Hammond Hall at the
turn of the century...

when the age-old mystery of the Hammond
monster was at last revealed to all England.

That mystery, which although
by 1900 had become a legend...

was, indeed, a real tragedy
and constant threat...

to the lives of all the seemingly
doomed members of the House of Hammond.
