In Asgard, Home of the Gods, Loki, the evil arch-enemy of the thunder god Thor,

contrives a scheme to end their rivalry forever.

As Odin, father of the immortals, leads his warriors into battle, a pair of cruel,

unblinking eyes watch his departure with grim satisfaction.

"Now I can transform myself into a bee, and thereby pass the unsuspecting eyes of

Heimdall, guardian of the rainbow bridge, and thus return to Earth to carry out my

plan." In Dr. Blake's office, a gentleman awaits, holding a cane similar to the

doctor's own. "Doctor, it has passed your office hours, but he says it's most

important." "Yes, it's my leg. The pain is unbearable." "Oh, I dropped my cane."

"Allow me to get it for you, doctor. Here you are. I noticed that you, too, are

lame." "Yes, an old injury. Nurse, help him into the examining room." "That won't

be necessary. I feel better already." "Wait, what are you doing? A mist. A haze.

bait to lure you to me. I have not harmed her." "None the less your cunning cannot

save you now." "I warned you of my sorcery. Your hammer cannot shatter my blade.

My sword will freeze the molecules in the air about him. And when 'tis done, Loki

shall be forever triumphant." "I'm encased in a wall of enchanted ice, but my hammer

has power in now to break the sorcery." "Yield thou heartless villain nor suffer

from my invincible mallet." "Never! You have not the heart for slaying." "Odin and

his victorious legions return, flushed with victory." "What is the meaning of

this? My two sons in combat without my consent?" "I wish to spare you unworthy

Thor's treachery, O noble liege. He has brought the forbidden female to Asgard

to make her an immortal. I tried to stop him, my lord." "He lies, O noble Odin."

"Silence! I know too well of Loki's cunning." "Behold, all wisest, how he flaunts

forward to meet his destiny. A destiny so startling we dare not mention it yet."

"Let the trial begin. You Thor have been accused by Loki of deliberately lying.

What sayest thou?" "Come true, my father." "And you, Loki. Speak." "He lies." "I order you both

to do battle at Skornheim, deadly land beyond the pale of Asgard. You will be

unarmed, except for your own wits and your own natural strength. Mark you well.

Even an immortal may find death within forbidden Skornheim. But if you should

survive, the first to return to Asgard, that one shall be adjudged the victor.

helmet shall serve me. My mighty limbs and raging heart shall see me through."

"Thaw. You made it through the plants. But how?" "Call off the executioner and the

"Furious at losing Loki, Yag concentrates on Thor." "His attacks are endless. I must

strike back." "Then reaching with fingers of steel, Thor rips off a fragment of

petrified rock and earns it straight and true, felling the giant Yag even as David

felled Goliath many ages before." "I've won. Loki is now far ahead of me. Can I

overtake him?" "Many leagues away, Loki is not without his troubles." "I cannot long

executioner and the Enchantress, though it appears as if help is on the way. But

again, with a deft wave of her hands, the Enchantress stops them in their tracks

with a basic spell. All seems hopeless. When suddenly, a fiery object streams

from the sky. Balder the Brave." "It is useless to struggle." "Balder, quickly

changing to human shape, issues his challenge." "Executioner, turn and face me!"

"He has found us, but he cannot overcome us." "Hopeless, as Jane's predicament

seems. In Asgard, it appears that Thor's is equally so. By sheer trickery, the

evil Loki has managed to return to Asgard with the courageous Thor, only seconds

behind." "Your victory is a fraud. Those enchanted stones you carry won the trial

for you." "I'm sending the evidence far out of reach, so that you can never use it

to expose me." "You remain a foe without honor till the very end." "Call me what

you will. The victory is mine." "Not yet. I can still crush you, and shall unless you

tell me where are the stones." "Stay your hand. They are on Earth, where you can

never find them." "At that very moment, Odin's warriors come to bring them to

the Great Hall of Valhalla." "Loki, though you were first, you have practiced

deception. Therefore, I do proclaim Thor, the victim." "For my triumph, I crave

one boon. Send me to Earth, my father." "I grant thy boon. Go, thunder god. I have

spoken." "Once again, Thor turns earthward. While in the street, the battle for
