endless wonder, the god of wonder, mighty Thor."

In Asgard, Home of the Gods, Loki, the evil arch-enemy of the thunder god Thor,

contrives a scheme to end their rivalry forever.

As Odin, father of the immortals, leads his warriors into battle, a pair of cruel,

unblinking eyes watch his departure with grim satisfaction.

"Now I can transform myself into a bee, and thereby pass the unsuspecting eyes of

Heimdall, guardian of the rainbow bridge, and thus return to Earth to carry out my

plan." In Dr. Blake's office, a gentleman awaits, holding a cane similar to the

doctor's own. "Doctor, it has passed your office hours, but he says it's most

important." "Yes, it's my leg. The pain is unbearable." "Oh, I dropped my cane."

"Allow me to get it for you, doctor. Here you are. I noticed that you, too, are

lame." "Yes, an old injury. Nurse, help him into the examining room." "That won't

be necessary. I feel better already." "Wait, what are you doing? A mist. A haze.

You're no ordinary patient. You're..." "Of course. Your old enemy, Loki. My slumber

mist has put your nurse to sleep, so we shall not be disturbed. I prefer to toy

with you." "You arrogant fool. Have you forgotten all I need do is stamp my

enchanted cane to turn into Thor? I've lost my power." "Who is the fool now, my

street, Don Blake sees his cane and knows that he still has a fighting chance.

"Loki, wherever you are, look to your defenses. Nothing can save you from the

vengeance of Thor." The Thunder God heads straight for Asgard. "Defend yourself,

evil one." "Thor, you retrieved your cane. I knew you would come despised half

brother." "Thor, be careful. He's mad." "You have made your most fatal blunder

choosing to battle me on my home grounds." "You shall pay for your treachery no

matter where." "Your enchanted hammer against my enchanted sword. But my cunning

brain gives me the advantage." "Not so, Loki." "Thor, look out." "No, let Loki beware.

His doom is sealed." "Bach, you must beat me to save the girl. And that you cannot."

"You have betrayed your pledge never to harm a mortal being." "Fool, she is only

bait to lure you to me. I have not harmed her." "None the less your cunning cannot

save you now." "I warned you of my sorcery. Your hammer cannot shatter my blade.

My sword will freeze the molecules in the air about him. And when 'tis done, Loki

shall be forever triumphant." "I'm encased in a wall of enchanted ice, but my hammer

has power in now to break the sorcery." "Yield thou heartless villain nor suffer

from my invincible mallet." "Never! You have not the heart for slaying." "Odin and

his victorious legions return, flushed with victory." "What is the meaning of

this? My two sons in combat without my consent?" "I wish to spare you unworthy

Thor's treachery, O noble liege. He has brought the forbidden female to Asgard

to make her an immortal. I tried to stop him, my lord." "He lies, O noble Odin."

"Silence! I know too well of Loki's cunning." "Behold, all wisest, how he flaunts

his love, how he dares defy thee." "Jane, the ordeal has been too much for her." "I

must believe my eyes. Thor has gone too far. He must submit to the trial of the

gods." "One boon, noble father. Forty-eight hours to return the girl to Earth." "Deny

him, sire. He seeks escape." "Silence! The thunder god's word is his bond." "I shall

return to Asgard to endure the trial of the gods." "So be it." "A royal reprieve

allows Thor to return his beloved to Earth. Knowing that she must not remember

the sights and sounds of Asgard, he grants her the gift of forgetfulness." "My

beloved dress. Now I must return to battle Loki." "The time has come, thunder god.

Thy trial awaits thee." "I hear and I obey." "To Asgard, then." "Whatever my fate,

I shall face it. Like a god." "Unfaltering, the courageous thunder god strides

forward to meet his destiny. A destiny so startling we dare not mention it yet."

"Let the trial begin. You Thor have been accused by Loki of deliberately lying.

What sayest thou?" "Come true, my father." "And you, Loki. Speak." "He lies." "I order you both

to do battle at Skornheim, deadly land beyond the pale of Asgard. You will be

unarmed, except for your own wits and your own natural strength. Mark you well.

Even an immortal may find death within forbidden Skornheim. But if you should

survive, the first to return to Asgard, that one shall be adjudged the victor.

That is all. Yield your hammer, thunder god. You may carry no weapons." "So be it,

noble father." "I cause you both to be transported to Skornheim."

"Skornheim. Deadly arena for a spectacular trial. Land where even gods fear to tread."

"What holds you there, Prince of Evil? We are allowed no weapons." "Fie upon thee,

doomed one. This is merely a simple bubble. An enchanted normstone which I can

steal beneath my tunic. Observe how it sparkles. By turning its prisms, I project

scenes of life upon the planet Earth." "Jane. Jane Foster. The girl I love."

"Of course. I planned for the executioner and the enchantress to pay a little

visit to the frail mortal female." "The vision fades. What has become of Jane Foster?

No harm must befall her." "Control yourself. Conserve your strength. You will need

it against my cunning." "By you." "Observe. The soil of Skornheim turns to quicksand

beneath your feet. Now while you flounder, Loki shall escape with ease. With my

enchanted normstone, I change the lava into a solid mass." "My beloved is in

grave peril. I must not fail." "Behind this impenetrable field of spiny plants.

My cunning shall save the day. The normstone has the power to transform my

body's molecules, enabling me to become an unsolid ghostly figure,

slipping through the deadly barbs." "His forbidden spells gain the advantage, but

by the stars of Asgard I shall not be stopped. My power is in my sinews, and my

helmet shall serve me. My mighty limbs and raging heart shall see me through."

"No longer will you mock the power of the thunder god."

"Thaw. You made it through the plants. But how?" "Call off the executioner and the

enchantress or..." "She is in no danger. It was just a trick, an illusion." "But others

know of Loki's duplicity." "Fire. By your leave. My message is urgent. It concerns

Thor and Loki." "Speak and be quick." "Loki has not kept his word. Not only

did he smuggle the normstone against your command, but he has unleashed the

executioner and the enchantress against the earth girl who has won Thor's heart.

She is in grave danger. Loki thus hoped to keep Thor's mind from his battle."

"Say no more. Let time and space dissolve into the infinite of my celestial

screams. I shall observe for myself. By the eternal rainbow bridge you mouth the

truth brave boulder. Loki has again committed his unspeakable treachery. To

horse boulder. Fly thee below. See that no harm comes to the female."

"I pray I am not too late. While back on earth." "Help! Please! Somebody help me!"

"No need for haste. You cannot escape." "Hold it, fellow." "Enchantress. Hold her

while I deal with the rabble. Be gone helpless mortals before you incur my wrath.

And now we are ready to execute Loki's orders." "For once in your immortal life I

hope you speak the truth. That no harm shall befall Jane Foster." "It's true. I

have been fairly beaten. She is safe. But are we?" "Just as victory is within Thor's

grasp he and Loki are confronted by Yag, the invincible slayer of all who dare

enter the forbidden realm of Skornheim. Yag, from whom none has ever escaped

alive."

"It's Yag. The awesome slayer of all who intrude in Skornheim." "Loki, propelled by

the power of his nornstone, easily flies out of the range of Yag's blasts. While

mighty Thor is entirely at his mercy, Loki continues to evade Yag's lethal weapon."

"Ha! I'm safe. But my accursed half-brother is still trapped behind me."

"Furious at losing Loki, Yag concentrates on Thor." "His attacks are endless. I must

strike back." "Then reaching with fingers of steel, Thor rips off a fragment of

petrified rock and earns it straight and true, felling the giant Yag even as David

felled Goliath many ages before." "I've won. Loki is now far ahead of me. Can I

overtake him?" "Many leagues away, Loki is not without his troubles." "I cannot long

endure this unbearable heat. I shall create a magical whirlwind." "But no

sooner does the Prince of Evil enter a new area when he finds he is being

surrounded by hungry carnivorous plants." "In the meantime, mighty Thor continues

his relentless pursuit." "I know not how Loki penetrated this

deadly plane of heat. But by the golden gates of Asgard, what Loki can do, Thor can

do." "Staggering, stumbling, crawling, Thor valiantly pushes onward until..." "Killer

plants. Not even they shall stop me. I am wracked with thirst. But where there are

plants, there must be water." "And water is what he most sorely needs. Mighty Thor

swims for miles beneath the surface to catch up with Loki." "There. It is he at

"Not so, Evil One." "All I need to do is delay you for seconds, just long enough

for me to reach Asgard." "Mighty Thor, weakened by his ordeal, sinks to the ground,

seemingly beaten." "Jane." "Meanwhile, Jane Foster is still in the clutches of the

executioner and the Enchantress, though it appears as if help is on the way. But

again, with a deft wave of her hands, the Enchantress stops them in their tracks

with a basic spell. All seems hopeless. When suddenly, a fiery object streams

from the sky. Balder the Brave." "It is useless to struggle." "Balder, quickly

changing to human shape, issues his challenge." "Executioner, turn and face me!"

"He has found us, but he cannot overcome us." "Hopeless, as Jane's predicament

seems. In Asgard, it appears that Thor's is equally so. By sheer trickery, the

evil Loki has managed to return to Asgard with the courageous Thor, only seconds

behind." "Your victory is a fraud. Those enchanted stones you carry won the trial

for you." "I'm sending the evidence far out of reach, so that you can never use it

to expose me." "You remain a foe without honor till the very end." "Call me what

you will. The victory is mine." "Not yet. I can still crush you, and shall unless you

tell me where are the stones." "Stay your hand. They are on Earth, where you can

never find them." "At that very moment, Odin's warriors come to bring them to

the Great Hall of Valhalla." "Loki, though you were first, you have practiced

deception. Therefore, I do proclaim Thor, the victim." "For my triumph, I crave

one boon. Send me to Earth, my father." "I grant thy boon. Go, thunder god. I have

spoken." "Once again, Thor turns earthward. While in the street, the battle for

supremacy rages." "Baldur needs help, and help he gets." "Thor, how did he get here?

I must flee. I'll smash this water truck." "Guys are a water that skews my vision,

but it won't stop me." "Enchantress, free the female. We must escape." "You can

have the mortal girl." "Jane, is she all right?" "Merely fainted." "Baldur, you have

my gratitude. I shall return Jane to the office." "Where, where am I? I wonder where

Dawn is." "But Dr. Dawn Blake as Thor has returned to Asgard to receive Odin's

verdict." "I am ready to pronounce judgment." "Here, Sire, this is my proof that

Loki lies. I have retrieved the non-stone." "So, Loki, you have broken your word.

Therefore, I sentence you to the land of the trolls until such time as I see fit

to return you to Asgard. As for you, noble Thor, it is my decision that you are

the victor. So be it."
