At a military proving ground, a screaming anti-missile overtakes a speedy drone but is beaten to its target by the God of Thunder and diverted.

Ah, what a help, Thor is. We obtain vital flight data without having expensive missiles destroyed.

But Thor, I hope you realize this test is different. It might be more than even you should try. Are you sure your body can stand it?

Am I not the son of Odin? My body possesses the power of your mightiest machines. Let the preparations thus begin.

Personnel withdraw to armored bunkers and watch in awe as mighty Thor calmly awaits the explosion of a cobalt bomb.

Out of nowhere, an apparition appears from out of the strange machine of figure materializers and--

Star, you hold a C-bone. Indeed, I know. I tracked it to this century. No. That weapon must never fall into the wrong hands. My hammer will stop you. It simply vanished.

It's as though he escaped into another time. But we do not stand here empty-handed. Observe this scrap of metal broken off by my hammer.

What does it prove? Such a metal could come only from the future, but the grim mystery still remains.

What forebodes when the world of tomorrow steals from today? To the highest mountain peak, Thor hurtles and raises his voice to his immortal father, Odin.

The storm is his answer. But finally, the furies of heaven explode in a great crescendo and--

Your thoughts are troubled, my son. Fret not with the future of mortals. Come back to Asgard and the glories of ages without time.

But, Sire, because I failed to stop a theft, a fearsome bomb awaits in their future. Only the scrap of metal may be a clue to the time.

A clue? It is your passport. Thou need but attach the fragment to thy magic hammer.

It is done. And then? Spin thy hammer and thyself, faster than light, and be drawn through the fourth dimension of time to the moment of the fragment's origin.

Perhaps never to return.

Only another fragment belonging to the day of your departure can bring you back.

It must be something of value that could exist in no other time.

While high-level conferences ponder the implications of the mysterious theft, Thor returns to his earthly role as Dr. Don Blake, Odin's words still echoing through his thoughts.

Perhaps never to return. Never to see Jane again. And yet as Thor, perhaps Thor alone can forestall a disaster.

To bring you back, something of value that could exist in no other time.

His mind made up, Don Blake returns to the lonely peak as Thor. He spins his hammer mightily, whirling himself with it faster and faster until Thor's speed leaves the world as we know it behind.

Into the fourth dimension of time unfolding, the valiant immortal soars. Until finally, do my eyes reveal the truth? What indescribable, wondrous world is this?

He stares at the sights of the amazing city and hears the murmuring throngs below. It is the thirtieth century, a time when all weapons have been abolished. But now, a man named Zarko has returned from the past with a fearsome bomb and with this as his threat has proclaimed himself their ruler.

He is here, the one who tried to prevent my theft of the bomb.

Zarko watches the mighty immortal approach, allowing him to enter. Thor beholds the awesome splendors the tyrant has seized with his new power. Then...

So, you followed me to my time, then perish in it, fool!

Footsteps!

Giant robots!

No! Not my hammer! If I am without it for more than sixty seconds, I change back to the powerless dung Blake.

Trapped in the thirtieth century, even a god can feel despair. With the monster robots possessing his hammer, there may be no future awaiting the god of thunder.

With the thirtieth century mechanical giants closing in, Thor nears the fateful moment when he will change back to Don Blake, unless he can regain his enchanted hammer. He makes desperate use of his last seconds of strength.

Ah, my search is rewarded. A water pipe. A water reaching their electrical innards will bring young iron monsters to a standstill and return my hammer just in time.

Here's no ordinary foe. I best fly the bomb to my secret outpost. It will be safe from him there. Alt! The Thunder God commands!

I must stop him. No other living being could absorb such a blast and survive. To retaliate, Thor draws a mighty breath and exhales with hurricane force. The supernatural fury of the Gale is awesome to behold.

Sarco's ship is battered and swept like a wind-tossed leaf, causing the wracked sea bomb to break free. It plummets earthward on its mission of destruction until... I have it.

Now to transport it safely to the ground. Still out of control, Sarco's ship crash lands. But when the defeated Sarco emerges...

Who... Who am I? What am I doing here? It is to be hoped his memory will never return, for his deeds are best forgotten.

Free of the tyrant and the bomb threat, the grateful citizenry of the 30th century cheer mighty Thor on his way, with Jane's picture fastened in place. In moments, his legendary hammer is whirling the Thunder God back to the 20th century.

You have regained your bomb and would never believe my tale. Thus let us mention it no more. Now I must tend to my own heart's desire.

But across the Rainbow Bridge, Regal Odin refuses to approve his son's romance with the mortal Jane Foster. No, you Thor. From this instant hence, your powers are reduced until you give up all thought of love for an earthling.

Reduced, Sar, by half. Ah, I may never again have such a golden opportunity to destroy my enemy forever. Now possessing only half his strength, he'll be an easy victim for that earthful tyrant Sarco.

If I can once again find the mortal in the well of the centuries, this is the age. Earth's far distant future. And there is my cat's paw. Hear me, mortal. My magic herewith returns your memory.

I am Sarco. It was Thor who beat you. Thor who turned a brilliant scientist into a meanie old flunky. Yes, I have a debt to settle with Thor.

And so it is that the 20th century receives another visit from the future. It's a gigantic robot, accompanied by a man. I am the man from tomorrow. Bring me Thor.

Look, his machine, its eyes. A beam is coming from him. It's disintegrating my gun. With the city in panic, Don Blake remembers Thor's power has been cut in half, but does not hesitate.

I cannot shirk my responsibility. Thus the God of Thunder hurls himself to meet Sarco's 30th century destroyer. But just half of Thor's indescribable power is not enough.

Deprived of my full power, I am no match for him. You see, your champion cannot protect you, but I promise no further harm to this century if Thor returns with me to the far future as my obedient slave.

The son of Odin is no man's slave. But see, noble father, he's made his choice. Thor has given his word. And I must not intervene. If he is ever to learn the lesson I have invoked.

Then to save our own age, Thor departs. Is he doomed to be sacrificed forever in the nameless future?

At the enchanted well of the centuries, evil Loki gloats over Thor's imprisonment in the far future.

Conventional Sarco and his time machine have served me well.

With your mighty hammer, you will conquer this century for me.

I have given my oath to do your bidding, though my very soul cries out in protest.

In the automated land, for the first time in decades, things begin to go amiss, as if by evil magic or by a mighty hammer smashing at central control devil.

There are monumental traffic jams, panic in the streets. Then, Sarco.

With mighty Thor as my slave, the power breakdowns are his doing at my command. Now the world council shall hear my demands.

Where waitings, Sarco. What is it you want?

Power. I must know where the master machine is hidden. The supreme machine, which gives orders to the council itself.

They dare not refuse me now. I beg you, do not force me to use my power.

I give you exactly one hour for your decision. Come, Thor. Now, release it.

Thor and Sarco are caught by an octopus-like robot.

If only Imperial Odin had left me, my full powers.

What's this? The octi-robot is emitting a poisonous cloud. If I can just force this bit back and return the expanding vapors to the plastic sack, it can only stretch so far and...

Sarco, we are no match for Thor's inhuman strength. Here is the location of the master robot, which now controls the planet.

Ha! And this means the world is mine.

If you succeed in gaining control of the master robot.

And so with mighty Thor still at his side, Sarco rockets toward the lonely isle from which one master robot controls the workings of the automated world of the 30th century.

The master machine is hidden within. Smash it open, Thor.

On one condition. If this service will release me from my vow.

Yes, yes. When I stand before the machine.

So be it. Stand you back, Sarco.

You did it. Now.

Quiet. There is an ominous sound within.

A protection devised. These legs. There's room to crawl up.

I must overcome gravity. Multiply the thousand fold.

We have penetrated the machine's defense. Yes, here it is. Controlling every high level decision on Earth.

With this before me, I become master of all mankind.

I have given you mastery of the 30th century. And so evil one, I am free of my vow.

Yes. But now I command miracle machines.

Though I possess but half my powers, I can never rest till Sarco is conquered.

Nothing may stop my enchanted hammer. Not even the ice of a thousand glaciers.

Thunder God, halt. You dared not attack me. By pulling one lever, I can destroy half of this entire planet.

Sarco, be not a fool. Nay, it must not come to pass.

My son, my full powers are returned. Let not the future die.

Sarco, hear the words of Thor. Behold what your folly will bring.

Fires of torment, followed by a world where you will roll in loneliness and terror.

I had to let you know I was not your enemy. It was a very attractive looking note.
