Episode 14

VIP has arrived. Please wait for a minute.

What the heck!

- Basement parking lot. - Excuse me?

Basement parking lot! Right away!

- VIP will go to the basement parking lot. - Why did you say that?

Hurry, hurry!

Yes, Sir.

[VIP PARKING]

- Good morning, Sir! - Good morning, Sir!

I'm Kim Joo Young, Interim Director of the hospital.

I see. Hello, Director.

I've heard a lot about you. I wanted to meet with you.

I see.

Why don't you come to my office?

- Why would I... - Go there for now...

Why don't we have tea and share deep conversations...

Why a deep conversation with me...

Let's go! Here...

Director...

Nurse Kang! Nurse Kang!

That money bug came to work this morning.

The new Director and all the chiefs went out and waited for him.

He passed by all of them and went to the basement parking lot!

How could someone possibly do that?

Even as the husband of the Chairwoman

how could he ignore all the chiefs who were his teachers? How?

No manners at all!

- Would you have gotten out there? - Of course!

I'd get out there.

And tell them that I thought they were working hard.

To cheer them up.

I'd be so happy!

This... bitch.

Director, please don't do this. I'll visit later...

Sir, if you do this, we'll be in an awkward position. So please...

I'll serve you tea later separately.

Sir?

Sir!

Then, later.

What a ruckus.

Are you uncomfortable with his approach?

Excuse me?

I mean, the Director. Should I take care of it?

Wha... What?

- Welcome, Sir! - Welcome, Sir!

This is driving me nuts!

Sir! Sir!

Sir! Sir, Sir, Sir!

Are you uncomfortable with any of them?

- If I am? - I'll take care of it.

Take care of what!

Seriously...

Keep your distance.

It's not possible according to the regulations.

Hello!

- Did you eat? - I did.

What's with your face?

Chief, hello.

Oh, yes, Dr. Kim Tae Hyun.

I'm sorry about last time. I had a lot going on, and I was rude.

Not at all, Sir!

I heard about it.

You must've been very worried

but I wasn't able to read what was going on.

So I made a big mistake. Please forgive me.

Chief!

What are you doing?

What are you doing?

Did you have fun with your wife?

Just a little.

Things turned out great for you. I'm so happy for you!

Thank you. It's all thanks to you.

Why thank me?

Anyway, is So Hyun doing all right?

Yes, I spoke to her this morning. She sounded healthy.

I guess the treatment is already helping.

That's great. You're lucky.

- I am lucky, but I am also worried. - Why?

The way the bosses treat me...

I'm already known as someone who likes money and power.

Ever since I married her, I feel like I've made her into a joke.

Don't worry about how others look at you.

If you didn't do anything wrong, that's enough!

Anyway, you need to finish your residency and become a specialist.

If you don't want to live off of your wife for the rest of your life!

Of course.

So don't worry about others.

But...

how can I not worry about others when he is tagging along behind me?

Dr. Kim!

Goodness. What are you doing?

Seriously. Don't do that.

Wow... the new groom is here.

Please! Lower your voice.

What's wrong? I'm calling you the new groom because you are.

How was it?

How was what?

You know. Look at the dark circles!

You know, this is sexual harassment.

I'm asking if you two snored while you were sleeping!

Since you must've been so tired!

I'm a bigwig now.

You know what happens if you make fun of me, right?

Well, it can't be worse than getting fired?

I should get fired soon and marry someone nice.

And live on money earned by my husband!

I feel really comfortable around you, Nuna (OLDER SISTER). It's great.

Nuna?

How fortunate am I to have a new younger brother who came back as a rich man?

Anyway, how was your first night together?

You're really persistent!

What first night? We didn't even have a wedding.

You registered your marriage.

As a part of strategy?

What do you mean?

Nowadays, expectant couples furnish their homes

before they hold a wedding.

What?

You proposed to her, right?

Proposed to her?

Look at you...

Do I have to do things like that?

You only studied to become a doctor. Do you know about anything else?

You're really frustrating.

You should at least put a copper ring on her finger...

and create a romantic mood...

That's when she'll say yes! If you just rush, she won't!

What are you saying?

- You're not romantic at all. - You're driving me crazy.

- Hello, Doctor. - Oh my. Hello, Sir.

Doctor, if you do this...

If I do this, do I...

Please don't do this!

Have a seat. Did you have an MRI?

This could've been really bad. Really bad!

Dr. Kim Tae Hyun is really good!

If you came just a little later, you could've gone blind.

- Or died. - Pardon?

- Why would go that far? - No, I mean it!

Luckily, it's benign. And its location and size...

It'll be fine after surgery. Don't worry.

Thank you, Doctor.

You should thank Dr. Kim Tae Hyun.

It's more important to find it than to perform surgery.

Doctor, why are you complimenting me so much?

You're now a bigwig. I'm trying to benefit from you.

Anyway, that's great news.

- You don't need to worry. - Thank you.

That must've been tough for you.

I'll tell you when the surgery is scheduled. You can leave now.

Yes. Thank you.

Wait!

Excuse me, Yeo Jin...

There are so many.

This is pretty.

Yeo Jin would like this, right?

Oh, you're the presidents who used to line up

in front of my husband and President Go.

Dad.

You're here?

Why are you here, Dad?

The wife of the ex-Chairman is here. Should I send her in?

Send her in.

Move.

Hey, Han Yeo Jin. How can you do this to me?

How can you let my dad stand outside?

It's too loud.

Make her leave.

Let's go.

- Chae Young. - Come outside!

Let's go and die if she gets rid of us!

Let's go.

Chae Young! Why are you acting like this?

Don't do this.

Who is it?

Tae Hyun, I'm glad you came.

Tae Hyun, please save me.

Chief!

Tae Hyun...

He is meeting with Chief Lee now.

What should I do about Chief Lee?

Why would you ask me something like that?

I'm sorry. I'll take care of it on my own.

Don't worry. Han Do Joon is locked up and President Go is dead.

There is no one who would harm you.

What? President Go?

What? How?

I heard he committed suicide... at the police station.

Suicide?

President Go?

No! He wouldn't commit suicide.

It's Yeo Jin! Yeo Jin made him commit suicide!

Chief, please calm down.

Tae Hyun, I only did what they told me to do.

Tae Hyun...

Please put in a good word for me with Miss Young Ae.

I didn't want anything to happen to Miss Young Ae.

I only did what I was told to do...

Calm down, Chief!

She's not that kind of person. Don't worry.

Why are you acting this way?

You're planning to put me at ease and then kill me, right?

- That's your plan! - Chief! I'm Kim Tae Hyun.

If I was going to kill you, why did I operate on you?

That's right...

But... when I think about what I did to Yeo Jin...

Yeo Jin will definitely kill me.

I know.

Those eyes...

Murderer.

Chief...

Everything you did was because Han Do Joon ordered you!

So when you are investigated later, just tell the truth.

And since Yeo Jin is not dead

you won't get tried for murder...

What are you talking about?

Investigated? Tried?

Han Do Joon will be out soon.

Don't you see?

They never leave justice to the legal system.

A call from the Prosecutor General.

This is Han Yeo Jin.

Congratulations on becoming the Chairwoman!

Well... I think it's a bit early for that.

We'll have to see the results from the general meeting.

You were helped by fate using Kim Young Mi's life.

Aren't you being a cry baby?

I hear 20 percent of total employee ownership has turned around.

Really?

You know things about my company that even I don't know.

Thank you for taking an interest.

Not at all.

Anyway, there is another point of interest in our building.

What should we do?

Should I ask him to stay a little longer

or should I just let him go?

I'm not sure.

If you keep him there, won't you spend more on his beef soup from your pocket?

Right?

But somehow I feel uneasy. As if I'm letting a kid play by the pool.

The friend he was waiting for left.

But there are friends who are waiting for him outside.

That's good... that there are people who will greet him.

You don't have much time left in your term, right?

When you start your own firm, I'll send a flower pot to your new office.

Sure, I'll hope for a big one if possible.

I shouldn't have gone to the OR for Yeo Jin to begin with.

I should have... just gone to your mom.

What?

What... did you just say?

What did you just say!

Tae Hyun...

What the heck was that?

Excuse me.

That was great!

- Here, unlock this. - Yes.

Are you okay?

The day Yeo Jin was brought in to the hospital...

was also the day your mom was brought in.

Everyone wanted to be seen in the OR with Yeo Jin.

Okay, right now.

- Yoo Chang Seok, go in now. - Yes!

Once Yoo Chang Seok is in, Chief Jin, get out.

Be on standby.

At the time, Professor Kang was told to go to your mom.

But Professor Kang pushed it over to me, his junior.

Hey, go to OR Three.

Are you disobeying me?

Chief asked you to go.

This bastard...

I made it clear to you. Go!

While we passed the buck back and forth...

Hey, what's he doing? Hey!

Lee Ho Joon, you're there, right? Get in there now!

Yes!

I was ordered into Yeo Jin's OR.

Arrest.

I'm sorry.

- Mom... - Tae Hyun.

Mom! Mom!

And I heard later that your mom had passed away.

Tae Hyun...

I was planning to go.

But I was ordered into Yeo Jin's OR...

I found out recently... that she was your mom.

Yes, I deserve to die.

But... But, Tae Hyun...

Please save me. Tae Hyun...

Tae Hyun...

I'm going crazy here.

According to the officers, they were in the same gang.

It was over in seconds.

It's like a movie!

What the heck?

The accomplice to murder committed suicide.

And the murderer was rescued by his gang?

What the heck is this?

- Get the footage from these cameras. - Yes.

I checked on them too...

The SUV in question was found three kilometers from here.

Punks...

And they switched vehicles?

- This should be enough. - I'll be asking for help now and then.

We should thank you.

Our regular employer is gone, and we get a visit from a new client.

Boss, I'm sorry.

Welcome back, Sir.

Yes.

They're here to grovel.

They were with the ex-Chairman and President Go.

Please, go inside.

Chairwoman, it's true! Please believe me!

I really didn't know President Go had such a plan!

I only thought of rescuing you from Han Do Joon

and serving you as Chairwoman! It's true! Please believe me!

Believe you?

But you were the first one to light incense at my funeral with a gray tie on?

Pres... President Go told me to! It's true!

President Go told you to do it?

I guess... a dead man has no words.

Did I stop him from talking too soon?

Chairwoman!

President Han, you talk too much.

Pardon?

You should put your affairs in order.

Please save me, Chairwoman!

I was wrong!

Please save you?

I prayed to be put to death.

I'll give you one last chance.

Bring me the ledgers from my father's time all the way through President Go.

By tomorrow.

I'll make a decision after I look at it.

I understand! Thank you!

Thank you, Chairwoman! Thank you!

Thank you!

I want to walk for a bit.

[SPECIAL PRESS CONFERENCE]

Are you sure you sent out the press release?

Yes.

"The ugly truth about Hanshin Group"?

Did you come up with that title?

It's so childish.

What are you doing here? No one's coming.

Get him out of here.

- Please leave now... - No.

Ms. Lee Chae Young should leave the Hanshin Group hotel.

What?

Ms. Lee Chae Young?

Then how should I address you?

Mr. Han Do Joon's wife?

I thought you were pretending to be an idiot.

I didn't know you were a real idiot.

Unless you want to see your family go bankrupt

and your father commit suicide like your ex-boyfriend

get out of here right now.

If there is no Han Do Joon, you don't exist either.

You're lavender.

What's your name?

My name is Lee Sang Chul.

Sang Chul...

Do you know what kind of flowers were here before?

I'm not sure.

There was a lavender garden.

What happened to it?

The ex-Chairman hated it, so we got rid of it.

I see.

Sang Chul, it looks like a neighbor's dog got in again.

Again?

I'll take care of it.

I'm going to catch you! Get over here! Why is he so fast?

Get out! Get out!

Why does he run around like he's mad whenever I mention a dog?

Maybe he doesn't like dogs.

No, maybe he likes dogs too much.

He wants to play with dogs even if he has to pretend to kick them out.

That's why he left you behind and went after a dog.

You're right.

You must've seen Yeo Jin as a child.

Yes.

What was she like as a kid?

She was a scary kid.

Once, she was hit in the eye when she playing tennis.

Her brother was scolded badly by the late Chairman because of it.

For not being able to protect his sister.

Then the next day...

The late Chairman was a tennis fan.

He had the racket made abroad

for Miss Young Ae's grip and weight. It was a very rare racket.

And she never played tennis again even though she had enjoyed it so much before.

To punish her dad for scolding her brother because she loved him more.

That's cute.

What? Isn't it cute?

She's still very cute.

Anyway, all of us were afraid of little Yeo Jin.

She was very clear on good and bad.

Besides, for a child to punish an adult, especially the late Chairman...

No one could even imagine it.

She must've been lonely.

I mean, Yeo Jin.

From the huge weight of the family wealth...

she had to live among the adults who were afraid of a kid's tantrums.

Even after seeing the Chairwoman's actions yesterday and today...

aren't you afraid of her?

I'm not afraid of her.

I feel bad for her.

You must love her a lot.

Yes.

I'm so hungry.

I'm glad you're here. Have a seat.

No, that's my seat.

Sit here.

Isn't that the seat for the Chairwoman?

No, it's the seat for the head of the household.

- Head of the household? - Yes.

You're the head of our household.

A woman from the Joseon period!

What?

Hurry up and sit down.

It's really awkward.

And this is the seat for Dad.

When the kids are born later

wouldn't it be good for them to see their dad sitting here?

What? You don't like kids?

I do.

I'm happy.

Try this, too.

Sweet potato stems. You like them, right?

How did you know?

I spoke to So Hyun in the States.

- So Hyun? - Yes.

Thanks.

That's nothing.

You'll have many surprises in the future.

Oh, and So Hyun is so much better.

The President of our New York branch said

that the doctors there also find it very encouraging.

If everything goes well, they could schedule her surgery within a month.

Are you listening?

I have a favor to ask.

What is it? Ask me anything.

Stop your revenge.

Don't touch... Chief Lee.

- Why would I touch Chief Lee? - I know everything.

I know you're planning to kill Chief Lee.

- It's for us. - It's not.

It's not for us.

Don't do it.

I don't know about anyone else...

but Chief Lee deserves to die.

As a so-called doctor

he locked someone perfectly sane in darkness for three years.

And at the end, he cut the carotid artery of a woman who couldn't fight back.

And I should forgive him?

I know. I understand how you feel.

Still, this is not right.

What you're trying to do is... not justice.

It's just murder.

Then is it justice when Chief Lee doesn't get punished?

You know I didn't mean it that way.

Why? Why would you punish him?

Leave it to the legal system?

Breach of the Medical Act? Or, attempted murder?

It happened in secret with no security cameras.

Am I supposed to argue about if I tried to commit suicide or not in an open court?

And expose the ugly truth about Hanshin Group?

If there is no revenge...

there is no justice either.

I'm the queen of crocodiles.

If I show any weakness at all to them...

they'll take me down immediately.

That's why they need to feel fear.

If they dare to do such a thing to me...

I have to show them what will happen to them.

If I don't...

someone else who is capable of such a thing will show up one day.

And... you share the same fate as me now.

Because you're my heir.

So, Tae Hyun... listen to me.

If I don't do this...

you'll also be in danger.

Leave the business to me.

Try this too. I've liked this since I was little.

No.

You can change it.

You are capable of it now.

Even if you forgive them...

people can't take you lightly.

Your revenge could lead to another revenge.

So... forgive others.

Please.

Tae Hyun.

You're a really good person.

That's why I like you.

But you will never understand me.

Because you weren't locked in darkness for three years.

No matter how much I tried

I couldn't move a finger or an eyelid.

You were never locked in that body.

You've never prayed... to be allowed to die.

I am going to punish everyone who locked me up in that prison.

I'm only disappointed that I wasn't able

to kill the Director and Nurse Hwang myself.

What's going on?

We're moving Chief Lee to a regular hospital room.

Why would security make that decision?

There was an order. You should check.

Who are you? Help me! Help me!

- We didn't get any notice! - Help me! Help me!

Wait!

Psychiatric?

People are taking away Chief Lee.

You will punish... everyone who locked you up?

Who are the people who locked you up?

What?

Your father is the one who put you to sleep there.

And your brother is the one who didn't wake you up.

Not Chief Lee.

He was... only a pathetic prison guard and an executioner

who sold his soul for money your people threw at him.

You're taking your anger out on a puppet.

I was... also a prison guard that you bought off.

Yes...

Chief Lee did a horrible thing to you.

It's true that he's your enemy.

Still, you shouldn't kill Chief Lee.

If you think about what your father and your brother did to him...

you can't kill him.

I can... kill him.

I will never forgive that man.

Then what about me?

How am I supposed to forgive your people?

I've never done anything to you that needs your forgiveness.

Would that be really true?

Please stop your revenge.

It's my last request.

Stop for now.

Wait.

Chief Lee, you are very lucky today.

Take him back.

- What's going on? - You can go home now.

Now? At this hour?

Isn't it better when reporters are not around?

That's true...

What about President Go? Is he here now?

No.

What? Did things already get sorted out at the police station?

Yes. Things went well.

Let's do it then.

I said, you don't need to go overboard.

It doesn't matter if I leave from the front.

Anyway, tell the Prosecutor General that I got a good rest here.

Yes, well...

[EVIDENCE]

Take care.

Prosecutor, I'll see you later...

Manners...

Where is everyone?

[CHIEF OF STAFF]

Right...

This bastard betrayed me.

Wait and see.

[PRESIDENT GO SUNG HOON HANSHIN CONSTRUCTION]

The call cannot be connected...

What the heck is he doing...

President Go, what the heck are you doing? It's embarrassing...

- Who is this? - Who?

Secretary?

This is Han Do Joon. Let me talk to President Go.

- This is President Go's son. - Son?

I work with your father. Is your father available?

My father passed away.

What? What are you saying?

Tell me again.

[CHIEF OF STAFF]

The call cannot be connected...

[PRESIDENT HAN TAE SEOP HANSHIN CHEMISTRY]

The call cannot be connected...

[LEE CHAE YOUNG]

What's gotten into you?

I heard you got out today?

Of course, I did.

Those minions couldn't keep me in there.

By the way, how did you know?

I'm still your family... so I got a call.

You did?

Family...

Did anyone come to pick you up?

Yes, of course.

I'm on my way to have a drink with the presidents who came for me.

- Are you taking a cab? - Yes.

What?

Do you even carry a wallet?

So, are you happy now?

Yes.

I'm very happy.

I'm sorry, Chae Young.

Do you even know how to be sorry?

Yes.

Did you eat?

Yes.

So... should we go somewhere and have a drink?

Sounds good.

Wait there. I'll come over.

- No, I'll cross the street. - No.

I'll come to you this time.

Okay.

Thank you.

Oh my. Are you okay?

How can you drive like that?

Oh, I'm sorry.

Are you hurt?

- I don't think it's too bad. - Really?

It's no good if you're okay.

Just don't die.

Honey!

Honey! Honey!

Honey! Honey!

Honey! Honey!

Where are you taking him?

Where are you taking him? Where?

Mister, where...

Where are you taking him?

No...
