kind of
quantitative data. So when do you think it could be ready for public
consumption?
Never. Never? No, not the way it is right now. We have to see what other things
happen in the
world. Right. All right. Because I expect to see the markets blown apart
through an AI
thing anyway. Right. You know what I mean? So the United States and the world
and the world
banks and everything else, they're just going to have to stop relying on the
hand of God.
The Adam Smith way of balancing the markets because if the astrological thesis
is correct,
you can't. There is no random number going on in the markets. Right. What
happened to the hedge fund?
This, so this guy, I don't know if I should say his name. Probably won't. But
he ended up selling
his hedge fund for a few billion to Black Rock. And I got a very small sliver
of that, very,
very small. He was like, hey, thank you. And he sent me a nice check, which was
awesome.
He sold his hedge fund to Black Rock and then became a monk.
Hell yeah. Yeah. So he was like, I'm out guys and left and just became a monk.
I'm pretty sure he's
still a monk. I haven't heard from him in seven years. Yeah.
It's seductive to think the stars can map a clear path. But there's a fine line
between
guidance and validation. Over six years and hundreds of charts, I get the same
lesson.
Every retrograde, every Saturn transit, every spreadsheet. They're not road
maps. They're suggestions.
I started following the astrologers to conferences from Colorado to Slovenia.
And I started to wonder, was I looking to the stars for insight?
Or for someone to tell me I was on the right track?
Did I trust the patterns I was finding? Or was I cherry picking the ones that
made me feel safe?
Church. So there's all kinds of things. We're in an information age.
All kinds of cool things going on. And a lot of people have an antiquated idea
of research.
And they think, oh, research is a nerdy numbers computer view.
No, 90 over 98% of research. There's nothing to do with that nowadays.
So I just wanted to get that out there because there's a cool world ahead of us
We're not just getting information from our clients. We do all these other
things
and put it all together and it really elevates our understanding of astrology.
Awesome, I would like to take a picture of it.
How is everything going in recordings?
Everything is going very well. Everything is open already.
Uploaded, not recorded, loaded, loaded, done.
They're the best.
It is my lifetime. Wherever I go, she'll go, okay, see you.
1,400 years. That is one. And to really do all that.
So that means to wait in your life to make this incarnation active,
to activate the incarnation. And you need to have three active incarnations
in order to truly integrate your soul.
So the good news is he's going through the structures of shorter stuff.
And he's trying to change things. Wildly, you know what I was saying,
baby, baby, we're transforming from our lives. It's in its bottom, you know.
This investment in vice is solely for educational purposes only.
And all decisions you make in financial markets are your responsibility only.
So I don't get the advice I want to stay in for a time.
So whenever I begin a discussion on financial astrology,
I like to get by looking at the mundane pictures. So this is where we are at
right now.
Or do you want to see the like a horoscope?
Okay, let me see what I have up on my screen here.
I was doing my reports for the day or getting ready to edit.
You know, a lot of people don't see this, but I've been staring at charts for
so long.
I mean, so I'm like a big picture type.
And that's another thing with astrology too. One thing I've enjoyed
is studying even my own nail chart is it helps me understand my own temperament
.
You know, like I have a moon Saturn conjunction.
So and it's in the sign of Pisces in my second house.
So second house rules your income, you know, moon is your emotions.
So, you know, I could be emotional about my income,
but the Saturn helps ground me. And if I'm structured and disciplined in my
approach,
which are themes of Saturn,
a Pisces moon is pretty intuitive. If I'm structured and disciplined
in my approach to making money in the market, my intuition works better.
It's kind of a, it's a weird thing. So by knowing my own nail chart,
it allows me to understand my own psychology as a trader.
Okay. I talk fast. I talk a lot. I didn't talk too fast. Did I?
True to their values and principles, not your values and principles.
In this sense, we begin to realize astrologers now is Dennis Harness himself
has said and wrote
and I learned from it. The astrologer is a choice revealer, not the choice
maker.
And in 1978, one of my clients came to me
in London. Was there any correlation between the stock market and astrology?
So I said, I don't know. But if you're willing to fund a research project,
I will go away for a week. You find a place to go and seclusion for a week
where it's quiet.
Give me some charts that you think are important with stock market and I will
give you the incorporation. They can now do a study and I'll see if I find a
correlation.
I can't achieve an award. That's as high as you can have astrology. There's
only five
of us who received it over the last since they've been offered, which is 35
years ago, this started.
We're in the myths of our third term of M.M.T.A. - Merriman Market Timing
Academy graduates.
It's a two-year program. They meet with us 48 times to cover 98, 99 lessons.
They have
to do research projects that take at least two to four weeks to complete where
they test
their theories or their hypothesis out based on the material that they just
learned over the
previous six weeks. When I told one of the finance guys I interviewed that I
went to a
financial astrology conference in Slovenia, he asked if it smelled like patch
ouli.
She's big. This is profit with planets.
So welcome to M.M.T.A. and M.M.A. investment retreat in 2024.
You made it. Hooray!
If you get a little loss on your chart and we did that information,
do move it to that area's first house system.
But then you have Venus in, Taurus in the second house. Well, that's a lot of
money. Good for you.
Yeah, it's actually really good.
It's very good. Financial astrology.
Yeah, Venus, Taurus. I mean, you can't get better in the second house.
No, it's not our wife.
We're astro-twin. She's born one day after me.
She's been doing a documentary. I met her.
There is. There's a history of astrology with every king back in the past.
You have to blur my face because if they find at work what I do, it's not going
to be good.
In our society, people want to know, am I going to get married? Is there a guy
who likes me?
What should I do? What's going to happen? It's used in a very basic, basic,
superficial way.
But then there's a deeper meaning, I think. And that's why we're here.
Deeper meaning of cycles, of correlations, how it impacts history, how it
impacts the world.
Yes, astrology has a very negative because I think our world got divorced from
science,
got divorced from spirituality.
Those type of esoteric sciences, which some of them are completely outright
bullshit, right?
You know, tarot, palm reading. It's really, in my opinion, it's complete
bullshit.
Maybe your next documentary will be on this and maybe I'll change my mind.
But astrology, because it's very technical and then you can check the patterns,
right?
That's what attracts me. I'm a math finance background, so I like to look at
different
correlations and see what actually happened at that time in history.
So we had the first interest rate cut yesterday. You had all the monetary
stimulus from the Fed
when Pluto was in Capricorn. Starting in 2009, that's when they began the
quantitative easing stuff.
And then, you know, Pluto got toward the end of Capricorn, the Fed started
raising rates,
the most aggressive rate hiking campaign in their history, in their 100 plus
year history.
And now Pluto had just retrograde back into Capricorn and they started lowering
rates.
They raised them. They dropped them by 50 basis points or half a percent.
And so now, you're seeing a nice reaction from the market.
And I always like to say that the day after Fed Day matters more than the Fed
Day itself,
so you saw markets rise pretty quickly yesterday, then sell off into clothes.
But now we've recovered all that, and some of these names that I have, like I
own MicroStrategy,
that's up 8% today. Each of them have their own Buddhist skepticism coming into
the program.
You know, you yourself have said that you don't really necessarily talk with
astrology with people outside of the community that you work with with finance
stuff.
Yeah, not as much. Not as much. I don't think they're always serious.
So it's just something I take very seriously in the sense that if there's not a
respect and
appreciation, like between the two. Yeah, like for the art. Yeah. Ray has said
before
that it's like trying to read a clock with 12 different hands. So it's hard to
read the exact
time. And you might be right on, you know, seven or eight out of the hands, but
in the last four,
the ones that are overriding that day, you know, it's a lot of things to keep
track of.
So who's gonna win the day? Is Mars gonna win the day? Is Jupiter gonna win the
day? Is Saturn gonna win the day?
And what's a good day at Mars winning? It depends on the person. Are you ruled
by Mars? Is it Mars
day? Is it Tuesday? So the chart for the New York Stock Exchange is May 17, 17
92 at 852 in the
morning in New York, New York. And the first trade was competed under a button
wood tree,
downtown in the corner of Broad and Wall Street. And then subsequently the
Stock Exchange was built
on that corner. And then as you do a tour of the stock market, they go, and
then there's this little
door that after people lose all their money, they sneak out the back door and
they're quiet.
So Mercury is high in the chart, which we would expect with stocks because
stocks are about paper.
Now I'm gonna trade a piece of paper for some money with you. What stand out to
you? Mercury on
Elgo and the part of death. And what is it? Elgo is Mercury's communications
and stock and trading.
And Elgo is the star of the heading and losing your head.
If cycles in space reflect history in the future, the rise and fall of our
empires,
market booms and crashes. Are they the same stories with different participants
?
They remind us that nothing truly ends. We repeat ourselves and it all begins
again in a different
form. This is how the markets relate to astrology and some of the techniques we
use for
relating to the market structure. What we're going to do first is show the Dow
Jones index.
And we look at it for 20 years from 1980, and then we look at the movement of
Mars
from 1980s and now. And this line I've now drawn is one movement of prices, the
same as the
movement of Mars. There are three main ways that astrology is used in business.
The first one
is to take the birth of the body. This whole building is the stock exchange. It
's got
10x10x12, which is my father of course. Anybody in the world can trade now. And
that all started
here on the 27th of October 1986. And if you look at the astrological charts of
that moment,
you can see this is an incredible chart of, if you like, intensification of
desire and wanting.
And this is what dominates financial economy throughout the whole world at the
moment.
So there are financial astrologers, but they tend to work on themselves. It's
not a general
subject that is held. And this is the way it's gone in subsequent years. So
there's some very
good financial traders who use astrology, but it's not generally available to
the general public.
And it is very complicated in any case. So you'd have to be an expert astrolog
ist who
understands some of the techniques they use. So it was always this fear that
astrology, if it was
good enough, would actually collapse the market. But it ain't as simple as that
as like all things
with astrology, you not only have to know the transits, you have to know
yourself and know how
you work with it. One of my favorite metaphors from philosophy is Plato's
metaphor of the cave,
where people are sitting in a cave looking at the flickering light on a cave
wall and
imagining the flickering light is reality, whereas in fact it's a reflection.
And that is my guiding principle. We live in a world of reflections where
we can find out a certain amount about the natural world. We know if you drop
something,
it falls to the floor usually. But why are we here? Where do we come from? What
are we made of?
It's all a great mystery.
So what is the cycle? Ray called the top in Bitcoin in 2021 when it was up at,
was it 62 or 69,000
at that first time? And then he called for a severe decline, 70 to 80% decline.
And when I say
called, also I do not mean he said this is what's going to happen at the time.
I mean he said,
this is what's going to happen four months in advance. So everything was very
smoothly known
what was coming. There were not moments of like, oh, that you got to sell, like
not that kind of
thing. None of it was reactionary. It was all predictive.
Are you doing? I'm not staying away. Hello. Hi, I got stuff I'm going to show
you.
Yes, I just need to keep, yes, I just keep awake. Where did we get the coffee
flat? I thought more
people at the conference would be astro people. Yeah, no, look, this is just
day one, right?
I nearly said it. I nearly said it. Don't quote that, cut that, put that on the
floor.
Put it on the floor. I mean, it was very interesting when he said how many
people are
astrologists and there were very few, right? But then when he asked people
about planet cycles,
how many people using them, right? Everybody put it out. So in other words,
they're not classing themselves as using astrological techniques, but they're
absolutely using planetary
cycles, which arose by any other name. And I just honestly, the further up a
tree somebody is,
the more a chief executive, they give them monkeys who knows what they were
using. They only want
success. They're not interested. You could do it with entrails. They wouldn't
be bothered, right?
After so, this is turning into quite good fun. Yeah, well, I'm having a great
time.
Would you like sugar? Yes, one sugar, please. Do you want brown or white?
Saturn's been moving through Pisces. That thing has been moving up. It's not
consistent, right?
But as it happens, the S&P came into being with the sun in Pisces. So it's kind
of, that's kind of
quite neat, isn't it? It's like it sits silent. So it's kind of like I'm rising
up, I'll show you.
I'll show you how good I can be. But it doesn't, I mean, the thing that you
have to put onto this
or anything is it doesn't work every time. Right. And what needs to be done now
is to go back and
look at all the trades that would not have worked, because they wouldn't have
worked for some reason.
So was it a full moon that was in the way? Was it Mercury retrograde that was
in the way?
The reason is not automated yet, you're making me think. I don't know. I know
that the next step is
that was the day that I knew that he knew something was going on. For 15 and a
half years,
I looked for somebody when the mortgage, when the housing market crashed back
in 2008, 2009.
After that point, I closed the mortgage was down. After that, I looked for 15
and a half years
for somebody that did financial astrology. Because this doesn't allow for so
many different,
you know, declination, latitude, but anyway, here we are. Living around for.
Living around for.
So if you want to interview me or hear anything from me, there's your best
chance.
Learning about cycles, I have a crystal ball now, knowing what's going to
happen in 2026,
2028, 2030. Thanks for this. Make great people like this one filming me right
now, so it's been
a great experience. Do you think, did you tell your friends? My friends? No. I
mean, they do even
know I do astrology. We're gonna come back richer. The psychology of trading
and investing,
we're gonna get back into markets now, before taking another direction after
this presentation.
When you study astrology, you are not only studying. It's like the laws of her
medicine, like the inner, like as above so below, right? And then when you
connect with other people
who are on that journey, it's like when you're in a foreign country and you
meet somebody who
speaks your language, it's like, oh, you know, so I think it's the combination
of all those things.
It's the combination of that, the depth of the study, and then relating to
another person
by speaking the same language. Kind of like you're being seen? Yeah, yeah. Yeah
, being seen.
Astrology didn't fix my fear of failure, my terror of being unseen, but naming
those fears
helped me see myself in the mirror. Did I have free will? Or were the choices I
was making
being guided by something else? I don't know if I even care at this point. I
just like the
people I've met and the world that they've shown me. I'm gonna put you in touch
with her.
She said, oh, did you not want a black cat? Well, it wasn't that I didn't want
a black cat,
but I wasn't looking for a designer cat. But because we have TV crews here, I
tend not to have
black cats because they always want to film the damn cat, right? Oh, because
they didn't
look like a cat. Right? Okay. It's stupid, right? Anyway. Now, we can actually
screen a thousand
charts. I can, well, Gary would have shown you. Yeah. He can actually go on to
his program and
say how many people have got this. Yeah. You know, we could, that couldn't be
done before.
So I think the quality of what we can do has improved. Unfortunately, that's
been
in parallel with social media and allowed young people, and I'm not anti-young,
but it's allowed
people on the kind of TikTok stuff, whatever, with very, very limited knowledge
to say things
without really considering the impact. And I, I'm with David Cochran on this,
that
some of it is absolutely, is near unforgivable, it's cruel, it's unkind, and it
's thoughtless.
Yeah. No, it's true. And it, and it, and it shouldn't be allowed to happen.
Potentially, it is so powerful that it really does has to be studied thoroughly
. And I, frankly,
I, I'm never going to be, well, I, I can honestly say, I'm never going to be
any good at it,
because I can't live long enough to be good at it. I hypothesize it's because
of the 19-year
matonic cycle. Things get more hot. You know, we got to talk to our examiner
about that. He's here.
Hooray. Hooray. Hooray. Incredible. You made it this far now. It's not much
higher,
you can get than this. As we go. Let's talk to, let's talk to, let's talk to a
good decline in
gold and a huge rally to flow. The long-term stuff is easy to call. The crisis,
the wars,
they're easy to call, relatively easy to call. And I've nailed like every big
low, high
in crypto since I started, I've, I've called it. Actually, my boss is at my
company. They talk
me, they say, "Well, it's okay to be wrong. Just people want to know what you
think." And I said,
"Okay." This is what I think. I think he has a win. He doesn't have a small
pool. I try to tell
them, but they're like, they shut up, they shut down. No, what's the shut off?
What's the turn?
They shut you off. They shut you down. No, they, they, they just go, they, they
close up. They go,
"Nope, that's not true. I don't want to know. That's not true." That's funny.
And it's like,
"Okay, that's your loss." It's a pretty taboo thing in financial world to talk
about astrology.
You know what's crazy though? All the big calls that are made, they think I'm
using some model that
is divorced from astrology. No, I am using astrology. When they say, "Oh, the
long-term stuff,"
I always say, "The long-term stuff is easy to call." Because the long-term
cycles are more,
they're easier to predict. It's the short-term stuff that's, that's very
difficult.
One has to be very discreet in working in our field. And who do you give the
information to?
And how do you package it? How do you qualify it? Right. And so then it's
really up to the client's
discretion, whether or not they talk to people about using this as a tool. Yeah
, although, I mean,
I've had, it's happened to me more than once when a client has said, "I won't
recommend you to
anyone. I'm keeping you to myself." Despite how annoying the camera must have
been at times,
the open-minded takes to practice financial astrology seem to extend to me.
I didn't smell patchouli once. And maybe it's hard for people to take seriously
because of how astrology is portrayed in the media.
Like Gary says, "The laugh track plays on."
Something this astrologer says, all right, either makes deep sense or it doesn
't. If it makes deep
sense, then it prompts some sort of self-awareness or self-understanding in the
person. And I mean,
you know, this really relates to a lot of other areas as well. You know, it can
relate to
therapy. Now, lots of people relate astrology to therapy. It became very common
for people to talk
about astrology as a kind of counseling. But you get this in all sorts of
literature as well.
You know, people read a book, read a sacred text, read a poem, and suddenly to
think, "Oh, yeah,
that really makes sense. That explains things." So in a way, you know, it's the
power of the word,
the power of the communicated word. I mean, you get images as well. You know,
you've got the power
of religious imagery, sacred imagery, and so on. But I think really astrology
deals with words
and the power of the word to evoke something.
It's a very irritating thing. I mean, I'm happy to say this on camera, but it's
very irritating.
Every so often they come up with, "We discovered a 13th sign."
Or "Pluto's not a planet." Well, Pluto's not a planet. We see the point about
Pluto. It's a big
one. Pluto is not doing anything to us. It's a reference point. If you're a
surveyor and you
sort of stick in the distance and measure it a bit of a lot of light, then you
're actually using
the stick in a very valuable way. The snake's not doing anything. He's not
telling you anything.
It's just a reference point. And that's what Pluto's cycles are. And they're
incredibly powerful
cycles. I mean, why was it that the big bang that we were talking about earlier
happened in the '80s? Because Pluto was in Sculpeo. Why was it that the
internet exploded like mad
through the '90s and into the 21st century? Because Pluto was in Sagittarius.
Why was it that the
financial system, the economic system of the world, has fallen apart in recent
years with
Pluto in Capricorn? Why is it that we're about to go through a major AI
transformation of
consciousness which is going to completely change the way we do business with
each other
in the next 20 years? Because Pluto's moving into Aquarius at the end of this
year.
You've got to remember that the scientists and everybody else, they feel that
life is an anomaly
in this universe. That we're weird. Until they find other life, the universe is
a dead thing.
And honestly, science will keep looking until they make life dead. You've got
to realize
they make life dead. Yeah, there is no humanity in the sciences. It's not built
into them.
Humanity is built into things that deal with humans, medicine, astrology,
psychiatry.
These things deal with people. But when we're dealing with just pure machines
with AI materials
or things that get non-human, well, the humanity goes out of it all and that's
the problem with
the modern world. Before our interview, I looked at the polls like surveys. And
sure enough, it's
true that millennials have a huge interest in astrology. Now, the next
generation,
what's the next one called? Gen Z. Gen Z. They're not showing as much interest
in astrology.
Number one, it does seem to work. Like, oh, my boyfriend's son is in Virgo and
he's so picky,
it's like his moon is in this. It's like it seems to work. Astrology has been
in the minds of people
all around the world, almost everywhere, for thousands and thousands of years.
It's the basic
omen idea of astrology. There's some omen in the sky. And I think we all have
some sense
that there's something bigger than us. You know, there's obviously there is. We
don't know
where we came from. We don't know what happens after we die. So there's all
these big questions.
We are connected. There's something bigger going on. Like we're a part of the
cosmos. So I think it
meets an emotional need for connectedness with something bigger than what's
right in front of us.
And I think the need personally, I think the need for feeling connected to
something much
bigger than what's right in front of us, I think it's enormous. And I think
sometimes it's largely
unconscious. But I don't, I think almost nobody down deep in their soul can
just thrive on.
I got a new car or whatever. It's like just immediate things. At some level,
you have to wonder
what's this all about? The six age shifts satin into the lead and slippered
pantaloon with
bite spectacles on nose and poultry on side. His youthful hois well saved, a
world far too wide.
In part of that is because shakes was living at a time when all the mistakes,
all the brutality,
all the misuse of money and all the everything that was wrong with the world,
at least we had this
virginal energy, this energy of astrological understanding, which now we've got
all the mechanical strength
could be used in a much more enlightened way. And so we've got to turn away, we
come to this apex
of angst. Are we going to start hating and destroy each other? Are we going to
go into the war? What
are we going to do? Or are we going to start understanding each other?
The astrology show. So I don't know what you want to say about it.
Fun, do you want me to talk about the astrology show? You'll find a lot of
amazing books here.
Just kind of, what are these, the cellars? Has he got it organized? Oh, here's
Townley too.
John Townley. Do you think people talk at that who don't want to believe that
there's some kind
of determinism? Well, you know, like that it that it that it opposes. Well, I
mean, my favorite one,
yeah, yeah, but my favorite one is that I can tell you it's going to rain
tomorrow.
I'm not going to tell you whether you're going to get wet. That's up to you.
Right, when you go out.
And it's the same with astrology, we confront you with the situation we're in.
But we
don't, we do have the freedom to make decisions within that. And I've been
through all sorts of
things where it's challenged. It's almost like I was going against my destiny
and therefore I was
pulled back to take another path. In my search for certainty, I led myself ast
ray.
Pushing astrologers for validation, clinging to their promises, like a script I
could follow.
I didn't need to hear again and again that I had points of fame and success
with money,
yet I probed, confirmed, and repeated the cycle, obsessed with control.
One of the things about astrology is that, as we know, it's right, fate becomes
this thing that
as the technique gets better and better, fate becomes stronger and stronger.
Is that humans have to have the illusion of free will. We were completely fated
creatures.
Well, we wouldn't have any motivation, you know what I mean? So we have to have
we have to have such a care on a stick, we have to have this illusion of free
will,
and it makes us continually operate, which means getting out of ourselves.
But the truth of the matter is, this is what makes astrology very dangerous,
that should the technique get that good, and we start predicting time, it
starts taking away the
magic of time, you know? The illusion of free will. That's correct. And the
other part about,
as I mentioned, you will be judged at birth. Do you think that that can be a
danger with astrology,
or like the personality is behind the tool itself that can like warm it?
No, when you sound, well, yes, it can be worked, but when you sell fear, people
buy on fear,
right? You know, it's what they buy on. You don't sell, you know, you say it's
going to happen,
but what's going to happen? So part of it is... It leads, it leads. Yeah, I
totally. So astrology
is the same thing, and there's a lot of astrologers out there who want to make
a name for themselves.
And right now everybody is very crazy. Why? There's all the Pisces, all the
endings going on.
It was very unstable-izing time for people. They feel very unstabilized. Like,
how do I
work with all this changing, shifting, not stable stuff? It's very unstable.
And that makes people
nervous. Like, it's like an earthquake, and the world is changing underneath us
. And then what
happens? If we tip over, we fall, do we fall off Earth? And then we stay on
this little spinning
planet. We've got to free this up there.
If free will is an illusion, and the planets are some greater force, is
governing our behavior,
what does that say about our future? What's left? Maybe it's not about control.
Maybe it's about the courage to sit in the dark, laptop glowing,
debt looming, and still choose to film the moon. Not because it's following you
,
but because you've learned to follow yourself. Or are we hurtling towards
something we don't yet
understand? Unable to stop it, even if we tried. So when Neptune goes into Ares
, though,
which is next year, and then in February of 26, Saturn and Neptune need up. And
so that's the
structures, Saturn is the structures, and Neptune is- they catch on fire, they
fall apart, they dissolve,
they can be a good world war, hopefully not. But it is- the last time they met
up was big. So
like looking at it and kind of going, these are- this is a tough, tough
planetary joining,
and what happens when the planetary is joined, planets join is they start a new
cycle that then
unfolds over time. So in 2030, what's going to happen is the conjunction of
Hades and Kronos
will occur. This Kronos rules the government and bureaucracy. Kings and
everything it's above
average. Hades is want poverty, corruption, decay, old things. So with Neptune
going into Ares,
that last time that happened was the Civil War in the United States. It was
also, interestingly,
the Crimean War in Russia, which is part of Crimea as part of Ukraine, and
eight years ago,
Russia took it over from Ukraine, and now they're fighting in Ukraine. So we
see the repetition
happening. We have an idea of what happened yesterday, but we don't have all
the details.
So- and that's Hades. Hades makes things secret because it covers things up
because people ignore
stuff. Well, what it's going to mean is basically governments are going to get
very, very mean.
Authoritative rule will be the course of the day. Great institutions will get
highly corrupt
and fall apart. So how long are they going to be together? They're going to be-
it's already
coming into play. They're two degrees apart now. We'll see how this film ages.
We're synchronic beings. As far as the scars are concerned, we all move in lock
step.
Humans have always looked for patterns to predict the future. It's how we chart
tides,
track storms, and even take risks in the stock market. Mapping cycles and
movements gives us the
illusion of control in attempt to orient ourselves in a chaotic world.
Throughout the six years that
I've been talking to my new friends, they predicted COVID, the Russia-Ukraine
War, Trump's presidency,
and on. And now we enter one of the largest event saturations since the turn of
the 19th century,
which just brings us into the next cycle and the next, a cluster of cycles that
have come before,
just with different technology, borders, actors, and audience.
Uh, kind of like analysis of what's to come or what's coming with, you know,
obviously I hear
a lot of astrologers talk about 2026, 2030, 2032. This is probably an untrying
to be sensational
here. I mean, I've been struggling for really 50 years all time. And this is
probably the most
sensational time in human history that I can think of. Just looking at this
period between now and
2027, we've got Neptune dancing on the midpoint between Uranus and Putin. And
Ares and then, you know,
Pluto in Aquarius, you're gonna have these powerful tech barons is what I like
to call them. People
like you add mossy. 2028. Sussin and Chiron. We're doing it. We're doing it for
a long time.
Yeah.
patterns aren't
. They were
shared experiences. Now, as we enter this next period of upheaval, it's the
collective
reckoning with these cycles that shapes how we move forward. It's the laughter
after someone
predicts a market crash in the knowing nods when an astrologer describes a
transit.
So if none of us can ever truly know what comes next and that we can't
eliminate uncertainty
or escape death. At least you can buy a star.
