the character of Mac.

My name is Aisha Howard and I play Alex in
Don't Fuck in the Woods.

I'm Scott Gillespie and I will be playing
the creature and I will be playing Luke.

I'm Nadia White and I'm playing Lacey.

My name is Ryan Stacey and I am the unit
production manager.

My name is Brandon Pruitt and I'm the
assistant director for Don't Fuck in the Woods.

My name is Sean Burkett and I am the writer
and director of Don't Fuck in the Woods.

No.

That was my initial thought.

No, Sean told me the title and I was
like, dude, that's never going to fly, man.

Like, we can't do that.

But it just got such a huge response that
it ended up working out.

One of my first thoughts was
it's going to be a tough sell

to get that in writing and get
it approved on certain things.

As cool as the name is, I thought it would
be a tough thing to market because you

don't see the fucking public that often in
stuff.

Well, I saw stuff about Don't Fuck in the
Woods online and honestly, as soon as I

saw that, I wanted to be a part of it.

I had to.

Honestly, I wanted nothing to do with it.

I've said this in interviews multiple
times.

I thought that the title was just a
desperate cry for attention.

I thought that it was just cheap.

I didn't think that there needed to be a
film with that title, with that word in it.

Because I just felt that Sean was capable
of creating something that was unique and

really inventive without having to have a
title so bold.

I just felt that it was beneath him.

First time I heard the title for Don't Fuck
in the Woods, I was taken back because.

..

First of all, I thought it was
ballsy and bold because I've

never heard of a movie
dropping the F-bomb in the title.

And I thought it was suicide at the same
time for Sean.

I didn't know Sean yet.

I thought it was suicide for whoever was
making this movie.

Because I was thinking from
a distribution standpoint,

where is this guy going
to release this movie?

This guy can't even put his movie in a
theater with a title like that.

So, I thought it was extremely ballsy,
but I respected it at the same time.

And I respect it more now because I've
never met someone so...

It's a good word for stubborn on changing
the title.

Sean stuck by it and he's going to stick
by it.

I'm pretty sure I heard that even if they
get distribution for it in the contract,

they will not be allowed to change the
name.

Sean stands behind that name and I respect
that 100%.

I got involved about almost exactly four
years ago to this month.

Sean came to me about the idea.

He, once again, the
title was the first thing he

actually came up with and
then he went from there.

He told me about the story.

I've never done a creature feature.

I had actually never really done an actual
horror film.

It's all been thriller, supernatural.

And I thought this would be fun to
actually do.

Something gory, different from what I'm
used to.

And that's what got me involved.

I did get...

There were complications.

And when Sean came back
to me about asking me to

reprise my role, I was
automatically on board.

I loved this idea from the beginning.

And so I really was excited to be back on
board.

I got involved recently, actually,
within the last couple months when Sean

and Ryan asked me to be the assistant
director for the film.

They've both seen me on set before,
either as an AD or as a director,

and they know that I can run a good set,
run a good crew, and get stuff done on time.

So with the problems that the film has had
getting made, they wanted to make sure

they brought someone on set
who had some qualifications in

making sure stuff got done in
the amount of time frame they had.

I mean, I've been helping
Sean and them with concept

for probably just a little
bit over five years now.

So it was one of those things where I knew
that he had been talking about the project

and the kind of direction he was wanting
to go with it.

And one day I was like, man, I want to do
a creature feature one day, but it just

kind of snowballed into
we just took it in that

direction as far as what
the movie was about.

So I just did what I always do with
concept, tried to start helping him

arrange everything, and then he was like,
well, do you want to be the creature?

I was like, yeah, sure.

And it just kind of
snowballed effect from

there, and I've just
been in it since day one.

I got involved, like, two years ago,
I think?

I don't know.

I think I got involved two years ago.

And I was responding to a post that Sean
had made on Model Mayhem, asking to send

in a video and audition for a role,
and I did.

And then I had to go do a live audition,
and then I accepted the part as Jane.

We'll say about this time
last year, about reprising

the role, and he actually
made the role bigger.

And so I came back to play Mack,
and I'm so glad that I did, because I'm

having the time of my life playing this
character.

Mack's a super fun character.

Kind of goes over the
edge a little bit with the

women, but it's fun
to play a role like that.

I got involved about a little over a year
ago.

Sean, I think I posted something about
casting still, or I inquired.

I can't remember, honestly.

I'm getting old and decrepit.

The yellow jackets.

Oh, Jesus fucking Christ.

B.Mageddon, 2015.

Well, the yellow jackets.

Remember it like it was yesterday.

We were prepping for a scene where this
creature, in essence, reaches out and

grabs someone, and we were just in the
middle of trying to figure out,

maybe this angle is a little bit better,
or maybe that angle would be more

preferable, but the girl who
was getting grabbed at the time,

he was literally set up like,
all right, we're good with this.

You guys set?

And we were like, yeah, we're set.

And right then, she just kind of did a
little bit of a dance and backed up and

was like, something just stung me, something
just stung me, something just stung me.

She started freaking out, and she yelled,
hornets.

And I shit you not, I'm going to do it
real quick.

I fucking Scooby-Dooed it.

I was like, hornets?

We just start hearing yelling and
screaming, and it's pandemonium,

or whatever that word is, and we don't
know what's going on.

They immediately, in sync, started
screaming that they were being stung.

Whoever was sitting on my lap,
I had shoved off, and I ran up the hill.

Sorry, I ain't taking no hits for nobody
else.

And we were like, okay,
all right, we got to hold

off for a minute and see
what's going on with her.

Just a few seconds later, everybody in
that area just started getting hit by

yellow jackets.

So, somewhere on the tree that we were
near, somewhere in the ground,

there was a nest that we disturbed,
and it was a full-on attack.

I mean, we had, I don't
know the exact number, but at

least five to six people that
got a minimum of two times.

Some people got hit eight times.

The one girl got hit four or five.

It just turned into a nightmare,
and that's one of the big delays of the

film, because if we'd
have picked up just a few

weeks later, the leaves
would have been changing.

There were already trees that were
starting to show signs of changing for the

fall season, and we'd have just picked up
in a totally different-looking season.

So, that was a bad night.

There had to have been at least 100 yellow
jackets that came out, and we left all the

gear, and we all ran up the hill to a safe
area.

The yellow jackets actually followed
everyone that had been stung, because I

guess they let out a pheromone or
whatever, and they follow that.

And I'm just sitting in the van,
relaxing, and I see something I never see

in life, and that was Sean Burkett running
at full speed, with about 50 pounds of

camera equipment attached to his torso,
so you knew some shit was going down.

I did.

I booked it.

I fucking booked it.

I still had the EZ-Rig strapped to my
back, holding a Blackmagic camera,

and I fucking booked it.

I get to the top of the hill, and Ryan
Stacey's relaxing in a van, and I'm like,

kicked back.

Yeah.

Yeah.

I did not get stung, because I'm allergic,
so I was like, fuck that.

Fuck that hard.

The bees chased everybody.

Ex-cast member got stung.

Actually, several, but one in particular
was allergic.

We had to call the ambulance.

It was raining.

It was terrible.

Wasted a lot of time.

Fuck bees.

One of the cast had to
have an ambulance called,

because it turns out
she's allergic to them.

So basically, it was a pretty fucked up
situation.

It sucked.

The bees would not, or the hornets,
or whatever the hell they were,

would not clear set.

They filled the lights.

It was really bad.

And I was one of very
few individuals who did not

get stung, because I was
sitting on my ass in a van.

It really sucked.

It was really scary.

But I will say the production was awesome,
on taking the right steps and

measurements, and make sure everybody was
safe.

She started feeling woozy, because she had
multiple stings.

We made sure that the paramedics were
called, and the paramedics came up,

and they took her right then and there.

She was a trooper.

She sent us pictures from the hospital.

She showed up to set on time the next day.

Yeah, it was something I hope to never go
through again.

This year, I've been told production went
out to set, and sprayed, and we should be

yellow jacket free, and they've got set
ready.

So, yellow jackets, we're fucking ready
for you this year.

Once it's released finally, everybody's
mind is going to be completely changed,

about what they were expecting from it.

They're going to watch this film.

They are going to be mad at themselves,
for the degree of judgment that they have

given it, and they're going to absolutely
love it.

I truly believe that 100%.

Hopefully good things.

Hopefully they're going to like it.

Hopefully they're going
to enjoy the carnage, and

the gore, and all the fun
that we'll have on camera.

Well, they're probably going to say that
it's a fucking kick-ass awesome movie,

and the Jane character was fucking sweet.

And then they'll probably like hate the
Mac character a lot, so...

I think people will say Hallelujah.

The word finally comes to mind.

I think it will undoubtedly
forever shut up the

haters, because this film's
got haters like no other.

This film's cursed.

Other people might talk about it.

This film is cursed.

And we just want to be done.

We just want to be over with.

But I think people will like it.

I think people will enjoy it.

Like I said, it's a fun creature feature.

It's got monsters.

It's got weed.

It's got tons of tits and lesbians.

People are going to like this movie.

I think that this film is going to
surprise a lot of people.

I'm sure a lot of people have a preconceived
notion of what this film will be.

That it's going to be
cheesy, or poor quality,

or we don't know what
the fuck we're doing.

I mean, that's why it's taken so long.

But I think they're going to be pleasantly
surprised.

Awesome.

That's the reaction I'm getting.

You'll hear people say that they put
blood, sweat, and tears in things.

And in this situation, that's not an
exaggeration.

That's legit on all three sides of that.

So when it finally comes out, I think
there's going to be a lot of people that

are finally relieved that
they finally get to see the

movie that they've been
wanting to see for so long.

And there's still going to be a couple
people that probably have a couple bad

things to say about it, just in the sense
that it took so long, but we're not going

to half-ass a project on this scale by any
means to appease anyone.

So I would hope that it's all,
and I believe that it's going to be all

just really positive feedback
and people that are really

interested to get behind
it and take a look at it.

I think it's going to get a really good
response.

Sean, I like how laid-back and relaxed he
is, because that kind of helps.

I don't like when someone's all up in my
face and stuff about things.

He's really good at how he approaches his
actors and talks to them and explains a

situation to where he
can be personable instead

of all barky orders
at you type of thing.

So, yep, he's really good at what he does.

It's a lot of fun.

There's a lot of laughs with Sean,
which is great.

He takes films seriously, but he also
likes to joke around, so it's a lot of fun.

Always laughter when you're on set with
Sean.

Because Sean's cool.

And most of y'all don't suck too much.

He feeds me.

Sean has a particular way of doing things
that a lot of people would probably see as

semi-unorthodox, but he's passionate about
it.

You can say the things that you like about
working with people all day long,

but at the end of the day, if they're
passionate about it, as long as you can

just jump through the hoops of however the
process is that they want to do it,

then it's probably going to turn out good.

So I like working with Sean because he's
passionate.

He pays attention to detail, and he tries
to get exactly what he wants.

And if something has to be altered or
something has to go the wayside,

he'll still try to portray his original
goal in that, if it's a possibility.

So he's dedicated.

He's passionate about it.

And I've been the guy's friend for quite a
long time, and he's a good dude.

Yeah, I like working with Sean a lot on
those aspects.
