With the shop quiet, Johnny and Bev take
the opportunity to go on another buying

trip to find more stock.

Today they're heading 30 miles north to
Runcorn to preview an auction.

So, toy auction.

As one of the largest auction houses in
Cheshire, The centre holds a vintage toy

sale every week, showcasing between 500
to 700 lots of collectible items.

Running the auction centre, a father and
daughter duo, Michael and Vanessa.

It's a family-run business.

It is a family-run business and we've
now developed it to being one of the

largest in the country.

An auction is a good place to go if you
want to buy items to make a profit.

We get a lot of clients that actually
buy from us and then they go straight

home, put it on eBay and make a profit.
You can't really go wrong.

The advice I'd give Johnny is buy
everything unusual, everything quirky or

something you're never going to see
again.

If you can get a one-off, that would be
absolutely brilliant.

I'm not going to buy for the sake of
buying.

I can say that and walk in and go, oh my

gathered from vendors across the

as little as £30 and up to a whopping
£8,000.

Company.

They had 250 ex-miners employed to build
these models. This is the Austin

J40 based on the A40. J stands for
junior.

So the child's got one and Daddy's got

I mean, it's got to fetch 2,000 to
3,000, sometimes a little bit more if

there's somebody ultra keen out there.

After dropping Johnny off, Bev heads
back to Dagfield to take charge of the

shop.

I'm excited to be in the shop on my own.
I don't think he wanted to leave me

like, you know, Johnny.

But he had to go shopping. I think Chris
has talked to Johnny on a number of

occasions before the shop about going to
a fern. I think Johnny's always found it

a bit, maybe overwhelming.

Chris and Johnny are heading 100 miles
east to Newark, one of the largest

antique fairs in the UK, which opens
early the next morning.

This could be a very dangerous thing
because if you come here and you get the

bug and then you stop nine grand on
stuff I'm not sure of.

You'll definitely get the bug.

I think Chris has said to him the fairs
are much better than just going to the

auctions and the other antique shops as
well.

The only thing is, I think you've got to
be there about six o'clock in the

morning.

Johnny'd have to stay up from the night
before to be there before six o'clock in

the morning, I think.

It's now all up to Johnny to get up in
time for his first ever antique fair.

I've had to lie to Johnny this morning
to get him up.

So he thinks it starts at 6 when in fact
we could probably only get in at 7.

But at least that way he's going to be
up. I've been trying to get him to come

to a fair for ages.

It's very important to get there early.

A lot of the stock will go from dealer
to dealer to dealer. So the later you

go, the more hands it'll have been
through and the price will have gone up.

If Johnny's going to make it in the
business, he's going to have to come to

a lot of these.

place

eight times a year and is held on the
runway at what used to be RAF Winthorpe.

See, I should have used that extra hour
that somebody lied to me about to go a

cash point.

It's crammed with hundreds of antique
stores offering everything from vintage

interiors to unique household items.

It attracts thousands of visitors and
has a reputation for being one of the

best trading places in England.

God, look how many vans and we were
there early.

Leading the charge are the professional
dealers who start trading their stock

before they've even set up their stands.
