[blow dryer whirring]

[blow dryer whirring]
* *
[blow dryer whirring]
- * All the leaves are brown *
- Hi. Welcome to the next levels.
- * And the sky is gray *
- I think I have what it takes to win "AGT" season 20.
- Get out of there, Howie. Get out of that shot.
Your whole head is the size of one of his pecs.
- "AGT" crowd, you guys ready?
- Go!
- This is the biggest show of my life.
- This is our chance to make our dream come true.
- I have to nail this.
- This guy is the best host.
- I'm about to rip his arm off.
- * I stopped into a church *
["California Dreamin'"]
- Are you ready to meet your judges?
- * I got down on my knees *
* And I pretended to pray, yeah *
* You know the preacher *
- First of all, we've been having
a blast in this season 20.
We have all hit our Golden Buzzers,
everyone here, but, Howie,
you have one more Golden Buzzer.
So I want to see some golden confetti raining down.
- Yeah!
- Today is the day.
Are you ready to get this started?
[cheers and applause]
Let's do it, y'all. "AGT" starts now.
* *
Talk to me, man. What are your names?
- Scott. - Scott.
- Darien. - And Darien.
- I'm confused.
What's going on?
- Heavy weights coming through.
Heavy weights.
- Why "AGT"?
- We've been pushing as hard as we can
trying to up our game, train harder,
create new workouts,
and "AGT" is just, like, the next level.
- OK.
- You ready?
Head on out there, Darien and Scott.
[cheers and applause]
- We've watched the show growing up,
so we've seen so many people come on and go on
and do bigger and better things.
Everybody's here.
America's watching, so it's definitely the next level up.
[cheers and applause]
- Welcome to "AGT."
- They like you already.
So who are you, please?
- Darien Johnson. - And I'm Scott Mathison.
- Tell us about you.
I see a lot of equipment here.
Why have you come on the show?
- So we each independently did extreme workouts
through our social media channels,
and we followed each other for a long time.
And when we started putting our workouts together,
it really just took us to the next level
as far as the ideas that we had,
the filming we were doing, and just the workouts
that we were creating.
- Our most viral videos have gone up to, like,
200 million views, so they get a lot of love
from the audience, but we want to break into Hollywood.
You know, we've always had dreams of,
like, doing our own stunts on an action movie, et cetera.
So we felt like there was no better opportunity
than to be here in front of you guys.
- OK, well, look, seriously, best of luck.
Actually, you don't need luck.
Just be brilliant.
- Thanks, Simon. - Thank you, guys.
Appreciate you.
[Fort Minor's "Remember the Name"]
- We're just gonna watch them bench press?
- Are we? [cheers and applause]
- I don't know how you make this interesting.
- * Are you ready? * - Yeah.
* *
- * Let's go *
- Wow.
- That's crazy.
- * This is 10% luck, 20% skill *
* 15% concentrated power of will *
* 5% pleasure, 50% pain *
* 100% reason to remember the name *
[cheers and applause]
* He doesn't need his name up in lights *
* He just wants to be heard *
* Whether it's the beat of the mic *
* He feels so unlike everybody else alone *
* In spite of the fact *
* That some people still think that they know him *
* But no, he knows the code *
* It's not about the salary *
* It's all about reality *
- * Making sure his clique stays up *
* That means when he puts it down *
* Tak's picking it up, let's go *
[suspenseful music]
[cheers and applause]
- Oh! - Oh!
- * 15% concentrated power of will *
- [bleep].
- Oh!
- * 100% reason to remember the name *
[cheers and applause]
- I'm tired.
* *
- You.
[cheers and applause]
- Why do I have to do it?
-Ah, they've got to do it for the ladies
- Don't [bleep] throw that thing on top of me.
- If you had to lose one, which one would it be?
- [laughs]
- I don't know.
I don't want to be in the middle.
I don't want to be here.
No.
- Limbs tucked. - Oh, my God.
Hold my hand. Hold my hand.
- Oh, my God.
* *
- [screams]
- * This is 10% luck, 20% skill *
* 15% concentrated *
- Whoa!
- * 50% pleasure, 50% pain *
- * Reason to remember the name *
* This is 10% luck *
- Whoa!
- * 50% pleasure, 50% pain *
* 100% reason to remember the name *
- Just that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's it?
[Imagine Dragons' "Whatever It Takes"]
* *
Thank you very much.
[cheers and applause]
- * Whatever it takes *
[cheers and applause]
- * In my veins *
- Wow.
- Thank you, Sofía. Thank you, Mel.
Appreciate you guys. - That was horrific.
- I closed my eyes. Oh, my God.
What you do is proper fit and hot.
[laughter]
- Thank you. Thank you.
- [laughs] - Fit and hot?
- I mean, this is very interesting.
I don't think we've ever seen this on "AGT."
It looks really hard.
It looks like you guys have good--
I mean, looking at your bodies, I can tell.
- Really good bodies. - [laughs]
- I think it's entertaining.
It's a strength act. It's agility act.
It inspires people to be in shape.
I think you checked a lot of boxes.
I loved it. - Thank you.
- Thank you, Howie. - Thank you.
- I think a lot of people are gonna find this
really interesting. - Yeah.
- And it's--
[laughter]
It was surprising and very, very difficult.
- Did you like it, Terry?
Because you do all that workout stuff too.
- I love it.
People have no idea how hard this is.
- Yeah.
- It's absolutely-- these are my guys right here.
I love these guys. - Yeah.
- Thank you, Terry. - I love you.
- Thank you. - Appreciate that.
- OK, let's vote.
Howie? - Yes.
- Mel?
- Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
- Hey, stop doing that.
You know, you can't do that. - Yes, yes, yes--
- Stop that!
[laughter]
- * Whatever it takes *
- Three yeses.
- Yes.
- Four yeses.
- Thank you guys so much. Thank you.
- * Adrenaline in my veins *
- My guys.
- Appreciate you guys. Thank you.
[cheers and applause]
- I had my eyes closed. - I had no idea.
- They threw that thing. - They threw the big--
- That's amaze-- right over your head.
- Come here, Scott. Come here, Darien.
Ah! Listen, man, this--
this always puts them over the top.
- I know. - It puts them over the top.
- * Adrenaline in my veins *
- That's what I love about the show, moments like that.
- You're one of a kind.
Yes!
You really are.
- I actually thought it was funny.
- That's because you suck.
[laughter]
[dramatic music]
- No, don't drink that.
* *
- We have lost control of our show.
- What are we thinking?
- You deserve to be on the show's 20th season.
[cheers and applause]
- This is huge.
This is so much bigger than anything I do in my hometown.
I love performing,
but I honestly don't get a lot of opportunities
to do it where I live.
- Where are you from? - I'm from Homer, Alaska.
- Oh, my goodness.
- Life in Alaska is really fun.
This is the ranch that I was born and raised on.
We have five horses...
and a half.
A miniature pony, Misty.
[upbeat music]
I've got really big dreams.
Goodbye, horses.
And I'm hoping that "AGT" is the place
that I can help make those dreams come alive.
Big leagues. We made it.
It's quite insane.
There's acts here that have been doing it
for, like, 20 years.
I just met a gentleman, Sunny, who's won Grammys before.
I'm here with Sunny. - Hey, hey.
What's up, folks? This guy is gonna kill it.
- This guy's got some moves too.
I'm just, like, a small town Alaskan kid.
- All right. It's time. It's time.
Go out there and meet the judges.
- Here we are backstage.
It's getting real.
- * Sing along to every note I'm singing *
[upbeat country music]
* I'm coming to you on electric lines *
* I got the music and you got the time *
Make some noise!
* *
[cheers and applause]
- I don't get it.
I mean, it would be fun in a bar.
It didn't do it for me.
But I don't know what I was watching.
- Sofía?
- I'm gonna have to say no.
I'm sorry.
- It's a no, but don't give up.
- Thank you so much. - Gosh, I appreciate it.
- Thank you.
- A little bit nervous, you know?
- I've seen some buzzers getting thrown around
by some of the judges, and I'm like, whoa.
- All right. Let's do it.
It's time. It's time.
All the way from Alaska.
- I feel out of place...
But also, at the same time, I feel like
this is where I want to be.
- Hello.
- Hello. Hello. - Thank you for being here.
- Thank you for having me. - Who are you?
- Hello, my name is Silas Luke Jones,
and I'm from-- I'm from Homer, Alaska.
- From Alaska. - Alaska.
- Have you ever been in a competition this big?
- No, ma'am.
[cheers and applause]
- We're here for you.
Good luck tonight.
- Thank you.
[cheers and applause]
- I've actually always wanted to go to Alaska.
Do you know that?
I've always wanted to go there. - And me.
[ethereal music]
* *
["Misirlou"]
* *
- He's doing it all himself. - Yeah.
[music intensifies]
* *
- I love it when he does that.
I love it when he does that.
[cheers and applause]
[American Authors' "Bring It On Home"]
- * I've walked a million miles *
- Amazing. Everybody's on their feet.
- * Out of fire, sea, and stone *
- [cheers]
- * Bring it on home *
- Silas, what an audition.
Are you OK?
- Yeah.
I'm good.
- That was insane.
I mean, I'm so surprised.
You became a rock star in front of our eyes.
[cheers and applause]
Amazing. Howie?
- Oh, you're kind of like an Alaskan techno Hendrix.
Every one of those things, you were playing.
And it was amazing.
Very exciting to listen to something
and see something like this on season 20.
- * If I'd never been alone *
- If I turned away and I listened
to what you were doing, I would have thought
that it was, like, five or six people on stage.
You're one of a kind.
You really are.
- Thank you so much.
- * I've run the highest wire *
- You're a very nice guy, very humble.
- Yeah.
- And then you just turn into that.
Actually, the guitar is not an easy instrument
to do that with.
I mean, seriously.
I mean, what you did with that was extraordinary.
So you have a really real special talent here.
- That's what I love about the show,
moments like that.
- That's what I wanted to show is
that even small town people can, you know,
put in the work and get here.
- Bravo.
- Now we're gonna vote.
I am going to give you your first yes.
- Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
- Yes.
- One, two, that's three.
Now you got four yeses.
- * Home is where the heart is *
* Love is where you find it *
* Bring it on home, bring it on home *
* Bring it on home *
- Silas. Oh!
- Imagine to teach yourself to do that.
- And not just that,
do the whole beat and the rhythm.
- Yes! They all love you.
- * Home is where the heart is *
- I'm so proud of you.
- What a session this is.
Now I'm worried.
Everybody's got really good gold buzzers.
I think I'm the only one.
Me and you, we're the only two
that haven't pressed a Golden Buzzer.
- Two left. - What?
- Two left. Me and you.
- Oh, you don't get one.
When we were young, we used to watch Bollywood dancing on TV
and used to copy it.
So that was our beginning.
That's how we grew up.
- Wait.
- In the beginning, it was very difficult
for us as a dancer,
because we had no support from our parents or anyone.
- Wait.
- But we chose to become dancers.
[signal beeping]
Everybody has their dream to become superstar.
- You seem like you really do enjoy doing what you're doing.
- Four yeses.
- Thank you, guys.
- You know, it's our childhood dream
to perform in the world's biggest talent show.
And here we are today. We are so thrilled.
[together] Booyah.
[stirring music]
- You know, we love dancing.
Dance has given us everything.
- It's time. You got it.
You got it. You got this.
- Our parents have never supported us
to become a dancer.
But now we think if we achieve something great
they will be able to believe in us.
- Hello. - Hello.
- Who are you?
- We are the Unreal Crew from India.
And we are a dance team. - Wow.
Where in India are you from?
- We are from Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
- How long have you been doing whatever
it is you're gonna do tonight?
- We have been doing it since 2018.
And we have been practicing for "America's Got Talent."
It's been five years.
- All right. You think you can win this?
- 100%. - OK.
Well, good luck. - Thank you.
Let's do it.
[cheers and applause]
- Thank God for the interpreter.
- Here we go. Let's go, fellas.
[cheers and applause]
- Wow.
[dark electronic music]
* *
- You will die here.
[bones cracking]
- Oh!
[eerie laughter]
[bones cracking]
* *
- I want your soul.
[metal cranking]
[cracks]
[blade rings]
- No! Stop!
[energetic electronic dance music]
* *
[cracking]
- Oh, my God!
[blade whooshes]
[metal cranking]
- This is Unreal.
* *
- [screams]
- Yes!
- I will cut you in pieces.
[machinery whirring]
[metal cranking]
* *
[cracking]
[blade rings]
[cheers and applause]
[James Blunt's "Champions"]
- * Everything I ever wanted *
* Standing right in front of me *
- Probably one of the most amazing things I've ever seen.
- * Time stands still *
* I'm feeling so much *
- Simon, what did you think?
- What do I think?
Slightly speechless, if I'm being honest with you.
I just thought it was
so creative, brilliant, scary.
And I can tell how much work
you must have put into this
because this doesn't happen overnight.
- Thank you, sir.
- That's what I call the business.
I--you just got everything right.
I loved that.
I mean, it's amazing, seriously.
- Thank you, sir.
- Perfect audition.
I mean, your personalities, the effort
you put in your clothing.
The moves are incredible.
I've never seen anything like it.
It was one of the best shows we've seen this season.
[cheers and applause]
- We see dance crews. We see contortions.
But to put it all together and to show us something
in a way we've never seen before--
and even the fact that you have an interpreter
doing absolutely nothing
is also amazing.
You deserve everything.
You deserve to be on this show's 20th season.
You deserve to be taken all the way.
- * We can be the champions *
* We can own the night *
* Yeah, it might destroy us, but we gotta try *
* Can't keep looking backwards *
* Running from the light *
* Cause this could be the greatest moment of my life *
- Unreal. Absolutely unreal.
- * We could be the champions *
- What?
- I've never seen anything like this.
You guys are the most creative people
I've ever seen in my life.
- That's his only Golden Buzzer left.
There's no more. - Oh, my.
- * We can be the champions *
* We can own the night *
- Come on over, Unreal. Unreal!
- This is unbelievable. - Thank you so much, sir.
- Oh, no. Thank you.
You guys-- my favorite act of season 20.
I would buy tickets. I would see you.
I think you're gonna take this all the way.
[all cheering]
- * We could be the champions *
* *
* This could be the greatest moment of our lives *
* *
- We're gonna take a very, very quick break
here while we clean up all this Golden Buzzer aftermath.
- That was so good.
- That was amazing. ALL: Thank you!
- Here you go.
- * Up out of the fire *
- That was fresh.
That's never been on here before.
- It was amazing. - All right.
You're gonna be up next. You ready?
- [gasps] Whoa.
- * To the moon and the stars *
- We have the next act here on standby, guys.
Next act on standby.
- My name is Evelyn Errante.
I'm in seventh grade, and I'm a singer.
[chuckles]
- Is this your mom? - Yeah.
- Hi. - Hi. How are you?
- How are you doing? How old are you?
- I'm 13.
I sing everywhere,
in the car, in the shower.
For some reason, I always sing when
I'm doing my math homework, which is really weird.
I sing to my dog,
and then she just usually walks away,
but, um--that's embarrassing, but I'll admit it.
- How does it feel to be here? I can see the face.
Your face is like, wow.
- I'm pumped.
I'm a little nervous.
There's a lot of people,
and, like, I got to make sure I do a good job.
- Are you ready to go out there and meet the judges right now?
- Yeah. - Just her, right?
- OK, come on back there with me.
Are you ready?
- And I hope everybody enjoys it.
- * Whoa *
* Indestructible *
[upbeat pop music]
- * I am indestructible *
- Good evening.
- Hi. - Oh, my God.
You look like you're very, very happy to be here.
- Yes. Pumped.
- What is your name? - My name is Evelyn Errante
- And what do you do?
What is your-- how old are you?
- I'm 13, and I'm a singer.
- Wow. - Whoo!
- And where are you from?
- I'm from Phoenix, Arizona.
- Have you dreamed about this moment for a long, long time?
- Yes, ever since I was a little girl.
- What do you want to do with your career?
- I want to be on Broadway.
I love musical theater.
- Me too.
- I--yes!
- That's Howie's favorite.
- And I want to go into mainstream at some point,
and I want to be a superstar and just make people happy.
- Well, I think it's great that you already have it
very clear because that's when the best auditions happen
on this stage. So good luck tonight.
- Thank you so much.
[cheers and applause]
["Defying Gravity"]
* *
- * Something has changed within me *
* Something is not the same *
* I'm through with playing by the rules
* Of someone else's game *
* Too late for second guessing *
* Too late to go back to sleep *
* It's time to trust my instincts *
* Close my eyes *
* And leap *
* It's time to try defying gravity *
* I think I'll try *
* Defying gravity *
* And you can't pull me down *
* So if you care to find me *
* Look to the Western sky *
- Oh, my goodness! - * As someone told me lately *
* Everyone deserves *
* The chance to fly *
* And if I fly solo *
* At least I'm flying free *
* To those who'd ground me *
* Take a message back from me *
* Tell them how I'm *
* Defying gravity *
* I'm flying high *
* Defying gravity *
* And soon I'll match them in renown *
* And nobody in all of Oz *
* No wizard that there is or was *
* Is ever gonna *
* Break me *
* Down *
* Oh *
- Bravo!
[cheers and applause]
["Over the Rainbow"]
- * Somewhere *
- Evelyn, they're going crazy for you.
- Thank you!
- You are perfect for what you want to do.
It was very beautiful.
You could be like a princess.
It was amazing.
I think you're gonna go very, very far.
I kind of know what Howie's gonna say,
but we still need to listen to him.
Howie?
- You're a lovely young lady
who knows exactly what she wants to do,
and what you want to do is not something
that I really respond to.
[audience booing]
- Mel, what do you think?
- The good thing is you can sing like that at 13.
By the time you get to 18, your voice is gonna be amazing.
I've done Broadway twice,
and it's so hard work.
I would keep on going, keep on training.
That was a great audition. It wasn't perfect.
You've got a lot of work to do, but I'm gonna say yes.
- Thank you.
- Yes.
- Howie?
- I have to be honest with myself.
It's a no for me.
[audience booing]
- OK.
- There's two yeses, one no.
- Simon?
- This is difficult because I cannot bear that song.
A lot of people love it. I get that.
[audience booing]
I will say this.
You've got a lot of guts
to come out here and sing that song.
- Thank you. - I do believe that.
You've got so much ambition.
We should encourage someone like you on this show.
I do believe that.
- So you're gonna say yes or no?
- Uh...
I'm gonna say yes.
- Yes! - Yes.
Three yeses.
- * Over the rainbow *
[cheers and applause]
- Take it and run.
- Thank you so much!
- Bravo!
- Hey.
- This is the biggest reaction we've had.
I actually think we have the right people
to work with her to make her better.
I do.
[audience chanting] Simon! Simon! Simon! Simon!
- Go! - Let's go.
Let's go!
[suspenseful music]
- [screams]
- * Yeah, the beat don't lie *
* Yeah, the beat don't lie *
- One minute.
- What's the theme of what you're doing right now?
- We're here to debut one of our latest inventions.
- OK, it's time.
All right, guys. Go ahead.
[cheers and applause]
- Hi, guys.
Welcome to "AGT".
- Hey, hi. - Who are you guys?
I'm Tej.
- My name is Ebon. - I'm Lars.
And we're from Brooklyn, New York.
- Basically, we met, like, ten years ago,
and these guys are, like, my closest friends,
and we like to hang out and come up with new ideas.
- Do you have, like, regular jobs,
or is this your main job. - We work in tech.
I work in cybersecurity.
I'm a software engineer.
- And do you perform a lot?
- Not really.
We mostly just like to brainstorm.
- Brainstorm and invent.
This is by far the most people that have ever been
looking at us at one time.
- Do you think you have what it takes
to win this million dollars?
- I really do think that we have
what it takes to win the million dollars,
but I think more importantly, if we win,
we could stop having to work our day jobs
and turn this into what we do all the time.
So I think we're in the right place.
- OK, right. Good luck.
[cheers and applause]
- All right.
What are you eating now?
There's not-- oh, we have to eat this?
- Oh, my gosh. - Oh, gosh.
- What is this?
- What do you mean what is this?
You know something weird is coming.
What, you think they suddenly gave us fruit?
- I thought it was you giving us fruit.
[laughter]
But then there's no tangerine, so clearly not.
- Here we go. - All right.
[Rossini's "William Tell Overture"]
* *
- Look, look.
Look.
- He's gonna catch it.
- You want us to do it?
- Is he gonna catch it?
- You did? You got it?
- What is happening?
[buzzer]
- You haven't seen what they're gonna do.
[dramatic orchestral music]
* *
- Uh-oh. Uh-oh.
[blender clicks]
[cheers and applause]
- This is brilliant.
[cheers and applause]
- What's happening now?
What's happening now? What's happening now?
We have to drink it?
Do we have to taste it? - No way.
- I'm not gonna taste it.
[tense music]
* *
[audience chanting] Simon! Simon! Simon!
[audience chanting] Simon! Simon! Simon! Simon!
Simon! Simon! - No! No!
[audience chanting] Simon! Simon! Simon!
- Let's go. Let's go!
- Whoa! - No, Simon!
[audience chanting] Simon! Simon!
[Rossini's "William Tell Overture"]
No.
* *
- It's going. It's going.
[buzzer]
- He's almost got it.
- Oh. - Ew!
- Yes!
[buzzer]
[cheers and applause]
[buzzer]
- Why'd you do that? - That was disgusting.
- What did it taste like?
[cheers and applause]
- * Right, right, turn off the lights *
* We're gonna lose our minds tonight *
* What's the dealio? *
[Pink's "Raise Your Glass"]
- Why'd you buzz it?
- 'cause it was taking too long.
You were sucking for too long. - Did you see the length of it?
I actually thought it was funny.
- Well, that's because you suck.
[laughter]
- Not very good.
- It was inventive. It was silly.
But it kind of worked, if you think about it.
[cheers and applause]
- If you got three yeses,
what would you potentially do next?
- Well, we'd have the human piñata.
This was the human blender.
- Look, the people are gonna like them.
They are. - They are funny.
I wish I could take back my X,
but I don't think I can legally.
- You can. You can. - OK, I will then.
I will.
I'll take it back because I do think there's something.
- Thank you. - I'm just being really honest.
There's something really funny and quirky about you.
Howie? - I'm gonna be honest.
I didn't love this. I did not love this.
[audience booing]
- Come on! Come on!
- But the fact that you said there's a human piñata...
- That's what I want to see. So I do like you.
You can take back my X.
- * So raise your glass if you are wrong *
* In all the right ways *
* All my underdogs *
- OK, let's vote.
- So you're saying? - I'm saying yes.
- Howie?
- I'm giving you two yeses.
Sofía? - I'm saying no.
[audience booing]
No.
- Mel?
- Well, you made me laugh,
and so I'm gonna say yes.
- * So raise your glass if you are wrong *
- Yes.
- * In all the right ways *
* All my underdogs *
* We will never be, never be *
- [laughs]
- I'm so happy they changed their mind.
- Yeah, that was-- - I know.
It was over for a little bit.
- [gargling]
- That was nuts.
- The Jet Boys are gonna be next.
- Oh. - "AGT."
- Japan in the building.
- Whoa! - Whoa!
- You've seen some good acts out there?
- Yeah. - Yeah.
- We saw someone get a Golden Buzzer.
- Wow.
- So amazing.
- Does that make you kind of nervous?
- A little bit.
- All right, you're up next.
- Really nervous, but more excited.
- Yeah. - Yeah.
- Here we go, guys. - Here we go.
Here we go. We're good.
We're good. We're good.
That was terrible. - You're crazy.
- * Raise your glass *
* Won't you come on and come on *
* And raise your glass for me? *
* Just come on and come on *
* And raise your glass for me *
- So who are you?
- We are...
[together] The Jet Boys!
[cheers and applause]
- Tell me all about you.
- We are dance group,
and we love dance so, so much.
- How many years together?
- About two years. - Two years?
- Yes. - OK.
Have you come here to win?
- Of course.
[laughter]
Of course.
- That's all that matters. - We are ready to win.
- OK, good luck.
- Thank you.
- I love a good dance group.
- I love-- my favorite thing is dancing.
- I love dance. Love it.
[soft piano music]
* *
- They're good.
* *
- [singing in Japanese]
* Faith, should I take a leap too *
* *
[music intensifies]
- Oh, oh!
- They're gonna sing?
[all singing in Japanese]
[cheers and applause]
- * Written in these walls *
* Are the stories that I can't explain *
[One Direction's "Story of my Life"]
- You know what?
You guys put on an amazing show,
and you're amazing dancers,
and the whole look is great.
Once you started singing--
I think you guys are amazing dancers.
- What are you trying to say?
- They're not good singers.
[audience booing]
- I disagree.
Obviously, technically, you're really good dancers.
Your energy, you could just feel it coming off the stage.
So when you started singing, I was like, oh, damn.
I was not expecting any of that.
It was brilliant. It was brilliant.
[cheers and applause]
- Yeah.
I was surprised because I really thought that
you guys were just going to dance.
But then you suddenly turned into this, like, boy band,
but with a lot of boys.
So it was great.
[cheers and applause]
- OK, I think we should vote.
Mel?
- I'd like to see you again. Yes.
The boys.
- Howie?
- Uh, no. - Wow.
- You're the Grinch.
[audience booing]
- OK.
Sofía?
- I say yes.
I liked it.
[cheers and applause]
- You know, it's tricky because, look,
I'm glad that you actually sung for us.
You've got so much potential.
Having said that, it was very difficult to hear
if one of you had a really good distinct lead vocal.
I'm slightly on the fence here.
- * The story of my life *
[cheers and applause]
- Based on the fact I think this could be
a lot better,
I'm gonna say...
yes. - Yay!
- * The story of my life, I give her hope *
* I spend her love until she's broke inside *
* The story of my life *
- Jet Boys!
Jet Boys, thank you so much, guys.
You got three yeses.
Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
Thank you. - Do you know what?
I'm not feeling great. - Are you OK?
- No. - He's sick now.
- [laughs]
Like, I tried to stop you.
I'm like, don't do that.
- * The story of my *
- There is definitely something in the air.
- He's gonna twirl me above his head.
- Oh, my God.
- I'll land on my feet. - What is happening?
- We have lost control of our show.
I like my papayas ripe and juicy.
- I think Simon lost it.
[laughter]
- Simon, shouldn't a group like that
record and then lip-synch to a track?
- No. You can't do that.
- If you're gonna dance like that,
even in concert? Nobody's dancing like that.
- Yes, we do.
- My name is Insane Wayne.
I'm from Stockton, California.
Growing up as a kid was different.
I was raised by my grandmother in a house of seven people
with a two-bedroom house.
I got my barber's license
and been cutting hair ever since.
And just imagine, two minutes can change my life.
So I can't wait.
- Chris. - Hey.
- We'll pull you onstage. - Cool.
- I've been doing this 25 years,
and it's a long time overdue.
[cheers and applause]
This right here, this particular performance,
is the biggest thing in my life.
I want to win.
I want to be seen.
- Welcome, welcome to "AGT". - Hey.
- What's your name?
- My name is Dewayne Jackson, but I perform as Insane Wayne.
- So what are you gonna do today?
- Well, I'm a stand-up comedian with a sit-down perspective.
- Right.
- I got into comedy just like Howie.
I actually got dared to do it.
And from that point on, I loved it.
- Really? - Yeah.
- Wow.
- I want to wish you all the best.
- Thank you. - And the stage is yours.
- All right.
Well, my name is Insane Wayne.
And I always like to start my shows off
by letting everybody know that I'm out here advocating
for dudes in wheelchairs. You know what I'm saying?
'Cause I noticed there's a lot of women
out there dating or married to a man wasting his legs.
[laughter]
Got a good pair of legs,
don't know what to do with them,
don't know how to take out the trash,
don't how to take you on a date,
don't do nothing.
[laughter]
I'm just saying.
Ladies, ladies, don't let your blessing
roll past you, OK? I'm just saying.
I'm saying.
'Cause it's like this, ladies.
Start dating dudes in wheelchairs.
We'll change your life.
I get a check every month on time.
What?
[laughter]
You can claim me on your taxes. What?
I got that good parking. What?
OK?
Ladies, I'm the only dude that can give you a real job.
You could be my in-home support service nurse.
What? Where the nurses at?
Where the nurses at?
I'm saying, that job come with benefits--
dental, hearing, and vision.
So I'm just saying, ladies. I'm saying.
Look at me now. Look at me.
You see me? You see me?
I'm starting to look real good, you know?
'Cause I'm just saying this.
While you men out there wasting your legs,
I could have used a good pair of legs.
You know why?
I could have been doing stand-up comedy
this whole time.
My name is Insane Wayne, man.
[cheers and applause]
- Bravo!
Bravo!
[bright music]
- Yeah, Insane Wayne!
- I'm gonna go straight to Howie on this.
Howie? - There's no question.
You are amazing.
You are memorable.
You are likable.
You are real.
And you have such a great shot at doing amazing on season 20.
- Thank you.
- Simon?
- Well, that was one of the best auditions we've had today,
genuinely... - Yes!
- Partly because you're just naturally funny.
Jokes are great. You timed it so well.
You just got to the good bits.
And everything was great.
- You are funny. - Funny, yeah.
- You made me belly laugh all the way.
- What are we thinking?
What are we thinking? What are we thinking?
What are we thinking?
What are we thinking. I'm just saying.
- We don't have anymore.
OK, let's vote.
Simon?
- Absolutely yes.
[cheers and applause]
- Sofía?
- Absolutely yes.
- Yay.
- Howie? - Yes.
- Yay.
- And a fourth yes from me.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
[cheers and applause]
* *
- Really funny. - Really funny.
- Insane.
Oh, that's good.
That's good. Oh, my God.
How do you feel right now?
- I feel awesome. - Oh, my God.
- Feel great.
I almost walked off stage. - [laughs]
- Congratulations. I can't wait to see more.
- Hello? I got more too.
- I know. I can't wait.
Thank you, brother.
* *
[upbeat jazzy music]
- Welcome to "America's Got Talent" season 20.
- Hello. Thank you.
We're so happy to be here.
We're signing up to be in the contest.
- Oh, perfect.
- I'm Carlene,
and this is my husband, Richard.
Look at that. Oh, look at that.
- In 1970, I went to a hoedown,
and I happened to notice this lady standing outside.
She beckoned me to come here. - No. No, that's wrong.
I was doing other things. He claims I did this.
That's not my style. I did not do that.
In your dreams, I did that.
We got married. We just--we have a good time.
We travel. We love going to the movies.
We love television.
- Who are you? - I'm Brandon Raffo.
- Are you nervous? - Yes, a little bit.
- Aww.
I can't wait to see what you're gonna do tonight.
- Thank you very much.
- Yes, he is.
[cheers and applause]
[dramatic music]
- Oh.
* *
- [gasps]
- Oh!
- That's faster than I've ever seen.
It's amazing.
* *
Whoa.
[cheers and applause]
[upbeat jazzy music]
- That's amazing. - How did he do that?
- Amazing.
- You're probably the first person
ever to make juggling hot.
- Sexy. - Yes!
- You might be the fastest juggler in the world,
by the way. - Thank you.
- Four yeses!
- Thank you so much.
- Richard and Carlene, ready for you on stage.
- Thank you.
I hope the judges like what they see us do
because we're going to work
very, very hard during that two minutes.
[cheers and applause]
* *
Hi, everybody.
- My God.
You got a standing ovation already.
So what are your names, please?
- Rich and Carlene.
- Got it. OK.
And are you married?
[together] Yes, we are.
- We are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.
[cheers and applause]
We are here because we are the number one fans
of "America's Got talent." - Aww.
- Thank you.
- We have watched every single episode
since the Terry Fator days and the VCR days.
- Wowza.
- We have not missed one single show.
When we went on vacation, we'd set our tape.
And we'd have a neighbor tape also
in case something happened to the power.
- My gosh, I love you.
- Wow.
- We love you too.
- And I never dreamed that we would
be so lucky as to be here.
I'm so happy to be here.
Thank you for having us.
- It's a pleasure. - Aww.
- OK, well, you know how it works
probably better than we do.
What are you going to do?
- Competitive eating.
[audience clamoring]
- Wait. What?
- You are going to eat? Just eat?
- Well, we're going to eat.
We're going to have a little contest between each other...
- Oh.
- To see who can get to the middle
to finish the fastest.
- What? - Got it.
- I love competitive eating.
- So it's gonna be who eats faster?
- Yes, exactly. It's about speed.
- OK, good. Well, good luck.
- All right. Well, thank you very much.
- Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you.
- Yes.
- All right.
Rich and Carlene.
I have a stopwatch here.
Are you ready?
- OK, here we go. Rich and Carlene.
One, two, three.
[Survivor's, "Eye of the Tiger"]
* *
- Whoa.
[buzzer]
- Stop it. Stop it.
Stop it.
- * They stack the odds *
* Still we take to the street *
* For the kill *
- They need a napkin
- * It's the thrill of the fight *
* Rising to the challenge of our rival *
* And the last known survivor *
* Stalks his prey *
- 30 seconds.
- * And he's watching us all *
* With the eye *
[audience chanting] Eat! Eat! Eat! Eat!
- That's amazing.
[audience chanting] Eat! Eat! Eat! Eat!
- Five, four,
three, two, one.
[cheers and applause]
[DNCE's "Cake by the Ocean"]
* Talk to me, baby *
* I'm goin' blind from this sweet, sweet cravin' whoa-oh *
* Let's lose our minds and go crazy, crazy *
- Thank you very much.
* *
[cheers and applause]
- It brought back a lot of memories, that.
The first time I ever took Mel out for dinner.
[laughter]
Remember? - No.
- You were hungry.
I don't know what we are judging.
I'm gonna be honest with you. - Yes.
- That's the problem.
- Were we entertaining?
- You were. - Yes.
- No. - Yes, you were.
You were.
Mel, you were very rude and buzzed.
What do you want to say?
- I mean, Rich and Carlene, you are a really sweet couple,
you know? But it looked quite savage.
I didn't get it.
I was worried about you both, you know?
Just do it at home, maybe,
but just not on "America's Got Talent."
[audience booing]
- Come on! - What?
- Come on. - Not very nice.
Sofía?
- It's difficult to decide if this
is really an "AGT" act
because what are you gonna be doing if you pass?
- We're going to dance.
He's gonna to twirl me above his head and drop me,
and I'll land on my feet.
[cheers and applause]
- Yes!
- Why didn't you do that now?
- Yeah, why didn't you do that today?
- Well, we would eat-- - Because I'm full.
[laughter]
- OK. Howie?
Yes or no? - Well, no.
- Boo!
- But in the most loving way.
- Mel? - This was a no for me.
- Sofía?
- I'm gonna have to say no.
I'm sorry.
- It's a no, but nice to meet you.
- OK. Well, thank you.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
Thank you for having us. Thank you for having us.
[cheers and applause]
- Richard, Carlene, come here.
Give me a hug. Give me a hug.
You were on "AGT".
Oh, you did great.
- That was one of the most fun things we've had all day.
- That is such a talent.
[egg squeaks]
[buzzer]
- It was like one of those crazy nightmares you have
when you drank tequila.
- What is happening?
- I'm losing my mind.
- Simon, you've got to push here, mate.
[cheers and applause]
- Give it up for Rich and Carlene, ladies and gentlemen.
[cheers and applause]
- Well, that was--
- Interesting.
[laughter]
- I was gonna go say, go get something to eat,
but I think you're already-- you're already good.
[upbeat pop music]
- Nothing like an act getting buzzed
before you go on to make you worry.
- I'm still trying to understand what the act was.
- All right, it's time for you
to go out there and meet the judges.
Are you ready? - I'm ready.
- All right. It's time.
All right, brother. Let's go.
- * There ain't nothing like this *
* To make you feel so alive *
- Hello. Hello.
How are you?
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Who are you? Your age?
- Yeah, I'm Chris Turner.
I'm 35 years old.
And I'm from Manchester, England.
- Yes!
[cheers and applause]
He's from my neck of the woods.
- It's so exciting. - Northerners.
- Yeah, proper. - There we go.
- Are you nervous? - Yeah.
It's nerve-racking. Yeah.
- Is this the first time that
you tried to audition for "AGT"?
- This is the first time. Yeah.
I thought this was the year because a couple of months ago,
I actually got my American citizenship.
- Oh, congratulations.
[cheers and applause]
- Yeah.
- I mean, I don't know what that--
- It's a little flag.
That's what I got.
They give you-- thank you.
- I mean, we're excited that you're here.
And what are you doing tonight?
- I am a freestyle rapper.
- No.
- That is not--
that was not what I expected.
- So that is rap that you make up based on suggestions.
- Oh, wow. - I think this is gonna be fun.
I hope that everybody loves what you're gonna do tonight.
Go ahead. - Thank you.
I'd love to take five random suggestions.
- Amazing. - And I'm gonna ask you this.
Please really make it crazy.
Make it something I could never have thought you would even say
or prepared, OK?
- Do you know what an empanada is?
- I do what an empanada is. Yeah. Yeah.
What's your favorite filling in your empanada?
- Meat. - Meat.
Just meat. I love it.
Mel?
- I'm gonna go with sparkly pants.
- Sparkly pants.
Why not? - Yeah.
- And then, Howie, I'd love a suggestion from you, please.
- Belly button.
- Belly button.
Do you mind if I ask, are you an innie or an outie?
- I'm an innie. - You're an innie.
You're an innie.
Simon, I would love one from you.
- I like my papayas ripe and juicy.
- Simon likes his papayas ripe and juicy.
So far to remind you, meat empanadas, sparkly pants.
I like my papayas ripe and juicy.
Howie Mandel's belly button is an innie.
Then for the fifth one, if we can ask Terry.
Terry, I would love-- Terry Crews.
[cheers and applause]
- Quantum physics.
- Quantum physics? - Quantum physics.
- I wish I hadn't asked Terry now.
Quantum physics.
Lovely stuff.
Well, this, lovely people, is a freestyle rap.
DJ, would you drop that beat?
[hip-hop music] - I'm so excited.
- This is happening.
This is a rap made up on the spot.
Never been seen before.
Please, "AGT," make some noise.
[cheers and applause]
- * Jumping in *
* Real party starter Sofía Vergara likes nice empanadas *
* I got the tiny little slope *
* On the end empanadas *
* Asking all of my friends *
* You know, I'd rather have a filling *
* No need for vegan, no vegetarian *
* You know I'm heeding all the advice *
* I love you clapping *
* Keep to the beat *
* My empanada's spicy *
* Make sure the meat's stuffed in *
* It doesn't even matter how *
* I'll take the chicken or the pig *
* The turkey or cow *
* All of that, slice it up *
* And then dice it, tasty empanadas *
* I'm glad you provide it *
* Next thing, I love Mel B, the Northern glance *
* We're showing on stage *
* You can see the sparkly pants *
* I ain't got no sequins *
* It's just matte black *
* But when I see the pants when I lay back *
* I'm like, look at these *
* Yeah, you're looking under there *
* "Pants" mean "trousers" *
* Here in England, they mean underwear *
* Don't get them confused *
* Otherwise, you might get thrown out of any shop *
* That you want to frequent *
* And now we got this *
* Do the shimmy *
* I'd love to ask Howie, an outie or an innie? *
* He's like, OK, it might be painful *
* To admit to the whole room an innie navel *
* I'm looking down there, no time to think *
* Belly button, yeah, you're pulling out all of the lint *
* All the fluff that gets trapped *
* And throw it away *
* Trying to have a blast *
* Like back in the day *
* I was worried about the scary boos *
* But then I'm looking to my left *
* Got Terry Crews *
* He was saying, gave me the suggestion *
* What is it? *
* He's like, Chris, spit about quantum physics *
* I'm like, oh, no, I rhyme about that *
* I see the waves, see the particles *
* And the cat, that's Schrodinger *
* We bring her all of the stuff *
* Quantum physics, if you think of it *
* It's never enough *
* We split particles, yeah *
* And one time, yeah *
* I see a guy over there and he by ya *
* I see Simon Cowell in the aisle at the store *
* He's picking up some fruit *
* And you know we can't ignore *
* He's like, OK, I'm searching like a pirate for a booty *
* Want to get it real, yeah, I'm telling the truth *
* See, how does he like his papayas? *
* Yes, you please *
* He picks it up, he likes them ripe and juicy *
[cheers and applause]
[The Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight"]
- Ripe and juicy!
- Chris, that was one of the most fun things
we've had all day.
- Oh, I loved it.
I'm fascinated by what you just did.
And I think the audience was.
It's really exciting.
We haven't had somebody doing that on this stage.
And this is the 20th anniversary.
So thank you for being here.
- Thank you.
- To be able to rhyme and make it make sense,
and for you to be so articulate and creative,
that is such a talent.
We could have thrown anything at you.
[cheers and applause]
- It was so clever because I was working out.
You had to put the words in to rhyme ahead on the spot.
It was original.
And that's what we love on this show.
That was really smart.
Good for you. - Yeah.
- It was amazing.
I'm gonna give you your first yes.
Simon. - Yes.
- Mel?
- It's an absolute no-brainer. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
- Four yeses.
- * And me, the groove, and my friends *
* Are gonna try to move your feet *
* I said hip-hop, the hippie to the hippie *
* The hip, hip-hop, you don't stop the rocking *
- Oh, my gosh, oh!
- That was a surprise.
- That's what I love about this show
is the element of surprise.
You just never know what's gonna come next.
- Yeah. - Yeah, you're right.
- [sings vocal warmup]
- Welcome to "AGT". What's your name?
- My name is Xena Angel.
- What are you gonna do tonight?
- A rap song.
[cheers and applause]
- Oh. - OK.
- I write a lot of songs about love, success,
about I believe in myself.
- So you believe you can win? - I believe. Yes.
- Good luck.
- * I say money formations every day *
* I have a lot of money, money is my honey *
* I feel big money, it gives me hot emotions *
* Yeah, big giant fun, I'm liking my life *
[buzzer]
- Oh, my goodness.
- * I'm among the richest people *
* Luxury and wealth *
[buzzer]
* Cash, bargain, cheap, switch lines *
* Dig that pulse, collect it, mine *
* I have big money *
* I'm a magnet, I'm a money magnet *
- Who'd like some money?
- * I'm a magnet, I'm a money magnet *
* I'm a magnet, I'm the money magnet *
* I'm a magnet, I'm a money magnet *
- * Do it like I owe you some *
* Money, money, money *
- What was the name of the song?
- "Money Magnet" because I love money.
- I never would have guessed that.
- You can sing with me.
- I will pay not to. - [laughs]
- They're ready for you onstage.
- OK. - Well, you got three nos.
[upbeat music]
- I loved it.
And you paid us all. I'm gonna make it rain for you.
Yeah.
- * I'm a magnet *
* Money, money magnet * - No.
* *
- That wasn't serious, right?
- There's no way that was serious.
- How much you want to make a bet?
How much you want to make a bet she was serious?
- You ready? Go get it.
- * Spread it like peanut butter jelly *
- What is your name? - Lily.
- Are you nervous about what you're about to do here?
- Very nervous, but it's good. - Good luck.
- Thank you.
[cheers and applause]
[energetic music]
- We've started already. - Whoa, whoa.
- Whoa. What's happening?
* *
- Yes!
He's come to save the day
Yes.
- Oh! - Yes.
- Oh, my God.
- Whoa. - Whoa.
- Whoa. - Oh, my gosh.
* *
- Oh, there's more. There's more.
There's one behind us.
- Oh! - No, no, no, no, no.
- Oh, my God. Oh, no.
- That was amazing.

However, I love this act.

Safe travels. Thank you.
- There is definitely something in the air this year
on this show.
I don't know what is going on.
- How you doing? Hi.

- How long have you been singing and songwriting?
- All my life. And I've had some success.
And--
- Anything you want to tell us that we should know?

So if you will give me one little second
for me to prepare... - Go right ahead.
- I will be right back. - Go ahead.
- Thank you.
- You got this! - Whoo!
- Why didn't she just wear what she was gonna wear?
- My whole life, I've been singing
and playing piano and composing.
And I've shared the stage with acts
like Sheila E., Santana, Robin Williams.
But I always had a vision for my own stuff.
- Seconds away. - OK. OK.
- When I get on the stage, I want to have no limits.
- What is happening?
- I don't know. - Here we go.
Five seconds.
Four, three... - Here she comes.
- Two.
[cheers and applause]
[audience gasping]
- Wait. What?
[dramatic music]
- [bleep].
- What's happening? - I don't know, Sofía.

[buzzer]
[audience booing]
- Off the stage.
[buzzers]
- Oh, come on.
- Um, what did you turn into?
Just out of interest.
- I'm a were-fox. I'm were-fox lady.
- OK, were-foxes can't sing.

- What is going on?
[laughter]
- That was terrible.
- I didn't even get to my scat song yet.
I had a beautiful scat song.
- Well, your costume was amazing.
- Thank you.
- Javy, what's happening? - What's that?
- What's happening?
We have lost control of our show.
Seriously.
- One more act.
- Make it a good one. - Yes.
- Are you ready?
- OK, go ahead and grab your seats please.
[suspenseful music]
* *
- Oh, God.
[cheers and applause]
What's going on?
- Hi, my name's Goldie Hen.
I'm a chicken.
I grew up on a farm in a rural town in New England.
And I always dreamed about being in the spotlight.
- How did you survive the wolf backstage?
- It was a fox.
- Have you ever performed in a stage like this?
- Not this big, no, darling. - Are you ready?
- Yeah, I think I'm ready. - OK.
Let's do it.
[cheers and applause]
[cluck-filled techno music]

What is happening? - He's still laughing.
- I think Simon lost it.
- So funny.
- He hasn't laughed at a comedian this hard.
He hasn't laughed at anything this hard.
You do have a talent.
The question is, what goes beyond this?
- I'm a chicken who can fly.
And I think you want to see me fly.
[cheers and applause]
- Simon, did you like it? - Liked? I loved it.
Are you kidding?
Yeah, seriously.
It was like one of those crazy nightmares you have
when you drank tequila.
And you can't stop it.
- That's what I was thinking.
- That's what it was like.
- All right. Let's vote.
Yes for me.
- I do live on a farm.
And I've got 12 chickens, so I'm gonna say yes.
- I'm gonna have to say no.
[audience booing]
Sorry.
Simon.
- Well, I'm probably losing my mind,
but I am gonna say...
- Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
- Yes.
[cheers and applause]
I actually hurt my stomach.
- I heard you.
- Goldie. Give me a little of that.
- Simon, you're mad.
You've gone officially mad.
- Are you ready to fly when you come back?
- Oh, my God.
I can't wait to show them what I'm gonna do.
- Goldie Hen.
I love your spirit. I love you.
- I love you. - Thank you.
Good night.
We'll see you next time on "America's Got Talent."
- Is that it? We're ending on that?
- That was absolutely nuts.
- What is going on?
What is going on with the show?
- This was a crazy day. It was a great day.
- It's honestly one of the wackiest
I've had for a long time.
- [laughing]
