That's the easiest $50 I ever made.

Running a winter girl agency involves
more work than one might think I not

only have to send models to
photographers when they call me But I

have to send the right girl to the right
person depending on his particular taste

For instance last week a photographer
called whose main interest was in legs

sent Marcia, who was noted for her long
and shapely legs.

Marcia had never worked for this
photographer before, but found that if

she just followed directions, the camera
would do the rest.

In this case, Marcia was only instructed
to bring a blouse.

But if the photographer is looking for a
particular effect, I have to make sure

the model takes the proper clothes along
with her.

And this can be an ordeal, because even
though the clothes will eventually come

off, it's good to have something
provocative and easily manageable.

Marcia told me that at this particular
photography session, she had almost worn

a slipover blouse with no buttons.

That wouldn't have fit in with what this
photographer wanted.

Marcia... was used to a minimum of face
posing, for the camera started back down

the body.

She was noted for her bodily charms, as
are all the models in my Rent-a-Girl

agency.

sometimes it's hard for me to keep track
of who is who but i have a large card

file with all the information needed to
remind me when a photographer wants a

particular girl i sometimes have to call
the girl on short notice and persuade

her to drop what she's doing and go
right over

Little Anita gave me a lot of trouble
because she was very sleepy when I

called. But she went anyway, and having
it be a shorty pajama job doesn't help

her mood any.

She had just gotten out of bed, she told
me, and then had to make like she was

ready for bed again.

She had to keep smoking or she would
drop to sleep, she said. But I rather

think she exaggerated.

My models all look fresh and beautiful
no matter what, and that's why they keep

getting called back by the same
photographer.

But Anita was called on such short
notice that she didn't even have time to

spend on her hair, and she was a little
worried that it looked messed up.

But the photographer wanted her to play
the part of a girl just getting out of

bed, so Anita worked out fine.

She was, however, glad when he said, all
finished, and she could relax and

collect her pay.

I always instruct my models when I give
them a booking that they must be

punctual.

If they have to wait for the
photographer once they get there, it's

tiresome. But if they're late and the
photographer's ready, then his whole

schedule is put out of order and the
girl just might lose out on a job.

My newest model, Carol, had to wait an
hour for her photographer to finish up

what he was doing.

She decided to fill the waiting time by
reading and was happy to relax with a

magazine.

Only even the prospect of making waiting
pleasant can be disturbed by unexpected

events.

In Carol's case, the light stopped
working and she had to go through all

sorts of problems making it work.

Luckily the photographer usually keeps
the room warm enough to account for the

scarcity of attire of his model

She was determined to read that
magazine, even if it meant disposing

with part of her nightgown for the time
being.

She didn't have to wait long, but was
exhausted before she even started.

Oh, well, my days usually exhaust me,
too.

Spending the hours sitting down by the
phone can be tiresome also, though I'm

happy I don't have to sit under the
bright lights that I used to have to

when I myself was a model.

This life is much easier and more
profitable. Anybody want to rent a girl?

Contrary to what the majority of people
think, painting is not the simple matter

of picking up a brush, applying oil to
canvas and creating a work of art.

I'm John Rogers Riley and my studio is
located here in Midtown Manhattan.

You must have the right model for the
job and you must work out the best pose

to create the mood you're trying to
capture.

That requires a certain amount of
patience on the part of artist and model

plus a good bit of hard work

Here

as you can see we haven't as yet found
the right pose

I'm doing some preliminary test
paintings for a client of mine who has

commissioned me for a rather big job.

So I shall paint various models and from
them choose one.

I was interrupted by a young lady
answering an ad I had placed in a daily

paper for models.

She wanted the job.

I told her to undress over there and
that I would let her know whether or not

she could have the job.

When she seemed somewhat shocked by what
I said, I pointed out that in my

business this is necessary and indicated
to the model I was currently working on.

If you want the job, that's what you'll
have to do.

She thought it over for a moment, then
decided to undress.

As she did this, I went back to
finishing my painting.

I gave the first model a break and went
over to talk to the new girl.

As she turned around, it was apparent
that she had a good figure, so I

outlined just what the job was about.

I also included the fact that I was
happily married and had two children.

I asked her to wait.

so that I could paint her after I
finished the first model.

This girl has been modeling for three
years and this was her third job for me

She has an impish quality that projects
quite well

I finished the first painting and told
the new girl that I was ready for it.

As she stood there I could see she was
quite nervous.

I tried to get her to assume a pose I
wanted, but due to her inexperience, she

couldn't quite manage it.

I asked my first model, who had waited
to stay to help out, to show her the

pose I wanted.

It really isn't so difficult when you
learn little tricks of posing.

Like picking out a certain spot to
watch, then letting your imagination

carry you off somewhere so as not to get
tired too quickly.

The new girl had a very nice figure and
I was sure that I could use her.

I told her this and she seemed pleased.

I also commented on the fact that this
being her first time, she did quite

well.

I thanked them both and waited for my
next appointment.
