Episode 16

I have sent the Imperial Prince an invitation to Joseon.

Thankfully, he was positive about it.

He wishes to leave for Joseon soon.

We have our goods ready.

We will depart as soon as the Imperial Prince is prepared.

We hope Joseon will be prepared without any issues.

Good work.

This is for your trouble.

The guests have high expectations.

Do not worry.

If the visit goes well, you will receive a larger payment.

Ah, yes.

Sir, you have a guest.

To stop her from being deposed, they want to send her to the Qing Dynasty.

I do not know.

I do not know how to protect her.

I do not know what is for her best.

We cannot send Her Highness away like this.

Are you in your right mind?

The princess is trying to read the archives.

The archives?

Don't you think she must have heard something from Min Yoo Hwan?

You know that the king goes to the queen for counsel often.

Prince Chuseong and the king are looking into you in order to attack, Minister.

There are many rumors.

Shouldn't you attack before you are unexpectedly hit with an iron hammer?

I have an ingenious plan.

Before I tell you...

you must make me a promise.

Once the seat of the queen is empty...

will you make me the queen of the palace?

For a very long time

the queen has been secretly communicating with Prince Chuseong.

Shut your mouth.

I have evidence.

Though I have just seen you...

I am writing because I so wish to see you again.

When will this longing heart end?

I know I should not feel this way.

My feelings for you...

I could not believe that the queen would write such things.

Yet that is clearly her writing.

This is the girl who has been delivering the letters.

Are you saying the queen really wrote these?

If you are lying, you will die on the spot!

Please forgive me!

I had no idea that Her Majesty and Prince Chuseong were writing such words.

I could never have dreamed such a thing.

Is this enough?

It should be enough for the cost of your mother's medicine.

Thank you.

All the attendants and court ladies who were here 10 years ago...

find out where they are.

But why?

I need to know now.

Yes, Your Highness.

What? Did you have a dream about the princess?

Eat up.

Yesterday, she was going on about lighting incense and whatnot.

Yet Mother was up early in the morning making you herbal medicine.

Hurry up and take it.

You'll be getting up by noon, at this rate.

Aren't you going to work today?

You made him herbal medicine and watched him go to work.

Mother, are you sure you are angry at him?

Even if I am angry, I have to see my son go to work.

Then why are you hiding like that?

I'm supposed to be angry right now.

Stop shaking your leg.

All right. Finish writing.

"My lips crashed onto her lips."

That's good.

Don't pretend you care about me.

It is not your place to.

"Then my hands began to slowly untie her top."

"Then my..."

"Her..."

What are you looking at?

Are you having a hard time?

Hey, hey.

He's half unemployed. Of course it's hard.

Goodness, this really is hard.

Whenever I read your novels

I end up sighing in dismay that it is hard to turn the pages.

Our novels are very popular.

Forget it. Don't bother.

He is not on our level.

Look here.

Even the princess raved about that novel.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Young Master!

You have a visitor.

Who?

Not you two.

Young Master Gyeon Woo, you have a visitor.

Hurry.

Da Yeon.

It has been a long time.

I heard that things became difficult for you due to the princess.

You've been misinformed.

Haven't you been dismissed from your post?

My family does not know yet.

About Gyeon Hee...

Do not worry.

Thank you.

I will ask my father for help.

If I tell him about your troubles, I am certain--

You do not need to.

I will take care of it myself.

It is not something for you to get involved in.

When it comes to our relationship...

I am starting to feel some distance.

I don't think we are in a relationship that requires us to be any closer.

Wow.

Our Chang Hwi is as good-looking as always.

- Really? - Of course.

Da Yeon.

I cannot live even one day...

without you.

How was that?

You are the definition of "Ok Dong Seon Poong."

Hey.

Isn't is "Ok Gol Seon Poong"? (Fair and noble)

It is "Ok Dong."

It just sounds correct. "Ok Dong Seon Poong."

"Ok Dong Seon Poong."

Who cares which one it is?

- Hold the mirror. - Sorry.

Da Yeon.

What is it?

Gyeon Woo has ended up being dismissed...

I know that. Well, then...

Wait.

Da Yeon!

It's all right. It's all right.

Is it funny? Are you laughing?

You rascals! Who do you think you are?

Chang Hwi, I'm going to get going.

Your Majesty, a message from the Qing Dynasty has arrived.

The Imperial Prince is coming.

He will propose and go to the Qing Dynasty with you.

Isn't it good news?

I will not go.

Are you planning on causing trouble and becoming a burden to the king?

That will end up causing harm to Prince Wonja as well.

I want to go to my mother.

Eat up and get stronger.

Everyone is worried about you.

Send me to my mother.

Your mother is right in front of you.

What are you talking about?

Stop complaining and eat your food now.

If you continue to act like this, things will get difficult for Wonja.

Your dead mother is a criminal.

Do you want Wonja...

to become the child of a criminal?

As always, you hide behind Wonja.

However... those kinds of threats no longer work on me.

The girl who could not speak up and shook in fear of the queen...

I am not that child from 10 years ago.

I do not know what I should do.

Why don't you accept the marriage offer?

Mother.

Once the Imperial Prince arrives...

it will be more difficult to refuse.

However...

Princess Hyemyeong is already being targeted by them.

If only for her sake

I am starting to think it may be better for her to be there.

Oh, that smells.

He is really barbaric.

Oh my.

Wow.

I never imagined you would enjoy fermented fish this much.

How can you stand to eat something that smells so foul?

Taste it before saying that.

It is hard to take the first bite. You'll be addicted in an instant.

I guarantee it...

I guarantee it.

You will wake up in your sleep thinking about this flavor.

You guarantee what?

There he goes again.

Is he depressed?

Please forgive me.

How could you take part in this too, Young Master Gyeon?

Was it not enough to get dismissed from your post today?

His Majesty the king is here.

You have become thin.

No, I am fine.

Hyemyeong.

Do you still have nothing to say to me?

The Imperial Prince is coming to Joseon to see you.

Get ready to meet him.

Father.

Are you saying you will be accepting his offer of marriage?

Isn't it time for you to get married?

I cannot go.

I must... find Mother.

What did you just say?

Do you remember this?

I heard she got it from you, Father.

Even on the day she got deposed...

I heard she was wearing it.

Master Min met with Mother three years ago.

She gave this to him.

You're saying... she is alive?

That is what I believe.

You asked me why I was not speaking to you.

I could not tell you.

You ordered a gag law regarding everything to do with Mother.

I miss her and long for her.

You made it so that I could not say one word.

I will not be going anywhere.

I cannot go.

You have all worked very hard.

It would have happened anyhow. Why would he bother fighting it?

If the things go well with the envoy from the Qing Dynasty

everything will be over.

There can be no mistakes.

We have already prepared everything.

This is truly killing two birds with one stone, isn't it?

We send away the bothersome princess and get something out of it.

Things are working out very well.

Why don't we all have a drink to that?

Yes! You can have a drink as well.

Oh, my girls!

You're here, my lord.

I missed you all.

Oh, hello, girls.

Let's go inside.

Let's go inside!

Oh my.

Who knew there would be a body down there?

Over here.

Your Highness, this is...

Do you like it?

It is so beautiful.

When lovebirds find their mate

they cherish and love each other forever.

I want to live with you like that for a long time, Crown Princess.

Your Highness.

The Imperial Prince is coming?

They say he is coming to propose to the princess in person.

It has already been 10 days since he crossed the border.

Put Young Master Gyeon in charge of the arrival reception.

Who else is so perfect for the task?

He has studied abroad, so he knows the Qing Dynasty well.

An interpreter will not be needed. And also...

he is close to the princess.

It seems to be a good choice, Your Majesty.

Yes, I do not think there is a better candidate.

Young Master Gyeon has already been dismissed from his post.

This is a very important job for both countries.

We have an excellent person.

Is there any reason we must look for someone else?

This is not right.

How can I be in charge of the reception?

- It is the king's command. - Father.

Will you disobey the king's command?

Obey him.

Now that Young Master Gyeon is in charge of the reception

even if something were to go wrong

Young Master Gyeon and the princess will be held responsible for everything.

That's right.

Of course that cannot happen.

Yes.

Oh, Your Highness. What brings you here?

Minister of the Left, I need to talk to you in private.

What is it that you need to say?

Recently, Master Min was found dead.

Is that so?

I have a letter that Master Min left me.

Aren't you curious about its contents?

It is the letter of a traitor. Should I be curious?

He wrote about my mother.

Now, are you a little curious?

Until I know the truth about everything

I cannot leave this country.

Your Highness.

Why would you say these things to me?

Do you really not know why?

I do not know what is written in the letter.

Why not leave it to the Office of Internal Audit if it's about your mother?

There is a gag law regarding this matter.

You could end up getting hurt, Your Highness.

I am thinking about it.

Don't think too long about it.

You must be busy preparing to meet the Imperial Prince.

I do not plan on going to the Qing Dynasty.

I already told you.

This is a matter that concerns the royal family and the administration.

It is not up to you to decide whether to go or not.

Do you truly want to get in the way of Wonja being appointed Crown Prince?

What about being appointed Crown Prince?

We are discussing the appointing of the Crown Prince with the Qing Dynasty.

If the Imperial Prince is rejected at a sensitive time like this

I wonder what could happen.

Everyone is waiting at the Mohwagwan.

Your Highness.

What should we do?

The Imperial Prince is in the city.

He should be arriving soon. What do we do?

Why isn't the princess here yet?

She isn't planning on not coming, is she?

This way.

Her Highness, the princess, is entering!

You look even more beautiful today, Your Highness.

Thank you, Minister of the Left.

Say hello to one another.

Hello. I am Dalhan.

I am Princess Hyemyeong.

[My Sassy Girl]

It seems like the Imperial Prince likes the princess quite a bit.

Do I have to send the princess to the Qing Dynasty like this?

Just think about protecting the princess and Wonja.

Do not go!

The appointment of the Crown Prince is riding on this marriage.

The princess will end up going to the Qing Dynasty for certain.

She is dead.

I thought something more important would be here.

There is no one left.

Something is going on with the princess.

Watch her outside the palace.

Find me the Minister of the Left's weakness.

My girl...

What is your wish, Your Highness?

I can grant it for you.
