"Cross the rainbow bridge of Asgard, where the booming heavens roar, you'll behold in

endless wonder, the God of Wonder, mighty Thor."

Beyond our segment of time and space stands eternal Asgard, the citadel of the Norse Gods,

which is connected to Earth by the rainbow bridge known as Bifrost.

And in the furthest reach of the realm we find a lonely tree, in which is imprisoned Loki,

the Prince of Evil.

"Ages ago the gods condemned me to be trapped within this tree here, I am destined to remain

until my plight will cause one being to shed a tear, but no inhabitant of Asgard will weep,

for I am feared and despised my all hope, however throughout the centuries I've been

imposing my will upon this tree, until at last I can control it, ahh, kind of the warder

of Bifrost approaches."

Having become master of the tree, Loki commands our leaf to fall in front of the unsuspecting

warden, causing his eye to smart, and finally to shed a tear.

"I have succeeded, at last I am free, free to cause discord, to wreak havoc, and to seek

revenge against the one responsible for my years of imprisonment, Thor, God of Thunder.

I shall find him wherever he is, by conjuring up an image of his magic Euro hammer, ahh,

the mighty thunder god is on earth, in a hospital, entertaining children, he always was most

truly charitable to all save me.

Now my unsuspecting half-brother is due for a deadly surprise, prepare yourself Thor,

for Loki is coming."

Traveling at the speed of thought, the merciless immortal reaches our slumbering planet, and

realistically changes into modern dress.

"Ah, back on earth once more, after countless ages, now to the hospital and my arch-enemy,

Thor."

"Yes, Thor was here, bless his heart, he made the children so happy, then he left, I don't

know where he is now, he's gone."

"I must find Thor, without revealing my own presence, only some mysterious catastrophe

will bring him to the scene."

"A few short blocks away, Dr. Don Blake and his lovely nurse, hear the commotion."

"What is it, Doctor, what's happening?"

"Some supernatural force is at work, I must help, but not as Dr. Don Blake."

"But Doctor, quiet, he's gone."

"Once again, I must change my cane into the magic hammer."

"So Thor, god of thunder."

"Hulk, it's bloody Thor!"

"Ah, my simple feat of enchantment has done its work well."

"Clear the street, some sinister magical force is at work, as I rotate my hammer, antimatter

particles will be emitted.

There, it's working, wondrously whirling like a super-fan, it blows the antimatter particles

at the negative victims, causing the antimatter to reverse their atoms, transforming them

into positive humans once more."

"This fella's over, we're normal again!"

"Thanks to Thor!"

"What a great display of skill!"

"You were wonderful."

"Greetings, Thor, it's been a long, long time, hasn't it?"

"A long time?

I do not understand."

"I see you do not remember me, perhaps."

"This will refresh your recollection."

"Loki, you!"

"So, now you recognize me, the god you imprisoned, the god who has come to Earth seeking vengeance!"

"I know not how you escaped, but you must not bring your evil here."

"Enough, Tock!

I challenge you to battle, thunder god!

Come, let us battle high in the air, above these insignificant mortals!"

"I must accept his challenge, I have no other choice."

"Look!

He's making a carpet, look!"

"Whirling his hammer above his head, the thunder god rises like a living helicopter."

"I'll maneuver him into a position where his hammer reflects the blinding rays of the sun,

directly into his eyes.

With my power of suggestion, he will soon be hypnotized.

You are tired, Thor, too tired to remain awake, you must sleep, sleep, sleep, I must sleep,

you are in my power, I am your master, you must obey me, I must obey you.

I have triumphed, he's completely at my mercy!"

"But the evil Loki has no mercy, and noble Thor is helpless, what will happen next?"

"I have waited centuries for this moment, with Thor under my hypnotic spell, I shall

use his power to serve my own evil ends, descend to earth, helpless one."

"In his hypnotic trance, the mystic image might deceive him.

"Now go to yonder house of wild beasts and set them free."

"But as Thor approaches the iron cages, Loki's attention is diverted toward the fallen hammer."

"Look at the foolish mortals straining to lift the magic mallet.

None but Thor possesses the power to lift it."

"But in that fateful moment separated from his hammer, more than sixty seconds Thor,

god of thunder, reverts to the mortal form of Dr. Don Blake.

As the hypnotic spell, he's broken."

"I must touch the hammer again."

"I can't lift this thing off the ground."

"I can't budge it either."

"Let me try."

"Are you kidding?"

"Let the poor sap try.

It'll be good for a laugh."

"But the instant Don Blake touches the enchanted hammer."

"Where'd the skinny guy go?"

"Now, Loki, it is time to settle the score between us."

"You've shattered my hypnotic spell.

I must escape and devise a far deadlier plan than before."

"Moments later, the Loki dashes into a nearby subway station, pushing helpless bystanders

directly in front of an oncoming train."

"As mighty Thor leaps to the rescue."

"I knew the soft-hearted Thor would stop to give aid to the useless humans."

"They're saved!"

"Nobody can tell that."

"Nobody except Thor."

"I must stop Loki before he can cause a new catastrophe."

"Up there, he's given life to the winged horse from yonder billboard."

"I cannot swing my hammer while crowds mill about me."

"Loki is running amok."

carries his vanquished foe to the top of the world's highest structure, spinning Loki

around with dazzling superhuman speed, hurling him aloft beyond the sight of mortal eyes."

"Farewell, prince of evil, may we never meet again."

"Propelled with the speed of thought, the magic hammer carries its living burden over

the rainbow bridge to Asgard, the citadel of the gods."

"Behold, it is the hammer of Thor bringing Loki back for judgement."

"Without pause, the enchanted hammer returns to Earth, and to its noble master, the god

of thunder, while thus speaks Odin, Lord of Asgard."

"Loki, never again shall thou leave this realm.

Here must thou dwell forever, forever, father."

"But Loki can never forget the bitter taste of defeat, so he plans, a plan so deadly that

the very heavens seem to tremble."

"I must have revenge on the god of thunder, and I shall not rest until it is mine.

I shall discover his weakness by means of the ancient sacred smoke ritual.

As the smoke slowly rises, I concentrate on my victim, Thor, Thor."

"He appears, but wait.

I see him changing, becoming an ordinary mortal.

Now his magic hammer appears, he touches the hammer, and is transformed once more.

So that is his secret.

He is completely dependent upon the accursed hammer.

I shall defeat him at last."

"Certain of success, Loki dares the forbidden journey to Earth, willing to risk the wrath

of Odin himself in order to destroy the god of thunder.

Minutes later, at the reception room of Dr. Don Blake, a strange visitor arrives."

"You, come to me.

I command you.

I must see Dr. Blake at once."

"At, at once, go right in."

"Heed my instructions.

Remember them, and when the time comes, obey.

You are Dr. Blake?"

"Yes, but how did you get past Miss Foster?"

"Getting past a mere mortal is no problem for the prince of evil."

"Loki."

"With desperate speed, the lame physician seizes his cane, stamping it swiftly upon

the floor."

"You dare come here."

"I dare anything to destroy you forever meet me in the park in one hour.

There, only one shall survive."

"He comes.

Vengeance shall be mine at last.

"You deceive yourself, Loki.

I have one weapon which you cannot match, the invincible hammer of four."

"With cat-like speed, Loki sidesteps the mighty mallet, just as nurse Jane Foster appears.

With mystical cunning, Loki transforms a nearby shrub into a snarling tiger."

"Behold, the mortal female is in dire danger.

Savor or seize your returning hammer.

There's only time for one, which shall it be?"

"Jane."

"Not realizing her danger, Jane Foster turns as the savage, starving beast stalks after

her.

Although unarmed, without his mighty hammer, Thor leaps to the girl's device.

Having slain the tiger, the thunder god realizes his magic hammer has been out of his hands

for almost sixty seconds.

He must touch it before the minute is up, or lose the power of Thor.

Too late.

The minute has passed.

Thor is returning to his mortal identity."

"Then, before the desperate Don Blake can reach the hammer, Loki creates a magical force

field around it."

"Nothing alive can pierce my force field.

The hammer is forever beyond your reach.

And now, to celebrate my victory, I shall have sport with your helpless planet."

"So the triumphant Loki begins his rampage, transforming mortals into featureless phantoms,

metal motor cars into masses of melting ice cream, simple toys into sugary candy."

"I haven't had this much amusement in centuries."

"At that very moment, Don Blake gets a bold idea."

"It's the only chance to save mankind."

"The next day, a startling headline appears on front pages everywhere, and Loki reacts

just as expected."

"Thor?

It's impossible.

He cannot have regained his hammer.

I must find out at once.

The force field is still intact."

"Welcome, Loki.

I have been expecting you."

"Thor, with your hammer in hand, impossible.

I shall remove the force field and see."
