Some weird [bleep] happens here.

...on a series of islands

haunted by centuries of shipwrecks

and mysterious disappearances...

[Darrin] People have been here.

Why did they leave this place?

It is friggin' nuts.

...all four teams were hit by a powerful tropical storm.

After significant damage to their coastal camp...

-I just fell. -[Adam] We are sitting ducks.

-[Mandy] Right. -We gotta go.

...Adam and Mandy took advantage of

a break in the weather...

[Adam] We're setting off into the unknown.

...and pushed inland to find a safer camp...

If we stay here, we're done.

So, at least we stand a chance by moving in.

[Mandy speaking]

...only to be caught in a second storm.

This is torrential. We've gotta -- we've got to go.

No wonder people don't bloody survive here.

[Mandy] It's really sharp, so be careful.

[Adam] We're still yet to find an ideal location.

We just need shelter.

We need to get out of this rain.

We'll just keep pushing just a little bit more.

But we need to get out of the rain, that's for sure.

Just start putting up a little waterproof structure here

just to get us out of the rain.

and the potential for hypothermia, it's there.

That's enough to take us out of this challenge.

[Mandy speaking]

[Adam] We've collected enough banana leaves.

-At least we'll be waterproof. -OK.

Fingers crossed.

Us staying where we were, especially with the typhoon

rolling in, it could have been so much worse.

So the fact that we are here, it is better.

This is officially going to be a rest station for us.

So, I have to start thinking positively and how we're

gonna make it work. -It'll do for now.

There's a slight break in the rain right now.

All right, I'll see if I can find anything dry.

We're definitely not out of the woods yet because we're

still both cold and now the bugs are starting to

shred us apart.

I know it's soaked right now, but maybe if we take it out

see if we can get some fibers. -Yeah.

I've just found some dry wood on the inside.

I've ever made in my life.

[Shawn] I've been dealing with external pain all over.

The waves have battered this gill net.

It's almost like a rope, not a net.

[Ally] We've been battered by the storms here for days

and we're back to zero.

And to be quite honest...

perpetually throughout this survival situation.

My fish trap washed up to the shore.

And because of this storm...

the last three days,

we all burned quite some calories.

Right now I don't know if it's that I'm hungry...

is it lack of sleep?

I don't want to make a big deal of it...

but I'm feeling off.

Time for adventure.

The raft is heavy as hell.

And it had a little land anchor, a nice big boulder.

It was a storm, and the waves

couldn't even bring this in.

It's the Scottish Titanic, baby.

Dani's search through the mangroves...

...revealed the promise of new resources...

[Dani] Wow. Why are these hanging

on every single tree?

...and strange mysteries...

[Dani] This is so creepy.

I don't want to disturb the spirits.

...but a team raft project

brought more tension with Jarrell.

What if you have a beam, like, to put your foot like that

so it's, like, safe out of the water?

I've been swimming in that water every day.

I don't know where the concern of feet in the water just

came from so much.

Our feet need a bench?

Like, what, do we want to add a bed next?

-[Jarrell] I think we're ready. -[Dani] You want to get going?

-Yeah. -Heck yeah, I'll grab our sticks.

Raft day. Got to find some food.

So this raft, it don't got to get us all the way across

the ocean, but it does got to get us to new land

so we can find some new [bleep].

[Jamie] Ready? Three, two, one.

And that's all that matters.

[Dani] We're all out of the water, right?

[Dani] We'll just have to be aware of jellyfish and sea kraits.

[Jarrell] Yep, the venomous Lost Coast.

[Jamie] Whoo! Here we go, man!

By land, the abandoned camp lies one mile away through

thick mangrove swamps.

By taking the raft a quarter mile down the coast,

they hope to access it

more easily by walking upriver

from a small beachhead.

Push to your -- push to your left.

Heading out to what we believe is deep water.

Oh, on a rock.

Like, we need to go deeper, there's rocks here.

[Jamie] Turns out there's no deep water at all, so we're just

having to, like, push with the sticks.

Make sure there's no jellyfish.

When you grow up in the city,

you're not scared of a jellyfish.

I'm more scared of a Glock.

[Dani] I never want anyone to feel a box jellyfish sting,

even my worst enemy.

I got stung

by a jellyfish!

I am in so much pain, I can't even describe.

And I think if Jarrell recognized the severity of it,

he would be more considerate.

I think my stick is too [bleep] long.

We're not about to go nowhere in this.

[Dani] It is what it is.

[Jarrell] The raft situation is tough.

We're trying to push it in the shallows,

and it's just too heavy.

We're too heavy, and we're not going anywhere.

I will put my feet in the water and I'll push this raft to

wherever we need to get to.

[Ally] Last night was the most intense storm yet.

The traps are gone...

but I'd rather be hungry than shivering and freezing.

So I'm bringing some palm fronds to make sure

our shelter is waterproof.

This could be a potential shipwreck.

This could be a potential other camp.

Could be a way to rescue.

I've been sitting on this beach the whole time,

Maybe they just barely got fire.

We also could have just been so focused on our tasks,

maybe we didn't even recognize it.

[Shawn] Well, that's got me curious.

I'm thinking this is great. We're not alone.

You know, looking at the map,

there was, like, a marker

on the island across from us, half cut off.

[both] That could be it.

It is absolutely insane to think that we may find

other survivalists, find other pieces of the map,

and get the [bleep] home.

That makes me really want to hustle to get off this island

to go check it out. I don't want them to leave.

[Shawn] We might need to jump on this.

I'd like to get a raft done in the next couple days.

We're going to have to build one hell of a raft to cross

this ocean though, man.

[Shawn] It's going to be a bitch to get out there.

[Patrick] Even on a day like this, we'd never make it there.

We're going to have to time it right.

In case we do have a calm day, we can get out there.

To get fire last night, that was crazy.

I mean, it was rough with the fire.

I can't imagine without. Holy [bleep].

That was pretty wild. But we did it.

-But we're OK. -...it's what we had to do, yeah.

We're OK, and we're here, and we're figuring it out.

Honestly, I think we're running on, on fumes

at the moment. So, while I've got a break

in the weather, I might explore a little.

This location right now in the jungle, it's more of

a rest stop than a permanent location.

You know, Mandy and I are completely tapped out.

We're going to try to make this place work, try to collect

whatever resources we can, top up the fuel tank

a little bit before we keep on moving.

So that's a little bit old, that's not completely fresh,

but that is a pig track or a boar track.

And that's what I'm looking for.

You can see where the grass

and the plants being disturbed, passing through...

like a small tunnel, almost.

These are little game highways or pig highways where

the animals like to cross through.

I think this might be the spot to set a snare.

Back home in Australia, I love catching pigs.

I'm pretty good at it. I'm gonna set up a trap...

put the spring in, should be pretty secure, I hope.

I'll put this down.

I'll attach a locking mechanism to a stick.

Adam's spring snare uses a flexible pole bent

under tension, tied to a ground-level trigger set on

a fixed noose loop set in the boar's path.

When the boar steps on the trigger plate, it springs

the trap and the noose cinches tight around the leg.

[Adam] And placing these extra broken sticks on top.

So, when the pig stands on the mechanism, it has

more surface area for it to trigger the trap.

All right, the snare is set.

And when I come back,

that's when things get interesting.

[Malu] The winds were so furious and mad at us last night.

[Darrin] But at least we built an awesome freaking shelter.

Yep.

Malu, Ana Lis, and Darrin have built

a waterproof raised-platform shelter...

[Malu] It's raining down, and I'd just rather be secure

than sorry later.

...and a 300-foot aqueduct system.

[Darrin] We just got to engineer this one piece at a time.

[Ana Lis] Running water all day long.

But they have yet to secure

a significant source of protein.

[Darrin] You can live off coconuts for a long time,

but your body will eventually deplete.

[Ana Lis] I'm hungry.

I need meat.

[Darrin] You want to stand on that end for me?

-Hold it down? -[Darrin] Yeah.

[Darrin] We haven't really had more than a couple ounces of protein

combined and energy levels are waning.

All the fish close to the shore are small

and they disappear into the seaweed

growing off the dead coral.

I want to get out in the deep water

where the actual fish are.

So, I'm thinking about building a little boat, starting to

trim up pieces and gather my materials right now.

Darrin's plan is to build a fishing vessel from

six bamboo poles lashed together

to form a narrow deck.

Three life rings will be secured underneath to provide

additional flotation, while side outriggers will help

stabilize the craft in open water.

[Darrin] I brought a climbing rope as my survival item on this.

Unfortunately, this is a dynamic climbing rope,

so it stretches way too much if you don't pull the core out.

I'll only be using the sheath to lash this together.

I was a rock climber for many, many years of my life,

and I trust my life to those ropes on the rocks.

And now I'm trusting my life to that rope on the water.

-[sighs] -You OK?

[Ana Lis] Ah, I'm frustrated.

My stomach needs meat.

[Malu] I think you should go hunting today.

[Ana Lis] Mm...

[Malu] You just have to keep going.

the area that I stumbled upon.

because I was totally spooked.

It felt, like, haunted.

but I'm excited. New lands.

So, that's a great sign right there.

[Dani] Oh, I see a bunch of swamp taro.

I'm scouting this area, I immediately see swamp taro.

I have learned about this. I've read about it,

and we can eat that.

Then when you dig into it, you can find an edible root.

Should go for a big one and get some of that root, man.

Known as the potato of the tropics, swamp taro is

rich in carbs and starches.

It is poisonous raw, but sweet and nutty

when cooked.

[Jamie] Yeah, definitely. You could grab that side.

and we haven't ate really anything in two weeks.

We're gonna reap the spoils, and it's gonna keep us going.

We gotta get rescued, and you definitely need

some strength for that.

pretty much anything for bait to catch a fish.

The hike in was brutal.

The hike out is going to be brutal as well.

So, it's really important that

we try to get some food very soon.

I'm really grateful that we found the jar.

Being shipwrecked, you find these items

and you look at them and you're like,

"How can I use this?"

A little bait container.

We don't want to waste calories actively fishing.

So, I am going to be setting passive lines all through

this creek. There are fish.

There's little fish. There's maybe some bigger fish.

I haven't seen them, but I'm assuming there are

if there's little fish.

and she is kind of an arts and crafts,

imaginary dragon type of girl.

Next time, I'll just have my own little plate that I can

just stick my hands in.

I don't do the arts and crafts cups and chopsticks and stuff.

I eat with my hands, drink out the pot like a man.

I came out here to survive.

I didn't come out here for teas and crumpets.

Do I need a straw to drink out of this?

Or have we all been drinking out of this, putting our lips

on it and spit and saliva in this pot?

Maybe I'm, like, a bit of a germaphobe.

I just don't like dirty hands in, like, food that

we're sharing. -I understand.

It's just even though you made utensils, you're still eating

with, like, a dirty-ass piece of bamboo.

I actually, like, clean it every night

and I use guava leaves and seaweed.

Yeah, I guess that's very antibacterial.

I've been cleaning my pits with seaweed

and they still stink.

I don't care if my hands are dirty.

I'm searching for stingray.

Hunting in the Philippines is super different than

in Argentina, especially because in Argentina

I know where to go.

Here, I'm improvising.

I need just one, just a big one.

It's a sea snake.

I see a black-banded sea krait.

I know they are super venomous,

but it's meat, it's edible.

I try to hunt it.

So right now, I am chiseling little holes in the bamboo

so that I can slide this piece of hardwood

through all the holes.

That's going to hold them all into place super firm.

Then we can come in with minimal cordage and lash

every single one of these.

That's going to make this super bomb-proof.

By adding an internal support beam at each end of the raft,

Patrick's design will provide the strength and stability to

support the sunshade and better withstand the rough waters

of the open ocean.
