Wow, this place is amazing.

So I take it you're probably not moving back to Jacksonville then?

I've heard so much about you from Christy. Yeah, I've heard a lot about

So, what do you two have planned for the day?

Well, we plan on going to the hike in Redmond Canyon, and it's right there in

Hollywood.

And so I thought it'd be really fun to just explore Hollywood.

Yeah, I heard you can see like a ton of celebrities on that trail. And my mom

really wants pictures of me in front of the Chinese theater.

I also really wanted to get pictures by the Hollywood sign. Is that close?

Oh, absolutely.

Yes, we'll make sure we bring our phones fully charged.

Is it a long hike up there? How is it? Yeah, it's kind of long, but you know

what? It's going to be great, especially retiring my dog.

Oh my god, your dog.

Hiking with him is always so crazy.

Yes, it was.

He would get so excited.

Oh yeah, remember the time when he just got all muddy?

Oh my god, yeah. And then he got all of us dirty and the car dirty.

We all three needed a shower afterwards.

We had some really good times.

We did.

I think the trails were going to be great.

Oh yeah, absolutely.

Oh my gosh, we had so much fun and that's where we had all our memories.

It's going to be fun. It'll be fun to make new ones.

So I have to go to the office a little bit later, but I really want to take you

guys to this amazing seafood place down in Malibu that Chrissy and I discovered.

So if you're not doing anything later, I'd love to take you down there. Yeah,

no, that sounds great. I've been super interested to try all the different

foods out here, see what's different from here in Florida.

Do you go to the beach?

All the time.

Have you been to the beaches out here?

I've been once, yeah.

And it's a lot colder.

The beaches here are so much colder.

I don't really get in the water.

I was expecting them to be warm, so I did.

And they were freezing.

We've got a lot of cool hikes that right along the beach and there's the cliff

sides and there's a lot of iconic places to go take photos.

Oh, okay. Cool. Yeah. I'm definitely, I want to make sure I get a lot of

pictures while I'm out here so I can remember.

Okay. Yeah.

There's some places we can go down. Awesome.

Awesome. So the seafood place you were talking about, I love seafood,

like crab and all of that.

Do you like calamari?

I love calamari.

Okay, they have the best calamari. Really? I'm not a big calamari fan, but

they've got the best calamari. Yeah, okay.

I have to see if it beats this place I go to in Florida.

It's going to be a tough one because it's Florida.

Okay, did you just say a pizza place in Florida for your calamari? No, beats a

place I go to. Oh, beats a place. Okay, I was like, who serves calamari? Okay,

that makes a lot more sense. It would be fitting for a pizza place in Florida to

serve calamari. It wouldn't surprise me.

I've seen them serve some weird things in their restaurants.

They like to really diversify their whole menu.

But yeah, so favorite appetizer there is the calamari.

They have really good salmon.

Occasionally they have like trout and rainbow trout.

Do they have good scallop?

I love scallops. It's like my favorite seafood that feeds everything.

I don't think I've actually eaten scallops before.

You've never had scallops. No. You have to try them if we're going there.

And they have them. You have to give them a shot.

Are they like oysters or something?

They're like kind of.

They're like these little... They're like this big and like maybe this wide.

You sear them with like butter and garlic on each side for like a minute,

minute and a half. And they are so good.

How interesting.

Yeah, the best seafood there is.

Little white blobs. Yeah, well, they look a little funny, but they taste so

good. I promise.

Yeah, I heard that before.

Maybe you're on your own on that one.

I think her and I can convince you to try at least one.

Oh, maybe we'll see about that.

What's your favorite thing to get there?

I'm a big fan of the salmon. The salmon. Yeah. How do they cook it there? I mean,

is it... Well, so you usually put some sort of like this mild Cajun.

seasoning on it. And then it usually comes with a assortment of either like

mashed potatoes, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower. You can kind of get any of

the seasoned vegetables.

That sounds great.

It's pretty good.

That sounds really good.

I'm very excited to try it.

Right by this place.

So when that parking lot, if you continue on down I

forget how long, probably like 10, 15 minutes down.

You'll run into the famous pier.

Oh, okay.

Yeah, so we can go out there. Yeah.

It's kind of iconic. It's been in some movies and stuff like that. We can take

some photos.

Yeah, that'd be great.

That'd be super fun.

They got a Ferris wheel. There's a Ferris wheel. I'm so scared of heights.

Okay, so we'll do the Ferris wheel.

I mean, if I'm in California, I'll just try and face some fears. Maybe I'll do

the Ferris wheel.

They do have those.

those they have those street vendors do you like um like pineapple and mangoes

oh yeah yeah so they have uh these um people come out there and they cut them

up and put them in these things with like taheem and i've had that before

they yeah they have those on the beach they're amazing they're so good i love

the watermelon the watermelon is my favorite that they do it with which one

do you like the best if not the watermelon pineapple mango the pineapple

I'm not a big pineapple.

I've never been a big pineapple fan. Well, fuck you then.

Unless on pizza.

Pineapple on pizza is good.

Yeah, have you ever ridden those scooters? Have you ever rented those

scooters? I did once and I fell.

So I've been a little scared to drive them again.

So, maybe we'll give that a go.

Maybe I'll have better luck out here than I did down there.

If the streets aren't as busy. It gets so busy down there. On the beaches.

Yeah. Like, trying to walk anywhere is a nightmare.

The weather is supposed to be so nice too.

Remember all those times where this one time we went on the trail and we saw a

lake and no one was around?

Oh my god, yes.

That was so fun.

Well, back in Jacksonville, there was no one around when we were on this long

hike and we were sweating.

So we decided to get naked and jump in. It was so fun. It was so refreshing.

Wait, y'all just went skinny dipping? We did.

Except we forgot to think of the fact that we didn't have towels.

So we had to run back topless everywhere and hope that we didn't pass anybody.

We were running all of them trying to get back to the car. Oh yeah.

Oh my gosh, that was so funny.

Oh, we had such great memories hiking.

We did.

There's so many fun things to do in Jacksonville. I'm so excited to see what

there is to do out here with you being out here.

Definitely a lot more to do.

The hiking is great here.

And there's so much entertainment and so much museums and Broadway shows.

I was really curious about all the different things to do. Shows, museum

entertainment, all of that kind of stuff that you guys have.

I think my favorite time that we went hiking back in Jacksonville was probably

when we did the overnight trip. Oh yeah, I remember.

We were like on this mission to find, I don't even remember what plant, or I

think, was it like a mushroom or something?

We were trying to find something that we found online, and I just remember we

like set up a tent and everything, and then we thought the tent was like

haunted. Oh yeah, I remember. So we kept moving it around everywhere.

And it was the longest night. It was so fun.

Yeah, I totally remember.

Oh, wait a second.

Oh, yeah. Oh, I think that's my mom. Oh, okay. She wants to make sure I'm safe.

last ingredient is. And of course, it's the hardest one to try and figure out.

So since you've been in LA, what have you been up to? Like, what have you been

Well, we've been watching lots of Broadway shows.

Yeah. While you're here, do you happen to like roller coasters?

I love roller coasters.

Roller coasters are so much fun. They're one of my favorite things.

Oh, yeah. There's a lot of, like, Parks here. There's even Disneyland.

Do you have you been to Disneyland yet? No. Oh, oh my god. We have to go.

Yes. Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Yes. Live is so cool.

It sounds like there's so much to do out here. Oh, yes.

Yeah. I have to start planning another trip. Like, I don't think we're going to

be able to fit all of this in.

Universal Studios.

There's so much to do out here.

It's so near compared to Jacksonville.

so i know how we talked about you haven't ridden those the scooters or

anything right that since the one time okay so if we were just happened able to

get a really beginner friendly scooter

okay we should be down to go and explore in some off-road trails yeah that sounds

fun oh yay i love off-road trips you can't find many of them oh

yeah that'd be so fun yeah definitely it's so nice because uh we can take

a scooter in the mountains we can go up next to the beach oh there's so much to

do the craziest thing is that like You guys, you have snow, you have sunshine

all at the same time. It's very strange to see.

Like you look up at some of the mountains and they have snow on them. It

was like one of the first things I noticed when I came here.

You can snowboard and surf in the same day.

Yes, yes.

I don't know that I would trust myself surfing.

I did it in Florida. I'm not very good.

I feel you. I don't really like going in the ocean.

Not an ocean person.

Beach, amazing.

Ocean.

A little bit too big, too fast.

Not so much.

I love the ocean.

Oh yeah, me too. I love swimming.

Swimming is great. We'd be happy with swimming. Oh yes, yes, definitely.

Well, do you like boogie boarding?

I actually haven't been boogie boarding. Oh, you haven't? No. Oh my gosh. Okay.

That's my favorite thing to do. I don't like surfing, but I do love boogie

boarding. How do you do it? Like what is boogie boarding?

Well, it's just like this board and then you just put your body and you ride the

waves on top of it. Oh, so you just, it's like you lay it down.

Yeah. On the board. Yeah, absolutely. That sounds much more fun than surfing.

It's all the good parts of surfing without the fear of falling. Yes. Yes.

Absolutely.

it's so fun and the boogie wars are like so cheap to rent like five bucks here

yeah that's crazy i feel like i've seen them like in florida and they're so much

more expensive oh yeah oh and we can also go stand up paddle boarding have

you ever done that before no that's on my bucket list yeah that sounds fun oh

i've got a funny story about paddle boarding oh yeah yeah

This is why I don't do the ocean.

So I was out with some friends who are big ocean fanatics, and we're going to

go look for sharks. And I thought they were joking.

So it took me about half an hour to figure out how to stand up on this

board.

Fell a lot, but when I fell, I fell onto the board. So I was like, okay, I'm

good.

And then right when I felt like I was getting the hang of this, they yell out,

oh, look, we found a shark.

And so I just heard shark.

And I straight flung stone off of that board.

Paddle went one way, board went the other. I was like, oh, this is how I

die.

That's a good reason to not like the ocean.

Of all the reasons I've heard, that reminds me of my friend who, he loves

surfing. And on the bottom of his surfboard, he has...

not a seal spray painted in gold spray paint so it's reflective so sharks would

be more drawn to it anyway oh my gosh he's like well i haven't gotten bitten

yet not a seal because they read english but i'm like they're just gonna see that

it's reflective and come to you

What do you do for fun back in Jackson?

I'm a homebody.

I always happen.

So I stay in a lot. I watch a lot of movies and I read and I crochet. I feel

like an old person sometimes.

I remember you used to make those big, huge blankets. Yeah. Oh, we're so good

at those.

She was always the one who was able to get me out and do things.

Oh, man.

Those are some good memories. I still actually have one of your blankets that

you quilted. Oh, that's so sweet.

Or crocheted, I mean.

Excuse me. It's been a minute since I've done quilting. I was never good at that.

I did try, but it was a failed experiment for sure.

Oh, but you've always been so artistic.

I think I've just liked always having a reason to stay home.

Like I said, I love being at home, but just being able to cuddle up with a

blanket or something.

Oh, yes. Yeah, I know.

That's why I'm so excited about this trip. It's going to be nice to get

outside and explore, see new things. Yes, absolutely. I'm glad to get you out

of the house.

Yeah, so have you done any other artwork?

So I've actually just started oil paintings.

Oh, fun.

Really hard though. Oh, it's a lot harder than I was expecting Yeah,

so it's a lot trickier

take a picture of the Hollywood sign and then paint it when I get back from the

movie. Thank you. Oh, that would be so wonderful.

You definitely have the space in this house. Oh, yes.

Which is still insane to me. Oh, yes.

It is a very big house. I love it.

Yeah, I'll just send you some stuff. I've been into, like, painting and resin

pouring and stuff.

Well, have you taken any classes?

No, I've been thinking about starting again, but I've been doing so well with

the tech stuff that I just haven't really gotten back into classes and all

of that.

Wow, so how are you learning? Just experimenting?

Yeah, I have a really good mentor, and he's great. He helps me with whatever I

need.

So yeah, it's definitely like cut costs with having to go to class and

everything. Oh, wow.

That's awesome. So is it like private lessons?

Well, it's on the job experience. So I'm actually like working and getting paid

to learn. So it's a pretty cool deal.

Oh, wow.

Yeah. So for now, I'm going to keep doing that.

You know, maybe see where that goes. Maybe go back and take a couple classes.

What about you?

You know, I have thought about doing art classes, but

I'm not sure yet. I've just been so busy with

work and everything.

How is work going, by the way?

It's going really well.

I think mostly, I don't know. We like to eat out a lot. I would say we're

foodies. Yeah.

So definitely sounds like he would be a foodie.

Which is actually kind of perfect for you.

And he actually cooks really, really good. Oh, really?

I'm so blessed to have someone who cooks so good.
