engage your minds to the clutch Carol

Park

Geron have taken a vehicle 1985 red

Chevy sedan Illinois plates 8 tango kilo

9 six suspects are armed and dangerous

now we know what they're driving but it

happened a mile away ok

what makes you so sure they're coming

this way what's that way Park Towers

right yeah what's that way kenderson

height exactly when I was wearing the

two-tone blues and a robbery went down

among the rich I parked myself in the

most direct route home for the robbers

but what if they don't live in the

projects

you stop them you mean um gramma you

know a better way

you move and I'll stop the pain for good

just like the old timers you gotta cut

them up with the past thanks Katie did

you have to do such a good job

wait for you

yeah I'm Jeff Johnson I do for

I know him I arrested him and I thought

he looks a million rape case about six

months ago names Charles Johnson

import-export business that's around

here

do we know who killed him no but the

killer knew Johnson witnesses say he

called him out by name Paul salvos

daughter pic Johnson out of a lineup

look at this position on the case

defense moved to suppress her testimony

motion was granted the case was tossed

out five days ago

I suppose nobody got a description the

Hitman that happened too fast but you

know they found a busboy in the bank he

says he saw a guy take off in a burgundy

Town & Country station wagon

now maybe we should talk to salvos

daughters to the salvo no one can get to

her after they decide to suppress her

testimony she went to a deep depression

savvas got her in some institution

salvos got a wreck in himself he's been

in construction a while but he's a

little tenant and a Bellini crime family

I know I'll keep it in mind

and thank you for avenging my daughter's

honor I got you all cash just like you

asked I appreciate that it's easier for

me when it's in cash I'm still kind of a

stranger here what you have done tonight

convinces me you're a stand-up guy

called ELISA Volvo call you about those

other matters in the next couple of days

okay what's the matter Carlo

when you told me your daughter was raped

did I say I'll call you in a couple of

days no I gave you vengeance right away

that's true but we're opening up a new

way of doing business here with your

people it's more dangerous more

dangerous perhaps but it's also more

profitable we don't know that yet

besides which I gotta get it okay for

you to move this stuff let me explain

something to you I am NOT a peasant when

our heroin was grown in the poppy fields

of Thailand I was there when it was

refined in the laboratories outside

Palermo I was there I followed it to New

York and I will bring it here don't

worry about it all right take it easy

all the territories are set up here they

have been for you we will be careful but

we are in a position now to take over

the opium as it's grown in Asia and

refine it in Europe the police in South

America are cracking down on all the

narcotics operations with their troubles

we can move right in we have treaties

with the Colombian the blacks you have

the treaties that's why I'm here I have

no treaties you're not involved I told

you we are here to do business with

partners in it

Peter

hi Katie what have we got

somebody finally got the Jackie Hanson

the king of Mexican heroin shot him off

his throne I can see that one shot when

her guy knew what he was doing yeah

where's Hanson's driver we just got here

the cat likes empty the big guy heaters

driver bodyguard where is he I haven't

seen him get a hold of cherry McNichols

tell me we've got an organized crime hit

notified the organized crime division

and sit on that Cadillac

where's heater just went out the back

door

what what do you what what hey heater

what your boss is dead yeah no I was out

of the bathroom what are you running for

I just called the Sun what are you

talking about anyway I'm talking about

you heater you hid in the men's room

while somebody blew your boss away

no I've to lie hey man I go to bathroom

there's nothing it don't bother come on

here that's the classic sellout did you

wash your hands - what are you crazy

there's nothing I could do about okay

Peter if any handsome movie

you saw this dad

no no no I swear that's right well I

think somebody made a phone call already

I could save your life Peter but you got

a roll over for me no I don't do that

for no cop everybody in the loop knows

that you owe the bookies three times

what you make you come with me now and

you're off the streets for a while

they'll think we're just holding you for

questioning

it'll buy you some time so study can

cool off I think maybe you didn't tell

his father out maybe you just had too

much coffee

okay okay but I promise you nothing

come on get you out of here while

there's still time we'll need the police

now lady you've got some explaining to

do here you're not thinking I could help

him Sonny nobody could help them I'll

help you yes teacher

congratulations got more brain to my

thoughts

don't forget me

why don't you sit down can't you see how

busy it is the last time I sat down with

you my boss almost fired me your boss

won't fire you Gina I can promise you

that please join me I have something for

you I'll leave it in the paper I can't

take anything from you I hardly even

know you I already have a boyfriend you

will have a lot of boyfriends Gina but

you already know that look

you asked me to call this guy last night

I don't know why but you're good about

it I'm leaving you money put it

somewhere where no one can find it you

already gave me $200 last week divided

dress always hold on to the cash because

you are young and beautiful you think

life will be easy and it seems like that

for a while but does not stay that way

then it's nice to have a lot of cash I

have an appointment I'll see you soon

thousand dollars

don't they my intelligence you've talked

on the phone to this guy you met him on

Division Street he gave you two bundles

7500 bucks on each one 15,000 total wash

your hands while your boss got hit and

all you know is his first name Ronny

you expect me to believe Tennant yeah

yeah the money was there and I needed it

honest

that's all I know I'd seen around town

he was uh going with some soldiers from

the Blaney family and he looked like

they was working for him Nexxus not

custody stayed with him give me a good

description of Ronnie baby hey

lieutenant uh Caity Mahoney said it you

would give me a new identity if you know

if I cooperated oh yeah

while your cooperating with Cassidy here

figure out who you'd like to be well

it's my opinion that you still be a rat

all right here

let's take down the kid

come on beautiful

ballistics says the shells from the

Chuck Johnson and Jackie Hansen kits

matched perfectly same a gun anything on

the prints

negative they were smudged but they

managed to get enough of a set the claim

with the NCIC the feds say they got

nothing on the shooter

well he did not paid the dump his boss

by a lieutenant a Bellini family Ronnie

something Ron Scalisi probably another

rotten apple gives the Italian community

a bad name something else

our hitman may be imported come on let's

sort it out what putting together the

picture the distinguished stranger in

his late forties calls his victims by a

name so far does it were one bullet to

the heart irie interviewed the woman who

was with Chuck Johnson at Alma's she

said he got a call from some woman

asking him to meet her there before he

was shot

the ladies set him up now Jackie Hanson

had control of the sudden room if you

wanted to bring Mexican heroin into this

city you had to make a deal with Jackie

it looks like salvo and the Bellini

family got tired of doing business with

him but maybe it's more than that what

do you mean Katie if they just wanted to

hit Jackie they could have dumped him

and his bodyguard not paid heater off

yeah yeah it looks like they don't want

to take chances with their hit man he

could be the enforcer sent over here to

start up the new operation well now we

gotta burn up the wires to the Italian

police I got special units working on a

roll man Palermo but they got a mandate

to break these gangs we can wrap this

guy up and ship him back up the way down

the dock and throw away the key that's

right

Italian cops declared war on their mom

they should be able to give us the clue

yeah but I know better our mob guys work

if they got a high-class hitter fresh

off the boat they can turn this town

into a shooting gallery but I've been

locking up these mob thugs since I first

put on the badge the so far hasn't been

much more than a fight to a draw and

they keep coming and they've never

changed

Gino they're giving you these over your

family name I'm getting more now though

you don't getting a lot of heat some of

the I worked in ask me of

detective Gia Nellie's on two payrolls

the police departments and the maps I

know most of my kidney but it's some of

them weren't doesn't make your job any

easier but you're bigger than jerks like

that I'm bitter against the hoods Katie

not the other cops as to who's they give

our families a bad name

Italian Americans have done too much for

this country they don't deserve a bum

rap with a bunch of troops they won't be

caught dead with that's one of the

reasons I joined the cops I hope you

never said that before

Gino now you've done it I'll never be

able to look at a plate of spaghetti

without a tear coming to my eye Gino

we're gonna make this case by you and

Cassidy keep an eye on salvo and Katie

find out what he's been doing since the

jury turned that dead rapist lose five

days ago where he went who he saw I'll

contact you time for some basic ways to

come to work

but the policewoman was right not carlos

heels when he hit jack eh

you think he's to blame for that who

knows how much that popped he Doris told

the cops by now

he couldn't have told her much what did

he know and we get a bonus please woman

took out Jackie Anson's hotheads son for

us Tommy called Oh worries me he makes

his own rules

Paul when I was in the old country six

months ago we all realized we needed

somebody to make things work from their

end I asked all the old men who was the

best Carlo got all the votes yeah yeah

Tony but he's here now I hate to have

that much right now the guy who's still

a foreigner who do you think put this

outfit together college professors

English teachers your old man have an

accent mine where the hell do you think

we all came from the freaking Queen

Elizabeth liner all right

we did okay for a long time without

anybody from the old country Tony we

make a lot of bucks sure and we're

splitting it six ways now what about the

rest of the drug gangs huh

what about the political problems trust

me I can take care of the political

problems and Carlo is all set to carry

the words of the other games he'll fall

in line they'll all eat at our table the

way we want to eat or they'll starve

getting the cat back in the garage come

on 3124 yeah same thing else off the

story went in by chance daylight prison

trucking oh that's a Bellini family

that's Tony Alva get a Petros hey there

Kosovo subject is proceeding west on

Randolph Avenue world at fail let me

know when he settles for a lunch you got

a gig you should be grateful

salvo and Tony Alvin just had a meeting

high in the sky

something's happening I just picked up

an Italian police reply

our request they got a candidate take a

look

we should pass that around what's his

story form for lamo Sicily 1938 long

record of assault arrest receive get

questioned in connection with a half a

dozen Union Sicilian narcotics slaves no

charges of oppressed the Italians wanted

to bed and he qualifies on both counts

he's a killer and he knows their clinics

salvos pulling into row Sadie's we got

him covered ok Gina Warren was there the

police in Rome know that he was in

Thailand Burma and New York

sounds like he's setting up a major

connection

I'd like to turn him over to the

Italians personally

now the Italian police put so much heat

on his bosses that they think he was

shipped over here until things cooled

down and me laughter little business

a very nice man double just sat down for

squid with a lady other than his wife

stay would

must've wanted to change a diet too

you got anything I can take to the

district attorney yeah not yet but you

knew enough judges to get us a wire

almost but not quite

we're gonna prove an international

narcotics conspiracy we've got to tie it

together step by step starting with a

poppy field on the borders of Cambodia

and Thailand

exactly the carlo's already after the

competition

you took out Hampton the king of Mexican

heroin can't prove that Katie we gotta

figure out who is going after the Knicks

I'm working on that

I'll take you to the station and go

check it out

get the flowers and agreeableness now

stay away you see anybody anyone in this

place that we don't know

go

of in the other two

let's go

you too where's your boss me Leo Fuentes

how come you're not with him

doing business at the bandsaw you don't

need us Brunner respite carrying

concealed weapons one more time oh are

you kidding it make a move without you

to hold on to these champions I'll be

back

hello that you know

Yolo Yolo where you were

No

Emelia printer

third time's the charm Carla

you've only been coming here a short

while everyone admires terrific was he

here this afternoon no not when I got

here at 5:00

we enjoin you I would be honored I know

your name from television news officer

Mahoney I don't know if you know mine

Carlo Maranzano born July 13th 1938

Palermo Sicily then after weeks I am a

stranger in this city I had no idea that

police was so interested in a foreigner

simply trying to make a living actually

we're interested in a professional

killer who we think has already scored

three times the last time about four

hours ago at the Eragon dance hall you

should say what you mean and not beat

around the bush are you willing to come

down to the station and answer a few

questions well I see no point in going

to police headquarters I am an importer

of artworks I have an office a business

car very impressive fell apart at the

same charade

what do you mean charade what do you

think these people would think of you if

they knew you made your living blowing

people away with a nine-millimeter

pistol that you killed the top Colombian

hard narcotics dealer a couple hours ago

you even even sit in the same room with

you of course if I pick up the check you

really believe that don't you please

don't embarrass me in front of these

people who respect me you think you and

I are very different aren't you you

better believe we are this man you speak

of this professional killer isn't it

possible that sometimes he does what you

dream of doing

no I enforced the law I put down bad

people who hurt good people that's my

job and I'm good at it real good

I understand officer Mahoney you want to

kill me no I don't want to but I think I

have to

I've been looking at the latest reports

of investigation on the CARLMAN bono

case including this unusual face to face

between Marzano and Mahoney at Rossini's

restaurant two nights ago

what was the purpose of this fishing

expedition Mahoney

I knew he saw me talking to the hostess

and I was just trying to shake him up a

hit man who was killing people when you

were in junior high school would lose

his cool and confessed to three murders

now wait a minute commander Katy took a

shot at I'm sure but she says he lost

his cool now maybe just maybe somewhere

down the line we can use that now street

cops get an instinct sometimes and they

follow that instinct and I'm not gonna

fall Katy for that and I guess you had

an instinct where Paul salvo is

concerned so you put a tail on him he

must have read that tail because he's

gone to ground for the last 48 hours he

hasn't done anything more suspicious and

take his wife to the beauty parlor maybe

he's just trying to throw us off while

Carla moves the stuff according to your

reports for the last 48 hours

Marin's anno hasn't been at his office

he hasn't been at his hotel he isn't

even in this city as far as you know

he'll be back he took out two major

narcotics dealers Jackie Hanson in a

milieu of Puentes and he's got the

Bellini family and Tony Alban

practically running errands for him did

you run that by the Narcotics Division

we've got an ongoing investigation

commander we've got a chance to knock

off an attempt by the mob to open up a

whole new narcotics operation on an

international scale did you tell that to

the organized crime division not when

I've got double homicides in the

furtherance of that attempt on my desk

do you know how difficult it would be to

root out this connection once it gets

established in this country once they

start to control all the street fixes

all the lines of cocaine all the keys of

heroin every time a kid dies with a

spike in his arm it represents a net

profit for Carlo and company all right I

can see you're on a holy crusade but

here's what you're gonna do from here on

it you work with narcotics and you work

with the organized crime division is

that understood lieutenant

yes sir Mahoney commander we were the

one yes sir that's better and you go by

the book

by the book

I had nothing further at this time you

know I think in his own way he loves us

maybe he's right maybe I did blow the

case by talking to maranzano at the

restaurant he didn't leave town maybe

he's not coming back

Katy today a cop in this town can't walk

up to a homicidal creep and tell him

that we're gonna bury him

I'll hand it my badge look I'm having a

problem getting an authorization to

wiretap

I'm not surprised it's only a matter of

time though so put it in and we'll have

it in place when the authorization comes

through Terry you're flipping felony

wait pancakes around so what else is new

you following me I don't understand what

you're doing here the answer the first

question is no I'm not following anybody

at the moment the answer the second

question is I'm trying to find Carlos I

see him at the restaurant besides that's

no reason to hound me just because he's

a good customer what are you getting so

angry for that is thought you might like

to see this it's a restaurant no I don't

like to see it I can hardly believe it

seems like the most generous guy in the

world all the waiters like them what

about you Gina none of your business

maybe it is

have you seen this man before now a

young woman made a phone call to it

asked him to be at Alma's on Broadway

while he was there Carla called out his

name and killed him oh my god it's Carla

called you lately no yes just once the

night before that weird he called from

New York

got that he missed me did he say when

he's coming back

I don't know

come when he got back he didn't ask me

to make any more phone calls setting

people up for it I don't know how

generous was he with you Gina you said

he was generous with the waiters he must

have been even more so with you look I

don't care what you do just leave me

alone okay

you guys getting anything well if it was

what you mean by anything we got Tosca

we got La Boheme what you haven't matter

we got the largest collection of

illegally obtained opera records in the

world so far now he does his wife like

it his mother-in-law likes it I took the

tapes on his office in his construction

site nothing

look key do you know when I were talking

if internal affairs scoops us up for

this wiretap but the lieutenant

authorized it we'd be all right wouldn't

we oh sure the most we could get would

be two to five years at Marion federal

penitentiary uh-huh what a great way to

go undercover hey you like opera I'm

kind of catchy Carlo here who is this

this is Paul I'll go I'm anxious to get

on with the business what's happening

you keep your shirt on okay now listen

everything's arranged I'll send the

Krupp to meet you they're gonna meet

someplace and do something yeah yeah

yeah looks like Carlo bringing my stuff

in and huh sure he is I got the word

from his girlfriend

11:30 at the agreed place no day a night

which is see you soon you say no yes no

prob

good luck that's beautiful we think this

crowd must be a tall blond guy that

salvo dropped off downtown a few well

somebody is following on my hope yeah

Cardenas or Wilson gave it to here nice

so we know we got a big shipment of

heroin coming in from New York tonight

or tomorrow now Carlos kicked the hell

out of the opposition and put his first

delivery together the Palermo connection

is plugged in I have to call Flynn night

I got to tell him what we got

they'll come unglued I know that but it

doesn't change anything

there's a major junk shipping in the

works now he can have Narcotics Division

crime details covering every Airport

train and bus station I got no choice

where you can talk to Madison we got the

information from an illegal wiretap you

said we'd make this case not narcotics

or organized crime

you kind of promised detective Gianelli

I know how you'll feel Gino but I have

to tell a true

look I'm sorry I I should have known

better guys III over reacted I wanted us

to make this case yeah don't you want

Judge mu is secretary just phone

you got legal authorization for a

wiretap on the way you've got the luck

of the Irish Terry not quite I have to

face Flynn in the morning I'm not

looking forward to it

yeah well tell Nick Nichols office yeah

yeah she's here Mahoney yes Gina you

must be at work look I'm going crazy

you said I helped to kill the man no I

didn't say that there's no way you

couldn't know what that call was for

what is it Gina

Carlo called he said he'd be in the city

tonight he asked me to wait for him

after the restaurant closes it's tonight

did he say when the plane is coming in

no I told him my kid brother could meet

a medal here but he said he had to fly

in earlier meet a train later he offered

me $50,000 to live with him he said I

would belong to him so much for romance

I'm not that kind of a girl I know I

know where else you wouldn't calm Thank

You Gina everything's gonna be all right

I promise

he's meeting your train yeah there's a

dozen train yard he could be using

yeah but the pickup was scheduled for

11:30 we're gonna wear ourselves thin

but we're gonna cover them all we're

gonna cover them all that's right Katie

me you of Cassidy's Saajan Fernandes and

whoever we could grab

raise your executive lieutenant okay

Cassidy hang tough

no dice

still be going down hours let me call

Gina back

Carla's supposed to meet the restaurant

any minute we'll follow him from there

you could lead us to where the stash

I can't wait the junk could be on the

streets already I've waited too long

all right let's try out the unit again

he's got to show up unit one to Unit

three any activity at the 6-3 freight

yard back at every tenant unit one two

uniform anything happening at the South

freight yard at all

Oh lieutenant

you had one two units safe - tell me

something Fernandez looks like a bum tip

here lieutenant but wait a minute

just a fishing leg and pulling in they

come and go at night here what color and

make Burgundy

that could be the station wagon the bus

boy start to take off the night Chuck

Johnson was killed at Alma and I saw a

burgundy station wagon take Carlos away

after he hit 22 the air of a dance

the crowd

that's the one baby that's the one

thank you thank you

you okay kid yeah fine you called it the

Palermo connection

yeah we just unplugged it we sure did
