At the gates of Asgard, home of the Norse gods, stands Heimdall, powerful guardian of the Rainbow Bridge.

Halt and identify yourself!

Come, Heimdall, do you not recognize a handmaiden to the royal court of Asgard?

Aye, but you could also be that evil son of Odin's Loki, who by magic can even transform himself into a lovely maiden like you.

But I couldn't be Loki, I myself saw Loki on Yonder Hill.

Where? I see him not.

There, chained to a rock.

And well does he deserve that fate. He plotted against his half-brother Thor, and now as punishment the evil god of mischief must remain chained, chained till the end of time.

No word of this conversation has been missed by the god of mischief.

They'll learn I'm not called god of evil for nothing.

I shall shatter these humiliating chains, and that supreme do-gooder Thor will perish by my hand. I so vow.

Meanwhile, at a Norwegian seaport.

Thanks, Thor, for agreeing to provide the special effects we need in my Viking movie.

The opening scene involves that sea serpent.

Activate your mechanical serpent while I soar aloft with my magic hammer.

The scene begins. In the film story, Thor is the protector of a tribe of Vikings, thus when they are menaced by a sea serpent, conjured up by evil Loki.

The mighty Thor defeats Loki's scheme by flying right into the serpent's mouth, and proceeds to drag it down to the bottom of the fjord, where the monster drowned.

Wow! What an underwater shot!

But from far off Asgard, evil eyes watch the mighty god at work.

My body is trapped here, but not my supervision.

But as Loki continues to eavesdrop from afar.

Great work, Thor. Now, in the next sequence, you hurl your hammer at that mountain, causing an avalanche to bury the villainous Vikings.

Ah, this is the moment for me. Thor's hammer is made of the same magic material as my chains.

Now I know how to free myself.

Dear noble thunder god, you have a surprise in store.

We are ready. Hurl your hammer.

The hammer does not return to my hand.

I am losing momentum, plunging down.

And in Asgard, a flying object appears.

My power of sorcery has worked!

The hammer smashed my chains to bits. I'm free. On Earth, Thor can defeat me. But in Asgard, he's helpless against my sorcery.

So I'll use my black arts to put an idea in his mind.

Ah, I have an idea for regaining my hammer. I must call upon the monarch of Asgard to help me.

Oh, great Odin, wisest of all gods, hear thy sons plea and appear before me.

What trouble besets the god of thunder?

My hammer has mysteriously vanished. I know not where to search.

The solution to such a problem requires great thought.

Meanwhile, I shall transport thee to Asgard myself.

My plan is working out perfectly. Odin is bringing Thor right to me.

Thor arrives at the palace to await Odin's decision.

I offer this advice, thunder god. Thy hammer could only have returned to Asgard. Therefore, the search must be here.

I shall begin at once.

Now I have Thor at my mercy, with no magic hammer to help him.

By the gods, I have stumbled into Loki's forest, and his obedient trees are surrounding me.

With my enchanted hammer, I could repulse this menace with ease. I must fashion another sort of hammer at once.

This wooden mallet will suffice to keep yon enchanted nightmares at bay.

I must devise a far deadlier method of destroying him.

Meanwhile, I'll soon dispose of his wooden hammer.

My weapon is aflame, as it touched with magic. Magic!

Why did I not think of that before? Loki!

He knows! At last! I must act now! I'll change those clouds into flying dragons!

Can Thor defeat this new peril without his magic hammer?

There still is hope. My fingers have the strength to gouge a stone weapon out of the cliffside.

Now attack me if you dare!

A plague on Thor! He meets each new danger head-on!

Then, as the last defeated creature flees, Thor's hammer is strangely drawn to flight, as if magnetized.

Am I seeing things? The hammer is flying on toward the debris of Loki's broken chains.

This cliff contains the magic metal uru. The stone mallet I fashioned was attracted magnetically to the same spot.

I must reach Lord Odin at once. He must be told the god of evil is free.

Then, as the gods respond to Thor's summons...

Odin! I, master of infamy, I have found thee.

You used your black arts to attract Thor's hammer to Asgard in order to smash your mystical chains.

Return to Earth again, my son, and fear not. Loki shall be forbidden to follow.

I shall obtain other means to Thor's hammer, even from here.

At a county fair, the great master Sandu demonstrates his mind-reading power.

Your social security number is 560141683. Hey, that's correct!

He's terrific!

Such fantastic powers must not be wasted on small feats.

I shall increase his extrasensory ability a thousand times stronger.

And he shall be the pawn whereby I shall seize Thor's hammer.

When the wicked Loki had worked his evil spell...

What's happening to me? I seem to possess a strange power of levitation by merely concentrating.

And with that strange power, Sandu, you shall create as much havoc on Earth as I did once.

In a moment, these fools will witness the most amazing bank robbery of all times!

The levitation of an entire bank!

Just as Sandu performs his incredible feat, the Thunder God appears on the scene.

It's Thor! He's forcing the floating bank down again!

Ah, that meddlesome oaf won't stop me!

Holy Hannah! The bank is vanishing!

Later, the son of Odin sits upon a lonely promontory, sorely perplexed.

I've explored the entire area, but it's useless. I can find no trace of the vanished bank.

Of course not, fool! For after Sandu emptied the bank's valuable contents,

he let the people go and teleported the remnants of all his crimes to the moon!

Faster than the speed of light, Sandu heads for New York City

and the United Nations Building.

Now they shall see something they will never forget!

Look! He's making the UN Building rise!

Hey, it happened so fast! All the delegates are still inside!

They didn't have a chance to get out!

Meanwhile Thor, transformed back to Dr. Don Blake, listens to a special news bulletin.

A supernatural event has occurred in New York. The UN Building has taken off into space.

It's a situation that cannot be handled by any meat-mortal. It needs the power of the mighty Thor.

While Thor takes to the air, Sandu carries out his grim plan.

Hear me, delegates of the United Nations! Proclaim me absolute ruler of the Earth,

or I shall levitate this building to the stars themselves!

Whether the man's mad, or humor him...

Look! Here comes Thor!

At last, the moment I have awaited! Thor has arrived at the scene.

Now I will have the pleasure of seeing Sandu defeat the mighty Thunder God!

Sandu, those people are not warriors. Return them safely to the ground and prepare to battle one who is more than your equal.

Teleporting the building back to Earth, Sandu himself descends, with the Thunder God in pursuit.

That dirt and those girders, all I need do is concentrate, and I can teleport them into the air right behind me!

Those girders, hurtling toward me!

It worked like a charm! There goes the mighty Thor, plummeting to the ground!

Has the mighty Thor at last met defeat through Loki's human accomplice?

Look! Thor's stunned! Get back, or you too shall feel the wrath of Sandu!

And now I command those chains to float over to my foe and find him!

But still I am not done with him, not until he is completely helpless!

Look! He's lifting the building!

He's making a drift toward Thor!

I've imprisoned him! He'll never escape from there! Thor is doomed!

And indeed it does seem that Thor is finished, even to Loki, watching from Asgard.

At last I've been revenged! Thor, my ancient enemy, never again will oppose me!

But while Loki rejoices, an unexpected event takes place. Thor regains consciousness.

And at that moment... You're under arrest! We saw the whole thing!

You think mere weapons can frighten Sandu? Go ahead! Shoot!

My bullets! They just dropped to the ground!

With my mental power of levitation, I can control the movements of anything, even bullets!

The revolver! It floated out of my hand! And it's aiming at me!

I've no need to harm such helpless foes. Instead, I'll simply transport you all back to the city!

Thor, chained and helpless, summons his father Odin across the void.

Oh mighty Odin, hear these words!

And the ruler of Asgard responds.

Noble father, grant me the power to rise again and vanquish my foe.

Long has thy belt of strength been in my charge.

Now I shall command the Valkyries to bring it to thee.

At Odin's bidding, the mystic maidens descend, carrying the enchanted belt of strength.

They reach the stricken thunder god, girding the belt around his waist.

As the Valkyries depart, the body of Thor searches with new vitality.

Once again I have power. Once again I am Thor.

I'll be winging aloft in a few seconds. Then let Sandu beware.

Look! It's Thor! He's free!

Now for the moment of reckoning.

I must separate him from his hammer. My only chance.

Imputed clod. The mighty Thor fears nothing that lives.

It missed me.

I separated Thor from his hammer. Now they are in two different dimensions.

Without my mallet, my power will leave me.

There's no other way for Thor to enter the other dimension to retrieve his hammer.

The thunder god is finished.

But when the evil human attempts to lift the enchanted mallet...

It won't budge. I don't understand it.

I'll have to use my mental powers and lift it by levitation.

I still can't move it, no matter how hard I concentrate.

No! Stop! Nobody but Thor can lift the hammer.

The mallet's enchantment is invincible.

But Sandu keeps straining his power of concentration.

Until finally he causes a mental short circuit.

What happened? I'm back in my own dimension again.

The hammer. It just returned in time. And now to settle the score.

Stop! Stay back! All my power is gone. I can't teleport myself. I'll defeat it.

I could hurl you halfway around the world. But you are now beneath the notice of the god of thunder.

We'll take him, Thor. From now on he'll give us no more trouble.

He's due for a long stretch in prison. And in a remote part of Asgard.

That brainless mortal fouled up my plan.

While within the palace.

Once more you have overcome the evil Loki.

But he will never rest until he steals your hammer and your strength.

His sorcery is indeed powerful. If he would but use it for good instead of revenge.

That he will never do. Go back to earth my son and continue your fight for right.

I shall find a better way to imprison the sinister Loki.

I hope so father. If Loki ever breaks free all the hammers in the world might not stop him.

And so the thunder god returns to earth. His Uru hammer held high in readiness to strike wherever injustice prevails.

Across the rainbow bridge of Asgard. Where the blooming heavens roar. You'll behold in friendless wonder.
