The Germans, caught in a crushing allied pincer movement, launch an all out attack on the American lines in the vicinity of Lauren.

Here on a battlefield 20 kilometers wide, 1,700,000 men, 4000 tanks meet in a decisive engagement.

At the core, war on a mammoth impersonal scale.

But at the perimeter , the battle breaks down into countless smaller fragments.

All sizes, all shapes. Each more personal, but none the less different.

-Which way you headed? -Oh, Lauren soldier, uh, Sergeant.
