A motorcycle can
really take you places.

What began as the way
I commuted to set

helped convince our writers
to put Daryl on a bike --

a small victory for me,

and the start
of crafting this character

into the post-apocalyptic guy
I thought he could be.

And with Daryl's notoriety
came this --

the opportunity to explore
this world one ride at a time.

So finally
being back in Georgia

is a real
full-circle moment.

Got these cool helmets.

I first met on a movie set
15 years ago.

as they come.

From Broadway to "Sons of
Anarchy" to "American Primeval,"

he's recently become part
of "The Walking Dead" family

in "Dead City,"

and I'm excited to have one
of my favorite "Sons" boys

a movie together

that we did in Bulgaria.

You know a lot
of the "Sons" boys.

I love Ron Pearlman.

I worked with him in Prague
for, like, six months.

your show on our set.

For me and my career...Yeah.

...all the movies I had done
before "Sons" and the arcs,

I'd never been on a TV show
as a regular.

And when Sutter
convinced me to play Tig,

I really was balking because I
didn't know much about the guy,

and I was fearful -- was he
gonna become just psychotic?

But in a series...
Yeah. Bang, bang, bang.

...you never really know
where your guy's gonna go...Yeah.

...and it's
the best decision.
That's great.

Yeah.
I love hearing
stories like that, yeah.

I can't believe
that the window worked out,

that my old ass can sit
on this [bleep] bike

and be with you
like I'm on a holiday.Yeah.

We wait till day three
and you're like,

"Goddamn, is this over?"

It's crazy how portraying

riding renegades helped
propel both of our careers,

roles for which Kim and I
will forever be grateful.

So it seems right
he's joining me in a place

with a rich motorcycle history

that not many people
are aware of.

Over the next three days,

from its rolling hills,
farmland, and into its cities,

we'll be meeting people
who are defining the past,

present, and future
of moto culture in Georgia

with a "Walking Dead" reunion
or two along the way.

I have lots of fond memories

of shooting "The Walking Dead"
back when we first got here.

Norman showed up on a bike.

His hair was really short.
He just --

He looked like a local.

He was doing the thing
and living the part,

and he just wanted to feel
it all around him

and feel it up in his soul.

I remember that really,
really well about Norman.

I mean, the best days
on "Sons of Anarchy"

were when
we were riding.Yeah.

When I got the part, Kurt Sutter
goes, "You can ride?"

And I go, "Yeah, I can --
I can ride.

I've been riding
my whole life."

And then you realize
that the boys,

when you meet the boys,

it becomes apparent that they
all had to go to biker school

before they shot
that pilot.

I just did "Bikeriders"
with -- with Jeff Nichols,

and it was
the same thing.

There was a bike school,

you know, and they taught
half those guys how to ride,

you know, the week before.

Nah, you were great in that.
Your m-- Your mouth was amazing.

That was the -- That was
the star of the [bleep] show.

It's nice to meet
the proper [bleep] ups.

Man, I would have kissed
that mouth.

All those [bleep] braces you
had flying out of your brain.

Reedus: While chopper culture
first emerged

in post-World War II California

and expanded soon after
into the Midwest,

on the East Coast,
that revolution started here,

in the unassuming hills
of Georgia.

Since 2017, it's history

that Georgia Motor Oil
has been working to preserve.

This is a nice spot,
boys.

Newsome: Well, this is
my little humble abode.

This is my shop.

Oh, cool. Very cool.

So, Gene ran Blue Ribbon Cycles
back in 1975.
Good to see you, Kim.

And I've been kind of
helping preserve a little bit

of the local history of this era
around motorcycles and choppers.

I mean, this bike's
been in a magazine.

The Disco Bike. Look.
Coates: The Disco Bike.

The Disco --
He has the metal flake.

It's got not only
the metal flake,

but it's got lights

that, when it's moving,
light up around the front.
Seriously?

Yeah.
No way.

I had my -- my first Kawasaki
in the early '70s

when I was like in high school,
and it was all metal flake.Yeah.

I mean, it was really different
wacky colors, purple and blues.

When this was done,
it was pretty popular.

And then metal flake
kind of went away.

Reedus: Did you do all
the little custom skulls?
Yeah. Yeah.

Little knickknacks
I picked up here and there.

You want to kick it over?

after that many years.

Tell me about
Blue Ribbon Cycle.

Well, I opened in '75

with an unemployment check
and a toolbox.

Chopper guys,
you think California,

you think West Coast...
Yeah.

...but, I mean, Gene was part
of bringing bikes like this

in this area.
Yeah.

When I opened,
it was probably the only shop

in the Greater Atlanta area.
Yeah.

If you needed a part,
you about had to come to me.

All of the club history
you see in here,

these clubs are gone.

One-percenter clubs.

You know, the clubs back
in the early '60s.

If this stuff wasn't saved
by someone, it would be trash.

The moment I tell him
I found Max's old bike

or I found an old cut,
they're like, "That's amazing.

That's a g-- I love
what you're doing.

So glad someone cares."

"Return to Evelyn."

Reedus: It takes passion
and dedication

to restore vintage
riding machines,

but what Tyler undertakes is
just as impressive...

Newsome: I mean, this is
straight out of the '70s.

You've got the old Harley one.
But for me, it's this, you know?

Because someone ran this shop,
someone was employed here.

You know, that's a big deal.
Yeah.

...keeping the memories of those
who actually lived it alive.

Coates: Those bikes would be
so fun to ride.

Reedus: So cool, yeah.

with the sun coming up.

This was the life right here.

Georgia's motorcycle past,

we're on a 40-mile ride
into Atlanta

to catch up
with some women

introducing the culture
to a new wave of riders.

It's kind of like
a second family home,

but we specialize in gear.

It's like a moto community hub

bringing everybody together.

how you guys met,

the two of you?

Um, so we met
on Instagram.

Oh, wow.Yeah, so I started --

I started a motorcycle
magazine for women

called "Black Girls Ride,"
and I just reached out to her.

We began communicating
and doing events together...

...and it just branched out.

Natural.
It's been natural, yeah.
Yeah. Organic relationship.

How do you guys see,
like, the --

the women's riding culture
change throughout the years?

When we created
"Black Girls Ride" in 2011,

the face of motorsports
was pretty homogeneous.

It was, you know,
middle-aged white males.

And I'm excited that
we've been instrumental

in changing the face
of what that looks like.
Yeah. Yeah.

The women's community
just blew -- blew up.

One of my heroes started a club
called the Blaque Pearl MC,

They're amazing,
the more I learn about them.

The thing about
the Blaque Pearls

is they're really
a purist club,

and they model themselves
after traditional MCs,

and it's about the ride and it's
about the sisterhood.

Suicide, she's out there.
She's one of the founders.

She's gonna introduce you
to the members of her chapter...

...and, uh,
these women are badass.

when they hit the ground

that they don't know.

Like, they're prepared
for any situation.

So that's very important

'cause they have to be
safe out there.

Even though it is recreation
for us,

um, for some people
it's their life

and it's very serious to them,
so we're gonna respect that

and we need them to respect us.
Coates: I love it.

Reedus: You know
the East Bay Dragons?

Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Oh, yeah.

So, I rode with them through
Oakland and San Francisco.
Okay.

Uh, maybe 200 bikes
in a row.

And I'm talking
to one of them,

and he goes, "Oh, the H.A.
headquarters is right up here."

I'm like,
"Are you cool with them?"

They told me that they meet
at a Chinese restaurant

in San Francisco
the first of every month,

have a cup of coffee
and just don't step on toes.

That's -- That's been
for decades.
It's about respect.

That's -- That's literally part
of our prospecting period.

That is actually two of
the books that we have to read.

We have to read up on Tobie
and also up on Sonny.

Yeah, we make
our prospects read.
Yeah. Yeah.

Bryan Fuller has been

fabricators in the country.

We got rid of
all the electronics.

Took probably 250 pounds
off of this bike.

So, the tank is 1937.Okay.

And that was the inspiration
for the R 18 when they made it.

So 1937 bolted
into a '22 frame.

literally just right in.

is always kind of hiding

This whole town was like
a dirt-- deserted sort of town.

And we used to shoot

quarter-and-half-round
machine guns on this street...

It was
a full-on firefight.

our TV family during season two

and helped our little series
explode.

As a writer, executive producer,
and showrunner since 2011,

he now oversees the entire
"Walking Dead" universe.

The area in and around Senoia

was just the perfect place
to shoot "The Walking Dead,"

and the people were very,
very generous to us

over the years
for letting us come make a mess.

just, it made its mark

even from the get go.

We were a small-town nobody,
and then it blew up.

It's a big major part
of what the town is now.

It is incredible
how something about the dead

brought so much life.

There was a wall around this
community down there for years.

There's a pond in there.

I caught it on fire.

Coates: A pond?
Yeah. Norman set
the entire thing on fire.

With a bazooka
on top of a truck...

Like, the whole lake went up

started "The Walking Dead."

For so many years,
it'd be such a massive hit.

People started moving
to Atlanta,

crews started moving

and I really think it had
something to do with your show.

The way we made it was closer to
"Six Million Dollar Man"

than "Game of Thrones."

Those early days
of "Walking Dead,"

it felt like we were making
an indie film in the woods

and no one was around.

We're out here in Senoia,

and it was like
the best summer camp on Earth.

About "Dead City," 'cause
our friend's in "Dead City,"

what was that like
having Kim there?

He kind of owns every scene
he walks into.

It's an incredible thing.

How does it feel to be back

It's great.

through emotions coming here.

is I could have never done it

with my painting stuff,

That's Chastin Brand,
an artist Bryan Fuller

told us about back in Atlanta.

That's the original
paint on that, right?

Chastin is a vintage guy

and Fuller Moto's go-to
for lettering and pinstriping.

We met up this morning before
we even got the cameras rolling,

so we decided to hit
the ground running.

'Cause you want to leave it

I usually leave them,
like, all these.

Um, you know,
I love this stuff.

I kind of treat it
like folk art.

this is years and years of wear.

it's starting to wear in,

but, you know, like,
if I do it,

This is an old
converted grain silo.

Brand: We got some paint,
some enamel.

This is basically the same way
it's been done since,

like, I don't know,
the Roman chariot days.

This is a squirrel-hair brush,
same as they used back then.

Used to pull,
like, really fine lines.

So it's just a simple paint.

Is it real squirrel hair?
It is, yeah.

Wow. I thought that was
a little knife.

It's not at all.

They call it a dagger.

Pinstriping is an intricate
and ancient art.

But it was with the rise
of the '50s

hot rod culture
and custom builds

when it took root
in the motorsport community.

I was always drawn to this
'cause, like,

you know, growing up
in the paint body shop,

my dad building, like,
custom cars

and seeing all the processes
that went into that.

I saw a dude at a car show,
like,

using just this paint brush
and it looked awesome.

The coolest thing ever.
Yeah.

And it was so cool
'cause it was so primitive.

Like, you can't hide
behind that.

Basically what we'll do...

Pinky out.
Pinky out.

Pinky's gonna give you
all the stability.

Then you can just
pull the line.

Oh, yeah!
Just kind of keep at it.

You can just kind of
build a design.

These are like
lips on a frog.

Really wide red lips.

were some of the best years
of my life,

just solidifies
the unspoken bond
