the pyro,

the swagger to the
ring enroute to do battle.

The roof about
to explode here.

An entrance sets
the tone for the excitement

you're about to witness.

From glass shattering to
heightened senses.

Today, we look back

at the most exciting
entrances of the 1990s.

That's what I
call making an entrance.

This is WWE's
Greatest Moments.

If you smell--

Oh, my God, what
the hell are you doing?

Welcome,
everyone,

to WWE's Greatest Moments,
I'm Michael Cole,

and on this edition, we're
taking a look back

at some of the most adrenaline
inducing entrances

during one of the hottest eras

in professional wrestling
history, the 1990s.

The entrance is one of the most
important elements

of a superstar's presentation.

Once that music hits, the crowd
gets deafening

and your entire WWE trajectory
is off and running.

JR, that's what I
call making an entrance.

Now, I just have
one question for you.

Are you ready?

No, I said--

Are you ready?

Perhaps no
entrance in history

could get audiences to rock out
more than

the Hall of Fame group,
D-Generation X.

DX brought the party wherever
they went.

Raise some hell, make a
lot of noise.

Take it from me,
it was a

literal rave inside the arena
every night.

But it was at SummerSlam 1998
that the leader

of the D-Generates, Triple H,
shook Madison Square Garden

to its very core.

Are you ready?

and the DX Band-

Whoa.

performing live
here.

This was a
really cool moment

because we had not gotten to the
era yet

of bands performing
before a big match.

It was so super
cool to see to see the guy--

You think you're better than us?

And he's walking to the ring.

You better--

Bow to the
masters.

Break it down.

D-Generation X--

Sold out, people
hanging from the rafters.

The reaction was so over the
top, incredible.

It sounded great.

So loud in there, like I'm
getting tingly

just thinking about it.

D-Generation.

I've been very
lucky in my career

to have some of the
biggest moments.

This one was really special.

One of the most
popular stars in professional

wrestling was undoubtedly the
man called Sting.

Whoo.

The bright face
paint, the neon ring attire.

Fans worldwide loved Sting.

I have given my blood,
my sweat and my tears for WCW.

But over time,

the Stinger's
appearance changed.

A more mysterious and dark
broody persona began

to emerge out of the icon.

The vibrancy was traded in for a
plain black and white look.

After lurking in the shadows for
a year, we saw the Stinger like

we've never seen him before at
Starrcade 1997.

You have to go
back to the end

of the summer of
1996

to remember the last time this
man walked to the ring.

His return to
the ring was a just huge event

regardless, but his entrance
that night,

I'll never forget it.

When a man's heart is
full of deceit,

it burns up, dies, and a dark
shadow fights over his soul.

It was like a
child's voice, and it's like-

it starts off in shadows.

This is Sting.

Me being the face of WCW
for so many years,

I knew I had to change.

A little bit more cutting edge,
a little bit more hardcore.

Wrestling fans wanted to see
that.

And he sort of
like walks to the ring,

but the whole thing
feels so weighted

The dark,
brooding, ominous Sting

was really the beginning of
something that would be

a big part of defining his
career moving forward.

There was an aura that
night that was in the audience,

it was in the locker room,
it was everywhere.

That's a cold
stare, is what that is.

He was really
excited about it.

I thought it was great.

The crowd reacted incredible.

The presentation
that Sting walked out to--

For years we had bright colors,

all of a sudden more
grimy, more dark.

It was a huge transition.

Just to hear the crowd
react, to see the interest that

people had, and to hear the buzz
all over the place.

One of the greatest times that I
had.

Talking about the
greatest entrances of all time,

we cannot leave out--

The phenom.

The prince of
darkness.

The immortal
Undertaker.

For three decades, the Deadman's
entrance was a sight to behold.

Completely awe inspiring.

The ominous walk, the lightning,
the thunder.

Everything about the Phenom sent
chills up your spine.

I don't think
there's any doubt that

is the most awesome entrance in
history.

It was inside
Madison Square Garden

where the Deadman would make
entrance that would make

and the Dark Knight himself
beam with pride.

I tried to keep
people off guard, like,

"W-What's he gonna do next?"

I had envisioned this entrance
where I would descend

into the building.

My vision was dragging a

demonic-looking,
dragon-esque type creator.

You'd think, "That- that's kind
of way over the top,"

somehow or another, it worked.

Welcome to the
Survivor Series.

And we are going to
see an Undertaker

like we've
never seen before.

Survivor Series
'96 was hands down one of my

favorite events that I ever
attended.

He is the
Undertaker, and look at that.

He's descending from above.

Seeing Taker
come down like a bat was creepy,

but I thought it was cool in a
way.

Sending chills
up and down

the spine of this
capacity crowd.

I was really trying
to put something out there

that people would remember.

Now that's the
Undertaker.

There's no
question that one of the most

influential groups of all time
is the New World Order,

led by "Hollywood" Hogan.

The nWo had a swagger that
resonated

with audiences everywhere.

Here's the nWo.

The black and
white gear,

the pompous attitude.

The New World Order had that
cool factor.

Everyone wanted a piece of the
nWo, including basketball icons.

The limousine
has pulled up here

to the United Center, the home
of the world champion

Chicago Bulls, tonight,

is the home of professional
wrestling's number one program,

Nitro Live.

And, oh my goodness, that is an
nWo limousine.

The city of
champions.

Dennis Rodman,
The Worm is here.

Just actually
one of the coolest

entrances of all time.

The single camera shot from the
limo,

all the way through the
back, to the ring.

What a duo this
is.

Well, they are making their way,
apparently,

right to the entrance way, right
to the ring area here.

They're coming
right out here.

I feel like they
were like the first guys that

was like, "We're gonna take
over, and we're gonna do

whatever we want, and we're
gonna look cool doing it."

Hulk Hogan,
Dennis Rodman, together,

Eric Bischoff in tow.

This super cool
brand of bad guys,

that still sold merchandise,
that still were cool.

You see this
capacity crowd on hand standing.

It's, uh, one of
those things where people

just-just get hooked on.

One of the most
fun things about a WWE

entrance is the interaction with
the audience.

No one did that better than--

"The Road Dogg"
Jesse James,

"The Badd Ass"
Billy Gunn.

The tandem known
as the New Age Outlaws presented

a different style of entrance
where the crowd that was able

to play along while the
D-O-Double G

did his thing on the microphone.

Welcome to the Dogg
House.

And if you didn't
know,

your ass better call somebody.

[crowd yells
"Oh, you didn't know?

Your ass better call somebody"]

Oh, you didn't know?

Your ass better call somebody.

This was all stuff we were
saying to each other backstage.

We were doing things at this
point to entertain ourselves.

It just so happened that it
turned into being entertaining

for the fans as well.

Every single night,
we would turn it up to 100 and

try to blow the speakers out.

It was like being able to hang
out with your best friend

and act like a complete idiot.

How much better than that does
it get?

Those New Age
Outlaws always kick

tha shiznit doggy style.

They were raucous.

The crowd was electric.

Everybody in the crowd was
standing,

and everybody in the crowd was
reciting every word I said.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and
girls, children of all ages,

D-Generation X proudly brings to
you its soon-to-be

WWE Tag Team Champions
of the world,

"The Road Dogg" Jesse James,

"The Badd Ass" Billy Gunn,
the New Age Outlaws.

Me and Road Dogg,
that's what solidified us,

is "Hey, these guys are
here, and we are badass."

And if you're not down with
that, we got two words for you.

We've already
seen the eerie presence

that the Undertaker makes each
time he enters an arena.

Trust me, there's nothing like
that feeling of witnessing

an Undertaker entrance.

The Deadman has risen.

The grand stage of WrestleMania
14 saw one of the most

eerie appearances of all time.

You hear the roar
of that crowd and the love

that they're throwing out,
it was pretty cool.

It was a pretty cool feeling.

The Druids
representing the creatures

of the night worldwide.

I think what's
amazing about Undertaker's

entrance, is over the years,
being able to add elements

to that entrance, like by adding
the druids,

it adds to the legend
of the Undertaker.

Whoa.

There he is.

The Prince of Darkness.

There was an
element of magic at hand.

The Undertaker
already playing some mind

games with his younger brother.

It was really, really
intimidating.

My disbelief was suspended.

And I'm the guy standing in the
ring, and here he comes.

The druids, my big
robe that I had on.

At that point, it was one of my
bigger entrances.

My God, what an
experience.

The arrival of the Deadman.

There's one man
in professional

wrestling history that can
define the word intensity

with just one note
of his theme song.

We have never
seen a man quite like this.

The myth of
Goldberg is legendary.

This man literally walked
through fire on his way

to spearing the competition.

Do I look like the
kind of guy to mess around with?

And one thing was
for certain.

By the end of the night,
everyone would be chanting--

As the fans
are standing in unison

and the most famous chant in
professional wrestling

is filling up the MGM
Grand.

When I would
watch Goldberg's entrance,

it was probably one of the most
original entrances

that I had seen.

Door would open,
security would line up,

he would walk right by security.

It made him a star.

You know, this
is an intimidating sight.

He stood out
in such stark contrast

to everything else.

He's just this larger-than-life
badass force of nature.

The man is here.

The entrance was
captivating by itself.

As Goldberg's
somewhere lost in that fire.

You always hope that
your entrance would make

the biggest splash
humanly possible.

And that night I took it to a
completely different level.

There's not a
butt on a chair in this place.

All that had
kind of a prize

fight feel to it.

There's nothing
like a Goldberg entrance.

During the late
1990s, Bret "The Hitman" Hart

was in a war with the United
States of America.

I've been all over
the United States of America,

and the one thing that I've been
particular look forward to

is leaving it.

As backup, The
Hitman recruited his own family

to join the cause, the Hart
Foundation.

July 1997, WWE presented In Your
House, Canadian Stampede,

held in Calgary, the
birthplace of the Harts.

It's absolutely
phenomenal the popularity

for the greatest wrestling
family in the game.

Those entrances at
Canadian Stampede are insane.

The Hart Foundation make their
entrances separately.

Brian Pillman.

This was like the
pinnacle, like maybe the

greatest moment of triumph to
come back to our hometown.

It was like a magical time.

Jim "The Anvil"
Neidhart.

That was
probably the largest pop

I've ever gotten.

The British
Bulldog.

Every entrance
would get louder,

and I remember the reaction to
Owen was really crazy.

Owen Hart.

I mean, everybody
was so happy to be in Calgary,

and we were the heroes at home.

Leading the
charge-

Bret "Hitman" Hart.

It actually hurt my
ears.

I remember this is the loudest
sound I've

ever heard in my life.

This building is
shaking.

You gotta be here to
feel this.

It gave me
goosebumps

and just was such a-a
powerful moment.

There is a
celebration for the entire Hart

family and the Hart Foundation.

Sometimes, all
you need to make a lasting

impression is a sound-

that lets everyone know
who you are and

what you're all about, and that
a tall glass of whoop ass

is about to be served.

I'm talking about none other
than "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

No champion has ever
entered Madison Square Garden

with that kind of ovation.

When that glass
shattered,

you knew that hell was about
to be raised.

And with that take no prisoners
walk, Austin meant business.

If you want to
see Stone Cold,

give me a hell
yeah.

I'll never forget
sitting at ringside

on January 4th, 1999,

when Mankind was battling
The Rock

for the WWE Championship.

I've been in WWE for almost
three decades,

and I've never heard a reaction
like when the Texas Rattlesnake

made his presence felt.

The WWE
Championship is up for grabs.

Mankind has locked in
the Mandible Claw.

Yes.

Oh.

Mick Foley has
his back against the wall,

and you think the deck is
completely stacked against him.

Look out.

There's Billy
Gunn.

One of the corporate
members came in.

Billy Gunn nailed the hell out
of him.

They let it hang for like
about five seconds.

DX and the
corporate team are going at it.

What?

Oh, no.

Stone Cold is
here.

Place went crazy,
and you thought,

"Wow, that was a crazy reaction
from the crowd."

Oh, no.

Stone Cold is here.

As soon as that
glass breaks,

it's a shot of adrenaline.

The Rattlesnake
is here.

Look out.

Oh, Stone Cold
with a chair.

Don't do it.

It was just like a
wave of voices

that just wouldn't stop the
entire time I was out there.

Every single soul
is on their feet.

They love "Stone Cold" Steve
Austin.

It is now time
for our number one moment,

and it's one that has been in
highlight reels for 30 years.

Shawn Michaels.

The Heartbreak Kid had it all.

The looks, the athleticism, and
the entrance.

What charisma.

What athleticism.

Shawn Michael, Mr. Flamboyant.

But one thing
is for sure, The Heartbreak Kid

is gonna be kicking it
with The Klique.

But perhaps none
of HBK's entrances can top the

one at WrestleMania 12.

And if you
wanna see a slammin' jammin'

entrance, what I've done in the
past is nothing

compared to what I'm going to
do tomorrow night.

Introducing
first,

"The Heartbreak Kid"
Shawn Michaels.

There's no Shawn
Michaels.

What's going on?

Wait a minute.

Whoa.

Is that who we
think it is?

Vince came up
to me, and he was informing me

about this was gonna be my
entrance.

And I was like, "Yeah, okay."

I'm like, "Are you
kidding me?"

Shawn Michaels,

ladies and gentlemen,
high above.

It's just such a
cool visual, too,

just to see this man, like,
parasailing down to the ring.

Unbelievable,
what a ride.

Wow, baby.

He's doing a show
up there, too, you know?

You know, he's not just holding
on terrified.

I remember thinking
there's not a chance in hell

they could've talked to me into
doing that that day.

Certainly, in
practice, I mean,

it seems all like a good idea,
and it was a fantastic idea.

He said at the
Slammys just last night,

"You ain't seen nothing yet."

Little did we know, he meant
this.

It was, sort
of,

it felt like my
coming out party.

There's only one
"Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels.

Oh, no.

Look at that.

One thing is for
sure,

there is indeed only one
Shawn Michaels.

Being a part of a WWE entrance
and being surrounded

by that energy from the crowd
is an indescribable feeling.

It not only sets the table for
the in-ring performers

but brings you into the show and
hooks you

into a live event like no other.

Well, that'll do it for this
