if you want to place an ornament or a
sculpture on a curved surface the method
is quite easy see in the last video we
did use the bend modifier to fix the
array of this classic element on the
curved corner but here with this shape
we can go with deforming and shrink
wrapping so select the object make sure
the origin in it is set to Geometry hit
shift s and move the cursor to selected
then we can add a lattice object for the
deformation part the lattice needs to be
flat so make the V value on one then
scale it around the mesh to cover it
from all sides and increase the
resolution in it beside the V to
something enough depending on the shape
you have we can go with 50 for the U and
15 for the W in the resolution and it
should be enough now to connect the
ornament to the lattice grid we made we
need a lattice modifier added to the
ornament then we can select the lattice
grid inside it this way you link it
together so editing the grid will affect
the shape once you're done select both
by holding shift and parent them with
contrl P this way moving the grid will
move the
shape what left is selecting the lattice
grid place it near the model you want
the ornament to be placed on then add to
it a shrink wrap modifier and choose the
model as a
Target you can see that it project the
lattice grid GD on the model thus the
ornament will be the same since they are
linked with the lattice modifier but the
top and bottom is deformed too since
it's too big for the area so either fix
the scale or split the shrink wrap area
from the model by selecting it in the
model and hitting P to separate then
choose the new sub model as a Target and
that's it remember to like and sub if
you're still here and see you next time
stay Sharp
goodbye
